Dear honies, this is goodbye. By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead. Next stop, Wonderland. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind?

Episode 5 of the day of the day. This is a podcast, a podcast where we take a deep dive into America's shared consciousness through the day's news. Also, the news is heavy. Maybe you want to talk about some spooky shit.
Starting point is 00:04:05 We'll check in Mondays. Every Monday during this October, it's spooky season. icons of the spooky season. So we've done Dracula. We've done Hannibal Lecter. We've got some other freaky stuff coming down the pipe. You know, it's going to be good.
Starting point is 00:04:22 It's going to be good. Everything's weird. I guess I can say the next. Next one's going to be fucking about ghosts. All right. Just straight up ghosts. With Jack Wagner of Otherworld podcast. So if you're a fan of that show, definitely tune in for that one.
Starting point is 00:04:34 That's every Monday. You'll know it's different because the logo is different. The title says icons. Okay. Meanwhile here, it is Friday the 16th of October, uh, 2026, which is global cat day, Dictionary Day, World Food Day, National Lecure Day, World allergy awareness day and national mammography day, because it is breast cancer awareness month. It also was National Bosses Day, but Jack, we kicked Jack out of here. That's right. We say, get on, bro, and let us do our own thing. When you say National Lecure Day, do you mean the.
Starting point is 00:05:09 liqueur, like that's American National Lecure Day? Because we're not a lecure. Oh, like, national liqueurs? No, no, no. I think it's just like, it's, I'm sure it's like Diageos. Like, let's celebrate those other weird bottles you guys buy once every four years. The dusty ones on the bottom shelf.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Yes, for your quontros, your grand marnees. Yeah. And the like. Both good on chocolate ice cream. Yeah. Or, um, what's the, what's the hazelnut one? Uh, uh, frangelico. Frangelico. Yeah. Frangelico, bro.
Starting point is 00:05:41 I like an orange one. I like the blue curacao, which is weirdly orange flavored. When you put it on chocolate ice cream, it's a nice spooky dark gray. Wait, blue curacao turns color? No. Blue carousel is orange flavored. Oh, oh, oh, oh. When you pour it on like a chocolate ice cream, it just turns like it looks disgusting gray
Starting point is 00:06:02 because it's got blue on brown. Not a great color coloring in it. Yeah. But it creates a nice chocolate orange flavor. Oh, that's a spooky season tip. I can make a bowl of sludge. I hate chocolate. I hate chocolate citrus, though.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Damn. You do? I hate that shit. You're the least. That's, it goes, because I have such a childish palette when it comes to sweets. Like, you need a chocolate orange, man. I'm fine with cream. Yeah, the cherry's chocolate orange.
Starting point is 00:06:29 No, that's the one that has, like, the individual slices and shit that's wrapped up. No. No. Fuck all. It looks like an orange, though. No, it's like eat vegetables and shit. Well, then don't eat. Don't eat my delicious holiday treat.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Yeah, that's my favorite Christmas gift to get. Well, I'm glad that I am joined by two people who are much classier. And then I, meanwhile, my name is Miles Gray, the Shogun Winogun, the Lord of Lancashem, aka the spookiest man in North Hollywood. I am in North Hollywood right now visiting my mother's house because I had, I'm fumigating. I had to fumigate where I'm at. The termites have taken over. So I'm on the road, on location, in the valley.
Starting point is 00:07:07 So shout out the 818. I'm thrilled to be joined by my guest co-host today One of the one of the homies of the show, okay? A day one of the one of the fucking best podcast hosts out there A fantastic writer and also Like media mogul digitally in New York okay Back in the day This is now too far
Starting point is 00:07:26 Well I have to say it all I don't like this He can look he can cook you up a delicious picagna He can also has a mean left hook Please welcome to the microphone Andrew Tee Right hook I'm left-handed.
Starting point is 00:07:40 I throw right hooks. Oh, you're south-paw. I'm a south-paw. I'm a slippery. Also, I got quite a bad knee injury, so I'm not boxing anyone. Maybe for the rest of my life. Wait, you have a bad injury?
Starting point is 00:07:49 Do you get a new bad injury? No, no. Oh, it's the old one. The old one, uh... I'm like, a new bad injury? No, the old one's just permanent. The OG bad injury. Yeah, yep, yep, yep, yep, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:00 I hear that. It's okay. It's probably fine if I don't box anymore. What is it? Do you need, like, your ACL replace or some shit? No, I just. got like no cartilage in my knees. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:11 My orthopedic surgeon, I don't know if he was joking. I don't know if this is an orthopedic surgeon bit, but when I went in for my first consult, he was like, oh, no, nurse, we got the wrong x-rays. These are the knees of like a 70-year-old man with debilitating arthritis.
Starting point is 00:08:31 That's fucked up. He didn't say it in that way, but it had to be a bit, Because he was just like, oh, oh, well, quite a lot going on in there then. They think they're comedians, you know? Yeah. And also, like, for something that's, like, as, you know, important to someone as their mobility, and you're like, damn. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:52 I said, don't show me the cooked knee x-ray. Show me Andrew T's knee x-ray. Please. Anyway, I hope you were able to. I had a family member. He moved, like, some kind of, like, quad meat, like meat from. I got some options that I think are mostly not covered in the United States because they involve stem cells. And, of course, those are babies.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Yeah, yeah, yeah. This happened in Japan. Yeah, that used to be a big deal for Republicans, but now they love it. Now they love them. Now they love them for injecting. Well, anyway, here we are, Andrew. We are joined today by a fantastic podcast host, podcast producer, beauty icon, skin tip giver. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:09:36 I had to look. I'm hydrating more. Off the strength of our guest comments. I think you might know her from her iconic podcast, beauty translated, or her producing work on shows like X-ray vision with Jason Concepcion or look back at it with Alex English and Sam Jay. But to us, she is the one and only Carmen Laurent. Thank you guys so much. I'm so happy to be here. And I hope you're ready for this trainings just Friday.
Starting point is 00:10:05 We are. We are. Oh, my God. Yes, I voted today. Oh, you voted today? Oh, yeah. Was it, was it an easy affair? Because we're going to get into some, there is some fuckery elsewhere in the country already. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:19 But it was an easy affair. You're in Georgia? No, you're in California? Yeah, I'm in Atlanta. Yeah, you're in Atlanta, yeah. I'm in a pretty white area. So the voting was pretty easy, pretty easy. Right, right, right.
Starting point is 00:10:33 But they love to make voting. extremely difficult especially. Yeah, I'm sure on the day. That's when you're going to see the most chaos. Right now, we're just kind of getting sprinklings, a little fuckery. What's also, may I ask, do you know what your Halloween costume is going to be? You know, I've had a long and treacherous year. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:57 I hadn't even thought about it. But I am thinking about what I'm going to dress my dogs as, and I do want to do my bigger golden doodle as. like a pumpkin. And I think I'm going to have his, yeah, you know, you know, classic. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Like, why? You're going to be like, I think my puppy will be Van Gogh this year. Yeah, I like pumpkin. Oh, well, he's my pumpkin, you know. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because he needs pumpkin powder
Starting point is 00:11:28 in his food because he... Oh, that's just a dog thing. Yeah, yeah, the fiber. And so I call him my little pumpkin. and so he's going to get, he's going to dress those pumpkin. And then his brother is like evil, so he's going to be the devil. And we're going to just a devil and a pumpkin. I feel like that's just a classic 90s Halloween.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Definitely. Yeah, those are definitely background costumes in a house party scene from like a high school party movie. From like Focus or something. Yeah, exactly. Unlicensed free, just you costumes you don't need to clear with anyone. They're just ideas, their concept. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Lovable. Lovable. I'm going to hold up a thing that I got, which is I impulse bought a crazy Lego, which is a truck with a gigantic, like three times the size of a man, pumpkin, a jack-o-lantern. He looks like he...
Starting point is 00:12:20 Or like the busted version of like Cinderella's like chariot. Yeah. It's like Cinderella's tow truck. Like the hoopty version. Yeah, yeah. The toad version. The repoed. Cinderella forgot to make her pay that.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Can you imagine she goes outside There's a boot on her fucking carriage? She's trying to get out of here. You left your shoe. That's my phone. That's my kind of Cinderella story. You also forgot to pay. Why you got a boot on a carriage?
Starting point is 00:12:47 Where's the horse is going to do? Don't worry about it. Can you cover this boot for me? Don't worry. My driver must have not paid the ticket. You're talking about the rat in the front? Okay. You know, well, you have a good night, Miss Lady.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Whatever your name was. That's a good. adaptation. Think about it. Yeah, 100. Halloween, Cinderella. Or just like, just everything's going wrong. Yeah. Really, really complicated.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Cinderella's having a day. Yeah, we get it. Well, we're going to talk about many, many things, including your over-rate, underrated, and search history. But first, we've got to tell people what we were going to be talking about. Just a quick check-in, the state of play. A couple news things. Things about turnout in Ohio.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Ballots not going out in Texas. Trump polling being low. none of it's a surprise. Then we're going to talk about a school play that was canceled in Texas because drag or because stupid SB12. We will talk about that. Then we're going to talk about the state of Halloween horror nights. Apparently, if you're trying to be a scarecter or scare actor, I always heard it as
Starting point is 00:13:56 scarecter, like a scary character, but a scare actor at this event, it sounds like hell on earth. where just a bunch of drunk people fucking assaulting you. And then we will talk about the new movie Whale Fall that's coming out. It's coming out this weekend.
Starting point is 00:14:13 I'm... I love how fucking stupid like the concept is. Like, dude, what if a fucking scuba diver got swallowed by a whale and how to get out? The trailer? Yeah, it is terrifying.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Terrifying. 100%. But then we'll have to, like, we'll have to ask the age-old question is this even fucking possible and also why does this have to do with the Bible no and yes are the answers to those
Starting point is 00:14:39 questions but we'll dive into why but first Carmen Laurent I'd like to ask you what is something from your search history that is revealing about who you are well the last time I was on here I got roasted for like talking about clothes so I'm not going to talk about that again but I
Starting point is 00:14:54 at the top near the top was Kelly Loeffler's height and I was because I was There's that video. It's not a, like, new video of her. It's a video from like a month or so ago of her walking down the hallway, talking to camera. And it's like the first day that she's, um, had limbs apparently. Yeah. Newborn giraffe. I think there's a lot of people were talking about. It's like, looking real wobbly on stills. And, um, I was just really curious how tall she was. And surprisingly not as tall as I thought she would be based on the video. She's 511. I'm curious.
Starting point is 00:15:33 Yeah, yeah. I knew she was taller, but... Yeah, and photos. Yeah, that video made it felt like 6.3 or something. Correct. And I think she's mostly neck and her... So truly a giraffe. Her height.
Starting point is 00:15:46 You know, truly a giraffe. But yeah, I was just curious to know what her actual height is. She's only two... That makes her only two inches taller than me. And, yeah, I just... That's a spooky costume, I think, this year, too. You just wear a pants suit, a big, blonde, wig and just kind of look disoriented.
Starting point is 00:16:03 It's not just a pantsuit. You know, it's this very, like, Republican type of styling that is very unaware of proportions and very unaware of just how things fit on the body. And her proportions are all off. You know, she, but she doesn't have any gay friends because who the fuck? Who's making sure she's looking ripe, looking tight before you go out there walking with an empty binder? through a hallway.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Beautiful. The overall Republican style choice does seem to be very off the rack. It's very Timo. It's very like Timo Chanel, Timu, like, Dior, like,
Starting point is 00:16:46 just very kind of like, everything that they claim to be against. Sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's interesting. There are a few accounts that are actually like clock in all the outfits that they wear,
Starting point is 00:16:58 like down to the excessive. I'm more surprised how often it's just fast fashion. And that's, again, inspired by something from Europe. Carmen, what's something you think is underrated? Oh, gosh. This is where I want to get kind of trinelicious with you, if you'll let me. But always having a thing that you've got to go and do. And this is something that I think everybody should have in their life.
Starting point is 00:17:26 But I had a vaginoplasties. four months ago. I got the Amelia Perez special. I got the penis to vagina, combo. No, not really, but it's not a combo. It's not a combo. It's not a combo deal.
Starting point is 00:17:44 And as part of that, I have to, like, medically, for the next year, I have to go and dilate my vagina. Wow. And at first...
Starting point is 00:17:57 That's something you've got to do. It's, I mean, you just got to, fucking do it or that shit will close up. And that is only in like the first year of the recovery. At first it was four times a day. Now I'm doing it three times a day. Eventually it'll be two times a day. Eventually it'll be one time a day. But I love right now, I'm at a point where I'm back at work. And I love just being like, sorry. I like, I got to go like lay down. I got to go maintain. Yeah. I got to go maintain. You know, whatever. And I think everybody should just have a thing that they got to go and do no matter what.
Starting point is 00:18:29 every day. It's really nice. Yeah, outside of like our usual, like, maybe brushing our teeth and things like that. It's like, you know, I just got to lay down for like 30 minutes to an hour. Yeah. You know, is that what's smoking used to be for people. It is. Right. And I do both. But, you know, smoke and isolate. Yeah, yeah. Do it all. Do it all. Yeah. Well, congratulations. That's that's such a major milestone. And I'm very happy for you. And I hope that you're, diolate, nobody interrupts your dialation. No, because I'm on, do not disturb. I got my chill playlist on, I'm in the zone.
Starting point is 00:19:08 I'm in, like, a meditative state. And like I said, at first, it was like a chore. It was laborious. It was a lot. And transphobic people love to be like, oh, it's this like numb, like, a gash that you have to dilate every day for the rest of your life, which is just not true. It's just like for the earlier recovery stages. And it's certainly not numb.
Starting point is 00:19:29 I'll tell you that. Right. And it's like, it's just nice to, to just have an excuse. Right. Always. Like producer Catherine's in the chat, it's like, yeah, it's like, it's a moment to meditate too. Yeah. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:19:46 And I think that's another thing. People don't, I was talking about this at the beginning of the week that it's like going from unhappy to happy is very difficult. Going from unhappy to tranquil or peaceful as much. easier. And if you're in that space, meditation is such a perfect way to at least get to that next step to give yourself a platform to maybe reach for something a little bit better. So yeah, love a bit of meditation. Everybody get into your daily meditation. Yeah. Fire up. You need some. Open up your pelvic floor. Open it up. Exactly. Do what you got to do. Open up your
Starting point is 00:20:23 pelvic floor, open up your third eye, we're going to do it all. Yeah, metaphorically, literally, do it all. Carmen, what's something you think is overrated? I was like, damn it, I have to come up with this shit every time I come on this show. But no, then I finally thought of something because every time I'm fucking open Instagram now, and this is another part of my meditation that I've been doing, and really just kind of like part of me having this thing that I always got to go and do and meditate is like, I'm no longer on my phone and on Instagram as much.
Starting point is 00:20:53 because I need to relax my pelvic floor. And unfortunately, Instagram causes me to have a tight pelvic floor. And everything on the internet now, I don't know if anyone can agree with this, it's like I feel like a part of dead internet theory, whatever you want to call it. But I feel like everything has moved towards
Starting point is 00:21:11 like some type of engagement bait of some kind. And I'm just like so, I feel like I'm, I've had my chakras opened. And I'm like, I just am so, like, bored with it now. You're bored. And also, like, I think on so many levels,
Starting point is 00:21:31 corporations are subjecting us to manners of living that we are just not wired for. So the thing became like, well, ad-based, click-based, like, you know, articles is the way to go. Our brains don't work like that, but they do know our brains are curious. So they're like, well, what if we just fucking keep, make, keep it, you know, outrageous
Starting point is 00:21:49 or something to keep clicking, keep clicking, that you fucking burn. out and like yeah i'm i'm glad you found a play you found it like the moment you go i actually can't do this i battle with it regularly i think like the biggest thing is like now i like instagram is mostly on my computer i don't do that shit on my phone i try not to also i've also gotten like like phone wrist recently or like yeah i was realizing i had like this ulnar nerve pain that i thought was from playing video games and like gripping a controller but it's really i'm realizing it's from holding a fucking heavy-ass stupid smartphone.
Starting point is 00:22:24 And now I'm like, bro, I need a fucking, like, razor. Like, my body, like, I'm realizing my body's not even built for this shit. What do they call it? Like, the simple phone or, like, the dumb phone? Yeah, they have all those. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And I'm sure, like, part of me, like, I'm like, can I just find an old,
Starting point is 00:22:40 something on the GSM network? Like a tri-band phone that they used to have, but probably not. And I even think of that, too, with, like, the click-based stuff with GTA-6 coming out. Oh, my God. I love video games, but I remember 13 years ago when GTA 5 came out, there wasn't a fucking article every eight hours about like, this new thing just leaked, this other thing just leaked. Oh, fans are curious about this thing and it leaked. And I think so many things that we're interested in are sort of presented in this like drip by drip way that just a fucking just burns you out. It truly does.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Yeah. I can't believe the number of people I know who I think are otherwise intelligent people who take the, of. bait too, the repost bait, especially. We're just like, oh, someone says something really dumb and you just are like dunk on it with a retweet or whatever. And it's like,
Starting point is 00:23:34 why are you doing this? How are you so easily manipulated? I think, yeah, people, because I think sometimes people mistake like the engagement for like you're participating or some shit when some things are just like, no, this is just this is hot air.
Starting point is 00:23:50 And that's what a lot of times. what the creators want because they want. Because what I've started to realize is when I'm interacting on social media, because I will, I used to fall into that trap of like wanting to leave a comment or whatever. And now I'm realizing, no, that like literally just generates more income for like a lot of these people.
Starting point is 00:24:13 Sure. But yeah. Yeah, it's so wild. Just block them. Go do my strategy, which is just block anyone. Lock. Did you see that story about how, like, when the Ukrainians hit a Russian data center,
Starting point is 00:24:26 like a bunch of bot traffic went down? And I fully believe that because I do believe that in, like, comment sections, a lot of times you're mostly probably just screaming at bots, you know? Yeah, well, and also comment sections are just, like, at this point, it's like, assess pool. Do not need. Do not need. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Yeah, exactly. All right. I want to say for the record, I didn't follow up on this. I did see someone saying the bot thing was not true. It was, like, the people were claiming that there were no bots at all. And I think that's the thing that was alive. I think it was more just like, measurably this activity was lower because of like that facility. Yeah, I saw the headline too.
Starting point is 00:25:04 It's like, for a day, there were no bots. And it's like, well, no, that's not. There was definitely other countries with bots. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was more just like a section of the, a section of the bot army went down for a moment. You can just like be like me and just be above it all, you know, just exist in like a different. ethereal plane of knowingness. Yes, exactly.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Yeah. Exactly. I'm just kidding. I don't meditate for shit. You don't. Have you ever meditated? No, I do like app meditation, which feels like training wheelsy, but.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Right. It's got to be better than nothing. It tells better than nothing, but I can also tell us not that good. Yeah, sure, sure. Well, look, you need some good, you need some good guided meditations. People would look, you got to find. I couldn't tell you what's good or bad. Well, you should come to my,
Starting point is 00:25:55 you should come to my temple that I run out of my mother's garage. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's free spaghetti. I got cash. Free spaghetti, but we don't have utensils, so I'm hoping they're just pulling it out the bucket with your hand.
Starting point is 00:26:06 Okay? But everybody has to wash their hands before they pull the free spaghetti out the bucket. Everybody knows that Miles is Temple. That's the one of the old. Oh, and the bucket is just a drawer drawer inside of the fridge. That's just full of spaghetti.

I just want to check in with the midterms because we're about four, three, two-ish weeks out. What, four week, three weeks out. Yeah. First of all, just quick stuff, just to get people up on things. Ohio was reporting, like, in their early in-person voting numbers, has drawn nearly four times as many voters as it did at the same point in the Joe Byron midterms.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Right. So, okay, people are out there. They realize there's a, there's a Senate race. The Senate math definitely matters in that state. In Texas, though, Texas somehow, they had a little bit of a, quote, glitch that resulted in a failure to send out 600,000 ballots. This is from the Guardian, quote, Texas election officials are struggling to process a massive backlog of nearly 600,000 voter registration applications after a major state computer system failure, just days before early voting is set to open on Monday. The disruption has raised serious concerns about the state's voter registration system with voting rights organizations accusing Texas officials of failing to ensure that eligible voters could properly register.
Starting point is 00:32:42 The problem originated from a software error involving the Texas Department of Safety's, according to a lawsuit that was filed last week. The glitch affected a website used for driver's license applications that was also designed to allow Texans to register to vote. Guess what happened? The lawsuit alleges between October. October 2025 and February 26, residents who selected yes when asked whether they wanted to register to vote were given receipts confirming their selections. However, their registration information was never actually recorded. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:18 So it was just a box that did nothing, basically. Yeah. Yeah, it was a computer glitch. You know, I don't know. It's a very convenient computer glitch when you have another, like, the most money being poured into a Senate race. in this Paxton, Tala Rico Senate race. And now, you go, oh, that computer glitch. And like 600,000 people aren't going to get their ballots.
Starting point is 00:33:40 Yeah. Or going to have to really go the extra mile to make sure they are registered. So whether they're voting in person or not, that's just another fucking hoop to jump through. So if you live in Texas, you may need to check in on that if you're interested in voting. You know, that might be a thing worth looking to. I just voted in Georgia. It was easy. Wait, did I mention that top?
Starting point is 00:34:00 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you got the sticker mentioning twice? Do they have a good sticker? Well, yeah, I vote it twice. Oh, yeah, we do. We have the peach, which I love. Oh, that's nice. Ours are fucking so busted and normal.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Do you guys want? We can fill out mine on air right now. Oh, yeah, yeah. I got mine right here at the top. Ours straight down. Yeah, our down the bottom. I did a little canvassing for old Nithia ramen. Their other candidates are available.
Starting point is 00:34:30 but in Los Angeles. And I took to talk to a, I had a lengthy conversation with a Spencer Pratt supporter. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. And lunatic. What part of town were you?
Starting point is 00:34:43 It was wild. Echo Park. Oh, wow. It was a chiropractor. Oh, wow. A chiropractor. Yeah. Ten out of ten doctors who go,
Starting point is 00:34:54 I'm a doctor and they go, you a chiropractor, bro. Yeah. He was, he struck me as like a, by way of RFK like crank. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:35:07 How old was he? Old white guy. I mean, there's so many levels. 70s? Moderate, old. How red and how red in the face was he? Yeah. He was, it was so hot out.
Starting point is 00:35:24 You know, I don't know if he got more red in the face. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What did he say? Like, when he said, because I mean, I remember when you, Like when, you know, I was canvassing a lot, you'd go to the, you'd go to a door of someone who clearly wasn't with what you were talking about. Yeah. Yeah. Was he sarcastic?
Starting point is 00:35:40 Or would he go, just want to let you know, I'll never vote for Nithia. And then he went into a monologue. What kind of interaction was it? He started with like, well, because I think it was some version of like, hey, you know, do you know about Nithia ramen? And it was like, I know she stole the election from Spencer Pratt. Oh, thank. Oh, so he's real, the info. It was rough.
Starting point is 00:36:01 Yeah. That part was really rough. And then, listen, shout out to everyone volunteering for any, honestly, any political campaign, the more the better, even if, well, no one's actually volunteering
Starting point is 00:36:12 for any of these horrible folks. However, if it's for Hakeem Jeffries. The person with me was a very nice guy who I may, I would maybe also categorized in somewhat of the low info sort of guy. Sure, sure.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Because he was like, let's talk to him. Let's get into it. And I was just like, it was one of those things, I was like, I don't know, man. I'm just positive that this is not going to be a good use of our time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like, we could be knocking on doors and actually converting people that might be on the fence rather than a guy who's like, I subscribe to Spencer's YouTube channel.
Starting point is 00:36:45 It was, that part was rough. Again, everyone's, not everyone, one of the parties in the story is not very nice, but the other person. Yeah. Well, and that's all part of your, you know, people's political evolution. get out there or not. Learn what you like, learn what you don't like, and then you figure it out. Direction, you know,
Starting point is 00:37:04 things are moving in directions, I guess. But this was the wildest conversation I've had in Los Angeles, I will say. Wow. Which is, that speaks a little bit to my bubble, I suppose. Yeah. I remember.
Starting point is 00:37:15 I was like, this shit is crazy. When I was at, like actually on a different planet. When I was at Condé Nast, I went to, like, one of the early Trump rallies in Orange County in 2016. And, no, 2015. And that's when I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:33 You're talking like, it's the 1950s. And yeah, you're really, and at the time I was naive enough to be like, he's got too many negatives against him for him to win a national election. I was very much. You know what? I was in my blue-blay.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Yeah, well, I was producing, like, content and stuff. And I wanted to go because, like, we should go, like, we need to put cameras, like, we need to put microphones in people's faces. I would be curious, yeah. Anyway, pretty freaky shit. All right.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Yeah. So also, I just want to point out on the thing or on the thing, when we're talking about like the turnout and things like that, you know, it's quadruple what Joe Biden, what the turnout was for Joe Biden in 2022. He obviously, still in a midterm. Yeah, still in a midterm. Still in a midterm, which is low. Lower obviously. That's always low. But this was also a midterms where people were very much talking about inflation and Joe Biden's role in it, even though it's his inability to come.
Starting point is 00:38:29 come back corporate greed. But yeah, we'll call it that. Yeah. And at the time, I just want to point at some polling that was happening at the time, Biden had about 29% approval in those midterms on the topic of inflation. Trump is currently at 22% approval. He's even lower than Joe Byron was when he, when, you know, he lost the house. So look, you know, I think we're talking about, this is the 7% of humanity that's like, I fucking love Donald Trump. 7%.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Like a third of those people are like, the inflation thing that was kind of bad. Yeah, it's fucking, I mean, because it's hard to ignore when you, because you can't, you can't look at your bank account and pretend the numbers you're seeing aren't the numbers that you're fucking seeing. And I think that's where the rubber meets the road. Yeah, and also like there was another poll that came out that was saying that, uh,
Starting point is 00:39:21 like three and 10 voters who are like voting. against Republicans want total upheaval of our governance system. Like, that's like, that's a new bracket of people that are so outraged over the status quo that they're like, no, I'm not, I want some change. Yes, I want total upheaval. Yeah. Yeah. And those numbers are only going to grow as long as you have, you know, the politicians in office that will just hide behind terms like inflation.
Starting point is 00:39:47 Because I think that's a thing. People would rather see a Joe Biden at that time be like, no, this is fucking corporate greed, man. Like, we got to fucking do something about it. Like, we got to stop calling this inflation. If he was even out there articulating something like that, that probably could have helped. But again, he don't just have to be for political figures. Yes. Certainly.
Starting point is 00:40:06 Certainly not. That's me quoting alternate universe Joe Biden. Yeah, yeah, exactly. The one's actually. He's like, they don't want to find out. You know what I mean? They don't want to find out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:18 So let's move on to the state of Texas. I guess stay in the state of Texas. because we were just talking about their ballot registration system. But Texas's SB 12, Senate Bill 12, is one of those laws that was passed last year. That is like the Florida, don't say gay bill. It's a bill disguised as a way for parents to be in control about what their children are learning in our public schools. When really, it's just to completely censor subjects like DEI, racial equity, and anything related to like sexuality or gender identity, LGBTQ plus topics, anything like that. It's like don't bring it into the, don't even bring it into the consciousness of these kids.
Starting point is 00:40:56 The bill, obviously just another step towards the Project 2025 fascistic takeover of education to, like, create mindless students who will be taught that. There are only two genders, Coke or Pepsi. And this has nothing to do with parental rights. The law, again, it's so far reaching in sort of, it's like nebulous definitions to just sort of like criminalize anything of like that's, outside of like cis het culture. Right. That it's ended the high school production of Little Shop of Horrors because a girl was cast as the male lead as Seymour.
Starting point is 00:41:34 Yeah. They first tried to recast her. Which, by the way, Seymour not exactly like peak masculinity or anything like that, you know. And also his, I mean, sorry to bet in here about, this, but like throughout the history of theater. Yeah. Like, women have played, like, Peter Pan,
Starting point is 00:42:01 but most of all men have played women in theater. That's where drag even... Yeah, think about Shakespeare. Like, women weren't on stage. The term drag dressed as girls comes from from Shakespeare Theater. And so it's like... But these people don't care about that, obviously. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:42:19 This is merely because they're like, girl dressed as not girl, then this is a crime. I just want to share a clip of like the local news broadcast of like of them talking about it. Because like it's just so stupid even hear people talking out loud about how this is a problem. We're going to hear from the girl Anamota who is like the high school student who got cast in the role of Seymour who then had the role taken away because again she's a girl playing a boy in a play. the traditionally male lead and little shop of horrors. After I found out I got the role, I would direct to school and I would listen to just the soundtrack and to work and just the soundtrack. But five days later, she was told she wouldn't be allowed to play the part.
Starting point is 00:43:02 She says the district wanted to replace her with a male student and have her share the role of the female lead. She declined. It wasn't the role I was given. It wasn't the role I earned. And I know that if I earned something, then I want to carry out and I want to do that. But if I don't, then I don't. Mutah says she had a problem with the district's reasoning. She'd already played three male characters before at the same screen.
Starting point is 00:43:23 She says district official told her it was different this time because it was a romantic role. Why? She fell in love with a fucking plant. Because, I will say when you first brought this story up, I did think that there was a chance. It was because a male was Audrey, too. Yeah. No, I mean, and I am actually surprised that it's caused as much of an uproar as it has because typically it would be like a male and like female drag. Right.
Starting point is 00:43:59 But yeah, this is, I mean, to be quite honest with you, like I went to high school in Georgia. I mean, it's not that much different than Texas. Of course, there's these insane laws in place now. But like, even when I was in high school, like, you know, there was shit like this. Like I remember my principal called me when I was in like 10th or 9th or 10th grade called me to tell me I couldn't come to homecoming because, you know, I was going to wear a dress. And he said, well, you can't wear a dress to homecoming. You have to wear like a suit. And I was like, well, I'm not going to do that. And so he was like, well, you can't come. And I feel like that's just kind of like a standard kind of practice in the schools in the South. Yeah, to discriminate like that. Yeah. And now they have a law where they can see. say, okay, well, this is the law that backs us up. And it's just absolutely stupid.
Starting point is 00:44:52 That's what the school district is kind of doing where they're like, look, we need to just need to be in compliance with the state law. That's what this is about to try and again pass the buck. But at the end of the day, you're keeping a child from engaging with like an art form that they're clearly very passionate about. She's talking about she's going to work. She's listening to the soundtrack. She's doing everything she should be doing. And you're going to just fucking deny her this opportunity because of this bullshit law. And it's a tradition of the art form. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:45:23 Like, how many times have you said, I've seen Peter Pan. I don't know if I've ever seen somebody play Peter Pan that wasn't a girl or a woman, like on stage. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I went to high school in California, so this happened and it wasn't that big of a deal where she also mentions, and she's been doing, like, she's been interviewed a lot of times by local news because it's like a big story there. And she said, too, you know, like a lot of the times. there aren't a lot of guys who are in theater. And there's a lot of roles. Because they're not as interested in it.
Starting point is 00:45:50 They're doing sports. And so. And they get bullied for it. And we just, we step in and we just play a role because it's theater. That's true. It's a performance. Yes.
Starting point is 00:46:00 Again, the legal argument, like you're saying, it's about SB 12. When the wording there, it's about prohibiting sexually oriented performance on public property in the presence of anyone under 18. And I guess that's what they're trying to say is because Seymour is in love with the plant.
Starting point is 00:46:15 the female plant yeah like any suggestion that something might be not cis not hetero is sexually oriented yeah yeah that's the part that's like what the hell are you talking about yeah she but she has said in other interview
Starting point is 00:46:30 she's like well you know like she may there may be some like legal help coming into because she's like this feels like a title nine violation because I'm being denied an opportunity discriminated against based on sex I'm not doing anything other then I'm playing Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors in a high school play. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:50 And this really does feel like kind of when you see like this, the sort of goals of this project 2025 conservative movement, show like manifest in the most mundane ways of our day-to-day lives, which isn't just like they're shutting down this clinic because they're helping people transition or whatever. It's like this girl is playing a boy. It's like this most, it's like stupid ass. It's like comedic almost and stupidity. And I'm not even sure if it was mentioned here, but I'm not sure if this was even reported by somebody, like, where they reported it to the school or reported it to the school board.
Starting point is 00:47:26 Complained. Or if it was just the, well, the school made this decision and then they had this law to kind of back it up. But it's just, it's just fucking stupid. Yeah. Yeah, right, exactly. Even if they have, like, the fact that they even have a legal argument is whether or not they were saying you need to enforce it, I think is moved. Yeah, because precisely. Not to get all like daily showy, like, oh, they're hypocrites.
Starting point is 00:47:51 But, like, if the performance of a man falling in love with a plant is sexually oriented, it's actually sexually oriented, no matter any of the genders. Right. And that shouldn't be for kids. Yeah. If you're, if it's like the whole play is that, then you can't do it for kids. Right. Well, not in front of... Otherwise, the gender is, like, not part of it.
Starting point is 00:48:14 Yeah. Well, yeah, they're going to cancel a screening of the clumps soon, too, because they don't want Eddie Murphy dressed as his mother in that. All right, well, let's talk about Halloween Horror Nights. Growing up in L.A., this was a huge thing, one of Universal Studios, using one with, like, your friend group. You could get, like, $10 off because you had, like, a sprite can. You brought a dirty-ass spike.
Starting point is 00:48:39 right cam with you to the gate. But now it's a much bigger thing. It's big in Orlando too. And like this year, they've got all kinds of attractions. They got stuff for sinners, evil dead, and Ozzy Osbourne for some reason.
Starting point is 00:48:54 I'm sure they were quick to license his likeness for a... Is he a universal property? I'm sure, look, maybe Sharon was like... Yeah, I think he might be... Why don't we license his likeness?
Starting point is 00:49:06 So I'm not sure what's going to happen And if you're just going to hear the voice going, Sharon! Constantly through the park or what, but whatever. Yeah. Like very slowly. Yeah. Shaking. Damn.
Starting point is 00:49:22 But the hit of the year, obviously, obsession, is being represented by an actress playing Nikki who roams throughout the park. And when it was first announced, a lot of people were like, isn't this kind of backwards? Isn't Nikki the victim of the story? Not really the villain, which is kind of the thrust of the film. And they're like, they're like, should we really be putting her up there with the likes of, you know, Chuckie, the doll, or Ozzy Osbourne?
Starting point is 00:49:51 Is this really what we should be doing? But there was a clip of this woman going around went viral because the character, this character, had to cut a meat and greet short and, like, break character because she was being screamed at by a bunch of teenagers who don't know how to act. They were just kept, they were just doing the, no, no, like, just kept screaming no at her in unison from the film. And I was to the point where she kept trying to talk to these people and then had to be like, I'm so sorry about, like, just fully broke character. Yeah. Just because these kids were just screaming. I think that's nothing new in this post-lockdown period of people not knowing how to behave in public.
Starting point is 00:50:35 But this has been an issue even since the beginnings of Halloween Horror Night. So like back in 2015, the Orlando Sentinel, they had like an investigation they published into the violence and harassment that performers are subjected to, like including fake zombies being just punched in the face by guests. Oh my God. Yeah. Yeah. Another guy got kicked in the face.
Starting point is 00:50:59 An intoxicated woman, quick, quote, kicked another actor's stilts and almost knocked him to the ground. Oh, God. Yeah. And Universal's website warns people, if you mistreat any of the Halloween horror night's performers, you'll be sent home, parenthetical, possibly in a body bag. Oh, yeah, it's like little jokes, good. Yeah, but employees at the time were like, dude, they're not doing shit.
Starting point is 00:51:23 They're like, if anything, they're doing like what the Catholic Church does, and they'd be like, okay, well, don't be in this part. You can go over there now. Do your shit over there. They're just moving people around. Yeah. Yeah. And a lot of female employees were quitting due to just the widespread sexual harassment they were just facing being in costume around drunk fucking people thinking that you're in a costume.
Starting point is 00:51:45 There's some kind of fucking monster or non-human thing. Another one, in 2014, an actor was, quote, attacked by six men leading to a brawl that resulted in security deploying tear gas and tasers. So it's not, look, it's not just, you know, kids who don't know how to act. The big thing, though, that they really point to is, like, the alcohol consumption. Yeah. Because, like, it's a huge earner for a fucking universe. Right, right, right. So they're like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:13 Yeah, they're balancing profits over the safety of the people who are, you know, the workers. Especially, and it seems like especially women, this would be, this would, well, I'm not saying that women shouldn't be scaricatures, but maybe this is a time when we would have some men and women's roles. so that they're getting beat up as Nikki from Obsession or whatever. And I will say like obsession, when I still haven't seen it. I was actually in San Fran recovering from my surgery during that time. So I still haven't seen it. But obviously I know about it and I've seen it memed. And I do find it funny how the female character, Nikki,
Starting point is 00:52:56 is like the meme of the movie when I'm assuming an actuality. it's about how this guy is like a total asshole. And this is kind of, I guess, the new, like, bro. Like, every few years we get, like, a new, like, kind of bro cinema movie. And I think this is kind of that for this generation. Well, clearly a lot of people, the message was lost on a lot of people. And I think they just, they just latch on to, like, what was the scary thing? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:26 Yeah. Just like with, like, all of these other kind of bro cinema movies that pop up, They totally are lost on the message. And, you know, in this case, they have, like, aimed their misogyny at these women's characters. If you were a theme park designer worth a damn, the scariest realm would be what happened to Nikki during that movie? Yes.
Starting point is 00:53:50 Right. Like, if you, if you. As a maze or something. Trapped in whatever the fuck realm she's, we see, we hear her in for like a fraction of a second. Yeah. What the fuck is happening there? I mean, I think this is also maybe,
Starting point is 00:54:04 it's just like this idea, like just one dystopian level further where you can just pay money, drink, and beat up human beings. It's like Westmore. Yeah, right? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:17 Or just like get out some weird, deep-seated shit that's like getting brought out to you because you see someone on stilts or a clown. Yeah. I think so many people like, you know, like with horror, there's certain things appeal to people's subconscious on a certain level.
Starting point is 00:54:32 And like to go into a place you're surrounded by that and these people are like dressed up pretending to not be people and that sounds like a fucking disaster for America because no one is fucking
Starting point is 00:54:44 everyone needs help. During like the zombie walking dead era, there's like a whole subgenre of like white dudes that were fantasizing about like zombie apocalypse. Apocalypse, yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:56 Because it would mean that they would just be able to like shoot like killed people. They want to kill people. Yeah, they want to kill people. And then I can protect a woman who will date me because I could shoot the zombies. Yes, exactly. And she will be called, I don't know, I haven't thought of her name yet, but it'll be nice.
Starting point is 00:55:14 The thing that's also wild too, right, is like the alcohol, everyone says it's the fucking alcohol that is like one of the biggest drivers of the problems. In 2017, the Orlando Sentinel, just two years after publishing that investigative report about the, fucking like the just the fucking chaos of being a scarecor at Halloween Horror Nights. They published rules for a Halloween Horror Nights drinking game. Yeah. And then they pulled it down because people were like, oh, fuck yeah, we're doing this. And we're getting, quote, a little handsy with the scare actors. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Which seems like pretty cavalier way to describe assault. This is how they even talk about it. This is from the archived post of the Sentinel article about the drinking games. It says so somewhat overzealous partyers get two sloshed and a little handsy with this characters. So now I have to give the dad talk. No one likes to be grabbed, goose, or groped. Just like in the champagne room, there's no touching. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:16 In the champagne room. What the fuck are you talking about in this? Art think this is what they... This was the little caveat they attach to their drinking game after they know, they're like, yeah, it's the booze. All right, here's how you get fucked up there. And don't goose them, will you? Yeah. Talking about assaulting people.
Starting point is 00:56:33 Maybe if you, like there's never, the phrase a little handsy is never anything other than straight up sexual assault. Yeah, that's a very 2017. The entire statement is all very like euphemisms, like the champagne room, like all of the, like what? Well, and like the champagne rooms, you're talking about a private dance with a stripper? Right. So we're already making it. It is this, so these people are here for your pleasure. Like, you're like, and just like the other place where these people are objects to you,
Starting point is 00:57:07 let's not think about the humanity, but also just no touching, okay? No touching. But at least at a fucking strip club, if you're touching a big-ass bouncer come and beat the shit out of you or fucking scare the fuck out of you and protect people, they don't have that a universal. Well, it sounds like they need to have some bouncers. Yeah, maybe they. Because, again, it sounds like everything, like so much of American cults, like where people, people just don't know how to act is because there's such an inability to tell people to fucking stop or people aren't reprimanded properly.
Starting point is 00:57:36 It's always like, well, you know, this person's rich or, well, this person. And we make excuses for not being like, no, bro, this is not some shit to play with your fucking out of here. But they're making money. The customer is always right is that assault on workers. Yeah, exactly. That's all that phrase exists. Yeah, it is. So anyway, if you're out there, please don't goose or grope them.
Starting point is 00:57:59 Okay. Just like the champagne room. Don't assault anyone in or out of Hollywood Horror Nights. Or the champagne room. I think and also please bring the strip club bouncers to Halloween Horror Nights because according to like a survey of people
Starting point is 00:58:16 who are working as scare actors, 82% of them don't report any kind of assault or harassment because they felt it wouldn't matter since nothing happens. Yeah. That's a fucking huge failure. Just to be like, it's, I mean, again, reflective of so many transgressions people face in this country,
Starting point is 00:58:35 there's always a thing that's like, I don't even know if anyone, I don't even know if I can receive justice, actually. And I'm sure they're paid so well, and I'm sure that there's, you know, benefits and all of this kind of stuff. Oh, sure, sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, college tuition and all that.
Starting point is 00:58:49 Yeah. All right, let's take another break. When we come back, let's just get fucking swallowed by a whale at this point. Just fucking give it up. Please. I want a whale's gullet after this. love.

Starting point is 01:00:22 Because you told us how accommodating you are. Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Liar.

It's the one you're thinking about, trust me. Or maybe we'll talk about music and what's happening in the underground or drama in music or TV shows or the Met Gala and what the actors wore. Starting point is 01:04:07 So this weekend, we're getting whale fog. a movie all about a scuba diver, Lubin. Are you for scuba lubin? Who gets swallowed up by a sperm whale and has to figure out how to escape its stomach before running out of oxygen. Have you seen the trailer, Andrew? I have seen the trailer.
Starting point is 01:04:29 I'm reading a little bit ahead on this document you guys put together. Yeah. Can I spoil one thing that is blowing my mind? This shit is based on a book? Yeah. What the fuck is? going on? What the fuck is going on with books?
Starting point is 01:04:44 I guess. People are writing books about anything these days. Oh my god, that's amazing. So the book. I've been interested in Kwan Mills books. Yeah, that's true. That right, I got swallowed by a whale. Do you remember that one, that one clip from 2020 of the people like that were like in the kayaks and the whale came up and they're like, oh, those people got almost fucking eaten by a whale. I think I do think I do think they remember this. Here, let me see.
Starting point is 01:05:13 I think these are clips. But anyway, this is, I saw the trailer before a horror, I forget which horror movie I was seeing recently where I'd seen that, the trailer for this. So I saw it before Resident Evil, and it also, it's a double Austin Abrams. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Fucked up year for Austin Abrams characters.
Starting point is 01:05:32 But that's why, I mean, Austin Abrams, he's been, in my opinion, one of my favorite horror actors recently because he brings a lot of, like, goofy comedy And so I am interested to see if there's any sort of aspect to this because he's always a little goofy, you know. Like to Andrew, your point, it is based on a book. And sure, it's based on a book about a viral video of two kayakers
Starting point is 01:05:58 who almost got eaten by a whale or went really in the whale's mouth, if anything. But the thing is, this has never actually happened to anybody on earth in the history of humanity. But it could, if you think about it. Yeah, that's true. It could if you need the Bible to be real, okay? Yeah. That's right.
Starting point is 01:06:21 That's right. Truly, right? So, I mean, again, there was another incident. In 2021, there was a recorded incident of a lobster diver named Michael Packard, who was reportedly, quote, swallowed by a humpback whale off province town. Packard also was invited to the screening of whale fall in fucking 4DX like this shit where your seats move and water's coming
Starting point is 01:06:46 and people were like You got splashed In one writing it said Worried the film might prove triggering Especially given we were seeing it in a regal 4DX theater I assure Packard he can leave at any point He confesses that when he watched the trailer He had like he had memories but he would be fine for the thing
Starting point is 01:07:03 So that guy though was not actually swallowed by a whale. And it couldn't be a movie because at most, he said he was in there for 30 seconds, 40 tops before he said the whale quote, began shaking its head and expelled him. Let's use our imaginations. Okay.
Starting point is 01:07:21 Yeah. And let's add some Hollywood magic. Yes. I want to. I'm trying it. I'm just saying a TikTok from the whales perspective. Just like, oh.
Starting point is 01:07:32 What a fuck. What a fuck? God damn. Bad day to be a whale. Yeah. It's like swallowing a bug. It's like, fuck, that's gross. Yeah, a bug with a bunch of, like, fucking metal, like, with a bunch of equipment.
Starting point is 01:07:46 Yeah. Yeah. It's like, god damn. That's someone with an oxygen tank? The fuck was that? But a lot of people, again, I just want to point out, so when you need to be insufferable when talking about whale fall and the reality of the situation, people pointed out with that guy who was, quote unquote, swallowed by a humpback, biologists were like,
Starting point is 01:08:03 That's impossible because the throat of that whale is the size of a human fist. So miss us with that one. They only said the only one that could fully get you like down their throat is a sperm whale. And so they do have that right for this film. So at least they were like they haven't fallen into those mistakes. At least it is the one that is big enough to. So this is a sperm whale. This is a sperm whale.
Starting point is 01:08:30 Hell yeah. But I think again there's and like this also this like table. My favorite kind of whale. The hell, yeah. The throat goat. The literal throat goat. The throat boat. It's a biggest throat.
Starting point is 01:08:43 It's the biggest throat. I mean, it should be. I think so. I can't deny. So this is also an old story that happened in the late 19th century where a sailor said he fell into the ocean. The crew thought he drowned, but then they caught a whale. And when they cut it open, the man just flopped out,
Starting point is 01:09:00 still alive after 15 hours inside the, the belly. And this was a myth that went on for a long time but then finally people were like, no, this is a hoax that originated with a letter by fucking sailors who were just writing shit back because it's 1891 and y'all
Starting point is 01:09:17 made up a lot of shit. They're losing their shit. That's the best fucking job to lie. Because I'm going to know, you were out there? Let me see, you got to vote that seaworthy? No, you don't. Man, shut the fuck up. Let me know when you get your sea legs. Yeah. I saw the edge of the world, motherfucker.
Starting point is 01:09:33 You just dream about it. There were mermaids. I talked to that big face at the edge of the world. No, I am excited for this movie. I personally am terrified of the ocean and open water. I think it's called Thalasophobia or whatever. And this trailer, like in video games, you cannot get me to do anything that's like underwater or anything like that. Oh, really?
Starting point is 01:09:58 This is like a special. Oh, no, that shit, fuck. You know Mario side-scroller underwater is like... Well, side-scrolling is okay, but the first time that I remember, like, it actually terrifying me was in Mario 64. 64, yeah. Where you are in that, and that fucking snake thing. Yeah. You know, that shit fucking terrifying.
Starting point is 01:10:20 Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got to keep... Protect your neck out there, Carmen, for sure. I can't walk under big, big bricks with a face because of Mario. It's so stupid. It's a same thing. What are they called? The swamps.
Starting point is 01:10:35 Yeah. Can't do it. Can't do it. And I won't do it. Can't. But I just want to say, though, since that sailor who lied, the reason why this story endures realistically is because this is like, because Christians were holding on to this sailor who got swallowed as evidence of the biblical story of Jonah who was swallowed by a whale.
Starting point is 01:10:56 And that this is also the same thing when people who are like just can't let go of finding Noah's ark because they're like, well, if we find the ark, then that never goes the Bible's really. Right, right. And if this guy My mom, that was the Bible's real. Who's a nurse told me when I was a child
Starting point is 01:11:09 that women have like the one less, women have like one extra rib from like Adam or whatever the fuck. Like that's like a real myth that some people believe also. Yeah. Once you start counting them ribs.
Starting point is 01:11:24 Yeah. That's not how it works. You're like, no, it's about the same. Ah, you counted? Damn. See, that's where that story falls apart. I was counting on. you to not just take that and not really interrogate what I said at all.
Starting point is 01:11:38 Shit. Yeah. Yeah, we got the same ones. That's true. It's true. Oh, wow. And also, yeah, we ain't shit either. Sorry about that.
Starting point is 01:11:46 Well, for those of you seeing whale fall, I wish you good luck as you, as you, you know, experience what it would be like. As you get swallowed. Yeah. Looking for that oxygen. But, you know, I think, I'm trying to see digger still. I still need to get... I can't do it. Did you see it, Andrew?
Starting point is 01:12:06 No, I heard it was kind of boring. When I saw, instead of seeing Digger, is I saw a Korean movie called Hope, it's mostly, by the time this comes out, mostly out of the theaters. I'll just say this, because I already got into several arguments about this. I acknowledge, I guess I don't understand the movie,
Starting point is 01:12:22 but to me, that movie's first hour and a half is like, I genuinely was in the theater, like, I think this is my favorite movie of all time. And I'll just say by the end of it, I was... Did not feel like that? I'll just say my joke reaction, which was, I think...
Starting point is 01:12:43 After seeing the rest of the movie, I was like, I think maybe this movie was written by AI. It was... It had that type of storytelling where I was like, hold up, what? Sometimes Korean movies and dramas will have kind of like a crazy ending. Yeah, that's what I was told is that this is like a... there's a commentary about Korean cinema that I simply do to understand. I acknowledge that.
Starting point is 01:13:06 But I really when this movie comes out on Blu-ray, I'm for real, genuinely thinking about like pulling it into like fucking Avid or premiere or whatever the fuck and like cutting the movie that I thought it was going to be. Yeah. You can see.
Starting point is 01:13:20 I loved it. I love it. I love it. It's a three-hour movie. I love the first hour and a half so much. Wow. The second half was not to my taste. what I will say. Well, we will check back in. But I do want everyone to see it.
Starting point is 01:13:34 I want y'all to see it because I need someone to tell me I'm wrong or explain. I just don't know what the hell happens in the back half. Okay. Last movie I saw in the theater was the faculty and I'd never seen it before. Oh. But Josh Hardin?
Starting point is 01:13:49 Yeah, I'd never seen it before. It was funny as fuck. Is that like a possession or like alien possession? It's basically like an invasion of the body selection. type of vibe, you know, at like a high school, like set in like a high school. I kind of remember it. Yeah, it was in. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 01:14:11 It's an... Usher was in it. It's a star-studded... Like Baby Usher. Yes. It's a very star-studded movie. They got everybody in that movie. Like, Usher looks like he's 13 in this movie.
Starting point is 01:14:23 Yeah, he really does. He really does. They all kind of look, actually... You know how normally when there's people in high school, they're absolutely like 30 years old. Yeah, yeah. I kind of, are you guys watching Carrie? Not to...
Starting point is 01:14:35 Oh, no. There's a boyfriend character in Carrie who is the widest 27-year-old man I've ever seen in high school. Like, supposed to be 16. It's just like he's like... You're just like, sir, you are too old. You got great nose to go.
Starting point is 01:14:53 You look great. You look great, but you got to take that letter jacket off because that was crazy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, Carmen, thank you so much for joining us on The Daily Zykeyes. What do the people find,
Starting point is 01:15:05 you, follow you, all that fantastic stuff? You can find me on Instagram at the Carmen LaRae. And, yeah, just other than that, producing all my pods and stuff. Check them out.
Starting point is 01:15:19 Thank for having me all. Yeah, and is there a work of media that you've been enjoying? Oh, my God. I had a problematic one that I've been enjoying. enjoying too much and I'm like, you know, I'm going to keep that under wraps. Okay.
Starting point is 01:15:32 It's an in-cell guy that lives in. He's like a crazy insult. Because, you know, I'm not trying to like platform an install. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But your morbid obsession is a... Yes, I have like this crazy. You know me. I have like weird.
Starting point is 01:15:47 I have weird internet. Yes, I have weird internet obsessions. Yes, for sure. But one that is not that problematic is one of my favorite drag queens recently out of drag race is Corey Kee. King and recently Corey King and Plain Jane
Starting point is 01:16:03 have done a Corey King often makes herself over as like different people and they have done a Shane Dawson and Jeffrey Star going to the Dollar Tree
Starting point is 01:16:14 video recently because I don't know if anybody, this is like just gay makeup world kind of news but like Jeffrey Star famed like racist,
Starting point is 01:16:25 loser like Maga Idiot with a failing makeup brand has recently like his makeup has recently started popping up in the dollar tree which you know is kind of like
Starting point is 01:16:42 maybe a sign of like the brand is not strong yeah the brand not doing so hot and so Corey King who is a drag queen from RuPaul's drag race and also like content creator on YouTube and plain Jane
Starting point is 01:16:57 to Shane Dawson and Jeffrey Starr makeover video and they went to the Dollar Treating together. And it's quite funny and I've just been enjoying. I've been on my like YouTube drag content recently
Starting point is 01:17:11 and that's been giving me joy. Okay. Yeah. You got to find it and you got to embrace it. Yeah. Andrew, what about you? Thank you for joining us. Where do they find you?
Starting point is 01:17:20 What's the work of media you've been enjoying? I guess Andrew T. On whatever social media, I guess. Uh, what it was. Oh, yes. Change. The Yo is this racist podcast has sunsetted and we've replaced it with the starter track podcast where me and Tony Newsom and Jesse Jender, they're making me watch Star Trek
Starting point is 01:17:42 episodes. I don't know what the hell is going on. It's very fun. And a work of media, I, listen, I already blew it, but I just need someone else to watch the first hour and a half, which is only 50% of the movie of hope. and just tell me what, just assure me that I'm not, you know, out of my mind.
Starting point is 01:18:02 Right, right, right. Okay. Let's do it. I'm going to check it out, actually, Andrew. It's so good. It's so good for an hour and a half. It's like, it's like Jaws meets the new Resident Evil.
Starting point is 01:18:15 Really? It's so good. Is it a horror? It's like a horror? Yeah, actually. It's not like a thriller. No, it's like an action, action-horrory kind of thing.
Starting point is 01:18:27 until it super duper is not. Yeah, I'll check it out because I like a lot of... I don't want to spoil it, but it takes such a bizarre turn that I'm just like, I don't know what's happening. I'm into it. I'll check it out. I don't know what's happening, please. Me, find me everywhere at Miles of Gray,
Starting point is 01:18:44 talking about 90-day fiancé on 420-day fiancé. You can also catch me talking about the English Premier League and Champions League on Aint Footie with Jim Lowe Johnson and Chris Martin. Wait, what's the two minutes on Man City? No, 10 seconds on Man City. Guilty as fuck. They need to have the title strip.
Starting point is 01:19:03 They need to be relegated into fucking the shadow realm. And they need to claw their fucking way back into the Premier League. They need to go three leagues down before they are able to repent for the fucking financial doping that they are fucking guilty of as being a state-owned football club. There it is. Somebody that has no idea what's going on. I loved. You just saw me. I was doing the male sports version of when someone catches the whole.
Starting point is 01:19:26 Holy Ghost. He goes, shibra on somebody like, I was just like, yeah, 140 charge of finance. I was like,
Starting point is 01:19:32 oh yeah, Miles has opinions. I'm like, no, but I agree. And also at at gombaby gondy gondy,
Starting point is 01:19:39 got social posted, it said, the quote, dirtbag left never had any meaning beyond person I beefed with on Twitter during
Starting point is 01:19:46 the 2016 primaries. Please free yourselves. Yeah, people are still holding on to it. Yeah, yeah,
Starting point is 01:19:53 it's been, it's been fucking 10 years. God, 2016, 10 years ago, blows your mind to think about, right? It feels like 100 based on how fucking far we've just tumbled, too. Oh, truly. A lot of people have, a lot of people have like, I've seen a lot of posts on the internet with people being like, does it feel like we've kind of lost our ability to enjoy things
Starting point is 01:20:13 like since 2020? And I'm like, I think it all depends on. And social interaction. Yeah, I think a lot of it has to do with how much you were engaged with how dark the world actually is. And I think 2020 was kind of a moment where like a lot of stuff came to the forefront and you had the time to kind of interrogate a lot of things. Also a lot of facades fell away. Yeah, exactly. You used to just be like, yeah, that guy's kind of conservative or whatever.
Starting point is 01:20:38 And now it's like, oh, you believe in racist fairy tales exclusively. Your disdain name is Dr. Mangala, but with Riz. That's such a weird fucking display name. I think it's, yeah, you can't sweep like anything under the rug anymore, basically. Once you learn one thing about someone, you're like, oh, that means you believe a lot of shit. I also find like some things feel so frivolous too. Like I'm like, what it? Like some things are just like so unsurious now, like that I'm like this.
Starting point is 01:21:08 We can't like everything's too serious right now. I can't. I can't. Do we want to take the plug section of this show and go into a complete existential spiral? Yeah. I think so. This is why people need to listen all the way through. We were like recommending tweets.
Starting point is 01:21:24 Yeah. Tim's like, Hey, I got another tweet for you, actually. Yeah, okay. It's, I don't even know who it's from, but I saw it online. Gypsy Rose said, oh, you thought I was a one hit wonder bit?
Starting point is 01:21:35 Time for round two, motherfucker. Oh, my God, Gypsy. We haven't even talked about that. That is also wild. All right. Anyway, you can find us on Twitter and Blue Sky Daily Zikeis. We're at the Daily Zikeyes on Instagram.
Starting point is 01:21:48 Go to the description of the episode. Wherever you're listening now, go to the bottom. You want to read the articles we talked about? That's where you'll find the foot and all. Don't. Thank you. Which is where we link off to the information we talked about in today's episode, as well as a song we think you might enjoy.
