Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. On recent episodes of The Questlove Show, I chatted with Jojo about her music and Wallo-267 about his story, everything in between. Don't invite me to karaoke. I'm going to make it weird. Someone's going to try to sing, leave it out, or too little, too late,
Starting point is 00:00:17 or baby, it's you. Oh, no. And I'm going to be like, okay, okay, cool. Check out my conversation with Jojo, Walo 267, and more on the Questlove show. Listen to the Questlove show on the IHeart Radio app, at a podcast or wherever you get your podcast. Peace.
Starting point is 00:00:34 I'm Fox Sports reporter Jenny Taft. And I'm former U.S. Women's National Soccer team player, Carly Lloyd. And on our new podcast, whatever it takes, nothing is off limits. I played with players that didn't truly love the game. I found the love with the ball at my foot. I don't care what I'm being asked to do at Fox. I'm going to go get some reps and love it and embrace it. Listen to whatever it takes with Carly Lloyd and Jenny Taft on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Do you love golf? If so, you should listen to Three Put Bogie. I'm Chuck Bryant from The Stuff You Should Know podcast. And I'm Adam Pranica from a couple of embarrassing hit Star Trek podcasts. And each week on Three Put Bogie, we're going to get into the bunker and get to the bottom of what is just so alluring and frustrating about the most beautiful game in the world. So whether you're someone who pipes it on the driving range, but freezes up on the T-box. Or misses that three-foot putt when everything's on the line. Whether to laugh about it with you on three-putt bogey,
Starting point is 00:01:34 a podcast about two mid-handicappers, one great shot, and the three-putt that spoils it all. You can listen to it now on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Did you think you were the only one? Like, no matter what you did, it was never good enough for your mother. I'm Jennifer Arnese, and this is the Black Mother Woon podcast,

Starting point is 00:03:01 on the Discord can I fuck up that pronounce it R Y U K-E-N Yeah I mean it's like You're trying to be both Ryyu and Ken
Starting point is 00:03:11 from Street Fighter What a combo Or Shored Yukan Hadolken Hadoken Hadoken Hadoiken
Starting point is 00:03:17 Um Anyway Have you seen the trailer for the new Street Fighter I saw a clip And I just kind of got bummed out
Starting point is 00:03:27 really it was so like maximalist not that I'm like I need a minimalist I need a minimalist street fighter I think it's sort of like
Starting point is 00:03:35 Eric Andre in there just like being the face of street fighter I hope they let him like actually get some Eric Andre in there and not just be like
Starting point is 00:03:44 guy who's screaming I just saw a fight scene like a clip of a fight scene with Blanca and I was like holy shit but I I mean look
Starting point is 00:03:55 I threw countless quarters away in a street fighter two arcade machine at my local 7-11. So, yeah, I'll probably end up seeing it. But my first reaction. Their maximalism maxing. Yeah. And you're max max maxing, dude. Max maxing. T.J. Max maxing.
Starting point is 00:04:10 I'm T.J. Max maxing. My name is Jack O'Brien. That over there is Mr. Miles Gray. Hey. And this is the episode where we tell you some of the things that are trending on this first day of October. Mm-hmm. Thursday, October 1st.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Oh, yeah. Happy October, T. Hall. Yeah. What's happened to the world of politics? Oh, you don't want to know. We're just a month out, Miles. Seems like the GOP is doing great. They seem comfortable with where they're at.
Starting point is 00:04:42 Yep, yep. Look, people are making their final cases to the voting public. Obviously, the House of Representatives, they called it quits early. just went back to their districts. And, you know, we've talked about it. Republicans are actually in disarray over the midterms. They are in power and they are just watching the economy go
Starting point is 00:05:05 poof because they don't have the spines to reel in the president. But maybe that's a cool magic trick. Maybe making the entire economy go poof is a cool magic trick that we could brag about. I don't know. I'm just spitballing back here. Yeah, I mean, I don't mind America not being the world's police as much anymore.
Starting point is 00:05:22 So, yeah, that can go poof for sure. I think for those of us that unfortunately have to toil in this country, could go both ways. But some Republicans, you know, they've jumped ship in terms of like messaging and they're saying stuff like, we are not like Trump on X, Y, and Z issue while others have just like hid from debate stages in town halls. So, you know, what is the Speaker of the House? What's his take on all of this? What's the message, the Speaker of the House, the majority leader in the House of Representatives?
Starting point is 00:05:52 What does he want to tell the fucking the people out there? And that's the angelized jackoff guy, right? Yes, that is Mike Johnson. Mike Johnson, the guy who has an app on his phone that he uses to... He may or may not still. Dead hand switch where if he looks at porn, it will message his son and let him know and show him the receipts of what he was looking at and vice versa. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:17 That guy. Okay. Very normal. Very normal. Also very normal. He has no bank accounts. which makes it incredibly hard to understand what he's doing with his money. I think a really underrated part about Mike Johnson's lore.
Starting point is 00:06:29 He has no bank accounts. Yeah, like he has very little financial, like formal financial records because of this kind of thing. And it's very, so people always like, what the fuck's up with this guy? Because of what kind of thing? Because he's just like, he's not a real person. Like he doesn't have a credit record. They're just like, yeah, man, we own you.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Essentially, you are a you are a figment of our imagination. He just doesn't list a, he just lists no bank accounts. Okay. All right. Yeah. I mean, I don't list bank accounts either. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When you have to do it's a discourse or a disclosure for a financial disclosure, he goes,
Starting point is 00:07:10 yeah, I don't know, I don't got anything. I don't got nothing. And you're like, how is that, whatever. So here's Mike Johnson saying, all right, well, so what do you guys? going to tell the people like gas prices are way too high. People are still talking about unaffordable health care. They're talking about ice raids. What can the people expect from the Republicans? What we're doing in the next two years is exactly what we have been doing already, and that is putting the conditions in place for a strong America can't. We restored not just
Starting point is 00:07:39 American energy dominance and peace through strength, but a vibrant economy. Stay the course. Sorry, one more time. Can you just say it again? But what we would do in the next two years is exactly what we have been doing already. Exactly what we've been doing. Already. That's, man, that is a fucking lukewarm. Stay the course, Captain Smith.
Starting point is 00:08:01 Yep, great. Edward Smith of the Titanic. Right. On this trajectory, so continue to watch people's retirement, string, cost of living to go up exponentially, that kind of thing?
Starting point is 00:08:14 I respect it. I respect it. You know, I think what they're going for is everyone's always like we need, you know, change. And they are delivering a rate of change that is beyond what anybody was expecting, except for, like, people who are paying attention. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:30 I think it's also a good way of acting like nothing's wrong, too. Okay. You know, it's just being like, oh, yeah, we're just doing the exact same thing. Because you can't, you don't want to, you don't do the thing. We're like, I get it, man. We can be doing more. Don't say that. Don't ever admit that.
Starting point is 00:08:43 So just say more of the same. I mean, Trump's latest move was just announced on Wednesday, like, where he's sending out $500 checks to almost a million Americans that were, quote, overcharged for Obamacare by sleepy Joe Byron. Okay. So, yeah, there, that does seem to be the only move he has. Not quite the $5,000. He promised everyone, but there's a whole, like a letter attached to it about how what he's doing and helping you, et cetera. I don't know if that's going to move the needle.
Starting point is 00:09:14 So anyway, make sure your registration is up to date. and if you're in a position to oust one of these fuckers, please do so because it's only going to get worse. And do we, because it does feel like, again, them being like we're doing more of the same, either they are delusional or they have some plan for just tipping over the table and being with this no fair. At this point, like election experts and watchdogs, they're based on what the president is doing, they're all looking at the sort of period. while votes are being counted. As the moment that Trump potentially could make a move to try and toss the results or cast dispersions over the results and try and get another January 6 going or something. I just, again, the stakes just aren't the same.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Every time he thinks he can get people in a frenzy over stuff, like he completely underestimates just how much their attention is on other things. Yeah. All right. Well, speaking of attention on other things, I would like to talk. about Mike Tomlin. Did you see... He's doing like a Roblox thing or something, Minecraft?
Starting point is 00:10:25 He just toured, like... So he is, for people who aren't familiar, I know we're not a sports podcast. He was the coach of the Steelers for, like, years and years. Like, well, almost 20 years? Almost 20 years. Widely believed to be one of the best coaches in the history of the NFL,
Starting point is 00:10:43 widely believed to be the most intense human beings. who has ever, who has ever, well, just like, he's the guy who, uh,
Starting point is 00:10:53 was always yelling, cut your eyelids off at his players. Uh, so like that's, that's, he's just like that sort of dude, you know? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:11:05 he's like, for how intense he is. Football coach is, football coach. Intense in like that way. Yeah, just like, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:13 his skin looks great. I got to say, yeah. Whenever I see Mike Tomlin, I'm always like, that can't be Mike Tomlin still. Like, I remember when Ben Ropoulosberger was the quarter and he was the coach. And he looked that way.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Still, yeah. Ben Ropoulosberger has aged millennia by comparison. He looks like a pear left out in the sun for three weeks. So anyways, Mike Tomlin, a man's man sports guy, just let the world in on the fact that he is a generational Minecraft architect. He took viewers on a tour of a. city that he has been working on for the last 12 years and it quickly became like at first people like, okay, what is this going to be? But like the way he talked about it, right. He just like has the,
Starting point is 00:12:02 he's like, and so it's very important to me that we actually have a realistic number of bathrooms because a lot of other like Minecraft cities, he won't have the proper number of bathrooms as compared to the number of rooms. So he, like, spends a lot of time, like, talking about, and then there's a bathroom that would actually, you know, function. He's got, like, big ideas about, you know, urban planning. He's, like, talking about this indoor, outdoor space where that would be, like, a communal living area for people.
Starting point is 00:12:37 12 years. And it looks like it took 12 years. Like, it looks. It is an incredible feat. of just time and effort and passion that I don't know it's just like you for the first time you feel like you have a glimpse into like who he is yeah it's just like it's wild I saw this image like on like probably I don't know social media somewhere when it was him and it's sort of like rooftops penthouses and urban living with Mike Tomlin and I was like
Starting point is 00:13:09 and I just like this can't be the same guy but I love to see see that he's he's so detail oriented that he's like great another thing that I can just pour my just crazy sense of detail into yeah perfect minecraft and look at this city he called it like therapeutic uh he built he's like very proud of the spa that he built into the ground floor of a building it's funny because like he's very fixated on bathrooms and having the right number of bathrooms but there are no uh uh kitchens anywhere which like If you, if you think about the life of an NFL coach, you know, they're probably just like, yeah, I've never cooked.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Only ever eaten takeout. Yeah, right, right. Or, like, at restaurants before. I was opening a styrofoam container. Yes. Yeah. And he's like, look, I'm not, I don't have good stick control. He keeps talking about that.
Starting point is 00:14:02 And like, as he's, like, giving you the tour, he keeps, like, bumping into walls and stuff and, like, spinning it around. But he, uh, he just loves, you know, it doesn't matter. It doesn't phase him. He's just in it. And he did it with his 19-year-old son who is, like, the one who's creating the video and who's like, the tour that he gave is 19 minutes long. He's like, this is going to be at least a two-hour series because of the amount of detail
Starting point is 00:14:32 and features that are in this city. Oh, shit. And he also talks about how when he dropped one of his sons off at college, she like saw a building on a hill and was like, I'm going to incorporate that. So he's like out in the world like thinking about. Getting real inspiration. Oh, that's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:14:51 It's just like to think about like. It's just when I hear him talking about Minecraft. The man who's very monocle of it does have the all the emotion of a like post game postgame press conference. Right. And like a older Gen X guy playing a video game. Yeah. I created a, you know, a city. and they spawned the city
Starting point is 00:15:10 and I just wanted to start around a body of water at the time I had no idea you know how big the city might get or whatever but I kind of wanted densely populated
Starting point is 00:15:22 buildings and so forth and so I started small and of course over the course of 12 years man neighborhoods and communities and so forth that's so
Starting point is 00:15:32 oh my God it's like you're talking to an actual founder of a city yeah he takes that time I had to start around a body of water, obviously.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Good for you, Mike. Yeah, he gets, like, excited about this building that is, like, kind of built around an aquarium, which is fucking sick. Like, that is also what I would have done. The amount of child, like, wonder in it, too. Yeah. Yeah. That's the right move.
Starting point is 00:15:58 You got to build your building across a bunch of aquariums. Why aren't there more apartment buildings that have, like, multi-floor aquariums running from one unit to the next, you know? I think it started where he was like playing over his kid's shoulder when his kid was like seven. And he's like, to me that, man. Look at your stick control all sloppy. Man. Cut your eyelids off, man.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Cut your eyelids off. City makes no goddamn sense, boy. And then it's like, all right. Why would that go there? When I get back from this road trip, I better see some fucking progress on the utilities. But he does like complain about, about like certain features of Minecraft. He's like this. They wouldn't let me reshape the typo.
Starting point is 00:16:39 topography, which made it very tedious and not fun for me. So it's just like, if only I were God. Yeah, yeah. But anyways, there's a good write-up of it and defector that we'll link off to. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. This record is on. Miley is having a moment.

Those are the very people who I always say vote against their own. economic interest and they complained about the very thing they're receiving. It's raw.
Starting point is 00:17:51 I knew that the issue of transgender athletes was not going well with a lot of black men. Roland Martin unfiltered. I went off, I said, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Y'all going to scream at Chanel, but you don't want to see a black luxury company in the same vein. Catch Roland Martin's daily commentary on the Black Information Network. 12 seats, those are moving south. So if you Democrats, you don't wait to 2030, you better be hitting the ground going hard in the south now.
Starting point is 00:18:24 And download Roland Martin Unfiltered on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts. Wherever you get your podcasts. A decade ago, the ethanol kingpin of Iowa became the king of corn in Brazil. So we met with a lot of larger farmers, went from Bahia to Tokatines to Montegro. And he brought a team of executives. They were going to help the country get in on a gold rush. Carbon and its derivatives are going to be really the next great commodity that the globe's going to trade. But back home in Iowa, trouble was brewing.
Starting point is 00:18:56 If you live in Iowa, your land, your water, and your voice could all be at risk thanks to a man named Bruce Rastetter. Now people are questioning if his climate solutions have anything to do with climate at all. You got to give Bruce and the guy's credit. They're Republican kids. They don't give a $1.00. on this season of drilled carbon cowboys, the story of how the ethanol kingpin of Iowa became the king of corn in Brazil
Starting point is 00:19:21 and what it tells us about the limits of technology and markets to solve the climate crisis. Listen on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The WNBA playoffs are about to begin. The talent is insane and the personalities are giving main character energy. And of course, the fans love it.
Starting point is 00:19:41 But 30 years ago, when the league first started, it was a different story. I remember sitting with a couple of male writers all whining about, oh, what are they going to do if they break a nail? No one's going to show up. But from the very beginning, there were two teams that captured everyone's attention. The comments were the real deal.
Starting point is 00:19:59 I mean, come on. The Liberty never gave up. They never stopped fighting. I knew that rivalry was going to be amazing from the beginning. I'm Kerry Champion, and this is biggest rivalries of all time, season two. the New York Liberty versus the Houston Commons, the very first rivalry of the WNBA. They picked us to finish last,
Starting point is 00:20:19 and they picked them to finish first. That's all you need to note. I remember looking around thinking, this is going to change things. Basketball was going to have this fundamental impact on the way people viewed women athletes. Listen to biggest rivalries of all time on the I-Hard Radio app,
Starting point is 00:20:36 Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Is there bad blood between you in the comments, as you guys meet again in the championship. Oh, we're coming back to win. And we're back. We're back. And let's check back in with Eric Schmidt. He's fine.
Starting point is 00:21:03 This morning's episode. We talked about his big moment. That he's fine, that we're talking about that he's fine, that he meant to do that. That's what I'm supposed to do. I was just asking questions. The guy's giving answers, man. There's nothing to see here. No, I was taking it.
Starting point is 00:21:18 It was a normal conversation. Find a new angle. So what was that about in there, Senator? So you know, like, embarrassing, there was an embarrassing moment for you? So that wasn't, like, completely humiliating? Is our head's going to roll for that? Somebody gave you the wrong information?
Starting point is 00:21:33 No, no, no, no, no, no. No, what are you talking about? I don't even know what you mean. Like, how could you even see that as embarrassing? Yeah, Senator Eric Schmidt. You appear to be weeping. Yeah, from your pants, mate. So Eric Schmidt really shit the bed
Starting point is 00:21:48 with his questioning of Jack Smith. this week. Just that dumb, one dumb moment has somehow derailed a lot of his political aspirations. Like this is like 2008 or something. For people who weren't listening
Starting point is 00:22:00 to this morning's episode, he was like, he, you could, you've never seen somebody with a more, like more confidence going and being like, he,
Starting point is 00:22:10 he had been convinced himself that Jack Smith was at a, uh, Atlanta Hawks game. Yeah. With Fawning Willis. And then it became clear. that the text messages that he had were actually referencing a Iowa Hawkeyes game.
Starting point is 00:22:26 And they just like didn't bother to follow through. No questions asked. Yeah, that's Jack Smith, special counsel who was looking into, you know, the overturning of the 2020 election in January 6th. And so for starters, the local papers in Missouri are laughing at him. This one says, quote, just when you think Eric Schmidt couldn't possibly embarrass himself in his constituents any more than he already has, he goes in for a rhetoric where 20%
Starting point is 00:22:49 layup, gratuitously throws an elbow, spectacularly misses the shot, and then stomps around the court indignantly when the ref calls a foul. This is the man representing six million Missourians in the world's quote, greatest deliberative body. Sheesh. He's still claiming that he knew the difference between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Atlanta Hawks. This time, he was defending his stunt to a fucking sports block. Wait, so just in the hypothetical world that he is proposing. So what did he think was happening? If he claims he knows the difference and yet he was like, you were at the Hawks game and
Starting point is 00:23:30 he was like, I was at the Hawk Eyes game. And he was like, oh, our entire attack falls apart. The prosecution rests. Yeah, I mean, we still don't know again because you go forward. Okay. So let's presume all of this was true. He was at Atlanta. he was at an Atlanta Hawks game
Starting point is 00:23:50 the day after Fonnie Willis announced this relationship with another prosecutor then? Right. It's not even that damning. They don't have anything other than that. And I think just to be like, I think they just want to be like, you guys are all colluding
Starting point is 00:24:06 together and going to a hawks game. It again, doesn't make sense. It's a kind of thing when like you have such QAnon brain and you get these little details and you're like, where was it? It's okay, there's a basketball game
Starting point is 00:24:20 and then this could be connected to Fannie Willis. Yes, this is it. So this is what he said to a sports blog. Quote, there was no confusion between Hawkeyes and Hawk. It was, hey, you were at a basketball game on February 2nd. Was that in Atlanta? Because that was the only
Starting point is 00:24:35 NBA game at 730 that night. I asked him a question if he was in Atlanta at a Hawks game. It turns out his testimony was he was somewhere else at a Hawkeyes game. So we had text messages of him being at a game, you know, on February 3rd, whatever that or February saying, whatever the day was.
Starting point is 00:24:50 So I just asked him if he was in Atlanta because that was actually the only NBA game with a tip off at 730 that night. He's just going over and over and over. So I was just saying because like I thought Yeah. So anyway, man, you do you though, bro. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:05 You're sick. That's his testimony. Whatever. I mean, again, I actually like Jack Smith. All right? I don't know why everybody's trying to make a thing between us. Yeah. I don't know why they're acting like I'm a hater, dude.
Starting point is 00:25:14 I have all his albums, man. Yeah. But by the way, You like the Sixers this year? What are your thoughts? Who you like this year? Changing it up. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:24 He's like, I don't like Braun commuting in a helicopter. I don't like that. It makes me a little nervous. It makes me nervous. You know what I mean? Just for him and his legacy. But again, like we're saying,
Starting point is 00:25:34 do a little research, right? Because in the text, it's like, is he in Section 109 blah? If you just look, is there such a section at State Farm Arena where the Atlanta Hawks play? No. Right.
Starting point is 00:25:46 No. That doesn't even line up. You were just so into the thing that like, there's a basketball game. Well, it has a 7.30 tip-up. It's in Atlanta. Holy shit, guys. I think we fucking broke the case.
Starting point is 00:25:59 This guy was in Atlanta. Yes. It's real internet detective shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. For sure. This is why internet detectives are also bad, just as bad as real detectives. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:14 I think, yeah, actually somewhat better because I feel like we see more regular people solving crimes. Yeah, before even the, they go up to detectives. Like, hey, I solve that cold case. Oh, yeah? Oh, pretty cool. What do you do? Your podcast?
Starting point is 00:26:26 That's great. So even, again, before that, Schmidt could have listened to his colleagues that were like, I don't know, man, this stuff isn't fully vetted that we got from the White House. This is from. There were some people saying, oh, so this came directly from the White House. They were getting all kinds of materials that they were gathering. And so this specific set that I think. Eric Schmidt was like, this could be it.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Quote, as they prepared for the testimony, a former special counsel, Jack Smith, Republican staff on the Senate Judiciary Committee gave Smith a warning. The text they had obtained, oh, I'm sorry, they got it from the Justice Department, but again, this is all,
Starting point is 00:27:01 they're all, they all have the same effort that they got from the Justice Department, which Schmidt suggested was proof. Smith had colluded with the Georgia State prosecutor, were, quote, unvetted. Schmidt used the texts anyway. His staffers.
Starting point is 00:27:16 and very confidently, so. And with props. Yeah, yeah, exactly. And let's just pour one out for the poor accessories to this fiasco, the people who held the props
Starting point is 00:27:28 because they're also catching straight. Yeah, they had printouts of the text messages with his face and Fannie Willis. Is that, was she on there? Yeah, yeah, yeah. She was on there.
Starting point is 00:27:40 I'm surprised they didn't just Photoshop it to make it look like they were kissing each other. Yeah, exactly. Or like, rubbing their mitts together, like in trench coats and like in dark alley or some shit. Yeah, the guy who was holding the poster, his general counsel, he is also, his career also might be wobbling here.
Starting point is 00:27:59 Quote, Ethan Harper, the general counsel to Senator Eric Schmidt was expected to leave his role on Friday and begin a new one in the White House staff secretary's office next week. But that transition was in doubt today following a congressional hearing that's embroiled Schmidt in controversy. I mean, he did also look pretty stupid because he put the text messages up and, like, made it so obvious that they did not know what the fuck they were talking about because he immediately took it down. He was like it was. There you go. There it is.
Starting point is 00:28:32 Oh, you didn't see that. I'm sorry. You can't read. It's proof positive that you're lying. I don't think you need to see it. I think I think you've already perjured yourself. You probably didn't know we had this stuff, this incorrect stuff. I don't think you knew we had these.
Starting point is 00:28:46 incorrect accusations that we were about to level at you and make ourselves look like complete assholes. God damn. That was amazing work. It's so quaint, though, that someone in 2026 could actually derail their career by acting like a fucking idiot as a Republican. Right? It doesn't that feel odd?
Starting point is 00:29:05 It's a new level of, yeah, just really, I don't, yeah, it kind of reminds me of the Ted Cruz, um, where he like does the, run up to the trampoline to dunk and then like only made shatters like yeah and then just falls flat on his stomach because it it has like such buildup
Starting point is 00:29:28 you know it's like this is it this is like hey do you mind putting on the bulls the Jordan era bulls uh intro music for me real quick as I'm about to uh take this motherfucker down with a slam dunk Yeah, it wasn't it.
Starting point is 00:29:47 Hey, how's the Hawks game, my man? It could be that, it could be that thing too where it's because Trump hates like really obvious humiliation. Like when Pam Bondi absolutely shit the bed, like when people absolutely shit the bed on TV, that's usually, that's probably what it is. Because that's right. Everything else is like, it's just the sort of steady hum of this party is just stupidity through and through. but it's like when it gets to the point where like everyone's laughing like it makes even people who don't know about politics are laughing at you then right sweep them to the back trump no one thing trump does know is good tv and this was the finest of tv it was such good tv like i don't think a
Starting point is 00:30:31 congressional hearing has ever been such good television as this moment where yeah a lot of people were just pointed out they're like this is like some shit out of veep like what the fuck is this but A, stranger than fiction. Let's talk crypto real quick, because that was a big part of Trump's, uh, 2022 for platform is that who's going to be the most crypto president of all the time. Mm-hmm. Yeah. The industry pumped like almost a quarter billion dollars into races that year since, you know,
Starting point is 00:31:02 the way that, you know, crypto backed Trump big, bigly, while also other Democrats, too, um, because they were hoping with Trump in office, they would get. their landmark legislation passed the Clarity Act. And that was basically a bill that was going to create a federal regulatory framework for crypto and ushering in a more like legitimized era for cryptocurrencies. And like for them, they're like, oh, shit, if this is the case, I'm like, we're going to be fucking making money because we've now have the full embrace of the government. And cut to today, crypto is no closer to getting that bill approved.
Starting point is 00:31:38 And the only person in crypto that has actually seen any meaningful growth is. Donald Trump probably. We found out, you know, earlier this year, he made $1.4 billion on cryptocurrencies in 2025. And then also, like, remember, he kicked off their administration with a shit coin that people were buying to. That thing, the value is completely cratered. So now the crypto fans are regretting their vote. I love this quote from this guy. Trump was the hero in crypto, like a couple of years ago. And now it's like the exact. exact opposite, Runifelt said in an interview.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Crypto already has a branding of, it's just a bunch of scams and scammers. And this didn't help because now even the top guy did the same thing that people hate. You know, scammed, scammed people. Yeah, you got fucking rug pulled, dude. Yeah. You know, and you guys know what, you guys know this shit happens. You know this is a huge part of this culture. Another guy who was in a focus group because they were like,
Starting point is 00:32:43 Trying to just do some focus group with, like, young people who were crypto-friendly who supported Trump. Quote, what they basically did was a money grab, said David from South Carolina. Why does he need to keep doing it? He's literally a billionaire. Like, how much more money does he need? It's a wonderful question. Yeah, I don't know, man. I mean, you know, the bulwark points out to Trump won 43% of 18 to 29-year-olds in 2024.
Starting point is 00:33:13 his approval rating with voters under 30 dropped to 19%. Oh, that seems bad, right? Yeah. So, like, was it, 81% of people 18 to 29 aren't fucking with it? And also found 63% are now saying they would vote for a Democrat now, just based on all this. I mean, it's just funny because this is a group. The crypto people are a group of voters with higher than average understanding of investing. Not to say that these are geniuses, but they understand.
Starting point is 00:33:43 what they're getting into on some level. And how the scam works. And what is a scam and what is an a scam? Right. Yeah. And how to avoid one. How to avoid being, they all know,
Starting point is 00:33:54 don't be, don't be the bag holder. Don't be left holding the bag, right? So that's probably why they're so vocal about their frustration because they, they absolutely know.
Starting point is 00:34:04 They're like, fuck, dude. This guy fucked up. What the fuck is wrong with? It is like the one thing that Donald Trump, okay, I'm giving him. some credit in this episode. One, he knows good TV. Two, he is a purely like financial scam
Starting point is 00:34:21 built and like he is good at scamming people out of money. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. That is his gift. Yeah, he's a salesperson. You know, created like the perfect opportunity for him to scam people and then been like, yeah, I'm sure this will work. Like, I'm sure this will work. This one's going to be different. won't surely he will have too much shame to actually scam all of us yeah people standing here holding the bag uh telling each other not to get left holding the bag i think he has a good whether or not it's intentional but the feeling is like the people around him and his own instincts they can tell when there's a group of people who just need to hear one thing to completely flip their worldview and be like oh fuck the moment's here yeah that's going to change my life so
Starting point is 00:35:10 For these guys, it was him being like, I'm going to be very friendly with crypto. And they go, this guy's a fucking greedy bastard. Right. He wants to make money. Here we go, dude. This is the fucking moment we've all been waiting for. Now we're all in on this guy or, you know, conspiracy theorists, racist, whatever. He just knows like, it's like that machine where the coins are getting pushed to the edge.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Right. And it's getting closer and closer and closer. Just finding those people. He made his money off of casinos. He knows how to take advantage. of people being like, I'm going to,
Starting point is 00:35:43 I'm about to make a lot of money, you know? He knows how to, well, say the thing that is going to make people just, the offer is too good to refuse. Like,
Starting point is 00:35:53 that's what he's good at. And, you know, he's been doing it all his life. And for a long time, people didn't believe him. And then he moved himself into, you know,
Starting point is 00:36:03 for a long time, he was like, I'm going to make the most luxurious building you've ever seen. It's, everybody's going to think you're, a genius for living in this building and people were like, what? Like, no. And then he like slightly like
Starting point is 00:36:15 moved over three lanes to a plate and was like, I'm going to make America a proud white supremacist nation and people just hadn't heard that in so long that they were all like, are you serious? Right. No. What? I mean, yes. Okay. We gotta do it then.
Starting point is 00:36:35 Everyone, yeah. People just have to treat Trump like, Billy Madison treated Chris Farley the bus driver in Billy Madison when he goes, that Veronica Vaughn is one piece of ace. I know from experience if you know what I mean. No, you don't.
Starting point is 00:36:51 Well, not me personally, but a guy I know him, no, they didn't. No, no, they didn't, but you could imagine it. You could imagine if they did. Yeah, maybe, but you're lying and you're always lying. So shut up. All right. Those are some of the things that are trending on this Thursday, October 1st. We are back tomorrow
Starting point is 00:37:07 with the whole ass episode of the show. A very fun one. Johnny Pemberton. Always a blast having him on. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get your vaccines while you still can. Get your flu shots.
