heard people say well he he can run he can run and be president from prison so hey eugene debs did yeah and you know they're on the same level basically in my book yeah uh yeah so i mean i think that's that's a good sign of um things to come i feel like the the gauntlet has been laid down which is he's coming back uh and if you don't properly put shit in place to like prevent all manners of fuckery i don't know i don't know how the fuck you get out of it convict president is like it's like an air bud-esque mashup, like nothing in the rule book that says guy in jail can't be president.

You know? So yeah, we'll see what happens there, but I think it's a great sign for the party. At this point, the conservatives are gone. It's just all the authoritarians. Right.

Apparently, Trump is at a low point in terms of hypothetical polling between Biden and Trump. Since Biden, dark Brandon has come through and really let him know. And also because he's being revealed to be a con artist who is not revealed to be a con artist who is not good at being a con artist. I think that also has dinged him a little bit.

Yeah, well, like we've said, white supremacy allows people to do really sloppy crimes and get away with it for a long time. Yeah. The reporting on this has been that he really just got people's donations, did not use it, did not even have plans to use it on building the wall,

I was worried that he was going to the like a jet lead type thing you know where he's like got his hands up like come on oh and get me suckers or he has the handcuffs

on he's like watch this and he just like breaks out yeah because he is like a tough guy and like cool so you right just i didn't know what to happen, but he appears to still be in custody. So I think he got released. Oh, did he? And he's just got to come back, you know, for his trial date. So it was just like a photo op, basically. Yeah, I think that's what the turn in was. Like, I think he thought it was like, this was a good look. Right. Yeah. Oh, you think you can quiet quit and not do extra work and instead just do your job like the thing in the job description that we hired you for okay asshole well guess what we have a thing called quiet fired you've been quiet fired yeah which also is like an actual thing which when you think about it like that oh you've been in a workplace and you're like, yo, I'm doing way better work than this person. Like how, how did they jump three positions up in like a, in a month? Like what happened there?

And you kind of get like, nobody returns calls. You don't get scheduled. There's like all kinds of ways where you get ghosted by the employer for sure. of ways where you get ghosted by the employer for sure but the way this huff post thing is like it's written it really does feel like a clap back from the employers to the concept of quiet quitting um like it says not to be confused the popular quiet quitting trend you may have heard about on social media it says they go on to say where is it while the employees who quiet quit are choosing to do the bare minimum in their role while they search for their next career move employers are in control of quiet firing here are some signs

that you're being pushed out but then it is kind of like it just sounds like any terrible workplace where there's no upward mobility right fucking like inaccessible management um it's it's it's a it's like kind of a thing where you read you're like i think everyone would read this article and be like oh yeah i've been quiet fired right oh yeah this is this is what this just sounds like any workplace where there's no respect for the people that do work there but i think they want to be like and you can get quiet fired so you better think you better fucking you you better up that output. Right. What are the signs that you've been quiet fired? Like it's stuff like,

like I'm saying, like you're being passed up for promotions. You can't get, uh, like you can't speak to like a manager, like when you need to, when you have like a real pressing issue and things like that to just kind of like basically like how your morale gets killed.

Like you begin to see that there are like favorites where like one person you know is clearly up for every single promotion while like where you might be in a job for like many years more than this other person you're like what the fuck is this but those are kind of what the signs are and they don't that's what i'm saying they don't sound like anything new right we're like quiet quitting you could say is maybe a newer phenomenon where it's like maybe more widespread but i think a lot of people have quite quit their jobs over the years where people like i ain't doing that like it's just kind of a sentiment that has existed it also just seems so diffuse and like poorly defined like not the other people getting a raise instead of you is being quiet fired like that that just feels i don't know it just seems like

a complete grab bag of different things that suck about work yeah i think for people though there are many people like in the course of working you don't like you you don't have the skills to identify like a shitty workplace right right so you know for this article yeah these are the signs but really it's usually like you work for like greedy people who are self-interested don't have any concept of equity and that's how they run their company and the really the thing is it's more like when somebody's trying to get somebody else to break up with them that's more like what the quiet firing sounds like like let me just try and make this untenable for you so then you fucking leave or eventually when you are fired it's not a surprise right kind of shit yeah i know people who work at law firms who are like uh if you don't make

partner you like they basically force you out or they're they're just basically like yeah you might as well leave now right that that sounds like a thing that's been happening since the first person was hired oh yes yeah uh passive aggression from your employer yeah wow i feel like that's 50 of all jobs like is dealing with things that like mixed messages like this just feels like it's like built to generate like paranoia and just to make you be like oh shit they fuck they hate me they hate me at this job yeah it's a fucking it's a wild just a bad job fucking ride but yeah yeah quiet firing i don't know if that's gonna strike fear into the hearts of people who don't give a fuck. Um,

you know, when you're, when you're saying, Hey, can you, Oh, you don't want to do three like overtime shifts in a row. Right. Yeah.

Um, Pinocchio is trending that new live action version of Pinocchio. This is like the latest classic Disney cartoon to get a live action adaptation. We, we looked at the trailer when that dropped a little while ago yeah the weird animation looks interesting tom hanks's performance looked unhinged uh it dropped and the reviews are kind of all over the place but for the most part like from the from the critics who generally are in in the same boat as me on on

movies they're like this shit is a nightmare it is weird dude the telegraph tom hanks should be embarrassed this wooden mess right yeah there's a lot of like wooden i don't know what kind of wood-brained concept they came up with on this on this freaking thing but generally yeah i i've read things about tom hanks's performance like being embarrassing anywhere between embarrassing and like he's really going for it but he's he's a good actor so we're i'm interested also in so robert zemeckis uh the guy who made back to the future forrest gump uh when you when you go back and look at his movies back to the future is a classic right like a timeless classic i think a lot of people really love that but it has some weird racist shit in it uh forest gump i i think

when you go back and watch not racist at all not problematic at all this has like some wildly like the depiction of the black panthers in forest gump is oh yeah that's that's insane it yeah it is the fbi had a script edit on that yeah yeah um and so it's just interesting because so robert zemeckis made this new pinocchio it really feels like he is incapable of like making sense of the world as it exists now like he's like such a boomer that like he just can't can't deal in this new reality. He made that Steve Carell movie, Welcome to Morrowind. It was based on a very successful

popular documentary, but everyone was just like, this is so weird and bad. Wild to me. It just feels like a person who's out of time, who just can't deal. Well, I guess maybe this is what it looks like on the way down.

I don't know if his son Chet, if that's weighing on him. That's why the decisions aren't. Oh, you're talking Tom Hanks? Yeah. I'm just thinking about Tom Hanks, too. Because he's putting in back-to-back fucking stinkers. Right. So, yeah, that's a good point.

I mean, his... Yeah, I kind of have to see this just to see what we're working with. I have to watch it right now. His performance in Elvis is so unhinged and so strange when you actually look at who the person he was playing is and realize that anybody doing a less unhinged performance would have served the movie so much better than the Elvis movie. I don't say this lightly. It is, I think, the most baffling performance in a movie.

We've had time away from Elvis. I generally really like Tom Hanks as a performer. Yeah. I thought he was great in most other things. Big is like a seminal movie for me. Love Big. His performance in Elvis is one of the most baffling performances, if not the most baffling performance in a movie.

All I'm saying is he's not usually doing character work like deep. Like, I mean, he does, but not with like act like accents. He doesn't do his accent work is not the best. Okay. Yeah.

He's more of like, it's his kind eyes and energy that I feel like most people connect with on top of him being just obviously a good actor. But it's almost, I wonder if that's what I'm saying. I don't know if he's like Chet getting, being able to cook out here with the patois like he's from kingston like trench town chet and then he's like you know what i'll try an accent i like accents too let me be this dutch southern man and fucking absolutely frighten audiences across the globe i'm not sure is tom hanks similar to zemeckis like is

he just doesn't does he not make sense in a like for instance there's a story about how they they had planned forrest gump 2 uh they were like in pre-production forrest gump 2 had a script in which forrest gump is in the backseat of the Bronco, like during the Bronco chase, they were going to make that shit. And nine 11 happened and they met the next day and we're like, this movie no longer makes sense. Cause Forrest Gump no longer makes sense. Like does Tom Hanks no longer make sense in our modern world?

I had to go to this podcast conference called Podcast Movement. And when we were there, we were surprised to see that right when you walked into the podcast, I don't know, the first booth when you walked into the booth hall place was a big daily wire station with a popcorn machine. And Ben Shapiro was hanging out like he was you know just a mascot or something to the point that i can confirm he is five six and lifts but people were really grossed out by him being there understandably there was there's a bunch of tweets from uh aaron mankey who made the podcast lore um you know just being like podcast movement should be ashamed of itself nobody accidentally takes a payment and assigns booth space to a hate speech publishing company and so at the time we talked about how podcast movement came back and was like yeah our bad we bad. We fucked up. We shouldn't be like dealing with Nazis.

So since then, the backlash has been all like coming from the right and like podcast movement, disassociating themselves with Ben Shapiro has become the controversial thing. It's like they're, I don't know, a cumulus who publishes, uh,

the Ben Shapiro show and other daily wire bullshit, um, have like been like, we're parting ways with podcast movement. So I don't know. It's just, it's interesting that we are, we've entered an era when like that short sort of shit of like a,

like white supremacist person who has just gish-galloped himself into having a career but is openly just arguing on behalf of white supremacist ideals constantly is somebody who it's not safe to criticize and boycott in the modern media landscape like now it's like well they're actually being uh prejudiced because they're not accepting him at their thing they they don't like fascists right and so fascism is a viewpoint yeah but this is actually i mean on the you know the glowing version of how you look at podcasting is because of the ease of production of podcasting, you've allowed the proliferation of all kinds of people having shows and a voice and a great content.

And then that's the beauty of it. It's a low bar to get your ideas out there and get them to connect with other people and then you're gonna fucking just embrace people who are actively you know advocating for the demise of people who do not look like them like that doesn't square in general but like to your point it's all money and if you put up enough money at that level then yeah you get your booth and we can completely you know look away from your bullshit antics and say that like well you know because it's a big podcast that's why they're really you know i mean they are significant kind of shitty arguments yeah um and you know what continue to exclude these people uh because that's you know that

that's that's what the response should be as a society to people who are out here so fucking yeah hateful like it isn't just like well dude i mean i know he makes everyone uncomfortable here at the party but like he also like has a right to be at my birthday and you're like well then it's at the cost of like everybody else who's here right so anyways uh scary times be uh in america five five yeah, well, those are the things that are trending today, Thursday, September 8th.
