Starting point is 00:02:14 Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Wes Crabtrend's New Zeitmare. Woo! Who's that courtesy of? Rory thevener rory the script was that the the cryptkeeper vibes right there that was my uh david letterman uh early 90s oh oh yep yep yep yep um hey you're miles i'm jack here's what's trending uh ddt is trending uh one of those like early 20th century in america and you know continuing throughout the world as american corporations just like dumped it and used it uh all over the place uh toxins um somebody just found that there's like a trail of breadcrumbs all over the coast off of L.A. of just buried barrels of DDT at the bottom of the ocean.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Oh. And like people knew about this. Apparently, L.A. had one of the biggest DDT manufacturers. And just they were just dropping them in the ocean and people knew knew about it kind of but they hadn't like found them yet and so uh this dude who was like looking into the ecology of the bay coast area, um, decided to, to take a look and, and found them. And I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:48 It just, the fact that this was a known thing that a company did, like I grew up hearing stories about how, uh, other countries were corrupt and like would do shit like this. And it turns out there there this was happening with capitalism all the time it was just that the media was ignoring the shit out of it yeah of course because so yeah yeah it was just a time for you know especially coming out of that second world
Starting point is 00:04:17 war there was no better time to like solidify like the mental cotton balls for Americans. Be like, we did it, y'all. Number one, fucking ignore the bad shit we're doing here. Do you remember how we just atomic bombed people and beat the Nazis? Well, we did that. And now let's just thumb our noses at the rest of the country, even though we have creeping inequality and racism
Starting point is 00:04:40 here. But more on that. And even though Russia did that more than we did. All right. St. Patrick's Day. It's St patrick's day happy st patty's day uh a holiday mostly for irish dudes in the new york philly new jersey tri-state area um in chicago i guess uh my korean mother-in-law always hits me up with a happy St. Patrick's Day, which is so sweet. And also, it's still like a thing at my kid's school, like to the point that like they've been coming home talking about leprechauns and even talking about making traps for leprechauns. And I think that is a like school activity, like a sanctioned school activity huh um so anyway shout out to uh shout out these little kids you know just trapping out here uh-huh uh-huh leprechauns i mean the other thing that was trending was the old leprechaun uh alabama leprechaun video yeah
Starting point is 00:05:38 which is just classic internet classic internet material uh that like it was like people were just writing the laziest articles. They're like, of course, no same... We have to talk about this video. I'm like, is there anything more? Or you're just saying that this exists. But who all seen the Leprechaun? Let me hear you say yeah. Let's talk NBA news.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Up first, just sad news. Sean Bradley, the 7'6 center, former second pick in the NBA draft. He was drafted by the Sixers, played for a bunch of teams. He apparently got in a bike accident on January 20th and has been paralyzed since then. So prayers up for big Sean bradley um it's horrible uh wear your helmets and yeah don't i don't know it was a car apparently came up behind him and hit him um so yikes yeah watch
Starting point is 00:06:37 out for cyclists when you're driving um especially la man people don't know how to fucking share fucking anything let alone the road no la doesn't have the worst drivers but there are some like some of the biggest who's worse who's worse that's a good question because like i've been to philly i've been to new york i've seen like aggro atlantic or driving not the most aggressive yeah they're they're like yeah not the most aggressive but at least they're like i'm like oh shit but i'm like what they're doing yeah in a way you know what i mean like when they hit that pittsburgh left out of out the gates you're like they know what they're doing i see this shit here people look like they don't know what i mean it's and the ram and look the trope is so true the second fucking one drop of rain comes out the sky like traffic slows by like 70 percent yeah for sure but whatever you know yeah that that's true i've
Starting point is 00:07:31 probably been here for too long uh in saying that it's not the worst drivers uh or i mean any city let us know if you think i personally maybe it's like a self everyone's like no new york has the worst drivers and people are like no philly does i don know. I feel like there's a lot of- Boston has the most aggressive drivers I've ever seen in my life, besides New York City, because everybody- Oh, New York is the next level. New York is boss level of like, I make up road laws because I know how to drive well enough kind of vibes. And man, there were so many times you get in those town car cabs that aren't like cabs
Starting point is 00:08:02 or whatever, but you hop in or whatever, and they're busting maneuvers to get you where you gotta go. And you're like, yo, honestly, I'm not gonna, I appreciate the hustle. And then they do, uh,
Starting point is 00:08:11 their job and cover up all the accidents that must happen, uh, in cabs. So the, the tourism industry stays popping. Uh, let's talk, uh,
Starting point is 00:08:22 some other NBA news. Damian Lillard is now uh getting tossed into the conversation around mvp uh after i mean he's just having a wild season uh but he he he put up 50 um that's yeah i mean yeah just watch a highlight reel of his like game winning shots over the last uh just from this season and it's bonkers uh yeah but um utah jazz it's also like he's what six one six he's six one six two i think yeah yeah he's not he's he's one of those on he's like the most unfortunate height for a basketball player which is six two because from there you have to be exponentially better than everyone because you're not just like a gigantor who can move right like i have to have the most complete
Starting point is 00:09:17 game at six feet two he's so good um the utah jazz uh there's a there's an article going around just asking like if this was literally any other team you would be saying they are the favorites to win the championship uh they have you know the highest point differential like by far the best record at this point um nobody's really figured them out uh yeah i don't know know. I still, I don't know. They remind me of the Bucs from last year where the Bucs also had the highest point differential. A lot of it was based around three-point shooting and three-point defense,
Starting point is 00:09:56 and it didn't translate. So we shall see. I wonder what it is. A lot goes back to that whole thing lebron said is we just never we don't have an idea of the utah jazz is like a cool team right so since they're never they have to first get over the idea that they could even be cool right it's like then they how they gonna win if they're not even cool but they're fucking like but the numbers don't lie You're like, this is a force. Personally,
Starting point is 00:10:27 I hate to see it. Nobody outside of the state of Utah doesn't hate to see it. Or famously, Super Producer and his dad is just a lifelong jazz fan. I get it. That's where you first pulled up to the US and so you have your love
Starting point is 00:10:43 with the Utah jazz, but honestly, I'm off that. I think the other thing, too, is Utah jazz is the other thing. It's just I don't the idea of it. If they were called like anything else except for jazz. Utah temples. Utah. Yeah. Utah owls.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Fuck it. Yeah. Like whatever. But like jazz. No, don't don't like the last thing i think of are that many people of color living in utah unless they're playing for the jazz right although i know there are people of color utah the uh yeah they're just not not a what could else they be the mount the peaks the snow snowmen i mean snow fighters any nba any team name sounds fake until it becomes an
Starting point is 00:11:28 official team name like when the toronto raptors i was like get the fuck out of here yeah and the grizzlies i remember that expansion like the denver nuggets like what are you talking about because of gold yeah like it Heat? That concept of Heat? Yeah. So fake sounding. And then once they're official, you're like, well, I guess that's it. I rock with the Heat. LeBron was also trending yesterday because he is part of an ownership team of the Boston Red Sox.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Not Celtics. That would be weird. He and his business partner, is it Mav Carter? Yeah, it's him and Mav. Yeah, who are now part owners of the Red Sox, even though he is a lifelong Yankees fan. But if his career... You gotta get it somewhere.
Starting point is 00:12:21 If his career has taught us anything, it's that you don't have to have team loyalty uh well not when you're about the shmoney dance yeah yeah that's what he's doing and now because he's part of fsg fenway sports group you know that tech he's also i think he already had he was a part owner of liverpool oh that's right that's right. I actually didn't know that. I'm just pretending I did. Billie Eilish is trending because of her undeserved Grammy. No, sorry. It's because she is blonde.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Ha! I mean, get out of here with that. I don't know why this is. She's a natural blonde, right? That's like how Lord god designed her from heaven right uh but i liked the the green hair like my green roots are growing in vibe she had right yeah that is what like and also it's anybody who has like really dark hair whoever like tried to dye their hair uh knows that it's hard to pull off like such uh contrast like she has uh so it makes sense that she's blonde i'll just say uh
Starting point is 00:13:34 i mean billy you know just keep keep doing you keep on keeping on um billy eyelash is that something I don't know The Onion is trending because they are just you know having a day first of all anytime there's a mass shooting they the headline no way to prevent this says only nation
Starting point is 00:14:01 where this regularly happens gets circulated updated with whatever the latest uh mass shooting story is um and then in this case uh they are also they're also just killing it on headlines about this uh the police response to this atlanta mass murder yeah uh the another headline atlanta police rule out mass shooting as cause of death after suspect says he didn't shoot anyone oh uh based on his saying that it wasn't a hate crime and then being like oh okay you guys come on what's with this hate crime stuff wait so why do we even pick this guy up yeah but my favorite uh is this headline sympathetic police know what it's
Starting point is 00:14:46 like to have a bad day and kill eight people um because they yeah the guy had a bad day um yeah we'll talk uh we'll talk plenty more on that on tomorrow's episode but yeah i mean that shit is just you know these are the the undulations of hatred that have become commonplace in this country and it's yep i'm you know i i don't know like on one level i was like i don't know if i'll get used to it can i get is it possible but you can never get used to something like this uh especially when it's you know it's happening in your own community yeah you were saying that like you specifically had the thought that like this was going to happen yeah i mean you like days ago yeah i've just you you worry you know you you look at news stories and i'm like
Starting point is 00:15:39 oh yeah that could be my mom that could be my you know family friend it could be anybody and uh just knowing how again the the sort of pattern that follows in this country of like you know conservatives begin othering some group and then it'll end in some kind of shooting at some point at any point uh and then i was like just being at the japanese market i was like yeah i i honestly like i was just like this is this is the place where people with an agenda would come to do harm to us. Or anywhere that's, for them, a, quote, target-rich environment. But again, this is nothing new to a lot of people in this country. There's so many communities that experience this exact same fear, no matter what. Yeah, it's getting old.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Yep. no matter what and it's yeah it's getting old yep and then finally uh rudy it turns out uh was throughout the trump campaign an unwitting participant in a russian misinformation campaign oh golly you serious this is one of those stories where I'm like, we didn't have confirmation on that before? Okay, so now we have actual documentation? Right, now that there's this analysis, they're like, yeah, I mean, the guy, because remember, he kept being like,
Starting point is 00:16:56 I'm going to Ukraine to figure out what happened with Hunter Biden's laptop. And he was just getting fed bullshit by this guy who's like, LinkedIn has even connections to the kgb it was just like yo like what yeah of course um it is what it's so that's yeah just like one of those things you just look at and you're like yeah this is nothing about this you're like yeah this is nothing about this um all right those are some of the things that are trending today uh we are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show until then be kind
Starting point is 00:17:34 to each other be kind to yourselves don't do nothing about white supremacy and we'll talk to y'all tomorrow bye k hasn't heard from her sister in seven years i have a proposal for you come up Bye. history repeating itself.
