To, you know, wrap up this week with our last trending episode. I'm Miles. I'm here with Becca Ramos. Hi, Becca Ramos. Hello. My Catholic education is... Birthday Becca Ramos. Hi, Becca Ramos. My Catholic education is... Birthday's coming up. Oh, sorry.
Starting point is 00:01:48 My birthday is coming up, which is normally what I associate Easter with. No, it's Becca's birthday, either during Easter or soon, which is soon. You went from he is risen to she is isn't. She is isn't. No. I was going to say my Catholic education has failed me i forgot the purpose of good friday what do you mean that's the day he was crucified okay that is right because he had three days and then he rises on sunday okay i was just like palm sunday last sunday's
Starting point is 00:02:15 palm sunday yeah and then you got good friday and then he popped up out the cave on or they opened it up like he gone and then he came out like this so yeah i guess i was confused i mean you obviously made the joke in the last episode but yeah i'm like what is good about friday then no yeah that tweet was just like yeah i mean i don't know whatever because like for other people it's like i'm never understanding catholicism for us for us or like you know like like Maundy Tuesday and all that shit. That's Fat Tuesday. It's actually called Maundy Tuesday.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Anyway, I'm not anymore. Well, not anymore. I was indoctrinated as a child, but it wasn't for me because them prayers did not render gifts like I thought they would. Anyway. No, I agree. Let's get into some news. Some trending topics, which are like little gifts of you know know they're
Starting point is 00:03:05 they're high calorie info snacks as they say the people who run the hundred from succession anyway first trend is uh trump t-shirt because right now uh you know there's there's t-shirts being sold by the donald trump campaign and the thing is and like just many people this all has to do with because like before he was going to be arrested or arraigned, you know, people were saying like, oh, man, he's going to get a mugshot. They're like that fucking picture, as they said, was, quote, fuel for a fundraising drive. Other people said it's going to be the the most manly, most masculine, most handsome mugshot of all time. And on Fox, they're like, he's going to be the new Che Guevara with that face. It's going to be iconic.
Starting point is 00:03:46 And you're like, please get the fuck out of here. Anyway, they're so delusional of like what Donald Trump looks like. Like, objectively, he's ugly. You know what I'm saying? You know the swag of any of these people? Yeah. Like outside of all the evil he's done and like the horrid person he is, like he truly is rancid looking like he's never been hot. And his rancid,
Starting point is 00:04:09 the boys of time bomb. Shout out the band rancid. Look, but the thing is there was no mugshot. They didn't take a mugshot because they're like, we're not going to let you, let you have that. Although I think it did come out though,
Starting point is 00:04:20 that there is now disputes about that. His actual height is maybe closer to six, one than the 6'3 that he claims although he told them he was 6'2 when he pulled up anyway despite that there is no mugshot um there's already like mugshot merch popping around and then the campaign itself had their own shirt uh there's a shirt that's 36 dollars um or it's free if you donate 47 dollars and what's so sad is like, they just took one of his like official portraits and then just made it black
Starting point is 00:04:49 and white. They're not even like, y'all didn't even deep fake a mugshot. Like y'all got all this AI shit. It's a little like placard. Yeah. And in that it says, this,
Starting point is 00:04:57 my man is six foot five. Okay. All right. Okay. Don't worry. We're not going to ask. We won't tell. Don't worry.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I want to know what it's like to be that delusional. I would love that type of fantasy mindset. It was. For me, it was called being 19. I guess. As a woman, I think it's just you don't really get that sometimes. Oh, man. It's one of the most common in this country.
Starting point is 00:05:22 I don't know if you get the fantasy. Yeah. I mean, look. you get the fantasy. Yeah. I mean, look at 19, I fucking knew it all. I knew it all. And I was infallible. I think it was more to do with my youth than anything else,
Starting point is 00:05:32 but I knew fuck all. And I still continue to know fuck all. I'm just trying to add little bits here and there. Okay. Next thing that's trending, something more fun, something more lighthearted, especially for those of us that know the power of cannabis um martin zamani is trending because he entered a fifty thousand dollar poker
Starting point is 00:05:50 tournament and he won and he got the six hundred sixty six thousand dollar jackpot that's some demon shit but you know what go on uh and i just want to play this like whole thing there's like a sideline reporter um who was saying like i just spoke with him about like what's going on like how he's why he's doing so on this tournament i just want you to hear this thing because this is he reveals what his secret is to winning a fucking fifty thousand dollar buy-in tournament i talked to martin zimani during the break about the success that he's had at these high roller tournaments against polished opponents and maybe the different approach that he takes his answer for me was very simple two words i'm high king shit i appreciate it what's it like he's like man i'm high that's i don't know they can't really read my eyes at that point
Starting point is 00:06:40 because i'm so faded there's nothing i'm not giving you anything with my face. And I'm sure you're not thinking as maybe stress-induced. You know? You're kind of like, whatever. Or like, that's just where he has to be as a person. And he's just like, I don't even know if it's necessarily helping, but I'm not about to sit at that table not fucking high.
Starting point is 00:07:00 That's just, that's my secret. So, yeah. You know, I guess it is. Maybe it'll be a performance enhancing drug for poker, but definitely not the NBA anymore. They changed that. And then you're talking about those Starbucks drinks. The what the fuck is it called? Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli, Oli oil of ole i couldn't tell uh oleato oleato apparently there's some team members as they're called or workers of starbucks who have been telling tales out of school on reddit and basically
Starting point is 00:07:32 being like uh just to let y'all know um this is one post from someone who worked at a starbucks store quote have you tried them i'm wondering how many people are going to have happen to them what happened to our team half the team tried it yesterday and a few ended up needing to use the restroom if you know what i mean i'm honestly scared to try it because i already have stomach and bowel problems and other people were like yeah we had a similar thing too some people had some uh butt excitement with the drink it's giving leaky gut yeah i don't know uh i don't know if it's like how real it is because i mean i get it you know when who was it oh producer bay was on and saying that like you know oat milk has a bunch of fucking oil in it so it's not like you're actually avoiding it in
Starting point is 00:08:16 other places but i guess it's like when you think of how they're like just doing pumps of it into the drink it just yeah has a different quality to it and maybe the quality the oil you know i don't know yeah but you know as there were people who said oh yeah it was quite literally a very shitty drink for me other people like i love it so you know do what you do someone other person tweeted it's a legit laxative so i guess it's uh it still has some appeal zeitgang can you can y'all go have it and just let me know if y'all are around or if you've had it because i'm not about to try and have you know howard schultz induced diarrhea yeah i'm for sure not gonna try that stuff but no but i will
Starting point is 00:08:59 implore you to do it so i may live vicariously through you um as a brave person would all right let's take another break not even i said that again i did that two two days ago when jack when jack comes back things will be a little more stable and less uh chaotic uh let's take our break uh and come back where we will talk about some more trends right after this. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high-control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand I'm Dr. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. But in a new, hopeful season of my podcast, I'll share what the science really shows, that we're surprisingly more united than most people think. We all know something is wrong in our culture, in our politics, and that we need to do better and that we can do better.
Starting point is 00:10:57 With the help of Stanford psychologist Jamil Zaki. It's really tragic. If cynicism were a pill, it'd be a poison. We'll see that our fellow humans, even those we disagree with, are more generous than we assume. My assumption, my feeling, my hunch is that a lot of us are actually looking for a way to disagree and still be in a relationship with each other. All that on the Happiness Lab. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. along for the ride. Woohoo! That would be me, Devin Simone. And then there's me, Davon Rogers. And we're here to take you behind the scenes of, drumroll please, the Challenge 40
Starting point is 00:11:52 Battle of the Eras. Yes. Each week, cast members will be joining us to spill all of the tea on the relentless challenges, heartbreaking eliminations, and of course all the juicy drama. And let's not forget about the hookups. Anyway, regardless of what era you're rooting for at home,
Starting point is 00:12:08 everyone is welcome here on MTV's official challenge podcast. So join us every week as we break down episodes of the Challenge 40 Battle of the Eras. Listen to MTV's official challenge podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. Mehdi Hassan is trending on Twitter because he, man, he gobbled up Matt Taibbi in an interview. If you don't remember Matt Taibbi, he was once a journalist that people were like, oh, yeah, you're kind of reporting on some interesting stuff about Occupy Wall Street kind of stuff and the banking sector. Then he slowly gone more and more to the right and eventually just had been like, recently, you might know him from all the Twitter files when Elon was like, wait for this next drop. It's going to blow your fucking mind. files when Elon was like wait for this next drop it's gonna blow your fucking mind and Matt Taibbi was like using his whatever credibility out as a journalist to try and prop up these these
Starting point is 00:13:10 allegations from the Twitter files which felt like a big pile of nothing to people but apparently Mehdi Hassan like talked about him on his show and then Matt Taibbi's like you know what dude have me on your show don't just put words in mouth. Why don't you actually hear what I have to say? So Mehdi said, okay, bet, come through. And man, Matt Taibbi, he's clearly, he's not around people that are pressing him because he was so horribly prepared. I'll play a little bit of an interaction here
Starting point is 00:13:37 just so you get an idea. Like the entire 30 minute clip is pretty fascinating because my God, like we were talking about shitty journalists medihasan he pressed his ass like olive oil first press cold press and this matt taibbi was leaking after one specific thing was talking about how he has completely he made this allegation about how this organization like said they flagged 22 million tweets as misinformation and like many sounds like no that's not true like you actually you didn't even read the actual like numbers and the order
Starting point is 00:14:09 in which the information was released that would indicate to you it wasn't this timeline i'll just play a little bit of you so you can hear this part where matt taibbi is clearly like sweating like a kid who has been caught by the fucking teacher uh to make that false claim it's just error after error matt on just this one topic. He said that's an error. But the other ones aren't. Oh. No, no.
Starting point is 00:14:32 22 million came from their own report. Yeah, it came from a report in March. Do you know what the 22 million number is, Matt? Can you tell me? Because we checked. 22 million is the number of tweets about election misinformation that they just mapped how How many tweets were they? The ones they actually flagged to Twitter before the election,
Starting point is 00:14:48 22 million came after the election. It wasn't in the run-up. They flagged 3,000. So you were off by 21,997,000. That's a lot of things. I stand by my story. You stand by what story? You stand by 22 million were flagged in the run-up to the election,
Starting point is 00:15:03 even though that number came in March 2021, which was after the election. OK, maybe please, please. We've already seen enough destruction on this website already. My God. It's his whole face to Matt Taibbi. He's like, like, I'm like, OK, whatever. Like, just like some so frazzled because he like truly does not have anything to say. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:23 He looks so frazzled because he truly does not have anything to say. Yeah. And then he also talked about, he's like, look, bro, because he's talking about, oh, you know how Elon Musk is good for free speech. And he's like, well, what about what's going on in India? Modi makes basically telling, you know, Musk, like, I'm going to censor the fuck out of this website. And Elon Musk's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Cool, cool, cool. And when he comes on, he's like, you said you could be critical of Elon Musk. Why don't you do that right now?
Starting point is 00:15:42 I'll give you the moment to do that right now. He's like, um, I don't feel like that right now i'll give you the moment to do that right now he's like um i don't feel like that right now it's like bro shut up anyway um nice to see journalists pressing people like properly and using like you know their own words to hold them to account um in this case matt taibbi played himself to i guess be one of elon's favorites um speaking of actually terrible people laura loomer who's just a notorious islamophobe uh really someone you don't need to really know about just know that this person is an absolute disgrace to humanity and one of the most hateful people we've seen anyway donald trump apparently has told his team that he wants her to be hired for his campaign. She can't even like she can't even get on most social media sites for the nonsense and like hate speech that she says.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Like and he's like, yeah, that's perfect. Want that on the team? So I think we're getting an idea of what what Donald is, what is what he's thinking. I think they're going to go pedal to the metal with the fucking hate speech because this woman just think of any terrible thing you could say um and she's probably said it so yeah i don't know i don't know what exactly her role is going to be but they said they want her to help just with some kind of campaign role that helps in support of his candidacy that's so bizarre to hire someone for campaign work if they're not really able to tweet much or you know yeah on social media because of how hateful their speech is yeah or that he's just like i need her takes i need her hot takes about muslim people i get it
Starting point is 00:17:17 but i'm like it's not going to give you much press you know what i'm saying yeah i don't i think he's can't literally say anything it's I think he just sees like that. He's like really hate field people, I guess to him appear very enthusiastic and he thinks that's the thing he wants to capture. But I'm like, bro, you already have all the races.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Like you don't, you gotta do much. You don't need any more races. Yeah. Like we saw what we saw, what you did. Like we, we were there.
Starting point is 00:17:43 You know, you proved your credit. Don't worry. The only thing people are worried about is they think you're pro vaccine and you need to you need to set that record straight donald trump um so that'll be man 2024 looks like a fucking cool one maybe um and then finally the star wars celebration is happening right now and they have announced. Okay, look, I know. I just heard you go.
Starting point is 00:18:09 But look, I'm gonna be real. I love Star Wars. I like the original trilogy. I'll watch. I watched all the films. I could only get into some of the shows because that's when shit started coming too fast. Like the show after show, movie after movie. It's why I basically exited the MCU. Because once it was like 19 films to be able to make sense of another one. I was like, movie after movie. It's why I basically exited the MCU. Because once it was like 19 films
Starting point is 00:18:26 to be able to make sense of another one, I was like, come on now. I can't do all this right now. Right, so at this thing, they've announced three new movies and a bunch of new shows and stuff too. And I'm exhausted a little bit and I need some time to ingest each thing as it happens but
Starting point is 00:18:47 i have a feeling they just see the money and they're like yeah yeah we're going for sure and i saw somewhere on twitter the take of they're taking the mcu route you know obviously they're on by disney now yeah so it doesn't surprise me that whoever's on those teams is also like, well, we have just as much IP clout in Star Wars as we do MCU. So, like, why don't we just push this as hard as we can? Just spit it out. So, you know, I am not a big Star Wars person, obviously, by my grunt. You could tell. It's the type of sci-fi that is just, like, so beyond me.
Starting point is 00:19:22 Like, it's just I've never been able to get into it. I don't know what it is about it. I'm just like these monsters and this story and it's just like space Western. And I just, ah, it's just, oh my God,
Starting point is 00:19:33 I'm getting eaten alive in the chat. It's not sci-fi. Then what is it? Super Bruises of Brian. But yeah, I mean the thing, like one thing that is interesting, like there's three new films,
Starting point is 00:19:42 but, uh, Charmaine Obeyed Chinoy, uh, is, is going to also be directing one of the films. That's the one that's going to be starring Daisy Ridley and, or is coming back. is uh interesting like there's three new films but uh charmine obeyed chinois uh is is gonna also be directing one of the films that's the one that's going to be starring daisy ridley and or is coming back i liked and or so i'm like okay i could i could fuck with that but then like
Starting point is 00:19:52 these other ones like i don't the acolyte is another thing they said it's frozen meets kill bill and i'm like the fuck is that too much look people clearly want they're there for everything i'm just i think maybe i'm just getting old, baby. I'm just getting old, baby. I'm happy for the people that aren't burned out by watching so many things. I personally, I have learned about myself that I have leaned more into reality TV as of late because it doesn't make me feel burnt out. It's all bullshit. It all is so, you know, superficial.
Starting point is 00:20:21 It's like, whatever, if you miss an episode, like, it's like all stupid. Yeah. And I just like, can't ingest this much, like high level content. There's not a lore. There's not a lot of lore that you have to familiarize yourself with when you watch Milt Manor.
Starting point is 00:20:35 You know what I mean? Exactly. You know, so, and that's not to say I don't love a high quality movie. I'm into movies more than TV because there is only three hours, you know?
Starting point is 00:20:45 Like it's like, three hours. That's it. I don't. You watching three hour movies? Movies are not like three hours. Let's be real. Movies are like two to three hours now.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Not that I love a three hour movie. I love a good hour and a half movie. Like 90 minutes in and out. But I just like that. It's like start to finish the whole story. One moment. You leave,
Starting point is 00:21:03 you've seen it all. You're in the know yeah i think like you say power to the people that have the attention spans and energy to like get through it but like even now even if i put my star wars fandom aside i'm like i barely i haven't even seen this season of yellow jackets yet you know i haven't seen the rest of last of us i don't have like so many half-baked things i'm trying to get through it just it's a lot is there like a term for this like streaming anxiety like content offering overload anxiety i don't know if there's like a medical like psychological term for it nowadays i'm sure there is like some study going
Starting point is 00:21:36 on but i have hella streaming anxiety like i can't seem to start anything that's like really hyped really right like intense i like basically watch like comedy shit like specials because those are kind of like movies you know they're just like one bit it's over i mean i catch a black lady sketch show love that uh but it's also you know lightweight comedy bits 30 minutes you're in you're out or i'm watching reality tv because the goss is fun or like that's, or documentaries. Like I'm like into the docu series stuff, but outside of that,
Starting point is 00:22:08 I'm like, right. I can't, I can't like my friends want to start beef yesterday. I was like, B what is that? Oh, Netflix.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Right. Yeah. It looks really great. I don't know. I feeling anxious starting it. Like I'm like, yeah, I'm going to get like that Marie Aoki thing where like the people go to poop in the bookstore because there's too many things on offer.
Starting point is 00:22:27 I guess I feel like I open up a streaming app. I'm like, oh, my God, there's not these new shows now. I got to take a shit. I don't know what's going on. No, that's how I feel. I'm so anxious. Help us, Zeitgang. Please.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Yeah, help me. I guess I just have to like really be more intentional or whatever. But whatever. Instead, I've just been reading more. I'm like, I'm so, cause like I'm also addicted to Tik TOK and I know that about myself. I try to quit,
Starting point is 00:22:51 get back on, you know? So I'm like, okay, no more like screen activity. Like I just gotta like read the written works. That's what I said. Hey Becca,
Starting point is 00:22:59 that's what I keep telling you, especially on this good Friday, just open up the good book, you know, open up that Bible. You know what I mean? Let me go read some verses. Let me go read some book let me go say to john 316 if you need reminding if you need reminding what he did for you about like the eagle lift up your wings no john 316 is for god loved
Starting point is 00:23:15 the world so much he gave his only begotten son that's oh dang eagle's wings is that song and he will raise you up on eagle's wings Alright, so this is an evangelical podcast, so we're going to cut that off right there. I hope all of y'all have a great weekend. Take care of yourselves. Take care of each other. Be kind to yourself too. Get the vaccine and don't do nothing about any kind of hate around you. Be a fucking beacon for good.

Starting point is 00:24:57 where I head back to my hometown in Kentucky and try to convince my high school to change their racist mascot, the Rebels, into something everyone in the South loves, the biscuits. I was a lady rebel. Like, what does that even mean? It's right here in black and white and prints. It's bigger than a flag or mascot. Listen to Rebel Spirit on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
