Hello, welcome to this very special edition. I mean, they're all the same special.
Starting point is 00:02:05 I'm not trying to say they're more special than other editions. But welcome to this very special edition of Trendemaler. Shout out Trendemaler, the Danish electronic producer. I just randomly associated with the word trend. Cool music if you like some some kind of deep uh experimental electronic stuff anyway i'm here i'm miles i'm here with super producer becca what's up becca hello and let's just get into what's trending uh today is the trans day of visibility so uh you know obviously that's there to bring more awareness, attention, and just generally to get people to support not just transgender but non-gender conforming people around the world.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Because this day comes at a time when I feel trans people couldn't be more in the spotlight in the worst possible way as people ramp up bills that are meant to essentially just limit their ability to exist, essentially. It's really fucked up uh but you know i encourage people to you know again learn up read up don't uh don't take things if you don't know about them just read about them because i'm not saying everybody you know not everybody has the most diverse friend group yeah but you know part of having that empathy is like you know part of a day like this to create more awareness is to also create more empathy uh so you're not out here saying dumb shit that's you know totally regressive and transphobic so you know it's a again it's it's a day a massive importantly day considering the situation uh
Starting point is 00:03:38 especially the trans people in this country find themselves in absolutely yeah like donate to a cause i know that i don't remember what the organization is in texas but they're selling those like don't mess with trans kids shirts i want to buy one i know beto o'rourke is supporting them and bought the shirt that was like big on twitter today uh yeah google's free there's a lot of really amazing documentaries right now always watch paris is burning that's usually promoted around um i know pride but i love that um i mean if you don't know about willie ninja you know what are you doing if you don't know the name willie ninja you need to go you know that again uh paris is burning check that out but yeah please you know inform yourself educate yourself because uh people need
Starting point is 00:04:21 allies and part of that is understanding like what's at stake for people and understanding their experiences and also being chill with like people that aren't like you you know it's like just yeah generally yeah like something isn't like is out of your norm doesn't mean you have to hate it you know just like no except that you will never understand like inherently that experience and love that like yeah and that's okay that's dope the end of the day people need to spend more time finding ways to help people rather than finding ways to be like well they're different and don't deserve my attention or empathy because that's exactly because you know one day you might need somebody's empathy that's the thing you always have to consider absolutely um and if you're not putting it out there chances are you might not get
Starting point is 00:05:01 it back but let's move on to fox news uh other side of this coin yeah was this announced today yeah today this okay so on this day uh trans day of visibility caitlin jenner fox news said oh we just hired her to be uh one of our newest contributors and she'll be making it i guess her premiere or i guess as a contributor official contributor on hannity uh and i can only imagine what kind of backwards takes caitlin jenner will be saying uh it's i don't know i mean i feel like this is like the perfect person for fox news to try and absolutely like completely uh uh hijack the conversation about trans people uh and it's like we love gay people we have uh caitlin jenner and it's like no right who will
Starting point is 00:05:53 also say that doesn't mean the same who will also be out here with takes like we need to protect women's sports so that's it yeah a very convenient hiring uh but yes then hiring nonetheless uh and then in la what's trending today big big big day is r.i.p nipsey hustle because it's been three years uh since he was killed and you know was a really outsized figure in the la community and just in general a fantastic rapper who was on his way to the just soaring, soaring, soaring, and then tragically has his life taken away. So thinking about you, Nip. All right, let's take a quick break and we'll be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult.
Starting point is 00:06:47 And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling, firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation The series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or, can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about
Starting point is 00:08:21 that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is Season 4 of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history.
Starting point is 00:08:58 People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be
Starting point is 00:09:25 sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast
Starting point is 00:09:41 Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. In a galaxy far, far away. No, babe. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. Embark on a journey across the stars, discovering the wonders of the universe one episode at a time. We'll talk about life, love, laughter, and why you should never argue with your co-pilot. Especially when she's always right. Right. And if we hit turbulence, just blame it on Mercury retrograde. Or Emily's questionable space piloting skills. Hey, join us on In Our Own World for cosmic conversations, stellar laughs, and super corny dad jokes. Listen to In Our Own World as a part of the My Cultura podcast network available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:10:39 And don't worry, we promise to avoid any black holes. Most of the time. And we're back. Devin Nunes is trending. The, I don't know, I guess disgraced congressperson. I don't know, whatever you want to say. The man who bent over backwards for Donald Trump. He redefined bending over backwards when he was on the intelligence committee um you know people are
Starting point is 00:11:05 talking about him right now because truth social which was like trump media digital operations like twitter killer um they've we found out that there's been a 93 percent decline in signups that's not good at all no um and a lot of people to see that they're not or they have also succumbed to the app conundrum that people don't want to download new apps the marketing issue of it all right exactly no one wants to get on a new app so devin is also you know he was basically very comfortable in congress he had his own you know he basically had a seat that was not gonna flip uh and he left those comfortable waters to go be like the head of digital for trump because he really wanted to impress daddy donnie uh and now look at him you're at the helm of like a not even a sinking ship like
Starting point is 00:11:57 a on fire sinking titanic um and there you are you're holding the bag. So, you know, thoughts and prayers to you. Skippy is trending. Now, this is important. If y'all are out here eating peanut about 161,000 pounds of peanut butter products because they said that it's issued, quote, due to the possibility that a limited number of jars may contain a small fragment of stainless steel from a piece of manufacturing equipment. Absolutely not. And here I will go on on my advocation for sunflower butter.
Starting point is 00:12:43 I'm team sunflower butter. Right, right, right. Fuck the peanut butter industry. Fuck the nut butter industry. We're here for sunflower butter. I'm team sunflower butter. Right, right, right. Fuck the peanut butter industry. Fuck the nut butter industry. We're here for sunflower butter. And if you ate sunflower butter, you wouldn't have this problem. It's delicious.
Starting point is 00:12:53 It's the perfect sweet and nuttiness. And for all of us with allergies, can't beat it. Right, right, right. Yeah, I mean, quite literally. Like, this is a safe alternative. I'm not really a skippy person myself you know i'm more laura scutters i'm gonna keep it real because i just like the separation of
Starting point is 00:13:11 the oil and you're like yeah that's now that's that's some nut butter that we're dealing with um anyway and i like like i said i've said this on the show before you take a piece of toast you put a little bit of butter on then you put your nut butter on and now it's like an elevated more sort of uh decadent breakfast i'll add the butter next time what i do is toast the sourdough oh you put the sunflower butter and then put like a um a mulberry blackberry whatever jam you want to put a fancy ass jam on top and then you have like an elevated nut or i guess butter bread sandwich. PB&J, but sunflower butter. Right.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Deli sandwich. Well, jam on, y'all. Jam on. And then finally, Chris Rock is trending. He had a show in Boston. And again, everyone's like, what is going on? What did you do? And I guess on stage, he just said like the only I guess the one thing he said about the slap incident is that he's still processing what's happened.
Starting point is 00:14:08 I'm just so tired. Like, it was funny day one when we started talking about this, right? But now we're like day five. It's the people who are over, who are analyzing it to the extent of being like, and then this is going to lead to comedy death camps. Or, I mean mean i've never seen such violence on tv except january 6th and even then what is happening every day yeah if you watch the news it's violence everywhere to be honest uh if you know to look for it but i guess through a very narrow lens which is how can i be aghast uh what's happened i don't know uh i'll just say this you
Starting point is 00:14:47 know a lot of people they i was i tweeted i'm like i found out more about people from the discourse about the will smith chris rock slap than i did the summer of 2020 that was like saying a lot that's like the boss level of knowing when to shut the fuck up is people who jumped in with takes on this and you're like oh no no no no oh you really actually you you don't really see much of the dynamics in anything okay okay noted noted uh but yes especially when you see like my partner was showing me a video of like a podcast he watches which our podcast uh diet is very different and it was like just a bunch of dudes talking about it and i was like oh you know i don't really want to hear from men on the opinion of like how a woman feels when a man makes fun of her in front of her peers you know
Starting point is 00:15:35 like i was just like oh this is taking from me dude some dude you know but like what about and i'm like no like i don't want to hear it i'm tired i feel like every podcast i listen to this week including us of course we have to we're a news podcast let's talk about it and then i saw a tweet today which i didn't put in and it was funny that you put the chris rock thing it was like daniel radcliffe weighs in on the issue and i was like why are you asking daniel radcliffe what is and he's like i feel like everyone's talking about this and i don't want to and i was like fair but like the fact that I feel like everyone's talking about this and I don't want to. And I was like, fair. But like the fact that they even still made an article about you saying,
Starting point is 00:16:08 I don't want to talk about this. Right. And then put it at the top of my trending feed is bananas. I mean, they're, they're asking everybody for comment who don't, we don't need to hear from. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:18 But it's like, aren't y'all tired? There's really nothing else. I think it is. It's just giving people a moment to just be like, I don't know. I'm, I'm exhausted looking i think it is it's just giving people a moment to just be like i don't know i'm i'm exhausted looking at it and it's it's it's a non-story that i know that will be continued they're gonna squeeze every little fucking thing out of it uh to keep this thing going anyway um and we'll just kind of be like damn they're still on that shit still still on
Starting point is 00:16:43 that shit it's like it's like white benghazi or some shit you know they're of be like, damn, they're still on that shit? Still. Still on that shit. It's like white Benghazi or some shit, you know? Where they're going to be like, oh my God! And I guess it's like fun because it's like not Ukraine, you know? Like it's like crazy because it's like some of the biggest stars in the world, but it's not, it's like low stakes. Like it's like fun to talk about because it's low stakes. But I'm like, have we not squeezed every ounce of commentary out of this in the past four years and it allows people's subconsciouses to pop out anyway so that's what's trending today uh thanks so much becca for joining me
Starting point is 00:17:14 we'll catch y'all tomorrow with a brand new ep of the show uh y'all please be good allies out there you know what i mean know what it means to have any kind of uh you know privilege just ruminate on that and how good your life is and and then when you think of how good your life is think of how everybody deserves that and then absolutely please because everybody's out here just trying to fucking live and that's not a crime you know yeah i feel very blessed to have the friends that i have in my life that are a part of the queer community, that are trans, that have taught me so much, that, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:49 I consider myself a pretty woke person. But I have learned so much just from, you know, living with and being friends with those people. Shout out to them. I'm not putting them on blast, but I love them so much. They're some of my dearest friends.
Starting point is 00:18:00 And today's a big day. And I, you know, I'll be donating. I'll be buying that shirt as a fellow Texan. I think it's a fun shirt. But yeah, look into those causes. Make sure that they're, you know, I'll be donating. I'll be buying that shirt as a fellow Texan. I think it's a fun shirt. But yeah, look into those causes. Make sure that they're, you know, not just the general nonprofits, but you're looking at like the mutual funds and mutual aids, you know, things that will go directly to those trans folks that need support. Because, you know, a lot of these nonprofits steal money. So be careful.
Starting point is 00:18:23 All right, y'all. We will see you then, which is tomorrow. So take care. Bye. Bye. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church.
