Starting point is 00:02:02 or wherever you get your podcasts. So what do you do? Like a telecaster? Yeah. A Fender telecaster. Yeah, I think that's what it is. This is embarrassing. Just don't play any Stairway to Heaven, bro. There's no Stairway on that thing. I was just watching that sketch with Will Ferrell is the devil. And he's like, it's a Fender. What do you mean? The fucking sketch we refer to constantly on this show?
Starting point is 00:02:42 I had to, for tomorrow's AKA, I had to get a little prep. A little tease for y'all. It's a fender. The guitar is out of tune. It's a trender. It's a trender. Alright, that's all we're going to talk about.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Alright guys, thanks a lot. Let's tell the people, Miles. That's Miles, I tell the people miles uh that's miles i'm jack this is what's trending uh thailand is trending that got me excited you know because that's what they that's what you changed your address to he just said send my mail to jack o'brien thailand usa they know what to do every day when my wife gets home from the hospital welcome to thailand baby slap my to Thailand. I'm the mayor. Slap my thighs and get into a defensive position.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I slap my thigh and I give myself a really bad bruise. Why is Thailand trending, though? Oh, who could it be now? Let's just listen to this quote. ...production to Thailand and to Vietnam. Shifting production to Thailand. To to vietnam thailand and vietnam oh you got it nice good save generalissimo way to pull that one out poppy it was touch and go there it was touch and go there people almost thought you were ignorant uh man awesome yeah
Starting point is 00:04:01 that is something else huh that was at a rally in missouri i believe uh so that or no ohio ohio it was a speech he gave in ohio and people are just you know it's one of the great i don't know whatever yeah he said he's reading out loud okay that's what happens i'll be interested to see if uh any of this shit like the just the wild interview wild interview with Swan that he gave earlier, like if that does anything. Because his polling numbers, according to FiveThirtyEight, who takes the broad average of all polls, have stabilized and started actually moving in the approval direction.
Starting point is 00:04:42 So I'm just wondering if that might have been like last week when he had the conference and was like hey masks work and people were like oh thank god he's finally turned a corner um and maybe look regardless the thing we always would say is like yes that it gives us an idea where people are at and it's so funny how many headlines i see from the media being like oh man like now like trump's trump's odds just keep getting lower and lower and lower what like how can he save this sinking ship stop writing shit like that because it has an effect on people to really think that they're like oh it's over it's shit's done it's yeah president other like senile guy no No. Right. People still got to pull up and vote.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Because that's really the thing I feel like, God, can you imagine some fucking just lame turnout again? And, whoo! I mean, whatever, I'm ready for it. There's that. There's also the fact that the media still has at least one, maybe two more news cycles that they have to do where it's like, is Trump staging a comeback?
Starting point is 00:05:49 Is Biden in trouble? That's the only way to keep this story interesting. So they can't just keep saying Trump's in trouble the whole time. Yeah. I just get emotional when I think about our next subject, Mike DeWine, the governor of Ohio, Republican, who's gotten very positive feedback for his performance during the pandemic. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Because he's been extremely aggressive when it comes to how he deals with the pandemic. he just tested positive for COVID-19 so he was supposed to meet with El Presidente at some point fairly soon and that had to be cancelled hopefully he's alright I had to do I was like how's Louie Gohmert doing I looked into that
Starting point is 00:06:39 apparently he's asymptomatic although his daughter had a lot to say on social media she's like my dad's an idiot please just don't that's a great trend the conway daughter the louis garner's daughter she and but she doesn't even go by her she has like a stage name that she goes by and there's like some lyric apparently one of the songs she had written recently she's like you do everything wrong and still get away with it you're just like my father it was like one of the lyrics some of these people were like writing it up and like you know she's always got the smoke
Starting point is 00:07:08 for her dad so wait is she a country singer or something i have no idea i mean she had one like whimsical name so i mean she maybe she's doing like a you know bit of a like multi-talented thing like hold on i just want to pull up her name because it was something it's that she goes by caroline brooks but she's actually caroline gomert and bell saint is the other one so bell saint got it um singer songwriter man country that sounds like a good country name bell saint it's got the one just connotation Apparently she considers herself alternative Indy. Wow. All right. Take a look at her. Let's talk NBA shit. Ben Simmons out indefinitely for the,
Starting point is 00:07:50 for my Philadelphia 76ers. Just a very like mysterious. Suddenly he was limping injury. Sixers don't look great, but they're now two and one inside the bubble. The, the one loss came at the hands of the Pacers, who have... This is one of my favorite things that happens in sports.
Starting point is 00:08:11 When a dude just goes full Robert Redford in the natural, just comes out of nowhere and is just playing out of his mind. So this guy, TJ Ward, who's like... It's like his sixth season in the league. He's always been like somebody who like scores in the teens he's just a wing player he's fine and then out of nowhere first game in the bubble he dropped 54 on the Sixers and I was like well our defense it looks a little suspect but he's been like putting up 30 every game so that's that was like
Starting point is 00:08:43 that sort of answered my question because i'm always curious i'm like you know for some human like a personality type playing your game in that atmosphere might actually help you like tremendously i'm curious if like we do just see like bubble freaks come out and they're like i call them tj ward or tj warren it's tj warren uh i apologize uh yeah one thing they're seeing in the nba uh is that but like defense is actually worse uh like the just people's performances on defense and that actually makes sense when you think about the fact that first of all like offense is all about execution and also it just like has its own natural inherent reward of seeing the ball go through the hoop. Right. Whereas defense, I can totally see people needing the crowd
Starting point is 00:09:31 to get amped up to play defense because it's all about hustle and effort. So that's something to kind of keep an eye on. No team is averaging under 100 points other than your Los Angeles Lakers. Well, we've already clinched. I know. I do wonder. People are freaking out.
Starting point is 00:09:52 I'm like, settle down. Put everybody in a fucking Tupperware. Put LeBron and AD in Tupperware and just put them in a bubble within a bubble and let's just get to the postseason. Let's just get there. Either way, there's something to watch at least that isn't me watching another terrible Hallmark Christmas film
Starting point is 00:10:10 in the middle of August. Yeah, I am enjoying it more than I think I've ever enjoyed NBA basketball. So I might be having a Tiger King effect where I'm like, this is the greatest thing I've ever seen. But I don't know if that's just you know uh core brain or if yeah if I mean the level of play is not bad it's not like that was one concern heading in was are they going to be out of shape is this just going to be like there's that uh strike shortened season that happened in the early 90s that was like kind of bad i think it was also it also
Starting point is 00:10:46 lined up with them moving the three-point line in so it just was bad the whole year anyways mulan tenant uh those are both trending because disney is coming out and you know trolling this is something they've been known to do in the past with their release schedule. So the only two big budget blockbusters that were very close to release when the country shut down were Mulan and Tenet. And Tenet has scheduled Labor Day for their release in theaters. They're hoping theaters are open. They're going to do a limited release. If it plays well, they'll expand. There's a lot of ifs in there, but nobody's expecting things to go smoothly. It is the pandemic. So they get to be underdogs, all that stuff, even though they're a $ million dollar movie well uh disney was like
Starting point is 00:11:47 yeah so we have the other big blockbuster that is just ready to roll and sitting in our burning a hole in our pocket mulan we're gonna release it on disney plus that same weekend uh so even though that it would be easy and probably like get more eyeballs on it if they released it any time between now and when Tenet comes out, they're like, nah, fuck your Tenet. They're like, watch this, fool, because some of y'all got kids. Right, exactly. And then you're really going to try and get to a movie theater right now when we're putting Mulan on streaming at home?
Starting point is 00:12:20 Yeah. Welcome. Yeah. Welcome to Disney World. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that part. That part. That's an interesting kind of geeky entertainment story.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Remember, that's the only way they can get excited. They're just like, yeah, fuck it, man. I don't know. We get some competition going. Right. Then Cameron Diaz is trending because she had a conversation with Gwyneth Paltrow about why why vaccines are dangerous so that's um why they were talking about from acting miles yes yes yes yes it's I mean it makes sense she was just sort of like you don't have time when you're an actor
Starting point is 00:12:58 like you they're there you're on set all the time and then you have to do marketing stuff and then you gotta go to like Golden Globes and that and the other so i think she's really just saying it just seemed like she was like i want to live a life live a normal human life yeah rather than being battered around by the industry she called it infantilizing which is seems like a very kind of aware way to describe the life of a celebrity. She was like, I'm most tired of people treating me like I needed everything done for me. Yeah, Cameron, hit me. Oh, who's your therapist? I know, seriously.
Starting point is 00:13:35 I like that realization. It's almost like, Cameron, from what you're saying, you're regressing into an almost infantilized point. Right. Yeah. Anyway, shout out to her. She's a new mother. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Her and Benji Madden, right? Yes. What was that? Good Charlotte, bruh. Good Charlotte, bruh. Anyways, shout out to them. It's good for them. Who's Joel Madden with?
Starting point is 00:14:01 Wasn't he with? Was he with? Oh, Nicole Richie. They're still together. I was going to say hill yeah uh all right guys that's what's trending this afternoon we hope uh you guys are staying home staying safe washing your hands wearing masks being kind to each other being kind to yourselves uh don't do nothing about white supremacy and we'll be back tomorrow with a whole new podcast and we'll talk to y'all then. Bye.
