Starting point is 00:00:05 I got to find a way to get my hands on this full Ben Shapiro script. So many people are, so many outlets are claiming they have their hands on the full script. I'm like, come on, internet. Leak this fucking thing. Yeah, I want to read that bad. Let people do a fundraiser table read or something with this nonsense. That would be so cool. I'm in.
Starting point is 00:00:28 I'm in for that. Come on hackers. I'm going to call in all hackers. Get me that script. Anonymous. We haven't reached out to you for a long time. We've been respecting your anonymity. But come on.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Terry? I need that script. I hate using your name Terry. But Terry, make with the fucking script guy. Let's go. Man, he really, he does work hard. You got to give him. Anonymous or Ben Shapiro?
Starting point is 00:00:55 Shapiro, it's like, how do you have the time to do that? He's got a motor. He's got a motor. I wish he didn't. It's always the case. It's always the case. Well, see, Jack, you've experienced some success with your creative endeavors unlike him. So, you know, you're coming from a different place than just the fires of regret that are powering Ben Shapiro.

Starting point is 00:05:02 Hello, the internet, and welcome to season 458, episode 5 of DIR Daily Zitegay! Yeah! This is a production of iHeart radio. It's a podcast where we take a deep dive into America's shared consciousness through the day's news. We also have a new non-news history version of the daily zeitgeist dropping each Monday morning called the iconograph, where we do a deep dive into the zeitgeist through the lens of a different icon. On Monday we dropped Selena.
Starting point is 00:05:26 Before that, we dropped Oprah. Oprah! You get an episode. You get an episode. Yeah, you can all get it. We don't run out. We don't fake run out of episodes. Do you guys use the Libby app?
Starting point is 00:05:42 The what? Libby is like the... The fruit companies app? The public library app. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, no. And they do false scarcity of their audiobooks where they're like, sorry, we're out of this audiobook.
Starting point is 00:05:56 You've got to wait for the other person to return the audio book. I'm like, come on, maybe. They do that with e-books, though, right? I guess they got to, yeah. It's a rights issue. It's insane. I know. But we should start doing that with this.
Starting point is 00:06:07 podcast, just 10 episodes that it, 10 episodes can be listened to at a time. That'd be awesome. The hack that people do, though, is, like, they throw their, like, you know, e-reader on airplane mode, so it never actually connects to the internet. And then the, like, the book just stays there. And then you can read it as long as you want without having to renew. And it doesn't affect, like, the next person borrowing it, because once that window hits, it becomes available for the next person.
Starting point is 00:06:34 So it never tells you it's expired. Yeah. So I'm told. I think you've got to keep your phone on airplane mode the whole time just to read the book. I don't know. Interesting. I don't know. Doesn't sound foolproof to me.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Anyways, those episodes drop on Monday with I got to the title. Right now, right here, it's Friday, October 2nd, 2026. Yep. It's International Day of Nonviolence. You hear that, President Trump? Try that for a second. You know, maybe stop warring around. It's World Smile Day.
Starting point is 00:07:05 It's Kids Music Day. national name your car day i never did that uh and shout out all the custodians it's national custodian day that music yeah yeah shout out to the custodians i i'm going to give a reserved shout out to kids music if it's music by children specifically for like the people they know i i will not give a shout out to kid music for children because kids bob is uh personal hell wow i you got to stop you got to stop doing the kids bob man i'm telling you should listen to the original albums sometimes but the original albums are way better dude i don't know why the original kids bob albums no like the songs are based on you always listen to the kids bob versions for some reason and base
Starting point is 00:07:48 your opinion on that yeah listen to the real kendrick lamar songs no kids bobs actually better love the kids bob not like us uh my name is jack o'brien aka potatoes o'briand uh my name is jack o'briand uh-huh shout out to the member of the discord who just took uh another picture of potatoes o'briand and A frozen bag of potatoes O'Brien in the grocery store. Mm-hmm. Thrill to be joined, as always, by my co-host, Mr. Miles Gray. Oh, hey, it's Miles Gray, aka. Fielder conjures distortion reality.
Starting point is 00:08:23 He always seems to be running us a sorted scam. His kink is twisting all of our psychology. Oh, if fielders around, airplanes, Stay off the ground. Whoa! Okay, shout out to Snarkila for that one. I was just getting real, real. I was in reminiscing mode over the Jemiriquai VMA performance that happened in the late 90s and saying that's when they peaked.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Thank you to Snarfila for that one. That's when we peaked, man. The Jemiriqui VMA performance. Just as a, you and I personally? Or are we as a collective? As a species. I feel like Nathan Fielder. I could really see him rocking a Jamirah.
Starting point is 00:09:05 why I had at some point, you know, just try to get in the mindset of mystery. There's probably a picture already. Yeah. Miles. Yes. We're thrilled to be joined in our third seat by a very funny actor, comedian, podcast host, Streamer, one of our very favorite guests. You know him from so many things, son of Zorn, Superstore, 21 and 22 jumps street.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Twitch, you can catch him on stand-up stages near you, check his website, a bunch of comedy live dates coming up. You can find out about all of them on Johnny Pemberton.org, which is a good name for his website because he is the brilliant, the town to Johnny Pemberton. Pembign, yama. Who that the Pimbin? I did not.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Who that Pemberton in? Zoom did. It did. Oh. Hell yeah. There it is, man. That was really good. That was really good.
Starting point is 00:10:04 Zoom. Zoom. That's better. Anyone calling you Victor Pembignama yet? Oh my God. No, I wish. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got to start.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Because I think we're referred to you as Pembi and then we're like, dude, Pembinaama, bro. Pembingia. I like Pembina. Pembina. It's a Pembina. Pembina. It's the circle of John. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Guys, check out Johnny Pemberton. Dot, dog, so you can see that live. That's what I do. It's an hour of that. It's an hour of Lion King covers. Just chanting. They're like, you're like, are you going to tell jokes?
Starting point is 00:10:39 No, he does scar and then he does pool. La the next night. Then I do two. Yeah, people come to all the shows. Yeah, yeah. Every character in the Lion King, every show from a different perspective. I was at the Timoan show.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Oh, you're at the Timon show. Timon is my favorite. Can I say that? Timon's my favorite. Yeah. Hell yeah. Nina Timo. We'll allow it.
Starting point is 00:10:59 We'll allow it. Nina Timon. It sounds like a guy from New Zealand. Oh, Oh, I love Nina Tremorne. Nina Tremont. Nina Tremont. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I absolutely. Pumba and Tremorne. Piumba. I feel like for that live show, you would have to come up from the back of the audience, right? And come forward. Oh, yeah. That's my style. Where is he?
Starting point is 00:11:24 Where is he? He's amongst us. Walking down the road. Lately touching the backs of the ears of the people in the crowd as you walk. Oh. Pamingia. Johnny, we're thrilled to have you here. Happy to be.
Starting point is 00:11:38 All the way from Toronto. Toronto, Canada. Yeah. Doing some shows here. They're going to let you stay or they're going to kick you out? I don't know. You know, it remains to be seen. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:50 We'll find out. Yeah, yeah. Let us know. Let us know. I mean, I wouldn't mind staying here for a while, but also nice to go home. Yeah. Sure. There's that too.
Starting point is 00:12:00 Yeah. Miles and I were in Toronto. We were saying before we started recording last TDZ live show. Yeah. Toronto. So a live show so off the chain it started COVID. Yeah. Sorry about that.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Yeah. And we are sorry for that. But we're thrilled to have you here. We're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment. First, we're going to tell the listeners a couple of the things that we're talking about. New Shapiro just dropped. Oh. A new movie script leaked from Ben Shapiro.
Starting point is 00:12:31 We just got eyes. from his daily wire outfit. Yeah. Run Hyde Fight. Mm-hmm. Infidels. Yeah, we just got, uh, R-H-F-I. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:12:41 All right. So yeah, yeah. R-H-F-Intyles as we're all called. It should be just called run-hide fight. That's a good name. But run-hide-five infidels. That's the first one. This is the sequel, Johnny.
Starting point is 00:12:50 The first one. Are you serious? Yeah, yeah. The first one was a, was a movie that was independently produced about a girl during a school shooting who, like, has to, you know, fight back. Wait a minute. You tell me this
Starting point is 00:13:03 is independently produced? Yeah, the first one was independent. It was not a studio film. And the Daily Wire was like, this kind of fits with our whole shit. And so they went and put their name on that one. It didn't do very well.
Starting point is 00:13:19 And then they were like, this is a franchise actually and made Run Hype Fight Infidels. And we got to see what it looks like when they write a movie from scratch. And now we're getting to see what the follow up to that looks like. It is truly amazing.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Like for people who are like, we're all about free enterprise that they exist in this world where they don't have to make any money. They just have billionaires just donating money to them nonstop all the time. And they're like, yeah, you guys want socialism. That's bad. It's like you live in a bubble of just like state funding where the state is billionaires. But anyways, they've got a new project coming, apparently. It's being shot right now. And so we're going to give you some little snippets.
Starting point is 00:14:04 It's about ice. And apparently the way they got the community to agree to it was by being like, it's a movie about ice. And everyone was like, well, clearly, it's an anti-ice movie. Yeah. And people seem surprised to find out what the... Did you guys see the first one? I see clips.
Starting point is 00:14:25 We saw the clips that everybody else. Have you seen any of the clips? I think I have, but it's sort of like, I'm now kind of slowly re-remembering that was a thing. It was a little while ago, right? Yeah, it's probably like four weeks, right? Oh, the first one came out? Infidels or the first run-hide fight was 2020, I think.
Starting point is 00:14:42 Okay. Yeah, that was a while ago. Yeah, yeah. And then Infidels just came out. Like Treat Williams was in it. Oh, really? Yeah, and like that guy, Ollie Sholitan who played Carlton and the new Bel Air, like he was in the Fresh Prince reboot.
Starting point is 00:14:57 There's people who in there were like, why are you in this? Wait, what? Yeah. I think it was one of those things too where they're like, I guess the Daily Wire will distribute it. And then people were like, wait, what the fuck? I thought I was in a regular propaganda movie. Is it on YouTube now or something?
Starting point is 00:15:10 Or is it just nowhere? It's on Daily Wire Plus. Oh my God. So it doesn't exist. Basically it doesn't exist. How dare you? How dare you? As a long time subscriber, it's right there for anyone to see.
Starting point is 00:15:23 It's right at your fingertips for anybody who wants to get it. Wow, that's hilarious. One at a time. They are using Libby rules. You can watch it one at a time. All right. We're going to talk about that. We're going to talk about, so obsession, the movie that took the box office by storm over the summer is being submitted in the musical or comedy category of the Golden Globes, which some people are confused by that. I think it's good that it's being submitted there. I think or I think it's instructive and that it means that we should create awards for horror movies and, like, let's. Like movies that are genre movies, they should have like a category.
Starting point is 00:16:04 So we have a place to honor these movies instead of them having to be like, there's actually parts that when you go and see it, like people laugh nervously. So we'll talk about that. We'll talk about the America's New Propaganda Theme Park, which is not happening because it is a massive scam. And just generally like, if you're in the market for pulling off a mass. massive scam and just like creating a slush fund. I got to tell you, failed theme parks is the way to go. Really?
Starting point is 00:16:39 Yeah. Oh, yeah. Like, there's a, you know, we've been doing these icon episodes and every icon has a failed theme park. Like there's a Garfield one in Indiana that people invested like tens of millions of dollars in. God. I don't think ever broke ground. There's a Dracula one, always in development in Romania, that has not.
Starting point is 00:17:00 ever broken ground. I think I just revealed what our next icon is. But there's, yeah, there's a bunch of them. Oh, I want to. I mean, I also did say, this next icon wants to suck your blood. So that people might have figured out who the icon was in the way. Peter Thiel? Then we'll talk about a new tombstone pizza that is going to have candy corn on it.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Probably the most upsetting story of the day. All of that, plenty more. But first, Johnny, we do. like to ask our guest, what is something from your search history that's revealing about who you are? Okay, this was a tough one because I feel like I don't search for anything but the most, like, boring things ever. Yeah. Yeah, I look so much.
Starting point is 00:17:46 I was trying to find out if a city council person in my neighborhood is, is Republican or not? It's like, that's all I'm trying to do is find out of someone like who I see yard signs of what their party affiliation is, but you're so hard to find now because they want you to not know because technically it's not a political position, right? Like the council people aren't supposed to be considered that. Right. This political office I'm running to hold does not entitle you to know what my politics are.
Starting point is 00:18:16 It's funny. Yeah. Otherwise, God, I honestly forgot about this one. I think mostly I've been looking at stuff about Florida because I was in Florida for about a week, and all these little small towns trying to find what the, you know, this is what I've been looking up the most, actually. This is actually interesting is a recipe to make a milk-washed tequila punch. Milk-washed tequila punch.
Starting point is 00:18:42 So do you know about, is it a clarified? Clarified milk punch? Yeah, it's clarified. But you take the cocktail and you run it through, you don't run it through, you mix it with a bunch of whole milk. And it coagulates in curdles, and the curdles grab all the impurities of everything. And if you run through like three or four times, you have like this clear or almost clear beverage that is like, oh, it's good. It's like velvet. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:07 So I've been Googling like crazy. Like, you know, the proportions and everything. So I'm trying to make one from my friend's birthday this weekend. So has that is that a thing you've tried margarita milk up like cocktail before? Because I've had a clarified milk punch cocktails and I'm like, I love for the same reason. There's like that fat. There's like a little bit of decadence from the milk. That's like, that's nice on a cocktail.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Wait, do you cool the curdled shit out? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, what happens is, is you filter it. So when you mix the alcohol and all the juices with the milk, it curdles it, but you run it through like a teetowel, like a mesh strainer. Sure. And it drips out real slowly. But after you run it through about three or four times, it's perfectly clear because all the,
Starting point is 00:19:50 all the impurities and stuff get attached on to the milk proteins. It's some, you know what it is? It's a science. scientific thing, the chemical process that I don't fully understand. A little science experiment for yourself. Milkwash is also just like a fun combination of words. It is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:09 Also sounds kind of gross to a lot of people if you say like a milk washed rum punch. Yeah. I wash my clothes. The other term is like fat washing cocktail. Fat wash. And that's also another version. I don't like that at all. Yeah, it sounds gross.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Yeah, let's go back to milk wash. Milk wash. That thing needs a milk wash if I've ever seen it. You can do it with like baking. grease and stuff, which, you know, I'm not doing that. That was like the original... That was like the original big fat washing trend. It was like, dude, you got fat-washed bourbon, dude?
Starting point is 00:20:38 Oh, yeah, bacon, fat-washed bourbon. Now I got my two favorite things. Bicken and bourbon. Maple bourbon, honey-brown glazed. Bourbon-bubon bacon ball. Also, yeah. Yeah. Bourbon whiskey glazed bacon, honey-glazed.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Maple. Yeah, we're bourbon washed this bacon and then bacon washed this bourbon. Oh, you're going to love this. This is, I just, I McGrittle washed this gin. It's fucking delicious. This is McGrittle-watched gin. Oh, the worst of both worlds. Yeah, that sounds, that sounds incredible, though.
Starting point is 00:21:18 I can't wait to try. I'm going to try it out on Saturday. Yeah, I'm very curious how that goes, yeah. You know who also is curious? Me. Yeah. Are you going to blame someone if it goes south? You're like, I don't know what happened.
Starting point is 00:21:31 This guy's ice is all messed up. I'm probably blame you guys. Yeah, that's fine. We're not there. You know what I think I like about milk? There's a part in Charlotte's Webb where they give the pig a buttermilk bath. And there's something that's always appealed to me about that to just be like, how is that, how does that, how's that a thing that would like work. I guess it would like make your skin all soft.
Starting point is 00:21:52 You mean marinated? Yeah, exactly. But it's how they clean them off. Oh, yeah, sorry. We're just cleaning you off. I'd say it's a pepper salt scrub. It's a scrub. Yeah, you're going to love that.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Yeah, yeah. A little bit of mint. It's bourbon wash this fucker, too, huh? What's a soup wash? Let's soup wash this chicken. Soup washed. What's something you think is underrated? Underrated.
Starting point is 00:22:20 What I write down here? Underrated, this is a kind of revelation for me is a slow down song. Oh, sure. I was doing this for years, like back when I was in college, it would slow down and buy the 33 and slow it down, or I'd take buy a 45 and slow it down to 33. Yeah, sure. I would play that on the radio.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Sometimes I get yelled at, but, man, it makes a song sound so good. Now all the Gen Z kids are doing this with, like, every song. Yeah. If you have a favorite song, chances are someone has slowed it down perfectly and added reverb to it. Right. The best one is like Billy Idol, eyes without a face. Oh.
Starting point is 00:22:56 That one is fucking hot. Man, that one's like, it just sounds so good, slow. Yeah. The OG is for me, the Jolene. Jolene is the, okay. Have you heard that one? The starter drum. I haven't heard that one of this.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Yeah. It's, it's, it's, it, the drum move is so much funkier, like, slowed down. But yeah, it's funny because there's so many singles now, you'll see like the regular single and then parenthetical slowed plus regroup. Are you serious? That's, man. Yeah. I can't really thought popular this is now. I feel like so ahead of the time because I used to slow down.
Starting point is 00:23:26 I had a whole mix I made probably in 2005. Wow. Before any of these fuckers were born. It was called Wrongful 33. Wow. And the best one I think I remember the most is a green eye lady. That one's a really good slowdown. It's that old Sykes song.
Starting point is 00:23:47 I think it's by Bubble Puppy or something like that. I can't remember who it's by. Wow. Yeah. And you almost did it before DJ Screw from Houston. Oh, yeah. Well, screw with, he was, that was a little different. But also, he's got a whole bunch of stuff going on that I did not have.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Yeah. That's a whole other thing. It is an interesting because the boomers were crazy about sped up songs with the chipmunks. Yeah. You know? Chipmunks. They couldn't get enough of that shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:17 Or like it sounds like their chipmunks swing played at this beat. Isn't that neat? Yeah. And now we've come full circle. Now we're. Now we're slowing down again. Slod plus reverb. I've always wondered,
Starting point is 00:24:29 because I've never done lean, but like they say that like, lean is very like influenced by the chopped and screwed thing. And I've always wondered like, when you're on lean, like do things sound like that? Does it like, or does it just like sound cool?
Starting point is 00:24:43 Wasn't it because screw dropped his turntables and they would mess up and slow down sometimes by accident? So he just leaned into it. Oh, I just said lean. I didn't even miss that. It was accidental.
Starting point is 00:24:56 I mean, Once at Disneyland, it was a very bad experience. Yeah. It was the worst. Well, because Mickey Mouse's voice just sounded like a normal voice to you. What's so, Johnny? Welcome to Disneyland, oh, man. What's up, bro?
Starting point is 00:25:09 Ha, ha, ha, ha. What the fuck? Pirates of the cribbing is closed. What is something you think is overrated? Walking fast as you're leaving the airport. Mm. I'm sick of that shit. Because you know, people are.
Starting point is 00:25:26 of this shit. I really am. There's people when you're leaving the airport. I travel so much now. Like, I get
Starting point is 00:25:33 if you're late to your flight, that's one thing. But as you're leaving, it's like, just fucking stop lapping me. Where are you going? Because people who are like
Starting point is 00:25:42 doing that thing I got the four wheel suitcase, the business casual look, and they're just walking as fast as they possibly can. Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 00:25:51 So just chill out, man. Just like fucking chill. The worst are like when people are just trying to get off the plan. flame faster than anyone with no regard for like, look, you're three rows behind me.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Stop trying to elbow your way up to me right now. Like, I'm getting a fucking bag down. I got a kid. We're all getting off this same thing at the same time. Relax. You got to, if you get in a hurry, you know what's awesome? Is running. Running is the best.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Yeah, when you look at the backpack and stuff, and you're fucking running, like, trucking to the airport, that's respect. I respect that. I'm like, okay, get out of the way. But you're just like doing that passive aggressive, very fast. walk. Right, right, right. Just cruising through the terminal. We're on the movie walk
Starting point is 00:26:31 and you're walking on the walk side and someone like burns up behind you walking faster than you're walking. That's me. That's me. I'm sorry, Johnny. But if someone's, if someone's blocking, then I stop.
Starting point is 00:26:44 I'm not blocking. I'm walking. Oh, yeah. If someone's walking, then I walk at pace. But if people are standing on the side and they're like not blocking, I scoot on by. I'm never trying to make it a thing with whoever's, slower than me, though. I don't even do movie walks
Starting point is 00:26:58 anymore. I'm done with it. I'm fully done. No more escalators, upstairs only. Good. That's where the margins are at, man. Yeah. That's how you're going to look to 99. We were just talking about. We were in the office together. That's the margins are right there. We were in the office together. We were about saying we never,
Starting point is 00:27:13 we never take the elevator. Of always taking the stairs. And now we will enter the office with somebody who's taking the elevator and then take the stairs. It's awkward. Even though it's awkward, I just, I have it in me that I'm like, Got to take the stairs always. Yeah. And the stairway is also, we go in the stairway, it's always cool acoustics.
Starting point is 00:27:32 There's nobody in there. Yeah, it's like, but it's like behind the scenes of the building. You know, it's like nobody was supposed to see this. If you want to scream, you can go ahead and scream in there, no problem. You can not in an airport, but yeah. Yeah, because, but that, you should not have a private stairwell in airport. But from the hotel, I'm going to belt one out. I'm a fucking scream.
Starting point is 00:27:54 They thought Janet and Michael were in there. practicing. Yeah. Scream video reference. Yeah, yeah. No, I got it. Directed by Mark Romantic. Ah.
Starting point is 00:28:04 Those were not convincing screams to me. Because it was, ah! Yeah, yeah. Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, screams on the screen video. I would have thought, you know, they gambled the whole song
Starting point is 00:28:16 on the screen. No, didn't do it. Anyways. Shout out to Michael Jackson. Let's, uh, I don't know if you guys saw the biopic, but it turns out he was a, He was a really good guy.
Starting point is 00:28:27 I mean, fucking really good guy. Yeah. They did a really good job at making him. It really just. I mean, I got honestly did. I feel like, I feel like, man. That was, uh, you really just took out all the bad stuff.
Starting point is 00:28:41 That's the sequel. All right. Let's take a quick break. And we'll be right back. The music you love. I heart radio. Your favorite radio stations. Everywhere you go.

Starting point is 00:29:22 Lisa, we should tell them about our new show. Oh my God, Lexi. We have a new podcast. It's called Don't Lie to Me. I'm Lexi. You want to. We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart. And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references, occasionally different opinions, and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all. I'm not going to get anywhere fighting. That is wild.
Starting point is 00:29:48 I learned that about you today. Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business, and I've always got something to say. If men were just honest about this, there would be so much more peace in the world. We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser. We're best friends, but we don't always agree. Because you told us how accommodating you are. Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.
Starting point is 00:30:21 Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Liar. Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I don't really care. If anyone wanted to commit a murder, up here would be the greatest place in the world to hide the body. But no one will find it. He acted friendly. He talked friendly.
Starting point is 00:30:46 He sounded friendly. They all knew that I did the scary boogie stuff, and I said, maybe she'll find out where this girl is. I saw him violent. Backhanded a bow! And that's exactly what made us all think. He had something to do with it. The clock is ticking down and the woods are calling.
Starting point is 00:31:11 There are a lot of demons in Putnam County, but I've met the devil, and he's real. I'm Paul Solitaroff, and this is season two of the devil's quarry. Listen to The Devil's Quarry Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. and to hear the Devil's Quarry Season 2 add free with exclusive content, subscribe to Lava for Good Plus on Apple Podcasts. I'm Britt Coleman. And I'm Trevor Sikima. Have you ever watched a game and wondered what really made the difference beyond the final score?
Starting point is 00:31:54 That's exactly why we created NFL Pro. Got a man wide open. Cahawks! Every week we use exclusive next-gen stats insights and NFL content to break down the biggest stories, matchups, moments from around the league. We go beyond the box score to uncover the numbers, the tendencies, and details that help explain what actually happened on the field. Fires it out in the flat to Barclay who beats one man, spins past another, leaps over at third. And don't worry, this isn't
Starting point is 00:32:26 just a show for stats experts. We use advanced analytics to help tell the story behind the game, turning the numbers into insights that every fan can understand and enjoy. So whether you're a casual fan learning more about football or a hardcore fan who can't get enough analysis, our goal is to help you see the game in a whole new way. If you've ever wanted to know why a playwork, how a matchup was won, or what most fans missed on Sunday, NFL Pro delivers insights you simply can't get anywhere else. Listen to NFL Pro on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. You broke me. You do not deserve happiness. I'm Andre Gunning. On this season of betrayal, we meet Carl Bryant.
Starting point is 00:33:13 Carl thought he was living a normal, drama-free life until the messages started. You will have hell to pay. For nine months, someone infiltrated every aspect of Carl's life, threatening to ruin him. Cyberstalking, swatting, extortion, impersonation. And then the text threats escalated. Someone's not going to make it out of this a lot. It's playing out in real life, not just on the phone. Every piece of evidence pointed to one man.
Starting point is 00:33:50 But every piece of evidence was a lie. He was not going to stop unless we stopped him. Listen to Betrayal Season 6 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. We're back. So I don't usually like. Like, when I have like a favorite filmmaker, I'm usually thinking of the director, you know? I rarely am like, this is an auteur who I will follow anywhere.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Kevin Feigey, maybe. Yes, of course, you know, Marvel, cinematic universe. But generally, it's not just whoever is behind the movie until now. Yeah. Ben Shapiro has taken Hollywood by storm. and the libs and holly weird are getting worried yeah oh yeah is what i'm hearing yeah they're very worried you can't stop them just because his movie has like barely 20% on rotten tomatoes he just knows that means 80% of the country doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about right okay um and
Starting point is 00:35:02 look so now we have found out that the follow-up to run hide fight infidels it has begun Production has begun, and it's a pro-ice film being shot in Montana, and locals have confirmed, as well as journalists who are asking around that this is a Daily Wire Ben Shapiro joint with the working title pawn shop. And it's about a pawn shop that's underseeds from Antifa because they kidnapped one of their neighbors or weight an MS-13 leader. Oh, got your ass, Antifa. Who are you fucking trying to protect, man? Because these people are bad. The best thing, though, is that a few outlets have got their hands on the shooting script. And the bulwark so far has given us the most detail into what the fuck is even going on in this film.
Starting point is 00:35:56 Just allow me to just read their description of this film. As quote, as Bond Shop opens, two ICE agents in Minneapolis arrest the Latino man later revealed to be an MS-13 boss. dim-witted liberal activists film and scuffle with the agents as they try to take their suspect away. Then also, this is where it gets fucking really disgusting. He says, then the film's Renee
Starting point is 00:36:19 Good stand-in enters, slamming her Subaru into the ice van described with the subtly, oh, with the subtlety of a brick as Melanie 40, a fat blue hair. A fat blue hair. Is the character description. Again, because everything's a blue hair.
Starting point is 00:36:35 A woman. A blue hair is a name for like old people from the... Yeah, but it's now become the name for, you know, someone who's, um, likes to shop at, um, multicolored sign coffee shops. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Or, or believes in their own rights. Because like you even see, like you'll see interviews where they'll ask like conservatives like, like how do you know how to spot a liberal? And so many them go, they probably got dyed hair. Right.
Starting point is 00:36:58 They're like, you like, like, aren't you too old to have no gray hair? Or what are we talking about? What exactly? What's the, what's the line here? Creative expression with your hair color.
Starting point is 00:37:06 And then, that goes on, it says, the woman blasting NPR revs up again and fatally hits Ice Agent Juan with her car, then his partner, quote, Mike shoots her in a justifiable killing. I love rolling, rolling around my liberal neighborhood, blasting all things consensurate with your blue hair. With the windows down.
Starting point is 00:37:33 That is the song. D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D. Fuck Warren, G, I'm fucking with Warren All me, motherfucker. Yo, Steve Inskey and I are coming back for you, my fucker. You do have to blast it because these fuckers are whispering. You can't hear what they're saying. Kyle Rizdahl and I are coming for your kids. Oh, hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Kyle Riz-D-King, bro. Thank you. So, again, this is from the script. And this is, like, this is a disturbing depiction of a shooting of, like, this is how they're trying to make it feel like, like this was a justifiable killing with ice agents. It says Melanie reacts to the drawn gun with panic. She matches on the gas as she throws the car into reverse,
Starting point is 00:38:16 accidentally slamming wan out of the way. He goes flying into the gutter bleeding. And as the car reverses, Mike fires twice through the windshield. The first shot hits Melanie in the neck below her COVID mask, the second above her COVID mask. Blood spatters on her past. This is too good.
Starting point is 00:38:33 It's great. Blood spatters on her passengers, parenthetical 40s female overweight forehead and matching COVID mask. This is what's fucking written in the script. Yeah, this is just all, this is like anti-propagant. This is the kind of thing where like, this is so bad. The only people who are going to watch this are like people going to have a watch party in a blue hair watch party in Portland to watch this trap.
Starting point is 00:39:01 You watch it while we dye your hair blue. Yeah. and run a NPR donation drive. Yeah, yeah. Just all along that Oregon-Ida-O-Dahoe border, you know, a lot of people are going to be really loving it. It so goes on. From there, the ice agent drags his suspect into the pawn shop
Starting point is 00:39:19 with an Antifa mob hot on their heels. The stage is now set for a siege during which numerous Molotov cocktails will be thrown and shotgun shells will fly. Rest assured that no liberal piety will survive. Yeah, so. I think again, like to your point, this, this is for people who get bloodlust from watching ice, you know, to be violent in the streets, like essentially. And so there's also, they also have characters that conservatives love from the L.A. riots, aka Rooftop Koreans.
Starting point is 00:39:54 Again, this is a group of shop owners who during the L.A. riots were like had guns protecting like their store. And then a lot of conservatives like this because they like to reinforce the. idea that you should be shooting looters. And that's really what it's all about, baby. When the looting starts, the shoot and starts. This quote, a Korean grocery store joining the pawn shop introduces the idea, beloved by very online conservatives, of a rooftop Korean that will figure prominently in the film. In an apparent nod to Shapiro's ongoing struggles with more bigoted elements on the right,
Starting point is 00:40:25 a treacherous heroin addict trapped in the shop is also a racist who calls a more enlightened conservative character a cuck those that was like one of those words yeah a treacherous a treacherous heroin addict so you got two conservatives in there
Starting point is 00:40:46 one being the stand in for probably like the groipers who you know like the Nick Fuentes of the world and and so they are calling the enlightened conservative or Ben Shapiro a cuck because that's all he hears now and he's like no I'm a chud I'm not
Starting point is 00:41:02 a cuck and actually you're on and actually you're on heroin so uh that's actually you're you're a treacherous heroin addict who shouldn't be who shouldn't be acknowledged at all um so yeah this has led to locals like having a mixture of like confusion and outrage to what's going on like one woman said she saw a bunch of dudes in tack gear in the street and there was no camera crew around and she's like what the fuck's going on like it's we're shooting a movie it's rehearsal yeah like uh okay um yeah it says Quote, Livingston resident Kegan Nishan, a political organizer and reproductive health care access advocates, spent five hours shouting, Ben Shapiro is a cuck into a megaphone to the melody of London Bridge is falling down on the second day of filming. Nashan said, people initially thought the film was anti-ice. And the production has every right to do with their money as they see fit, as I have every right to protest with my time as I see fit.
Starting point is 00:41:53 It is clear this is a pro-ice film. Yeah. He said running his hand through his bright blue hair. Yeah, clutching his NPR tote bag. Over the strains of NPR, blasting from his car stair, from the subwoofers blasting out of the trunk of his car. Then he said, I must get back to my socialist commune and check on my sourdough starter. Boring his rap music jacket. I do just love the detail, slamming Juan out of the way.
Starting point is 00:42:25 He goes flying into the gutter bleeding. Yeah. He goes flying into the gutter. such good writing goes flying. I'm sure that's in a lot of, as an actor, I'm sure you used to reading that phrase. Oh, yeah. It's a typical director thing.
Starting point is 00:42:40 So this is the part where you go flying. I'm going to, and then Melanie, she's going to go flying into you. So you guys collide in the middle. Then Ben Diesel, he goes flying, but he's in a car. And everyone goes flying, but we're all flying. So you're all relatively flying. So it's like anime, where we're flying like, ah, you know.
Starting point is 00:43:00 Disclosure. He goes flying. Yeah. And then he does Nerido run into one and he goes flying. Right. Everyone's flying. Everyone's flying. And you're all wearing matching COVID masks, NPR COVID masks.
Starting point is 00:43:14 Ripping in blue dye. You know, this is the version that they wanted, right? That they told everybody that the person like attacked someone with their car and they were, you know, in the hospital clinging to life until the video was released. It was like a person looked like they were inconvenienced. You know, they stepped to the side and then fired the shots. Yeah, they have to have this kind of thing to help justify whatever's happening. But they're doing it in such a heavy-handed way, like Johnny, to your point, like, I don't even like, this isn't going to move the needle for anyone. Certainly people are going to watch us and go, you're right, Ben Shapiro.
Starting point is 00:43:50 I should, I should be more suspicious of the blue hair NPR people out here. You can't get people to watch a good movie. It's impossible. Unless you have like $20 million to promote something, no one even knows anything is even happening anymore. It's impossible. This is something where it's just like an act of, what do you call it?
Starting point is 00:44:14 Like the action of doing it is the art. Right, right, right. Exactly. Performance art. It's basically a form of, yes, conservative performance art. There's a couple other details. It said like inside the pawn shop, we meet its grizzled Hispanic owner
Starting point is 00:44:28 and his son newly back from college and majoring in Chicano studies. Much to his father's chagrin, the son is dressed in a Che Guevara shirt and quote, listening to a pop song unfitting for a man, end quote. What the fuck is that mean? Again, because everyone's, everyone's like, you don't even know if these people are straight or gay or whatever. They listen to girl music. What the fuck is this? What's going on here?
Starting point is 00:44:54 I feel like this like, uh. Upon shop security guard quips, they're lucky. didn't get a sex change. In case this instance of conservative humor. Yeah. In case this instance... I'd like to get one in the morning and then switch back just before we record just to wake me up. Yeah, sure, sure.
Starting point is 00:45:10 That's how quickly it happens. They also describe, quote, an overweight liberal in a mobility scooter, quote, bellows as only one with morbid obesity can. Posing as an innocent laborer, the MS-13 member begs other characters to protect him. So again, anyone who's innocent. is actually MS-13, and then every phobia, fatphobic, transphobic, whatever, xenophobic, all flavors just pushed into this into one neat, sloppy package. All right. Should we talk about category fraud?
Starting point is 00:45:43 I don't really care about category fraud, but this does seem like a new, interesting level of it, where obsession is being submitted to the musical or comedy category of the Golden Globes, because I think it's just like becoming sort of a genre kind. category. Yeah. Which. The Martian, I think, really changed things. Like when they were...
Starting point is 00:46:03 Well, now you're talking about my favorite comedy. Yeah. Was that when something is a comedy? Yeah, that one for Best Comedy or Musical. Yeah, yeah. Weird. Bagonia was submitted as a musical or comedy. Right.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Yeah. So I just feel like maybe... Because, so the Oscars last year were like, we're going to do a thing where popular movies can be nominated in this, like, achievement in what is it, box office arts or something? Yeah, that is... And it kind of sucks.
Starting point is 00:46:35 It's like demeaning. I do think like maybe we just do a category for genre movies, the same way that like an animated movie can be nominated for like best animated movie. But then it could also be like a best picture nominee if you want it to be. So like have a
Starting point is 00:46:51 genre category for horror, comedy. So that those movies can like like get in the mix a little bit. And then I feel like if you did that, the thing that would scare them the most is that if you're, if you're just splitting out like the drama movies in the main category, like that,
Starting point is 00:47:11 that would become the niche category that like nobody would pay attention to. That's true though. Yeah. I mean, I'm kind of my counterpoint is that I think they, it's cool that a lot of horror movies don't get awards because it's like, the words are so slanted and tilt, tilted in the way where they really are not representative whatsoever of what people like that to have them included is like not really it's just they already have the award of being like
Starting point is 00:47:39 super popular among people who like movies so it's like yeah like they don't need it yeah the whole the award scene is such a just so screwy yeah i mean i wonder if that would help studios make more comedies if they knew they could get an Academy Award for making a comedy. Yeah, and like get attention to comedies and horror movies and stuff like that. I mean, yeah, you don't really need it for horror movies because they already are just like making so many of those anyways. But comedy, it would be neat. Look at like Terrifier, right?
Starting point is 00:48:09 Like, Terrifier made a significant amount of money and it'll never win any kind of award, but it's made, it's made, what do you call, per capita or whatever, per budget, like, more than almost any movie ever. Yeah. And they, they, the, all those awards places, probably hate that movie because it's, right, it's kind of, you know, it's kind of trashy in a way. It's like, uh, but it's, I think it's fun and awesome, but it's like, it's not like elite. It's not like, yeah, yeah, yeah, doesn't have actors in it who are people who would be on Good Morning
Starting point is 00:48:39 America. Right. I get your point too, Johnny. Like, people aren't being like, well, did the Academy say this was a good movie for something like that? It's like, at this point, it's like asking like what someone's like boomer grandfather thought of like the G&X album by Kendrick Lamar. It's like, I don't give a fuck with you. Yeah, who cares at all? All that stuff is,
Starting point is 00:48:57 I remember the best thing ever was when Bong, is it Bong June Ho? Is that the name of the director for Parasite? Yeah, Parasite. Yeah. When he won that, um,
Starting point is 00:49:05 when he won the Academy Award, he's like, it's so nice to win this, um, American award. Yeah, this regional award. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:49:11 regional award. I was like, oh, that's just like, that was the most, oh, it was just dripping. Like, I've won a lot of awards in other countries.
Starting point is 00:49:20 I want this regional award. Thank you for this regional award. Yeah. Is this just the true cap to your career as a filmmaker? And he was like, no, what? Why would this be that important to me? The first thing is making the films. And then it's watching them, that it's making more films.
Starting point is 00:49:42 And then somewhere like seven or eight steps down the line is, oh, you want an award? That's cool. That's fine. Yeah, that's nice. It's good. Up there is resonance with the audience, I would say. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:53 Or like, what's that like in your film? Yeah. Anyways. Let's take a quick break and we'll talk a little bit about a theme parks. We'll be right back. You've heard the chaos. Now you can see it. Hello.

Come on Bell, this season of my podcast who's with me, I speak with two-time Emmy winner and weirdly one of my best friends, Kevin Avery. Everything up to that point, build you as a comic.
Starting point is 00:54:36 Us going on the road doing Battle Mountain and Ely and all this shit. You were one of the first people who took me on the road, which is funny because at the time I was like, I don't know if I like this guy. With rapper, actor, David Diggs. The jump off for me was Hamilton and it was the most popular thing in a very long time. But it was still for me, it was me and my friends making something. dumb. Bruce Lee's daughter and Brandon Lee's sister, Shannon Lee. Back to your initial point
Starting point is 00:55:04 of stewarding my father's legacy and giving my energy to that. You're lending your life to stewarding somebody else's life. Listen to Who's With Me with Debbie Comeop Bell on the Iheart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:55:20 And we're back. We're back. And so the New York Times just published an article about a history-themed amusement park that is clearly just far-right propaganda. It's coming soon to the UK. It's being accused of weaponizing history to popularize the values of its founder,
Starting point is 00:55:46 who is a right-wing person. And in the context of that, people are talking about this a similar theme park that was attempted in America that was like similar scale. And it fell apart because the person who has,
Starting point is 00:56:01 who was like funding it was just a guy, just one guy who like made a bunch of money. An old man with pizza hut franchise money. Who made his money by just spreading pizza, a Johnny apple seed of pizza huts in the 90s. And he was going to make a like American history theme park with a Americana theme. So it just,
Starting point is 00:56:24 it didn't seem like they had really done a lot of thinking about it beyond the like a one sheet that they have created right the elevator pitch line the log line for it uh yeah it's like an american heartland theme park dealing with the like kind of aesthetic going to be like Disneyland yeah Disneyland that's Disneyland it's like right yeah yeah Disneyland has American history themed sections yeah imagine that was everything dude everything it's like a shitty unrealized Disneyland with no vision And less work put into it with a core of the staff. But there's something about this pitch that appeals to people that people are like, well, what if there's a, what if there's a Disneyland but for me? Like, what if instead of Walt Disney, it was like shit that I like, you know?
Starting point is 00:57:16 And like, like, as mentioned of top, like there's always theme parks being made. Like, this came up recently in the Field of Dreams story where the people, who like built the baseball field on the where they shot field of dreams in Iowa have been like working on this massive like baseball theme park complex baseball complex that's just been like draining money like just get bilking investors for years and years similarly there was a garfield one there's a dracula one people are just like oh yeah what what about a theme park that had a theme the fact that conservatives want this? Like it's again, it's like the way conservatives think where they're like, well, we need our own version of this thing that's very popular. And it's like it's not popular because
Starting point is 00:58:07 you need your own version. You completely fail to understand the appeal of it. It's not that, well, if we build a racist Disneyland, then we can shift culture. It's that you don't, you're not even actually tapped into what Disneyland or a theme part does for people rather than you'd be like, we can rewrite history in Native American street or whatever they have to completely just erase like the history of indigenous American people. They do have a Charlotte's Web theme for some reason. Charlottes Webb.
Starting point is 00:58:36 Maybe you can take a buttermilk bath. I don't know. You might be able to. Yeah. Or like, yeah, it's sort of like a Nickelodeon where you get slimed or something. Go get under the buttermilk bath bucket. Woo! Isn't this kind of like, what's it called? Raystar, what's the...
Starting point is 00:58:51 Waystar Royco? Yeah, this sort of feels a little bit like that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yep, yep. So it fell apart. in 2025, when the guy, the founder, or the funder sued his business partners, accusing them of concocting a predatory conspiracy of psychological manipulation to convince him that God himself was commanding him to pay for the project. And the way they did that is these businessmen created a fake nun named Sister Catherine, who, speaking for God, instructed him to pay for this theme park with his own.
Starting point is 00:59:28 money and then he had to like all the money was in a trust for his five children and 45 grandchildren and he like had a lawyer dig in to like try and claw that money back because he thought a nun was telling him he was going to go to hell if he didn't do that this is this sounds beyond fiction this is truly but that's where we live now this is it's all scams this guy this guy who got built he's 93 years old so you know These guys were rubbing their midst being like, yeah, do watch this. Fucking text him this shit. What did say one of these fake texts was, this is today's devotion.
Starting point is 01:00:10 Today's world awake, my child. This is a day of great decision and urgency. I've spoken to you so very long preparing you for this juncture in time. But today, you must finally make a crucial decision. The mission will not tolerate anything but absolute obedience and absolute cliff diving faith from the highest mount above the sea. So can we get $60 million really quick? Man.
Starting point is 01:00:32 How's that? That's the great thing about all this stuff. People are so dumb that it's like nothing will ever happen. Yeah, sure, sure. You could give them a thousand years and they wouldn't be able to figure out building a fucking outhouse. It's just people scamming each other back and forth. Yeah. Like where we're at in the American economy, nobody's actually doing anything.
Starting point is 01:00:52 Everyone's just scamming each other back and forth. But so he apparently wrote a book called The Personal Side of Grower. God, the Holy Spirit speaks to a businessman, the old guy, which was made in, published in 2021. So either he was like talking about these fake messages from God that he was getting, or they probably, my guess is they used that. They were like, chat GPT, ingest all of the shit that he says in this book about his personal relationship with God and then create a nun character to like, you know, appeal to his psychological weed. Well, it was, it was published by the, or sold by the same company that's
Starting point is 01:01:32 building the theme park. Yeah. You know what I mean? It's a lot of good material. You know, oh yeah, let's make that book, Gene. That sounds real good. So God was talking to you, right? We're going to love this. We're going to publish your book. We're going to put it out. Really? Mm-hmm. The one where Sister Catherine was, yeah, the same one, dude. God was talking to you. We got to get the word out, man. We got to get the word out. And the people who were taking, like, trying to get the money from him and who like they they said that they like got millions of dollars and the only thing they did with the money was like spend it on themselves and their families but they did like make a picture with them at like a roadside like breaking ground on a thing so
Starting point is 01:02:15 they like created a fake like groundbreaking ceremony but they they've come out and been like we were actually scared of him so it was his idea to do the god thing uh which it's you know i mean that one person's their defense is so fucking flimsy and terrible he said quote it was a horrible situation for me because i shouldn't have done it but the reality is he demanded it and then would threaten me and i didn't know whether it was against you know he would hurt me or have someone hurt my family i didn't know that because he would he would constantly make references to like the godfather and stuff and i'm thinking man i'm italian and i said you You know, it scares me.
Starting point is 01:02:59 Wow. That's actually a pretty good defense. You know, hey, you know, I'm Italian, so it scares me. That's what I always say. I don't know because, you know, I'm like Italian defense. I am Italian, so this scares me. They also lawyers on that side got caught using chat GPT, like filing their legal priests. They were like, oh, yeah, these are all AI generated.
Starting point is 01:03:25 This entire thing some of the AI generally. Yeah, it does. It really feels like you can just, this is where we're headed with AI, which is just like, one person can do,
Starting point is 01:03:35 conduct the scam that a hundred people would have been required to do before. It seems like a parallel story to how, like, people are like navigating Trump in office, who's similarly a senile old person where people are just trying to get
Starting point is 01:03:48 whatever they can out of them. Oh, yeah, man. We're just going to tell them fucking lies to get stuff done. But, I do feel like a multi-million dollar grift involving Christianity is probably the most fitting tribute to America that you could come up with, you know, probably more fitting than what the theme park was going to do. Sure, sure, sure. Add some pumpkins.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Yeah, a couple of them. Yeah. Why not? What about candy corn? How do we feel about candy corn? I hate it. And I've always said that. I think it's disgusting.
Starting point is 01:04:18 Yeah. I think you're kind of notorious against it, aren't you? Yeah, I feel like Johnny, you've been on. Yes. Yes. Yes. I remember this now. I remember now.
Starting point is 01:04:26 This is a while. This is a long time ago. Yeah, yeah. Because I don't, I don't like that it looks appealing to me. And then I eat and I go, what the fuck is this? And I was like, I like, I like, I like, I like, I don't think the look is even like one of the better parts of it. Like, I don't think it looks good necessarily to me. It looks like little.
Starting point is 01:04:41 I think it looks inviting because it's such. It's such a part of like the visual aesthetic of Halloween that I'm like, this shit's got a bang. Yeah. I think for me. I'm thinking about right now. I'm getting, I'm getting, I want it. More than those Skittles? More than those tropical Skittles?
Starting point is 01:04:56 Of course not, but that's like, you know. Okay, making sure. Making sure you have lost the plot. Skittles are like intergalactic, like, you know, witchcraft. And Candy Corn walked so Skittles could run. Thank you. I'm a fan of icing. And Candy Corn has always felt like eating little pieces of icing, which I'm here for.
Starting point is 01:05:20 But is that a pizza topic? No. It could be. It could be, apparently. So in the right hands, but I don't think Tombstone is necessarily the right hands. Tombstone is releasing a pizza that comes with optional candy corn pizza toppings, one with pepperoni, one with four cheese, five cheese pizza, creating a creamy combination of five premium cheeses that perfectly compliments or is perfectly complimented by the candy corn surprising sweetness. Never been surprised by the sweetness of candy corn. Sweet. Is this candy? Is this candy?
Starting point is 01:05:56 Back is this. I thought this was what actual corn looked like. Thought this was cheese. Why is this sweet? Yeah, I don't, I'm not against sweet. I don't mind having the occasional pizza with. Yeah, like hot honey. Yeah. Pepperone and ham.
Starting point is 01:06:15 Pineapples, that's great. Yeah, yeah. That's what I was trying to say pineapple and I kept saying pepperoni. That's where I'm at. Uh-oh. Personally. Still getting those texts from that, none? She's really scared me, man. I would try it.
Starting point is 01:06:31 I'll just say, but I would try it. Comes in a frozen pizza? Comes in a frozen pizza. I would try it maybe on a different, I would maybe order a good piece of pepperoni pizza and then sprinkle some candy corn on it. Who wouldn't do that? Me.
Starting point is 01:06:45 I feel like Miles. I feel like many people wouldn't. If you wanted the candy corn on your pizza, you're going to be like, hmm, should I just buy this pizza that has the frozen pizza? candy corn or can I just toss a couple candy corns on there, you know? I'll do it to just to see if it actually, if it fucks or not. I don't know if it does. It is being sold as a specialty item online for barely more than a dollar per pie,
Starting point is 01:07:10 which makes me somewhat suspicious of the non-candy corn ingredients. Oh, this is not good. This is bad. This is bad guys. This is some sort of a candy corn wash. This is a classic. You see, this is a classic grip here. Classic candy corn washing. Yeah. Yeah. Candy corn wash.
Starting point is 01:07:27 Why falling victim to that? My God. That sounds. This is just one horror after another here. And the company's called, why are you called Tombstone? Oh, because like, that's, that's your next decision you'll make. It is a classic, uh, frozen pizza brand that I'd never stopped to ask. Me too.
Starting point is 01:07:47 That's a weird, that's a weird reason. It's like, what if you bought many hamburgers from a company called Graveyard. Is there a graveyard? We have a graveyard cheeseburger? Yeah. Like, what the fuck is tombstone? So it happened because one of the founders were, yeah, they owned a place called the tombstone tap.
Starting point is 01:08:07 They were like, well, we have to go with this. They owned a bar, a tavern that was across the street from a cemetery. Oh, okay. So that's how it initially started. It is a good name for a bar. I think Tombstone is a fine name for a bar. I was thinking that I was thinking they had like the person who made tombstones also had a brick oven. They made out of the same stones as the tombstones.
Starting point is 01:08:31 They cooked pizzas. That's pretty metal. Yeah, you're cooking up some more that I could get behind. I could have like a pizza cooked on like Eggrell and's pose stolen headstone or something like that. Get this pepperoni poats. Eggerel and Roney. Johnny Pemberton, such a pleasure of having you as always on the show.
Starting point is 01:08:53 Thank you for having me. Always. Where can people find you, follow you, all that good stuff? You can come see me live in Honolulu on the 6th of October. Then you can go see me live in Pittsburgh. I think the 15th and 16th of October, bottle rocket. I'll be in New York City at the Bell House on the 18th of October.
Starting point is 01:09:13 And you can find more stuff all at johnny Pemberton. Dot dog. Maybe. Johnny, is your dog okay? She goes, she goes. Nervous mumbled dog, yep, I know those. She also just breathe and she goes, that dog.
Starting point is 01:09:38 Not dog. Peace, y'all. I've got that dog in me, but it's a dog that needs to wear a thunder vest to just relax a little bit. Don't we all. Is there work of media you've been enjoying, Tony? Oh, yeah. So this is this guy, you know, Mr. Bao? This is like a TikTok thing.
Starting point is 01:09:56 No, okay. This is produced by the country of China, and it's sort of like a rural, a rural guy who like makes stuff. He lives in like the rural China. He always wears this little hat. And there's probably like 40 or 50 accounts who plays this guy's videos.
Starting point is 01:10:12 And it's like a real big trend on TikTok. And the really cool thing about it is this, like sort of this TikTok lore where once you see a mystery about video, it's time to go to sleep. Yeah. So the comments are filled like, oh, it's 1 p.m., but rules are rules. Wait, and that like, after a certain point of scrolling, if Mr. Biao shows up, then you're like, all right, pack it up.
Starting point is 01:10:35 But they're also super relaxing. It's like very innocent, super wholesome content. I just, I think anything like homesteady, I love that shit. Oh, like process-based kind of thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I get that. And this guy is like just the ultimate, but I feel like I don't. don't know anyone in my life personally who knows about him. I feel like it's only people who have the same TikTok algorithm as I do, but it's a great one to have, you know.
Starting point is 01:11:02 Yeah. Oh, no. Producer knows. He's the best and he only shows up at 1 a.m. for some reason. Because he's trying to tell you to go to bed because it's a nice relaxing video. It's usually about a minute and a half long. You get to watch him make like some sort of hawflakes or some crap or like, you know, Kim Chi. He's making all this stuff at home with like rule implements and stuff. It's really, um, it could be state Chinese propaganda for all I know, but it feels like it's good propaganda. Yeah, that's, I'm with it. But I watch it. Does he know you can just buy that stuff at the store though? Well, he lives, he lives in the middle nowhere, I think, so he has to make it for himself. See, he'd love America because you can just go to a store and buy that stuff.
Starting point is 01:11:41 I could see some real, uh, conservatives being like meeting, you know, what's the horseshoe theory, whatever it's called? Right. Right. Like Mr. Bao and they find out later like, Appeals to all. Yeah. Wait a minute. He was communist. Oh, man. And even that, it's like, so what?
Starting point is 01:11:58 He's a homesteader. He's like, yeah. Yeah. Oops. Miles, where can people find you? Is there a work of media you've been enjoying? Yeah, find me everywhere at Miles of Gray. You like 90-day fiancé, the reality show?
Starting point is 01:12:13 Then listen to my other podcast, 420-day fiancé. Get it? No? We'll check it out, and you might. Also, you like English football, the Premier League, talking about soccer? Then check out the other other show, Aynette Footy with Jamel Johnson and Chris Martin. A work of media I like, you know, a lot of people, Senator Eric Schmidt just created a meme template without even fucking knowing it. And one of the best tweets I saw was from at KF Peters on Twitter.
Starting point is 01:12:45 And again, everyone is just kind of doing their own version of Eric Schmidt trying to press Jack Smith. about, we get that Atlanta Hawks game? Hawkeyes, shit. So this one reads, Schmidt, how much involvement did you have
Starting point is 01:12:58 in planning 9-11? Smith, none? Schmidt. Let's jog your memory, scumb bag. Lifts panel shows text bubble. I can't wait to see
Starting point is 01:13:09 the Jets kill the Patriots. That's good. That's really good. Well done. Let's jog your memory, scumb bag. That was his energy. going into that.
Starting point is 01:13:21 Did he say that? No, but he essentially communicated that with his body language and whole energy. He's like, oh, he didn't think we, you bet you didn't know we had all this stuff, did you?
Starting point is 01:13:34 So I'll let you take a second to process it so you don't purge it yourself is what he said. Well, look at his face. He's looking confused. Like he doesn't know how we got all this good stuff on him. Oh, yeah. Go ahead. Scumbag.
Starting point is 01:13:48 I like to tweet by Brooks Otterlake who said, oh good. They're sending a bunch of guys up a staircase to get born. Looks like this is the end for old borny. That's what I think every time I'm watching one of the born movies. And it feels like perfect like sunrise early morning music just to kind of play.
Starting point is 01:14:49 in the background or whatever time resonates with you, but it's just a fantastic, fantastic track called Dream Another by Makaya McR-Craven, MC-C-R-A-V-E-N. All right.
