Listen to Hungry for History on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. short show title um anyway shout out to the short show title king johnny davis and his wonderful family uh i'm jack that's miles this is what is trending this afternoon uh as we head into the
Starting point is 00:02:35 weekend i am not drunk people have asked me on multiple occasions this week if i'm drunk on the uh on the trending episode just like no man i'm just like no it's like when we recorded like nine million things i've been on six trillion calls and trying to yeah yeah and on top of that you got you got the young ones you got to keep your eye on i got a sick youngin the funny thing is i'm actually drunk and no one said anything i know i because i'm just living that life nobody ever accused me of being drunk when I was actually drunk. That's when I had my shit together. Did you?
Starting point is 00:03:10 Yeah. Okay. That's right. That's right. You'd never know. That's right, bro. You should have seen me, dog. You'd be like, this guy is A-okay.
Starting point is 00:03:21 He's A-O-C. All right. Let's talk about this. This is a story that we've had on the doc all week that I wanted to talk about. And since this is the last episode of the week, let's just do it. Let's get into it. Dump it. Let's talk it. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is being remade as a drama.
Starting point is 00:03:38 There's not a whole lot to report other than that's happening. Somebody made a viral video. Will Smith saw it. And the dude's name is morgan cooper who made it he's like a cinematographer who just made it look really dope and like moody and like a you know like it could be a oscar uh caliber movie and so yeah it's just a good really smart way to get a project off the ground. We'll see how it turns out. But it made me wonder, like, what are some, like, genre-switching reboots that you would want to see?
Starting point is 00:04:14 Oh, I would love to see Breaking Bad as a full-blown comedy. Like, just completely, like, ignoring the reality of it all. Like, I'd say, say like whoa this this would be a cartoon yeah like a ridiculous cartoon because it was already like walk this line but like and there's there's obviously like moments of humor in it but like to be like we're writing it as a comedy thing would be interesting yeah or even seinfeld as a drama uh because to have to take the minutiae yeah right like by getting that thing where like i want to see like how bad jerry's life could actually get if you played it real
Starting point is 00:04:52 right and like the people around him and like how he's dealing with that i think would be another i don't know wacky thing yeah follow costanza as like a drama like oh my god and like his like strained parental relationships like really playing that out like and you know like Kramer's just a broken man oh yeah a shattered husk of a man so like really getting into that um I feel like would be I think that's the thing it's like most comedies would be easy to be like dramas because at the end it's almost like the brilliance of a good comedy is like we can take like regular people problems and find like the humor in it or like or we can lean the fuck in yeah i was trying to think of
Starting point is 00:05:35 like my favorite like south park as like a forrest gump meets parker lewis can't lose type thing where it's like their secret they're like this small town is like secretly driving the culture like they got these like evil genius type people I was also thinking Saved by the Bell would be a pretty dope like supernatural
Starting point is 00:05:58 like superhero thriller type thing a guy with just the greatest superpower and you know it'd actually be good as like a like an actual comedy what's that uh brooklyn 99 all right that's just a bad joke hey i wonder what they're gonna do brooklyn 99 aren't bad to be honest i know i know that's why i'm like it's not a good joke because a lot of people like it and i think i and i from what i've seen it's okay i'm just curious what their existential dilemma is in that room because they're like what do we do with our cop show now
Starting point is 00:06:29 right uh robert trump is trending for some reason that's the president's brother uh i don't i don't care about these he's sick he's in the hospital but like you know well you're like i don't care what are you gonna do i don't like there's a lot of sick people uh not not all of them are related to the person who's responsible for them being sick uh i don't know if he what he's sick with i don't i aggressively don't i don't know man just it's like trending i don't know makes me mad oh there's no way it's like in a every time you every time you read a story involving the trump family it never involves empathy no um so like when i even this like i get it you're like i don't know dude that name actually makes me really
Starting point is 00:07:18 upset yeah so i'm just not even gonna read about it but you know i don't i don't wish anything ill if you i don't wish anyone anything right but also i'm not going to read about it, but I don't wish anything ill. I don't wish anyone anything ill. But also, I'm not trying to hear about it either. That's right. Let's talk about the Blazers instead. They're going to do an NBA play-in game against the Grizzlies.
Starting point is 00:07:38 That's wild. The Phoenix Suns went undefeated and didn't even get into the playoffs. The Blazers, which I wanted to see Phoenix first, the Blazers, because they've got the two hottest players in the league right now with... From a look standpoint. Yeah, just like so hot.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Just scorching. The scorching looks of Damian Lillard and the other young man from the Phoenix Suns, whose name I'm drawing a blank on from Kentucky anyways. Come on, Jack. Do it. I can't. Come on.
Starting point is 00:08:14 I don't know, man. Fuck. This is telling you. I'm not drunk, man. Phoenix Suns. Hot guy. Guard. Hot.
Starting point is 00:08:32 Hot. The hot one. Dan Marley. That's what Google told me. You mean Devin Booker? Thunder Dan. That's who I mean, of course. Who?
Starting point is 00:08:44 Dev. Dev Books. Debby Bookie. Yeah. uh you mean devin booker thunder dan that's who i mean of course oh dev dev debbie debbie bookie uh yeah that that would have been dope to see anyways it's still gonna be dope to watch uh damian lillard because yeah he's just on another planet right now i just you know uh even though i'm like a lifelong laker fan i have a lot of beef with the Blazers, like historically. But over the years, you know, like I really thought B-Roy could have done something. There were moments I was like, I feel like the Blazers actually might be a team I'm going to really like low key. And like, you know, no disrespect to them now, but I feel like I wouldn't feel that bad if I saw them do okay. Unless it's against the Lakers,
Starting point is 00:09:26 but we're, I don't know if we're going to actually show up to the playoffs or not, but we'll see. Anyways, shout out to Damian Lillard, I guess. Michael, hey man,
Starting point is 00:09:42 it's got a lot of Friday, man. Yeah. And the funny thing is like, we have more work to do after this. I know. I know. But we do it for y'all.
Starting point is 00:09:50 I'm going to be. Yeah, then they're going to be like, I think, is J.O. Brian on the Zoom call drunk? He's snoring through this pitch. Yeah, Michael Cohen's trending because he's got a book coming out or the foreword from his book leaked where like there was all kinds of wild ass allegations in it where he's basically just out there being like yeah dude i know him he's a racist he's a predator he's a fucking bully uh everything you believed about him is true there's like references to golden showers at a sex club although not specifically saying that it was trump, but it looks like, you know, whatever,
Starting point is 00:10:26 just more snakes devouring each other in the pit. Yeah, it could easily be his answer to the question, what new shit do I have to say to sell some books around here? Yeah, and he got us a little more. It could be the truth, easily. Well, I think the way he was like, I know the Donald Trump and shady backroom deals the donald trump that's in strip clubs not the one that his family even knows i know the real
Starting point is 00:10:50 one i'm like yeah that's probably true like most homies know their friends dark sides but they don't present outwardly to their loved ones for fear of loss but uh whatever i mean it it's like so not funny now um that i'm like dude i don't honestly just fuck right off man like there's there's so much bigger shit than you like the the dumb shit that we used to laugh at like 2017 and 18 is just not like i i'm sorry they're like half people are dying it's tape every day yeah yeah hilarious great good job hilarious nick cannon is hilarious uh ryan reynolds is trending for some reason yeah he started his own streaming company um and like a brilliant troll move because ryan reynolds likes to fuck with the internet he like came out he was like i got a new platform mint mobile plus uh and he's like and he's like you got to check it out it's
Starting point is 00:11:44 the world's most affordable streaming service and people are like and he's like you got to check it out it's the world's most affordable streaming service and people are like oh okay cool and like it looks like oh wow there's like genres like on this streaming service you get to it the only movie you can watch is his 2003 film foolproof so it's just like just leaves it there and yeah Good move on you I like to see people Do a little Take your time To create a laugh Just be stupid
Starting point is 00:12:08 He got a good team He's got a good team Or maybe He's a very funny dude Who knows Alright Canadians are pretty funny So you know
Starting point is 00:12:16 I don't Shout out to Shout out to Team Reynolds Shout out to that Shout out Vancouver Van City Ryan I think like
Starting point is 00:12:23 That's like his ID name Or whatever Yeah from Vancouver Ah That's why I fuck with Vancouver Come on Canada shout out to that shout out Vancouver Van City Ryan I think like that's like his IG name or whatever yeah from Vancouver ah that's why I fuck with Vancouver come on Canada make me an honorary British Columbian man
Starting point is 00:12:32 yeah that's what y'all is that how you say it or Vancouverite whatever it is I wanna be that you gotta learn man you gotta take the classes
Starting point is 00:12:39 I wanna go to the Christmas market I wanna eat pressed sushi at Miku you know what I mean I wanna do all that. Yeah, there's this Osaka-style Oshi Sushi. It's mostly you get in Osaka, but there's a spot in Vancouver called Miku, shout out Miku, that does the same thing where you basically assemble it in a box,
Starting point is 00:12:57 and then you use the weight to sort of compress it, and then you hit the flame, you take the wild torch on top of the salmon, so it cooks a little bit of the oils in the salmon. If you ever have the chance to get salmon sushi and they can hit it with the torch a little bit, do that. Do that, because it draws out so much of the oils and shit.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Woo! That sounds good. God! That sounds really good. Wait till I'm traveling, bro. Wait till I'm eating. Wow, wow. Good in the neighborhood? Just good in the neighborhood. Of Vancouver? Oh, yeah. All traveling, bro. Wait till I'm eating. Wow. Good in the neighborhood.

Starting point is 00:13:58 All right, then. On a Friday. All right, guys. Have a great weekend. Be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves get some rest with me wash your hands stay inside wear a mask

Hi, I'm Akilah Hughes, and I'm so excited about my new podcast, Rebel Spirit, where I head back to my hometown in Kentucky and try to convince my high school to change their racist mascot, the Rebels, into something everyone in the South loves, the Biscuits. I was a lady rebel. Like, what does that even mean? It's right here in black and white in print. It's bigger than a flag or mascot.
