Trust us, it's out of this world. Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Tossed Salads and Scrambled Trends. Did you know that that song was actually performed
Starting point is 00:02:18 by Kelszeit Grammar? No. Not written by him, though, which is how i had filled it in because i just wanted to believe frazier was a real polymath genius no uh turns out not him not him giant head though on that man maybe our biggest but healthy healthy healthy healthy cranium yes on that man that's that is uh the thing that like makes somebody like get gets you over the hump to be like okay you can be an actor you have to have like a head that is like you know uniquely large but i've never seen a ranking of who which celebrities have the biggest heads like by proportion to their bodies. Yeah. Like,
Starting point is 00:03:05 is there like someone who's like a set, like a wardrobe person who like has had to like measure a lot of celebrity heads for like wigs or hats. And they're like, yo, this guy wears a fucking size 15 fitted. Yeah. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:03:21 How you do that? I heard it was Cameron Diaz has a, has a very large head for oh good for her body size hey shut up i got a big head too you know shut up big head big head is cool i'm not getting acting work is my point yeah i got a fucking weird ass skull in the back man got these parts that protrude i don't know if it's added brain space or whatever but yeah no that's how you should get that checked out but that's what kelsey grammar like some of the some of the people who have big heads like they they don't you know they don't look like they have big heads when they're on the movie screen but kelsey grammar reads as big-headed motherfucker um yeah and you know
Starting point is 00:03:59 big head todd and the monsters that dude didn't have a big head. Real tiny. Yeah, real tiny. He was overcompensating. Controversial. All right. Well, I'm Jack. That's Miles. And these are some of the things that are a trend in. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Arizona is trending. You seen this? Cary Lake. Cary Lake. Look, it's pretty much a done deal. The rap. For the Arizona gubernatorial race the lake has dried up the lake's gone dry but that hasn't stopped the maga people of arizona from being like
Starting point is 00:04:33 there's something wrong here and there's just this one clip that just tickled me because there's this maga dude this white guy with dreads who's like trying to give a really serious like he's trying to like intellectually own like the maricopa county board of supervisors this guy shows up he's the same dude who was like the number one clip when we were first seeing that they had invaded the pta meetings uh mr white dreads yeah mr white dreads i mean this could be his brand but i just want to i want you to see this where he he really thinks like he you know this guy rehearsed this like stupid rant uh before he got up there and it just it just does not it ain't hitting buddy but go ahead once again the eyes of the world are upon maricopa county again just picture a dude with a neon green shirt on and some crusty dreadlocks saying this
Starting point is 00:05:28 for another botched election am i here to accuse you of stealing the vote heavens no for that would make me a terrorist wouldn't it let me ask you if you took your life savings to a bank and the teller put them in a machine and the machine kicked out one out of four of your bills and the teller said, don't worry, we'll put them in box three over here and we'll let you know how many were in there later. We'll send them off to a separate location and someone will be sure to get back to you and tell you how much money you have. Would you be okay with isn't that how it works yeah no you oh i wouldn't yeah sorry no i meant no oh okay so i i thought because normally yeah you go to the bank and then you deposit it then you don't see that money anymore it goes somewhere i do i demand that they give me
Starting point is 00:06:19 a video feed where my money went all the time where'd that go where'd that go where'd that go where that's mine that's mine don't fucking don't mix that up with the other bills that money has to stay but i need those exact bills sir like that fucking that stupid thing that like dominoes would do or like you could watch your pizza get made like you know like in real time like but yeah where where my check go they're like bro uh anyway so that shit was so dumb i believe or no with for to with i would become a terrorist heavens no like okay so he's talking about voting wherein you go in you cast your vote it goes somewhere that you don't get to keep an eye on it you don't get to keep an eye on it. You don't get to like follow it up the blockchain to make sure that like that every single time that I voted,
Starting point is 00:07:09 it's been a process of putting the vote into a machine and then assuming it was getting counted. That's every, that is voting. That's what voting is. Unless it's like, well, all right,
Starting point is 00:07:21 the family's going to vote on what's for dinner tomorrow night. You know, like that, that's the only vote where you can see a one-to-one result right his metaphor isn't great but again it sucks miles your dreadlocks are even worse so i don't know what we expected from you sir isn't he like we we need a we need to do a dive some background on this guy because i'm pretty sure he was also at one of those pta meetings and really lost his mind on the mic theatrically. Or it could just be another dude with white dreadlocks. I mean, there's probably a good overlap between white guys with dreadlocks and then leaning into the MAGA thing.
Starting point is 00:08:01 Because they're like, bro, if I get too woke on this shit, I will realize my hairstyle is problematic. So I'm going to just go kick it over here. But I was literally just thinking about this specific guy or the other white guy with dreadlocks that I'm confusing this guy with because like, as the election results were coming in and people were like, oh, right. Everybody thinks they're weird. Like most people are scared of that oh you know what he okay this guy has also showed up at a san diego county so this guy's just a fucking traveling traveling burnout san diego county someone they described in this one article said looking like some rastafarian hulk hogan yeah and he was talking about oh here you want to you want to hear past performances all right this is him it was about covid yeah
Starting point is 00:08:53 open a pit of hell you do not get a vaccine passport put on us you know as the population who's in control you know that the people are the politicians all right anyway so and also oh that's him at a proud boys rally okay cool um anyway so yeah the true thought leaders um that was my google search for arizona white guy dreadlocks pta and that's how i found that article because of all these white dudes are dreadlocks then there's him in the bottom corner matt baker true king oh yeah but that so that that was the thought i was having as like the results are coming in and people were like yeah so like a lot of people the vast majority of the country see that and they're like oh right this is very strange and not a thing i'm on board with right yeah yeah i mean they're freak i mean look they're scaring off the normal people
Starting point is 00:09:50 every day off the norms yeah well uh nancy pelosi speaking uh has said she won't be seeking leadership position in the next congress good for you nancy thanks for the memories so what is who who what who's coming after nance i don't know maybe hakeem jeffries um we'll see uh i don't look no one's gonna step into that leadership position who's gonna be like all right man let's fucking let's start shutting this shit down properly uh so whoever i mean it'll be the next you know democratic standard bearer you know but I will give Nancy Pelosi credit you did oppose the Iraq war you know that's worth something
Starting point is 00:10:30 did she really? yeah I'm okay Nancy and also was smarter than Donald Trump I mean you did provide him with great frustration so I will point out those things yeah there's a reason he hated her so much not about like and it wasn't just because she was a woman uh although that is usually the
Starting point is 00:10:50 like the criteria for donald trump to hate somebody uh but yeah she i look the you were the speaker you did some good i won't speak ill i'll just say thanks for taking the chill all right oh nice yeah see that was that was a whole that was a high school that was off dome congratulations i was i would look i'd be lying if i didn't say i was preparing for this you've had her yeah uh eulogy written britney griner is trending yes um she's been moved to a penal colony after two weeks of not knowing what is going on yeah it's fucking it's fucked up man this penal colony one of the people that was in pussy right was talking like who had also been in a penal colony she was saying like it's fucked up like you're talking 16 hours of hard labor no medical treatment they torture you on
Starting point is 00:11:43 top of that the member of pussy right was like dude not speaking russian and being in there is going to be even fucking harder because you're not going to understand like all the rules and shit and they're just it's just it's it's fucking awful jesus crazy so yeah like you just it's it's fucked it's so fucked up to just keep reading about this and you know this is all just like this is probably one of the yeah i'm sure the russians see this as like some kind of pawn they can use to try and force some kind of concessions but it's yeah right increasingly becoming the only leverage they have like on the world stage because they're fucking things up so badly yeah i mean they were just recently were like thank you the pentagon for not immediately
Starting point is 00:12:22 pointing the finger at us for that missile that went into poland although that's getting controversial now like ukraine is like it was russia wasn't us thank you for blaming russia or you should be blaming russia um so that's why war is so cool dude that is that's why war is tight um just kind of you're always getting you're always getting straight talk from everybody. But I mean, again, yeah, this is just, just the timing of her arrest was just so fucking, you could see why they wanted to make an example of her. But I hope there's an actual desire from the US government to try and figure out a way to get her out.
Starting point is 00:13:01 It does feel like the NBA needs to be doing more. I don't know. I mean, you look on Twitter, more people are fucking trying to cape for Kyrie and shit. Yeah. You know, it's like that's fucking the energy is so misplaced. Like this is this is this is these are these stakes are fucking real for her. And it's, you know, being
Starting point is 00:13:18 in a fucking penal colony, you know, which, you know, remember in the 80s when they're called gulags. Right. Prison is fucked up. Yeah. All right. colony you know which you know remember in the 80s when they were called gulags right um prison is fucked up yeah all right let's take a quick break we'll come back we'll talk karen bass and we will talk the red cup rebellion at starbucks when you think of mexican culture you think of Mexican culture, you think of avocado, mariachi, delicious cuisine, and of course, lucha libre. Hey, I'm Bruce Bozzi on my podcast table for two. We have unforgettable lunch after unforgettable lunch with the best guest you
Starting point is 00:16:38 could possibly ask for people like Matt Bomer. Thank you for that introduction. I'm going to slip you, slip you a couple of twenties under the table for that. Emma Roberts. When it came into my email inbox, I was like, okay, I know I'm going to love this so much that I don't even want to read it because if I can't be in it, I'm going to be bummed. And Colin Jost. You know, your wife was the first guest on Table for Two. It's come full circle. As long as I do better than her, I'm happy. Table for two is a bit different from other interview shows. We sit down at a great restaurant for a meal, maybe a glass of rosé, and the stories start flowing. Our second season is airing right now, so you can catch up on our conversations that are intimate, surprising, and often hilarious.
Starting point is 00:17:22 surprising, and often hilarious. Listen to Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. Karen Bass is like the mainstreamist of mainstream Democrats. This was not, you know, I definitely voted for her. This was not a race that I was like, you know, particularly passionate about other than that Rick Caruso not
Starting point is 00:17:51 win. And now that he has not won. Yeah. It's very funny to me. Yeah. This billionaire dipshit, master of the universe who had convinced himself he became a billionaire through just being that much smarter. And therefore, he's going to run for mayor and solve all the problems. And he just got out there. Outspenter 11 to 1. Yeah. Outspenter 11 to 1 put $100 million of his own dollars into the campaign for an office that isn't that powerful. And yeah, I got him. You love to see it.
Starting point is 00:18:30 This is where I need an interview with Rick Caruso just to take those tears off his face. I mean, but also, you know, I'll give it up to you. She's the first woman who was elected mayor of LA. Yeah, for sure. And we're the second black Angeleno who's been mayor in the city. A lot of people are saying that she's been very successful at every job and probably underrated how much I should have been celebrating her win.
Starting point is 00:18:54 But yeah, well I think, you know, at the end of the day, like as, as we've seen was just everything that happens in the city council. Like we have so, we have such real problems that there's,
Starting point is 00:19:03 there are a lot of things that feel like big victories, but the thing that would really, I think, warm the hearts of people who want to see progress is like, are you going to move away from enforcement when it comes to solving the unhoused crisis? Are you going to help be the face of that as the mayor, or are you just going to be like, I don't know, what do the cops want to do? Right. Okay. Yeah, yeah yeah yeah um so
Starting point is 00:19:25 you know be a voice for good although you know you definitely she was she was she was playing both sides when it came to like measure ula and stuff it's like i don't really need more yeah and also like didn't didn't seem like on board with solutions that involved crossing the police unions and but you know in addition to her winning which was definitely the preferable outcome we we also so ugo officially won got the daily zeitgeist bounce that uh political strategists have been talking about yeah you know um and also uh ula i think passed yeah and so it's yeah it's good it's it's good news passed and so it's good news it's great to see
Starting point is 00:20:08 just yeah long may it last keep the fucking progress going and you know see where we end up but yeah good riddance to Rick Caruso and like oh yeah Villanueva got his ass whipped oh yeah yeah he was crying up there
Starting point is 00:20:24 did you see him crying yeah yeah i saw some great footage of him scroll on election night scrolling through the results and just doing like cartoon like what in the heck yeah responses to his uh campaign strategist he was definitely the like true detective matthew m McConaughey smoking a cigarette meme, looking at the phone like, oh, shit. But, yeah, man, he was like, the deputies are the real heroes. Man, shut up. Get out of here. Shut the fuck up.
Starting point is 00:20:53 See you. All right, let's talk Red Cup Rebellion. Yeah, man. So it's Red Cup Day at Starbucks, which I was out of touch with. But this is apparently the day when you go to Starbucks, get a reusable red cup yeah if you order a holiday drink and it's limited a dish and you know you can order more drinks with your new red cup or you know save the ashes of a family member whatever yeah whatever however you want
Starting point is 00:21:20 to use it but it's also the busiest day like Like it's the worst day to be a Starbucks employee. 100%. And they've chosen the right day to actually turn out and pick it. Yeah. So workers at more than 100 stores went on strike today, disrupting one of Starbucks' biggest days of the year. And it's also their 25th anniversary. The unions are giving out their own red cup,
Starting point is 00:21:42 but instead of the Starbucks logo, it's the union logo on an ornament being held by the grinch there it is which yeah it's just a it look this is all part of trying to get starbucks to actually begin to bargain in good faith uh because all we've seen is just just full scale fucking union busting, attempted union busting. And it seems like the National Labor Relations Board might begin to do something about it. So we'll see. But again, I mean, I think massive, massive shout out to those workers for organizing and making it known that you have needs, you have demands, and they're not being met.
Starting point is 00:22:24 So, you know, fuck your little Red Cup day. Yeah. I can only imagine the absolute miserable fucking people who are pissed off today. Oh, yeah. Who are like, I don't understand what's going on.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Like, you don't work at Starbucks forever. I saw some tweet like that. It's like, I'm sorry, what does that even mean? Wait, what did they say? Like, not understanding why people are upset that Starbucks sucks at a job a job because like it's only a stepping stone to like another job right like why would you do until your dad's friend lets you help run his car dealership
Starting point is 00:22:56 yeah what the fuck like just to get back on your feet because you crashed your third audi in fucking six months right but yeah i think think it's a good time to remind yourself that, yes, these are real stakes for the human beings that work around us. And at a minimum, getting a living wage and time off and things like that, it's got to be the standard
Starting point is 00:23:18 rather than this thing that people need to fucking spend all this energy trying to get. Was that a true story about people voting in that connecticut town to like get their starbucks to work faster i don't know that can't be real yeah i i mean it sounds like possible because we live in such a fucking weird timeline yeah but i don't know is that crumble connecticut but i i don't know the the only sourcing i have is folks are saying on social media so it's probably not real but it does feel like the general vibes of the response that i'm seeing in
Starting point is 00:23:52 some in some cases to the to the strike is like well if you worked faster maybe starbucks would pay you more yeah you know people we just have to let go of our like need for instant gratification just societally like we we really have to begin dismantling our like need for instant gratification just societally like we really have to begin dismantling that so people aren't like why am i waiting this isn't convenient right and stop treating every idea that isn't focused on financial growth as not realistic or uh okay jack okay enough enough kid talk enough kid talk let the people who pay the fucking bills figure this out alright well those are some of the things
Starting point is 00:24:28 that are trending on this Thursday November 17th we are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show until then be kind to each other be kind to yourselves get the vaccine get the flu shot don't do nothing about white supremacy and we will talk to you all tomorrow
