Starting point is 00:02:01 Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Vita Trend Zeit. by Diet Coke. It's impossible to say, Miles. And you are Miles and I am Jack. And these are some of the things that are trending on this Wednesday, November 2nd in the afternoon. Pennsylvania is trending because it has begun. Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ordered election officials to quote in the state to refrain from counting mail-in ballots that lack a written date on their outer envelope, siding with Republicans in a matter that could have national implications. So yeah, it's, it's, it's happening. It's, it's already, it's already beginning with contested ballots. So yeah, this is, you know, we'll see what happens long-term strategy that you know we were expecting to see payoff and there's the first domino we'll see how it goes yeah how it continues to pay i mean this is this goes along with like you've seen again talked about fucking vigilante motherfuckers at drop boxes in arizona yeah in florida like that black guy who
Starting point is 00:03:26 was like a felon they like they arrested him for voting and then like later released him there there's a lot happening to try and completely you know prevent people from voting and in some cases just completely under just subverting it like i don't know if fucking they didn't write i know before those votes counted but now because it turns out the numbers are against fascism then maybe um we could throw those ones out without the dates on them yeah and then we're sort of in this weird like two-pronged where we're seeing what they've got in store for the upcoming midterm election and we're also like having details of their last attempt to overthrow democracy kind of trickle out.
Starting point is 00:04:07 So, uh, Trump and Clarence Thomas are, are trending because, uh, Trump's attorneys basically saw a direct appeal to Supreme court justice, Clarence Thomas, as their best hope of derailing the 2020 presidential election certification.
Starting point is 00:04:27 So they were basically like, we need to target him. We want to frame things so that Thomas could be the one to issue some sort of stay or other circuit justice opinion saying Georgia is in legitimate doubt. That was what Trump's attorneys were saying. So, I mean, we've seen what Thomas's wife were saying so yeah i mean we we've seen what thomas's wife was saying uh about the election so i mean seriously it's not a surprise it's just wild because like you know we're like looking at the shit like wow it's not a surprise and then suddenly like joe biden is like i got i'm giving a speech about threats to democracy. Yeah. Y'all. Right.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Where was the fucking bill? I mean, I knew there was a bill, but the Republicans completely voted it down. But like, there was a lot. You had about two fucking years. Yeah. To begin figuring shit out. But yeah, now we're just in this like really odd situation. Now we're just looking around and being like, does this phone count?
Starting point is 00:05:22 Oh, they're shutting down early voting sites where it leans more democratic inexplicably or whatever the fuck, whatever manner of fuckery is going on. Yeah. Yeah. Stay tuned. Yeah. Stay tuned. Hopefully it won't devolve into utter chaos. Seeming less and less likely.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Miss Argentina and Miss Puerto Rico revealed that they secretly got married to each other last week. So that's pretty cool. I didn't... Are they current Miss Argentina and Miss Puerto Rico? Let me just see. Miss Argentina 2020 and Miss Puerto Rico 2020. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Fabiola Valentin and Mariana Varela. Go for them. Yeah, that was great. And I do have to imagine they're going to in addition to enjoying marriage and being with uh the person they love they'll be enjoying selling their rights to the highest bidder because that's a an amazing story that i'm sure oh yeah the miss art yeah i mean like it's our even the headline miss argentina and miss puerto rico you're like okay what's the movie about what is this one and does it have to star george clooney and julia roberts somehow it will um we're not quite sure how we'll fit out we somehow they fucking pull it off but you know julia roberts did have her hospital bill paid by
Starting point is 00:06:45 coretta scott king and dr martin luther king so i think it's okay if she played miss puerto rico we're still figuring out the george clooney as miss argentina ankle but we're yeah we'll get back to figure it out uh perma crisis is trending as well as splooting um because these were words that got added to the collins dictionary this seems based on who's picking it up it seems like more of a uk story but permacrisis is i think pretty self-explanatory did you know splooting that's like when the dogs are like all floppy and shit when dogs like spread out all their limbs or any pet spreads out all their limbs on the floor as a as a means of cooling oneself.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Yeah, get your belly. Get your belly down. Yeah. I like a good sploot myself. Who came up with that word? Feels like a millennial word. Yeah, for sure. We did that.
Starting point is 00:07:37 You're welcome. And we now live in the perma-crisis. In the best way. Yeah. I mean, when you're living in the perma-crisis and nobody's willing to do anything about it, might as well invent fun words like splooting to what's that it's what the dog's doing warm bank is also a new word which is you know a place where you can't afford to heat your home oh damn that's grim that is grim like a cooling center like the like they set up
Starting point is 00:08:06 in la like in heat waves and shit for like they're like oh shit you don't have ac like come to this place that will at least the temperature will not kill you yeah a warm bank so like you got perma crisis and then words useful in a perma crisis yeah absolutely wait Wait, why is Kiev in there? I think it's the Ukrainian spelling of the city. Oh, I see. Has been added as opposed to the previous spelling. Wait, how was it spelled before? K-Y-I-V is the Ukrainian spelling of the city, and K-I-E-V is the Russian spelling.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Got it. Of the city of Kiev. Makes sense. Most Westerners kind of went from using the Russian version to using the Ukrainian version this year. Same way like the shorthand, like, you know, a lot of people in the West called it the Ukraine. Right. Yeah. Which comes from, yeah. Like, I was being like, wait, who are we learning that from?
Starting point is 00:09:04 Yeah. All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast,
Starting point is 00:09:25 Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration.
Starting point is 00:09:59 It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Prudente. And I'm Jamee Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions, like how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job?
Starting point is 00:10:32 Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote,
Starting point is 00:10:53 what is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career. Without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is Season 4 of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese.
Starting point is 00:11:29 I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them. Why is that? I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros,
Starting point is 00:11:40 Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained?
Starting point is 00:11:58 This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life. It's too late for that.
Starting point is 00:12:22 I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project. All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours. BPM 110. 120. She's terrified.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Should we wake her up? Absolutely not. What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this?
Starting point is 00:12:53 We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people. There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from blumhouse television iheart radio and realm listen to dream sequence on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts and we're back and litter box is trending. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Um, to follow along with Joe Rogan, this stupid ass fucking guy and this dumb fucking conspiracy bullshit about kids who just, again, more fucking panic over anyone who's not some cishet person. But yeah, Joe Rogan apparently had a moment of clarity on his show and was like, hey, that's not true, I guess, the whole litter box thing. He said, quote, I fed into that and it let me. I should probably clarify that a bit. I have a friend.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Here we go. And my friend's wife is a school teacher. And she told him that there was discussions in the school that a mother wanted to put a litter box in one of the bathrooms. And he told me this. And I talked about it on here with Tulsi Gabbard. And then people were saying, that's not true. It's an Internet rumor. So I contacted him again and said, tell me exactly what she said and contact her and find out. She no longer works for that school.
Starting point is 00:14:24 She works for another school she contacted the other school she didn't get a response i don't think they actually did it i think there was discussions about doing it because there was one particularly wacky mother but there is it doesn't seem that there's any proof that they put a litter box in there was his really meandering way of being like i I mean, it's not even, he wasn't even really like, I'm sorry. He was like, yo, this fucking guy's wife lied to me. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:14:54 I'm sure she didn't know that by telling, repeating a rumor she read on Facebook, it was going to like be repeated on one of the most influential media outlets in the country. Name them. You know, like name country. Name them, you know, like name them,
Starting point is 00:15:06 be like, yo, I honestly, I can't, I can't trust you as a source anymore. Cause I'm doing really serious business on the Joe Rogan experience every day. Right. Really serious stuff,
Starting point is 00:15:14 man. It's just like, everything's so made up. Like I, I don't even believe that there was a friend who told him this. He took this shit hook, line and sinker. Cause he's fucking in like,
Starting point is 00:15:23 he lives in a world where people are fucking weird man I got no time to understand anything what happened was she no longer works for that school Miles so like what do you it's what do you want me to do you shouldn't even work there anymore they won't verify
Starting point is 00:15:39 and then even at the end he's like so I mean it might have been like one wacky mother and it's like no man y' mean, it might have been like one wacky mother. And it's like, no, man, y'all made that whole thing up. It was made up on fucking Facebook. And you're still feeding it by even just being like, and it's probably no, it's no, it's not that it's probably anyone. It's bullshit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Just full stop. It's bullshit. And you should say, oh, what happened is this is a smear against people who are not like cishet Christians. And they like to play around with this idea that many people just believe that it's like, man, if you, whoa, it's a slippery slope from being, you know, embracing what your own identity is to fucking dressing up and like shitting in a sandbox. Stop it. Yeah. to fucking dressing up and shitting in a sandbox. Stop it! Recession is trending because it seems like the Fed's solution to inflation is to just keep raising interest rates in a way that punishes consumers,
Starting point is 00:16:40 even though more and more it seems clear. I'm even starting to see, we talked on last week's episode about how it seems like the mainstream media is still ignoring the fact that, okay, so inflation's way up, profits are equally way up, like they're both at record numbers
Starting point is 00:16:58 and those things seem like they're probably related to one another. I'm even starting to see headlines like that in the mainstream media where they're like, yeah, it really seems like there's something going on here with these record profits and record inflation
Starting point is 00:17:13 being the connection, but it's not breaking through enough for them to just try and focus on corporations, getting them under control. Instead, it's like, well, we got to cause an inflation. People have to feel pain because we can't make corporations feel pain.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Yeah, it just doesn't make sense. But yeah, there's going to be some pain out there. As you said, hopefully we'll have a soft landing, but it doesn't seem like it. And again, it's just, you're completely not looking at the source of like what is making the prices go up like at all just completely ignoring them i don't know maybe we can cool this thing down with more fucking with higher interest rates so yeah i don't know
Starting point is 00:17:59 like you're already seeing layoffs happen at companies and this is happening at a time when there's more people getting organized around labor and having a recession at a time like this i'm sure for the for the business owning class is a great time to get people to suddenly be like yay whoa you know what i actually don't need as much right as long as i can get my job because shit's so fucked up out here because i mean look at how long it took from 2008 for people to be like hold on they're fucking us you know and for the longest time i look at i even look at myself right 2008 being like hey can i get a job at a t-shirt store i just went to what the fuck and this like i can't really get into like a job that's actually giving me benefits and like a salary that i can live off of
Starting point is 00:18:44 and for the longest time i would take little jobs here and there, work at companies, didn't app fucking barely advocated for myself because I still lived with the fear of like 2008. Yeah. You know, and it takes a while to even like be like, fuck man, like I gotta just advocate for myself.
Starting point is 00:19:00 And I remember so much of my early, like so much of my twenties working was like with the stress of like dude you fucking lose a job fucking any fucking time because the economy could explode um and yeah i'm sure i'm sure they'd love to put that fear back into people's hearts yeah pain yeah you using pain to kind of keep keep people in line because it seems like they're not gonna they're not gonna do the the thing that causes pain to the corporations that's just that feels impossible at this current moment but i don't know we we've seen progress happen before when when things seem to bleak but yeah we definitely need to keep supporting unions, keep supporting anybody pushing back
Starting point is 00:19:46 on this central narrative. That it's like, well, it's just out of our hands. You know, it's actually you guys causing it because you're paying the prices for gasoline. Yeah. Rat verified is trending. This is something more... Oh, back to more that's fun
Starting point is 00:20:05 sorry talking about impending financial doom yeah rat verified man this is a great one so you know in response to all the blue check twitter blue pay for your verified bullshit
Starting point is 00:20:22 at tiny snack comics I guess I don't know that account but apparently came up with this this trend of like get hashtag rat verified just putting a rat next to your display like a rat emoji next to your name and all these people were like i'm rat verified i'm rat verified uh and again i think it's just people trying to find a moment of joy in the middle of a permacrisis. Yeah. And why not be rat verified, y'all? The digital equivalent of splooting to just cool your jets while the permacrisis continues to slowly boil.
Starting point is 00:20:59 I think I'm going to get rat verified. Yeah, the rat verification process is pretty straightforward. Yeah. It's free. It's fun. Yeah. Yeah. You just got to vibe with rats. Yeah, the rat verification process is pretty straightforward. Yeah, it's free. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, those are some of the things that are trending on this Wednesday, November 2nd. We are
Starting point is 00:21:15 back tomorrow with a whole last episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Get your flu shot.
