Anyways, some things that are trending, some horrifying shit in New York this morning. There's a shooting in Brooklyn in Sunset Park on the subway. Brooklyn and Sunset Park on the subway. The NYPD really dropping the fuck out of the ball on this one. My God. I mean, Alec Karakatsanis

who's been on the show, he just did a whole thread on Twitter. He's like, check out the copaganda on the New York Times already as a result of this and i think yeah this is this is based on like the all the write-ups and twitter and shit you can tell that this is just sparked a whole other conversation of y'all have an basically an 11 billion dollar budget which would be considered in the top 10 of, if it was a military, the top 10 most well-funded militaries on the planet, and what's happening with crime. I think the broader question is,

how do you spend the eighth largest army's worth of money in a year and you have crime just in general does not go down. In fact, fact it goes up and then the solution that seems to be constantly paraded out which is oh well we just need more cops um people are already saying that at any given time there could be 3 500 nypd uh officers in the subways like that's just part of their the division of manpower and we're i don't know i mean like that's why this is such a like it just intersects with so many issues we're having whether it's guns or fucking you know the police budgets or even eric adams who i'm sure would have loved to have been there but i think he recently had covid so he can't go out in public yet um yeah yeah and police are still searching for the suspect. Yeah. And local schools have activated a shelter-in-place order.

So just a real nightmare that spending a large nation's military budget on police is not assuaging. Yeah. assuaging yeah i don't yeah also it seems it seems like one of those things that should shouldn't be easy to escape a mass shooting to perpetuate in you know when you talk about it like new york they brag a lot they're like our cctv camera now works only second to fucking london and you're like holy shit okay so that shit's locked down on video um and i'm sure you know whatever they'll find them but again like this is why i think uh karakatsanis was you know pointing this out that i think if people had the airtime or the platform to say this incident right now needs to actually begin a larger discussion of what it what public safety is and how we achieve that. Because throwing all this money at it does not seem to be working at all.

So, you know, we shall see. Ah, and Trisha, Super Producer Trisha, saying that some of the security cameras in the subway station were down. Huh. Ah. What are they spending that money on? I don't know, dude. Sick-ass windbreakers that say NYPD on it.

Yeah. Stranger Things is trending because a new trailer is out for season four. Everybody's too old to make sense anymore. Although they're doing good. Like, I didn't look at the trailer and be like, yo, what are all these middle-aged... It's not like Dawson's Creek, where it's like...

That person has a five o'clock shadow. Right, right. Exactly. Like, damn, Finn Wolfhard looks like he's kicking heroin between his hands. What the fuck happened to him? Looking all gaunt and shit. I've only seen the first season.

Did you like it? Yeah, I liked it. I thought it was like a fun homage. I did not feel like there was enough there that was like, oh, I want to see what they do with the rest of this because it just felt like it was like, oh yeah, I've seen E.T. Like E.T. is dope.

And y'all have seen E.T. and you played in that sandbox. Right. E.T. is just this shaved-headed australian little girl now i see that's what it is now but yeah that's and you know i watched i've watched all the seasons and they each season kind of has its own tone to it and i like you know the last one was all like you know mall centric and like them and their burgeoning romantic relationships and shit like that and whatever it was cool i was like

not my favorite of the three this trailer i'm i'm not i don't want to say i'm not giving a fuck about it but i didn't get really hooked like i i i was saying more snarky shit to myself watching it than when i was being like, oh, shit, that was cool. Oh, okay. Yeah. And you were fucking cracking up when you were saying that shit to yourself. It was kind of wild to see. You were just sitting there watching, saying a snarky thing, and then just rolling. I'm like, this dude playing a guitar in the Upside Down.

For what? For what? I really need to know. for what i really need to know so the aesthetic of the first one would be like spielberg suburban like uh wilderness type shit what what was uh three was like sort of 80s mall culture what was number what was two um how would i sum up the second season it was like a summary right wasn't that like a thing yeah yeah yeah it's like it's more just like seeing them now grow up a little bit more that was like because they were you know we went from kids season one to two they're like yeah look at these little you know these like more like a teen movie yeah three you're like okay then some teenagers four were

like freshmen in high school um but all that to say is like i'm just it seems like they're doing a lot is happening in this trailer and that's what kind of worries me but not to say that it has to be so minimal or whatever but there are like so many tropes that like i was visually seeing in this thing i'm like wow y'all are okay maybe every episode it's like a weird little movie. Yeah, I got 80s metal video vibes from this one. I mean, there was a fucking guy doing

a tap solo on an electric guitar. Doing the Slash from November Rain solo, but in the upside down. Yeah. There's some White Walker looking dude like night

king figure so whatever cool um i think it'll what'll probably inevitably happen is it comes out i wait to see what everybody on the internet says and then like four weeks later i'll be like super bored and i'll be like fuck it let me Let me just throw this on. Yeah. Speaking of waiting to see what everyone on the internet says, uh, everything, everywhere, all at once, still haven't seen it,

but I'm, I'm going to try and see that shit in the next week. But like, that is, I, that's the most like effusively praised, uh, like movie that's,

that's hit in a while. Northman, the, I don't know anyone who's seen it yet, but some critics have seen it and that's getting a lot of praise. Pachinko is a new Apple TV series based on a novel my wife just read about Korean history and culture,

and that's supposed to be very good. And specifically Korean discrimination in Japan. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And then Severance, everyone says Severance is really good. to be very good and specifically like korean discrimination in japan yeah yeah yeah yeah um and then severance everyone says severance is really good like suddenly apple tv supposed to be really good became like the new fucking hbo max or some shit out of nowhere i think they just probably had to figure out their development like schedule or whatever here but um i'm like fuck man i heard from people who were working on a show early for them that they were very that apple was like real hard to work with yeah yeah exactly no

uh they're every person i think and those like that first set of shows that they had announced like constant butting of heads because you had a con uh basically a product manufacturer getting into content and like the reconciliation process of you know um notes i think was probably a bit of a headache but yeah look at them now look at them now look at them love to see apple winning you know what i mean finally you know they needed a they needed a dub they needed something since that ipod yeah um and also you know gilbert godfrey is trending because he passed uh too young age of 67 after a long-term illness um but you know comedy legend voice acting legend yeah the only celebrity when i lived in missouri for three years the only celebrity I saw while I lived there

so he was out here you know touring getting his paper but yeah supposedly just a super nice guy so shout out to his family

that's trying to they're emphasizing the real okay i want you to be real it's not some cypress hill offshoot uh app this is just about you know being your authentic self because the makers of it are like everything's so sanitized and when you're posting like when you're ready it's just you're you're showing very much a like not a spontaneous version of yourself and so the way the app works is basically like you can only uh post when the app uh prompts you to say okay you got two minutes to post whatever you're doing right now like take your like let us know what you're doing right now like post that yeah yeah okay just to kind of give people more of an idea it's like yeah man i'm fucking not in

barbados you know like uh riding a turtle through the fucking crystal clear water like yeah i'm at fucking work yes i'm sitting at my desk working i'm playing with my pets or whatever and like you know that's their hope i think the knock the effect of it is like they're not the most stimulating or uh visually stunning pictures but i like that there's like the pressures there's not really pressure to be like oh how many likes you're gonna get more than me like hey where you at right now what you doing right right but yeah um enough people will use it yeah i mean that's like a cool sociological experiment yeah um that's why i don't i don't see i don't see that this thing

blowing up but i just like that there's a like hopefully like i'm sure there's a movement of people who are trying to be like how can we get people to like interact with each other but like take out the like ego emphasis of it all and just get people to sort of see each other in a more normal way and not cause people anxiety from looking at someone's manicured life. Yeah. So like as a consumer, I'm not sure I want to necessarily see that. I do want to see the overall results and be like, damn, Americans do work way too much. This is a great data gathering idea. But like nobody's gonna want to look at that right

well not with the yeah i mean i think because again the reason why i think i mean not the reason why i think it's clear why social media is is so popular is that because it feeds into like this like hey look at me shit and also connects you with people and like it has all that there but with something so visual and people being i probably concerned about what they look like or how they're presenting themselves on social media that that might not appeal to them um but you know again it's a uh it's a worthwhile endeavor to try and just be like hey man you just fuck it man you got work all day that's fucked yeah that sucks um hey man you always uh

but if uh you are not familiar with that and uh are coming in uh with the expectations that this is going to be a good movie um you'll probably be underwhelmed is the is the kind of impression i've gotten from the three reviews oh god i mean you know it's those those church films aren't great uh buddy of mine work i remember edited a church movie that jaw rule was in with adrian byline remember going to like the low like the premiere of that shit this was this shit was not a great movie. And so I get that the bar is a little bit different. But I feel like Catholic priests are just such compelling, interesting, relatable, sympathetic characters.

People aren't just lining up to see this, huh? They're like, what if there was one who was not a creep? I think is is the pro right premise of this is like you think like mark warbler's like we need a movie where the priests look cool man exactly like the big hit but with priests it's wild that you said ja rule because i had been singing i'm real in my head since we talked about be real and now now here we are back at Ja Rule.
