Let's get trendy. Let's get trending. And a bit of a sad one to start off on. Bruce Willis is trending because he's announced that he is stepping away from acting because he's been diagnosed with aphasia. And, you know, that's an illness that, you know, impacts your ability to communicate and understand. And, like, it's really, really like a terrible, terrible disease. And, yeah, it's just he's basically saying because of that or through I think his family was saying it through his family. Yeah, he's not going to be acting. It's sad.

Yeah, I, you know, I obviously, like many people, probably didn't know what this was. So, you know, I went to go look it up. And when you when you read about it, it's a very sad, very sad disease. Apparently, you know, us being in entertainment and Hollywood adjacent, we have a lot of industry friends apparently has been kind of like one of those well-known secrets or best-kept secrets within the industry that he's been suffering from essentially dementia which is what this is a form of um for a while which is why you know he's which puts it into perspective how many movies he's done over the past like two or three years a lot of direct-to-video movies and things like that but he's basically just stacking bread because he knew this date was coming um which

is so sad and it just goes it kind of goes to you know what um we always talk about within you know just culture in general like just never know what somebody's going through or anything like that which is which is so true you never know what somebody's going through or anything like that which is which is so true you never know what somebody's going through you never know the struggle everybody thinks what we do is glamorous uh even going down to like podcasting there's some people who think this is glamorous but you never know what somebody's going through and and it's very sad because you know good actor great actor a lot of good movies, man, a lot of classics. Yeah, it's a very sad thing to know somebody is stepping away from something they love for health reasons.

And it just, the older we get, it just brings it closer to home. Because it's like, shit, something that we love can be ripped away from us for something out of our control so quickly. And you just never know, right? It's pretty sad. And things we take for granted, you know, just like the ability to communicate you know yeah that that is literally his job like that is that is what he decided i want my dream to be and the tool that every actor needs for the most part because it's not just your ability to communicate. Apparently I read a little bit on it. It also is your ability to communicate from like a,

a neurological standpoint. So not just, you can't speak, but you like, you have a hard time like formulating synthesis and things like that from like your brain. So that is literally the crux of what he does. Yeah.

That is, that is his job and it just seems kind of cruel right it seems kind of cruel that that is any disease and anything that makes you not be able to do what you love or just yeah a disease is cruel but i think anybody too who's ever had a family member who's you know had a slow mental decline like it's really it's just tough to even you know as a you know, like sort of watching someone begin to sort of lose like huge parts of them, uh, that were like,

you know, big parts of who they are anyway. So, uh, yeah, that's, that's, that's,

that's a bit of a sad, a bit of sad news. Um, next thing that's trending is the word booming. This is from an NBC news headline. This being shared where people are like, what's going on? Which reads quote president biden's approval rating has fallen to the lowest level of his presidency

despite booming economy according to new nbc news poll yeah okay i don't know whatever who the fuck is it booming for yeah that's the thing that's like booming for when you when you read these headlines and they're like despite the booming economy you're like are you reading the news where people are constantly walking out of their jobs like in every perceivable industry or unionizing to try and find a way to get guaranteed better outcomes for themselves that's what the real economy that you need to be paying attention to is the experience of fucking actual people rather than being like man look at the fucking lines going up on the nasdaq the fuck are we talking

about and i get that there's other dimensions to the economy that you know he's helped cut down a deficit etc but these things are lost on voters and that's not like a despite booming situation it's because that version of the economy is not experience not the one that's lived by people um and you see a lot of people saying like what's gonna is it gonna be a red wave in november i mean with the lack of shit going on i don't that that seems like it could be yeah it will be it 100 will be and you know because know, there's two types of economy. There's the economy for the wealthy, and then there's the tangible economy for the rest of us, right? Yeah.

And everything tangible that this administration can be doing is not being done. It's not showing up. It's like, oh, here's two tests for five people. Yeah, you know. And I know people, whenever I say that, you know, some people come in my mentions. It's like, actually, he's done this and this and the judges. And I'm like, oh, that's great, man. Oh, that's fantastic.

But that's not tangible. That's not hitting where it needs to. Yeah, it's not hitting to people who are still struggling as we are in now year three of a pandemic. Right. That doesn't seem to be going away yeah and very simple things you know like the shit that you campaigned on would probably help you know like where's that student loan forgiveness um yeah that would that would help a lot of people that would help where's you know like what happened to the getting prescription drugs under control

that's some shit that people would what happened a minimum wage didn't he say he was going you know that's an executive order he can do right well well the thing it's so many there's so many ways to for people to like reason away why it's actually not uh his fault or whatever but like nobody gives a fuck even if you explain like how difficult it is to do these things you know joe mansion i and that may be the case and i know that you know capitol hill politics is more complex than merely being like come on joe mansion but at the same time yeah if you're going to be out here trying to motivate people to vote for you you can't be saying shit that you can't get done but again then nobody would get elected because nobody would actually campaign on the shit they can actually do.

Unless you're a Republican and you're saying, I want to completely dehumanize people of color or anyone in the LGBTQ community. Yeah. Good news. Susan Collins is trending, not because she's resigning, but because she's made a good decision when it comes to confirming a Supreme Court justice. She has come out and said, you know what? I kind of fuck with katanji brown jackson i think i want to vote to confirm her so with that one republican vote and knowing joe mansion is also a yes uh i don't hopefully that wasn't too much in doubt uh we're

looking very we're looking at a good shot here at having our first black woman uh seated as a supreme court justice so yeah fantastic i it's gonna be very funny i just want to see you know because every it seems like every republican or anybody who's in doubt has to publicly say it before they go give the vote right i just wonder how many other republicans is it going to be one of those cases where you know it's just mitt romney and susan collins and then all the democrats maybe not so many right yeah what's that split gonna look like what's that split gonna look like right because when kavanaugh got into office. The reason that Democrats didn't vote for him is because he had a sexual harassment and assault allegation for Amy Cohen Barrett. Two reasons.

She was not that qualified. No. One of the least qualified judges in history. And also, they were ramming it through a month before the election. That's a pretty legitimate claim. a month before the election. That's a pretty legitimate claim. There's no legitimate claim that the Republicans would have

for not putting through Judge Jackson outside of well, she is a Negro. That's it. And they couldn't even be they're being cowardly in their racism by just being like, well, I don't like some of the

sentencing decisions that she made. i have to look some things over real quick is it her complexion because you voted in somebody from a fucking cult uh just a couple years ago so yeah where's the line exactly and like you said she's has more judicial experience than like four of the justices that have been seated there's there's nothing and that's what and i think that's what made the confirmation painful to watch uh and also the lack of protection that was offered by democrats while the republicans just basically tried to smear her with all these fantastic nonsense reasons um to the point where even joe mansion came in with the late take when he was like man that was despicable what those republicans did to her he's like that's just

shameful how they spoke to her. And I'm like, why don't you go back into the fucking corner, fool? Speak up when you're actually a vote for something that's going to help people rather than being like, let me do the bare minimum and be like, yo, that racism shit on TV was bad.

especially this last week when he was saying stuff like i've been i was invited to coke orgies that politicians are in this is wild caused a huge uproar in the party on the republicans they're like okay well then who the fuck are you talking about if you think this is really happening and also like what are you what why why are you finding why are you trying to say this so kevin mccarthy the minority leader of the house you know decided he's like well i'm gonna sit this young man down we're gonna have a talking to we're gonna just kind of chat this out see where his head's at and this is what's happened since their discussion quote mccarthy says he told madison cawthorn during a meeting that the freshman has lost his

trust and he needs to take steps to turn his life around or else there could be consequences. Also, McCarthy says Cawthorn admitted his orgy and cocaine allegations were exaggerated slash untrue. Huh? Anyway, so anyway, yeah, I, you know, I read I saw the story and like many stories that come from, you know, a certain side the aisle, it just kind of brushes over me. But look, if you're going to say you've been to a lot of coke orgy parties, you've got to start giving receipts, bro. We live in a digital age. You've got to get some receipts because I want to know who I need to party with. You know what I'm saying? I want to know who to vote for.

I'm going to vote for people who haven't coke orgy parties. They're like, well, hold on. I'm like, well, what's your policy on minimum wage? It's like, I think it should be fucking $40. All right, man. Yeah, fuck on then. Fuck on with your bad self. Fuck on with your bad self. Emmett Till is trending

because, man, sadly, we've finally done it, folks. And've we've finally done it folks uh and by we've finally done it is we've finally after what two almost 250 years made lynching a federal hate crime it's not crazy like emmett till for people who know i think his birthday was recently and he would have been 81 i believe yeah to let you know how old my granddad is right this he was killed when he was 14 years old yeah you know um and he was never convicted of a crime this is like one of the you know just put it on the the of the numerous, just horrific

hate crimes that have been perpetrated against black people in this country. And, you know, lynching, my God, we've just finally got to the point where we are putting it into federal law that lynching is a hate crime. And, yeah, it's just, it's an eerie fucking

headline. It is an eerie headline because, you know, it just goes to show you, you know, I think like the most vile thing is murder, one. Right. And it's very obvious that the history of lynching is toward a specific group of people. Yeah. And I can't imagine anything else where it would have taken this long. Right. Like, I have a horrible thing in my mind and I'm very hesitant to even use it as an example. But, you know, like if this was a think think of like, you know, like a terrible thing that happened so long ago and and it affects like a group, a specific group of people.

And in 2022, they just outlawed it as a crime right it's terrible it almost says honestly man we didn't think you were worth it until now and even now it's kind of a smack in the face because fourth out over 4 000 black people have been killed through lynchings um and now we're like yeah okay maybe we can handle it as of at the federal level, make this law. This, they tried to make this a lot, like over something like 200 times. Yeah. And you always had these custodians of white supremacy in, in Congress who found a way to get it in their mind that this isn't something that had to be addressed. So, uh, you know, you you know the funny thing now too is the

fact that it passed now like i don't even have like goodwill faith in the fact that it passed now because because now it's even just like it's so late some of the some of the white supremacists are like all right fine we'll give you this but you can shut the fuck up now right now see we not racist lynching is a hate crime like so i don't even have a goodwill faith about it now even right it just yeah it's it's it's it's tarnished uh and you know the glacial pace at which uh change happens in this country like we said like for any other thing there's people are on two different schedules there's a schedule for legislators to be like yeah we'll get to that and then there's the lived experience of people who are saying if these laws if we don't have laws or standards that protect people from being discriminated against

or violated um then all every second that passes is more opportunity for terrible shit to happen and look and and it only took 246 years and over 4,000 bodies. And then finally, Disney's trending because now they're trying to still clean up the don't say gay stuff. Still many people are looking at Disney saying like, please do something. Like you could probably make shit happen

if you were a little more forceful. Today, one of the executives, Carrie Burke, said, you know, as a parent of one transgender child and one pansexual child i support the lgbtqia community and racial minorities represented through disney characters and that was like this quote and i think a lot of people were like don't like please don't do the thing of like as a parent of or as a wife or partner to type thing to just like what's what's the action that's going to happen there's a there's a reimagine tomorrow campaign that people are talking about from disney that

quote aims to better represent minority groups and establish inclusion standards across all content by 2022 50 of regular and recurring characters across disney general entertainment scripted content will come from underrepresented groups. Um, and this is the thing too, you know, it's just being depicted on screen. Isn't, isn't it? That's the, it doesn't end there by saying, well, we'll pay more Brown people and, and, and anyone who's, uh, not a CIS het to be on these shows. That's there's also, you have to also demonstrate that you understand the

dimensions that affect these people and say you know what we're actually going to completely divest from anybody who votes for this bill anybody who voted we're not we don't fuck with you anymore and we don't need the tax breaks they gave us that we've you know kind of tit for tatted that we won't really talk about but they could be doing things and I think that's the thing that's upsetting a lot of people who are watching this go down. I think too, you know, like obviously representation is great.

Representation matters. Um, but you know, a representation matters for the most, the people who that's the only power they have to give. Right. Right. As a filmmaker, that is my gift that they have to give. Right. Right. As a filmmaker,

that is my gift that I give to the world. So like if the gift that I can give to the world, I can also add representation into that. That is the most powerful thing that I, as a filmmaker can do. Disney got a lot of fucking money. Yeah. Disney got a lot of fucking power. Disney has a lot of fucking money yeah disney got a lot of fucking power disney has

a lot of fucking influence representation is the least you can do yeah for real that's the least you can do disney yeah and this is i mean it's no secret i love a disney park yeah disney guy love it love it have Beautiful. It's the least you can do. It's not the most you can do. It's the least you can do. That's literally the least you can do. Yeah. And when you do the least you can do, you tell us where you stand.

It's easy for you to put representation in movies and film because, one, there's no sweat off your back. You're not really making the decisions. You're passing directors new instructions. Exactly. You're giving new instructions. And then also, you get money off of that. They're not stupid. Coco made a lot of money. And anything with people of color does very well.

People have been saying that. They're like, huh, white people will also watch this. It doesn't matter. You're not saying that. They're not stupid. Huh. White people will also watch this. Yeah. It doesn't matter. You're not doing anything. You're not. That doesn't. Giving more representation for a company where, you know, that's the least you can do means nothing.

It means nothing. Because the real representation isn't just in the films. It's in the decision making. Because, you know, you zoom out. You say, well, where are those decisions being made they're made in rooms where these people i'm willing to bet the complexion of these rooms and the makeup of these rooms are not nearly as diverse as they want their content to be and i think that's the kind of shit that you know again like you're saying when you do the bare minimum it shows you're not really committed to change it's like if you're trying to work out and you say well what you're going to do today i'm like well i'm going to lift this can of soup over my head that's what i'm going to do for

my workout i'm like well that's not really that's not really challenging you i don't know how much change you can expect when you're not challenging yourself and by them just being like yeah i don't know i'll just tell these casting directors and development people to just put some more brown and gay in our things that's not going to be the change and that real change is who's making this who has a seat at the fucking table because that's where the representation i think like all underrepresented people say is like the real representation too that needs to happen is the people who have the power to pull these levers and say all right we'll do the equivalent of posting a black square on our instagram uh so you know this this again uh change happens at a glacial pace for certain

groups and it's hard to watch sometimes but we shall see if disney really want to make up for this disney should give one free year of tickets and a free stay at disney world to all marginalized people so uh straight white people you gotta pay for disney right everybody else go ahead and run them tickets baby can you imagine they fuck up though too and they're like we hear you that's why we have a new program called disney gross for all the people to enjoy the park and you're like are you for real that's not the fuck. Who thought of this? Yeah. What's her face?

And marketing thought it'd be a great idea. You know, tongue in cheek kind of thing. And you're like, we are. Might as well just put Song of the South back on. All right. Well, yo, I would go to Disney girls. I'm not even going to Disney girls. Disney girl land would be fucking this Negro land would be tight. They couldn't people and that's what man that's actually what you do it's like look this is it's shut down

it's only for if you're black you can come yeah if you're black come to disneyland and we're gonna have a cookout on the fucking in the french quarter we got a fucking second line coming through.
