Dude, that weird out show was sick.
It was the sickest show for, not like sick.
I can't describe it like, this is the sickest show I've ever seen.
But it's like a great experience.
It was a wonderful, wonderful experience.
Just pure.
Everybody was sitting down, which I get.
Really?
Yeah, it's like a comedy show.
Like even the pit wasn't a, it was all chaired seating.
You know, Puddles the Clown opened.
I don't know if you remember Puddles.
the clowns like really big on YouTube for a while like a while back and just did like just some just like a lot of fun stuff um
i don't remember puddles yeah he he's like this six foot eight clown who just like do covers and
like like a like a good singing voice like loud and singer voice and like cover stuff like i don't know
whatever anyway but the the crowd was so dude so many fucking costumes so many weird owl costumes
So many weird out costume.
Yeah, it wasn't like a red fair
where someone was like,
I'm one of the gatekeepers
from Stargate.
No, like it was all either
like they were doing
homages to different versions
of weird out.
So many Amish Paradise.
I didn't realize Amish Paradise
is his biggest song.
Yeah.
I think that's right.
That one and like the
my, this here Anakin guy,
that one. He wrapped it with that. But people were fucking getting antsy because Amish Paradise
wasn't being played. Play Amish Paradise! They were screaming that. And like, I think he kind of knew
because he'd be like, all right, I got a song. A lot of people you say it. I haven't played in a while.
So blah, blah, blah. And then he played like some obscure like in a deep cut. Which is really fucking funny.
Oh, weird Al knows how to tease him. That little fucking flirt.
He's a freak.
He gets off on it.
He gets off on people wanting it so bad.
Wanted it so bad and going, oh, never mind.
I think you want all about the penniums, dude.
This one's called all about the peniums.
But when Amish Paradise came on, that was the one time people got out of their seats.
Really?
And it was only for the first five or six bars of the instrumental as it played,
and then promptly sat back down.
and I've never been surrounded by more dudes my age who were like regressing in real time.
Like it was, there was one guy, I'm not joking, like, it was like how Trump would describe things.
Tears in his eyes.
Big, were his arms like Christmas hams?
Christmas hams.
This guy was singing every fucking, every word, dude.
Yeah, every single word.
Not in like an even annoying way.
I was like, God, damn, bro.
Fuck yeah.
Like you fucking know every fucking weird owl song.
Great, good series.
Like, I have perfect pitch.
Yeah, right.
But it was such a,
such an interesting crowd.
And like,
I was joking when I was like,
I posted someone like,
you think people are smoking at the weird owl show?
Fuck,
no,
they are not.
This was,
were you getting looks?
Dude,
there's no way.
I could not,
I could not bring myself to do any that.
I was like,
oh, this is,
I'm at a fit.
This is a family show.
there were so many kids having their first concert.
There's just like such a...
I went into it being like,
oh, this will probably be like some funny adults.
You know what I mean?
Like, just trying to catch a vibe
from seeing the Weird Al show.
And this was like, I was watching like multiple
familial rites of passage happening.
Like, and I was like, oh, this is like...
I wanted to do it.
I was just like we're trying to get our kids sleeping right lately.
And so like we decided not to do it.
Well, yeah, he would have been,
You would have been leaving that place at like 11.
Yeah.
That would have been like the latest they've stayed up.
But they would have seen Amish Paradise live.
Play Amish Paradise!
Dude, he also did fat in the fat suit.
Wait, what?
He came out in the full, full prosthetics, everything for fat.
Wow.
I was like, because I went with my brother-in-law.
We kind of looked at each other like, oh, he's doing this, huh?
It's crazy.
Okay.
All right.
He didn't issue a written apology ahead of it.
No, he did open it. And he's like, guys, I know you guys, why I'm going to speak on this.
One of the most complex political issues of our time. But I will be wearing the suit for fat.
Did he really say? No, no, no.
Did he acknowledge it at all that it's like problematic?
No, but there was a part where he does like, he opens with a really great polka medley.
And there was shape of you, like that Ed Shearin song that he did a cover of.
And like some people around me groaned.
They're like boo.
Not even brun.
They're like,
oh,
yeah,
like it was more just like,
oh,
right.
No one would dare
boo weird owl.
Right.
It's actually physically impossible to do.
You can't boo when Weird Al's on stage,
ripping it up.
And I'm like,
is he singing with a backing track?
Because his voice,
it's so like,
he still has such a youthful sort of like higher pitched voice.
Yeah.
And just killing it every song.
Yeah,
yeah,
the people who go to his concert are like,
wait.
does weird Al
fucking rip
grab yourself
and beat it
and it's like
his shit's like up there
you know what I mean
but killing it
I'm anyway
a fucking icon
true true icon
people were fucking road
tripping
down from like
all over California
because like
he didn't have a show
in L.A.
I think or the Bay Area
so it's like
like going to the Honda
Center in Anaheim
was like the place
I think that's probably why
the Honda Center
in Anaheim
is actually my mecca
for a number of
I mean, before when it was the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim where the ducks played.
That's right.
I just, I really like Hondas.
I actually travel, I travel with Weird Al, like a deadhead.
I would suggest if anyone has like that little bit of interest in seeing Weird Al, like, it's, it paid off.
I fucked up, man, I fucked up, big.

The great Pac-Man Jones.
After the game, the whole national task force

Like, hey, buddy, yeah, you, Adam.
Come up.
And one of my favorite segments we do

which is funny because at the time I was like, I don't know if I like this guy.
With rapper, actor, David Diggs.
The jump off for me was Hamilton, and it was the most popular thing in a very long time.
But it was still, for me, it was me and my friends making something dumb.

Hello, the internet, and welcome to this week trend edition of our daily night, guys.
The production of IHeartRadio.
My name is Jack O'Brien.
That over there is Mr. Miles Gray.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Do the Cool-Aid man make any cameos?
Cool-Aid man did not make any cameos.
But, yeah, there was some other interesting.
A lot of Jedi's.
A lot of Jedi's dressed up in there too.
There you go.
Yeah.
Full, does he like travel with like a full like backing?
Like dancers and shit?
No, but dude, his fucking weird house backing band, it's great.
Like the lead guitar and bassist are 90 years old.
Yeah.
And like barely doing it.
Like they're not, they're not giving you much and a little bit of a shimmy and a shake.
But his, he has like more young, like younger backup singers and a keyboard player and another guitar,
like a rhythm guitar player.
They were fucking earning their chest.
costume changes, full-on dancing,
choreography,
then a bunch of fucking Stormtroopers came out
at the end for the
Anakin guy song.
I wonder where he could possibly find
people willing to dress up as Stormtroopers
for a weird out concert.
In Anaheim, California,
just steps away from Disneyland.
I don't know. I don't know how he did it.
There's even a fucking R2D2 on stage.
It is interesting that you said
everybody was seated the whole time
because for the weird out concert.
went to over the weekend.
It's a teenage thing.
Yeah,
because the other concert
that I've been to
where everybody was seated
was Bob Dylan,
um,
including Bob Dylan.
He was,
he was having a tough time
standing up fully as he was ripping around on the,
was moving.
Yeah.
Al does not fuck around.
He doesn't fuck around.
But they're both people who
following our icon episodes of them,
I had the sense that they're both like
addicted to touring.
Like they can't stop.
It's possible.
Yeah.
It's possible.
Like Al,
Al loves the road.
I don't know what it is.
Thing you got to know about weird,
Al,
he may seem weird,
but the guy's a road dog.
The guy has an ego
that cannot be satisfied.
But he's,
does it a great job of never letting that bleed
outside of just his insatiable desire
to keep performing in front of people.
Guys,
he feeds out,
this is food for him.
So we're going to need you
to really amp it up for Al here.
Anyways,
anyhow,
This is the episode where we tell you what was trending over the weekend.
We also tell you some of the things that we think are overrated and underrated,
let you get to know us a little bit better.
It's trending in our hearts.
Miles, what is something that you think is underrated?
Both of my underrated and overrated come from just being at the Weird Al show.
Took yourself on a little date.
I know. Shout out Jeremy, my brother-in-law, he was for my birthday.
He was like, hey, man, he's like, weird.
I was going to be in L.A. around your birthday.
And my other brother-in-law's birthday
was also this week, and he's like, I'm going to be down.
I was like, should we go?
And I was like, uh, yeah,
a fuck, yeah, yes.
That's great that you have a good relationship with your brother-in-law.
I do, too.
I got a great brother-in-law, but I'm a big fan.
They're both dope.
They're both dope.
And we've got many things in common.
We're both nerdy types.
We love Star Wars.
We know more about Star Wars than we'll reveal to each other that we know.
You see that Mo?
and their front lawn.
He's a deep cut weird.
He's like an OG weird old guy.
Him and my other brother-in-law are weird.
Like, they're weird owl guys.
Weirdly weird out guys.
But like not to the point where like they got tears in their eyes crying,
but they're like,
but this was like maybe his third weird owl show he had seen.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
And he was like, if you haven't been, you should go.
You should go.
I was like, say less.
But my underrated is seeing other people do shit.
And that ends up giving you some self-awareness, Jack.
I know you're a philosophy major.
I'm pretty sure that young Carl Young guy said some shit about how the shit that
irritates us about others can lead us.
Well, this is a direct quote what you're saying.
To an understanding of ourselves or something like that.
Wow, you committed that whole thing to memory.
I don't know, dude.
That Carl Jung guy.
I'm on to Jung, dude.
Very jungian.
Very jungian, dude.
The jungies from the man show.
But that shit is so true.
so at this weird out show
there was this guy
like sitting near us
who was way too turned up
hyper slash drunk
slash genuinely excited
like a child
and was annoying
the fuck
out of his girlfriend
with his enthusiasm
because the lights would go dark
and be like
woo
and then like
Jesus
yeah he's like
just stop
and he's like
oh sorry sorry
and then like
wait three
gave it a beat
and then just did it even louder
while it was quiet just to bring more.
Because doing that thing,
he's like, oh, that's annoying.
My love language is annoying the fuck out of you.
Kept doing it anyway.
I was just like, oh my God, bro,
fucking knock it off.
It was making my skin crawl.
And then I was like, wait,
Carl Young is pulling up a chair in my brain.
And it was like, this you?
I was like, God damn it.
I also know this terrible, childish form
of attention seeking,
which is,
you annoy the shit out of your partner.
Right.
In a way that like,
I know the limits usually.
Then I'm like, okay, all right.
This is,
I'm being stupid.
I know the limits.
I can stop anytime I want.
I can stop anytime I want.
I can stop anytime I want.
It was,
I think this was,
it sort of gave me a moment where I don't go to the point of like
causing any kind of scene publicly
and drawing attention like this guy did.
but there was something about seeing the exasperation on the girlfriend's face.
Like she was having fun at the concert too.
Like it wasn't like evil or anything.
Right.
But it's just like a thing where I was like, oh, this guy's being annoying boyfriend.
And I had a very, very jungian moment there where I just went.
A nice long talk with yourself.
Bro, knock it off.
So thank you to that, man.
Yeah.
Because for that which, for without which I might not be an even better partner today.
Yeah.
I think it's, I think it's always worth taking some time to give it a nice little think or,
you know, meditate on or write, do a little writing exercise on the people you find the most
annoying.
Like not, not like, well, but what they believe is evil and it's like harming, but like people
who you find unreasonably annoying and then just be like, what is it like, let's just like
focus on that for a second and like think about what specifically about them drives me crazy and it is yeah
it can reveal some interesting thing even they're like my ego had to preserve itself i go well i'm not like
that guy right but you're not but i was willing but i was willing to be like but you got a little bit
of that dog and you don't get and i'm like i do in fact have that annoying terrible dog in me
that i'm not completely without that dog in me learning to make sure it's housebroken so um
Yeah, it's underrated how, because I had the whole thing,
go, do this guy's a fucking jackass?
And then I go, I'm a fucking jackass.
Wait a second.
Is it I who is a jackass, maybe?
And that boy was me.
My underrated is how fallible our memories are.
And this came up for me over the week,
and my friend and I were having a debate about the scene in Jurassic Park
where the T-Rex eats the lawyer off the toilet.
He left us.
He left us.
And we were both absolutely certain that we were right and the other person was wrong.
And we were both wrong about how we remembered that.
So he remembered the lawyer running to the bathroom and unbuckling his pants.
Like he had to take a shit.
When the T-Rex breaks through the enclosure.
He leaves the car.
The kids say, he left us.
He runs into the bathroom.
sits on the toilet. He remembered
unbuckling his pants when he got to the toilet.
And the implication being that
he had to take a shit
essentially.
Is that how you remember? So there's a viral
Reddit post where someone is like,
everyone acts like the lawyer is such a bad guy.
Maybe he just really had to take a shit.
We've all been there. And it's like
no, that's not what he's
hiding in there.
Yes, Gilbert famous for toilet humor.
He's booping while it gets bitten out.
And I was like, no, he goes in there to hide from the T-Rex.
The T-Rex sees him, follows him in, knocks the building over, and eats him.
That's not right either.
He goes in there to hide and hide successfully.
Yeah.
And he's hiding.
And then Ian Malcolm fucks him over in an effort to distract the T-Rex.
But it's like the whole scene with the kids in the car unfolds while he's successfully
hiding in the bathroom.
And like he just gets like the building gets smashed.
into because of Ian Malcolm running there.
That's when the lawyer's exposed.
By the way, pants up, sitting on the toilet.
But he is weirdly wearing short.
He's wearing a suit with shorts.
Yeah.
Which doesn't really make sense.
It's his little bar, dude.
It's very, it's very humid there right off the shore of course.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense.
But I think that's probably why people remember it as him taking a shit.
I have multiple things.
I think it is.
When I was reading this, I was like, okay, what contributed to this?
One is that I think,
one of the more iconic jostling with your pants in a panic to sit down on a toilet comes from the
laxative scene from Dumb and Dumber.
Which is around this time.
Yep.
And people are like, he's frantically trying to get his pants off in that scene.
So I was like, because I was like, when I saw that, I was like, wait, have I seen that?
And I was like, no, I'm picturing, I'm picturing Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber.
The other part, too, though, is, is that I, Ian Mollett.
Malcolm does kind of give credence to the idea that he was going to the bathroom because from the other Ford Explorer, they see him run into the bathroom.
Like, what's he doing? And he goes, when you got to go, you got to go.
That's right. So he does lead you in that direction.
There is something in the dialogue that is like sort of supporting the idea that maybe he was going to the bathroom from the ignorant perspective of those in the second Ford Explorer.
Yeah. And it is why like the fact.
that the T-Rex didn't see him go in there
and then like accidentally knocks it over
trying to get Ian Malcolm
and like that's what like that is
kind of a weird leap
but like it just narratively
you don't care because there's a T-Rex on screen
I've talked before about how like
Jurassic Park uses the T-Rex
in such a way that like doesn't make
any logical sense but they're just like
yeah but you are going back to baby brain
because there's a T-Rex on screen
so like the
the physics of the T-Rex cage don't make sense.
Like, at first, he's, like, on level ground with them,
but then there's, like, a big drop-off into the T-Rex cage.
And the big one is that at the, in the final scene,
the T-Rex sneaks up on the Raptors,
even though it has been shown that it makes earthquakes
every time it takes a step.
The plot holds that.
Yeah, but I didn't see that part, so it doesn't matter.
But, yeah, I think.
I think my memory is, I think all memory is just like trying to make sense of a thing that happened and like string it into a narrative.
Right.
And like the, the fact that it's a bit convoluted that like he successfully goes in there and hides.
And then Ian Malcolm like accidentally gives him up.
My brain just like went and made it simpler.
And I was like, no, we'll just, we'll just make that story cleaner.
Yeah.
And it's that the T-Rex goes and eats his ass.
It's also comical how much the T-Rex's approach is just shaking the fucking bathroom when the lawyers in it.
Like, he's in there and he's like, oh, oh.
I'm also curious, what was Ian Malcolm's exact injuries here?
Because he's running towards the bathroom.
And I guess he just gets like nuzzled, like launched off the snout of the T-Rex into the bathroom.
Yeah.
Is that kind of it?
He gets, yeah, he gets sort of blasted to the.
side. It's like he gets, he sustains a, a hit from like an NFL linebacker.
Yeah. Just blown through the door, paled through the door immediately asleep.
And then he has, then the lawyers has like a buster Keaton-esque everything falling around him.
It's so like, boop-boop-boop-boop.
Yeah. Does not work out well for him.
I mean, yeah, Spilberg always, there's always like a bit of goofiness to the stuff like that.
So I just love people getting eaten.
Yeah.
I was watching Jurassic Park with my kids this weekend and they were like,
does the kid get eaten?
I was like, no, of course the kid doesn't get eaten.
What are you talking about?
Yeah.
And they were like, but you like jaws and the kid gets eaten in that.
And I was like, fuck, you're right.
And I showed that to you.
People change.
I have way too young and age.
Oh, right.
That it's always like, but kids can always be eaten in these films, right?
Yeah.
Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
They can.
Kittner, boy.
You don't want to be that kittener boy.
Anyways, the Oprah episode also reminded me of how full of shit memory is because she
interviewed a lot of people who remembered ritual satanic abuse that was pulled from
hypnosis and made into a real memory in their brain.
Ratings.
Yeah.
All right.
What's something you think is overrated?
Also, again, in line with the Weird Al concert.
Taking too many pictures or videos during a concert.
you pay to see the act with your real life eyeballs.
Why take that experience and flatten it through a cell phone video.
If you do that, just go to YouTube and watch somebody else's fucking cell phone video of the performance.
They're doing that for you.
I say all of this because I posted about this on this.
I was blown away.
I was like, yeah, bro, I'm like, I got to capture some of these songs.
They're just like fun moments.
and I got to say my fellow old people, my Gen Xers, elder millennials that were making up about 80% of the audience there, barely anyone was filming.
Like, oh really?
Barely a soul had their phone out.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Like, I was like, because at one point, I was like trying to take a picture.
And usually, like, just sort of in your periphery when you're at a live show, you're used to seeing the stage, the crowd.
and a bunch of little cell phones out.
Like 30 other cell phones in the frame.
Yeah.
I'm not kidding.
Like in like in the floor,
like the floor seats area and like the first maybe 30 rows,
I counted at most at one time like eight cell phones up.
Wow.
And most people were there doing this thing like,
I guess being present and enjoying the experience of a live performance.
That can't be right.
They must have just lost their phone or something.
I know my brother in a lot.
I'm like,
these guys are on K-holes or something, right?
What the fuck's going on?
Nobody's got their cell phone out.
You gotta get super high up for a weird out concert.
You gotta go to K-hole, man.
When you're seeing Weird Out Yankovic.
But it was just such a really interesting thing.
I honestly, a part of me is like, okay,
I think it's like an age thing where we're also kind of burnt out on like having to document shit on phones.
and also just like
my brother-in-law made a joke
he's like I mean he's like
people had so many kids there
I think some of those kids
just didn't even have cell phones
to even record anything with
and I'm like oh maybe
but there was just something interesting
about just this sort of collective
not even agreement
it's just like everybody was kind of
on the same page
and like yeah man like
we're checking out Weird Al
and like singing along
there's no point like
what are we going to take a video of
I don't know
what if Weird Al had exposed
some people who were cheating on their spouses
that would have been a great bit
like for weird out
like if you were weird out like
you should have just like put
some people up in the crowd
some plants just for a great bit
but that's a concert you're going to
knowing that whoever you're there with
you guys are gonna be fucking
oh yeah
especially when you listen
ending with that Yoda song that he does
Y ODA Yoda
Uh huh
Yo Yoda
Yoda
If Yoda was from Delco.
Shared a Delco overdub of the Yoda's death scene.
That was really great.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm a Philadelphia now.
I'm getting so many, so many weird Delco memes now.
Shout to the people who are calling out the Wooder Ice shirt on a Philly goat.
True, water ice.
Yeah.
I will say that I've, any time that I've taken video or pictures at a concert, I've
rarely taking a second look at those.
You know?
Like maybe a selfie or something with,
you know, the people I was there with.
But other than that,
it's just holding up my phone and being like,
I'm capturing this and I will have it forever.
It's like,
no, it's not going to be worth keeping.
You're never going to watch this again.
A lot of my kids' childhood, too, I would say.
The stuff that, especially in the early days,
that I was taking a lot of video of them.
Dude, print it out.
print that shit out.
That's what we do
at the end of the year.
We started just making a year-end wrap-up.
Yeah.
Because you gotta have,
like,
you know,
like we used to fucking dig through
weird tins of old photos
all the time.
Like,
who's this guy?
Who's this guy?
Who's this mom?
You were married before?
What?
No?
Like,
those are the kinds of,
like,
I feel like kids just don't have
that experience anymore
of rifling through
any physical media.
Yeah,
fuck.
That's another one
that I know that I should do.
Go to weird.
out concerts and make the physical printouts a picture.
Yeah.
My sister does that every year.
She does like the year in pictures from her family.
And it's great.
Well, she's an artist.
Yeah, they're all great.
Who's in touch with the power of visual mediums.
That's right.
All right.
My overrated is round numbers.
I heard somewhere that you're supposed to get 10,000 steps in a day a long time ago.
And immediately I had that in my brain as like the goal.
you were supposed to be hitting.
Yeah.
I've got one of those aura rings that mainly to like track sleep,
but this became a thing that I was always taking a look at.
It's like, oh, fuck.
I get my 10,000 steps.
I am not getting my 10,000 steps.
Anyways, turns out the 10,000 thing is from a 1965 marketing campaign
when a Japanese company made a device named Monpoque.
which translates to 10,000 steps meter.
And the name was a marketing tool.
And there's also a figure in Japanese
that people say the character for 10,000
kind of looks like a person walking.
I haven't found good sourcing on that,
but I do know that the first time the 10,000 steps thing happened
was this pedometer that they were selling in 1965
and it's just stuck since the...
and doctors looked at it and are like, no, like, that's, your body isn't built around just
like round numbers that are easy to remember.
I guess I don't know if like the kanji for Hmong, like 10,000s.
I guess it's kind of like in that way where like people who don't read like Chinese characters
and stuff look at it and go, what shape is that?
Oh, you drew a little guy.
to me, I'm like, I don't know, that means like 10,000, but I guess it kind of is.
If you squint.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Have you actually, like, I'm seeing a version.
Yeah, I looked at it.
Someone just put a walking person before.
I'm like, I don't know.
It looks more like maybe that thing from Robocop.
Yeah.
Hard to know.
It's, hey, but you know what?
That's the beauty of it.
It's because a lot, there are a lot of characters that are based off of like the way things look like Yama, mountain, like looks like a mountain or like Kala, like looks like a river.
like a river.
And 10,000, they just knew when they were designing the thing that it should look like a
walking person because that's a number of steps you're supposed to get.
Exactly.
Exactly.
But yeah, there's a Harvard study that says it's like, nets out at about 7500 is about the
right level for most people.
Like once you get there, you're doing enough, you're active enough.
And yeah, I'm also glad it wasn't more.
They weren't like, actually it's...
Dude, we were way off.
It's 23,000.
You're fuck.
Yeah.
If you don't do that.
Basically, we have to live like ancient people.
You just constantly have to be carrying each other around.
Every minute you're not walking, it's actually subtracting a minute of your life.
So like you're kind of burning the candle at both ends.
I actually feel like we could get that going as a cult, like as a fitness cult.
Like burning the candle at both ends?
No, just like you constantly have to be walking.
Like it basically like turning people's lives into a slow motion version of the bus from speed.
where it's like, no, you're actually not allowed to slow down unless you're sleeping.
Otherwise, I mean, like, yeah.
Oh, man.
I mean, the other thing with like sleep, too, I realized, too, that's like, you don't actually need eight.
Yeah, eight hours is another nice round number.
That's exactly one third of your day.
Yeah.
It's like, I don't know.
They were saying like it could possibly be right for everyone.
Closer to like six and seven and a half.
Yeah.
I think for some people, some people would laugh.
Yeah, for sure.
I used to do this thing where like if I wasn't in bed for eight,
hours I would try and keep sleeping, even though I was like up. And only in the last two months have I
just kind of started. I've been like, let me just get up right now. And let me see if this is
what I need. I think I might be awake. Am I? Babe, what? Am I awake? Hey, babe. Hey, hey. Did you
fall asleep and take my edamine again? Am I awake or am I dead? Forget it, forget. I'm going to
get ready for work.
Also the 10,000 hours thing of like,
you need 10,000 hours of practice.
Malcolm Gladwell's got a new book out that I don't think is making the same.
Same claims?
Yeah, or no, he's got a new book that's getting,
not the usual,
the process.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right.
The American way of killing, I think is what it's called.
Anyways, you can stop walking after 7,500 steps, guys.
is my good news for you.
And anytime you hear a very specific round number,
like people say,
oh,
every hour has 60 minutes in it.
Okay, sure.
According to who.
Yeah.
But anyways,
let's take a quick break.
We'll be right back.

And we're back.
We're back.
And we're just going to do a quick roundup of the weekend in the White House.
Holy fuck.
Because they are not doing great.
in terms of actual news,
what they're actually causing.
For instance, on Friday, Iran struck an oil tanker
after an illegal attempt to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
And on Saturday, the Houthis reportedly fired a ballistic missile at Riyadh,
which has opened a new front in the Iran war that America started,
which for no good reason and against the advice of everyone who's been paying,
attention to wars for the past, I don't know, a couple millennia.
Anyways, this prompted the U.S. State Department to issue an advisory warning stating this
military conflict has the potential to escalate rapidly.
Americans outside the Middle East should seriously reconsider travel to and through the region.
Trump then cut his trip to Camp David short in order to return to D.C.
And so naturally, the White House spent the weekend churning out some of their finest
distractions in an effort in a while.
They got out the light bright for him.
Yeah.
Light bright, light bright.
On the magical, remember that shit?
Yeah.
Put the little pegs in there to make different.
So he was using the light bright.
Oh, they still got the light bright?
Yeah, they still got the light bright out of it.
Oh, shit.
Yeah, the thing with like even Iran now, like, they're like, uh, they, they just, they just
warned that Iran has new weapons with new capabilities.
if they continue to assault their area.
I don't they were supposed to be out.
Were they supposed to be out?
Yeah.
I don't know, man.
It's hard to know.
It's so weird.
And then also, too, like there's also
they've delivered to the Qataris
like some more demands.
They're like, hey, man, if you,
I noticed your polling keeps going down and like,
couldn't help but notice.
You're making an energy crisis even worse for the world.
How about getting our releasing
the hundred billion dollars in frozen assets and getting the fuck out of here to just kind of
stop this.
Yeah.
Just a thought.
But I mean, what's what came up on the light break that asked Trump being like, yeah, no,
not right now.
We got some new UFO files from the Pentagon.
What?
Oh, yeah.
I didn't know.
Okay.
New.
By new, I mean from 1952.
they released this
1952 UFO
sighting in Utah
and they were basically like
as you can see
this is basically
like a drone swarm
but here's the twist
this is from 1952
and this was actually
debunked not this weekend
it was debunked in 1952
when Project Blue Book
was like oh no those are
pillow balloons in flight
that's actually what they look like
that's how they behave
but they, I don't know, they're desperate.
They got stories to generate.
So they just released just whatever the government's documents were on a UFO thing that happened that was debunked in real time in 1952.
It was all over Fox News.
Fox News was like, way do you see this one?
Of course it is.
That's just so funny that I'm sure if anyone like watching like, what the fuck is this?
This is nonsense.
It's like the equivalent of like, you ever like, you ever like,
get a shitty gift and you're like, oh shit, you know what?
I'm going to re-gift this one.
I'm going to re-gift this one.
And then you put it somewhere and then you forget about it and 50 years has passed.
And you're like, oh, shit, I need something to fucking just, you know, calm the waters in my
relationship.
Oh, I got this old gift from 50 years ago that sucks that I don't even, I don't even want.
How about this?
Hey, babe, it's a first generation, like, fucking, uh, like, fucking, uh,
What are those things?
Alexa device.
From the late aughts.
And here's one of those belts you put around your back and it goes,
blah,
blah,
and it just jiggles your belly a little bit and you lose weight, babe.
They also decided to claim credit
for Wendy's decision to bring back their old yellow packaging.
Wendy's revives its iconic yellow packaging
by popular demand,
wrote Pop Crave,
to which the White House,
at White House, responded,
thank you President Trump
like five exclamation points
oh my God
I don't know
this is so terrifying
how does
how do they even
what
I know that's what I mean
this is fucking so
out there
we did that that's right
we brought it back
the people were calling for it
and they called me and I said
get it done
get it done
what did I say
what happened over the
weekend. Oh, Brighton beat Arsenal. We did that. You're welcome. If there's anything you like,
I did it. Hopefully. I mean, that's, I mean, that's, is that like the, where they're at in terms of,
like, the crisis PR management to try and get like more positive things out there about Donald Trump is like,
now the new tactic is like, if there's something like remotely positive, let's just underneath
that tweet. Thank you, President Trump. The net that they're sifting with. They're like,
make it finer. Just to every, anything good. Let's just take it.
take credit for it.
He doesn't, he's not even known for eating when.
He's a McDonald's guy.
I know.
But it's truly,
it is like he's just playing the hits,
you know?
Like he knows that,
okay,
he's,
he's had the,
um,
the thing,
like the McDonald's thing worked.
So he's like jumping on that.
Did it?
Like a fast food thing.
Wait,
what do you mean?
The McDonald's stuff.
What was the McDonald's thing that worked?
Do you remember when he like went and worked at McDonald's and like,
people were like, this is going to win the election for him.
I drove that garbage truck that one time.
Right.
He just showed him in a garbage truck next.
UFO shit.
Beefing with CNN as we'll get to aligning himself with a fast food chain.
He has no new bits.
So it's, yeah.
I have to assume border wall is coming next.
But Greenland is also in the arsenal.
He claimed that they reached a deal with.
Greenland that would give America permanent control over their security, which was both largely
contradicted by Greenland, and the thing they're talking about has been in place since the Cold War.
So again, they're just, they're not just looking on the internet for things they can take credit
for. They are also going back deep into history to be like, yeah, that one, we did that.
Right. And I'm sure like the AIDS are like probably leveling with the Danish government.
they're like, look, man, you know how this works, dude.
He's fucking cooked, bro.
We just need something.
We just need to sign a paper and just-
I just need to get through the weekend.
Yeah.
And even like Greenland or Denmark's like,
actually this agreement means that Greenland is actually protected
under the NATO charter.
Sure.
Like, yeah, whatever, dude.
Whatever, man.
Just like, fucking no, bro.
Just fucking sign it, man.
And then I wonder if then when media like outlets are,
start going, this is like the same fucking deal.
fuck, fuck.
Don't fucking let him see this.
Don't let him fucking.
Or it's just more that like, they're like,
don't let him know.
Like they know.
Right.
But don't let fucking him know.
Jesus.
Well, the good news is that
no mainstream media outlet is going to be
allowed around anymore because he also announced
that he's banning CNNMS now and Politico
from the White House.
There are,
he provided no reason to this other than just like,
again, you know,
gobbling up attention,
controlling,
The news cycle.
I did see headlines about this.
So it seems to be working in some ways.
I mean,
it does because everyone's like,
what the fuck is wrong with him?
And then the other headlines are it's like,
it's all because of Natalie Harp.
Right.
His human printer and,
you know,
most devoted cult member.
This is from the Wall Street Journal.
Quote,
his frustrations reached a fever pitch on Friday
when one of his closest days,
Natalie Harp,
showed him clips of anchors
on the cable.
network MS now criticizing his administration, according to people familiar with the matter.
Hours later, Trump banned the network and two other news organizations from the White House.
They also write that like Susie Wiles, his chief of staff, was out of town and usually is like
one of the human breaks on his terrible ideas.
Sure.
Because he was out of town.
The only person that could keep Smeagel from doing anything naughty was Ghal.
So yeah, it didn't work out.
quite like that. Now political
MS, political MS now in CNN,
they're suing Trump.
And he's just been posting more cope about
how he's like, he's like, I'm not trying to
take down free speech.
I'm against fake news.
God damn it. And not even like
right wingers like are into this shit
because they know, right?
Like Trump has a problem
that like alienating journalists
isn't the solution to Trump's bad press.
It's Trump's actions.
But.
They don't.
do seem to be, I feel like I'm seeing more AI slop that makes him look like a doofus.
There's like one where, there's one where like Sarah Huckabee Sanders was in, like, at a press
conference and like they, the AI like gave her like boobs down to her belt. And it had Trump like
trying to like, he was like making like sucking noises at them. This was something he posted.
No, no, no, no. But it's just out there. I'm just wondering like, are, I feel like boomers.
are now falling for AI Slop that just like makes that like there's also the clips of him and
Natalie Harp kissing on the golf course oh the golf course yeah yeah like I feel like just if
you're using AI Slop that is fooling elderly people is like a temperature of what is going on
yeah yeah it's not tough guy he used to fall for it it's it feels like it's not going well for him
suckling at Sarah Huckabee Sanders's teeth yeah the fuck well yeah I don't know man try it all
all, none of it's working.
But because of, so like, now
the outlets are sticking together
because of the nature
of like pooling footage.
Like, so, you know, they're like,
that's how they save money. They're like, okay,
ABC can cover this day, CNN to this,
and we can share the footage and we don't have to send fucking
multiple crews all the time. And then this is like a
continuation of this from
also the Wall Street Journal. Five networks, ABC,
CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC
have long shared the responsibility of providing television
coverage of presidential events.
splitting the financial costs and distributing footage that is carried by news organizations worldwide.
The networks perform their duties on a rotation, and CNN had been slated to provide coverage
for Mr. Trump's travel on Monday to the UN General Assembly. The president's activities on Monday
are still expected to be covered by print radio and wire journalists along with still photographers.
So basically, because CNN is banned, the other networks are like, well, we're not going to have
anybody there for like video. So we'll just not cover you, I guess? Yeah, they're just kind of
like, well, shit, if you're banning CNN, and this is how we work, dude, like, you're not
going to have that same coverage because Fox is like, well, we're not going to put in a
replacement team. So, yeah, I guess you'll have to, in case you like that, I mean, there'll be
other news outlets there, but. Well, you're going to miss the awesome thing I do because it's
going to be sick. We're going to reveal, I'm going to be chilling with an alien. Um, he also
proclaimed that his, uh, DC arch will also be a military complex full of drones and snipers.
and we'll hold large quantities of sniper ammunition and storage.
Is there a great need for snipers in Arlington, Virginia?
Yeah.
Are we afraid the terrorists are going to attack our dead soldiers?
Well, I mean, the other one, as long as it has a large quantity of sniper ammunition and storage, that's the biggest deterrent.
It's actually made of bullets.
So you don't want to mess with this thing.
You ever try and touch one?
It'll kill you.
So there's that.
That again, terrifying.
Like the lot, like you can just see his weird logic where he's like, oh, well,
uh, if it's, if it needs, if there's no justification for it, then it's going to be a made of snipers
and be a national security military complex where I'll have the nuclear codes.
Okay.
Sure, dude.
Hey, man.
Look over there.
It's a shiny ball.
It is like, we, because.
Because we always talk about how they do, you know, they tell the lies about themselves that they're
like suspect or, you know, they accuse the other side of what they're doing.
It feels like this is an instance where they are using the distraction tactics that would
work on him, you know, like literally just a shiny ball or keys jangling is like what it
would take to distract him.
Do you think he'll make it to the end of the term?
It's a great question, Miles.
I'm no doctor, but he seems to be doing great.
So it's interesting because there's like a lot of just more rounds of like the, is he okay?
Coverage is being like written about?
But I'm like, everyone needs to be writing about like this guy is not a serious person because of the he's just completely,
uh, his, the level of senility as well should actually keep him out of any kind of office.
even a doctor's office he shouldn't go to.
Sir, we're going to need to bring you over here and kind of keep you contained.
We don't feel like you can be trusted with this many editions of AARP magazine.
But you know what, sir, we've got weird.
We've got a new situation room we've set up for you.
And it's got all these nuclear codes in the form of these really colorful plastic balls.
And there's like thousands of them in there, man.
And only you can be trusted with them.
Like a situation room with like lighting up like, you know, almost like a game of Simon.
Like the buttons all light up.
And like when you press some of them, they make like a squeaky sound.
Yeah, he's playing bop it.
Twist it.
Right?
Crank it.
Um, let's take a quick break.

What I try to do is faux journal.
I don't know.
Have you guys heard of faux journaling?
Yeah, it's reading.
It's called reading.
So we don't like to use that word anymore.
Okay.

Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class?

Hey, it's Bobby Bones.
Join me and former NFL quarterback Matt Castle every Wednesday on our podcast,

We also bring in friends, they're mostly Matt's friends,

and then we have some really great conversations
that can pretty much go anywhere.
The great Pac-Man Jones.
After the game, the whole national task force for police officers was at the stadium.
Like, hey, buddy, yeah, you Adam.
Come up.
And one of my favorite segments we do is called situational awareness,
where Bobby and I give each other real-life situations
and figure out what we'd actually do.
You're in training camp, and the rookie quarterback
has one good throwing session in front of the media.
Suddenly, everybody online says he should start over you week one.
How do you handle this?
You just go back out to practice the next day,
and wait for him to mess up.

And we're back.
We're back.
And Ed Shearin finally kicked off his tour in Philadelphia on Saturday.
day and it did not go.
It didn't go great.
Didn't go great.
Ticket prices plummeted to around $37.
The start time had to be rescheduled from 5.30 to 8 p.m.
Since all the support acts dropped out.
And before his set,
Shear and took a moment to speak from the heart of whichever PR person drafted an apology
and threw it on a teleprompter for him to read.
it's it kind of felt like a cross between a school book report and that video of Ashton Kutcher and Milakunis
apologizing we can play a little bit of it just so you can hear just know that his eyes keep darting
down to the teleprompter to figure out how he's going to make sense of his non-position
unity not division about humanity not politics yeah this is
a humanitarian issue.
And I cannot hide how I feel about it anymore.
Oh, how do you feel?
What happened in Israel and at the No Music Festival on October 7th was horrific.
Oh.
Hounded centuries of Jewish pain.
What is happening?
Yeah.
All right.
Yeah, Jewish pain.
What the fuck is this?
Such a weird, it goes on, he's like, he has to evoke, he evokes October 7th
and juxtaposing that with Jewish pain and completely decontextualizing the occupation,
the ethnic cleansing that's happened for decades.
It's just a very,
it's a very, very sad attempt
to try and say nothing
in the hopes that it sounds like
something to move the conversation along.
And it absolutely failed.
Yeah.
In that respect.
And then at the end of the concert,
he was like,
and guys,
I'm so sorry that I had to like say shit up top
that I know we don't like to deal with that stuff,
but people just.
just are on my ass about it.
And I just felt like I had to say,
I'm sorry,
I just felt, yeah,
right, not my publicist.
I felt I had to say something out loud
for everyone to know where,
where I'm at on this.
He seemed kind of like relieved at the end of the show.
I don't know if you notice,
like when you juxtapult,
like when you look at the beginning,
he's like super tense,
just reading this like teleprompter message.
And then at the end,
he's like, very emotional.
It was like kind of crying.
And it almost felt like,
he thought because they cheered for the show.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That like the rest,
like now everyone has moved on
because we're good here.
The couple of people who went to the show in Philly
were like they didn't leave early.
He's like, yeah, and thank you guys.
You know, he was, fuck.
I'm glad that he has the right people
because his stage,
he has like a second stage that he sets up
that's closer to the audience
and he dismantled it for the Philly show
because they're like,
we don't know about these Phillies.
And he apologized for that.
He was like, and there would have been another stage for like the loop because it's like the loop tour.
But I'm scared of you.
Yeah, yeah.
But he was like, I didn't know what was going to happen.
And I'm so sorry.
Oh, shut up.
Oh, you're, oh, no.
You didn't know if Philadelphians are going to throw water at you.
And he didn't like mention McElmore or anybody's right to like say, you know.
He said that he didn't like that people's.
free speech.
It was just a very roundabout way.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, and carefully
lawyered and both sides did.
He had to both sides did.
I mean, and of course,
because anybody who, because if you don't,
then, then you become pro-Palestinian.
Oh God. You don't want that.
Yeah, you don't want that.
And certainly that's,
and that's working so well for you, Ed Sharon.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
So, uh, we'll see what the next show,
next show and the next show
How many shows is he supposed to?
Like I feel like they don't fully,
they haven't fully appreciated
the complexity of the situation
or the, you know,
seriousness of the situation they're in.
Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, so like what?
He's got, well, luckily he'll be at
Daddy Bobby Crafts House
for the next two shows at Gillette Stadium.
Oh, good.
September 25th, 26th.
Then he's going to Atlanta, Indianapolis,
Charlotte.
I mean, it's still,
it's still going on.
cheering bro.
Like, who are?
The shape of you.
Oh, fuck, bro.
I need to see, like, research on, like, the demographics of the edge here and super
fans that are out here.
Yeah.
Because I know he's got some hits, but.
He has, like, the kind of hits that are, like, if you have lost your mind working
in a dental office.
Right.
Then you're like, oh, yeah, this one.
Oh.
I know this one.
Play the shape of me.
Yeah.
Um, all right.
Let's talk about the upcoming
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
colon the further misadventures
of Cliff Booth
which is a
$200 million sequel
to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Two hundred million?
Directed by the Finchman
David Fincher. His movies are always
crazy expensive I feel like
even though he uses
a lot of a lot of
digital and stuff like that
but I think he generally spends a lot.
So this is,
Quentin Tarantino wrote the script.
David Fincher is directing it because Tarantino doesn't want to,
you know,
break his weird 10 film limit rule.
This would be his 10th film.
And he said like a long time ago that he was only going to make 10 movies.
And now he's like stuck trying to figure out what the 10th movie is.
And he wrote this one and then gave it to David Fincher.
And then he wrote the one about the movie critic.
And then like that one is now off.
he's also been living in Israel
and admitted he wasn't on
no no Tarantino
oh okay sorry yeah
and admitted he wasn't on set
much despite being one of the producers
because he likes to chill in Israel
interestingly but it's
his read on the
so this is a Netflix movie
and his
quote on this being a Netflix movie
he said this movie that I'm going
that I'm doing with Netflix is the biggest budget movie I've ever done by $100 million.
It's like a $200 million movie.
And the box office doesn't matter.
I mean, it doesn't matter.
Fuck all.
Not fuck all.
Netflix don't care.
They don't care.
So it's a little like gambling with the casino's money.
Which is like so funny.
Like this guy who's supposed to be the ultimate fan of cinema and like he has a movie theater.
Right.
It's just like it's great.
They don't care if people go see it in theaters.
it's awesome. I think more just from his perspective as a filmmaker, right, that there's no pressure for
performance, but also it is a weird sentiment to be like, dude, it's like, I'm fucking pissing money away
and they don't give a fuck. Right. You sound like a teenager who's like parents left for the weekend
and left like the keys to the Bentley. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Might be. It might actually be too,
too good to be true. The trailer fucking, I did not. I'm just like, dude, why are we bringing this character back?
I know.
So they're leaning into like all the questionable shit about.
So there was like the first movie, it's Brad Pitt's character.
And the first movie, like the two things that people were like,
oh, that's not great were one, he beat up Bruce Lee.
And Bruce Lee was like played as a kind of an arrogant asshole.
Yeah.
And like Brad Pitt is like able to kick his ass.
but it did feel like it was sort of an unreliable narrator type situation.
Like it was like the way it was filmed like it's a story that somebody tells at a bar
to other people that they're having beers with.
But this movie like kind of doubles down on that.
I mean also like let's not remember.
The other thing about Cliff Booth was like,
he murdered his wife?
Yeah, that's the other one.
It's the other one.
I was building to that one.
Some allegations against him for his own personal life.
very odd.
In the first movie, they,
it's like a rumor about him.
And then they show him out on a boat with his wife in a moment where it's like he could
have then murdered his wife,
but they like leave it kind of vogue.
Yeah, really cool Tarantino moment.
Yeah.
But this is from,
I think the script,
or maybe it's the novelization which Tarantino also wrote,
of this sequel.
They're like,
you know what?
That was too vague.
We got a.
really let people know that this guy murdered his wife.
So it says,
this wasn't the first time Cliff committed murder and got away with it,
Tarantino,
right?
The first time was in Cleveland in the 50s.
The second time was when Cliff killed his wife two years earlier.
This was the third time and Cliff got away with this one too.
Like this is so,
I don't know,
I mean,
I get that maybe in the 90s,
Tarantino having like a character that was like killing his wife
and still like a main character.
Like,
oh, okay, cool.
, maybe there's so complete.
It's like, well, the deal is that everybody's like a bad person in this.
This is just so on the nose and odd and just like kind of total misread of like everything around Brad Pitt and what people even just want.
Yeah, I don't think people are dying to have Brad Pitt in a role that reminds them of, you know, spousal abuse.
Yeah, yeah.
But hey, man, look, that's a cool thing about doing all this stuff from Israel, man.
Super chill, man.
you don't get kind of like caught up and like second guessing your fucking weird ass creative
impulses sick sick um well speaking of sick um we got we got a new king in hollywood yep
no i'm not talking about zach cragher who's movie did well over the weekend i'm talking of course
about uh david ellison yeah dude he's done it he did it so right after talking like he was going to
relocate Paramount Studios out of Los Angeles.
Him and the other goons behind the Paramount Warner Brothers merger have settled with the state
attorneys general.
Not great because you'd rather them be like, no, we're going to trial and you will not
be able to do this.
But they settled.
And the settlement includes, quote, the creation of independent editorial boards for CNN
and CBS and a $30 million penalty per.
film for any shortfall against Paramount's pledge to release 30 movies annually,
according to sources.
So, yeah, okay, I'm glad that there is some kind of independent editorial board for
like the cable news channels, but still, uh, still feels very gamable.
I don't know.
Like, okay, like, that's, that sounds like a nice headline.
And then with the 30 million penalty, like they, Warner Brothers and Paramount combined were
set to release 28 or 29 films this year.
so it's not too far outside of like what they would normally be doing.
Yeah.
And as we know,
like they do not mind spending money to not release movies.
Like they tried to not release the Coyote v. Acme thing.
Right.
Because it was just,
you know,
a rounding error to them.
So I don't feel like $30 million is going to be a big enough deal
to prevent him from killing.
And apparently like the threat to the industry and the people that work in the industry
and the wages becoming lower and stuff like that.
that wasn't enough of a concern for there to be a settlement.
And it sounded like before this, there was a lot.
There was a,
the negotiators on the settlement were split from the attorney's general side about like
how it could have gone harder, which I'm not surprised by.
But I mean like knowing that, you know,
you had Gavin Newsom,
the governor like rah-wrying this merger and not thinking that this was going to be
nearly as bad as it is going to be.
It makes sense that, you know,
that Attorney General Bonta of California
would be like, oh man, let's fucking do it like this
dude, just make a little root easier.
It felt like, yeah, they
were at odds over this, but maybe this
was the
fucking compromise that
Bonta and Newsom have reached, but
I'm sure we'll know more because this was just announced
like as we were recording this.
So, Gavin Newsom, whose most
notable public
policy positions
are being against the billionaire
tax and his
strategy for dealing with the unhoused population in Los Angeles is going and tearing down
himself.
Himself.
He can't say himself with his hands to be like, look at me.
They can't say anything bad about me now.
Yeah, they can't say.
I had Ben Shapiro on my podcast.
So Ben Shapiro, uh, fucking Charlie Kirk.
Didn't he, I wasn't Charlie Kirk one of his first guests to?
Yeah.
I think that's probably right.
Yeah.
It's anyway.
So he likes, he's also a fan of both.
Both.
All right.
Those are some of the things
that are trending on this.
Monday, September 21st.
We are back tomorrow
with the whole last episode
of the show.
Until then, be kind to each other.
Be kind to yourselves.
Get your vaccines,
well, you still can't.
