Starting point is 00:00:33 I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project. All you need to do is record everything like you always do. What was that? Starting point is 00:02:01 Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of trendy beasts uh based off of the new netflix show sexy beasts uh which is not based on the ben kingsley movie but is based on uh i don't know what you'd say this is based on like blind love is blind mixed with mass dancer mixed with yeah mass singer yeah exactly mass mass dancer is the new one sorry i'm more of a mass dancer fan mass dancer actually would be way i'm more into mass it's coming out it is for real yeah bro oh fuck okay well i'm stupid all right cool but yeah the whole premise of that is just like hey what if these people look like fucking monsters and shit, even though their bodies are like very normal and conventional? Yeah. And yeah, so it's a dating show where the person has to spend three hours in a makeup chair before every date, like getting just absurd levels of makeup done to them to make them look like a movie like
Starting point is 00:03:07 a character from like a bad monster movie right and the premise is that like what if someone looked like some dinosaur bird like with you know i'm not the makeup is fucking legit i thought when i first saw the trailer on mute i thought it was like a new makeup show like you know trying to do like who can do like the best character like creature makeup but these people got legit wacky sort of character makeup on but i wonder like if that is gonna fuck with some dude he's like you know actually like i'm kind of fucking with like owl face type people now right like more than like the human shit like maybe and then like they see their real face at the end they're like you know i was kind of feeling that like granny makeup that you had on to be real like i kind of accepted this person in front of me but i don't know it's uh
Starting point is 00:03:50 yeah no the makeup is really good it's just the character design definitely feels more like it's from a bad movie or like oh yeah yeah yeah yeah anyways that's something that was trending yesterday, I think. Trending right now is Rudy. A message to you, Rudy. No more law license, homie. Yep. Not allowed to practice law anymore. Stop your fucking around.
Starting point is 00:04:15 Ah. Stop telling Trump's big lie. Yeah, he got his law license fucking ruined. He can't lawyer for a while. There was also a really good video from Andrew Giuliani where he was like. Oh, no, I forgot about it. He was like, this is an activist judge decided to revoke my father's law license. But the video is like his head at the bottom of like just like four fifths of the screen is just like background.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Uh, for some reason, somebody just tweeted great use of heads or great, uh, use of empty space. Uh, I thought that was, I love the composition.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Yeah. Yeah. The negative space just to give yourself this further feeling of alienation from society. It really underscores that. So that's trending. trending uh couldn't happen to a better person uh mile 420 is trending miles uh aka miles 420 why why is mile 420 uh trending uh did you see this um tweet that was from like this local news station that was saying like the the headline was looks like a normal teen's bedroom right think again coming up on kmov we'll show you what parents should be
Starting point is 00:05:30 looking for so they can discuss so they can identify signs of drug use i was shocked at what i found in this room hashtag stl um have you seen this no let me say i'm gonna put this in the chat here real quick what look? Look at this photo. So a lot of people were laughing at this because it's clearly not someone's room. It's clearly like a, like an empty office at the broadcast station of this news channel. And in it is like the, I guess,
Starting point is 00:06:00 Gen Xers idea of what like, like Zoomer drugie kids or younger, like they get down with, cause there's a mile 420 sign. There's like a tie dye, like blanket that's like put up with like painter's tape on the wall. I'm like this, what is it?
Starting point is 00:06:17 It also looks like it has like a shoot, like a, a porno shoot, like lighting in there for some reason because they left the gigantic light panel in there to completely be like this is not someone's room again this is you setting
Starting point is 00:06:33 up a weird fake room for your bit about kids that use drugs because they have they support Mizzou based on the stuff in the room like I don't know wow and I mean they support Mizzou based on the stuff in the room. Like, right. Um,
Starting point is 00:06:47 wow. And I mean, I'm sure, I'm sure people tuned in for it though. I wonder what they're going to say. Like what weird new age shit. They're like, they're smoking the reefers cause they have,
Starting point is 00:07:01 they drink Red Bull. Hey, looks like a pretty normal teens bedroom, right? Right. Exactly. Like, I don't know who is this fool. Cause like,
Starting point is 00:07:09 this is nobody I would kick it with. It's a way too clean to be a teens bedroom. Right. The painter's tape, like would lead you to believe that there's a tunnel that they're tunneling their way out behind that. Right. You're saying it's so like,
Starting point is 00:07:22 yeah. Oversensationalized. Like it's just like, and behind here is their they've dug into the ground to their underground uh dab lab as they call it it's like what the fuck in horrifying news uh surfside is trending because a condo in miami just like partially collapsed it's wild did you see the footage of that i didn't see the footage of it collapsing yeah there was a security cam thing it looked like a controlled demolition it was really freaky how
Starting point is 00:07:51 this building collapsed i mean they they i mean they there's still a lot of people missing to the point that they're not even sure how many people they're looking for um but some people have been pulled out of the rubble but it's just a really um like tragic scene um out there but yeah it's a very yeah it's it's definitely hard to watch like it's a go it's a dream i have a lot like growing up because like you're on the sixth floor and suddenly the whole yeah like japan like there's a lot of people live in like high-rise apartment buildings and like and also like i had a lot of people live in like high-rise apartment buildings and like and also like i had a fear of heights like when i when i was a kid so i was like oh god like what if you fell off of this and just like that's my own shit but no no i have that
Starting point is 00:08:34 i have that dream too that like you're in a higher floor in a building and then you realize that like the whole building is falling down yeah um maybe this isn't a good anecdote to share because people are literally uh yeah in this thing so uh brian cut that part out but all that to say um yeah right now the rescue operations are ongoing and they've they've brought a lot of like infrastructure to try and remove the rubble and things like that but um yeah yeah uh well i hope they recover more people um alive absolutely um all right let's take a quick break and we'll be right back this summer the nation watched as the republican nominee for president was the target of two assassination attempts separated by two months these events were mirrored nearly 50 years ago when President Gerald Ford faced two attempts
Starting point is 00:09:29 on his life in less than three weeks. President Gerald R. Ford came stunningly close to being the victim of an assassin today. And these are the only two times we know of that a woman has tried to assassinate a U.S. president. One was the protege of infamous cult leader Charles Manson. I always felt like Lynette was kind of his right-hand woman. The other, a middle-aged housewife working undercover for the FBI in a violent revolutionary underground.
Starting point is 00:09:56 Identified by police as Sarah Jean Moore. The story of one strange and violent summer. This is Rip Current, available now with new episodes every Thursday. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life.
Starting point is 00:10:18 It's too late for that. I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project. All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours. BPM 110. 120.
Starting point is 00:10:34 She's terrified. Should we wake her up? Absolutely not. What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything?
Starting point is 00:10:49 You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people. There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Starting point is 00:11:39 Think a candied bacon Bloody Mary, tacos with cabbage slaw, curry cauliflower with almonds and mint, and cherry slab pie with vanilla ice cream to top it all off. I mean, yum. I'm getting hungry. But if you're not sold yet, we also have kitchen tips like a foolproof way to grill the perfect burger and must-have products like the best cast iron skillet to feel like a chef in your own kitchen. We're back with season two of the Amber and Lacey, Lacey and Amber show on Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network. You thought you had fun last season? Well, you were right. And you should tune in today for new fun segments like Sister Court and listening to Lacey's steamy DMs. We've got new and exciting guests like Michael Beach. That's my husband. Daphne Spring, Daniel Thrasher, Peppermint, Morgan J., and more.
Starting point is 00:12:52 You got to watch us. No, you mean you have to listen to us. I mean, you can still watch us, but you got to listen. Like, if you're watching us, you have to tell us. Like, if you're out the window, you have to say, hey, I'm watching you outside of the window. Just, you know what? Listen to the Amber and L lacy lacy and amber show on will ferrell's big money players network on the iheart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcasts and we're back and tyrian is trending uh spelled like tyrian lannister from game of thrones uh
Starting point is 00:13:31 because hbo tweeted which three hbo characters do you want to have dinner with question mark uh that's pretty i mean so samantha's a shoo-in, right? Samantha, you're putting in there. You're putting Samantha in there? Hmm. I don't know, man. Samantha's a riot. No, I don't know about Samantha. Yeah, actually, no.
Starting point is 00:13:54 This is, yeah. That would be, actually, yeah. This is good. I like this. We're going to start with Samantha, and I put Al Swearingen and Tony Soprano. Yeah. Or like Swearingen and maybe Pauly Walnuts. I think that would be interesting.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Or someone like really off, like who will go off because the three of them, they're going to piss each other off. And I'm literally just going to eat silently and watch and be like, oh my God. Are you worried about like just a shooting happening? well no weapons we have a no weapons policy okay because samantha would be like oh my god al you smell like shit what are you from the mining town he'd be like what are you talking about you son of a bitch and then like you know what i mean like i don't know yes swearing is a great call shots shots at each other um hmm trying to think maybe the the russian guy who they could never kill
Starting point is 00:14:50 uh oh put the universal remote on docking station from the pine barrens from the pine barrens uh i'm trying to think of the best sopranos character to actually like eat with i feel like because character to actually like eat with cause Tony I feel like is one of those people that we know so much about Tony yeah he knows how to act too like he'd pick his shots like yeah
Starting point is 00:15:12 I feel like really like midlife crisis Artie Bucco yeah that would get like real like he probably couldn't handle Samantha's mouth yeah anyone from the wire and leave trying to think if i feel like stringer bell will be too buttoned up to be interesting um i guess it all boils down to what do you want your dinner to be like not like a good
Starting point is 00:15:37 conversation because clearly i'm picking straight up chaos and screaming right and you're trying to like put i mean swear engine just stirs the pot on anything and is a great call. Brett, Brian, uh, super producer Brian is suggesting Brett and Jermaine from Flight of the Conchords. Oh shit. Watching Brett and Jermaine like, and like Samantha's hitting on them and having to like navigate that would be kind of funny too.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Yeah, that would be a blast the lead character from the show we'll be discussing on Monday's episode Starstruck oh yeah yeah she would be a lot of fun to hang out with anyone from nah no one from Mare of Easttown
Starting point is 00:16:18 all the dad from Mare of Easttown with the handlebar stash, dude. That guy would be such a blast to chill with. Just like drink a 30-pack with and have him just cry and throw punches at the air. Yeah, I'm trying to think. Is there... Who am I...
Starting point is 00:16:38 There's so many good shows. Like... You know who has a good time? Anyone from Veep? Would you have any? Oh, yeah. The Veep from veep would be great julia louis-dreyfus's character whose name is i'm drawing a blank on uh john tutoro's character from the night of he was pretty uh funny dude he had the skin condition but i don't think he smelled
Starting point is 00:17:01 so yeah um so you got selena meyer in there huh selena yeah selena samantha uh super producer anna is saying gene smart from hacks uh the mom yeah the mom from uh mayor of easttown i guess uh also played by gene smart from watchmen gene smart from hacks and gene smart from mayor of eastabee's Town. There it is, folks. There it is. Done and done. Oh, yeah. Greg from Succession. Cousin Greg.
Starting point is 00:17:30 See, oh, okay. Oh, Greg from Succession. Oh, right. Okay. Yeah. Anna nailed it. So it's Cousin Greg from Succession, Debra Vance, which is Gene Smart from Hacks, and Samantha, just to have them rip his ass apart. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:47 I don't think that can be beat. I'm trying to think if Westworld had anybody that'd be interesting. Probably not. Yeah. Again, I think we're only focused on the pure entertainment. I'm sure you could have something really interesting conversations with people from more of the prestige shows, but I just can't. I can't see past just watching people gang up on Cousin Greg at a dinner.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Yeah. Khal Drogo and Cousin Greg would be interesting. Oh, wow. And Samantha, too. Just because she would try and hit on Khal Drogo. Oh, yeah. That's what goes on. Or Khal Drogo, Samantha, and Khaleesi,
Starting point is 00:18:31 maybe to see if they start fighting over him or something weird like that. Because then Samantha would just get torn up. But she'll try. Yeah. I'd let him tattoo me. Something like that. I don't know. I'm not good at Samantha-style sex talk. I'd let him tattoo me something like that i don't know i'm not good at samantha style
Starting point is 00:18:46 that was my best uh best i could do um all right so i'll call drago when i'm horny i'll let him call drago me to bed. Conan is trending. His show is coming to an end. Not the podcast, the TBS show. And, you know, in addition to being an inspiration to a lot of funny people, he gave a lot of funny people their break. You know, he's always had an eye on the stand-up scene
Starting point is 00:19:25 and they had really good i saw a lot of really funny stand-ups there for the first time um so just a lot of people shouting him out and yeah and a lot of people lamenting that they won't be on conan too that's true fuck everybody was on Conan. I still didn't get to go on. Do you have a favorite Conan character? Yeah, maybe, like, Pimp Bot. Right. Coked Out Werewolf, I think. Coked Out Werewolf is pretty good. I really liked.
Starting point is 00:19:58 FedEx Pope is, FedEx Box Pope is good because of, like, how just lazy it is and i i feel like that that gets it like what's great about this character i think i just like coked out werewolf because there was just a character on tv called coked out werewolf yeah um and just for that alone i think i'll always have a place in my heart but really i missed like the bits he used to do when he was on the later later like that that his late old slot before the tonight show and he did more like sort of man on the street type bits he's so good at man on the street shit like yeah unbelievable his yeah he's a very funny dude he has a podcast uh i hear that but, and finally blue alert is trending because everybody in Florida got a message,
Starting point is 00:20:49 um, on their phone. That was like this cop killer, like be on the lookout. And it's, it's kind of using the logic of the, uh, Amber,
Starting point is 00:21:00 Amber alert that we occasionally get. But anytime something bad, something bad anytime a cop is shot they call it a blue alert and can't imagine how this would go bad yeah I can people with a lot of not useful tips probably too
Starting point is 00:21:18 yes to so more chaos like what is what are they well they know what they're doing but yeah I can't believe that they think so many people are going to be like, oh, let me rush to the rescue of this while I myself am being destroyed by the very state I live in. Anyways, those are the things that are trending here on this Thursday afternoon. We are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show.
Starting point is 00:21:45 Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Wear a mask. Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. Bye.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Bye. I'm Dr. Laurie Santos, host of the Happiness Lab podcast. As the U.S. elections approach, it can feel like we're angrier and more divided than ever.
