My name is Jack O'Brien. That over there is Mr.
Starting point is 00:04:10 My old gray. Did you say, did you forget? You'd be like, I'm Jack O'Brien. I'm Jack O'Brien. Computing. Yep. Yeah. We are we.
Starting point is 00:04:20 You can see the little gears whirring behind my eyes. Yeah. The 1950s robot. This is the episode where we tell you. what is trending on this Tuesday, September 29th of bad news for saved by the Bell fans.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Yeah. Dennis Haskins, who played Mr. Belding, has passed away at the age of 75. He also appeared in shows like Mad Men, which I thought I had seen all of Mad Men. I didn't realize that he appeared in that new girl. Oh, he was in, oh, I didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:04:51 And it's always sunny in Philadelphia. Yeah, I had him pegged as sort of a one-hit wonder. in terms of acting. I didn't know. I mean, maybe he had to disappear into his roles for me not to say, oh,
Starting point is 00:05:08 Don Draper's meeting with Mr. Belding. Weird. Yeah, yeah, this is a weird crossover. Yeah. But he also, looking through his IMDB,
Starting point is 00:05:17 he also played himself in a short film about four guys who don't understand that Mr. Belding was a fictional character. Um, I think, I remember, reading something where
Starting point is 00:05:30 he was constantly plagued by people just coming up to him and being like Mr. Belding. Yeah. No, he will, I mean, I definitely saw him many times as a younger person in Burbank at Dimples' karaoke bar, which is now closed.
Starting point is 00:05:46 But Haskins would be there. And I remember the first time a friend of like, this was like right when we got became 21 and could go out. Someone of me was like, dude, Mr. Belding was at Dimples in Burbank. And then And next weekend, like 10 of us went because we had to go see Mr. Belding. Like, it was like felt like this first time.
Starting point is 00:06:05 It was like, we can go to a bar and see Mr. Belding? Like, are we the fucking lucky as kids in town? Hey, it's nice to live in Hollywood. It's good to be in Burbank, Johnny. And it was really nice. And he was really nice. And people were like, Mr. Belding. Mr. Belding.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Yeah. And I mean, it should be noted, Mr. Belding is an important character in terms of us. coming to terms with the reality that our world is run by people who enable certain charismatic people to do whatever the fuck they want. You know, he was, I would say not a good leader for the school of Bayside High. He was probably more of a,
Starting point is 00:06:50 you know, he was an enabler of an anti-hero in Zach Morris. Sure, sure, sure. who had arguably the most powerful superpower in existence and used it in weird ways. And Mr. Belding, you know, never expelled him, often just kind of let it ride. There are fan theories that Mr. Belding didn't expel Zach because either the show took place in a fantasy world, which I'll get into, or because he witnessed, this is a new one to me, that Zach witnessed Mr. Belding murder Miss Bliss, the teacher who mysteriously vanished after the first batch of Good Morning Miss Bliss episodes.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Sure. So for people who aren't familiar with Save by the Bell lore, the first season was called Good Morning Miss Bliss, and it was set in, and I hadn't even made this connection. Yeah. Because it was the 80s, it was, of course, set in Indianapolis, Indiana. my ongoing theory that the world for whatever reason
Starting point is 00:07:55 revolved around Indiana in the 1980s from naming our greatest movie hero Indiana Jones after him to you know Michael Jackson product of Indiana you know taking over the music landscape Larry Bird Larry Bird taking over the basketball landscape the Hick from French lick anyways that during the 80s they were like
Starting point is 00:08:17 well I guess we've got to set this show in Indiana And it was, for that first season, it was a show where Zach Morris faced realistic consequences. Brian, when he got in trouble. He couldn't go timeout. He's like, freeze reality. He got bad grades. He wasn't, yeah, he was like lazy and his teacher was like, you know, if you applied yourself, but he faced consequences for his actions.
Starting point is 00:08:41 And then between season one and season two, they relocated the show to Bayside, a fictional town in California. and it became this like fantasy sequence. And I feel like I've always argued this, that the theme song makes it clear that what we're seeing is Zach's fantasy sequence, like what happens when he's dreaming because the theme song says, when I wake up in the morning.
Starting point is 00:09:10 So it's like, it takes you basically, the theme song takes place in the real world. It takes us through a day from like bell to bell, alarm bell in the morning to end of the school day bell and in the theme song it's like shit is not going well for him he's like he misses the bus
Starting point is 00:09:29 his teachers like popping a quiz that he's not prepared for but then he's saved by the bell released to his fantasy world where we never see him ever face consequences. Right. And that's that is what we're seeing. That's why
Starting point is 00:09:45 the you know it went from being a real world first season takes place in the real world. Everything else is a dream sequence in Zach's head. And Mr. Belding is just his dream version of what a enabling, you know, principle would be for a psychopath. In a thing, they're like, all right, so what's his dream today? Right. Is that how they're right?
Starting point is 00:10:07 He becomes, I mean, there are actual dream episodes, which, you know, takes us into the world of inception, dream within a dream. Right. he becomes a pop star. But yeah, for the most part, it's just like he can do whatever he wants at any time. And Mr. Belding will just allow it. Anyways, great. I mean, to nail a performance of dream principle of weird sociopath is something else. You know, it's complex shit happening.
Starting point is 00:10:37 It was also like Mr. Belding kind of gave me like the, it kind of, he ruined principles for me. Yeah. Because he was so goofy. that. Yeah, like he was just kind of like, oh, guys, like he had his like goofy little laugh and everything. And then all my principals were fucking, like, just freaks. No one even came close. And I should have known better because it was a TV show. But nonetheless, you know, let you in. Mr. Belding let you in a little bit to what was going on with him. He had that brother who was like cooler than him. Do you remember that episode? Oh, yeah. Brother who's like, we're going to go on.
Starting point is 00:11:13 I'm going to take all the kids on a rafting trip. And he's like, oh, okay. Okay, and then he bails at the last second, and Zach is disappointed, Mr. Belding has to. Hey, who's there for you? Hey, man, you know, not the, I'm the father that, I'm the principal that steps up. Yeah. Anyways, a lot, a lot more coming.
Starting point is 00:11:32 We'll have to do an icon episode about Mr. Belding, probably at some point. Attention. Because, or maybe that's just about enough. He basically, he, he had Parkinson's, right? And people didn't know, and like, or he just wasn't really public about his health. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, that's what I was reading.
Starting point is 00:11:49 He was just very, like, I think, living privately. And I'm sure as one probably does when everyone just flattens you down to, like, Mr. Belding, wherever you go. But also, I mean, I'm sure being on a show that was getting syndication like that in the heyday of television like that, he was probably all right. Yeah, he was probably all right. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:12:09 At the end of last week, over the weekend, 400 people showed up to protest Netanyahu when he addressed the UN General Assembly. And more than 100 protesters were arrested. And the famous ones were apparently forced to take selfies with the NYPD. There were pictures of the NYPD, like being photographed with famous people that they were arresting, like Susan Sarandon, I think, was being arrested. Yep. Which cool.
Starting point is 00:12:38 And when Netanyahu took the podium, the place emptied out as a bunch of delegates left in protest, including Iceland, and Netanyahu called the delegates who walked out moral cowards, which is wild coming from him. Yeah. And Iceland's foreign minister later said that Netanyahu, during her own speech, called the Israeli government moral cowards for repeatedly disrespecting international law and just completely disregarding it. Yeah, and war crimes and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Pretty clear. pretty clear. I mean, it was interesting to see, like,
Starting point is 00:13:17 they were trolling people. I know, there was, like, one Israeli, like, member of their delegation who, like, came up to one of the people that was, like, from the Iranian delegation and the assembly and were just, like, trying to talk to him and clearly, like, antagonized this Iranian delegate, and, like, the guy was just, like, was not making eye contact with this Israeli delegate. And then when people started leaving, there was another person from the Israeli delegation, like, going to all the seats to mark who wasn't there.
Starting point is 00:13:44 Yeah. He's like writing down. Yeah, we're taking notes on you guys. Yeah, we have receipts or whatever. It's, I mean, the more and more, it's interesting to see, like, the tone constantly changing, not in Israel's favor. And just like, they're just resorting to stuff like this, like being so antagonistic at the UN, trying to make it be like, well, we're marking down who doesn't have our backs. Yeah. We're marking down who's on the right side of history here.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Yeah. good luck yeah because yeah um i love that the uh leader of iceland's name last name is gunnar's daughter uh because as we as we learned the the way last name is working in iceland is just your father's first name followed by daughter or son yep um so yeah that'd be jimson um but yeah miles todson todson tonson tatson tatson tatson tatson tatson is kind of an interesting name. Jimson. It sounds like a, it sounds like a name like that comes out of like a Tim Robinson
Starting point is 00:14:49 writer's room, like the kind of name you see in the Detroiters, I think you should leave. It's like, that's Grobbbson. Grodg. Let's see. Open AI has canceled. Their new AI model because they're very concerned about our safety. They announced that they're scrapping the release of
Starting point is 00:15:10 Chet of G-GPT6 point one astra, which was scheduled to launch in October. This is one that had the ad where somebody was, an adult had just generated a cartoon rocket and was watching it in a dark windowless room.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Like they're plotting to kill inspector gadget or something. Just being like, wow, look. I'll get you gadget. Look at this cartoon that I just made. That's sick. I'm going to sit back and enjoy the fruits of my labor. This is such a weird,
Starting point is 00:15:41 like it's truly, it's a guy in like an Eames chair in a very minute like sparse room and the entire an entire eight foot by 12 foot wall is basically have like a projection on it
Starting point is 00:15:56 and then of just like a weird clip art cartoon of a rocket going up what the full hold on now I have like let me just this it's like a whole ad it makes no sense like this is what you were doing in 1979
Starting point is 00:16:11 this makes no sense. It needs a licensing agreement template. Can you generate a draft template for the lawyers at my home? God, dude. What is this like depiction of life that they're trying to push on us? You can just sit in a room completely by yourself in a work cell and ask AI to do the work for you. Jarvis, create a back-end infrastructure for my- It's very Jarvis-coded.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Yeah, like, what? What? Stop with this Jarvis-coded nonsense. I'm building a website. Do people know that there's not, consumers have a ton of buying power? Maybe right now is not the time to launch your, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:51 drop shipping business or whatever. But it allows, canceling it for safety purposes allows open AI to sell the idea that they can, first of all, that they can regulate themselves. This is coming right after the big, pace the frontier announcement,
Starting point is 00:17:10 but also after they received a bunch of bad press over the revelation that everybody who works there, first of all, believes their products might end up ending the world, but also they had to make a belated apology for hacking an Australian government website. Yeah. It's weird because a lot of the explanation around frontier models were that they were, like, going to be dangerous or they were already dangerous, but they're also like not the models that are available to all of us.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Like there's a distinction between like the chat GPT shit that they're like putting out and the things that people were actually worried about. Right. And so that like I don't know. It feels like this, them coming out and saying this product that we were about to release to you is too powerful. Even would be like suspicious even according to the people who are taking them at their word around the question of like pacing the frontier. Like that it's like, well that's, but that's not the thing that. is supposed to be actually dangerous. And, you know, could it just be the equivalent of when a streamer goes down
Starting point is 00:18:18 because a show is so popular, it crashes the server? And it's like, hmm, man, you guys keep having this problem. It feels like you, a massive international media company and streamer, would be able to prevent things from going down if you really didn't want the number of people who were watching the latest stranger things to crash. the crasher servers, but I don't know that all of their fear around the power of these frontier models is just made up. Like, as we talked about, I think there are people inside that
Starting point is 00:18:56 world that are like part of this doomsday cult of AI theorists who have just thought that AI was going to lead to the end of the world for a long time, even before it, like, got good. So there are definitely people in there who believe it. But this, this one just feels like it's not even connected to how they've been talking about things. Yeah. It's, I mean, they have to kind of maintain that sort of intrigue, too. Because if it's just sort of like, if they lose the sort of feeling that like we're dealing with like potentially like an entirely new energy source for humanity. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Then it kind of like loses that broad investing appeal. And also too, like, I mean, we have to remember we're living in a world where Donald Trump has massive amounts of. money invested in AI. Right. These people got, like all these tech people got in his head too. And not only they got him to, you know, make the, the regulatory environment around it very, very, uh, suitable for AI companies, very welcoming for them. But also like talking him into investing a ton.
Starting point is 00:20:00 So there's no way like every, like there's so many people. There's so many stakeholders in this working that I think the part with Trump being invested in is pretty underrated. Yes. he absolutely like, you know, when he starts talking about it, he's talking like a guy who's got a lot of money wrapped up in that too. Come on, wrap it up, make the super intelligence. Let's go. Let's go. This also goes back to the thing we were talking about where one of the things that they're trying to sort of roll into their idea of pays in the frontier is like less regulation essentially. And this is just another example of like, you know, theoretically, a theoretic problem with AI that like you're creating these like massive like jet engine computing engines that are uh doing things that like even like solving mathematical problems that even like
Starting point is 00:20:50 mathematicians can't figure out how they did it but like you know they're able to like use those like that's a powerful tool and then there are the like consumer available ones and like I can understand people being like well at a certain level if it's like if those like supercomputers are are like moving beyond the frontier of human understanding, like, weird stuff could start happening. But like, when it comes to just like creating products that are like tools for everybody to use, if you can't handle your shit on those, that's, that's a bad sign. Like, that shouldn't be, I feel like they're tucking something. They're, they're trying to tuck this idea of like, you know, well, we made a product that is like dangerous into the broader philosophical
Starting point is 00:21:38 question of like, you know, what about like when a theoretical hyper-intelligence starts creating more hyper-intelligent models? Like, this is just like a thing that you're making for consumer use. And like that is, we have laws. Again, we have laws in place
Starting point is 00:21:55 for dealing with companies that make dangerous products. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But this is not paving the frontier. This is you being like, ah, we fucked up. We're actually not able to police ourselves. you know, keep track of what we're doing. Yeah. There are laws.
Starting point is 00:22:13 However, when you have a president who's also heavily invested in it, there's, there are not laws. Right. Not effective. Effectively, there are no laws. Let's take a quick break and we'll come back and talk about Mountain Dew, the hard Mountain Dew trying to put a bounty on Bigfoot. We'll be right back. This record is on. Miley is having a moment.

I'm Lexi Yuwanu. We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart. And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references, occasionally different opinions, and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all. I'm not going to get anywhere fighting. That is wild. I learned that about you today. Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business. And I've always.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Always got something to say. If men were just honest about this, there would be so much more peace in the world. We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser. We're best friends, but we don't always agree. Because you told us how accommodating you are. Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Liar. Listen on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. I don't really care.

Okay. A panel of New Yorker cartoonists. Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class? No! I've been dying too.
Starting point is 00:25:51 I'm so sorry. I'm seeing a reading of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Audra McDonald at the Wonderland Bookstore on 14. That's crazy. I went to the Wonderland bookstore yesterday and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of Zero Dark 30. No way. You have to come to the last bookstore, though. Kim Cottrell is reading the guitar tabs of... yesterday.

If you don't win, you have no power. It's real. Those are the very people who I always say vote against their own economic interest, and they complain about the very thing to receive.
Starting point is 00:26:56 It's raw. I knew that the issue of transgender athletes was not going well with a lot of black men. Roland Martin unfiltered. I went off, I said, this is exactly what I'm talking about. going to scream at Chanel, but you don't want to see a black luxury company in the same vein. And download Roland Martin Unfiltered on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. The WNBA playoffs are about. to begin. The talent is insane and the personalities are giving main character energy. And of course, the fans love it. But 30 years ago, when the league first started, it was a different story. I remember sitting with a couple of male writers all whining about, oh, what are they going to do if they break a nail? No one's going to show up. But from the very beginning, there were two teams that captured everyone's attention. The comments were to real deal. I mean, come on. The Liberty
Starting point is 00:28:06 never gave up. They never stopped fighting. I knew that rivalry was going to. going to be amazing from the beginning. I'm Kerry Champion, and this is biggest rivalries of all time season two. The New York Liberty versus the Houston Commons, the very first rivalry of the WNBA. They picked us to finish last, and they picked them to finish first. That's all you need to know. I remember looking around thinking, this is going to change things. Basketball was going to have this fundamental impact on the way people viewed women
Starting point is 00:28:36 athletes. Listen to biggest rivalries of all time on the IHard radio app, Apple podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Is there bad blood between you in the comments as you guys meet again in the championship? Oh, we're coming back to win. Every case has a story. Every victim has a voice, but will it be heard? Starting point is 00:29:26 I'll see you there, friend. And we're back. We're back. And I'm not the foremost Bigfoot, like I'm not tracking Bigfoot sightings anymore. That writer, JM, says that there have been a number of Bigfoot sightings in recent weeks in places like Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and New York State. And I did look into it, and those are states. So that part checks out. All right.
Starting point is 00:29:56 But the New York State one, turns out, might have just been an old naked guy. An old naked guy is so stupid. Hairy as hell, I guess. Another Siting in Maine Multiple residents called the cops Although it turned out
Starting point is 00:30:16 To be a man wearing a costume And the fact that he had On like One of those flat brim Like Mumford And Sons style Like hipster hats
Starting point is 00:30:27 Yeah Yeah Yeah yeah Would have been My first giveaway That it wasn't Actually Bigfoot Wait so we got
Starting point is 00:30:32 A naked guy A guy in a hat And a costume Yeah So far Okay Well that's good I'm glad
Starting point is 00:30:38 I also says Creature dubbed, quote, Syracuse figure spotted in New York. Is it Bigfoot or an elderly skinny dipper? The figure estimated around 4 foot 9 inches tall has been dubbed a possible mini Bigfoot. Four foot nine? It's a little old naked guy. That guy's tiny. Anyways, hard Mountain Dew is stepping in to try and cut through the mess, cut through the noise.
Starting point is 00:31:05 They've announced a $1 million prize to anyone who can provide proof. that Bigfoot exists. But applicant, like, it's kind of funny because, first of all, what if this is how we find out? Like a redneck here. This is like a more redneck version of Mike's hard lemonade
Starting point is 00:31:26 sponsoring a contest that, like, ends up being the XPRIZ for proving the existence of cryptos. They are, like, going pretty hard in terms of, Like the requirements are fairly intense. They only consider it proof when it meets four of their seven criteria
Starting point is 00:31:48 and the criteria are like paw prints, which how the fuck are you gonna find? All right, so paw prints, handprints, photos, audio, environmental remnants, thermal imaging capture, and hair samples. I'm trying to figure out if you could, like paw prints would be easy to end handprints, thermal imaging, I feel like you could fuck with.
Starting point is 00:32:09 But like anything out, like, and then photos, I guess. I mean, I would tell them. Audio would be easy. Just like, turn that in. There you go. They're like, dude, this is you. This is you. I can tell you're wearing a Sixers jersey and this thermal imaging sample you sent through.
Starting point is 00:32:29 You didn't even try, man. Why is Bigfoot keep saying we got LeBron over and over again? Man, and then the footprints? What are you supposed to do with the footprints? because, you know, like, there might just be one set because Bigfoot was carrying me this whole time. The whole time. What am I supposed to do then?
Starting point is 00:32:45 I mean, they must really know their, you know, obviously, like, this is marketing. But like, I wonder if they're like, dude, like the marketing, be like, we're fucking huge with Bigfoot hunters, man. Right. This is, these are our people. You try to figure out who is the Mountain Dew Hard drinker. It's people that are hunting down cryptids because they're drinking boozed up energy drinks, frolicing in the goddamn forest.
Starting point is 00:33:07 every night. That is not shocking to me. That is, I am often impressed by the amount of information that corporations are able to like figure out about people. This is not like, this is one they could have asked me and I would have told them, I would have told them that there was some overlap there. This did make me wonder though, are we reaching? There's been a couple other news stories that we've covered recently that have made me wonder this, but this is probably the one that is the most suspicious to me making me suspect that they are like staging
Starting point is 00:33:41 things in order to justify a marketing campaign like so you know because they have a rat this rash of sightings that were kind of easily disproven I'm just like it takes so long to organize
Starting point is 00:33:58 like a sweepstakes or a contest type thing like this behind the scenes like you can't just like whip together a one million dollar prize bigfoot contest. Unless they, like, had it on ice waiting for a rash of bigfoot sightings. The other option is, like, maybe there are just always bigfoot sightings all the time happening at, like, a low simmer.
Starting point is 00:34:19 And they were just, like, drawing attention to four that happened. But I could really see, like, marketers being like, all right. So here's the deal. It's called buzz marketing. We just have, like, four people call in bigfoot sightings. We have a guy who I know dress as Bigfoot, walk down the street with a hat on. Get some pictures of that.
Starting point is 00:34:43 And then, you know, it's like breaking into, like marketing, breaking into the world of reality in a very stupid way. It feels like a Cohen Brothers movie or something too. Or then like a guy who's pretending to be Bigfoot gets like captured and the guys believe he's Bigfoot or something. Right. It's just like some agency guy. It was like, no, I'm so serious. I'm just like, we got a live one.
Starting point is 00:35:04 I also just think, too, even without the lead of like having these stories happening ambiently, part of me just feels like this is so specific. And their website doesn't even mention, they're not even using that to say like, this is why we're doing it. Right. They're just like, all right, freaks, we know you guys are some sick cryptid, like, obsessed people. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:25 Here's a way to get your information, fill out this sheet, and maybe we'll give you 20 bucks because we know we're probably going to get more than a couple bites on this whole campaign. I just like to believe that it's the official drink of Bigfoot hunters. I like to believe generally, Miles, as we've talked about. I want to believe, call me molder. I want to believe, like Bigfoot is the one that I have the hardest time believing in now that we have cameras everywhere. Anyone hiking through the woods has a high quality camera on them at all times. Ghosts being the other one that I feel like we would have more ghost pictures by now. But I don't know. You know, and that's what the contest is for.
Starting point is 00:36:06 That's what the contest is for. And it's just like it appeals to a very specific kind of person. You know what I mean? Like you and I would be like, yeah, I'm fucking Bigfoot. You're sure, whatever. I mean, like, the only Bigfoot I acknowledge is Harry and the Henderson's. Okay. I know.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Because that shit was real. I saw what it was like for them to live amongst us and John Lithgow. But like, yeah, I think for, it's like, it's kind of like flat earthy kind of thing where you've got... It is a little flat-earthy, but, like, I also know smart people who believe it,
Starting point is 00:36:36 you know? So I'm just... How smart are they, Jack? I guess is more. Maybe what we need to do is maybe can we try and convince them? Are we smarter
Starting point is 00:36:46 than the people that believe in it and could we potentially get, like, trick them? I think I'm too scared to talk to them because I think they'd convince me. I don't know, I'm afraid I don't like what they're saying.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Yeah. All right, well, I'm going to go. skinny dipping in a lake and we'll see what happens. But as somebody who will travel down the path of a conspiracy theory every once in a while, it's usually like that there are some good ones like the, man, look how many people have gone missing in the national parks. And then it's usually a, and that's when they found the Bigfoot tracks.
Starting point is 00:37:22 I was like, oh, that's where this was headed. Right, right, right, right, yeah. I thought it was going to be aliens, something I could actually believe in. Yeah. And finally, Miles, I got some of. upsetting news about this new billionaire tax. What happened? As mentioned before, I get all my political information from TV ads and random texts that arrive
Starting point is 00:37:43 from numbers I'm not familiar with. And I just got some late breaking news. But they text you. Based on my politics, I was assuming this thing was a slam dunk because billionaires have too much money and the rest of the people have too little money. and so finding a way to redistribute that could be a good idea. Well, they're apparently all going to leave California, Miles. I just got a text.
Starting point is 00:38:12 The California School Boards Association, California Taxpayers Association, and California hospitals and clinics oppose Prop 40. A study by Stanford economists found the so-called wealth tax. in quotes will drive people and companies out of the state costing us billions in revenue needed to fund schools and keep hospitals and clinics open. That's crazy. So those, the billionaires and the massive corporations have been funding our schools and clinics?
Starting point is 00:38:51 I didn't realize that. I guess. I mean, have an eye too? Right. Also. And when the money runs out, Prop 40 has a loophole. that lets the state legislator expand the tax to others.
Starting point is 00:39:04 Oh, yeah, we saw them spamming that little nugget in that one commercial. Do we cover it that AI commercial where people were just like walking down the street and like lawyers were coming to like take their like strollers and TVs and they're like, yeah, you said it was just for the billionaires but now we're coming for you.
Starting point is 00:39:22 But yeah, so I looked into the Stanford Economists. Stanford continues to be on a generational run of just seeming like they've been taken over by, just captured completely by the forces of capital and using their student body as like a farm system for the world of billionaire-owned corporations. But this professor is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institute.
Starting point is 00:39:48 Do they design vacuum cleaners? Our best president. I remember he ushered in fantastic economic times for the country. I know. Amazing that they named it up them. advocates on behalf of limited government and in favor of free enterprise. So yeah, exactly. Again, for any of this, no matter what the text you get, look who's backing it and look who's against it.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Okay. So the people who support it, the SEIU, the service employees international union, okay, United Healthcare Workers, the Teamsters, the fucking people who drive all of our shit everywhere, ask me. And then the people who are against it, the cash. California Business Roundtable. Oh, God. This crypto executive, Chris Larson, venture capitalist Ron Conway, state building and
Starting point is 00:40:38 branch of the Christmas Adventurers Club. Yeah, exactly. State building and construction trades. Yeah. I mean, I've failed to see, you know, like, and also look at the spending. The people who are supporting it are getting blown out by like two to one by all the like fucking billionaires. who again trotting out all the same shit,
Starting point is 00:41:01 same thing in New York and Manhattan. People are like, we're going to leave Manhattan. I'm done. It is amazing. Nobody leaves. They haven't really come up with any. It's not just that Zoran has like been very successful and everybody seems very happy with
Starting point is 00:41:14 the job he's doing. And it's not just that like none of the billionaires have left Manhattan. It's also that like they haven't come up with a new like a new line of reasoning, like a line of argument to be like, okay so like maybe it worked there but it's just there and like we're gonna still do it like they're just pretending that shit didn't happen yeah because it's actually happening it's also patronizing because they're treating voters like children right and like you can lot you can tell a kid to not do something with some made up shit like don't sit too close to tv your eyes are gonna go hey wire or whatever i just
Starting point is 00:41:50 miles i just came clean with my son about the fact that his face wasn't going to stick like that I did. He was like, you know how you've been saying that? Like, is that actually true? You know how adults say that? I was like, yeah, yeah, it's not true. See, and look, you're doing the good thing. See, politicians, they won't, they don't realize when the jig is up and the subject that you've been lying to and lying about has become smart enough, intelligent enough, experience enough to just see through your very juvenile, like, scare tact.
Starting point is 00:42:22 Well, if you do that, they're going to, they're going to think you're being mean and then they're going to go away. Right. What the fuck are you talking? And now people are like, I don't give a fuck. They have money. These people have so much money and we're suffering because we're not properly taxing these people. So I fail to really sympathize with their cause or anything. I'm like, yeah, run us our coins.
Starting point is 00:42:47 Thank you. And help improve the state because we have a lot of people to take care of. And yeah, guess what? You like living here? Then fucking chip in because everyone else has to chip it. Yeah, at a much higher rate than you're having to chip in. All right. Those are some of the things that are trending on this Tuesday, September 29th.
