Starting point is 00:02:03 Hello, the internet, and welcome to Season 87, Episode 2 of your daily zeitgeist. A production of iHeartRadio, this is a podcast where we take a deep dive into America's shared consciousness and say officially off the top, fuck Coke Industries and fuck Fox News. It's Tuesday, June 18th, 2019. My name is Jack O'Brien, a.k.a. Wake me up before you go, go. Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo, 2019. My name is Jack O'Brien, a.k.a. Wake me up before you go. Go. Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo. Brian is courtesy of Hannah Soltis. And I'm thrilled to be joined by today's guest co-host, Mr. Billy Wayne Davis.
Starting point is 00:02:38 Good day. Good day. Good day to you, sir. Fuck Coke Industries. Yeah, fuck Coke Industries. Fuck Fox News, too. Yeah. Am I right or am I right well we are thrilled to be joined in our third seat by the hilarious and talented mono agapian hi hey it is you what's up what's up man we're thrilled to have you here fuck those people people. Yeah, fuck those people. What a cool name. Oh, Mono Agatheon. Really? It's great. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:03:07 And it is spelled the way you would think, and it sounds the way you would. Oh, that's good to hear. That's very nice. I always, I can't admit though, because I'm partially Greek, and so that's my Greek last name. It's Greek. I've kind of always wanted a stupidly Greek last name. Oh, like a long one? Yeah, like.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Like impossible to pronounce. For the populace. Like something like that. Galifianakis is even pretty easy to pronounce as far as Greek names go. Once you get there, you're like, oh, that's easy. Yes, but it's like reading Hebrew, though, when you get to it. You're like, I don't know what any of that sounds like. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:03:43 I used to know a Greek man whose name was Footballopolis. But okay, in Greek it's... That sounds so mean. We're on a podcast. I just head tilted turn. So his last name was Podosforopoulos. Which is insane.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Right. And I'm always like, God, I want that. That's amazing. I want that for me. So Polish last names and Matthew McConaughey spelling of his last name are the hardest for me to spell for whatever reason. I know. People give a lot of schmack to other languages, but English is the true ne'er-do-well of the international grammar world. Just made up rules. Oh, well, it's the worst. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Oh, well, it's the worst because it's just – it's my favorite language because if you use a word incorrectly long enough, it becomes the correct way to use it. Other languages are like, no. My grandmother used to be mad at the word get, like truly mad at the English word get because we use it so crazy. Think about how you use get. Like get up. Get me that drink. Did you get the bags? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:55 We haven't even gotten to the G-I-T use of it. Oh, my God. Right? Get. Yeah. Get. Get. Get. When you yell at raccoons when they come close to your trash cans.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Is that get? It's the hillbilly's only law. Git! Git! Think about how insane that word is. Yeah. Just in your life, how you use it. She was English as a second language.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Yes. She was learning English as a second language. And she was like, this word's bullshit. Git! That's so interesting. You're right. I had no idea. A D in English.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Bobby, you speak English. All right. We're going to get to D in English. Bobby, you speak English. All right. We're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment. First, we're going to tell our listeners just a few of the things we're talking about today. We now have confirmation that YouTube is bad for you. Oh, no. Not that we needed it. going to talk about in case you're feeling like the faintest glimmer of hope about uh the democratic party's chances in 2020 uh we will extinguish that uh with a vengeance uh ice has
Starting point is 00:05:54 stopped updating their list of people who died in ice custody uh which is troubling uh we're going to talk about it's just going to be easier to tell you who didn't die. Exactly. Right, at this point. And then we're gonna talk about kind of a wide roaming subject that starts with OJ Simpson and Bill Cosby's tweets on Father's Day over the weekend. Oh, that's good. This is 2019. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:22 We are 2019. That makes me want Casey Anthony to pipe up on Mother's Day. You know what I mean? Still living la dolce vita. Then we're going to talk about Taylor Swift doing the pride stuff in her new video. And Tupac would have turned 48 over the weekend. So we're going to check in with him. He wouldn't have. He wouldn't have.
Starting point is 00:06:48 I just don't see it happening. You don't see him making it. He seemed real up and down. Yeah. Like instability. Yeah. I don't think he wanted to last that long. I feel like he was chasing something.
Starting point is 00:06:58 Yeah. He also loved Machiavelli so much. Right. And he was obsessed with, you know, like, and Machiavelli so much. And he was obsessed with, you know, like, and Machiavelli's whole thing was like, fear is better than power. Right. Or
Starting point is 00:07:11 that complicated relationship between respect and fear. Fear is better than respect, yeah. Yeah, that whole thing. Well, you get more done with fear than you do respect. It's true. I mean, that's the unfortunate reality of our life. Yeah. Some people think the prince, the whole Machiavellian thing, was written as a satire of basically he was writing
Starting point is 00:07:32 under a really terrible leader who did all the things that he was writing about. So he was like, yeah, no, this is how you should rule. And then a bunch of people just took it very seriously. Yeah, exactly. He just kept leaning into the sarcastic bit and he's like, no, I really mean it. No, he's watching them read it and he's like, right?
Starting point is 00:07:53 Right? And everybody's like, no, this is good. You nailed it. These are rules for living. Is this a manual? The bit became a lie. The bit became a lie. I should have winked. I should have winked. Put it all in parentheses.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Or put it all in italics. All right, Mano. But first we like to ask our guest, what is something from your search history that's revealing about who you are? I would say the most revealing thing that isn't like porn, because everyone looks at porn. It would be like I read a lot of food review blogs. Okay. except porn. It would be like,
Starting point is 00:08:24 I read a lot of food review blogs. Okay. Because there's like certain foods I won't allow myself to purchase, but I want to experience vicariously. Interesting. Go on. Like there's ones like Brand Eating, The Impulsive Buy,
Starting point is 00:08:36 Cerealistly.com, On Second Scoop. What's a food that you don't want to buy, but you want to experience? Like seasonal hostess cakes. Oh. It's like hostess now has a summer lineup of banana split cupcakes. I'm like, I can't in good reason buy a box of those.
Starting point is 00:08:54 You know what it tastes like? I just can't. Huh? It tastes like the chemical version of all those flavors. It turns out it tastes like the color red and yellow. Yes. Just overwhelmed by sugar. Yes. We're just overwhelmed by sugar. Yes.
Starting point is 00:09:05 So I love reading those because I can read someone's way too explicit take on those things. But I'm like, oh, but I would never allow myself to buy it. And when they're reviewing Hostess cupcakes, how flowery do they get linguistically? Oh, there's paragraphs. The fact that there's more than one paragraph is shocking. They get pretty flowery do they get linguistically? Oh, there's paragraphs. The fact that there's more than one paragraph is shocking. They get pretty flowery. Yeah, there's like notes of amaranth and vanilla. Really?
Starting point is 00:09:32 You'd be surprised. Well, I mean, if heroin users were at themselves enough, they would describe it. It's the same thing in your brain that's lighting up. Yeah. It's just, and I was, because what made me realize that was I was like, oh I watch all those National Geographic documentaries
Starting point is 00:09:50 or like Drugs and Corporate, like that's probably why I watch that too, because I'm like, well I'm never gonna do math or heroin, but let's check this out. And I've gotten in the game now and I have a cereal tasting Instagram account. Nice. So now I'm in there deep. What is a cereal that based on reviews you want to try that you haven't given yourself the opportunity to try it at?
Starting point is 00:10:13 Okay, yeah. There's some new exciting ones. There's Cotton Candy Crunch. Cap'n Crunch has released a Cotton Candy Crunch. Okay. Now that is- Because I can't just say, here's some cocaine on cereal. Holy shit.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Here's cocaine for your child. What it does is the Captain Crunch, it cuts the top of your roof, and then the cocaine just gets in there quicker. Yeah, it is the skull method of narcotic delivery. Straight to the dome, bro. You gotta freebase that red number five. Yeah, I want to try freebase that red number five. Right. Yeah, I wanna try that and then Drumstick.
Starting point is 00:10:47 General Mills is releasing a, as in Drumstick the ice cream. Drumstick? Oh, okay, good. Drumstick the ice cream is now releasing a cereal. Okay. Which,
Starting point is 00:10:57 I could get behind that. I wonder if what that's like because I think, let's take a swing and I think cereal-inspired ice cream is always gonna be tastier than ice cream-inspired cereal. Yes. 100%. Yeah. 100 is that is a truism that's a fact 100 but I'm going to try it I'm gonna try it yeah uh well I need to dig into this world of junk food uh based sort of the what
Starting point is 00:11:20 naked lunches to heroin these are to the junk food industry. It's fascinating. What is something that you think is underrated? I'm going to say teeny tiny underwear. Teeny tiny underwear. Interesting. Do you think that's rated enough? Do you think that's underrated across the board?
Starting point is 00:11:41 I think- For all people. All people. You know what it is? Maybe I should say wearing tiny underwear. Across the board? I think... For all people? All people. Or is this a certain aesthetic? You know what it is? Maybe I should say wearing tiny underwear. Huh. I think we as people...
Starting point is 00:11:50 You feel a little bit. Yeah. We as people love looking at other people in tiny underwear. Right. But I think we don't let ourselves feel the freedom of wearing tiny underwear. Okay. Well, I think there's a thin line between comfortable tiny underwear and terribly uncomfortable. Agree.
Starting point is 00:12:06 It's a thin line usually. It is a thin line. That goes right up your ass crack. I didn't mean it like that, but, you know, we'll go there. A thin line is my favorite Speedo line. It is. No, but, like, I don't know. I guess it's also probably, like, part of my, like, journey to be more comfortable naked.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Right. I want to be comfortable naked. I'm going to Greece this summer, and I'm, like, like gonna try to force myself to go to a nude beach um because here's why being scared of being naked is like one of the most irrational fears and a lot of us naked where like in public on public and irrational i think it's okay i think that's a very vulnerable thing in public to be naked because you're like, people could fuck me up real bad right now. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Have you seen Eastern Promises? Yes, because of that movie. Wait, what's that? Oh, you like it. It's the jaws of nudity. Okay. It will terrify you of nudity because there is a prolonged and really just violent knife fight that happens in a locker room.
Starting point is 00:13:07 And it's naked. Both of the men are naked and just dicks flying all over the place. What country? I just did a hand gesture of dicks flying all over. It's not sexual. It's not sexual. It doesn't sound sexual. It's just, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:18 What country made it? Your nudity is your vulnerability. That does not sound American. It's Eastern Europe. Yeah, it's Eastern Europe. It's made by, what's his name? Body horror guy. Eli Roth? No.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Body horror. That sounds like those poor... David Cronenberg, yeah. Okay. Right. Okay, okay, okay. But what I'm saying is, I agree, I want to see this movie with dongers flying. It's great. It's a great... It's a good film? It's art. Yes, it is. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:45 And if it was filmed in Eastern Europe, I bet those very same actors trucked their way over to the Bellamy porn studio right after. It's not a feel good movie. I believe you. I believe you. No. But what I want to say is, think about it. It is irrational to be scared of being naked when there's things like guns and knives and
Starting point is 00:14:03 bombs in the world. And we're sometimes more scared of just not when there's things like guns and knives and bombs in the world and we're sometimes more scared of just not wearing clothes. But like in your house? I don't know anywhere because I think about it. We are scared to be naked.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Sometimes. Sure but I'm saying like. Are you scared? I mean I sound like your therapist here. We're like getting to the root of it. But to me, there are certain places I have no fear of being naked at all. And then other places, like in the football locker room in high school, I didn't like being naked because everyone's fucking with everybody at all times. Sure.
Starting point is 00:14:38 It wasn't like I don't want people to see my dick or anything. It was just more like I'm very vulnerable in this position. Right. Because I just watched it happen. But like being at the gym now, which I don't really necessarily go to the gym because I don't like the gym. Right. But being naked there doesn't bother me. I'm still uncomfortable getting naked in the gym.
Starting point is 00:14:57 You should – I feel like I break the sound barrier with how quickly I take off the shorts and then put a towel on top. I am with you. And I'm like, this is so stupid. We all have bodies. Everybody is stupid. Yeah. Well, there is an in-between. There is that dude that's real comfortable.
Starting point is 00:15:21 Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yes. It's like the stage. Some people are way too comfortable on stage. Some people can't do it at all. And then the people that are usually good at it are somewhere in between.
Starting point is 00:15:32 I like that. That's interesting. Way too... What is somebody who's way too comfortable on stage? I'm trying to... Have you ever seen a quote-unquote comedian who's just being self-indulgent? Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Yeah. That'shuh. Yeah. That's way too comfortable. So like later in their career type thing? Or like after they get like 10 minutes. Yeah. Of decent material, then they're like, I'm going to do some stretching. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:57 What is something you think is overrated? Overrated. Okay. Wait, now is this, okay. is this my unpopular opinion moment? It can be, yeah, anything. I think theme parks are overrated. Okay. I think theme parks are overrated.
Starting point is 00:16:15 I can't believe how tricked everyone is into thinking that they're the most fun thing. Okay. To me, they're so much more trouble than they're worth. They're so damn expensive. They're prohibitive. You are trapped there.
Starting point is 00:16:31 They're designed to keep you there all day. The water is $6. The lines are inevitable. The children are awful. Did you go as a child? No. See, I think that's what it is. You missed it. Yes.
Starting point is 00:16:47 Because my foreign parents were like, no. The way they act in a theme park. Yeah. My son is totally different than the other people. And it's like, I have to remember that sometimes, that he's nine and experiencing things that I've already experienced a bunch. Because yeah, you go to the scene portion, this is a fucking scam.
Starting point is 00:17:08 Yeah. But then you look down and he's like, whoa. You're like, oh, yeah, I remember going to one of those places. Through a kid's eyes, yeah. Yeah, and you're like, it is real. And you're like, it's not. They do exist. That little motherfucker, that guy's an alcoholic.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Yeah. Yeah, I think that's what it was. I went when I was 15. Uh-huh. That was too late for the first time. Because you're too horny. I was too fucking horny. Too horny.
Starting point is 00:17:32 I just kept saying goofy and just making eyes at it. Yeah, you're too horny. You're like, who can I fuck in this park right now? My parents aren't watching me at all times. Guys, I still play that game when I'm in too busy of a place like an airport. Yeah. You play this game where like every 10 people that pass. I'm married.
Starting point is 00:17:49 I'd never do that. Oh, I would never. I have a boyfriend of four years. I would never. Every 10 people that pass you, you have to pick one of them to zonk. Uh-huh. And I play that game.
Starting point is 00:18:01 I've heard of that game. Especially when I'm in an airport. I'm also married. Yeah. Yeah. So you would never. You never walk on a plane, you're like, her, her. Make him my friend if this shit goes down.
Starting point is 00:18:12 My boyfriend's, I guess, I don't know. My boyfriend's a real monster and we talk about that kind of thing all the time. That's great. Yeah. And finally, what is a myth? What's something people think is true you know to be false? That I know to be false. Hand jobs?
Starting point is 00:18:30 Hand jobs. Hand jobs. Hand jobs are a myth? Hand jobs are a myth. No, no. And I'll tell you why. I know some women that would be mad at you. I beg to differ.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Because a hand job should always be part of a package not a standalone project a good hand job leads to a blow job right baby sex too okay but like a hand job that's just a hand job is a myth okay that's crazy no i disagree okay i think at a certain i think from like 12 to 15, a handjob can be the exchange. Sure, but that speaks to how much they suck, right? Yeah. Well, I think at first they don't suck. Adult handjobs. At first, someone's touching it.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Yeah, no, adult handjobs, what are you doing? That's madness. Yes, but I think it's an important step. Children should... Did you get a hand job at 12? I was trying to think. Be honest. Probably the first hand job I got was like, and came?
Starting point is 00:19:34 14 or 15. Right. Okay. Wow, good for you. I dry humped, I would say, between 12 and 15, but I didn't get a hand job until later. No, you dry hump because there's no physical contact to the privates for a while. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:48 And then that's the first step. And I'm just thinking like naturally, I mean, I'm talking like gay or straight here. Right. You know what I mean? Where it's like, that's that you need to learn how to handle someone else's with your hand
Starting point is 00:20:00 before you put that in your mouth or inside you. Yeah. Probably a good rule to live by. I had a friend who thought. I'm available for the children's classes. Oh, my God. The joke was just sitting there. Fun story.
Starting point is 00:20:15 One time in college, I had a lesbian friend, and we were like, hey, we don't get each other's stuff. Right. So, like, when we were slammed. So, we're like, let's get drunk. Like we're drunk. We're drunk. So let's like hook up and like kind of give each other a master class on what we're supposed
Starting point is 00:20:32 to do with each other's stuff. And her first move with my dick was to treat it like a light switch. Just go up and down. I'm not kidding. I'm not kidding. She was like, is this good? I was like, yeah Yeah But it's not nearly As good as this
Starting point is 00:20:46 Right Like Like off and on Off and on Like just kind of That's so funny She's wagging it Yeah
Starting point is 00:20:54 Up and down Like it's hard And like Like kind of Going up one way And touching down The other way Oh okay
Starting point is 00:21:01 Like a light switch Right Right And I was like Okay yeah that's good, but that's not where our bread is buttered. That is interesting. It's like the paint motion from Karate Kid.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Oh, wax on, wax off. Yeah, paint up, paint down. Yeah, wax on, wax off. It's circular. So yeah, hand jobs are a myth. Yeah, I'm sure dicks are counterintuitive to people who don't have them. Well, they are to us for a while.
Starting point is 00:21:28 Right. That's true. Yeah, that's true. Penises are so silly. They really are pretty ridiculous. They're so ridiculous. I'm so embarrassed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:37 Embarrassed that I like them. Yeah. I remember I had that conversation with one of my friends in high school. Thank God women are attracted to us. Right. Whatever that is inside, Thank God women are attracted to us. Right. Whatever that is inside, thank God, because we look ridiculous. Yeah. I think the flaccid penis is a real, it's God's way of checking our ego.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Yes. Yeah. Just being like, you think you're cool? Okay, cool. Check this out. It grows, it grows, it grows. Yeah, exactly. Hold on, just hold on.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Let me just kind of give it a thwap. Wait, wait, let me thwap it, let me thwap it. And everyone knows, that's the funniest thing about flaccid penises. Everyone knows that they change shapes when it's time to perform, but we still judge each other on that shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:21 That's crazy. As someone who's seen too many penises, growers and showers are real because I have also been with gentlemen where I'm like, ooh, this is gonna be a good time. And then their penis really does just get as harder but the same size.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Yeah, just stands up. Which was like, oh, that's a letdown. That's a letdown. Just stands up. It was a little bit of a letdown because I'm used to the grower mechanics where it's like, oh, this is going to get big. But that one I was like, oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:22:50 It's still going? Are you going to pass out if we do this? All right. We're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. Defne Caruana Galizia was a Maltese investigative journalist who on October 16, 2017, was murdered. There are crooks everywhere you look now. The situation is desperate.
Starting point is 00:23:19 My name is Manuel Delia. I am one of the hosts of Crooks Everywhere, a podcast that unhearts the plot to murder a one-woman Wikileaks. Daphne exposed the culture of crime and corruption that were turning her beloved country into a mafia state. And she paid the ultimate price. Listen to Crooks Everywhere on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do,
Starting point is 00:24:26 like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career. Without sacrificing your sanity or sleep.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is Season 4 of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy
Starting point is 00:25:28 to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better.
Starting point is 00:25:44 This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. Starting point is 00:26:15 Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them. Why is that? Just come here and play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is braggadocious. She is unapologetically black.
Starting point is 00:26:33 I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better listen to the making of a rivalry caitlin clark versus angel reese on the iheart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast And we're back. And so an article in, I think it was Bloomberg, yeah, revealed that Google execs have given us the answer
Starting point is 00:27:12 to what I think of as sort of the Lunchables test because I first heard about it when I was reading up on the invention of Lunchables and how executives who invented Lunchables and designed them would never dream of feeding them to their kids. And so it turns out in this article. I like them.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Yeah, no, they're good. They're just designed to addict children. Remember those pink discs of meat? Oh, yeah. Don't call it ham. Yeah, I get them after shows sometimes when I'm on the road. They're fun. Because I'm just like, this isn't terrible.
Starting point is 00:27:49 It is. Yeah, it is. Damn it. Yeah, it's really bad. I still make homemade ones with just a block of cheese and a pretzel or something. So we're saying the same is true for YouTube. The same is true for YouTube. Thank you for getting me back on track.
Starting point is 00:28:08 Yeah, so four employees at Google told a journalist, writing about the journalist was doing a report on just how difficult it is proving for Google to get YouTube under control and to wrestle their algorithm back into a shape where it does not promote hatred and white supremacy. And some people in Google are hoping that they will just spin YouTube off into a separate company because they think it's really bad for Google's brand. Yeah, it's turning out to be one of the more problematic social networks, even though Facebook
Starting point is 00:28:47 kind of was the one that came out of the gate hot after 2016. Turns out YouTube is really a fucking mess. That sucks. So anyways, this reporter was talking to a bunch of Google execs, and the four that he asked said they, quote, privately admitted that they don't let their kids watch YouTube unsupervised and said the sentiment was widespread at the company. So just something to keep in mind. I mean, I have had that. My son watches YouTube sometimes.
Starting point is 00:29:18 And then one day I walked in and he was watching. And he just put it down real quick. It was just like cartoons he was watching, but they get like a little, they start. Yeah. He's watching one where they started kissing. Oh. And I mean, like he knew, you know, it made him feel funny. Right.
Starting point is 00:29:34 And then he felt like he was like, he was worried he was in trouble and I was like, no, this isn't your fault. Right. I was like, you're just watching a thing. I was like, this is, I was like, but you have to be careful on this, on the internet, it's not all fun. Right. And like, he just didn't go on YouTube for a long time
Starting point is 00:29:50 after that. And I was like, that's fine. But now, cause it was harmless what he was doing. Right. And the way he felt inside is normal too, so they're taking advantage of that stuff too. Yeah. Huh. I didn't realize there was so much such a radical presence on too. Yeah. Huh. I didn't realize there was so much
Starting point is 00:30:05 such a radical presence on YouTube. Yeah. I don't know. For whatever reason, it seems like any vast community online seems to find a way to start, you know, the authoritarians come in and authoritarians always tend to like
Starting point is 00:30:24 bend things toward the right. And authoritarians have a way of dominating online communities, especially when they get really, really big. Because I watch embarrassing things on YouTube, but like, it's not that. Like I fell down a wormhole of like videos
Starting point is 00:30:41 that talk about how fast food chains failed in foreign countries and i was like super embarrassed but it was like why kfc didn't work in the philippines oh interesting and that i was embarrassed what this episode is about tell us why it turns out that in the philippines street food culture uh is really vital to how people interact and the prices that- And their economy. Right? Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:09 And the way that, like, the prices that a street food person can offer, like, even a fast food chain can't compete with. Yeah. And the quality of the taste and stuff, too. Right. You probably came to YouTube with probably a little bit more knowledge than the typical, you know, child comes to YouTube. And they're more of a blank slate. Sure.
Starting point is 00:31:30 If your only thing is you're going in and you're like, well, I want to know about 9-11. What happened on 9-11? Like, that's a thing that people talk about a lot. And three levels deep, you're going to get to 9-11 truthers. Oh, yeah. And 9-11 truthers oh yeah 11 truthers way Alex Jones Alex Jones leads to you know white supremacists so it's yeah white supremacist leads to fear right and fear of course leads to the dark side well
Starting point is 00:31:56 that's right these are just companies that started out as a cool idea to bring people together and then they realize like oh we have to make money right and the owners of the company i think are we're all like oh my god we're making money we're making yes wait how did this happen i don't know and then they were like fuck yeah then three years later we're like oh it's because we're funding terrorists in idaho or some shit you know yeah the algorithm takes into account basically uh how long you stay on a video and you know there's a way to edit reality together into some really misleading shit and that tends to be the more interesting angle is uh conspiracy theories over what what actually
Starting point is 00:32:42 happens so scary yeah it's, I don't know. What's the answer? Yeah, because I mean, I just think it's important to keep in mind that these people know better than us. Energy executives knew about global warming before anybody else. They knew about climate change in the 80s because they were doing the research. It was imperative for their company to continue to make money that they know the truth about climate change.
Starting point is 00:33:10 I think a similar thing happens with every company and they know the downsides of their product before anybody else does. Yeah. That's why Shane Smith sold Vice to Fox before everybody found out it was kind of hollow. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I have two problems. Okay. I have two points. to Fox before everybody found out it was kind of hollow. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, I have two problems. Okay, I have two points.
Starting point is 00:33:29 Well, I can't fix, I'm trying to think how to fix the bigger problem. As for children who are watching this, I think children will be fine. If a parent is doing their job already, then the kid will be able to watch something like that or have a conversation with the parent who's like, okay, yeah, that's weird. Those people are idiots. I guess what I'm saying is there's no one YouTube video that's going to solitarily corrupt a child. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:55 If the parent is already doing their job raising them with the proper influences outside of YouTube. Right. If your kid is only getting influenced by YouTube, you failed as a parent. Yeah. Obviously, you can't control everything they see, but I mean, I know myself, like growing up, I saw stupid shit on TV or whatever,
Starting point is 00:34:16 and over a cumulative, over a number of experiences, I was able to be like, okay, yeah, that was bullshit. Right. My dad liked Beavis and Butthead, and that letead and that let me know that it wasn't evil and bad for you right the way you also hear everything too do you
Starting point is 00:34:31 know what i mean like this show and my dad as soon as my mom would walk up and be like let's watch this it's so funny he's a high school football coach and teacher so he's like i know these kids right yeah and they're nailing this they're nailing this um all right guys let's move on to the 2020 election explicitly since that last story might affect it in many different ways hopefully not but uh i just wanted to talk about a single tweet that came from uh the twitter account the democrats which is the official account of the DNC. It's also my favorite band. Yes.
Starting point is 00:35:08 The Democrats. The Democrats. Yeah, they rock. Their early shit was pretty good. Yeah. Not really, you know. So the tweet is the official account of the Democratic National Committee. And the tweet is, this is a whole mood. Text boy bye to 43367 to get this exclusive wallpaper.
Starting point is 00:35:31 And it's just a wallpaper with Trump's image in the background. And it just says boy bye 2020 in large letters. And that just made me want to move to a different country. Sure. That is very... It is mega church. Yeah. Grabbing secular culture.
Starting point is 00:35:55 Right. And making it them. It's the young life. It's the young life version of politics. Yes. Yes. It's like the Lord rocks, everyone. Yes. Oh, my God. Oh, no. Yes. Yes. It's like, the Lord rocks, everyone. Yes.
Starting point is 00:36:05 Oh, my God. Oh, no. Yes. Yeah, it's lame. It's just- And it's just- Hire actual gay people to write it for you. Right.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Yeah. Don't. Boy, bye. Yeah, it's performatively cool or hip or woke. It sucks. Yeah. There's a lot of culture vultures right now. We were watching videos before this there's there's a lot of culture vultures right now we were watching videos before this and like there's a lot we're gonna get to that a little later there's a
Starting point is 00:36:30 lot we'll talk about that later but like there's a lot of people picking at the carry-on of the queer legacy yeah um and this is just the latest example of like how do we engage the children i heard a drag queen say this and black people are going i know how's it feel right how's it feel how's it feel to have everything you like appropriated but while also still not receiving jobs credit or money for it right yeah oh it's terrible i get it they're trying to engage kids i get it but i i mean also i think you made this point earlier of like they're really simplifying a systematic oppression. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Well, what you could do if you want to get the youth vote is fucking listen to them. Yeah. And say, hey, what are they actually complaining about and what are their issues? Instead of just pandering to what you think they want to hear and how you think they talk. Right.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Listen to them. Just shut up. Listen to them. This is a group that will inevitably endorse Biden and just a very mainstream center-left Democratic ideal. Because now it's like an odds game. Right. It's like why bet on red 22? I wouldn't even say center left. I don't think that's
Starting point is 00:37:46 even accurate. I think it's very center. Yeah, super center. It's Walmart super center. And we don't need that. Walmart super center. Yes. Yes. Truly. And they want the people who shop there. It's not Target. It's not Target super center. No, that would be a little bit on the left.
Starting point is 00:38:02 We tried Target in 2016 and they said no. Yes. Walmart has better deals on wheat. Yes. But the people, so they're trying to use a not even skin deep appropriation. Sure. Cultural nod.
Starting point is 00:38:17 And just the idea that tonally we're at a place where we should be approaching the trump presidency like uh a fun thing that we can just insult away is just like that like she did in the 2016 election it really reminds me of the 2016 like it's it's really learning like these guys right right yeah uh i wonder if it's like and i don't think this makes it right but i think it's like everyone is so bummed out by the news i wonder if they're trying to engage people in a way that makes them not want to die you know what i mean like that doesn't make it right but maybe that's where it's coming from of like everyone knows we're suffering and people are systematically oppressed and people are in detention centers yes how can
Starting point is 00:39:06 we engage young people maybe it's by being flippant and stupid yeah which isn't right they're just not the ones they they they need to know themselves well enough to realize that we don't want a snarky cute culture from them we want policy and right understanding and engagement with what people are actually concerned about oh that's it that's a good new tweet new policy oh well that's the problem the problem with any of the the the people that are politicians for a career they they just want that position. They want the power, and that's what they're truly fighting for for most of their career.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Right. And so when they get in the position of being in the DNC or being the social media person, they're not trained at that. They're just trying to up their position in this. Yeah, totally. So they get in this position, and they're not good at their job
Starting point is 00:40:07 because they've been playing politics inside this thing right so it's god i mean we're is what i'm saying right you can say what you you want about the right but those dudes are killers yeah right and they're coming in and they're not just like, hey, mom, I'm the head of social media for the DNC now. Right. No, they're like, hey, we're gonna take the heads off of gays now because I'm in charge of Twitter for the RNC. Right.
Starting point is 00:40:35 That's- Yep. Ooh, it's that fear thing. It's the smock your belly thing. Without a doubt it is. Yeah, win with fear. Like fear is greater than respect, all that good stuff. Divide and conquer, too.
Starting point is 00:40:46 The right is very good at that. Fucked up. Because they don't have many causes to divide them. It's just like, we want money and power. Yeah, wedge issues. And the left is like, can everyone be happy? Right. And they're like, yeah, but not as much as me.
Starting point is 00:41:02 Reproductive rights, mama. Okay. Okay. Uh-uh. Honey. What other buzzwords? I honestly hire me. I'll write your flippant tweets. He's great.
Starting point is 00:41:17 Reproductive rights, mama. Freedom the house down boots. You know, I can do this all day. Okay. Yeah, that's unfortunate. Yeah. They probably won't retract it it they'll just be like oops hopefully hopefully they're not just like nailed it nailed it uh but i think i think this is getting enough backlash that they'll just move on to some other poorly thought out strategy truly biden's the man we want to grab our ass.
Starting point is 00:41:46 That's true. Whoa, whoa, whoa. No, no, no. Pull back, pull back, pull back. Oh, man. He's going to be our nominee, right? I feel like that's what's going to happen. Yeah, I think everybody feels that way.
Starting point is 00:42:02 They don't want us to have a real choice. No, no, no. And when you and the family are going to eat food, you're like, what should we eat? Should we eat this super specific cuisine? Or should we go to this sandwich American salads place? If we go to sandwich American salads, everyone's going to be able to eat something. Right.
Starting point is 00:42:25 And not like any of it. Right. Oh, yeah. It's terrible quality. Yes. Yes. The lactose intolerant people are going to be in severe misery, and their health might be endangered. Right.
Starting point is 00:42:36 But that's- I don't even agree with- I think the problem with that metaphor is it's not a specific restaurant it is like no we're the other candidates like biden is that like bland everything and then you've got warren and bernie sanders who are like we have health food yeah yeah we have what will make you better and it tastes it tastes great it tastes better and everyone will like it right and. And people are like, mm. No. He friend with Obama. Right.
Starting point is 00:43:11 He friend. It's like my friend pointing out the other day, he's like, isn't it odd that there's a health food section in the grocery store? Yeah. Yeah, that's a good point. Amazing. Yeah. Other stuff is more death food. Sickness food.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Sickness food. Food that causes chronic illnesses. Fun food. Yeah, exactly. All right, we're going to take another quick break. We'll be right back. Daphne Caruana Galizia was a Maltese investigative journalist who on October 16th 2017 was murdered.
Starting point is 00:43:48 There are crooks everywhere you look now. The situation is desperate. My name is Manuel Delia. I am one of the hosts of Crooks Everywhere, a podcast that unhearts the plot to murder a one-woman Wikileaks. a podcast that unhearts the plot to murder a one-woman Wikileaks. Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or, can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job?
Starting point is 00:44:50 Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do. Like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself.

This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. Listen to The Making of a Rivalry, Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese on the iheart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast and we're back and uh oj simpson had one of the strangest coming out parties on social media since Garth Brooks' Facebook fan page.
Starting point is 00:47:52 I don't know if you guys are familiar with that video. I know. I just want to have a conversation. Yeah. I think we have a quick clip of what that sounded like. Well, I guess it's official. We're now on Facebook. I really wasn't sure about this at the start.
Starting point is 00:48:07 But then a friend of mine said something that just made all kinds of sense. She said, think of it more as a conversation. I like that. But I'm already finding out on my own that it's wiping the walls out between you and me, and I really like that. It allows us into each other's worlds,
Starting point is 00:48:24 or I guess in my case the hotel room. When I think about things I want to post, I want to post cool stuff. Slick stuff. Neat stuff. But most of the stuff I'm going to post is going to be raw stuff like this. This is just who I am.
Starting point is 00:48:40 That's so weird. So if this is truly a conversation then I say let's have a conversation. All right. Stop it. Make him stop saying that literally made me nauseous. And I'm not kidding. It's so weird. You have to watch it because his delivery is also among the more affected. Like he,
Starting point is 00:48:58 he gives a performance that suggests that he is like trying to imitate a pickup artist trying to imitate a pickup artist trying to fuck the camera type thing. It's a false sincerity on a level of like. It is so next level. Of like bad youth pastor trying to sleep with like a 17 or 18 year old. Yes.
Starting point is 00:49:20 Well it's official. Yes. I remember when it came out, I was like, I just cry laughing. Because I was like, that's always been I remember when it came out, I was like, I just cry laughing. Because I was like, that's always been my suspicion about that guy. He's trying to fuck everybody's aunt at all times. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:33 That's what he's trying to do. Just like a little overweight. He's like, you know, I think you're special. And you know stunning women have thrown themselves at him. Yeah, and he's like, no, I don't like bones. I'm from Oklahoma. I'm Garth. By the way,
Starting point is 00:49:47 I think your special was far more convincing than anything in that video. I don't think he's capable of sincerity. I think he... No. You were too attached.
Starting point is 00:49:57 You were too emotionally available. He's trying to make an arena feel special. Right. And I'm trying to make you feel special. Disconnected. He hasn't been around somebody
Starting point is 00:50:04 who's said an honest word to him in a decade. Nope. And so it's just, that's what that looks like. It's really worth watching. I think it's going to be in museums in the future. People should watch Garth Brooks' first Facebook fan page video. Well, that's what you should show to your handlers when you're hiring them. I don't want this.
Starting point is 00:50:23 If I ever look like this, you're not fired. I'm't want this. If I ever look like this, you're not fired. I'm going to have someone murder you. And just so you know, you signed a contract that says that's okay. That's okay. You're hired. All right.
Starting point is 00:50:39 Today belongs to OJ, guys. So OJ joined Twitter. Ooh, that's a good Tropicana. That's a good Tropicana ad. My God, you are like a, you are an advertising genius. So OJ joined Twitter literally days, a couple days after the 25th anniversary of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.
Starting point is 00:51:01 I didn't know that. He announced that the account will be a lot of fun and that he's got. He also said he's got some things to straighten out. And then when somebody asked him about the account, like a media outlet was like, is that really you? He was like, yeah, I've got some things to get off my chest or something like that. So this man who got away with murder in the most public way possible has revenge in his heart.
Starting point is 00:51:29 He's coming to what would seem on the surface to be the luckiest anyone has ever gotten ever. He's pissed off. Well, it cost him a lot. Sure. Yeah, that's true. That's true. He was like, it cost him a lot of money
Starting point is 00:51:44 and he didn't get to be oj the way he was oj yeah you would just think that having that reality of murdering people in the back of his mind like wow that looked like it hurt like i don't i owe a debt to i don't think universe i think that guy if you i watched that video because i'm a human person and I was very interested. But he just, there's no, and it may be very, very deep in there, like right before he falls asleep every night, he's like, oh, this shit is crazy.
Starting point is 00:52:14 Right. Yeah. But every other instance you see him, it is not, it just feels like he feels like, I didn't do this. He's convinced himself over time he didn't do this. The inside of his brain looks like the Chernobyl control room. Did you guys see that?
Starting point is 00:52:31 Yeah, there's just papers flying everywhere. Dyatlov is like, it's fine. The core is not exploded. And everyone else is like, guys, the core exploded. We can all acknowledge the core. Right, but Dyatlov. Those lights blinking everywhere, the warning lights. Well, and he's still not wrong about certain stuff. Like, he's crazy famous.
Starting point is 00:52:49 Right. And the consequences for his actions weren't that severe fame-wise. Yeah. Right. Like, he's still in Florida mixing it up every day. We just don't hear about it. And I think that is his revenge right now, every day we just don't hear about it and I think that is his revenge right now is like he's gonna just start tweeting how fun his life is right so
Starting point is 00:53:11 his lawyer came out and said that OJ will be using Twitter to try to control his own narrative countering rumors and misleading statements like President Trump. And this is the first time that it's been explicitly connected. But this is a thing that kind of media theorists have been calling out a lot is that, you know, back in 2016, we got all this OJ material. We got American Crime Story, The People vs.j simpson we got uh that incredible documentary on espn about oj and his trial in the aftermath um and his gay dad right and uh neither here nor there but but people have pointed out that the trial is kind of a precursor to the Trump presidency, not just like the media circus aspects of both, but also the exploitation of communities that
Starting point is 00:54:11 were oppressed or believe themselves to be oppressed in order to further their own self interest. And then I also think there's just something about both where there was this 24 hour media feeding frenzy where they were able to create an alternate reality if you were just paying attention to that, just paying attention to this one version of reality. You're seeing these supposedly outwardly sane people just saying a thing that isn't true, but the human brain isn't true but you're not
Starting point is 00:54:45 the human brain isn't used to that and so it creates a separate version of truth I guess and like a fiction book versus a non-fiction book right but it's brought to you with all the trappings
Starting point is 00:55:01 of non-fiction he has he just has like mega CTE right he's just like his Brought to you with all the trappings of nonfiction. Right. Yeah. He just has like mega CTE, right? He's just like his brain's all scrambled up. Well, I think it's that, I think American, not even Americans, human beings throughout history, we are fascinated with people that don't admit fault. And if you're doing it at that level, I'm going to tune in every fault. Right. And if you're doing it at that level, I'm going to tune in every time.
Starting point is 00:55:28 Right. Because we do want to see when they break. Because all humans, all of us, our whole life, we see where that line is, and then where our moral compass falls is usually where we're like, all right, you got me. I did this.
Starting point is 00:55:42 I'm tired of this. Mm-hmm. But these are two men who are just like, nope, didn't do it. Right. And they're like, no, but we caught you doing this, this, and this. Like, nope, didn't do it. And they're doing it on television for all of us to watch. And they're like, this is the biggest, this is like not just your mom or the principal.
Starting point is 00:56:01 The world is trying to catch you. Right. And you're going, nah, I didn't do it. Yeah. And everybody's like, I kind of like this. Because I think, yeah, I do think, and this I think is similar, like we're obsessed with people who are like disasters and then rehab themselves more than people who are just good the whole time.
Starting point is 00:56:20 Right. Like we're like, oh, can you believe it? Chris Brown is sorry that he was a piece of fucking shit yeah and it's like no no no but wait but what about this artist this artist is very talented anthony hamilton yeah he's been amazing r&b singers they were just and i don't even know his name exactly so there you go right it's just like we're not interested in people who are just good we're interested in like journeys and like people learning or not learning from their mistakes which is so fucking it sucks well there needs to be a comic book with the talent
Starting point is 00:56:52 and i think that's where the victim hook i'm and i don't know if this is just a weird theory i have where it's like where there's a currency in victimhood now that there never was and i think a lot of that had to do with the talent contest where American Idol was the first real one where it was like, there's eight amazing singers who should have their own careers, but we only get to pick one. Let's find out whose life was the saddest, they win.
Starting point is 00:57:19 Yeah. And then we give credit to whatever that is. And so now everyone's like, yeah, I'm good at this, but my dad beat the fuck out of me. But you're not even good at the thing. Right. No, but my dad was mean. So I get to be a singer now.
Starting point is 00:57:36 But you can't sing. You're a dad. Dad. Yeah. And I mean, this HuffPost article pointed out that when you don't have much to lose, that seems to be the point that both OJ and Trump were at, where they felt like they didn't have much to lose. And so they were able to just break free from what they call the shackles of objective truth
Starting point is 00:58:00 and your own past. What? We used to call objective truth, truth. Yeah. Right. What? We used to call ejected truth, truth. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Another reason that he might be coming to Twitter now is that Ron Goldman's sister,
Starting point is 00:58:15 Kim, just launched a podcast where she talks about how OJ killed her brother. She never names him. She just calls him the killer. Yeah. She just calls him the killer. Yeah. She just calls him the killer the whole time. That's amazing. Yeah. But she has,
Starting point is 00:58:31 she was on our favorite show on the Daily Zeitgeist, Fox and Friends, where she wondered aloud if her podcast would cause some sort of break in him. Because the last time somebody did a like there was a book that was the goldman's version of things was uh if i did it in 2007 where they changed it so that it just said i did it in big letters on the cover and that book was published the day before simpson committed armed robbery in Las Vegas
Starting point is 00:59:05 that caused him to spend nine years in jail. So she's wondering if her releasing a podcast is going to cause him to lose his shit in some way. The telltale heart. Yeah. I can't believe he's alive. It's really weird. Truly.
Starting point is 00:59:22 I've heard multiple people say that, that it's just weird that O.J. Simpson is alive. He's really weird. Truly. I've heard multiple people say that, that it's just weird that OJ Simpson is alive. He's just out there. He murdered people and got away with it. Basically, everybody knows it. Everyone knows it.
Starting point is 00:59:37 I'll say it again. It's just like Casey Anthony. We know she did it. The evidence is insurmountable, but they fucked up they fucked up and they like, they took too big of a swing. Right. They were like, we want to, you know, they prosecuted. Well, she also had that crazy sickness we're talking about. Have you heard that story about her saying she worked at this place and then taking the detectives to that place?
Starting point is 01:00:00 Ooh, Zanny. Yeah, she said Zanny the nanny. She said a lady named Zanny was her nanny. And then. But that one made more sense. The one that was the craziest. Which, by the way, it doesn't sound like it makes any sense. Well, it turned out to be Xanax.
Starting point is 01:00:15 Yes, and it was a made-up person. Right. And then she took him to like a studio of some kind? She told people that she worked at Universal Studios. Yes, yes, yes, yes, studios. And then went there and said, hey, I work with a detective and somebody else and walk through. And people were looking at her weird. And she was just waving at people while she's walking through the cubicles and got to the end of a walkway.
Starting point is 01:00:39 Yeah. Of a hall that was just dead end. Dead end. And she turned around and she's like, I don't actually work here. I just made this up. Yeah. And they were and they were like whoa wait what is that disease that is that's that narcissism like where you're like i will just lie to get out of whatever and i'll find a reason that's that narcissism it's like a break with reality yes i'll find a reason while i'm walking them through and come up with a new lie of why they don't know who I am. Because the world doesn't revolve around you.
Starting point is 01:01:09 And at a certain point, you either have to come to terms with that fact or just be like, I don't believe that fact. Yeah, I'm going to just continue to exist in a world where I create my own reality. I love the thing that she just keeps like, oh, they built a wall here that wasn't here. Yeah, the ability of the human mind to hey Teresa can you get the guy who knocks down walls I don't know you where's my office Teresa that's not my name that's my assistant uh I'm the CEO of this company uh anyways uh OJ's uh appearance on Twitter didn't have anything to do with father's day even though it coincided with father's day although his second his son was like yay yeah the best gift he could have given us yeah uh unreal his second tweet was he was like oh while it's father's day i just want to call out that uh i am not courtney kardashian father. I never had sex with her mom.
Starting point is 01:02:06 I wasn't in there like that. Was anyone saying that? No, Kris Jenner said that she had sex with him. Yeah, I think she did. She's wild. And then OJ's like, no, I didn't. Yeah. Nope.
Starting point is 01:02:20 Anyways, another tweet that happened on Father's Day came from Bill Cosby. I wish I could just see the text that Kim sent her. Right. After she said I had sex. Or anyone sent her. She's like, why? Why, Mom? Mom, we're doing fine.
Starting point is 01:02:34 We don't need this. Shut the fuck up, Mom. Jesus. Okay, sorry. You were going to say. Sorry, I wanted to just note that another sufferer of this disease, Bill Cosby. I think fame is really good at exacerbating this disease. But he is in prison, obviously, but he was able to get his lawyer to tweet for him.
Starting point is 01:02:56 Hey, hey, hey, it's America's dad. I know it's late, but to all of the dads, it's an honor to be called a father. but to all of the dads, it's an honor to be called a father. So let's make today a renewed oath to fulfilling our purpose, strengthening our families and communities. So, you know, more of the sort of lecturing that caused Hannibal Buress in the first place to be like, you're a rapist. Like, dude, chill out.
Starting point is 01:03:21 Yeah. I mean, I saw him, I mean, he's always been like this. I saw him in Seattle probably eight or nine, ten years ago. Probably longer than that now if I think about it. But I was like three rows back. And he does a bit. He's wearing department store sweatpants, Crocs, and a T-shirt tucked in. We paid $150.
Starting point is 01:03:44 Yeah. You know, first, I noticed that. It's a very nice Benora Hall. It's very nice in Seattle. And then 10 minutes into his act, he goes into the bit about kids today don't dress right. They need to wear a suit and tie. They need to pull their pants up.
Starting point is 01:04:01 And it was so hard for me not to be like, motherfucker, you got sweatpants on. Yeah. I paid $150 to see you. Yeah, that's a bummer. Yeah. But that's the disconnect. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:12 That kind of where you're like, dude. Yeah. Just don't do that bit. I mean, also, when you're that damaged of a narcissist, I'm sure it's just very easy for you to be like, okay, people were mad at me, but now they're cool with me. No, we're mad.
Starting point is 01:04:30 We're going to stay mad. I thought a father's date, it is insane. Someone who was so widely loved and whose television show was integral to a lot of people's development as young people is now deleted and cancelled. By the way, that whose television show was integral to a lot of people's development
Starting point is 01:04:45 as young people is now deleted and canceled. By the way, that post ended with the telltale sign of break from reality, just a flurry of hashtags. Hashtag far from finished and hashtag America's favorite dad. Far from finished. Yep. What does that mean? Again, just like OJ was like
Starting point is 01:05:06 I got some things to straighten out Far from finished Very easy to read as a threat Also disturbing detail from this story Cosby reportedly has been decorating his cell With posters of Megan Fox Megan Markle Beyonce
Starting point is 01:05:21 And Kris Jenner I really wanted it to all be Megans It's a wide group I wanted it to all be Megans. It's a wide group. I wanted it to be all Megans. Just once you start with Meghan Markle and Meghan Fox, I was like, come on. This is when I brought in Meghan McCain. He was like, no. No.
Starting point is 01:05:36 But he's been Meghan. I can't think of another Meghan. He's been trading snacks for the pictures of the women. So, you women. So, you know. Well, he's staying true.
Starting point is 01:05:47 Yeah. Hopefully, he's pulling a Shawshank and tunneling his way out because the only other option is that he's jerking off to it and I don't want that to happen. I thought he was blind. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:58 I think he's mostly blind. Like, legally blind. Really? But not like, opaque, complete darkness blind. You think they just told him that was who the pictures are?
Starting point is 01:06:08 It's like Charles Barkley. Jerking off with the J and the L-O and the boobop. He sucks. He really loves Charles Barkley now, and he's just like, ugh. Oh my God. We told him that was Beyonce. If Bill Cosby came out as queer. Oh, God. We told him that was Beyonce. If Bill Cosby came out as queer. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Oh, didn't Roseanne come out as queer and no one cared? Well, she's always came out as like, she has schizophrenia and multiple personalities. So when she comes out as queer, like which one? Yeah, who? Yeah, which one of you? And she's like, Rosie, not Anne. New Year.
Starting point is 01:06:43 New Year, who dis? Right. Yeah, which one of you? And she's like, Rosie, not Ann, though. New Year. New Year, who dis? By the way, schizophrenia and multiple personality are not the same thing. Well, but that is... She might have... One of her personalities might have schizophrenia. That's true. Bill Cosby sucks. All right, we did want to check in with a Taylor Swift video
Starting point is 01:07:03 that is setting the internet abuzz. I don't know what it's doing to the internet. A fire, a flame. Yeah, a flame. I listened to the song and immediately both liked it and thought it was overtly borrowing from this Knife song, Heartbeats. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 01:07:26 And DJ Dan all thought it was borrowing from that Sunflower song by Post Malone and Sway Lee. Okay. And he actually put the Post Malone and Sway Lee song over top the Taylor Swift song, and it sounds great. It sounds like basically they're different parts of the same song. So we're going to play a little bit of that. Oh. And he didn't It don't matter what you say This beat is dope
Starting point is 01:08:22 Just keep on doing this Exactly The beat is dope But Just keep on doing this. Exactly. The beat is dope, but it's not like a remix of that song. It doesn't acknowledge any debt to that song. And he didn't pitch it up or nothing has been manipulated. He just took one song and lined it, lined it up with the other song. So it's not the most original song, but it is kind of the first song where we're seeing sort of an activist streak from Taylor Swift. And the video is very Pride themed.
Starting point is 01:08:59 Yes, there's a lot of queer icons in it. God, I can't wait till I'm like part of the queer Illuminati. I can't wait till I'm just like the NPH where they're just like, they just call you when like they're doing something gay and they're like do you want to come be gay in a thing? And you're like, yeah, great. I'm sure it pays too much. But yeah,
Starting point is 01:09:16 there's a lot of queer people in it. There's drag queens, there's RuPaul. Okay, here's my whole thing on this. It's kind of, you know what, it's kind of like, it kind of ties back into my opinion on like Trash Cereal and stuff like that. It's like, we could fight it or we could sit back and let it happen.
Starting point is 01:09:33 This is going to happen. This song is going to happen this summer. You could fight it or you could let it happen. Just let it ride. Let it do the good it's gonna do. And just ignore the bad that, because I think someone, this bad that cause I think someone this is my
Starting point is 01:09:46 I think someone came to Taylor and was like yo you trying to do this Madonna shit like you know that she real cool with the gays right right and then Taylor was like
Starting point is 01:09:57 oh excellent yeah excellent excellent yeah I'm gonna look my new album will look like
Starting point is 01:10:04 Lisa Frank did too much cocaine. Billy Wayne and Anna this morning, both came in and separately said the same thing that they think Taylor Swift is an AI program, which I think there's actually like her parents, Billy Wayne, you were pointing out were hedge fund people. They're Wall Street people. They're hedge fund millionaires, yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:29 And those people's entire process is to create algorithmic learning to figure out how to game and beat complex systems. So, I don't know. And then they were like, this child investment we made has made us no money. Right. And she was like, I like music. And they're like, excellent. Yeah. We'll move to Nashville.
Starting point is 01:10:50 We will corrupt the system. But I think the thing you guys are responding to or what I was kind of getting there is like, even the pride stuff is completely devoid. Like, it's a bunch uh signifiers and cultural touch points but there's not a lot of humanity like that is involved like you don't get the humanity of the people uh that she's bringing into co-star in her video and oh that happens all the time right like drag queens they also drag queen just got ripped into a Madonna video that of course did poorly.
Starting point is 01:11:29 But a lot of gay people get dragged into these things. It's funny that Madonna's turning into the Wicked Witch of the West. I enjoy it. I've never been a fan. I just feel like she keeps writing. She's at the crap table and she refuses to cash out. It's like, cash out, girl. She's like, give me Dio's cock yeah wait that's dry okay yes i'm gonna go hip-hop again no um okay so anyway what was i gonna say it was like i i guess
Starting point is 01:11:58 the thing that bums me out as a queer person is like there's a lot of um we as queer people are constantly competing for table scraps and like we like, we're constantly being, like, invited to these big parties as accessories. Right. And, of course, we say yes to it because how many jobs do drag queens get offered? Very few. Especially in entertainment. It's like you're either a drag queen or you're not. Like, so, I guess it bums me out that, like, we will be accessories and then she'll move on to something.
Starting point is 01:12:26 like we will be accessories and then she'll move on to something in a couple in a year or two we'll move on and those drag queens will still be like holding on to their day rate check they got yeah that of course is gone very gone yeah i was sag for a year yeah yeah yeah i don't i guess that's a complicated conversation so it is fucked up this is going to keep happening. As for the immediate future, I think you should just let the song happen because it's decently fun and I don't know. The beat's great.
Starting point is 01:12:50 Who cares? It's a summer pop song. All pop music can mean whatever you want it to if it's good enough pop. Exactly. Yeah. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:12:58 That's why music is better when you're young. Yeah. Because you don't think about it. Music can start getting weird jealous to the words. Right. Yes. And you don't feel like you're having a better time yeah music didn't start getting weird jealous to the words right
Starting point is 01:13:05 yes and you don't doesn't bother you that this has happened before yeah I didn't even know her and Katy Perry
Starting point is 01:13:13 had a feud oh yeah that's another that's the real headline guys is that her Taylor Swift
Starting point is 01:13:21 and Katy Perry have made up and none of us know that knew that they had a feud. It's big news, Mono. It's been a pleasure having you. Where can people find you? Oh, you can find me online at my name,
Starting point is 01:13:38 at Mono Agapian. You can follow any of my stupid Instagram accounts. I do a cereal tasting thing now because that's the future called Spoon Me. And I have a Patreon with Betsy Sodaro called We Love Trash. And I do a drag race podcast over at HeadGum that is currently changing names,
Starting point is 01:14:03 but follow me and you'll get to know all about how our drag chatting journey is evolving. All right. Awesome. Yeah, all that stuff. I like drag queens because they're fun and they can fight. Right? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:14:18 It's like all the pomp and circumstance that's really fun, and then there's like, oh, they can also fist fight you. Yeah, they get mean. Louisville, Kentucky is where I learned all about the drag scene. Ooh, that's good. A lot of pageant queens there. Yes. Oh, really?
Starting point is 01:14:31 Yeah. I was a partier doing comedy. And this gay comedian's like, do you want to have fun tonight? I do. And we did. And Tina Turner brought us home. It was real sweet. Billy Wayne, where can people find you?
Starting point is 01:14:46 BWDtour.com is where all my dates are. I'm in Springfield, Missouri this week at the Blue Room Comedy Club. And then I will be in Comedy Connection in Providence, Rhode Island in July. But just Google Billy Wayne Davis, all that shit comes up. Mano, I forgot to ask you, is there a tweet you've been enjoying? There is. Just recently, Nicole Byer tweeted about breaking a toilet.
Starting point is 01:15:10 Okay. She broke a toilet in Chicago and she tweeted about it and she just, of course, had the best sense of humor about it. She apparently got covered in toilet water because it like broke and tipped over. So she got like covered in toilet water because it like broke and tipped over. So she got like covered in toilet water
Starting point is 01:15:27 and still performed that night at the HeadGum Podcast Festival Dealey. And it's, I love Nicole so much. So deeply. And she's the best person to have that happen to. I know no one else would
Starting point is 01:15:43 take such a an interesting life moment with uh and share it stride and share it awesome make it awesome make it human um and just laugh at how silly this whole thing is and billy wayne is there a tweet you've been enjoying yes uh this very funny comic named alex falcone. He lives in Portland. He's a funny dude. He tweeted, when you die, people's memories of you will live on forever. Like the lady I saw walk into a coffee shop last week, fill a water glass with cream, and then drink the whole thing. She's probably dead now, but I can't stop thinking about her. Perfect tweet.
Starting point is 01:16:22 That is great. And a tweet I've been enjoying, Paul F. Tompkins tweeted, every time you don't see a rainbow, God is considering grounding the entire world again. And Elvis Presley tweeted me, can I get a Big Mac? Employee, sir, this is a Burger King. Me, sorry, can I get a Big Mac, your majesty? And you can find me on Twitter at Jack underscore O'Brien.
