Starting point is 00:01:51 Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio apps, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of trend don't break we've done that before and we're doing it again because we just realized like our democracy right have something in 16 minutes uh don't let them know we got come on we got a pizza hut delivery we gotta get we don't like it when it's been sitting out too long i'm jack you're miles uh yeah it is january 6th uh and so biden took a fucking flamethrower to this place oh sick dude fucking a how-to course in flambe uh with his fucking
Starting point is 00:02:37 speech just ripping trump apart without saying his name um and I get that. Don't give him, you know, don't gas him up by saying his name out your mouth, but, you know, kind of make it vivid and say his name, because I feel like, you know, you want to call people out, like, with your chest out. But, you know, he sounded serious. I'll give him that. Like, he was saying a lot of really
Starting point is 00:03:00 interesting metaphors, like someone trying to rob you at knife point and put a knife to your throat or some shit, a dagger to the throat of democracy but like action yeah action that's the thing i think that's what's like i'm i'm fully not one of these people who's like oh man he he sounded mad i'm like yeah he sounded mad but he's he could be like my grandpa in old age or like they're mad for 10 minutes then they forget what they're mad about right yeah and it's just he is the president i think right he's the president so like he should be able to ask he should be able to like do stuff pull a few strings to uh protect democracy what's interesting is like you know conservatives have or you know whatever this
Starting point is 00:03:41 form of republican party is no problem in just pulling levers and not giving a fuck what the fallout is. But, you know, that's the greatest, I think that's the greatest gift the Republicans have been given in Democrats is that they are too shook to do anything if they feel that someone's going to get pissed off about it. So just kind of keep tiptoeing towards another coup. Yeah. Or attempted. Triangulation. Hamilton is trending because, look, man, I really like Hamilton. As we were talking about before we started recording, that shit is just.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Yeah, not a bad musical. The music is good. And, you know the i i like history but nancy pelosi to commemorate january 6th through to the cast of hamilton singing dear theodosia which is one of my favorite songs from hamilton but it's just it's here let's just play the audio because it's like it's wild to think like we're talking about january 6th and then you're pivoting to, and now this. Hamilton singers, who we'll hear from, said that they were all very honored to be asked to participate today. I call your attention to...
Starting point is 00:04:59 A new year brings hope for the future, new energy to face the tasks ahead of us. This fool is clearly someday reading also but he's got they're playing on just a big screen yeah it's just a everybody like sort of self-taping to all right don't get it take that don't get us taken down don't get us don't get us removed yeah we're directly commenting on it that it's totally lacking in addressing the severity of the moment and wholly inappropriate. There it is. Commentary. Fair use to it.
Starting point is 00:05:32 The fuck are y'all doing? Commentary. Good. I was more concerned about the legacy of Hamilton. But seriously, I don't know. Like Hamilton has definitely had a and Lin-Manuel has definitely had a I don't know. Like Hamilton has definitely had a, uh, and, and Lin Manuel has definitely had a, uh,
Starting point is 00:05:47 I don't know. I was talking about how, like, I feel like Banksy and Obama should be like on the same Island together, just like partying it up and pretending it's 2008. Like, I feel like we might need to send Hamilton to that same Island. Cause they just,
Starting point is 00:06:01 you know, even though, uh, there's some good music in there. I feel like it has uh aged like a overripe banana a little bit just in terms of its cultural uh every place cultural everything but yeah i mean god oh god i hate to see it we're looking down the fucking just we're looking we're in a grim tunnel trying to find the light
Starting point is 00:06:26 and when we're looking for real answers tangible action it's like hey y'all want a distraction y'all want a circus real quick how about that yeah um i you know i think what would theodosia do right what would theodosia do anytime i hear a hamilton song now i'm gonna be picturing nancy pelosi just really like vibing to it and just being like yeah a single tear drops down she watches it's so yeah this is so good i like rap i mean i had an idea okay so they overturned the presidential election what if we send some of the hamilton singers to the supreme Court and they can sing outside the building while the armed goons round them up and arrest them for being propagandists? Like, what the fuck is this?
Starting point is 00:07:14 Yeah. But I get it. I guess the point was to soothe people or something, but it just feels. The song's about like the future of democracy and leaving the country in a better place than it was before for your children you do that like at a rebuilding of like a elementary school yes yeah you know that's when it feels nice to have the hamilton people come out not when not to commemorate like you know people fucking died yeah you know and like many were injured. And granted, like those people who were being reckless and got hurt, that's on them. But the situation is so grim.
Starting point is 00:07:49 I think it just feels it's just it feels flippant to then just be like, how about this? Yeah. And finally, Elmo still going, still going. The media controversy is ongoing as we mentioned yesterday an old clip of elmo yelling at someone for having a pet rock just pointing out that the pet rock wasn't alive channeling every frustrated parent and the shit that they wish they could say if they were really mean uh to to that rock so that it was just a funny clip but then elmo felt like he had to come out and make a statement being like, Hey,
Starting point is 00:08:29 me and I forget the Muppets name who had the pet rock, but we're still tight. Zoe. Zoe. Me and Zoe are still friends. There's many. There's Zoe. There's Susie.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Yeah. Got so many clips of him going off however fuck that rock i think was essentially the the sentiment he was like i don't want to talk about rocco so i all i'm saying is internet sleuths keep digging because uh he's he's hiding something i want you know i i just i just wish him peace um because we've seen these kind of these beefs out of like just spin out of control and people end up getting hurt and um you know elmo just we get it you know yeah all right let's take a quick break we'll be right back i'm jess casaveto executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult.
Starting point is 00:09:28 And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. Starting point is 00:10:59 is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it? Like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeahjection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Starting point is 00:13:24 I promise your taste buds will be happy you did and we're back and Ghislaine Maxwell I guess we haven't talked about it since it happened over while we were taking a little time off oh yeah but
Starting point is 00:13:44 she got found guilty and yeah so done and dusted can move on except oh there is a juror who um apparently uh i'll just read directly from the uh the straits times i don't know who uh where these articles are coming from the drudge report links off to some wild shit but um shocking uh the juror told reporters that he disclosed to the other members of the jury during deliberations that he was a victim of sexual abuse and further described his memory of those events according to the juror his disclosure influenced the deliberations and convinced other members of the jury to convict ms maxwell um which is like if the defense were
Starting point is 00:14:32 writing like a statement that one of the jurors could make to help them overturn or have a retrial or whatever like that that would be the statement yeah uh i mean good lord like in your mind because i was like oh wow that was quick i'm like okay so she might get got mysteriously uh because you know you're just never when you look at how much power is surrounding or the people who are potentially implicated uh with her words and what jeffrey epstein knew they're like it just feels too clean and then now you're like oh look a juror may have messed it all up so it might need to be retried yeah um yeah so that is uh not great but hopefully there's still some accountability
Starting point is 00:15:20 somewhere down the road alia uh is trending because there's a posthumous album coming uh this month from her estate which as we've talked about before uh is controlled by her uncle barry hankerson yeah and yeah not yeah not great not great yeah i mean and and again that's why everyone was like well you know the whole thing was like where's her music on streaming and it was because of the uncle and then we finally got stuff on streaming and now there's this album called unstoppable coming out and people are like oh shit okay this is like unreleased material this could be interesting then you look at how they're promoting it right it's they're they're talking about all these features that are on here but it's like snoop neo drake fucking chris brown no great future uh huh like the weekend is and i'm like where's i'm sorry i from what i remember
Starting point is 00:16:16 alia did a lot of had a lot of uh other like female artists you know featuring yeah on the tracks and this just felt it just i don't know it's like completely not what an alia album would be to me like missy elliott would fucking be on is should be on if this is an alia where's missy yeah that's that's like nailed on and we're all the people that she loved to collaborate with and you think of all the other people that are out there too like that you know if alia was alive now i think you have to look at it now she'd be wanted she'd be like working with other really dope singers yeah i'd be like where's fucking sizza right like sizza would be right she probably fucking collaborate with sizza
Starting point is 00:16:55 or her right or fucking solange or some shit but i don't know like i'm i it's always weird when you have these artists who pass and like, someone's in control of the catalog and it's like, Hey man, you want to hear this thing? And it's like, this is so far off. Like the people you got to produce these vocals,
Starting point is 00:17:12 like don't have completely misread what her whole catalog is about. So I'm, yeah, I don't know. Fucking Chris Brown on an Aaliyah album. Jesus. Yeah. Hard pass, please. Uh, and Djokovic is trending again. Uh, yeah i don't know fucking chris brown on an alia album jesus yeah hard pass please uh and
Starting point is 00:17:27 djokovic is trending again uh so this is an ongoing story last we checked in tennis star novak djokovic they won't they yeah so last we checked in he had been uh granted i think by the australian tennis uh you know commission or whatever a medical exemption uh with regards to his ability to play in the australian open uh because he's an anti-vaxxer and uh when he entered australia he was held uh at like a visa office and they were saying that he didn't have the right visa uh turns out australia was just like no fuck that you don't have the right visa. Turns out Australia was just like, no, fuck that. You don't get a medical exemption.
Starting point is 00:18:08 You can't come in here. Now he is remaining in a quarantine hotel in basically immigration detention as he awaits a decision, according to the AP. And that seems like the right, it seems like the right thing for them not to let him in but uh i don't know it seems like the longer something like this gets litigated the less
Starting point is 00:18:32 faith i have that it will come down to anything but uh who has the better lawyers yeah it just it's fucking tiring like it's a fucking l when you're like already bending the rules because you're not trying to upset your biggest star right and it's like what about there's a total disregard because i think there's no one can connect the dots to like reckless behavior like this there's no disregard for the people who have to clean up the mess you know like that whole the it's like well i'm not sick or like oh i i just got sick it's like you might not know how many other people you got sick right or understanding too that just by being part of this like uh movement of people who don't give a fuck about transmitting a virus that that makes things so much harder for health care workers like
Starting point is 00:19:22 i don't know if people have ever spoken to someone who works in a hospital recently this shit is terrible and it's like causing people that work in hospitals like fucking even like you know question their own belief in humanity um because they have to see all this grim shit over and over again uh so cool novak very cool more like novaks oh my god oh my god oh my god where did that come from i can't believe it that's uh maybe do you think that's where he got the idea i don't know i mean they do say like people who are named named Dennis tend to are more likely to be a sexual predator. No, to be dentists. And so maybe that's what it is. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Oh, people call him Novak's Joe COVID. Hell yeah. All right. The Internet stays undefeated. All right. The internet stays undefeated. All right. Well, in most cases. Those are some of the things that are trending on this Thursday, January 6th. We are back tomorrow with a whole ass episode of the show.
