Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's basketball. And on this new season, we'll cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio apps, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:57 The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. Hello, the Internet, and welcome to this episode of the zeit house starring wiltrand defoe um and robert and there he is that's a movie i saw over the break that uh made an impression very good and also crazy that came out right before the pandemic and it's basically about two people in quarantine for too long but that that movie is fucking wild uh i recommend i'm jack you are miles yes and hey should we tell the people some of the things that are trending i think we shall i think we shall good idea uh all right we're not sure anti-vaxxers might be being pranked is what I'm starting to suspect.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Because on yesterday's episode, or I guess that was this morning's episode. Yeah. We talked about how the new boutique cure for COVID or COVID treatment, courtesy of the vaccine police officer. What's his name? The chief of vaccine police. Vaccine police guy. Yeah. Just vaccine police guy. What's his name? The chief of vaccine police, vaccine police guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Just vaccine police guy. Yeah. He, uh, he was telling them, you got to start drinking your own pee pee. Um, because that's,
Starting point is 00:03:12 that's what helps COVID. Uh, so Cora recrossed path on Twitter, pointed out, uh, a tweet from Alana McLaughlin. They got ahold of the prevention and early outpatient treatment protocol for COVID-19 that is being distributed among anti-vaxxers.
Starting point is 00:03:32 And I think it's like they say the second line of defense is a very rigorous round of this medication that completely wipes out testosterone production it is what is uh often used by people transitioning yeah so it's like what is a dual anti-androgen therapy yeah uh whoa um yeah i don't know anymore i really don't know what the aim is. Because that's why I think we always have trouble listening to these people, because it all borders on absurdity. But people are taking it seriously.
Starting point is 00:04:15 And then you're like, is this guy fucking around? Are there just people getting off on trying to see what they can get anti-vaxxers to do? Because all they say is, look at the research. Now, take it with a grain of salt but look at the research well right why should i why are you why are you starting off your your scientific presentation of be skeptical yeah no a lot of people it gets edited out a lot of the time but uh einstein's theory of relativity is take it with a grain of salt but e might equal mc squared that's how it was actually put out there um this is brilliant i mean this might be accidentally happening this way but the one thing that they
Starting point is 00:04:56 are really bad at uh by definition is uh filtering information uh finding the truth um and so if somebody is combating them by uh you know just polluting the already wildly polluted well with um you know things that are sabotaging uh but i love it although somebody did point out that if there is a subsequent resultant shortage of hormone replacement therapy meds like not such a good thing but yeah especially for people who are using them for their own personal aims that are helping their life rather than
Starting point is 00:05:34 people trying to like pwn Dr. Fauci right yeah yeah well it's an absurd world all around us and yes we still can't figure i'm like is this prank yeah but i guess being on that side of the political spectrum everything feels like a prank on yourself so can't believe future and drake thought that was quite a time to be alive that
Starting point is 00:05:58 that wasn't shit man this is they do the new album cover but instead of diamonds it's like covid cells yeah exactly what's sorry we were wrong that was a that was it yeah that was the cover was just like i was mad at that album cover i was like this is terrible it looked like a fucking trapper keeper yeah yeah that was just straight up like i don't know but granted it was probably like an actual photograph of like a bunch of diamonds. I mean, who knows? People are being like, hey, is that a stock image? Great.
Starting point is 00:06:30 It did look like a stock image. Very low licensing, very low cost to get that to an album cover. I mean, that does seem to be, you know, Drake's most recent album was a bunch of emojis. Yeah. That were like a cell phone because creativity and decline he thinks it's he thinks he's like funny when he's cell phoning but it doesn't really work as well no it's as he thinks it does no no no no because it's not done like to the full force of what you could do to like really be self-deprecating he's dabbling in it you know we were born in it
Starting point is 00:07:05 you know what i mean um yeah i was born in the darkness i was born in the self-deprecation you may be playing it um yeah matt gates is trending because his ex-girlfriend uh from all of the controversy who i believe they're saying was like a minor or maybe one of the older women who was potentially helping traffic minors anyway has has testified in a florida court about their relationship and god knows what else it's definitely not a good development for him uh but a lot of legal analysts are saying like this to me looks like the doj might be getting closer to an actual indictment for matt gates which based on even the reporting we've seen, we're like, yeah, a lot of this seems like it's a...
Starting point is 00:07:48 These are crimes. He's doing crimes, but he's still on the Judiciary Committee, which has... It can oversee things like the Department of Justice, and a lot of people are pointing at it like, should he still be on that committee? Is that...
Starting point is 00:08:03 Right. Anyone see a conflict of interest here no okay leader mccarthy no okay don't worry about it yeah this is definitely one of those stories where the uh wheels of justice turning slowly is a little uh a little frustrating does feel like it would be nice if we could just make some pretty basic common sense decisions about this asshole. Right. So there's a couple big stories about leaders overseas that I wanted to check in with real quick. We got Lula in Brazil, former president, leftist, went to prison on corruption charges has is out and is running for president again against bolsonaro or is not like officially running for president but people suspect in a poll
Starting point is 00:08:53 yeah yeah and polling suggests that he would absolutely rinse bolsonaro uh by like quite a large margin which just leads me to be very worried about his safety uh about lula's safety because yeah and also just are we going to see a thing of like it looks like a leftist may be helping to solve the problems after a rigid conservative government right um like do you think you're going to extol the virtues of lula's policies or be like well you know but or suddenly msnbc is like is bolsonaro that bad like what the fuck yeah unfortunately i think the msnbc's ratings in brazil are even lower than they are here which is okay pretty pretty shocking yeah uh and then boris
Starting point is 00:09:45 johnson just keeps getting caught up the the latest is that like at the early stages of the pandemic when like everybody was on like a very strict lockdown he was having uh byob parties at like i said you know the the white house their white house what is it 10 10 downing street yeah and people are saying this could be the end it doesn't seem he seems to have that trump gene where things don't actually affect him but he he likes to party would be the just the stories that actually stick in my brain that are coming out of his administration always seem to be about partying it's like somebody found a bunch of cocaine like right around where he does business and now it's like this guy can't stop partying right yeah he's the he the venga boys the venga bus is coming because he likes to party he likes he likes to party just park the venga bus right in front of 10 downing
Starting point is 00:10:47 street yeah now that was a time bring your own booze like what is this like honestly i'd be like yo i thought you were the fucking prime minister we're gonna bring our fucking liquor to your party you have an open bar what the fuck we paying taxes for the headline says uh bring your own booze drinks party do we need to specify that it's a drinks party the headline says uh bring your own booze drinks party do we need to specify that it's a drinks party after it's a bring your own booze or is that just like a is that a british thing yeah that feels like an english thing englishism yeah how they realize math it's fun stuff like calling drunk driving drink driving and shit yeah you know i like i like uh math taken to the drink. I like pluralizing math.
Starting point is 00:11:26 I like, uh, not having to say the hospital, just saying hospital. I've gone, I've gone to hospital. Yeah. Those are good.
Starting point is 00:11:33 Um, he's in kitchen working cooker. Is that real? Yeah. Okay. I like that. It's more of like a Yorkshire vibe. Quick maths.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Uh, all right, let's take a quick break and we'll come back and talk about batman uh we'll talk about cheer season two yes i'm jess casavetto executive producer of the hit netflix documentary series dancing for the devil the 7m tiktok cult and i'm cleo gray former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged
Starting point is 00:12:16 cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members and others whose lives and careers have been impacted just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Girl, yes. Each week we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know
Starting point is 00:13:24 the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career
Starting point is 00:13:46 without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:14:07 All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours. BPM 110. 120. She's terrified. Should we wake her up? Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:14:23 What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people.
Starting point is 00:14:39 There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. When you think
Starting point is 00:14:58 of Mexican culture, you think of avocado, mariachi, delicious cuisine, and of course, lucha libre. It doesn't get more Mexican than this. Lucha libre is known globally because it is much more than just a sport and much more than just entertainment. Lucha libre is a type of storytelling.
Starting point is 00:15:16 It's a dance. It's tradition. It's culture. This is Lucha Libre Behind the Mask, a 12-episode podcast in both English and Spanish about the history and cultural richness of Lucha Libre. And I'm your host, Santos Escobar, the emperor of Lucha Libre and a WWE superstar. Santos! Santos! Join me as we learn more about the history behind this spectacular sport from its inception in the United States to how it became a global symbol of Mexican culture. We'll learn more about some of the most iconic heroes in the ring.
Starting point is 00:15:47 This is Lucha Libre Behind the Mask. Listen to Lucha Libre Behind the Mask as part of My Cultura Podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you stream podcasts. And we're back. And PG-13 is trending because people are mad uh that the new batman movie with robert pattinson is pg-13 because everybody's favorite batmen are oh also pg-13 pg-13 like
Starting point is 00:16:18 what are we doing i think because the the sort of the way they were leading was like it's getting into his early vigilante career. So it's like, what, you're expecting to rip people's mandibles off and kick their heads off and shit? What about it that, what are you missing with the PG-13 film here? Because for all the people who are like, the Dark Knight, man, fucking so good. That's PG-13. Right. So, yeah. i don't know like i don't even see how it's limited by not being r-rated um and someone made like a joke on twitter i forget who
Starting point is 00:16:55 it was like it's like pg-13 uh doesn't seem like a good fit for this film considering bruce wayne had never had any parental guidance but you know i mean there you go um and his uh access to him was very restricted yeah as super producer brian pointed out that uh ben affleck as batman did like kill lots of people in those movies but even that was pg-13 so um but yeah that that movie was wild because he was just like yeah now bat in this one batman just kills people he just like shoots fools like that's just like a thing he does sick i think that would be dope if superman started using a gun too this is so extra they're like bro could you just like vaporize me with your laser eyes you got me in the fucking icu with a gunshot wound like you could have just killed me
Starting point is 00:17:52 um yeah i kind of i really like that idea i need a superman where he's like we didn't have guns on krypton whoa this shit is crazy there's a new quinnipiac poll uh and is it biden's like not doing great i would say he's at uh 33 uh so with independence he's 25 uh among Hispanics, he's 28. Lower than his support from white voters. Yeah. It's an interesting... I mean, I think, again, we'll talk about this tomorrow, or we'll at least touch on this polling,
Starting point is 00:18:34 but they look at this like, what's going on? Why are all these people who normally are solid support, why are they saying the economy, I'm handling it, only saying the economy i'm handling it only 34 think i'm handling it well and 56 or 57 think i'm not handling it well well because you're not actually looking at like has someone done a study on what it means to work every day here and try and survive and go to a job where they're telling you to come in even if you have covid and then you or
Starting point is 00:19:05 you work at a place and you're like yo that dude's sick they haven't what the fuck why are they here fuck is this i think so much i again we said this like even with like the teachers and students or flight attendants so many people are just they're watching this shit burn so close to them now they're like what the fuck i'm not getting close to this shit right i need this is this cannot we cannot abide but they look at this and they're just being like i don't know maybe we get fucking barack obama to run again like what the fuck i feel like that's what people are going to start pushing for oh yeah as you talk about on tomorrow's episode people are starting to talk about Hillary running again.
Starting point is 00:19:47 It's just an impossible situation that America faces heading into the next two elections because there's Trump on one side and then the other side is just so hopelessly out of touch with reality that I don't... Don't like our chances, Miles. Unless they're going to be like, should we rethink the 22nd amendment to bring obama back and you're like oh my god and somehow they they amend the fucking
Starting point is 00:20:12 constitution before they give people fucking minimum wage hikes or fucking voting rights like yeah i that seems more feasible to me yeah for sure because i think they're they i'm sure they understand what's happening it's like dude fucking this it's brutal if you're not wealthy or you have a like a white collar job or live in a specific part of the country where the economy like is is more diversified they're like and the solution is truly about supporting people. Like the answer to combating extremism in this country is creating more equity. But, you know, again, we're dealing with people who only know one fucking speed. And that's, you know, fuck you. Fuck you, pores.
Starting point is 00:20:59 Yeah. And then cheer season two. The trailer just dropped. We I was brought right back to it. Right back. You know, Monica's back. We got some of the greats, some of the characters that we've all been missing. Like Lexi Brumback, the platinum haired super tumbler.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Yeah. The like sort of rebel without a cause. Morgan is the one you were saying is kind of like like human embodiment of not being fully confident but then just gets coached through it and like nails it and then they're introducing a new like team a new coach who's like fully covering yeah yeah rather than just like the we're just focusing on one team yeah there's uh ladarius marshall is like the new coach who's like he's like just like i take shit seriously in football i'm bringing that to cheer and like it i like to see uh i like these kinds of shows too like i like shows where we can just focus on one team those have their merits
Starting point is 00:22:01 but there's also fun when you can see two like forces collide at the end um that i also love in a series yeah yeah so i'm excited you know yeah well speaking of mad talk jerry harris who was you know one of the breakouts in the first season you know he's in jail now for like all kinds like sexual abuse claims like child sexual abuse imagery charges that he's like in federal charges currently uh like in incarcerated for still or he's being held still yeah the most lovable character from season one yeah and they've seen it sounds like they don't shy away from it like they it's in the trailer they're pretty much talking about it yeah you have monica the head coach who is for people who haven't been listening for the past three years uh we went through a long love affair with the show cheer uh season
Starting point is 00:22:50 one of cheer uh monica the head coach it's about basically the if you're like a college football fan like what alabama is in college football this is that for college what if you're a football fan a professional uh patriots okay what if you like the nba that's a good question i guess it'd be the warriors now like right or like that era like five years ago warriors yeah yeah but anyways uh cheer is like the elite college cheerleading squad and it's community college in texas and it's dope it's if you didn't watch it i mean it's one of those things it's like the same thing of like what the formula one show did like it's a thing where you might have a basic idea of but when they get really into like really zooming in on it and seeing like what the all the dynamics are at play it gives you a you know a much deeper
Starting point is 00:23:46 appreciation so um hopefully this season two will be something worth watching yeah and it's like if the most if like alabama football had the budget of like a high school football team like that's what's wild is like people are getting like just destroyed, like getting injured horribly. And they're just like next man up. Like, let's go. It's pretty wild. Anyways, those are the things that are trending on this Wednesday afternoon. We are back tomorrow with a whole ass episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other.
Starting point is 00:24:19 Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. Bye. I'm Keri Champion and this is season four of Naked Sports. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry.
