apple podcast or wherever you get your podcasts hello the internet and welcome to trend in the uh i'm jack o'brien that's miles gray it is monday afternoon and this is what's trending oh yeah hey miles uh bernie endorsed biden baby no way never saw that coming he just did it last time when he got baked by the establishment pick uh yeah yeah he took he took a little while longer right last time yeah yeah yeah i'm curious to know what's going on there i i mean obviously like at this point the bottom line for most people is just like okay well then now we have to defeat big orange monster fuck uh but now like i'm curious to know if there if there was something behind the scenes there that biden might add to his platform that might make it more palatable for people on the left left to like want to vote for him without fully pinching

their nose off at the polls um right but yeah that would be nice if that were the case some bernie supporters are like yeah okay that's kind of what we expected some feel betrayed i mean oh yeah it depends on how disgusting you find the establishment and the level of business uh as usual in this country because i know yeah there is a definitely a small group of people who are like you know completely not with joe biden i don't think that's a small group of people who are like, you know, completely not with Joe Biden. I don't think that's a huge amount of people because I think most people, despite, you know, disagreeing with a lot of the platform and policies of like a Joe Biden, know at the end of the day, like we're going to have to live in a world with one of these people as president.

to live in a world with one of these people as president. And I mean, for some people, it's truly like, which person who's been accused of sexual assault am I going to vote for? As I hear people say that. And now that story is actually starting to pick up more. Yeah. So do we know what changed? Because that's the second thing on our list of trending topics is Tara Reid, who is the former Biden staffer who has accused him of sexually assaulting her in the 90s? Yeah, I think in 1993. What it looks like is just, I think the New York Times, there's one Yahoo article saying that there was a New York Times investigation, but they said they found no corroboration outside of reed when they when they looked into it in 1993 and 2008 some were just sort of like well the new york times didn't really make much

of this um and then some other depending on like how progressive the sites are like alternate is you know full-on just talking about like what the allegations are and things like that abc is describing it as uh that there's someone made allegations and that's a yeah i mean that's more than what was happening weeks ago when this story first broke right i mean we were specifically asking the question why is nobody talking about this last week when like it was i mean last week it was a week week and a half after people had begun talking about it but i don't know i mean so the new york times on sunday published an article examining tara reed's sexual assault allegations against joe biden um so i think it's more of like a history of the fact-checking process which is something that I was like wondering when they were going to release.

But I don't know necessarily the details of that story. So we'll have to come back to it. I know that they edited that Times article like really quickly after it was published on Sunday because that was a lot of other talk about it. Because when you look on the internet archive of how the article was originally published in the Times, there was this paragraph in there that said,

quote, no other allegations about sexual assault surfaced in the course of reporting, nor did any former Biden staff members corroborate any details of Ms. Reid's allegations. The Times found no pattern of sexual misconduct by Mr. Biden beyond the hugs, kisses, and touching that women previously said made them uncomfortable oh got it just and now they took out they were just sort of like they took out

that sentence and like shortened it a bit because yeah like when they even say it like that no nothing odd except the history of people saying he's like constantly violating their personal space and making them feel uncomfortable. Right. Yeah. It's just weird that it took this long. It's almost like this is the thing you would have expected to be coming out the day after the allegations started surfacing again. So I don't know.

We'll see. I'm sure there will be a reporting on the reporting. Yeah. But I mean, also, a, I guess if there's a presumptive nominee on the reporting. Yeah. But I mean, also too, just in like the timeline of the nomination and things like that, it's like, well, it's not like this is going to harm Biden to get the nomination and

whatever then. Cause it seems like, uh, on like Twitter, you see like, you know, big D Democrats and Republicans going into the same bag to launch assaults at each other,

being like, yeah, well, your guy is also accused. Huh? Huh? Yeah. Okay. Maybe it'll cancel each other out. I don't, I don't, I'm not sure how, how they think they can approach this, uh, like sincerely. Um, because this is, it's, it's really a, it's a story that any other time, if this, this is the thing, like,, if this were any candidate on the right, the left would be screaming, or at least the Democrats in Congress would be like, we need a real thorough investigation to vet these allegations.

And we're seeing just sort of that selective outrage play out on the left now. Not on the left, on the Democrats. On the Democrats, rather, yeah. George Stephanopoulos is trending he tested positive for covet 19 he said he's basically asymptomatic thus far so another famous person who got tested despite not having any symptoms whereas a lot of people around the country who are really struggling with the illness can't get tested.

I wonder if you can go to a clinic and say, I'm verified on Twitter. Does that change anything for me to get tested now? I mean, I'm not even verified, but if that will help, then I guess that's added incentive. Yeah, seems like it. I'm trying to figure out if there are more news anchors who are getting it because they continue to work and and they're working in New York for the most part. Or if they're just so many news anchors that they're just the people we've heard of. There's so much they're like the most populous of types of famous people who are over a certain age. But yeah, I don't know.

I don't know. I think it's just like anything we like anything we you know without these tests we just don't know really do we just don't know who can get it how how prevalent it really is i mean because we were even you were sharing that article in our text set about how like in california like experts suspect that it was covid19 was in the state like months ago yeah yeah like before uh any like i think they're saying back in december it was already spreading um is is the suspicion and uh but we just know they're they're yeah we just don't know i've known people who were were sick in the months before it supposedly got here but they seemed to have a lot of the symptoms that you would associate with COVID-19.

Yeah. And it'll be interesting when we're able to do the blood serum testing. But, you know, like I say on tomorrow's episode, I think that's going to come down to, again, the George Stephanopoulos and Rudy Gobert's of

the world are going to have access to those tests probably before the rest of the world. Oh, no, I heard they were going to give it to the most vulnerable and poverty stricken communities. Totally. That's that's what I heard in a fever dream. I mean, honestly, a birth date based lottery makes more sense than what we're doing currently, which is just fucking giving it out. Yeah, it's income based. It's based on like, yeah, it might not be like, I'll pay you $1,000 for the test. But it's like this rich person has a rich person doctor who's able to get them access to things and like you know there there's just ways in america it's not it's not it's the opposite of a meritocracy

and finally prayers for cat is trending oh for carl anthony towns um because his mother passed away from covet 19 it was like a huge thing weeks ago because he i remember he was yeah when his mom had contracted it he was really distraught and trying to really you know encourage people to take this seriously and social distancing seriously and know that this this has real effects um yeah and unfortunately yeah his mother had passed away uh and people are sort of rallying around him and showing their support and things like that because you know like anyone you you for athletes too like mothers are typically they're always the one saying that they're the real mvp and i can only imagine uh you know anyone who has a functioning relationship with their mother is absolutely awful to go through something like that so yeah that's that's

why that's trending but a lot of people are you know sharing kind words and things like that yeah i remember he was one of the first kind of famous people who really seemed to have a uh i don't know like a public appearance that was like that that's fully relatable and also like yeah super effective um yeah shit and it was before people were fully taking it seriously i feel like um yeah exactly and i think that's why it's like you know even though you know i'm sure at this point most people in their lives have heard of or know someone who is possibly contracted COVID-19 or is dealing with that. And yeah, just it you the humanity of it becomes very real to everyone. that we can continue to like really look at things like this to motivate us to to put our needs of normalcy aside because ultimately like you know really really cutting down on our ability

or the possibility of spreading uh any kind of infection you know can lead to outcomes like this so yeah tough tough tough time yeah really sad uh well shout out to him shout out to his whole family and uh all the the people of the minnesota timberwolves organization that's really yeah and and just to remind people you know carl anthony towns has a big microphone big megaphone to be able to let people know what has happened in his life but there are thousands tens of thousands of people who are also touched in an identical way who need just as much support and and people who need just as much support getting back to what normalcy is for them after this so you know we gotta we gotta keep everybody in our thoughts be there for each other yep all
