Starting point is 00:02:01 Hello, the Internet, and welcome to this episode of trendy got trendy gra zeichend line yeah uh it's courtesy of no clue on the discord shout out that's a marty gra second line there you go reference i'm jack you're miles this is what's Trending. More proof that Elon Musk is a fucking cool dude. He and his brother are under investigation for alleged insider trading. Yeah. What? The ins... Them?
Starting point is 00:02:41 I didn't even know. There was like... This sounds like fucking... What were their brother brothers names in face off uh caster troy and uh pollux yeah like elon musk and kimball kimball and elon musk detective john kimball okay kimball um wow he sold 88 500 shares the day before uh elon kimball sold 88,500 shares the day before Elon. Kimball sold 88,500 shares the day before Elon tweeted about selling 10% of his stake in Tesla. So might have had the old tip off from my brother.
Starting point is 00:03:18 Yeah. Who would have thought? Not me. You know, not me. They seem like they just always looking for a fair shake. You know? Right. Other than the diamond mine or ruby mine or mine or emerald, emerald mine that they were born with in apartheid South Africa.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Because I got emeralds in my pocket and my brother is named kimball see boom nailed it boom anyways i i would just hate to see anything the least bit challenging happened to elon musk yeah would hate to see that it's just haters dude yeah it's exactly dude they're just hating dude i this this is the problem with the sec they're just a bunch of fucking haters dude because we're just balling out of control that's why i have a quote by elon musk on as a bumper sticker don't even remember what it is i think it's isn't it a scene of cps taking kids away from the parents and the the speech bubble says they're just haters. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Sick ass, sick ass image. Up next, we have,
Starting point is 00:04:26 uh, Anna Lynn McCord trending and not for the reasons that she's usually on all of your minds. Um, where is she from? Her turn, uh, on the reboot of 90210,
Starting point is 00:04:39 uh, as the villain, uh, miles, according to her Wikipedia page, it wasn't't a planned it wasn't planned to be a big role but by the end of season one people were writing about her as the lead of the show and yes she won a teen choice award but she's not trying to let that define her anyways a huge celebrity in some realms and she posted uh some poetry uh but like mainly known for acting but don't let that define her because she's also a poet who and don't she know it as all
Starting point is 00:05:19 amateur poets should do decided that she should take the invasion of Ukraine by Russia as a challenge and make it about herself. I mean, guys get your snapping fingers ready because I haven't watched this. I watched the first 10 seconds and was unable to continue. But super producer Becca has said that we, we must watch this for your entertainment. It might kill me.
Starting point is 00:05:50 But here we are. I couldn't get through the first like when you realize where this was going. But you know what? If you need to hear it, let's watch this person center themselves in something they don't need to center themselves in at all. Dear President Vladimir Putin. I'm so sorry that I was not your mother. Mm-hmm. If I was your mother, you would have been so loved,
Starting point is 00:06:12 held in the arms of joyous light. Never would the stories plight the world, unfurled before our eyes, a pure demise of nations sitting peaceful under a night sky. If I was your mother, the world would have been warm yo and joy and nothing would harm i can't imagine the stain the soul-stealing pain that the little boy you must have seen and believed and the formulation of thought quickly taught that you That you lived in a cruel, unjust world. Oh! I'm sorry. Oh my god.
Starting point is 00:06:47 Is that the end? Jack, do you see the way the world could be if I was your daddy? The internal rhymes. Fucking. Wow. Oh my god. That is a tone deaf poetry slam. Oh wow. Holy shit. that is uh tone deaf poetry slam oh wow shit is that the end because it says two minutes this is 40 seconds in this shit is two minutes and 20 seconds so i'm just let's pause here to think about what she um she sees vladimir putin and is like i wish i could be his mother angry angry men are scared
Starting point is 00:07:33 little boys who didn't hug their mothers enough i think it's kind of what this distillation is you know right and i get that sure that's probably true you have a terrible relationship with your mom could could go a number of ways but i don't know if the solution is you being his mom it's like the so we've talked a lot about the kim cattrall like uh scat video scat video where she jazz scatting is jazz scatting with her um husband She's like, yeah, like we have a great relationship. He's a jazz bassist. And I like to, you know, do a little scatting alongside. And then he's like playing a, laying down a tasty little lick on the bass.
Starting point is 00:08:20 And she's like the town, she bid to do and a scabby D D the town uh sheba did do and escaba dd the town never knew such a hullabaloo and it's very embarrassing it's like if that it was somebody doing something in the immediate aftermath of 9-11 and being like this sums up my feelings on that and you know it's wild because she's like very active too like it seems like she's very much into her activism and you know it's like anything like artists for peace and justice and like you know there's a lot of like activist stuff put on there but it's also it's interesting to me that on her wikipedia page was the daughter of a pastor, uh, like in Georgia. And she grew up in a trailer park where her parents,
Starting point is 00:09:08 uh, believed in quote, strict discipline in which she was not allowed to watch Harry Potter because it had witches in it. Yep. Um, so I guess that, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Cool. Anna Lynn McCord. I just, I feel like, let me just hear a little bit more. Let me just, just, just to get, make sure let me just just just to make
Starting point is 00:09:25 sure we're not just letting some genius piece of art pass us by because we're just too cynical is this why you now decide no one will get the best of you is this why you do not hide nor away shy from taking back the world it was it because so early in life all that strife wrapped your little body with feet okay you know what never mind yes yes i mean somebody get this in front of vladimir putin and i think we have uh we save lives um yeah i, very simplistic take on everything. It's not, Oh my God, these people are being displaced. No. The problem is I'm such a better mom than Putin's mom. And also, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:16 That's your take. Sick, sick, Annalyn. And also like the sort of American focus on like protagonist antagonist like rather than focusing on the many like faceless victims of what he is doing because he's a pathological narcissist it's it's like oh i just wish i could go back in time and hug this motherfucker um huh all right mask mandates uh the cdc uh will issue new covet 19 mask guidelines uh today may have already done so that will advise that most americans no longer need to wear masks indoors uh no longer need to more than welcome to i will continue to, uh, as is, you know, my want, but, uh,
Starting point is 00:11:07 there, you know, this continues the, uh, central kind of movement into a like endemic, hoping to get to the endemic. The number of cases have really, uh,
Starting point is 00:11:21 gone down while the number of deaths are still staying like flat and high which just feels so strange to me um i it i don't yeah the cdc has gotten they're real susceptible to outside pressure that's one thing we have learned uh throughout the pandemic uh and yeah i i get that they're saying the numbers are there, but it's like, give me something else to feel good about. I'm like, hey, the numbers are low right now, man. Right. Yeah, right now. And also just as many people are dying.
Starting point is 00:11:55 So what's the game plan here? Also, what are we doing? Like this is I don't know, taking turning it into this whole debate about like vaccines and masks and things completely erases like people in need from the equation because now everything's just centered around the debate about like your your people ppe you're using rather than like the financial insistence that people need that there's like you know massively, massively important. Cool. Yeah, I guess don't take your masks off, according to the CDC. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:33 It said that it won't be mandatory. So, you know. It's just I think that's what's so hard, right, is that there's such a lack of like transparency to know. And I get that science evolves as you learn more about something but there's like also just like these times when you can tell it's like no you can business interests are putting a lot of pressure on a political administration or governmental administration to do something a certain way and you're like that doesn't sound like science to me yeah Yep. So I don't know. Yeah. Teach their own. But I do believe, uh, the Raptors will still be playing with no fans in the,
Starting point is 00:13:10 in the stadium. Um, okay. They, they're going to open to 50% capacity starting now. So I guess we're, we're not completely alone, the United States and,
Starting point is 00:13:22 uh, our, you know, staunch socialist neighbor canada but we'll we'll see yeah um i just i i do like to check other sources because as you said american institutions tend to be very open to influence of uh people trying to make that money okay and miles i i mean uh we should we should mention just that since people this is an audio podcast but i can see what's going on behind you there are things being thrown into a
Starting point is 00:13:51 wood chipper um yeah hard drives hard drives all right yep don't worry about it eyes ahead eyes ahead no worries get to the next training story man all right man sorry actually we're gonna throw to a break uh and then i guess i guess we'll be back yeah let me talk to you really quick yeah let me holler i'm jess casavetto executive producer of the hit netflix documentary series dancing for the devil the 7m tiktok cult and i'm cleo gray former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high-control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling, first-hand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions. Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or, can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Sanner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote, what is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's
Starting point is 00:15:58 better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically Black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game?
Starting point is 00:16:55 And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. This summer, the nation watched as the Republican nominee for president was the target of two assassination attempts separated by two months.
Starting point is 00:17:27 These events were mirrored nearly 50 years ago when President Gerald Ford faced two attempts on his life in less than three weeks. President Gerald R. Ford came stunningly close to being the victim of an assassin today. And these are the only two times we know of that a woman has tried to assassinate a U.S. president. One was the protege of infamous cult leader Charles Manson. I always felt like Lynette was kind of his right-hand woman. The other, a middle-aged housewife working undercover for the FBI in a violent revolutionary underground. Identified by police as Sarah Jean Moore. The story of one strange and violent summer.
Starting point is 00:18:01 police as Sarah Jean Moore. The story of one strange and violent summer. This is Rip Current. Available now with new episodes every Thursday. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. The whichever thing was Duke, obviously i know jack and tell everybody how sorry you are about spreading disinformation so i'm so sorry about the beloved leader i my mom didn't hug me enough as a kid jack if i was your mother
Starting point is 00:18:39 if only all right uh katanji brown jackson is trending this is biden's nominee uh to be the next supreme court justice the justice that replaces briar yeah and the first black woman to sit on the supreme court if confirmed if confirmed and i think i mean you know the senate split i don't hear democrats saying that they're not on board. You know, a lot of people have pointed to the fact that when Ketanji Brown Jackson was going to the appeals court, like Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins and Lindsey Graham voted to confirm. But that doesn't always mean that, you know, with the way the Republicans are, it doesn't mean that then they'll be like, okay, sure. For like the end game court game that we love to play with. Um, but yeah, it's going to be, I think, you know, obviously
Starting point is 00:19:35 from the historic nature of it too, it's, she's like, I believe one of the few justices like in the history of the court, or I think for a minute and don't quote me here but i know that she is rare in the fact that she served as a public defender rather than a prosecutor for a lot of her career wow and that is already such a huge you know ideological shift from someone who goes like i go after people and i enforce the law on them to someone who is also kind of trying to defend people who may be innocent or need an actual fair trial. Almost seems like that should be a prerequisite. Lindsey Graham has already responded being like, this is a pick because Biden gave in to the pressure from the far left.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Is that black people? What? Sir, please. what sir please yeah he had a nominee he was pushing for uh out of south carolina which i'm sure was immediately disqualifying for whoever that nominee was like yeah i'm sure biden was like okay yeah anyways more to come on this story obviously but the democrats do have the 50 50 split plus vp so yeah should be able to get it done uh movies coming in march we got the batman yeah uh new pixar movie turning red we got a new sandra bullock uh rom-com what's that one it's it's called hidden city or forgotten city or lost city oh yeah the lost city the lost city with uh shining to tomb yeah what
Starting point is 00:21:07 so channing tatum has had an interesting run where he just like dropped off for a few years and now is back as if nothing ever happened and looks exactly the same and i mean i guess that's fine what are you saying what are you trying to say no i was just like we're that's great that you can like press pause on your career a couple years to like how's he press pause come back looking the exact same i'm just saying uh was it was it part of a multi-year illuminati body body swapping case yeah i don't know i think it sounds like wasn't he like one of those people who's isn't like one of those people what i meant to say is he really wanted to like to be a parent or something or wanted to have more time with his family or did he like literally being like no man that people weren't fucking with me for a while oh i don't think it was that i don't think
Starting point is 00:21:57 he uh like thought that or that anybody thought he was like any worse or like not it just feels like he purposefully was like, all right, I'm going. What I'm saying, it's rare for people who are like ascendant and like, you know, high profile actors to take breaks.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Like, yeah, he's like caught in the, like the churn of just, you know, stacking them chips. Also Patty Harrison, a hilarious comedian is also in that film too.
Starting point is 00:22:23 Oh really? Yeah. Damn. Because I need to drink wine. So good, and I think you should leave. Yeah. Two amazing turns. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:35 You know, I love a Pixar movie. Luca was solid, but not as good as, like, some of the classics. And I'm into the Batman. I'm getting psyched to go back to the movies and give people dirty looks who are still wearing their masks in the theater. You know? And then finally, we got a couple world class dipshits stepping up and giving us their take on Russia's invasion of Ukraine. We got Charlie Weiss and tommy tuberville oh man great great football coaches man remember the remember the irish under charlie weiss or the
Starting point is 00:23:17 jets or whatever other charlie weiss the guy from he was like uh uh was he a bill belichick dude yeah i think he also yeah he was under i think he even coached at the patriots too right probably at some point anyway all that to say is i know him from those two things and i know tommy tuberville from politics and also politics but also know he's a coach but man their fucking takes on this russiakraine shit are spot on. First, Charlie Weiss, he says, quote, quote, I never tweet anything about politics. Okay, buckle up, y'all. But today is an exception. As I watch Russia continue their invasion of Ukraine this morning, I ask if Americans that want socialism are watching.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Do you want to be part of something like this? What does he think is happening? I don't know. What? Watching a dictatorship invade a socialist country? Is that like a threat? Is he like, do you want to get invaded, fool? Yeah, or he's saying like, oh, if you start providing things for people,
Starting point is 00:24:22 then Russia's going to invade? Right. Makes you weak? That gotta be okay right yeah or maybe i i think it could just be that he is old and stupid enough to be like russia equals communism equals socialism uh no because that's tommy tuberville with an even more distorted take on this this dude said first he's claiming that putin is invading ukraine because russia is a communist country that needs more land he said quote he can't feed his people it's a communist country so he can't feed his people so they need more farmland okay and that that is coming from literally nowhere that's not a take that i think dude it's like it's like it would be like me on an nfl podcast where like i'm using a very cursory knowledge of like the nfl to then like like trying to connect weird dots and i'm like well you know
Starting point is 00:25:26 belichick so everything that he's gonna do is cheating so that's why he's doing what he does just you know right deflate gate uh the ceiling sig you know i i was there for all that like it's like huh the nfl is like trench warfare miles and that's what you have to understand um they need more farmland that's wild uh and and so charlie weiss is just a retired uh shitty football coach he was not good at his job um and but tommy tuberville yeah is a politician now yeah yeah he has access to like facts and he's still out here saying shit like that out loud yeah like that's not even in his trump with the party wasn't like trump real pro tuberville oh yeah yeah he's a citizen of tuberville exactly and he's the mayor now but
Starting point is 00:26:26 he really thought he's like this guy's got something and also just more like the name is you know heat check he sort of said this guy's name's hot in the state you know in alabama so he can get it done but yeah um need more farmland yeah anyways. Anyways, I've been following for my Ukraine takes and updates. I've been following Sean McVay, the young coach of the LA Rams
Starting point is 00:26:52 because he's a winner and I just, I need my takes filtered through the brain of somebody who, who can win it, who can win a trophy. If you need a trophy. If you don't have a trophy...
Starting point is 00:27:07 Shiny thing. Yeah. If you don't have shiny metal, can't listen to you. Absolutely. Yeah. All right. Well, those are the things that are trending on this Friday afternoon. We're back on Monday with a whole ass episode of the show.
Starting point is 00:27:23 We're back on Monday with a whole ass episode of the show. We also have the weekly digest of TDC episodes, the weekly Zeitgeist that comes out on Saturday. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Wear a mask. Don't do nothing about white supremacy.
