Starting point is 00:01:04 Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry. Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. Every great player needs a foil. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Listen to the making of a rivalry. Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese on the iHeart on the iheart radio app apple podcast or wherever you
Starting point is 00:01:25 get your podcast presented by capital one founding partner of iheart women's sports hello the internet and welcome to this episode of white lotus sees trend to the spoiler free edition because only one of us has watched it i'm jack that is miles what happened are you are you planning to watch it oh yeah yeah yeah absolutely i loved the first season i just didn't like you know how it is there's so much shit going on i don't know how much look i'm gonna watch it actually probably starting tonight or tomorrow so you haven't watched any of the episodes of season 2? No, I just know it takes place in my favorite place and somehow I'm more insufferable than them
Starting point is 00:02:10 is what a lot of people have told me You're more insufferable than these They're like, dude, these people make you look like a respectable American tourist over there When you go on tour, as it were I mean, where did that come from? You just immerse yourself And I was like, wow. When you go on tour, as it were.
Starting point is 00:02:27 I mean, where did that come from? You just immerse yourself. Yeah, you know, I just like to feel it. There's nothing insufferable about that. You just become one and start speaking with an Italian accent. Exactly. What if I won a Negroni Spaglio Bacchimano? You know what I mean? As we say.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Yeah. I will say it was a banger of a finale um i i haven't read all of the analyses uh to the point that somebody just said this is probably what happened and i was like wait huh i did i so i i've got a lot of googling left to do i just watched it i'm coming in coming in fresh but okay um that's one of the trends big payoff i would say for good i'd say you know season one may have been slightly better than season two but the finale is season two really you know really oh yeah because i mean i there was some there were hijinks in that first season and what i heard the third season is about eastern
Starting point is 00:03:22 religion or something really Really? Yeah. At least I saw a headline about that, that it's going to discuss Eastern religion. Like a White Lotus meditation retreat type thing? I hope, rather than the Western gaze upon it, being like, isn't this a bunch of fucking hokum? Yeah. I have a feeling it's about the insufferables. There's a lot of that.
Starting point is 00:03:44 There is a lot of that there is a lot of that i wonder if the rest of the country will be as familiar with what the target of like people you know using and abusing eastern religions for like modern instagram yeah i mean right i guess it's on instagram it's it's everywhere that's not just la la has been exported everywhere la's insufferableness has been thank you exported everywhere all right well speaking of insufferable um elon musk was called on stage uh by dave chappelle at a major like huge concert and got just lustily booed and booed the fuck out of there thank god i'll just we'll play a little bit so people can understand this man was getting booed
Starting point is 00:04:34 the people of san francisco take it away okay right there jack what would you say the mix is between cheering and booing what do you think the what's the level i hear because it changes clapping um so i'd have to say it's 90 cheers 10 booze okay let's keep going let's keeppark it. Okay, let's hear a little bit more because that might change. I hear some clapping. It's souring. Somebody just said, yeah. Don't ignore the guy who said, yeah. So he got booed.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Just because a couple negative Nancy's decide to boo doesn't mean that the world doesn't love you, Elon. He said that he's like, technically, it was about 90% cheers with only 10% booze, except for those parts where it was quiet. Dude, shut up. You people don't fuck with you. That's just straight up. Clearly, you didn't feel that way when you walked onto stage because you walked on with big Maximus energy, like you said, Miles, like walking out.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Are you not entertained with the arms out? And immediately got your little boy on and started walking around and then eventually just said, what should I say, Dave? Right. To Dave Chappelle. I know.
Starting point is 00:06:10 He really did. What should I say? They were both so out of touch. I mean, Dave Chappelle has fully, he's left earth. My man was doing everything he could to try and make Elon Musk seem cool by bringing him out on stage,
Starting point is 00:06:25 which already is, sir, come on now. And then he was saying some shit like, wow, if you notice the people that are booing, those are the people in the cheap seats up there. And then turned it into a like, oh, the people that are booing are haters. Yeah. And then I'm like, oh, so Dave Chappelle, your analysis has become so fucking stale. You've crossed the Rubicon to the point where now your takes are only going to be looked through this real fucking whack prism of i mean look there's ballers and then there's haters and it's clear
Starting point is 00:06:54 it's some haters out here and they're mad because we're the ballers no need for any further analysis there yeah chapelle did say that's the sound of civil unrest but if you listen to it he says it in a nerd voice right he goes uh that's the sound of civil unrest um so he also said some things that like are true like he said elon musk plan is fuck earth i'm leaving anyways yeah so like that's true but but he said it like so what why are you mad at him? Yeah. Then he's like, you could boo all you want. Do something better. You could do something better than booing. What?
Starting point is 00:07:29 And then he was talking about, this guy gave me a jet pack. So you could boo on my nutsacks when I fly over y'all. Like, dude, that's what? Dave, you both taking L's up there. Yeah. So he basically closes it out plaintively. You guys are jerks. we're done with this show but then there's like a later part where somebody came out and i think chris rock was on stage is that right yeah and and they were doing like i'm rich biatch like quotes from
Starting point is 00:08:00 chapelle show and then he was like elon mus you should, you should be the one who's saying that. And Elon Musk said, I'm raw bitch. Like it was, it was the weirdest delivery. And yeah, it was a mess. It's the best is again, someone tweeting Elon Musk,
Starting point is 00:08:18 having to get it technically was 90% shares and 10% booze. But still that's a lot of booze, which is a first for me in real life. It's almost as if I've offended san francisco's unhinged leftists but nah nah dude the problem is you have reached that point where you are so wealthy and your ego will only allow you to have sycophants around you that you live in an echo chamber of your own creation. And then when you step out into the real world, yeah, guess what?
Starting point is 00:08:47 Boo. Yeah. That's you. And like Dave, if you're taking up for people at the end, he's like, I want people to live in peace and harmony. It's like, why'd you bring up this guy?
Starting point is 00:08:56 Who's all this hate speech is just exploding under his watch on a fucking social media platform. It's like, you don't give a fuck about anybody except the other rich people. Man, stop playing. It's like, you don't give a fuck about anybody except the other rich people. Man. Stop playing. So feeling insecure, Elon Musk took to Twitter and tweeted a hilarious tweet saying,
Starting point is 00:09:12 my pronouns are prosecute slash Fauci. That's sick. That's sick. Which is brutal. I mean, just like from a, like just from a comedy perspective, like,
Starting point is 00:09:23 but it's like like it's clear that he you know thinks that he's funny because he did the snl thing and the audience isn't allowed to boo there and are like being fed like laugh laugh laugh before the person comes on um and he's being gaslit by you know a bunch of yes men and like you said but he's also tweeting this he's just like so desperate for affection and likes that he's tweeting this at a time when covid is like there there's a new york times article yesterday that was saying that like we're now at a place where the rate of COVID hospitalizations for seniors now exceeds the Delta wave. And America and China are in really bad shape because the over 65 people
Starting point is 00:10:15 who all rushed out and got COVID vaccines when they first came out, 94% of seniors over 65 years old got their prime doses. And now the right has won that culture war to the point that now it's way lower like it's i think only 34 percent of seniors have gotten the latest booster overall for americans is just 13 percent um people have fully i mean i get like i understand the fatigue of having to live in a different way than we were prior to march of 2020 but you can't just be you can't ugh your way out of a pandemic yeah and so many people are it's really weird like you think getting that booster means the pandemic is still happening so if you don't your mindset will then somehow attract a protective barrier around
Starting point is 00:11:06 you because you're not fucking with the pandemic anymore yeah it's really it's odd i mean like i remember when andrew t came on he's like yo i got that new new i got jealous yeah i was like how the fuck did you get that shit already he's like they just had it they said i could have it yeah uh and i was but i mean look to each their own but my god to act surprised because you then hear like you see takes like this on twitter all the time it's like oh my god are people getting covid again what the heck's going on what do you what the heck is going on we live in a fucking pandemic and then and but all the messaging is like it's over whatever only the fucking week got fucked and the strong remain
Starting point is 00:11:45 so yeah like let's turn up it's really it's gonna be a really bad you know next six months for people over 65 in the country like all all the warning signs are there for another really deadly run of this disease so i mean if you can still speak to your elderly relatives and like you know get through to them yeah or fuck it just make sure their last will and testament is up to date and you get yours you know what i mean right there you do what you got to do but hey don't get caught lacking out there folks yeah what do you i'm sorry back to that what do you think like what did his support group of people that he hangs out with have to tell him what did they how did they describe what the fuck after he got off after the chase center yeah i did well clearly they told him dude it was 90 cheers you just like the booze you obviously heard that because you're sensitive
Starting point is 00:12:35 but it was mostly cheer they were mostly cheering for you it was just like a handful of mean people who are mad yeah which is then when he i think he then was like the woke mind virus must be defeated it's like oh is that is that what you wrote in your little journal because the people were mean to you because you fucking suck objectively yeah yeah that's the other thing he did is like there's evidence that he shadow banned the elon jet guy like he's using his power for just straight up authority oh yeah like it's self-preservation and ego preservation a lot of people pointed out the fact that, like, one of the first accounts that posted this, like, viral video of him getting booed got, like, destroyed. Like, not even suspended. Like, the account was fucking gone.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Like, disappeared. Right. So, whatever. I think a lot of people rightly... There's a reason you don't see Elon Musk or, like, booed trending. Because I'm sure the people over there are making sure daddy doesn't get his fingies or his feelings hurt.
Starting point is 00:13:30 But you do see boo earns trending, which is a good reference to the Simpsons where Mr. Burns is like saying, are they yelling burns or boo earns? Wait, is that true? That's trending? Yeah, yeah. Boo earns is trending. That's amazing. Yeah. So we always have the Simpsons. Let's take? Yeah, yeah. Boo earns is trending. That's amazing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:46 So we always have The Simpsons. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members,
Starting point is 00:14:29 and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career,
Starting point is 00:15:05 you have a lot of questions like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Sanner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to
Starting point is 00:15:44 thrive in the early years of your career. Without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is Season 4 of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil.
Starting point is 00:16:16 I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game?
Starting point is 00:16:35 And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. And we're back. Wow. Can't believe Mr. Online himself didn't think to like block boo earns
Starting point is 00:17:09 you know all right his his hive mind of uh you know extremely online supporters presumably told him quickly i'm sure that'll stop trending pretty soon stop trending uh christopher nolan is trending because this is fucking sick bro so he always insists on practical effects and his latest subject the movie that's coming out next is about oppenheimer who created the nuclear bomb for America. And so that something was going to have to give here, you know? Oh yeah. Look, as someone who's half Japanese and whose grandparents literally lived in one of
Starting point is 00:17:55 the target cities for the atomic bombs. I don't know why I'm really stoked to hear this news that Chris Nolan has apparently this guy, again, this guy loves practical effects dude it's the fucking key ingredient for the look of his films by the way hey check out my fight club poster in the back shit sick dude obviously in the fucking cinema um but yeah he didn't get that movie dude like they were the same yeah exactly i mean it goes without saying dude dude they were the same
Starting point is 00:18:24 guy you know you know i have the red leather jacket tyler durden wore right what yeah did i wear that out friday night ebang for that shit so i think the reason why it's trending is he said he has captured or recreated the first nuclear weapon detonation without using computers. You know, like, everything, like, from, like, his Batman films, everything's about in-camera effects, practical effects, and I don't know what the fuck he means by
Starting point is 00:18:53 I made the first nuclear weapon detonation without CGI, but I'm guessing he traded it. Dude, you should have just hired me. I would have done it with a vape. With a vape, dude. Vape, huh? Vape daddy over here.
Starting point is 00:19:03 I could have done that shit. Yo, dude, all right, what's the scene oh all right what's up dude all right you got a miniature watcher hey dude can you play some dubstep real quick in the background to fucking pump me up holy shit so yeah uh go on we'll see what we'll see what this film uh what it what it all looks like yeah sure it'll look great as his movies usually do but we'll we'll see i've like been like oh that shit didn't have no effects but i've missed so many of the other films he's made like i haven't seen interstellar like some of these other movies he's made you haven't seen interstellar oh bro can i say i'm a fan dude that that's a movie that when i saw it i was like that's dumb and then i keep hearing really smart people who i just know back to her like that's actually really good you gotta
Starting point is 00:20:00 it's so weird i don't even know what i know i just know the meat the memes so hard i know the memes dude like where mcconaughey's like no no no i can't like this other person looks pretty fucking weird dude because the memes fucking hey man it's trippy hell yeah it's trippy things hey let's just say things work a little differently on other planets okay also wasn't that another first two where they're like he successfully created to scientists what a visualization of a black hole would look like on camera like that was another big up he got in interstellar there was like a lot of press around the launch of that movie like with scientists being like yes this is he's nailed it he's done it this time folks also he gave us the sickest character in heath ledger's joker full so let's not forget dude
Starting point is 00:20:51 the fucking g i mean it is a hell of a performance not as good as jared leto's joker but oh of course not uh mark meadows texts are trending because there's a talking points memo article out that has access to a bunch of the texts that he turned over to the January 6th committee. And it appears as though they were basically trying to overthrow the election. Like, no way. Yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:21:22 The text revealed that, huh? Okay. So it's pretty obvious in the trump white house sure sure members of congress sure sure sure sure um so we didn't need this article to know any of that right um but that's what i hate about like the like the sort of public optic side of this like investigation of like seeding the outrage enough. So when people understand it's like,
Starting point is 00:21:47 and then those people should probably be, you know, go on trial or something. Right. Uh, that we see these in like to everyone else. Like, I don't,
Starting point is 00:21:55 I don't know, man. Like we see people get thrown in jail for less, like without a trial. Can we, can we do that version of the justice system? And I think that's my own ignorance thinking that there is the consistent application of justice but my god it's like it does feel like when like people on the right are like new hunter biden laptop drop this thing had this email
Starting point is 00:22:18 oh we can't wait to see what the fbi has to say about this they don't give a fuck that's true you know so like when it's this shit it's like explosive i don't care talking points memo what the fuck is doj doing with that shit otherwise we're just over here being like yeah they're fucking craving yeah what else uh the the same thing on the other side, I guess. Barry Weiss had her Twitter files, the latest Twitter files, to drop and scandalize a very specific group of people. Yeah, the Twitter. I didn't even know we were at number five. I just remember the Taibbi one, which was so sad. And it was like, ooh, they do moderation.
Starting point is 00:23:06 And then this one is basically the same thing. It's like, Oh, Trump was like rah, rah, rah, rah, rah,
Starting point is 00:23:11 rah, rah, rah, a violent attack. And then they suspended him the next day. Right. Okay. It gives you looks behind the scenes of what the conversation was like.
Starting point is 00:23:22 And then, but yeah, I mean the outcome, I didn the outcome i didn't think that was even an outcome that people i guess that side is probably pretty pissed that he was suspended but right but again what they're trying to act like is like this is twitter so like i don't know they're they're they're in the can for joe by or something. Right. It's again, it's like most people, most people are like,
Starting point is 00:23:47 yeah. So there's such thing as like boundaries. And when you cross them, you may like face some kind of repercussion based on that. Yeah. Whereas, so we'll see. We'll see. It just seems like two people,
Starting point is 00:24:00 two sides being completely outraged about wildly non-equivalent things. Yeah, I know. Please, let us know what will happen with Mark Meadows' text. I just want to... Just don't do the headline of, Ooh, you'll never guess what the guy you saw do all that bad shit with your own eyes got caught doing. But he was texting while he did it. Oh, okay. All right, that's true. Check out these emojis. He was using Memojis. shit with your own eyes got caught doing but he was texting while he did it so oh okay all right
Starting point is 00:24:26 that's true check out these emojis he was using me emojis as he was plotting against the united states like okay oh man those are some those me emojis have turned the world upside down you know yeah oh yeah a lot of people think it's the rise of fascism no you can draw a straight line from january 6 to those Memojis. Yep. All right. Those are some things that are trending on this Monday, December 12th. We are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show.
Starting point is 00:24:54 Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Get the flu shot. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. We'll talk to y'all tomorrow. Bye. Bye. Bye. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and Shekinah Church.
Starting point is 00:25:31 Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradenti. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden.
