Hello, the Internet, and welcome to this episode of The North Trend.
A play on The Northman, which is a movie that came out last weekend,
but is apparently very dark and captivating, and nobody went to see it.
So, I don't know. Go check it out.
People, they're like, it's his worst worst movie but it's still good it was like
one distillation of a review i read um i'm into it i want to i want to see it instead this weekend
i saw sonic the hedgehog 2 okay and it's not they're not the rings out of you it's um it's
not not the best sonic the hedgehog movie i've ever seen out of
the two that would be sonic the hedgehog one which i saw saturday night before because uh
one of my son's friends was going to see sonic 2 on sunday morning so i was like yeah let's check
out the first one see if you like it. It did immediately replace Cars 2
as his favorite movie of all time.
Not a huge sample size.
You're grateful.
And then, yeah, we went and saw Sonic 2
and he really enjoyed it.
I did not.
I did not.
It's an underrated part of watching a movie
in a theater with a kid
is that you're still not supposed to
like be on your phone the whole time i like the idea of you talking shit like underneath your
breath the whole time because it's not as good as the first one yeah dad what nothing nothing no
that's pretty cool right that's cool he still asks questions of full volume and so i have to like
come up with uh answers to questions that don't have answers.
Like, why did he say that?
It's like that.
I don't know.
That's Jim Carrey, man.
Yeah.
That's just Jim Carrey being Jim Carrey.
I love, yeah.
Like when you're a kid, you ask him like existential questions.
There's no way you could possibly understand the motivation of a character
unless like you're really like, okay, well, he he said that because like should we really get into do you want to know why he actually
said that one exact one exact exchange was is tails dead uh because tails tails took a
took a bit i don't want to spoil all right spoiler alert ahead of time spoiler tails is dead tails
got tails got fucked up in one scene got hit pretty
pretty hard my
namesake miles tails yeah
and was unconscious for a period
and said what
is his tails dead and when I said
no he
wanted to know how I knew that
and I was like yeah I mean by all
available evidence he should
be dead but you know right that that's just not how movies for children work.
But the first Sonic was an enjoyable at home viewing experience, I will say.
And that shit ain't even trending.
That's how good this shit is.
Yeah, exactly.
Anyways, I am Jack.
You are Miles.
And these are some of the things that are trending
on this april 25th it's monday uh and elon musk has apparently successfully bought twitter
yeah um and there's announcement that the old ceo is about to give but as of this recording
that has that announcement has not come yet so right now we just know what he dropped, like $44 billion on Twitter
to become the new fucking Rupert Murdoch of the internet.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I like last week's guest, David DeJong's theory
that it was because he didn't get let into that club
because apparently he was in line, was tweeting from in line at a club, and then
said something about how whack the bouncers were or something.
And then I don't think that was the exact, but he had a plausible theory of the case.
And that makes as much sense as anything that one small slight to one uh very irrationally immorally wealthy person would
change the world in this way yeah what do you think so impulse buy for sure this thing i don't know
i don't first domino to fall in the full like because you know i think a lot of people speculate
with elon musk and the way he's talked about free speech and like the Internet that like, OK, you know, we're maybe pretty close to seeing Trump back on Twitter.
Yeah, a lot of other people back on Twitter because it has to be free speech that it's going to completely just going to be siding with the absolutely unsavory rotten eggs of the Internet.
very rotten eggs of the internet.
Yeah, it's not great when the moral arbiter of one of the largest communications platforms
is somebody who grew from the emerald mines
of apartheid South Africa.
Right, right, right.
And has shown no practical evidence
that he's not heavily in the debt of of that place yeah time
i mean yeah a lot of people would just point to how like it's the slow moving uh not even slow
moving it might be a real quick realignment to the right here um and then we'll see what happens honestly part of me kind of is is kind of excited for the
idea of the people of twitter to burn it down in protest yeah i'd love to see that i don't know
really what that looks like i don't know what it looks like but there was this tweet from steve
monticelli which is like saying in response to elon buy it's like okay well you know like most
of us now are gonna have to be responsible for making this thing worthless like if it if he really fucks around and turns this thing into
a cesspit but it will be i mean that's gonna be those are like the things we have coming up it's
like okay you got an edit button but donald trump is back right yeah yeah exactly see how i do that
one for one for everybody You know what I mean?
Yeah.
So the business press, they're reacting like this.
This is Jordan 96 playoffs.
Like, how did he do it?
He's pulled it.
He's pulled victory from the jaws of defeat.
It's like, oh, well, it's because he's the richest person in the history of the world maybe
and he offered to pay them 43 billion dollars and because of coverage from the likes of you guys
that is you know great for the company because you guys just think everything he does is genius
he bought into the whole great man theory of capitalism um so i don't know yeah
the things he said uh like that a good sign as to whether there is free speech is is someone you
don't like allowed to say something you don't like if that is the case then we have free speech
um which well i mean it makes sense that now a lot of people are going hard on the picks with
him and gielan maxwell right like being like yeah yeah let's get these retweeted let's we'll let's
tweet the things he won't like and see what his threshold for that is but i mean it's it's just a
weird spot for him to be in like you don't want to be it's one thing to be the coolest kid in the
lunchroom and then suddenly become the lunchroom monitor right that's your your
relationship inherently is going to change with the shit because i you get now you're like man i
love what could i do on twitter man they fucking love me but then now you're the face of if if when
shit starts going one way or the other that's gonna affect him because people are just gonna
begin to just say just like jack like jack dorsey was twitter even when he wasn't it's just gonna be elon and i'm sure he'll just say some spicy shit and then
people get pissed or annoyed and then you know the fights will man if you thought twitter was bad now
fuck yeah it's gonna be borderline unusable probably um i i still go there mainly for nba highlights and for uh i mean i
guess on to the other to the other side of that it is borderline unusable as it is so yeah they
fucked up the latest update uh yeah and in general you know like it's it's it already has enough
fucked up things on there it's like what's a little bit more, I guess? But it's about, I think, the power of Twitter to normalize that
or give the perception that it's normal, I think, is what's a little...
That's the dark part of all this.
Well, Donald Trump is trending,
not because whether he's allowed back on Twitter
is the main question that I think most people have uh with the sale of twitter but uh
because he's being held in contempt of court in new york yeah um and we'll be fined ten thousand
freaking dollars a day for not cooperating with subpoenas and producing documents um dang yeah
that would be uh highly convincing to me and will not even register as a blip on
his radar i'm assuming god i mean all he's got to do is send a couple emails you know accusing some
you know like mickey mouse of being a groomer or something and then he can
has like another four weeks worth of ignoring the fucking court so right yeah i mean this is
going to be an interesting week for him too because
as we're talking to there's like more text messages coming out and i don't when i say
interesting week it's just going to be a week where people uh who are not in on the maga side
of things go how the fuck do this does this shit keep how much more do we need does anyone need to
know here before something's done?
Yeah.
So we got MGT, which we talk about on tomorrow's episode, but asking to declare martial law.
Martial, like Marshall's, the store.
Yeah, Marshall.
Yeah.
Well, over in France, Emmanuel Macron won the French presidential election
with 58% of the vote.
People are rightly pointing out that's still a lot for a Nazi.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I think a lot of the commentary is like, okay, cool.
Neoliberal Macron has won.
What's your new block of support gonna look like
is it just gonna be the you know the the moneyed bourgeoisie or what or who who stands to benefit
from this next presidency but i mean if you're a fucking fascist in france you're looking at that
even like bro move on up.
Like they're building, they're building on it.
This is more than what Le Pen had five years ago.
Yeah.
I mean, it really seems to be part of a larger trend that we've seen in America where the options seem to be like centrism, global corporation,
bootlicking, you know, that option, and then the far right.
Yeah.
And the left doesn't really have a horse in the race. Hey, here's the menu for potential candidates.
You can get bootlick or curb stomp.
Right.
Which, who do you like?
Hey, folks, which one looks good to you?
On the bootleg side, I mean, pretty much nothing is going to change for you.
Let's be honest here.
Definitely not in a better way.
And then curb stomp, if you have misplaced anger, that might appeal to you.
Yeah.
Because you just want to see a bunch of people get smashed out.
I don't know.
But anyway, those are the two options you have all right well let's take a quick break uh and we'll be right back i'm jess casaveto executive producer of the hit netflix
documentary series dancing for the devil, the 7M TikTok cult.
And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church.
And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed.
Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will
delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members,
and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful,
in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling, first-hand accounts,
the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have
Followed will be more than an exploration.
It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again.

When you're just starting out in your career,
you have a lot of questions.
Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed?
Or, can I negotiate a higher salary
if this is my first real job?
Girl, yes.
Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions.
Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice.
And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner.
The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies.
Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100 percent of the shots you never take?
Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to
thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep.

It's right here in black and white in print.
A lion.
An individual that came to the school saying that God sent him to talk to me about the mascot switch.
As a leader, you choose hills that you want to die on.
Why would we want to be the losing team?
I'd just take all the other stuff out of it.
On segregation academies, when civil rights said that we need to integrate public schools, these charter schools were exempt from that.
Bigger than a flag or mascot.
You have to be ready for serious backlash.
Listen to Rebel Spirit on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
It was December 2019 when the story blew up. In Green Bay, Wisconsin,
former Packers star Kabir Bajabiamila caught up in a bizarre situation. KGB explaining what he
believes led to the arrest of his friends at a children's Christmas play. A family man,
former NFL player, devout Christian, now cut off from his family and connected to a strange arrest.
I am going to share my journey of how I went from Christianity to now a Hebrew Israelite.
I got swept up in Kabir's journey, but this was only the beginning.
In a story about faith and football, the search for meaning away from the gridiron
and the consequences for everyone involved.
You mix homesteading with guns and church
and a little bit of the spice of conspiracy theories that we liked.
Voila! You got straight away.
I felt like I was living in North Korea, but worse, if that's possible.
Listen to Spiraled on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,

podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
And we're back.
And Mark Meadows, so many texts.
So many fucking texts, man.
More texts than you'd care to know about.
More texts than my phone when I had a Nokia 3390 and I just got it.
CNN has gotten over like 2,000 text messages between the former chief of staff uh that were between election day and the inauguration on the
20th and everybody everybody's in this jared doju eric ivanka rudy the fucking my pillow guy
marjorie taylor green everybody and it spans the stuff from like
rick perry the former energy secretary being like we need to get killers in there like talk about
like like lawyers to gum up the gears like he's talking about like these like i don't know he
might be talking about real killers who fucking knows but they're all like pushing to have the
election results overthrown yes and to get okay get
killers like lawyers in there who can completely slow down the certification process because that
was the whole thing is like if you can get the certification process slow down then you have
some legal wiggle room for mike pence to fuck it up um on the 6th and then but if he won't do it
then we need to chase him out the building with
a mob which was like very clear that that was the like the plan was pretty much known it's like to
get to this thing all of these things have to happen so with rick perry he's like yo we got
to get these like lawyers out there and when you think about what he was talking about and what
ended up happening like in the sense that it was rudy giuliani and sydney powell killers these were not
luckily for this like fragile country and then there's like a like there's a lot of denials
where it's like oh i don't know if like those are even like sent from the my phone one of them
signed it rick perry with like a signature on it um so i don't know it's just it did you know i think this is just
going to be a continuation of like the slow hiss of bullshit that comes out of this punctured tire
of our government yeah it's really bad it's really bad what how did they end up with julian
was it just like mismanagement by trump being like that bad at
this all of the top tier grifters got their shit and left like bannon you know what i mean like
that group of people who are like smarter than trump were connected with other people who could
also help in like many different ways that era ended and then we got into the sycophant era
which is only people who are
gonna agree only people who are telling me my mixtape is hot as fucking the the hottest dumpster
fire in town and that's how you got giuliani who would be like oh yeah we can do anything and you
get like you know two fucking senile boomer dudes fucking freestyling to each other and then you get
this shit yeah it's just like the the thing that perry's calling for about like you know really
buttoned up great lawyers coming through to gum up the works like that has been done by the
republicans before and resulted in them winning a contested election with bush versus gore so
like it does just illustrate how close,
if it had been standard operating procedure
for the Republican Party,
he probably could have pulled it off.
Right.
Which is pretty wild to think about.
And also, all of this and the position that we're in
and the lack of urgency on the kind of middle left and neoliberal side just makes me
realize that it's not um like as things get worse and as the revelations get worse it it's almost
it feels less like people are like well we must like rise together and it just feels like everyone's like fucking defeated or something yeah it's it's
bad and yeah i think i mean at this point it's like you know we can we can continue the sort of
optimism of like you know and then doj will come around and like it'll fix it all but we have so
many problems in this country that have easier solutions than merely following
the evidence and arresting someone that we still can't get over that i'm like
yeah let's yeah let's you know day by day that's why i'm like i'm not gonna live in the future
when nothing's happened i'm gonna just live till shit's real and then we'll just go from there
we'll go from there and even grace and alan had a like big game this weekend the bad guys it was big weekend
for the bad guys yeah i'm not just talking robotnik uh it was a big big weekend for the
for the bad guys with uh grace and alan coming through and just being on fire for Milwaukee, who I do like Milwaukee.
I just don't like that Grayson Allen like really did it.
There's a lot of people,
a lot of fans on the NBA Twitter who will accuse a player of intentionally
injuring someone.
And it,
it's like,
come on,
man.
Yeah.
But,
but this,
I don't know.
He,
there seems to be a lot of smoke with this guy being a dirty player.
But anyways, after one of his teammates went out with an injury,
he stepped up and played really well against the team that he most saddled
with an unnecessary injury.
So that's a bummer for the people of Chicago.
And, yeah.
Hey, though.
Bucks doing it.
Just chugging along.
I need them to come in strong to the next series
and play well against the Boston Celtics.
Because that one is a wrap.
This show is united against the Celtics putting up another banner.
There is a wrap this show is united against the celtics putting up another banner there is a
sliver of uh sunshine uh because board the board ape yacht club um miles and i both bought some uh
some crypto no uh they got hacked which is nice to see they so apparently these hackers they got
into their instagram account their discord and and were sending these links that essentially just opened up people's crypto wallets to these hackers.
Yeah.
I guess I don't feel good about that either because I think a lot of the people who are investing in crypto are...
No.
Yeah, so it all sucks. It's hard to get mad, right? Because I don't fault anybody for looking at something and thinking that it's a solution to their all, you know, the cause of and solution to all of life's problems.
Right.
Crypto.
But, yeah, when you see stuff like this, it's I think what with the harm that it does, it just shows you like, man, this is you can't.
How the fuck are you going to protect yourself if somebody just get into an Instagram account and suddenly, boom, three million dollars worth of JPEGs are gone. are gone once again miles the answer is always deregulation we saw it with enron thank
you saw it with uh american capitalism over the past 20 years and now we're seeing it with
uh crypto baby deregulated twitter is going to be great yeah deregulation there too i mean
it always works out
buckle the fuck up everybody
it's gonna be an interesting one
alright well those are the things
that are happening on Monday
let's see if we can
make it to Tuesday
let's just see if we can make it to Tuesday
day at a time that is a good way to go
I am
Jack you've been Miles.
And we are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show.
Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine.
Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to you all tomorrow. Bye.
Bye.
