I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. Every great player needs a foil. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Listen to the making of a rivalry, Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese,
Starting point is 00:01:52 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Elf Beauty, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports. Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Trending. Frazier is back, baby. I'm Jack. That's sports. People are waiting with bated breath. Villanueva is trending. Alex, the sheriff. Big sheriff. Alex is trending because he's doing straight up
Starting point is 00:02:37 openly authoritarian police state shit and executing a search warrant on the homes of people who are critical of him, including Sheila Kuehl. another one on Patty Giggins. Yeah, on the oversight committee.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Yeah, made up name, but is a real person from the oversight committee. And I think one of one of the warrants was like blank they're just like yeah we don't it's like yeah we can come in you're like what are you taking they're like i don't know it's odd the gigans they like towed her car they took the servers from her non-profit so like you can't even like run right now it's just very you know a lot of people they're saying like these are like the other investigations where a felony may have been committed in or around near or by the side of this place uh and while many others are just i think very plainly connecting the dots and
Starting point is 00:03:37 seeing like you know clearly when you're doing investigations into deputy gangs and stuff, maybe this is what the fallout looks like. Brett Favre is trending because he's involved in some shady tax welfare scam in Mississippi. It's him getting
Starting point is 00:04:01 money for his daughter's volleyball team in Southern Mississippi so they can have a new volleyball stadium. But it was money coming out of the funds for people who are in need. Yeah. There's this exchange with Brett Favre having a conversation with this person who's running this nonprofit. And he says, quote, if you were to pay me, is there any way the media can find out where it came from and how much? Nancy knew, no, we have never had that information publicized. I understand you being uneasy about that, though. Let's see what happens on Monday with the convention with some of us folks at Southern.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Maybe we'll click with them, hopefully. Okay, thanks. Wow, just got off the phone with Phil Bryant. That's the governor. He is on board with us we will get this done awesome i needed to hear that for sure hey great news fraud yeah yeah nancy has been um charged with like 13 counts i think of fraud or something yeah yeah it's fucking wild so you know this is uh they have like a sand facility or something it's like so wild when again this is like money that was meant for people in need and it's like you redirect that hey man my alma mater where my daughter goes could love some more volleyball shit yeah need indoor sand volleyball training facility um you gotta have that, Miles. I couldn't have a more aggressive
Starting point is 00:05:27 fuck you. What would the money go to? An indoor sand hut. I was not on board until I heard that it was a sand hut. Yeah. Anyway, so look, you got the former governor, you got Brett Favre and this lady funneling millions of dollars in welfare funds to make a sand hut for volleyball.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Amtrak is trending. They're shutting down some long distance trains. I think all of them actually. The impact of the impending rail strike. Yeah. Yeah. We'll talk about that more on tomorrow's show. But I mean, it's for something that it's amazing how little coverage there is about strikes coming up until it's too late for like the business owners. And then they're like, what are these guys doing?
Starting point is 00:06:17 Don't fucking tell people that they're being cooked in delivery trucks. Don't fucking tell people that they're scheduling uh regime here is so fucked up that people literally don't really know when they ever have days off to have doctor's appointments right and they work 80 to 90 hour weeks don't fucking talk and then when it's they're getting serious about striking all the pieces come out oh this couldn't come at a worse time for inflation if they strike how about getting mad at the fucking people who are causing these workers to not want to work right uh but anyway that's yeah massive massive disruptions massive disruption as they say on bloomberg uh but congress can step in and not on
Starting point is 00:07:01 not for the workers they can step in on the side of the railroads because of the way the labor laws are structured with the railroads. So yeah, you'll hear more about the tomorrow, but it's just, if this is something that would, obviously there hasn't been anything like this since 1980, like a massive,
Starting point is 00:07:19 like this kind of mass railroad strike. Yeah. And just the worst possible time for this guys if you could put it off until we get inflation in check that would be great yeah exactly god this would be bad for midterms this gives the republicans something to say wall street um so ken star is trending for for younger listeners who for whom that might not be a household name. I'm just going to read from this Fox News headline
Starting point is 00:07:49 to tell you who he is. Ken Starr was a historic legal figure and a truly decent human being. Right? I mean, that's basically that basically covers it. Okay. He was so first of all, he was the person in charge of the Clinton investigation that dragged out the Lewinsky scandal.
Starting point is 00:08:15 And just, you know, went hard after Clinton, despite being like all about public decency, you know, really dug in on detailed descriptions of blowjobs and put them front and center in the news, and then went on to be the president of Baylor at a time when Baylor was actively covering up sexual assaults know sex crimes on their campus just repeatedly during his tenure so and what was that what were the words they used again truly filed a historic legal figure and a truly decent human being wow they gotta go all in man, because when you actually describe things that have actually occurred, you'd be like, what? This fucking guy? Really? A truly decent human being.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Truly. Very strange, very strange way, you know, approach. I had a feeling they might not be totally on the up and up on that one. But yeah, he was at Baylor from 2010 to 2016. And it's dark. It is, he was at Baylor from 2010 to 2016 and it's dark. It is dark what was going on there. Alright, let's take a quick break. We'll come back. We got some Aaron Judge news.
Starting point is 00:09:34 We got some Serial news. The podcast. Yeah. The reason we're all listening. Not Serial, my favorite. Serial, the podcast. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This podcast is an intergenerational conversation between Latinas from Gen X to Gen Z. We're covering everything from body image to representation in film and television. We even interview iconic Latinas like Puerto Rican actress Ana Ortiz.
Starting point is 00:13:18 I felt in control of my own physical body and my own self. I was on birth control. I had sort of had my first sexual experience. If you're in your señora era or know someone who is, then this is the show for you. We're your hosts, Diosa and Mala, and you might recognize us from our flagship podcast, Locatora Radio. We're so excited for you to hear our brand new podcast senora sex ed listen to senora sex ed
Starting point is 00:13:47 on the iheart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast and we're back and aaron judge is a baseball player for the Yankees. All right. Confirmed. He hits the home run baseball real far. And he's going to... Why is he trending? He might be hitting home run baseball 60,
Starting point is 00:14:16 over 60 in one season. Which would be the most ever by a Yankee since the Roger Maris and Babe Ruth. You know, damn guy hit a lot of home runs and it's a big deal. Yeah, I do get it about this.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Just bring that stick. I can't, I can't, I can't help myself, but care about a guy hit, guy hit the, hit the home run. Hey man, you got to get to 74, fam. That's all
Starting point is 00:14:48 I know. Right. Then we're talking. I don't give a shit. Yeah, it is kind of over in terms of conversation. Can you do better than the guys on steroids? That's right. Then I will wait. He's clean, right? There's no allegations
Starting point is 00:15:04 about him. As far as we know. Yeah. Wasn't there a time when people were suspect being shady about him? Not that maybe it was warranted. Well, I don't think there's ever going to be a time in baseball where people see somebody who's all of a sudden hitting 20 more home runs than everybody else in the major leagues and aren't like, wait a second yeah
Starting point is 00:15:26 unless the player truly looks like shit like babe right which you know which would be so hilarious though like if you're like yo i still take steroids though this was wild i ain't really working out but like i feel it i don't know um that's probably how i would do it because i hate working out big poppy like was one of those home run hitters who just kind of looked like a he was a big dude but i think i think there are allegations that he was he had some some of those cream hey look it was it was allergy medicine that i used for my nasal spray all right i okay so i bummed a cigarette from someone uh on my way to enlisting in the military and that he worked at balco he worked at balco he had it all over his hands that person happened to have uh handed me a cigarette that was pure cocaine. That is the Hunter Biden
Starting point is 00:16:26 excuse. A guy was smoking a human growth hormone cigarette by my car and it wafted in. I think that's how it happened. We don't know and probably won't for many years if he's clean, but he is either one of the
Starting point is 00:16:42 great clean baseball players of all time or a below average steroid. That's not true. Even for steroids. Yeah, no, that's a lot of home runs. Swing that lumber around. You know what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Yeah, swinging the timbers, man. I see you. I mean, the only thing I'm focused on is the National League West, like when I ever check in on the baseballs. Yeah, yeah. The Yankees have actually been kind of falling apart post the All-Star break. Yeah, because, you know, we clinched.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Yeah, the Dodgers clinched, had a celebration, and then somebody was like, actually, we did the math wrong. You guys didn't clinch. So they clinched had a celebration and then somebody was like, actually, we did the math wrong. You guys didn't clinch. Um, but that, but they clinched again. Dodgers are on a tear.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Um, cereal is trending. S E R I A L. I don't know. I can't do the theme song. Brady violations say that they, okay. So I was just reading a random paragraph from the news story, but it seems like basically Adnan is going to get out.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Get another case. I mean, get another trial. Yeah, but it's looking very good for him based on what we're seeing here. The Baltimore State's Attorney's Office and his attorneys found that there were two more suspects and that the prosecutors didn't tell that information to his defense attorneys in the original case. And that was what is known as a Brady
Starting point is 00:18:18 violation. So that is why the prosecutors have filed a motion to vacate his conviction. Wow. So what they're saying, quote, this is from them, quote, the state's Brady violations robbed the defendant of information that would have bolstered his investigation and argument that someone else was responsible for the victim's death. These concerns are highlighted by the new information regarding alternative suspects and new evidence regarding the reliability of critical evidence at trial has caused the state to lose faith in the integrity of the convictions. Right.
Starting point is 00:18:50 I don't know, man. It seems eight years, man. Since didn't come out in 2014. That podcast seems right. Eight years now. They're about,
Starting point is 00:18:58 I mean, obviously he's been in there since 2000. Are you, I guess, I guess that happened so far before we even started this show that we never really discussed but do you do you have a strong feeling of on at the time i was like oh jay at the time i was like oh jay did that shit i didn't either i didn't think i had none yeah and then but then i was saying you are off mic i was like jay has been so shady that i'm like somehow
Starting point is 00:19:23 he's so shady i'm like i can't even rely on him because i think at one point he's like yeah i may have had some like was being real murky about it um well jay knew where the body was right and if that's the case it's either jay did it or adnan did it because adnan says he was with jay that day. I've gone to be like, okay, somebody has to have some theories as to how that happened or something. But all of the explanations, even
Starting point is 00:19:53 the Reddit threads about this, they're like, Adnan doesn't have to explain that. That's not his problem that Jay knew where the body was. And it's like, yeah, but we're trying to figure out what happened here. The thing is, there's still an investigation that that's ongoing so that's why they haven't said who these people are right they did say one of the suspects had threatened hayman lee saying quote he would make her disappear and he would kill her wow oh and that's one of the brady
Starting point is 00:20:22 violation that's what they kept kept back yeah because you know the police you know and again it's like what when eliamy was on talking about how fucking backwards uh shit can be when someone's like don't tell him that shit and we see this all the time when you see cops like who just get so focused like there's countless documentaries and true crime things about where the cops like that's our guy and they're like uh the dna i said that's our guy right i'm not fucking trying to do more work man it's it's it's enough there's enough shit there to make him look bad enough that we can get this conviction plus i'll keep them in an interrogation room to the point they break down and just cop to it so they can go home but they won't go home they go to jail it's brilliant i'm a cop um but truly if somebody
Starting point is 00:21:02 has an explanation for the how jay knew where the body was if it wasn't him or it wasn't adnan let me know it's like so it's been so fucking long too i'm like oh yeah what happened i just at this point just bring the bring the next the 2.0 podcast that'll just catch me up to date yeah and finally lauren bobert had a debate how to go yeah over the weekend um i don't know not good it's just just weird she's so like she's one of those people who can never acknowledge they don't know what they don't know right and just goes in strong into arguments and this is just one of the questions that her the person she's running against was just like asking about repealing
Starting point is 00:21:49 the 19th amendment which is about women's suffrage uh and then she talks just listen to this then he switches to ask about like abortion access i'm adam frisch i'm not nancy pelosi there was no do you think we should repeal the 19th amendment excuse me do you think we should repeal the 19th I'm Adam Frisch. I'm not Nancy Pelosi. There was no CBO score on this. We don't even know what it cost. Excuse me? Do you think we should repeal the 19th Amendment of the United States Constitution? No. Good. Should there be an exception for rape, incest, or the life of a mother when it comes to women's health care?
Starting point is 00:22:20 Is that in relation to the 19th Amendment, or we're just going on? No, I'm, you want to, most people have a pretty quick answer if they want to repeal the 19th Amendment or not. So they don't have anything to do with each other. But this was just sort of the pace of this like debate, which is wild, because I guess over there, like you can ask each other questions because then her opponent, Adam Frisch, asked this question, which sounds like a straight up just throwing shade, which I'm like, why can't we have more debates like this? Do you promise to serve your full term if reelected, even if your dream job of becoming a Fox News commentator comes up prior to the end of your second term?
Starting point is 00:23:02 I don't think that's my dream job. My dream job is actually just being a mom of four boys and raising my goats um that's my biggest dream uh holler boom got him it's a normal size collar asshole find a new angle um yeah so it was just like all this and then she kept talking about like nancy polo she kept saying talking as if nancy pelosi was there like she would start off things like nancy pelosi's running a con game well you know nancy like somebody did a super cut of her saying that that's why in that first clip adam first was like i'm not nancy pelosi just so you know let's talk about me the person's running anyway so just more weird oh then there was like another line she had yesterday where she said she was reading like from a Bible verse that had the phrase wanton violence in it.
Starting point is 00:23:50 And she said, what's wanton violence? That sounds. Whoa. Did she really? Yes. That was great. She was very like, oh, I don't know about that now. Oh, interesting.
Starting point is 00:24:00 A wanton, huh? Well, that sounds like she kind of like riffs on it a little bit, to like wrap her brain up around it uh and wanton violence huh yeah violence committed with a wanton that sounds hey i don't know man like a not effective weapon anyways didn't you just mention somebody saying that like in yesterday's episode yeah i was saying my friend was on a call it was just so funny my friend was on a call and he was just so funny. My friend was on a call and he's like, this person is consistently saying wanton violence over and over in this presentation. And then that thing came up and I sent it to him. I was like, hey, man. She's not alone, Miles.
Starting point is 00:24:33 She's not alone. You are not. Definitely. All right. Well, those are some of the things that are trending on this Wednesday. We are back tomorrow with a whole last episode of this show to celebrate the birthday of Prince Harry.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Thank you. Shout out Prince Harry. Mate. Massive birthday. Massive. No, no, man. It's about Harry. He's going through a lot.
Starting point is 00:24:56 He doesn't even have a last name. All right. Back then. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourself. Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we'll talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. Bye.
