Okay, the internet, and welcome to this episode of... The Daily Zeitgeist! Yeah! Or as we're calling it, the Nightly Trondevu. Or we could do the Zeitly Trondevu.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Yeah, Zeitly Trondevu sounds good. Yeah, there we go. Trondevu. good yeah there we go um we got there um that is courtesy of score josh score underscore josh man that is confusing s-c-h-o-r underscore josh but score underscore you knew what you were doing josh come on man the hell's going on here that amateur stuff out of here alright let's tell the people oh I'm
Starting point is 00:02:52 Jack that's DJ Danil that's me baby you need a drop man I'm telling you you need a drop alright I'll make a drop DJ Danil on the track wow I just gave it to you I don't know why I said you need to make one. I just gave it to you. I don't know why I said you need to make one because I just gave it to you, bro.
Starting point is 00:03:09 And I have that one. It's mine now. Christopher Plummer is trending for the worst reason to be trending. The worst reason a good person can be trending. R.I.P. to a real one. 91 years old. Passed away.
Starting point is 00:03:26 He was the old gent in Knives Out. I was. Yep. Yeah. He was very. I mean that was the last thing I saw him in and he still had it. I stood up in the theater. I said still got it plumber.
Starting point is 00:03:43 I remember. I think I was at that one and I told you to please yeah please stop please address him as Mr. Plumber yeah but I don't know if I can be as charming and not
Starting point is 00:03:57 dead as he looked in that movie at age 90 you know King Plummer and also I recently as he looked in that movie at age 90, you know, uh, King, Christopher Plummer. Uh, and also I recently watched him in what I think is one of his first, uh,
Starting point is 00:04:12 no noteworthy roles. Uh, the sound of music, uh, which hunk, uh, you can say that again. You can,
Starting point is 00:04:22 uh, I won't, but I could, uh, all right. Olivia can. I won't, but I could. All right. Olivia Wilde is trending. Yeah, what's this about? So people are saying, Olivia Wilde has a no assholes policy.
Starting point is 00:04:44 And this just raised for me a thing that I've been noticing where, like, that's a thing that every boss i've ever worked with has said that they have and but they are the one like that yeah and then they are of course the asshole uh but the the idea that uh we need a celebrity to say something before it eventually like and then we're like whoa a no assholes policy tight um i don't know i think it's just like we we stan olivia wild and so uh we will give credit where maybe none should be due on a on something as cliched as i have a no assholes policy it it screams uh as some would say the brunch left it's it's it's very much of the can we just go back to a brunch crowd to be to be surprised by the idea that no it should be a policy right on a job to not be a dickhead or an asshole in this particular case. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Yeah. So I saw that had made up my opinion, watch the video. I was like, actually, she looks really cool saying it. And, uh,
Starting point is 00:05:54 I bet she'd be really cool to work with. And, uh, so maybe I shouldn't say that, but I did. I mean, she's tight. So yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Yeah. Super tight. Um, yeah. Yeah. And Harry Styles isn't that cool. Not charming. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:06:11 That's not charming. Ah, he's so charming. He's so charming. I love that. His music is incredible. It's so good. Number one most charming, good-looking man in the world? I mean.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Disgust. Honestly, maybe. Somebody put out a list. I'll tell you who I mean, discuss. Honestly, maybe. Somebody put out a list. I'll tell you who it was. Actually, it was a thrillist.com. Okay. Put out a list,
Starting point is 00:06:32 their list of the best Super Bowl halftime shows from one to whenever they started doing it. Okay. And I thought it was a fine list um of the ones that i remembered they all appeared about where i would have put them um oh well given the picture i have a feeling i know what the number one is and i think i'm tempted to agree yeah it's uh mar 5. It is number one with a bullet, baby. Number one with a bullet. I forgot Big Boy came out with Maroon 5.
Starting point is 00:07:11 That is number 25, so not near the top. There have been, they're ranking 28 of them. Phil Collins gets the worst ranking, 28. Ouch. Ouch. There's an Indiana Jones themed one. What? That comes in at 26.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Wow. Maroon 5 is the worst of the modern era of ones that have happened since we've all been sitting back watching things happen and talking amongst ourselves on social media. Uh, black eyed peas, also a, a low, um,
Starting point is 00:07:53 the who I was happy to see. They also thought sucked. Um, cause that, that was bad. It seemed the sucky ones get their sucky, uh, deservants on this,
Starting point is 00:08:04 on this list. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. The Coldplay one, also a low. The Rolling Stones one, also a low. And I was on board with that. The Justin Timberlake... The Justin Timberlake halftime show, they have pretty low.
Starting point is 00:08:20 They also have the Lady Gaga one pretty low. I think I liked both of those i think i liked the justin timberlake one personally but i don't know maybe i was just having fun i think that was when we had just started the network and we had a bunch of great folks uh diva lacy uh jakees all over at the house uh so that was just a fun one super producer anna hosnia was that before your time on the network the super bowl thing dj danil oh i thought you were you said anna hosnia and then i said was that before your time oh yeah i was like are you addressing she's not here i thought you're talking about me and i was like you do remember
Starting point is 00:09:02 i'm the first person you hired right no i was i was addressing you did you come to that super bowl party um yeah i think that was actually one of the first uh that was one of my first instances of interacting with other people on the network it was fun oh that's right can i just say i have a very clear memory of daniel dancing to jt and i was like who is this guy I genuinely remember thinking that I'm like I guess that's Jack's cousin I heard he's gonna work with us soon this guy loves to dance to JT I'm not even joking I'm not yeah I believe it I believe it literally a billion percent yeah um let's see Madonna is down there. Bruno Mars. And then we get into they have Jennifer Lopez Shakira at 13.
Starting point is 00:09:52 I thought they were a little better than that. I thought that was like, yeah, nice. They have Paul McCartney ahead of JLo and Shakira. Get the fuck out of here. Yeah, I don't I don't I don't vibe with that even a little bit. The end. The only thing that's like, I mean, I think their reasoning for putting Katy Perry at number seven, the Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz, Missy Elliott one,
Starting point is 00:10:11 saying, left shark forever, blah, blah, blah, all of this. And the bottom, Missy Elliott gives a pleasantly game performance. This was literally when Missy like came back onto the scene released three more songs it was like a rebirth of missy elliott allison stoner her famous dancer was literally at the show that was a lit a show saving performance from missy elliott right there and to say missy elliott gives a pleasantly game performance yeah i would have put that one near closer to the top i thought katie perry one was iconic yeah uh the performance was good yeah it was very like very strange and singular and missy elliott coming out and being there was dope i think i have a just a bias against
Starting point is 00:11:02 like classic rock icons because they also have like bruce springsteen near the top and i'm just like i don't really like we we know what a bruce springsteen show is we don't need to see what it looks like as a super bowl show um beyonce at number five i think beyonce katie perry should be closer to the top. Diana Ross again. I don't even remember it, but you too in February, 2002 is that number two for them. And I'm not in, I'm not,
Starting point is 00:11:38 I'm not buying it. They're, they're making a big deal about how it was like right after nine 11 and we were all like together as a nation um but yeah we i don't know we were that's true everybody was like this is a big sucking off of bono here and i think that's just like unnecessary but at number one they did get the correct number one which is prince 100 thank you uh thank you thrillist i'd say number one prince number two uh beyonce was i think an iconic i feel like that brought her to another level of fame yeah yeah because she just nailed it so hard uh i also think the Aerosmith NSYNC Britney Spears Mary J. Blige Nelly one
Starting point is 00:12:26 was kind of a classic. Very interesting. Britney Spears was wearing a tube sock on her arm. Yes. Good times, man. That was the style. That was fire. You look good. Oh, yeah. And also a reference to all the
Starting point is 00:12:41 dudes wearing socks. Right, of course. I was going to say the fact wearing socks. Right. Of course. On the end. Oh, I was going to say all the fact that she was like a pinup girl masturbation fantasy. Oh, Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:54 A deeper, a way to go deeper and grosser. Wow. Yeah. Uh, that, that was my read of the Misen scene of that, uh,
Starting point is 00:13:04 Superbowl halftime show uh which is all to say uh the weekend is uh making his bow this weekend and we'll see we'll see where he falls um i don't know i've never like heard a thing like oh man the weekend show was so tight have you is that a thing is he like a good live performer at the um i remember his coachella performance when he was playing before drake when it was like the second headliner and he had a lot of like stage money to play with i remember the performance being really good but him being a kind of static performer what was like a lot of really like really you know good performance like he was
Starting point is 00:13:47 a good performer or rather he's a good singer he sang really well but it was kind of like just static a lot of standing in the same place and letting the set do the work and it was a really cool performance but in terms of like I don't know halftime show I'm pumped for the weekend we'll see
Starting point is 00:14:03 Phoebe Bridgers, the very talented, exciting musician, had a story to tell, just adding to the... This kind of perfectly encapsulates what I was trying to say when the Marilyn Manson accusations came out. and accusations came out. And he, despite all the goth and like, I'm a freak who your parents are afraid of, he's very frat boy.
Starting point is 00:14:36 His sensibility has always seemed very frat boy. And Phoebe Bridger said when she was in high school, she was invited to his house. And he was like, and that's the rape room. And she was like, I didn't know if that was like a, just his fratty sense of humor or what.
Starting point is 00:15:00 But like now I believe like I fully believe everything that's been said, obviously. But yeah, it just seems like he was using the goth exterior to just be a shitty rat boy. That's horrible. In the worst sense. That's awful. And finally, Trayvon Martin is trending because today would be his 26th birthday.
Starting point is 00:15:25 Yeah, I don't know. If you ever lack the courage of your convictions as somebody who is to the left or a progressive culturally in America, just remember Trayvon Martin and the conservative media response saying he was no angel, and then the court system that,
Starting point is 00:15:45 uh, let his killer go. And yeah, he would have been 26 today. Still just a baby. And, uh, fuck man.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Really, uh, really wild that that was that long ago. And that still, uh, things are as bad as they are. 26 is not old. No.
Starting point is 00:16:08 It's the very beginning of your life. Anyways, those are the things that are trending this Friday afternoon. We are back on Monday with a whole ass episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Stay inside.
