Hello, everybody, and welcome to this edition of Trends On Me, like a sauna, some commas, some pointers. Okay, anyway, that's from a hotel lobby. Some trends on me. We got some trends on me. And by me, I mean me. I i'm miles and i'm joined by dj daniel goodman what up happy to be here wow wow wow you're on that griselda fashion rebel a fashion rebel wow you're such a fashion rebel uh daniel good to see you let's tell people what is trending first up let's just talk about Kyrsten Sinema. She is, she, I mean, she was the Democratic senator from Arizona.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Turns out this morning, she was feeling like, doom, doom, doom, question. Can I be an independent? She's an independent woman now, independent senator. She is in the, she's an independent. She's not a Republican. She said she will not caucus with Republicans. But although she will still play nice with them. And we shall see. We'll see where that goes. Yeah. She will not caucus with Republicans, but although she will still play nice with them,
Starting point is 00:02:26 and we shall see. We'll see where that goes. We'll talk about it more on Monday's episode, but rest assured, in terms of the majority, that's not at risk, which is probably maybe why she thought this was the time to do it, so she didn't go full villain.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Not very effective. No, no, not at all. Not at all. So, yeah, good riddance, and check you villain, but... Not very effective. No, no, not at all. Not at all. So, yeah, good riddance, and check you later. Channel France is trending. Yes, that is true. France just made condoms free
Starting point is 00:02:56 for 18 to 25-year-olds, and we support that. Big love here for big love in France, in Paris, and so, you know, shout out all our French people who get to be doing it and not have to worry about paying for condoms. That's so interesting. So what happened was the government saw that the country was experiencing a 30% increase in STIs. And they say, you know what?
Starting point is 00:03:19 Maybe do some. Isn't that wild? Have your government take action to something that they see as a problem in their country? Yes. So yeah, uh, that, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:26 they saw that increase between 2020, 2021. And, um, yeah, they were like, let's make, let's make something happened.
Starting point is 00:03:31 And, uh, there you go. Condoms turns out they're effective. Also side note, just so you know that this isn't one directional earlier this year, that same government made contraception free for all women up to the age of 26.
Starting point is 00:03:44 So it's not just like, Hey dudes, be wrapping it up for free. No women up to the age of 26 so it's not just like hey dudes be wrapping it up for free no worries this is for everybody who needs everybody's got everybody's got options everybody's got options wow good for them over there in french town oh daniel what else happened oh what else happened to maxwell frost i heard he's ass out in these dc streets his name is trending and i I was like, what happened to the young Gen Z congressman? What happened? This really sucks, but it also is like a trend that totally is like...
Starting point is 00:04:11 I don't even think it's the first time that it's happened, but it's just like, you know, for the first Gen Z-er, it's the truth. Can't get into an apartment. Can't find somewhere to live in the place where he works now because, you know, during his campaign he incurred a little debt. Kind of his uh kind of hurt his uh you know his credit rating a little bit and because of that the housing communities of washington dc are like yeah you know sorry about
Starting point is 00:04:35 that not letting you rent here they're like yo man get your credit up they're like you got a co-signer yeah how is it yeah exactly got a co-sign from aoc how do you not have like what's the but what's the deal like why is it not something that you know why is there no exemption for this kind of thing how is it not like an understood facet of campaigning that you have to put your own money into something and i mean sometimes but yeah i mean you're right you're right sometimes sometimes you just be getting that pack money and that's yeah exactly but like smoking on that there should be an even greater exemption for that like you put your own money into this thing well then sheesh maybe we should help you out that makes sense but yeah come on come on daniel there's no sense in place they're
Starting point is 00:05:16 like oh what you're gonna go broke trying to run a campaign based on empathy and shit good luck getting a fucking apartment in dc bullshit it's unfortunate hey look if you got a spot in dc and you want to let this young man crash there somebody got a spare room hit him up i'm but yeah i'm sure he'll be all right like typically what'll happen is i mean the the dark side of things will be like if there's a if he was like wrapped up in that you know real swampy money they'd be like oh yeah i got an apartment for you man why don't i just rent that for like 20 bucks you're don't I just rent that to you for like 20 bucks?
Starting point is 00:05:46 You're good. That is true. But this is also the kind of story that I feel like once it comes out, some landlord is like, oh, I got you. No worries. Get over here.
Starting point is 00:05:54 Yeah. Alas. I mean, shout out to the landlords, right? We don't say that enough. Bro, shout out to the landlords. Not get enough credit. Let me tell you something. Talk about underrepresented communities.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Landlords. Yeah. When are we going to see more landlord stories? You know what I mean? Like, if we're really going to show everybody, like, seriously. I'm just saying. Come on. Where's Paul Blart landlord?
Starting point is 00:06:16 You know? Paul Bart landlord. Shit. All right. Let's take a break, and we'll be right back. So Daniel can hit me to everything that's going on in gaming because i'm old i'm jess casaveto executive producer of the hit netflix documentary series dancing for the devil the 7m tiktok cult and i'm cleo gray former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church.
Starting point is 00:06:45 And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:07:31 or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions. Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or, can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice.
Starting point is 00:08:03 And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Sanner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:08:37 I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry. Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really hear them voice.
Starting point is 00:08:57 I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained?
Starting point is 00:09:20 This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. And we're back. Daniel. Yes, sir. The Game Awards, they went sir the game awards they went down oh they went down last night let me tell you something it was the biggest night in video games baby and that's what we call it
Starting point is 00:09:54 jeff keely gets on stage he announced what is it who puts on these awards first of all literally this guy jeff keely it's he he created the video game awards they're not like a body of some kind they just it's like the oscars and that there's like an academy but the academy is just whoever jeff keely sends out his invitations to that's just how it works oh shit okay so this and do you trust this guy like his opinion like is he the one who solely judges this too no so it's like it's you know it's a um it's a it's a it's an award body it's like an academy it's not just him he sends out ballast to he starts right right right got it yeah he just started he just started it and also hosts it which is hilarious is he is he a good host yeah he's
Starting point is 00:10:35 good sorry okay you know what he is he is perfectly charismatic on stage and doesn't fuck up or say too much cringe shit which yeah everybody else does so first of all first award that was announced was best performance in a video game which went to um can't remember his name right now but the guy who plays uh kratos and god of war but more importantly the person that gave him that award al pacino i'm sorry what yes al pacino walks out on stage confused as hell it starts off with so i can't read the teleprompter that well but uh let me tell you something it might not come as a surprise to you i don't play a lot of video games raucous
Starting point is 00:11:10 laughter he just brings the crowd down with that one but yeah it was just that was kind of like the beginning of what was this like parade of like hey we managed to book this star this time right so uh so come on out and also another thing was funny was that jeff you know with your your standard like opening ceremony kind of announcer person or like the person who's hosting the show they tend to roast people in the audience right but jeff was just like hey check out who we got here you know guy who runs nintendo's here doug bowser there you are and just like camera onto doug bowser all right hey you're a guy cool hideo kojima's here you see that hey isn't that cool alright hey Kojima-san alright exactly
Starting point is 00:11:48 that shit I always roll my eyes like at those kind of events when like these western people are like yeah there's Hideo hey Kojima-san great to see you happy to have you bro I like when people hit you with the sun they hit you with the sun they're just sitting there seething like, don't you fucking talk
Starting point is 00:12:06 to me. God damn it. Takes the goddamn camera out of my face. I'm trying to make a better video. So, I mean, in terms of awards that were given out, not like any of this matters, but Game of the Year went to Elden Ring, which was, to many gamers, absolutely zero surprise. But what is always a highlight...
Starting point is 00:12:22 And you told me when it came out. Because I was like, bro, I know this. I know people are fucking with it. Right. But I was like, I don't know. I don't know if it's me. And you were like, it might not be. And you described it to me.
Starting point is 00:12:35 And I was like, yeah, I don't have the patience quite. Let me tell you something. Not me either. I don't like that game. Really? Gave it a try. Don't like it. Not my style.
Starting point is 00:12:43 But I do recognize that it's very good, and it getting Game of the Year is totally reasonable. Right, right. I mean, I saw the graphics. I saw how much joy it brought to the gaming world, and I was like, okay, for sure. What was last year's Game of the Year? It Takes Two.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Did you play that? Oh, really? Yeah. It Takes Two. Like twice. Okay. I like that. Great game. Great game. Okay. But I think the big, you know, I shouldn't say the big, I don't know, winner, surprise, the best part about the Gaming Awards is that it's also just advertising central.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Drop your trailers. It's almost like E3 in that, like, instead of having this, like, this one conference for every company, and they still do those sometimes, but, like, the Game Awards is like, okay, you got a fat trailer throw it out there yeah so we got hades 2 oh we got on the switch yes sir we got i love stranding 2 it was so good the the amount of the trade literally trailers wise this was out of this world we have hades 2 or the death strizzy one oh you're saying overall like overall just the amount of games that were like announced like basically like you know after 2020 when so many games were like pushed
Starting point is 00:13:48 back you had the okay now we need a year of development because we're now working from home so there were things that were pushed back to 2021 then you had the well we were going to announce in 2020 but now we're pushed back to 2022 and then you had the games that were like actually we don't want to get caught up in the fracas of all of the games that were in 2020 getting squeezed into 2022. And that's this year, or this upcoming year, 2023, where you have your Breath of the Wild 2.
Starting point is 00:14:14 You have your Horizon Forbidden West DLC, which is special for me. You have Armored Core 6. You have Tekken 8, Final Fantasy 16, Hades 2. This game Judas, made by the people who did what you call it a Bioshock you have Street Fighter 6 getting more information coming out you have
Starting point is 00:14:32 or spoken a demo came out today like right Aldersgate 3 Remnant 2 so many games so much stuff got announced and it was just like let me tell you some Christmas early eating next year. I know you, look, we talked earlier.
Starting point is 00:14:47 You're all about Armor Core 6. What was the second most exciting thing you saw? I think Hades 2 was really, really up there, because in terms of darling games that kind of grasped everybody, Hades was a game that had been in beta for a little while and was on Steam
Starting point is 00:15:03 and stuff, but then when it came to the Switch, it just completely exploded in terms of its audience so many people were playing hades and for hades 2 to come out not too far after when people are really like screaming for another roguelike like that like yeah i think that's gonna be a big winner it's just i mean that's just like you know give the fans what they want kind of action damn i'm big in a while yeah it's it's very exciting yeah i've been playing more switch just because like dude i can't why not i'd already got my foot in gran turismo oh yeah i mean like to the point where fifa 20 i'm like man i'm scoring too many goals i can't even you're clapping too hard dude i respect honestly the switch and with the release of the steam deck
Starting point is 00:15:43 as well like the handheld people don't want to either have a big gaming rig, or sit in front of their TV. Or maybe you do! You got your handheld! I love it! Get some handheld shit on, that sounds wonderful! I love that. I love games on Switch. It's great.
Starting point is 00:16:00 It's great. Handheld gaming making a huge comeback. While it may not be a Game Boy, it's your Switch, it's your Steam Deck. Big love. Big love over there so a lot of things came out i i encourage you to keep your uh ear to the ground and and watch those trailers as they come out star wars jedi survivor trailer it's like there's so many things death stranding 2 super fucking excited about that oh is that the follow-up to fallen order uh yes it is exactly thank you miles yeah star wars yeah yeah fallen order it is the follow-up to that i was looking with that game it looks great watch the trailer fallen order absolutely i played fallen order dude when that
Starting point is 00:16:34 one level and i think it's like end or end or adjacent but when you're climbing on that at at dude and you have to like fucking maneuver around i around. I was like, yo, thank you for this kind of world-building. Yes. Just, like, nailing exactly what people want out of a Star Wars game. And so I think they're doing that again
Starting point is 00:16:54 with this new Jedi game. So I'm stoked. I'm stoked. Is this Jedi, is it the same person? Is it Starkiller or is it some other person? Same person.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Where are the Black Jedis at? Where are the Black Jedis? That's a good question. Where are the Jedi is it where are the black guys that's yeah we're the jedis of where the jocs at the j come on lucas where are the jocs like i know you did this a solid with fucking mace windu but shit like come on now yeah anyway all right y'all i think that's about it yep that's it uh well thank you so much for joining us if you've got something to do friday good for you if you want something to do that will absolutely split your sides, and you can see me, I don't know, Steve Heitner,
