Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of The Night Time is the Zeit Time, that is courtesy of Huff on, what is it called again, Discord? Yep. Yep. What's that there? What do we call that now?
Starting point is 00:02:24 The old... I'm Jack O'Brien. That's Miles Gray. The's that there? What do we call that now? The old... I'm Jack O'Brien. That's Miles Gray. The old disco? The disco. You start saying, you guys going to the disco later? I keep wanting to call it discourse.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Yeah. Very old. Need to get in there. Have you been there? Have you been? Oh, I've been there. I pop in, I creep, I lurk I'll say one thing, then I have to go
Starting point is 00:02:48 And then people start talking to me And then I have to respond nine hours later It's nice, and everyone's really chilling there Please continue to be chilling there It's a chill space Chill, chill, chill Well, thank you guys for all hanging out together It's a good place for
Starting point is 00:03:05 zeitgang to hang out with other zeitgang thanks for all the akas and all the uh story ideas which we are going to start uh using i think fairly soon uh but right now we are going to use things like google trends and what's trending on twitter to tell you what is happening right now at this very moment. IOC has postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics. I saw the name Dick Pound trending and I knew what was up. Yeah, you knew what was going on. I mean, it took a while. I think a lot of people saw this coming considering the amount of nations that were starting to pull out. Like, China's like, yeah, we're not going to chance it. Canada, a lot of big countries were like,
Starting point is 00:03:49 even if you're going to do it, we're not going to go, because it's just, we don't know what the state of the world is going to be and what is the right thing to do. And there was a lot of pressure, especially, like, for Japanese people I was talking to. I was, like, you know, talking to, asking, what the fuck is abe thing what is the vibe over there because aren't y'all worried about this happening and i think
Starting point is 00:04:09 some people just felt that he wanted to just act like everything was under control and like this wouldn't be a bad thing and like yeah don't worry like we can still do the olympics and then it just got to a point i think where finally even the ioc had to start like showing their hand i mean like yeah this is maybe we need to put our profit-minded motivations aside for a second for these Olympics and actually think of what we can do to stop a pandemic from getting worse. Yeah, and I feel like that underlines something that I feel like I'm seeing a couple stories today underlining. uh you know i'm seeing a couple stories today underlining there there was the story about cuomo uh saying you know this is going to be a month's long thing get used to being uh in your house and cuomo's been the tough love public figure he's really just been like hey idiots try not to kill your grandparents and stay the fuck home, which I respect.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Yeah, I feel like the fact that this is still going to be going on when the Olympics were supposed to have taken place and people are certain enough to have turned down billions and billions of dollars because they knew that it's still going to be going on is kind of a sobering reminder that we got to find ways to make our lives in quarantine. OK, let's talk about National Puppy Day. How did you celebrate National Puppy Day today, Miles? Oh, I did it by just clicking that whole hashtag and seeing how many people were putting puppy photos on. I know there are a lot of people rushing to like adopt pets in the last week uh as they realize hey i might actually have a little bit of time here to take care of a pet and have a companion especially if i live alone i thought you meant for national puppy day i was like well that seems short-sighted oh no i think just in general like you know this this day coinciding with everyone sort of trying to
Starting point is 00:06:04 distract themselves in the most pleasant way possible. I think we're finding that in the power of animals, even with the fake story that we we talked about last week about how the dolphins came back to Venice. That wasn't true. Yeah. And my drop in that you can adopt one of the dolphins and put them in your bathtub. That was also not something that I just made up on the spot. put them in your bathtub that was also uh not something that i just made up on the spot yeah uh and we're sorry about that yeah i do apologize especially for the people who uh took me seriously and did adopt a dolphin yeah um and now their herring bills are through the roof yeah yeah herring I mean, my expenditure from month to month on herring shot through the roof.
Starting point is 00:06:48 I'm upside down on these herring, man. Last month, it was only a couple thou. This month, it's way too much herring. Until the Walmart fish truck comes by. truck comes by yeah um walmart fish truck tiger tiger king reference everywhere i look i think of tiger king uh that is that is what's trending in my life uh but trending on the internet zoom uh not just because people are just finding out about it, but because people are looking for a zero download option, I guess. Yeah, because, you know, obviously this work from home situation has shifted a lot of emphasis onto anything that's about teleconferencing, video conferencing, what have you. And Zoom, like, you know, had a huge uptake in usage. Obviously, people are all
Starting point is 00:07:44 fucking around with the backgrounds and video meetings and having fun with it. But one thing that a lot of people were, like, actually really pissed about is, like, it's really hard to just use it through your browser. Like, their whole thing is, like, yeah, want to use Zoom? Download our app right now. But as a lot of people were taking work computers home, and if you have a work computer, you know, a lot of times you cannot download new applications onto it without it being approved or unless they're actually sanctioned by your company. So a lot of people are like, I need something to use in my browser. If I cannot download the app, what do I do? And there's just been a new plugin that you can attach to your browser that allows you to just use a browser extension to use Zoom rather than having to open the independent app.
Starting point is 00:08:28 So a lot of people are like, yes, give me that. I need it. I need it. Is that just Chrome? I believe it's available in a few different ways. So it's not just Chrome. But yeah, I think it's probably, let me just give you the full thing. Shout out to browser plugins.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Still out here doing some good for people. For Chrome and Firefox as of right now. Opera, submission pending. Edge, submission pending. All right. The Spanish military is trending specifically in our chat thread because Anna forwarded us some images of some of these gentlemen.
Starting point is 00:09:12 And I guess it's the elite Spanish army uniform or the Spanish legion. La legion, the legion. Like their foreign legion, essentially. So they're out here. The uniform's stunning. Okay. Like, they're a foreign legion, essentially. So, they're out here. The uniform's stunning. Yeah. Stunningly tailored. It looks like it could be for Pride Parade, almost.
Starting point is 00:09:40 It's just ripped dudes in really tight, tailored clothing. That seems like it was designed very, very well. It's like ripped dudes. Yeah. I think the thing is they have no top button on these shirts, these collared shirts they're wearing. So everybody is rocking the deepest v and like the hats the chin strap barely on it's just yo these dudes are you know a lot of people
Starting point is 00:10:14 are like yo you seem like the hot women of the israeli defense force check out the studs of the spanish legion because they i was reading an article about how they were like trying to battle obesity within their ranks because they want everybody looking right. Looking right. Yeah. Yeah. Why is the Surgeon General trending? What's going on?
Starting point is 00:10:36 Because the Surgeon General is really trying to let people know what exactly is coming in terms of coronavirus diagnoses uh this week because you know a lot of concern from a lot of professionals has been we really need people to take this seriously it's not just because you're not seeing it where you are that it doesn't matter it's people move people communicate diseases it will eventually affect you. And so Surgeon General Jerome Adams was basically saying, he's like, I want America to understand this week, it's going to get bad. And just in terms of saying, like, we're going to see a huge number of people being diagnosed and people needing medical care. And just like letting people know, especially young people, you can get this disease, as he said, you can be hospitalized from this disease and you can die from this disease, but most importantly,
Starting point is 00:11:27 you can spread it to your loved ones. So just cause you're feeling okay. And you are in close proximity to someone who's in a group like this, then it behooves you to also stay as safe as possible. Um, so, you know, I think a little bit of trying to scare some sense into people, um, because as a lot of people are noticing, even in our own city, it's still, I don't know, I think it's a bit of denial mixed with ignorance. Well, it's going to be bad this week. But by next week, according to Larry Kudlow on Fox News, the cure can't be worse than the disease. And we're going to have to start make some difficult trade-offs and send people back to work to work come on guys this is bad it's a real bummer this quarantine uh so that's what you're
Starting point is 00:12:11 hearing from uh the market the market people lloyd blank whatever uh who used to be the goldman sachs ceo is like come on guys this is this is causing problems too yeah I guess I get that coronavirus is a problem but this is causing problems too we don't have your labor to exploit anymore come on guys come on and then finally Kenny Rogers was
Starting point is 00:12:38 trending quite a bit over the weekend RIP to the gambler to the islandler, to the island in a stream. Nobody calls that. That is what we are. Also a jam.
Starting point is 00:12:54 But yeah, he's got some jams. And for all the young people who I feel like wait around for someone to pass away to listen to their music, yeah, I feel like they around for someone to pass away to listen to their music, I feel like they're going to have a good little run
Starting point is 00:13:10 of some good songs. That song from Big Lebowski is sort of a psychedelic song you would never have associated with Kenny Rogers, but pretty dope song. Just dropped in to see what condition yeah just drop just yeah to see what my condition was in yeah damn kenny that's the bowling ball part damn kenny rogers i didn't know you got wet damn you'd like to get like that i'm
Starting point is 00:13:41 gonna know you partied that's funny because i, I didn't know who the fuck Kenny Rogers was until I saw the restaurants. I'm like, oh, this must be some dude who makes chicken. And then the Seinfeld episode where there's a Kenny Rogers roasters that opens by Kramer's apartment and he starts losing his mind from all the red light that's coming in.
Starting point is 00:13:59 That was my second hit of Kenny Rogers. And then I was like, oh, he's a musician when he was on a wyclef album had you never heard the stranger or the gambler no i didn't yeah i didn't have a lot of interaction with his music and then i was like okay and then i was like wait i know these but i knew i've i've heard his songs passively before that but i didn't know who the fuck can i didn't know who to attribute it to and then with that i was like oh okay this guy i see what's up yeah that's i mean if you had parents who didn't just constantly listen to the soft rock radio uh when you're driving around with them as a kid i guess you know you wouldn't hear him as much as i did growing up
Starting point is 00:14:41 yeah yeah i mean i was listening to debussy and dvorak uh things of that nature damn well fauci is now trending because he and trump are clashing uh i don't know whose opinion i trust more uh but we'll we'll see well the problem is it's because this guy's like coronavirus thing yeah whenever they ask anthony fauci, oh, isn't the president like just kind of coming out of pocket saying shit? He's like, well, I can't just like cut him off and say scream, like stop talking. And this is what happens every time Trump works with somebody who knows what the fuck they're doing. They start being smart in front of people. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:19 The goal and be all smart in front of everybody. Then now I got to get rid of you. Yeah. Anyways, guys, stay safe out there. Wash your hands. I feel like we're not telling people as much to not touch their face. Are we just assuming that they are quarantined and that's why they can touch their face now?
Starting point is 00:15:38 Don't touch your face. Treat this shit seriously. Wash your hands. Wash your ass. Wash everything. No time to not wash that now. Wash your ass every time you are at the sink. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Might as well. Just use the restroom. Got to wash your ass always. Public restroom, still do it, guys. Exactly. All right. That's going to do it for today. We will be back tomorrow with a whole other episode.
Starting point is 00:16:08 And we will talk to you guys then. Bye. Bye. In California during the summer of 1975, within the span of 17 days and less than 90 miles, two women did something no other woman had done before, try to assassinate the president of the United States.
Starting point is 00:16:27 One was the protege of Charles Manson. 26-year-old Lynette Fromm, nicknamed Squeaky. The other, a middle-aged housewife working undercover for the FBI. Identified by police as Sarah Jean Moore. The story of one strange and violent summer this season on the new podcast, Rip Current.
