Starting point is 00:00:05 Oh, you know what did happen? The lady who had the diarrhea at the CrossFit thing, she gave up her winner's medal. She was like, I shouldn't, I should have stopped. So? I made a mess. I don't know. I think because the backlash got so, did you know about this?
Starting point is 00:00:19 No. There's like, do you know what Hirox is? It's like CrossFit. So there's huge competitions. Yeah. And there was a huge tournament in China. And this Australian competitor, she had diarrhea mid competition and just didn't stop. And everyone was like,
Starting point is 00:00:34 Bro, you got us. I mean, I get it. The indomitable spirit of a competitor. Let me ask you this, is it she's, like, as she's shitting herself, there are competitors behind her. Yeah, they're all in, like, lanes. So, like, you'll be, like, lifting,
Starting point is 00:00:49 like, carrying a bunch of weight. Okay. With, like, you know, shit streaming down your leg. And someone next year is like, or behind you, you, like, what the fuck? Well, it's like everybody else stopped, but not her. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:00 On the other hand. She said, I'm genuinely sorry is what she. Oh, okay. On the other hand. Why do we shit ourselves when we're scared to protect ourselves from predators? So this is just her doing what the human body was designed to do. Is this what like a school nurse told you once after you shit your pants? No.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Why do we do it? That is actually a sign of power. Sit in your power, snakes have venom. You know, porcupines have their quills. Some cowards have their shit that comes out of them that protects them. It does kind of make sense. I don't think that that's correct. That IDS is a survival mechanism?

Hello, the internet, and welcome to season 457 episode 4 of Dernelie Zikeis, the production of iHeartre Radio. It's a podcast where we take a deep dive into America's shared consciousness through the day's news. We also have a non-news history version of TDZ dropping each Monday morning called the iconograph,
Starting point is 00:05:58 where we do a deep dive into the zeitgeist through the lens of a different icon. And on Monday, we drop. Oprah. Hell yeah. Yeah. I don't know. We talked about it all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:10 You know, the Tom Cruise couch jumping, which I think is a bit of a Howard Dean moment. Yeah, sure, sure, sure. When you go back and watch that clip and see how the crowd was reacting to everything he did, it was like a psychological experiment where Tom Cruise was the only subject, and they were just trying to gas this motherfucker up. I blame the women in that room as old. I mean, he's obviously crazy and had just fired his manager, who usually, was like,
Starting point is 00:06:41 Don't jump off the weird shit, Tom. You're being weird as fuck. Anyways, all that and more in the Oprah episode. Those episodes drop on Monday. They're evergreen. Go listen to them whenever. Right here, right now, right here. Right now.
Starting point is 00:06:54 It's Thursday, September 24th, 2026. September 24th is National Cherry's Jubilee Day. Shout out everyone's grandparent who loves that for dessert, because it ain't me. Also, two things I do like. It's National Orchata Day. And also, shout out my. Puerto Ricoa. This is National Mofongo Day. Okay. Moriqua. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Have you had Mofongo before? Mm-hmm. Oh, God. I'm gonna want it now. God damn it. Uh-oh. We've been completely direct. God, damn. Because I used to live by a good spot in North Hollywood that had it all the time,
Starting point is 00:07:27 and now it's not in my life as much as I'd like it. I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah, yeah. Shout out to all the people who are celebrating today. Mm-hmm. National Mofongongone. My name is Jack O'Brien, aka, oh, The shark, babe,
Starting point is 00:07:41 ate that boy dear. And they showed his bloody raft. Just a quick bite. And those big teeth, babe. And that kittener was out of sight. That courtesy of Snarkville on the Discord. That's Mac the Knife by Bobby Darren. Shout out to my friend Doug from college,
Starting point is 00:08:01 who any time there was a karaoke night, would just do Mac the Knife. Wow. And kill, even though nobody really knows that song. I mean, I just know Mac Tonight. Yeah. That's what it's based off of? That's what Mac tonight.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Tonight, yeah. Back tonight is based off of Mac the knife. Dang. Which is based off of a like German song from, I think, around the time of the Nazis. Oh, great. It's going to be joined as always by my co-host, Mr. Miles Gray. Hey, it's Miles Gray, aka Dolphosaurus Flex, aka Thymonds in the Rough, aka Thylord of Flankersham, aka the Shogun of Loguns.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Shout out to Snarkyla. Yeah. You got low guns. Yeah. Low guns is good. Yeah. I kind of like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Not Logan Paul. Yeah. Lower guns. Call me low gun, Paul, because of these. Because these quads, homie. Yeah. Got suns out, guns out, and you just pull your shorts up a little bit. Pull my shorts out and then they ask me to leave the Starbucks.
Starting point is 00:08:56 Hey, could you get out of here? Miles were thrilled to be joined in our third seat by one of our very favorite guests, the comedian, actress, musician, writer, author behind poems I wrote while taking a shit, which has a mention before we record. Also a book I read while taking a shit. And the wonderful book, which I've just been gifted a copy of, Cry for me, Argentina.
Starting point is 00:09:17 My life is a failed child star. Please welcome back to the show, The Hilarious, the talented. Tomorrow you're here! Hey! Hey! Hey! I had a contraction while you were saying that shark song.
Starting point is 00:09:30 I saw your touch your stomach and I go, is it? Because you're 39 weeks pregnant? Yeah, I'm like nine and a half months. It's the most pregnant. I've ever been. Every day will be the most making you've ever been.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Thank you for coming in. This is incredible. Oh my God. What else am I going to do? I know. At first I was like, are you okay to come in? And you did say,
Starting point is 00:09:50 no, I need to get out of the house. Yeah. Or I'm laying down all day. I'm laying down all day. This way I'm talking to people, like the babies experiencing things. Oh,
Starting point is 00:09:59 you can show the baby, this clip. How many times? There you are. Oh, it's amazing. There you are in that part where they were talking about diarrhea. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:07 And I was grabbing my stomach when he was talking about Mac the knife. I came, I did this podcast in my first, second, and now third trimester. That's so what. Isn't that special? Right before. Yeah. You were one of the first two people that found out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Over Zoom. Wow. Because I don't think, did you say it on air? I think afterwards you told us. Yeah. I couldn't tell people yet because it was like too soon. And then we cut that into the episode. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Right. We did. We did. Total betrayal of trust. But it's okay. It was worth it. Wow. You're like godfathers.
Starting point is 00:10:39 I know. Look at us. You heard that, you heard that, right? We're podfathers. Can I say his name? Yeah. Dad, you heard that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:45 My husband's sitting here monitoring everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You should be. I mean, with 39 and a half weeks pregnant? Yeah, I didn't know you could go to, you went to 10 months. It's not nine months pregnant. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:59 That's, right? Why they say nine months when it's 10 months? I don't know. Nine times four, 36 weeks. I don't know, because it's in around 30. Because you complete the nine months. Yeah, I don't know. At this point, I'm just like a sort of job of the hut that like moves around.
Starting point is 00:11:12 Yeah, yeah, yeah. With a better talk. Because male doctors were just like, ah, whatever. Nine months. It's nine-ish. Do you remember that movie nine months with you, Grant and Tom Arnold? Yeah, now you're talking about my favorite movie. I've learned two together.
Starting point is 00:11:25 That was one of, you know, like, you're in trouble. You know, like, weird movies that have medical scenes inform your understanding of like actual science. I've never given birth as a 12-year-old boy. But I was like, oh, okay, so if they carried up here, it's a girl. And if they carried down. Although it's a boy. Because Tom Arnold said that with a basketball at a toy store. And I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:43 I remember saying that's like a pregnant, like adult friend of my parents. I'm like, that looks like you can be a boy because it's lower. And they're like, what? The shit people tell you. It's unbelievable. Yeah. The boy thing everybody's like, oh, you're having a boy, right? I'm like, no, not really.
Starting point is 00:11:57 And they're like, oh, because it's low down. Yeah. What's that based off of nine months? Nine months? Nine months. Have you seen a moon nine months? It's all based off of nine months. Tom Arnold said.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Yeah. Yeah. we actually didn't have a OB-GYM when we gave her. We just went off of nine months. We're like, we're covered. We're good guys. Baby, you're a doctor and I've seen nine months. So I think we're all right here.
Starting point is 00:12:18 I think so will call me a subject matter expert, an SME, if you will. Anyways, thank you so much for being here. A pleasure. We're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment. First, a couple of things we're talking about. We've got a Palestinian-Rachel Dolazol that just dropped in Philadelphia. Oh, my God. New genre.
Starting point is 00:12:35 of Rachel Dahlzal Philadelphia, Palestinian. Wait till I unravel this for everyone. Remember, because I was talking about how Instagram thinks I'm from Philadelphia. Yeah. So I'm getting a ton of many ways you're a Philadelphia,
Starting point is 00:12:51 Rachel Dahl. Pretending. I'm a stolen valor. Rachel Dullochal. Yeah. Check out this new article in the inquire. So now I'm getting a ton of Philadelphia Inquirer posts and I'm like,
Starting point is 00:13:05 Perfect. Throughout which, I mean, this is becoming a national story, but I credit my Philadelphia and Rachel Belichshall. Yeah. All right. We're going to talk about that. We're going to talk about the trailer for the new Nathan Fielder, Elizabeth Holmes documentary that gave everybody chills.
Starting point is 00:13:21 I'm still weird. And you like don't know why. I feel like any bad drugs. Yes. I don't know if you know this term like the drug freakouts? If you're like kind of high and like, something's wrong. Oh, you mean every time I took drugs? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:34 That's what that trailer. made me feeling like something's wrong. Yeah. But I kind of like it. My skin always feel like this. Yeah. I tried to have a therapy session when I was on mushrooms with my ex-boyfriend and I would break up with him.
Starting point is 00:13:46 We were like high as kite. Like with a therapist? No, like I was the therapist. Oh. And I was like, let's sit down and discuss our relationship. And that was the worst feeling of like, that's what that trailer made me feel. I couldn't think of, yeah, you're on mushrooms and you're like, let's dig up some deep. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Shit. Let's actually go deep. Yeah. Fucking just grab it by the scrush. Going nose to nose with that shit. We're going to talk about that trailer. We're going to talk about another thing. We don't have to go off the trailer anymore, folks.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Run, hide, fight infidels is out. Yeah. We've all seen. Oh, no, I guess we haven't seen it. Oh, you did? I still haven't seen it. There were free tickets at the box of it. But this is the new daily wire joint.
Starting point is 00:14:29 Yeah. It has some pretty incredible moments that are going viral. for all the wrong reasons. We're going to talk about Slice Stallone's role in the Trump administration or lack thereof and just take this opportunity to marvel at Slice Stallone's face. Yeah, and even though. He looks like he has another face under his face at this point. The filler is terrifying.
Starting point is 00:14:53 That's what I look like right now, nine months pregnant. No, but the thing is, Tim, you're not pulling off the swollen catcher's mitt face like he is. He looks incredible. Yeah, I mean, what is he? It's a sort of clown. 79 years old. He looks great. He put up one that I put in the dock, too.
Starting point is 00:15:11 I just, there's something. Yeah, it's just like, there it is. The filler looks a little uneven. Uneven. He went too hard on his left side. Is he doing at home filler? He's a sort of chipmunk. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:26 Oh, well, look. It's kind of wild. I love you. I don't know, maybe we don't. All of that plenty more, but first time, we do like to ask our guests. What is something from your search history that is revealing about who you are? Well, my last search history was, what are warts? Did you guys know what warts are?
Starting point is 00:15:44 No. And now that you mention it, I should. Yeah. I have a wart on my face. I think it's pregnancy related. But it's actually, you get a cut on your skin and then HPV enters. What? Oh.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Can you believe? It can't be right. Right? I mean, you tell me. I don't trust Google now because you get those AI searches. Well, that's why you don't look at that. You always have to turn that off because that's the dummy zone of the internet. That will make you progressively stupid or if you rely on whatever.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Ignore the dummy zone of the Google research results. And that's what I'm reading to you. Yeah. But there must be some truth. I don't know if it's what I have in my face. Look, you guys, do you see it? Uh-huh. That's HPB.
Starting point is 00:16:30 That's HPV on my space. No, wow. Most commonly the human botryoma virus causing small, rough surface. You get a cut and then the papaloma enters. It's amazing the things you don't know about your body. So what does that mean? There's this HPV, like ambient. Like, because like if they say like if you get it on your foot, like a planter ward.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Yeah. Right. Like, but it comes from your hand and you've been touching an HPV. Wow. I've been touching an HPV. I have a feeling this is wildly scientific. That's what I think too. But it does say that that is, it's, this is from the St. Louis Children's Hospital.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Why would they lie? Right. Or it's our common about 10% again of children and are caused by a virus, most commonly, human papillomal virus. I think there's different kinds of human papilloma. Right. Oh, yeah, yeah. I don't know, but it's crazy the things of our bodies that we don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:21 It's like, where's my liver? Like the other day I was like, what is a contraction? How does birth happen, you know? Yeah. I can't quite explain it to you, but basically. Basically, a contraction means your, not your pussy, but you're dilating. Your pussy's opening. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:17:39 So it pulls up. It goes, and meanwhile, your hole is expanding. That, yeah. And then when the baby's going to come out, it does the opposite. It pushes. It goes, right, right. And then. Again, this is how your doctor explained it to you, right?
Starting point is 00:17:57 Is your doctor a doctor? This is also me looking online. Googling how birth. I just look at the top of Google. That's what it said. Damn. So words go away, though, right? Because I remember I had a word on my hand when I was a kid.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Lots of kids get warts on their hands. I don't have to tell you how I got it. I guess anymore. Is that when you were working on a farm? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Were you touching the cows? You know what I'm so?
Starting point is 00:18:26 Wow. I'll get them all burned to all because pregnancy can bring on skin tags and stuff. Dude, pregnancy brings out all kinds of things. It's amazing. I'm like a Christmas tree with ornaments hanging off of it. Temporary. Are you having heartburn, too? Yes.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Okay. So that baby's going to have a thick head of hair. That does feel like the thing that is consistent. A doctor said that's not an old wife's tale. That's actually real. Good, good, good. She has hair. That seems like the most made up one though.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Like I heard that too. Yeah. That's going to be a lot of dick head of hair on that one. Right. The growing of hair causes heartburn. Yeah. What? No.
Starting point is 00:19:00 The fuck are you talking? about. Oh, are you a doctor? No, but I just don't like what you say. Right. So, like, fuck that. Babe's going to be all hairy and shit. What is something you think is underrated? Oh, has anybody said bidets ever? Oh, yeah. Bidays. Yeah, yeah. Let me just tell you something. Okay. I'm from Argentina where there's bidet in every bathroom. Oh. I was raised with a bidet. Uh-huh. And now, not to bring it all back to pregnancy, see, even though that's what I'm experiencing right now, it's hard to wipe my ass.
Starting point is 00:19:34 Oh, sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And so I would really love a bidet and Americans don't have them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You got one at your house, though, probably, right? No, I don't. You don't have the attachment? I don't have the attachment.
Starting point is 00:19:45 But I started, I know, this is just pure laziness. I need to get one because there's always shit stuck. And now I'm doing the wet wipes. Just blast it off with the water, baby. Let's get one. Wow, we're making big decisions here. For Christmas. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Yeah. I mean, you have a delivery to get to. So we can, we'll put a pin in that. Maybe you guys can buy me one. I think that's exactly. Oh, thank you. Give us your address. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:20:13 And your social security number and your data. And your credit, some other stuff. But we will send you one, yes, for sure. It is important to our effort. For real, for us. I'm so excited. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:21 You need, what's the one that used to advertise? No promo, but, no promo, but a tushy. Tushy. Oh, that's the brand? That's like the easy. That's like the one you can just put on your toilet seat. And then you can just, boop, boom, turn it on and on. See?
Starting point is 00:20:33 And I thought I was like this big bidet noer. And like, I'm the last one in the United States to have a bidet, I guess. Oh, yeah. When my house burned down, the first thing I did was get a Japanese toilet seat. Like, because I was like, I got nothing. But I will have the cleanest asshole in the way that my ancestors designed it technologically. It's important. It's important.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Okay. Yeah. Changes will happen. Yeah. Good, good, good. Should have been listening to the ads, not skipping through the ads. guys. Yeah, you got a promo code.
Starting point is 00:21:03 You're going to cost us $20, damn. Oh, okay, great, great. What is something you think is overrated? Thoughts, thinking. I, like, haven't been thinking lately, and it's so nice. Wait, like, you can't summon thoughts? Yeah, I'm just like, uh, like, flying brain activity.
Starting point is 00:21:20 It's like Homer Simpson style. Like, that's why I'm like, I need to come on a podcast so I can, like, activate. Yeah. Because I'm just like, uh, and I just watch, like, Eileen Warno stuff and I'm like it's all my only. What's Eileen Warno's? The serial killer.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Oh yeah, yeah. Monster. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just like stuff about her and she was amazing. She shouldn't have died and it's like all I think about is kind of like nothing or Eileen Warnos. Yeah. And it's great. Yeah. No other thoughts at all. It's you're truly nothing or I'm
Starting point is 00:21:54 nothing or am I having a contraction? Sure. And that's it. Yeah. Is Am I? Are you always, were you always into murder stuff or has the pregnancy, like, kind of been like, yeah, I'm kind of down to watch the articles and murder stuff. Do you remember you said I had the Antichrist inside last time I came or something like that? That was a cool thing to say. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:13 We had to laugh. You know, it felt good. There was a darkness. No, I've been darker during the pregnancy for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm into it. Yeah. But like these last two months, there's kind of nothing going on upstairs.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Yeah, because all your energies is going south. To my vagina. Yeah. To your womb. Yeah. Yeah. So I recommend it if you ever. Just not think.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Can just turn it off. Not want to think. Yeah. And you're not missing it. No. You can turn it off and you won't be like, ah, haven't thought in a while. I think about it and I'm like, oh, I can't wait to keep not thinking. Right.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Guys, it's wonderful. I guess that's what antidepressants do a little bit or like drugs. They can do that too. Yeah. Dull some of the thinking. Yeah. Well, you're about to do a lot of thinking. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:22:58 I'm cheering the fuck out right now. Yeah, yeah. Let your brain be a little break because it's about to change. I wonder if that's what aging is because the studies show that people as they get older become happier. I wonder if it's just like like started turning the stuff a little bit. Totally. Yeah. I was just remembering when I was like in my 20s like freaking out about guys.
Starting point is 00:23:24 Yeah. Sure. Right. Relationships. Like what the, all this waste of. I were being stressed about how to text. Like a date back? And I'm like, what am I fucking doing?
Starting point is 00:23:32 Do I do? What do I do? But also now I'm just like a washed married person. So it's like, I don't know. Well, now I'm like, how do I argue with my wife over text now? Right. But it's like still easier. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:43 Yeah, because you're not going to break up. Right. Yeah, we love each other. It's great. What did what did the movie monster get wrong? Anything? Well, I haven't watched Monster. I watched Monster a couple years ago.
Starting point is 00:23:58 But now I'm watching the, there's a documentary. about her on Netflix. Sure. Right. She was a star. Really? She was a big personality. Yeah, she was amazing.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Like, she had a fucked up life. She was, like, raped a bunch of times. Then she said, fuck this. I'm over it. I'm going to start killing people. And like, good for her. Yeah. And also like, sorry.
Starting point is 00:24:19 Wow, I'm fired up. No, she's a star. No, I like going. She's a star. Like, she would be super famous today. She is super famous for me. I don't know. I just think like she should still be alive.
Starting point is 00:24:29 today. What do you mean like not? Was she executed? The electric chaired her. Oh, so you at the very least you're like, how about a life? A life.
Starting point is 00:24:38 That's what I'm saying. Fine. Because it would be more content. Exactly. Could be writing to her. The trial was unfair. It was all unfair. If you could talk to Eileen Warnos,
Starting point is 00:24:48 what would you ask her and what would you tell her? I would ask her to give me a little kiss. Bites your fucking cheek off. No, she would be nice. She's nice for women. Yeah. Okay. and then what would you tell her about like what she,
Starting point is 00:25:01 if she's like, what? That I love her. Wow. Great. I love you and can you give me a kiss? How cute is that? Yeah. You have a podcasting career.
Starting point is 00:25:12 Elaine Warner. Yeah. Hell yeah. Amazing. Let's take a quick break. We'll come back. We will talk about Palestinian, Rachel Dalzol.

Our books are being banned, scanned by AI, and destroyed. I'm Jack Weiss Peace Thomas, and on this season of the Blacklit podcast, we're outside asking some of the custodians of our stories, teachers,
Starting point is 00:28:33 and our modern-day writers. Why? They don't want a whole bunch of little elevators, Michael Maxes and Martin Luther King's running around. They want to build children who have no empathy. That's really the ultimate goal. We want books that don't make white kids feel bad. So is the war on literacy and information
Starting point is 00:28:51 or our ability to connect? We want people to know how sexy reading is and how fun they could be and not always associated with education. It could be an escape. It could be entertainment. And that is the beauty of reading. It can be all of those things.
Starting point is 00:29:08 And considering this is Black Reading Month, the only real question is, what are you reading next? Listen to Black Lit from the Black Effect Podcast Network on our IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, it's Alec Baldwin. This season on my podcast,
Starting point is 00:29:25 here's the thing I'm speaking with more artists, policymakers, and performers like actor Stephen Root. I think for me to be any good for any character act to be any good. You've got to put enough of yourself and your empathy for people in it. I'm a people watcher. You see that guy going down the dream?
Starting point is 00:29:43 Yeah, I can use that. Open Igloo co-founder, Alia Mohamed. I love staying on top of what is going on in our city, what is going on in city politics, what is on renter's minds, and taking all of that knowledge to build a platform that hopefully is going to make New York City better in the long run. And actress and singer Melissa Eriko.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Partnership took on a whole other meaning when I started making my own work. It's like you with a great actress or actor. It was best to come out of your trailer, full of life, and just face another person who's full of life and don't talk. Listen to Here's the Thing on the IHeart Radio app Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, it's Bobby Bones. Join me and former NFL quarterback Matt Castle every Wednesday on our podcast. Lots to say with me Bobby Bones and Matt Castle. We also bring in friends, they're mostly Matt friends,
Starting point is 00:30:39 who are current or former NFL players, some of the biggest names in music and entertainment, and then we have some really great conversations that can pretty much go anywhere. The great, Pac-Man Jones. After the game, the whole national task force for police officers was at the stadium. Like, hey, buddy, yeah, you, Adam.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Come up. And one of my favorite segments we do is called situational awareness, where Bobby and I give each other real-life situations and figure out, what we'd actually do. You're in training camp and the rookie quarterback has one good throwing session in front of the media. Suddenly everybody online says he should start over you week one.
Starting point is 00:31:13 How do you handle this? You just go back out to practice the next day and wait for him to mess up. Listen to lots to say with Bobby Bones and Matt Castle on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The WNBA playoffs are about to begin. The talent is insane and the personalities are giving main character energy. And of course, the fans love it. But 30 years ago, when the league first started, it was a different story.
Starting point is 00:31:41 I remember sitting with a couple of male writers all whining about, oh, what are they going to do if they break a nail? No one's going to show up. But from the very beginning, there were two teams that captured everyone's attention. The comments were to real deal. I mean, come on. The Liberty never gave up. They never stopped fighting.
Starting point is 00:31:58 I knew that rivalry was going to be amazing from the beginning. I'm Kerry Champion, and this is Biggest Rew. Rivalries of all time, season two. The New York Liberty versus the Houston Comments, the very first rivalry of the WNBA. They picked us to finish last, and they picked them to finish first. That's all you need to know.
Starting point is 00:32:17 I remember looking around thinking, this is going to change things. Basketball was going to have this fundamental impact on the way people viewed women athletes. Listen to biggest rivalries of all time on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Is there bad blood between you in the comments as you guys meet again in the championship?
Starting point is 00:32:40 Oh, we're coming back to win. And we're back. And we, a new character just dropped. Yeah. Add it to the tournament of stories for the year, the end of the year. I know. You know, big, this is a big one. I think two new characters dropped that we're going to cover in this, in, in this section of the show.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Sure, sure. Absolutely. Yeah. Because also, I was not familiar with Elizabeth Holmes' husband. husband's game. None of us were. None of us were. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:17 But this All-Star is named Hannah Gann. And if you Googled her two weeks ago, you probably would have found write-ups and bios talking about how she's a veteran high school teacher working predominantly with black youth in Philadelphia public schools. You would have read that she was organizing students to protest the genocide and also scholasticide, like the destruction of schools, as well as passionately defending colleagues that risk their careers to speak up. And you would have read that pro-Israeli groups parked a mobile billboard outside of the school she taught at that said Philadelphia is leading anti-Semite.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Okay. So you're like, oh, shit, okay. So she's, she's about that. And you would have also read that she is Palestinian and black. Her grandfather was born in Palestine, but came to the United States. Well, it turns out that while her teaching accolades and activism were real, her identity was completely made up. Hanagan was not black, is not black, and she was not, is not Palestinian either.
Starting point is 00:34:20 That grandfather she was talking about was some guy who was born in Baltimore. Okay. I see where she was coming from. Baltimore is pretty active, to be fair. You're like, what the fuck? No, Hanagan is white,
Starting point is 00:34:34 Jewish, and actually comes from a wealthy family of Israeli settlers in the West Bank. Wow. The universe really gives. Yeah. Truly.
Starting point is 00:34:43 Everyone collected was like, huh? This all came out after like groups that she had worked with had heard about this and like basically grilled her for like an hour asking about her background. And I'll just read like what the what this, the what happened during this like meeting. Well, members met with Hannah and questioned her about her background on Thursday. After an hour of discussion, Hannah finally admitted she lied.
Starting point is 00:35:06 The Radical Justice Organizing Committee and Philly Educators for Palestine said in a statement. Gann had been a visible member of both groups. Quote, we asked her to publicly acknowledge that she is a white woman of Jewish heritage and an Israeli settler family. And so she's come out. She's made a statement in an Instagram post. She admitted the years-long fabrication that said she was a, quote, white woman of significant privilege and wealth. Quote, I hid the truth or outright lied about my background to everyone in my life. There was not a single person on this planet, no friend, no fellow work.
Starting point is 00:35:39 organizer, no one in my family, no professional connection, no secret op or handler who knew what I was doing. I hid my family's background from everyone in Philly and also hid from the people in my own family what I was doing. She said she, quote, allowed half truths and obfuscations to grow into outright lies, like when people think I'm from Philadelphia. Quote, genuinely wanted to commit to the work I was doing in spite of those lies. Now, what does this woman look like? She, okay, let me show you. Like I can't picture anything. I picture Rachel Dole as all.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Yeah. You're not that far off. Okay, here. Oh, wait, hold on. The Philadelphia inquiry just said, hey, well, let me just. Like, hey, you seem like you're really sick with this Philly shit, man. You want to subscribe? Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Whoa. That's what she was. What? So they were saying that she was using, like, she was using makeup. Yeah, you can tell. Yeah, she's orange. She's orange. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:39 If I was, I would have been like, oh, really? Where's your family from? That's interesting, interesting shade of orange that you are. Yeah. So this is obviously, like the betrayal has just shocked everybody that was working with her because they're like, I mean, she's so passionate about what she was doing. Right. And she was like, what is all this?
Starting point is 00:36:59 You know, but again, I think we have this woman pretending to be black and Palestinian creating like fake common ground over. oppression with her students, only to be unmatched as a LARPERS is fucking diabolical. Yeah. Wow. I think, you know, even though she genuinely seems to have her heart in the right place, like white supremacy has completely altered how she looks at oppression even. Right.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Like, she felt that using these identities, like, interchangeably bolstered her case as an activist. Yeah. And she wanted to maintain. Also, she gets to maintain her whiteness by fighting white supremacy as a black Palestinian. She's not a white person fighting white supremacist. She's not a traitor to her class or race. Which could have been more helpful in many ways. Yeah, it would have been more poignant.
Starting point is 00:37:44 Instead, she uses a very disposable identity because now she gets to go back to her privileged life. Right. You know what I mean? It's like, I mean, I don't know if her parents, like her parents are like, Hannah. What do you do as a parent? I mean, the thing is, as a parent, like, you've sewn that seat. Like, there's no way the family's normal. Oh, they're settlers.
Starting point is 00:38:04 They're like, right, right, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Also, that's like narcissism, like, yeah, yeah, that has to be about her. That's like the kind of family, like, where, like, I've, you know, you know people in like high pressure families, like where they can't tell their parents anything. Right. Yeah, yeah. Because they're like, dude, I guess I'd rather just say I'm black and Palestinian at this point than like even talk to my family. But yeah, I think it's just a very, again, looks at even to her like being a black Palestinian is like a disposable identity.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Even just to be like, oh, oh, well, it's like a tool I can use for the. this very specific purpose. But even then, it's so misguided because, like, to your point, you should be doing that as like an outspoken Israeli. Sure. Right. Yeah. Being like, this is what my family is. And I can tell that it's wrong. Yeah. And I don't, yeah, like, you don't have to then start using shitty, you know, CVS Tanner and shit and makeup and trying to be like, anyway, girl, because they said after she came back from teaching, uh, she's doing like Peace Corps work, I think in Rwanda. Like there was a like kind of a reset where people did didn't know her.
Starting point is 00:39:05 Yeah. And then she kind of was like in these spaces, kind of using AVE a little bit more talking like a, you know, black woman and then the Palestinian. And she just kind of like let that snowball into this thing now. I had a fake accent for like six months. Really? Well, I'm just, I'm only, I'm only trying to tell you because it's like people love to reimagine themselves.
Starting point is 00:39:30 Yeah, yeah, yeah. But like, they're not comparing. My fake accent. Wait, hold on. Yeah. I know. Yours isn't because you're doing activism. I'm trying to relay of like how does the like how mentally ill are you?
Starting point is 00:39:45 I would guess I was pretty mentally ill when I was faking this accent for six months. Because it's probably harder. It's because it is harder to betray your people in the face of an injustice. Right. It's easier to be like, well, I'm black and Palestinian. Of course this is some bullshit going on. Right. Fuck all this.
Starting point is 00:40:02 And it gets to feel heroic in the moment. Yeah. opposed to like being, you know, uncomfortable and being like, this is who I am. This is who my family is. She doesn't want to be a gentrifier going to your neighbor going, oh, my God, sorry. Sorry. Yeah, yeah. So it's even like, get these motherfuckers out of here.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Right. And it's like, well, isn't that you? So is Rachel Dolazol now like a more accepted? Do you think in society? Like, do you feel like people have come around to her now that she's like done only fans? Like, yeah. I don't know if the only fans helped. I mean, it might be helping her financially,
Starting point is 00:40:37 but I feel like she's, I mean, I just tried to Google what she was doing, but now everybody's calling this lady Rachel Dolanjol. So she just pops up. I think a lot of time has passed. And this is more harmful because there's like. Rachel Dolazzo somewhere just feeling like, oh, yeah. Damn, got that bump, but it ain't me anymore. But also, damn, now I'm a word.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Yeah, you are. I mean, yeah, you always work. Yeah, you are. Yeah, it's just a very, again, it's like, yeah. And it's just, I feel bad these students. You know what I mean? Yeah, that's rough. I don't think people, like, if you really think about what it takes for a student to open up to a teacher and be like, yeah, like, I'm going to be receptive to what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:41:14 I'll be vulnerable with you so we can create some kind of connection to use race in like such a like diabolically, uh, cynical, two-faced way is so fucking terrible. Like I really feel for these students because like, now you're like, who the fuck were you? It's like a really fucked version of that children's book, Miss Nelson is missing. Where like, do you remember that one? No. It's like this blonde teacher has like a bad class and then she disappears. Oh, and like this, this like scary witch comes in as like the new substitute teacher, but it's actually the blonde lady in like basically witch face.
Starting point is 00:41:52 Oh, shit. I didn't know that. Real mind. I know. When I looked up the picture, I'm like, yes. I know this. I know this book very well. I know this book very well.
Starting point is 00:42:01 She's just trying on a new little persona. She's trying something on and just larping in the face of like a very, very, as Ed Shearine would call it the most complex political issue on Earth. Oh, my God. But yeah, so it's, we'll see what, we'll see where she goes or this. Apparently she's trying to just be like, ah, yeah, I fucked up. I fucked up. I fucked up. I fucked up bad.
Starting point is 00:42:21 But, I mean, that's that. We'll see what happens. We will see. Yeah. We will see. Maybe she'll have a show on like Fox or something. Probably. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:29 Who knows? Or even MS now. You know, who knows? We believe in the ability to rehabilitate. She'll star in the next Daily Wire movie as like one of the people for the confidels to kill. You never know. All right. We do have to talk about this Nathan Fielder, Elizabeth Holmes documentary.
Starting point is 00:42:43 You can see everything just dropped a new trailer where we got to see more parts and got to see a little bit more of everything. Yeah. And it's, it didn't make me feel less weird. No, I'm unwell. No, the first one, like the first teaser we got was just a very tense interaction, right? Yeah, sure. Between the two. This time, like, you're getting more, it's like a full trailer, so you're getting a real breath of what this project might look like.
Starting point is 00:43:09 And I don't know if, like, Nathan Fielder's in trouble. If Elizabeth Holmes in it, I don't know what's going on, but every single thing they just sort of revealed was. Yeah. Shocking. It was giving me goosebumps. The, the husband being a part, I didn't know anything obviously. But I didn't even know anything about her husband. Yes.
Starting point is 00:43:31 But like now I'm dying to see it. The husband thing is so Nathan Fielder's like, so you fell in love with her. He's like fell in love with her right away. He was like, was that before or after you knew who she was? That was Beno was before. It was before. Which is like how? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Where were you during the when she was like on the cover of every magazine for like being a scammer? But anyways. and then he's like, and you weren't, when you found out, you weren't worried that she was, like, coming after you for a reason? And he's like, what would she be using me for? And he's like, isn't your family rich? And he's like, and he goes, yeah, but like, there's like levels to it. Like, we're, yeah, we're rich. We're not like oligarchs.
Starting point is 00:44:18 We're like petite, piti oligarchs. Yeah, great insight into like the mind of somebody with generational wealth. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, but we're not like the DuPonts. It's like, right. We have like hundreds of millions of dollars. Yeah, like 900 million, 50, 950 million probably. All told.
Starting point is 00:44:36 Right. I'm sorry, that's what it's in my trust. In my trust is 950 million. Yeah, yeah. That's, that's more I've access to. We don't want that billionaire tax. But yeah, seeing that was just to see like also that like, it's not just her lying to herself.
Starting point is 00:44:50 There's this partner now who like, now you're fascinated by like how much do you realize. And it, you can tell like, Nathan's trying to kind of be like, I don't think she's ever lied to you. Right. Like, just kind of taking him aside. It's... And like, I feel like she's also,
Starting point is 00:45:04 even though he's probably the worst person, like she's conning him, but I also feel like she's conning Nathan. Yeah. Like, there's no world where he's conned by her, but like it, but that's what it made me feel. Right.
Starting point is 00:45:17 Like, I feel crazy. All of the, like, the quotes that came up during the trailer also were bone chilling for me. I've never seen quotes come up like from critics. Yeah. On a trailer. Usually it's like five stars. This is a good movie.
Starting point is 00:45:35 But this one is always like I'm having an existential crisis. I like Roger Ebert like no other film I've ever experienced. Interesting. They're all like I'm kind of feel fucked. Yeah. Yeah. There was one that was like I will be thinking for this, about this movie for the rest of my life.
Starting point is 00:45:54 What was it? Variety. it said a, this is, this was the variety quote, a weirder and weirder journey than anyone might expect. And like the one you were talking about, wait, where is it? Someone, outright masterpiece. Oh yeah. This was
Starting point is 00:46:07 from awards radar. I may think about this movie for the rest of my life. That's the best blurb you could ever get. That really is. And like it's also not necessarily complimentary. No, no, no, no. I mean, not that it's bad for the film, but like just like the content was so jarring probably. It feels
Starting point is 00:46:23 like probably the way people reacted that first season of the rehearsal. Oh, my God. Oh, Nathan's like some kind of genius here. Like a sicko too. Yeah, just odd. But the way he's arriving at these things is so odd and roundabout. But like I can only imagine with this and Lance Oppenheim, who's just a great director
Starting point is 00:46:42 too. Yeah. I rode in an elevator with Nathan Fielder once and he was facing the back. He was facing like the wall? The people. Oh, like he got in the elevator. The doors closed and he's like. faced me.
Starting point is 00:46:56 So the door was like this, it closed. Yeah. And he didn't look at the door. Yeah, he just faced the people that were away. It was amazing. Were you at like an agency office or something? It was like, yeah, it was like a bit showbiz. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:08 I was going to say, like, I feel like that's the only place I've seen Nathan Filder who was like, I was at a meeting. Was he making eye contact with you? Um, I was too anxious to make eye contact back. But yeah, he was just kind of staring back at people. Yeah. That's interesting. Not a lot of people do that. No.
Starting point is 00:47:24 No, nobody does that. I know it's fucking crazy. Nobody does that. You're right. Guys, we should do it and see what happens. I believe you get your ass kicked. Yeah, no. I guess what if you come in?
Starting point is 00:47:35 Is there a way you could walk in with your back to the door and kind of play it cool? You got to say something. You can't just do it and I say you got to be like, hey, you know? Or like, how's everybody doing? Does the door close and like you lean on it like James Dean style? That's the scariest. It's like walking your way. Yeah, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:47:52 Yeah, I didn't think about that. No one's getting out. Hey lady, you think this is cool. I'm blocking the elevator doors to you and me. My God. Yeah, I saw him live once. And all he did was get up on stage, perform a Lana Del Rey song while making unblinking eye contact with the crowd in very slow, like the most uncomfortable five minutes. Like a cappella?
Starting point is 00:48:16 Yeah. Well, the backing track, but just sitting there like dancing slowly, sang the Lana Del Rey song, like looking at everybody. And then spent the whole thing being like, So I'm kind of good at like finding interesting people and like just was like looking into the crowd, like shielding his eyes from the light, looking into the crowd and then just pulling people up. And like two out of the three were like probably the weirdest people in the crowd. And like he can just like find them. He like interviewed them. And the third that wasn't the most interesting person like halfway through like, you know, five minutes into the conversation.
Starting point is 00:48:50 He was like, oh, you're drunk. Sorry. Sometimes it's I get confused. I think they're interesting and they're actually drunk. Whoa. He's like a psychic. He's like he has this weird. I think maybe that's what's so wild about this trailer is because like everyone's
Starting point is 00:49:04 already in awe of Nathan Fielder in that way. And everyone's in awe in another weird way of with Elizabeth Holmes. And to see them interact where Nathan Fielder is somehow in the back foot is like, you're like, what? No, no. Usually like you're dancing circles around weird people on camera. And you're in this one. you're genuinely like, fuck, I think I may have met my match.
Starting point is 00:49:28 Yeah. Whoa. I have chills. And she's in jail now, yeah? Yeah. So this was filmed right as she was about to go to jail. For over three years. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:37 Or they've been working on the last three years. But like, has not leaked one like, damn. No. Not like in that sense. There was a time where people saw Nathan outside of the jail. Uh-huh. And people were like, why is Nathan feel it outside the jail? Holding a boombox that was playing your eyes.
Starting point is 00:49:53 I think he might be compromised. But yeah, like, that was the closest, like, that was the only thing I could connect. Where I was like, oh, that's right. He was at that jail. And you're like, oh, this must have been for that. There is, for fans, long-time fans of his work, you get a little, a little treat because it has him laying in bed with the couple, like, doing the sort of side saddle thing, which he loves. He loves to sit, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:20 He loves to do like a weird, like, laying in bed with people. It just looks so weird. And I can only imagine how, again, I'm so curious to see it. Because I feel like you're going to see moments where like he's probably suggesting a way to do an interview and there's like a pushback or whatever. Just seeing all these little micro interactions, I think is fascinating. Because, I mean, we're all just looking at Elizabeth Holmes's face. I feel we all had the same reaction for that last shot when she was like, oh, my God, what did she say? I have trouble.
Starting point is 00:50:48 I've never. It took me a really long time to be okay with letting someone see me cry. And then like wills the tears since rising And then That one It was We were cheering in like a
Starting point is 00:51:01 Like a way We saw like a sharky to seal Yeah And the the You know Audio, the soundtrack When the tear comes Is like the omen
Starting point is 00:51:12 It's like dong That's the tear rolls on her face Like she modeled a lot of her shit Off of Steve Jobs And we did a Steve Jobs Icon episode And a thing that people who worked with him talked about was a thing called the reality distortion field where he you would
Starting point is 00:51:28 like be in a room with him and you'd know he was lying to you like he'd be taking credit for an idea you pitched him yesterday and he was like that idea fucking sucks get out of here you come in the next day and he's pitching an idea to you the same idea to you and a room full of people and people are like but you like believe him like he he has this like weird form of sociopathy where like, to the point that everybody worked with him had a phrase for it called the reality distortion field where you just like
Starting point is 00:52:00 when you're around him, you're like in this different thing and it takes you like a week of not being around him to be like, wait, that was fucking crazy right? And so I feel like she is like that's kind of what I'm reminded of. But she's not even like a wannabe of, you know what I mean? She's got the gift.
Starting point is 00:52:17 Well, we felt that after watching us seven second trailer. Yeah, right. Like, yeah, it's insane. I think like, oh, no, I could, that I would never. Yeah, right. And you do. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:28 I mean, it's like, you know, like any kind of people like, people like, like, negotiate, like, you call about framing and stuff. Like how like, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're actually dictating what the parameters are of an interaction. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:38 And she's just mastered that in a way where just, just like when he's clear, like, are you like, no. How would I lie to you? Wow. I have nothing to lie to you about. There's part of me that's, a psychopath that wishes I could be like that. I never could.
Starting point is 00:52:55 It's cool. I mean, look, you look up to, I mean, let's think about the documentary. I mean, I would never be like that. I'm like a kind person, but like, I want to experience manipulation. Yeah, yeah. On that's, but on that scale. No, not on that scale. I wish.
Starting point is 00:53:12 I mean, I wish I could do something like on that scale. It takes way too much energy. Well, I think like in relation to Warnos, I do feel like, were this a guy should probably just be a billionaire right now who's like at the forefront of AI or some shit. You know, like, I do think that, you know, the reason we're fascinated in that
Starting point is 00:53:34 is because it is just like a superpower in America. Yeah. Like having the ability to... It is very American. You're right. Oh, it's... Yeah. Just be full of shit and collect money for that. In a way that you can, like, convince everybody and yourself of whatever is beneficial
Starting point is 00:53:50 for you to believe in this moment. Well, I'm thinking now like Hitler. Mm-hmm. I mean, like, it's not like quintessential American. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Amazing dictators. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:02 Amazing dictators. Go. All right. All fantasy, everything. Which is your favorite. Yeah. I want to go up with Pol Pot first. Unexpected.
Starting point is 00:54:13 I know, dude. Wait, who is that? I don't know who that is. I don't either. I got to go. I'm going to Google it. Let's see. But yeah, I mean, I think it is like,
Starting point is 00:54:20 It is this thing that in America, we just love a fucking liar. You know what I mean? In this weird way. Like, think of like, you know, catch me if you can. Yeah. Pretty much. Everything. Yeah, everything like, all the characters, Leonardo DiCaprio is played.
Starting point is 00:54:34 Like, when you played Jordan, what's his face? And both Wall Street. Like, we kind of are like, the best. Fuck yeah, dude. Yeah, yeah. Although with Pheranos, it's more people are like, what though? Because I think it was such a blatant, like, being like, there's no fucking machine. There's no technology.
Starting point is 00:54:50 But in the same way, I mean, I don't know, we're all experiencing some level of that. It's like a magic trick. Yeah. Yeah, it is. It's like they're magicians. Yeah. Her voice is not as low as it used to be, though. But it is.
Starting point is 00:55:04 It's still low, but I find it fascinating. If it had been like, so, I would have been like, oh. It's just trying to go lower. It's so weird. Right, right. It's like right at this level where I'm like, is that her voice? Like, I feel like she's mastered it. Totally.
Starting point is 00:55:18 Yeah, yeah. And it almost feels like because of. like the sort of like PR marketing version of the Theranos Elizabeth Holmes we've seen. Yeah. It almost feels like, oh, are you being real now? Yeah. In a weird way. Like, it's like you, she seems a little more like soothing.
Starting point is 00:55:32 Yes. But underneath it, it's like feels like you're still like in a tank with a great white. It's saying she's a mother. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That poor, poor baby. Yeah. Well, I don't think the baby will be poor because the husband's right.
Starting point is 00:55:45 Yeah. I wouldn't worry about that. We're going to be all right. Yeah. Let's take a quick break. We'll come back and talk about more cinema. The music you love. I heart radio.

Here's the thing I'm speaking with more artists, policymakers,
Starting point is 00:58:53 and performers like actor Stephen Root. I think for me to be any good or for any character actor to be any good, you've got to put enough of yourself and your empathy for people in it. I'm a people watcher. You see that guy going down the dream and go, yeah, I can use that. Open Igloo co-founder, Alia Mohamed. I love staying on top of what is going on in our city, what is going on in city politics, what is on renter's minds, and taking all of that knowledge to build a platform that hopefully is going
Starting point is 00:59:23 to make New York City better in the long run. And actress and singer Melissa Eriko. Partnership took on a whole other meaning when I started making my own work. It's like you with a great actress or actor. It was best to come out of your trailer, full of life, and just face another person who's full of life and don't talk. Listen to Here's the Thing on the IHeart Radio app Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:59:51 Is there an epidemic against L. literature. More specifically, black literature. Our books are being banned, scanned by AI, and destroyed. I'm Jack Quees Peace Thomas, and on this season of the Blacklit podcast, we're outside asking some of the custodians of our stories, teachers, and our modern day writers why? They don't want a whole bunch of little Ella Baker's, Michael Maxes and Martin Luther King's running around. They want to build children who have no empathy. That's really the ultimate goal. We want books that don't make white kids feel bad. So is the war on literacy and information or our ability to connect?
Starting point is 01:00:29 We want people to know how sexy reading is and how fun they could be and not always associated with education. It could be an escape. It could be entertainment. And that is the beauty of reading. It can be all of those things. And considering this is Black Reading Month, the only real question is, what are you reading next?
Starting point is 01:00:49 Listen to Black Lit from the Black Effect Podcast Network on our eye heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, it's Bobby Bones. Join me in former NFL quarterback Matt Castle every Wednesday on our podcast, lots to say with me, Bobby Bones, and Matt Castle. We also bring in friends, they're mostly Matt's friends, who are current or former NFL players, some of the biggest names in music and entertainment,
Starting point is 01:01:15 and then we have some really great conversations that can pretty much go anywhere. The great, Pac-Man Jones. After the game, the whole national task force for police officers was at the stadium. Hey, buddy, yeah, you, Adam. Come up. And one of my favorite segments we do is called situational awareness,
Starting point is 01:01:31 where Bobby and I give each other real-life situations and figure out what we'd actually do. You're in training camp, and the rookie quarterback has one good throwing session in front of the media. Suddenly, everybody online says he should start over you, week one. How do you handle this? You just go back out to practice the next day, and wait for him to mess up.
Starting point is 01:01:50 Listen to lots to say with Bobby Bones and Matt Castle on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast. or wherever you get your podcasts. The WNBA playoffs are about to begin. The talent is insane and the personalities are giving main character energy. And of course, the fans love it. But 30 years ago, when the league first started, it was a different story. I remember sitting with a couple of male writers all whining about,
Starting point is 01:02:16 oh, what are they going to do if they break a nail? No one's going to show up. But from the very beginning, there were two teams that captured everyone's attention. The Comets were the real deal. I mean, come on. The Liberty never gave up. They never stopped fighting. I knew that rivalry was going to be amazing from the beginning. I'm Cary Champion, and this is biggest rivalries of all time, season two. The New York Liberty versus the Houston Comets, the very first rivalry of the WNBA.
Starting point is 01:02:45 They picked us to finish last, and they picked them to finish first. That's all you need to know. I remember looking around thinking, this is going to change things. basketball was going to have this fundamental impact on the way people viewed women athletes. Listen to biggest rivalries of all time on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Is there bad blood between you in the comments as you guys meet again in the championship? Oh, we're coming back to win. And we're back.
Starting point is 01:03:25 We're back. And we are back. And you're great? I'm great. All right. Sorry. I did just want to. I never check with people before we come back. Before we come back. Yeah. I'm totally fine.
Starting point is 01:03:33 You would have someone. No, I mean, I get up and there's just like a. Amniotic fluid. I've been sitting on a baby. Oh, my God, damn. Oh, shit. Oh, wow. I'm just dragging her out.
Starting point is 01:03:49 Great. All right. We'll get it. Well, we'll clean it up. It's just the baby's there. Or like, like, as you get up. Whoop. Seamless.
Starting point is 01:04:03 Maybe just sitting on the chair. Like being polite. Sorry, I didn't want to interrupt your recording. So polite. All right. We got to talk daily, why are you guys? Yeah, sure, sure. We were talking about this movie a while back because during production,
Starting point is 01:04:18 there was stuff happening. Like, it felt very much like a internet production type thing. Like, people were, they were doing the sorts of stunts that you would do in a Hollywood action movie, but they didn't have the people or the infrastructure in place, so people were, like, jumping through windows
Starting point is 01:04:35 and getting cut off because they, like, didn't know what the fuck they were doing. The entire crew walked off the set of the movie in the middle of the movie. They were so unsafe, right? Yeah, it was very unsafe. You guys, this is a joke production.
Starting point is 01:04:47 Yeah, yeah. But, so this is the latest cinema offering from the Daily Wire. I didn't realize they're not putting these out in theaters anymore. The original idea was like, we're going to put all these movies out in theaters and we're going to defeat Hollywood with our right-wing offerings because that's what everybody's always been waiting for. They're not going to show this in theaters? No, which is weird because their whole thesis was everyone's just waiting for this bullshit, woke Hollywood shit to stop.
Starting point is 01:05:18 Right. And for us to step in and start making the sorts of movies that they actually want to see. People want pure uncut Islamophobia. Yes. Yes. They want to be sniffing base. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:31 Yeah. Yeah. And so I think they did start out by putting them out in theaters. And like the box office returns were like $30. It wasn't like, it wasn't the ones where like they'll be like, and this movie made $2.3 million dollars. A historic failure. They're like, they sold 72 tickets. Like we could actually count the number of tickets.
Starting point is 01:05:51 And someone left a 20 in their seat. So I think that that counts to the. They're claiming that. They are claiming that. Ben Shapiro's like, that's mine also. Yeah. And the 72 tickets. What they don't want to tell you about is that people left 20 as a tip for us.
Starting point is 01:06:05 That's how good myself was. Also, thanks to the haters. Yeah. That's what he said. He posted a video that was titled, Thanks to the haters. Our movie is a hit. Which one? This shit.
Starting point is 01:06:16 This one. I don't know anything about, are they, like, written? Are they like documentaries? What are they? No, this is an action. Propaganda. a film. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:26 Okay. Should I read? Yeah, I want to know, like, some titles or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So the first one was called
Starting point is 01:06:32 Run, Hyde Fight, and it was like a school shooting movie where it was like, we're tired of these school shootings and our solution to
Starting point is 01:06:41 what, like, fight back against school shooters. Right, right. It's just like people, the children don't, aren't armed enough, I think is sort of the thesis
Starting point is 01:06:50 that they were going into that one. It's a nonsense. It's, again, nonsense. But it's, Here, let me just read part of, like, what the plot is. So this is the sequel. A Delta Force mission led by Captain Clay Saunders to capture ISIS leader Assad al-Madi in Somalia as a success, but his friend and colleague.
Starting point is 01:07:06 Anyway, so what happened, this is, this is way to it. Essentially what happens is ISIS takes over a college campus. Okay. And then basically, like, deems it a caliphate. And then Jonathan Majors is trying to get you to forget about any of his allegations by fighting them. Right. Yeah. actual Jonathan Majors.
Starting point is 01:07:26 This is where Jonathan Majors is in. This is Jonathan Majors. My God. Yeah. Yep, that, he has some pretty incredible lines that we'll get, too. I do kind of want to watch it.
Starting point is 01:07:36 It's, I mean, from what I've seen, like, as people have been posting clips on it, it is one of the most poorly acted, terribly thought out films. It's,
Starting point is 01:07:45 it's got acting, like, from a 70s porn, like, you know, like the sort of, John Waters, yeah,
Starting point is 01:07:53 yeah, where it's like the acting is supposed to be bad maybe or yeah like 70s horror movie that like didn't get released in theaters type acting the so they go it's like the argument that they like to make where people are like oh you protests on behalf of Palestinians they would kill you they would fucking kill you dude and then they just have like a series of snuff films uh like just poorly staged kills uh where they the terrorists kill somebody for having a gluten allergy yeah for being gay. Well, that seems wild because
Starting point is 01:08:26 it's like a blue-haired guy and like a purple-haired lady. Yeah, yeah. And like the guy's like, and he's like, what about you? And she's like, I like every like kind of, you're not afraid of the like sexually She was like, I like, I like everyone. And he's like, you and he's like, men. And then he just kicks
Starting point is 01:08:42 that guy off the roof. And he's like off the roof and the guy takes 45 seconds to fall to ground. Yeah. It's the wildest. Like jazz. It's a little overacted like string stunt you've ever seen. And it's like so slow we're like, this guy's on ropes.
Starting point is 01:09:02 It doesn't even look real. It looks like a guy goes, yes. He's like in the musical cats. Yeah. Falls at the speed of a feather. So these people are just losing hemorrhaging money. Yeah, that's been a thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:18 I mean, that's like, that's a huge. So they have a streaming platform. And anytime someone signs up for the streaming platform, They're like, I guess we won. Oh, wow. Right. Yeah. Looks like you guys.
Starting point is 01:09:27 Stupid enough to sign up, big time. Well, we won then. But yeah, should we play just that clip and also Jonathan Majors' speech where he talks about just the most white supremacist talking points? But it can't be white supremacists. It's Jonathan Majors. Right, right. What do you mean white supremacy? So we'll start off with the rooftop scene.
Starting point is 01:09:46 So many in your country cannot even be bothered to produce children, but this is a day that you will tell yours about. Because he's holding. holding onto her arm because they just witness their friends get murdered. And she's wearing a Kaffia. I like everyone in Bruce. I'm gay. Oh. No.
Starting point is 01:10:09 No. Yeah, they kicked him. Look how strict there. Okay. So, like, it's like a South Park thing. It's like, and I'm gay, boom. Off the roof. And you're like, yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:25 Oh, wow. Oh, cool. On to, like, soft bark. I know. Yeah, yeah, it's some compost. That's a compost pilot. That is the sort of fall that they, I'm assuming, like, in any other action movie, I'd be assuming, oh, that person doesn't actually die because he fell into sock. Yeah, no.
Starting point is 01:10:42 But yeah, yeah, yeah, no, that was just like they were trying to sell the fall, I guess. He didn't even break a bone. Like, he just has a sore back to her. Because also, like, Jonathan Majors' character at various points is, like, shot multiple times and appears to be bleeding out. and then like cut to he's not shot at all. Sure, man. One minute from the Guardian review,
Starting point is 01:11:02 one minute bleeding out and clinging to life. The next completely healed without hint of explanation. I love an English movie critic. I know. Without hint of explanation. It's, yeah, it's also like, I love.
Starting point is 01:11:15 I like, right after it said, it was hard not to be reminded of just how he wound up at professional rock bottom. Yeah. Got his ass. You fucker. Read him.
Starting point is 01:11:26 Yeah, I love the character's motivation. He's like, I would, this is the first time. I'm not talking about killing you. And they're like, well, you've misunderstood. I'm getting, like the. Right. Here, let me give you a reason to kill me. It's so, again, yeah, sure.
Starting point is 01:11:44 And I guess it's their clueless libs. I mean, this is their heavy-handed version of me, like, this is what some college campuses are going to get you. Right. Meanwhile, nobody's watching it, and he's further. taking daily wire into the financial abyss. Because like the viewers have, like, they're, they're tumbling. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:12:03 We'll see how much traction this gets. But right now, I've seen most of the movie in Twitter clips. Right. So, and that's all I need to see because people are putting the best parts up. Well, I'm glad Hollywood's making movies. Yeah, right? Surviving well. This was shot in South Carolina because you couldn't get away with it in Hollywood.
Starting point is 01:12:20 Yeah. You want to do what? There's also a part where a little white girl goes up to a black security garden is like, my father lost me. And he's like, well, I haven't met my father. Or I've been, I still am looking for my God. And people like,
Starting point is 01:12:34 huh, couldn't get away with saying that in Hollywood. You can't get away with saying that shit out loud. Right. What are you talking about? Was it AI written? Probably. Oh. It was like, had the touch.
Starting point is 01:12:47 They do say that it's hard to know. It's so bad. I mean, there's definitely some AI generating imagery. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They say, uh, they hardly. great as much as Rankin's liberal use of AI for newscasts and other screen filler. So it is a partially AI generated film. Yeah. I thought you can make a movie like that. Oh, interesting. He got he got into filmmaking because of HBO's Project Greenlight. Yeah. Didn't know that.
Starting point is 01:13:15 How did they, did they call it Ben and Matt to see if they make this thing? I'm shocked. Yeah. I'm shocked that they weren't interested. Speaking of people from Hollywood, not being interested. Donald Trump, so we talked when this happened, that Donald Trump came out and was like, I've got three big celebrities who are working with me
Starting point is 01:13:35 to be my special ambassadors to Hollywood. My number one guy. John Voigt. Oh, yeah. That's been, yeah. Oh! He's,
Starting point is 01:13:43 that guy's the king of Hollywood. Oh, yeah. I'm disputed. He was an anaconda. Mel Gibson. There's nothing wrong with that. He's cool. Wait,
Starting point is 01:13:54 you know, You know like Australians? Yeah. He's Australian? Yeah. He's Australian, but not born in Australia or some of his dad was Australian. And then he was like raised, I don't know. I will.
Starting point is 01:14:04 I forget he's a person. Right. Like he's an actual alive person. Not like a creature. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, like Bigfoot. He was born in Peekskill, New York.
Starting point is 01:14:11 Peak skill. Yeah. His dad is. Uh, and Celvesta Stallone. Yeah. Bobby. Got him on. Boppy.
Starting point is 01:14:18 Which was the, that one was the revel. Like, I knew that he had appeared with Trump, but I didn't know he was like, that much, like a part of, that he was like a part of Trump's plans, like working on a special committee. Whatever that even is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Turns out, you what, like, no, nobody had been informed about this ahead of time. No, but they all found out from the tweet from the rest of us. And he's like, I hear my decree, my special ambassadors to Hollywood. And John Voight has actually taken the gig seriously. Yeah. And is like trying to find like legislation to help incentive. Yeah, like somehow he's like, we need to incentivize like more like local production.
Starting point is 01:14:57 That's the funniest show. Yeah, yeah, that John Boyd, he's not like mainlining weird like 4chan memes that he's like, actually no, there's a way to finance this better. I'm not sure what Mel Gibson is doing. Mel Gibson did say that he was not aware of it until the tweet. Until the tweet. So this is what Sylvester Stallone had about. This was his experience finding out.
Starting point is 01:15:18 He said, quote, well, it just happened. I was watching TV one night. they go, so Stallone and Mel Gibson and John Voie will be, and I went, what? I said, excuse me. Really? And it says, though Stallone remains, quote, in awe of President Trump,
Starting point is 01:15:34 whom he likens to a, quote, mythical character. The Oscar winner concedes, he quote, If they asked me in the beginning, I would have said, this is not possible. That was it.
Starting point is 01:15:47 He goes, I got the tweet at the same time as all you. I was just surprised. That's what, that's what Mel Gibson said. So apparently Stallone was like he ultimately had to tell Trump no. Like he's like, oh, thanks, bro, but no, no fam to this one. He said, I think he said, I had to say no and chow. It's the way, but it, which probably feels like a way that Trump, like that is a way to get, like let Trump bob.
Starting point is 01:16:09 He's like, yeah, I'm sorry about that. You know, hey, good look to you. Chow. Yeah. And he's like, wow, he said chow to me. He said, chow to me. He's very European, very sophisticated. He only says that to his friends.
Starting point is 01:16:19 I'm him. I am he. Uh, yeah. Like, where's Mel Gibson? He said, nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can. Any chance the position comes with an ambassador's. Any chance the position comes with an ambassador's residence?
Starting point is 01:16:35 No. This is like this episode is pure psychopaths. Every single person we fucking talk to that. Yeah, it's wild. But he's still, he's friends with Trump. He's a Republican. He's like, he was at the White House, those pictures we saw. I mean, yeah, look at he's.
Starting point is 01:16:52 looks great. Guy looks good. Guys, what world, again, we're in a bad drug trip? Like, those three people are people. These are human beings that somehow they get to, they're enjoying all the fruits of success. They are. These are the people. Them?
Starting point is 01:17:12 Our best. They have soldiers. Everyone's face is permanently fixed in like one position. Oh, Sylvester. Is he holding a vape? What's he holding right here? I think that would be a giant pen. It's a giant pen.
Starting point is 01:17:25 It's a marker. It's a marker. Yeah. Wow, guys. Wow. Look at his, look at that. I mean, the HGH and stuff. I mean, he kind of really does a number on your head.
Starting point is 01:17:37 Like, look how much narrower his head is when he was younger before the HGH. But he was actually terrifying back then, too. Yeah. He's a weird unholy color of, yeah. I just watched Rocky for the first time because someone said, like, it's my favorite movie. You have to watch it. I got through seven minutes and I was like, I'm sorry. Seven minutes.
