Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of You Can't Hide Your Lying Zites. every Thursday. But I don't know why they're happening or that they're happening until they're out. I like them. Anyways, I'm Jack.
Starting point is 00:02:27 That's Miles. These are some of the things that are trending on this Friday, September 2nd. Long weekend. Long weekie. You doing anything fun? Nope. It's fucking so hot, man. I'm having to navigate the flex alerts. They're like, hey, man, can you turn the AC down? I'm like it's so i'm having to like navigate the flux alerts
Starting point is 00:02:45 or like hey man can you turn the ac down i'm like i'm wrapping myself in a wet towel okay yeah that's why i'm just trying to get solar man so i'm gonna be like i'm off this right i'm making my own fucking power get me off that grid yeah um anyway no are you driving through death valley this afternoon oh shit okay it's supposed to be 124 degrees yeah wait why we're going to uh i think that's the way that we tend to go to uh mammoth oh shit okay yeah we're going up there for a little little r&r you know what i'm talking about dude little skiing in september definitely no skiing but pretty out there there's just like there are a lot of lakes yeah um which weren't there like a lot of fucking like mammoth skeletons that's what they call mammoth mountain yeah and it's close to
Starting point is 00:03:38 yosemite so yeah we got a day past yosemite yosemite yosemite my mom used to call past Yosemite. Yosemite. Yosemite. My mom used to call it Yosemite. That's how I'm just like never just reading English or just hearing the name. I remember we went there like when I was a kid and she's like, we're going to Yosemite. And I'm like, what? Anyway. I told you about the time I was in the ABC News commissary, like getting the little lunch room, getting the food. I was just like working a desk
Starting point is 00:04:06 answering phones at that time and like the other girl who was doing that was like a i think she was a princeton grad we walked up to a thing and i was like what's crudite hey oh my god you are so funny and then she was like wait are you are you serious i was like uh shut up crudite crudite baby um back to the trends back to the trends edit button is trending yeah edit buttons coming that's could be good news could be bad news i'm not sure i don't i get the frustration when you mistype some shit and you're like oh shit did numbers despite the mistake it's like well the shit did numbers either way right but that's part of twitter i think part of the art the more i think about it the more i'm looking because my first instinct is how do i abuse this right like how do i do it how do
Starting point is 00:05:06 i use it the way they don't want me to is this kind of how i'm wired as like just with my child brain and i feel like you the thing you do is you try and you'd be like y'all want to get ted cruz to retweet this shit and then have that shit say like a cat right edited after the fact but they're i guess they're saying they're figuring out like there could be like a 30 minute period and then it'll say like uh you know when the last time it was edited like you'll have a few swipes at it but like a lot of people point out that like considering the mischief that can occur i'm not worth it i'm trying to think of when it is worth it like because because you can delete shit this feels to me like the equivalent of the ninth Star Wars movie, where it's just fan service, just listening,
Starting point is 00:05:51 just getting tired of the people asking for the same shit over and over again and just giving it to them, giving people what they think they want. Babu Frick. Everybody getting mad about the Rian Johnson one and them being like, she is sky walker uh and um she's special because bloodlines are important um and it's all about blood yeah it's again it's something that like i feel like i get the annoyance of it but as and before i was like yeah man fuck you let's get an edit button but
Starting point is 00:06:25 now that i'm like looking and i'm like oh wait a second wait a second wait a second wait a second wait a second right dude is this what we need so i'm sure we'll hear um we'll hear something soon about like how they've actually thought about how it could be misused or it'll be like twitter and they're like who knows man like we'll just let fascists completely abuse this function and you know gaslight the public constantly yeah i don't know i feel pretty good if it's a social media uh platform i feel like fascists won't abuse it yeah yeah yeah they have they don't know how to use it hey speaking of uh fascists uh pedo pedo hitler is trending hashtag pedo hitler yeah uh pedophile hitler is i think i'm doing the math on that right last week week or so joe biden's been stuff i was like come on man these guys are like kind of fashy huh like and people were like yo how could he say that and
Starting point is 00:07:21 then again he was basically saying like yo this MAGA set is a danger to democracy. You know, basically observed something and then... The people who are trying to overthrow the most recent election. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Brought weapons to the Capitol. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Crazy statement. The viewers of that speech who were on the right
Starting point is 00:07:41 really latched on to a few things. First was like the backdrop where the podium was had like red lighting so they're like it's look he's a satanic fucking groomer and it turned into this satanic panic shit and then this became a popular hashtag on the right because joe biden said yeah these people are fucking dangerous. How do you pronounce that? Hashtag pedo Hitler? I don't know. Pedo, pedo, depends on where you are
Starting point is 00:08:12 in the world. Yeah, that makes more sense. Hashtag pedo Hitler. Pedo would be if you're in the UK. It's a thing I'm going to have to learn to say. So I better get it right. Look, they were probably glad they could do like put all of their panic into this rather than like watching their own godhead leader
Starting point is 00:08:32 have just mourning meltdowns on payless twitter right right yeah i mean like do we think that they are because the red lighting was ominous yeah like which like dark brandon bro any any like satanic panic side glow that he can catch off of uh you know what the implications and what the right is saying about him it would be like the cool thing for him to lean into that i don't think he's capable of that but i don't know it are his handlers maybe like let's uh make it look like he's coming to us from the belly of the church of satan as he like comes let's come up with a real good yeah hey put these we're gonna edit laser eyes onto you as you give the speech and then we're gonna give you a the fucking infinity gauntlet to wear surround him in the trappings of coolness because he is aggressively old and
Starting point is 00:09:28 as we'll talk about on Tuesday's episode, just a pro cop, old school, barely holding it together. It's just held together by cobwebs and duct tape at this point. Alright, $3 dollar ticket this is something that a lot of people were bringing to my attention i almost got to go see jaws on the big screen last night i've never it's my favorite movie i've never seen it on a big screen before bro you know we should do yeah another screening because you can do it you can request old movies
Starting point is 00:10:05 yeah let's do that and then jack you have to stand at the front of the theater and act out the whole fucking thing that's the only way i watch is for you to fully just dominate the film performance another thing i was talking about and this hurts me but another thing i was talking about on a tuesday's episode i was talking about uh i will be talking about on tuesday's episode we actually haven't recorded yet i just know what i want to talk about uh the fact that i mean a cab also goes for chief brody and yeah that's yeah like all every every movie protagonist is a cop in the 70s and 80s you're like slow walk
Starting point is 00:10:48 to radicalization you're like bro ACAP also means Brody and they're like yes he's fully yo thank you man you fully put you put the cop away let's face it it probably means Dreyfus too
Starting point is 00:11:04 he's an ocean cop. Anyways, that's not exactly related to the fact that Jaws is on IMAX right now. No, no, no. But $3 tickets is the nation's theater chains wanting you to spend a day at the movies this weekend. And more than 3,000 theaters will be participating in the first ever National Cinema Day on saturday september 3rd you get three dollar tickets any three dollar
Starting point is 00:11:31 tickets for anything imax 3d um this we make fun of like national popcorn uh appreciation day. National cotton candy taken like a suppository day. But this is a national day that they're just making up that I fucking love. I think it happened because the owner of Regal or Cinemark or one of them in the UK
Starting point is 00:12:00 did something similar and a ton of people came out. Add to the fact that we're in a heat wave in certain i don't know if it's the entire country but certainly in our neck of the woods three dollars for a couple hours in air conditioning day yeah right that's not that also that'll work that'll work too but yeah i think anytime you make things like reasonably priced i will i'll have no issue with that because you know like right now if you want to see an imax movie it's probably 25 bucks or some shit you like make it an event
Starting point is 00:12:31 and like bring out older movies like from you know if they if they have like all the movies from the year then like people save up to like try and hit them up like that i could see this being a thing it feels like it could have legs if it doesn't get fucked up by the forces of capitalism. So great work, capitalism, on this one. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult.
Starting point is 00:13:08 And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high-control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In 1982, Atari players had one thing on their minds, Sword Quest.
Starting point is 00:14:08 This wasn't just a new game. Atari promised 150 grand in prizes to four finalists. But the prizes disappeared. And what started as a video game promotion became one of the most controversial moments in 80s pop culture. I just don't believe they exist. I mean, my reaction, shock and awe. That sword was amazing. It was so beautiful. I'm Jamie Loftus.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Join me this spring for The Legend of Sword Quest, a podcast about the fall of Atari and the disappearing Sword Quest prizes. We'll follow the quest for lost treasure across four decades. It's almost like a metaphor for the industry and Atari itself in a way. Listen to The Legend of Sword Quest on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This summer, the nation watched as the Republican nominee for president was the target of two assassination attempts, separated by two months. These events were mirrored nearly 50 years ago, when President Gerald Ford faced two attempts on his life in less than three weeks.
Starting point is 00:15:15 President Gerald R. Ford came stunningly close to being the victim of an assassin today. And these are the only two times we know of that a woman has tried to assassinate a U.S. president. One was the protege of infamous cult leader Charles Manson. I always felt like Lynette was kind of his right-hand woman. The other, a middle-aged housewife working undercover for the FBI in a violent revolutionary underground. Identified by police as Sarah Jean Moore. The story of one strange and violent summer. This is Rip Current.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Available now with new episodes every Thursday. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Substance use disorder and addiction is so isolating. And so as a black woman in recovery, hope must be loud. It grows louder when you ask for help and you're vulnerable. It is the thread that lets you know that no matter what happens, you will be okay. When we learn the power of hope, recovery is possible. Find out how at startwithhope.com.
Starting point is 00:16:23 Brought to you by the national council for mental well-being shatterproof and the ad council and we're back and third poll is trending yeah um this is this is in reference to what's happening in pakistan right now because there's been just catastrophic flooding uh and many are pointing out like just how not only is this region like susceptible to climate disasters like in the form of like monsoons and heat waves but also it has the most glacial ice outside of the poles like that's what like some people refer to as the third pole because of the amount of glacial ice that's in the mountains. And just looking at the melting ice also poses a huge potential disaster in the form of this melting water pooling into small lakes that can then burst and endanger even more people, millions of people.
Starting point is 00:17:25 Currently, because of the flooding right now in Pakistan, they've lost about half of their crops have been washed away. A third of the country is underwater because of the flooding. And I think you couple this with the fact that the country is only contributing around, I think, less than 1% of the world's emissions. You start to see this picture of what many people call climate change apartheid looks like, where countries who aren't even responsible for the heaviest emissions are bearing the worst brunt of climate change and these disasters. And it makes it much easier, I'm sure, for people to kind of get into this mindset too, well, that's happening over there. But that's the thing I think many scientists keep trying to sound the alarm on. I think most people understand at this point the disaster the potential disaster that were
Starting point is 00:18:09 the disasters that we face because of climate change we've caused we don't even like face them in the future we've caught in experiencing now yeah you know bunch of children were like displaced from their homes from this flooding were sleeping on a roadside and just died from this and that's being caused by the fucking oil companies that you know caused over half of climate change and hid the signs on climate change like that's the that's the shit you need to keep in mind when you know like those people need to be put in prison or fucking Hey, like the, Oh, 100%.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Yeah. That's it. It's, it's, it's, it's so fucking criminal and they quite literally are crimes against fucking humanity, uh,
Starting point is 00:18:55 at that point. And you know, I, I, you couple this all with like a very white media that is like, Oh yeah. And that happened there. Like it's,
Starting point is 00:19:04 I think maybe until it happens in like western europe something like so bad i mean even like fires were bad enough where they're like oh my god italy that's kind of freaky right moving on never mind never mind never mind right it's uh it's you know i'm sure the italian fires were like more important to uh some of the people like the new york media complex than like california fires well there was like a story i remember that they're like giorgio armani saved people with his yacht from like a fire oh my god and it became a story about turn that into a movie it's dunkirk meets uh the extraordinary weight of massive talent right um
Starting point is 00:19:42 it's just wild like that even in a story like that, it's like, well, do we have a fucking consumer culture hook into this climate? Exactly. Like Giorgio Armani's fucking yacht. Dude, that is so tight. Meets the end of... Which is the disaster movie where it ends with a big yacht?
Starting point is 00:20:00 Is that 2012? Oh, I haven't seen that one. Deep Impact. It ain't Deep Impact. I haven't seen either of them i just know about movies from reading reviews deep it must be 2012 because i remember deep impact when taylor leone is goes up to cape cod or whatever just to get washed away by that big tidal wave powerful powerful that's right all right well uh pay less twitter's trending yeah google is officially blocking the app from its store yeah hell yeah google they're saying the content might be like yo i'm still not showing us that this isn't anything but like a weird watering hole for extremists to just fire off violent shit all the time and there's no moderation so they're
Starting point is 00:20:46 like yeah yeah yeah this is blocked you cannot download this apple i don't know what's going on over there what y'all doing i believe i guess they wouldn't make a statement about it but they fucking should be forced to yeah i can i mean just why not just fucking get rid of it you know yeah but i think this is now i think it's putting a lot of pressure now on apple to remove it but who knows i mean everyone's in the can for fucking wealthy fascists on some level so they may be like hey it's really important to us for a free speech company or apple it's underrated that like trump got blocked on twitter or got banned on twitter and like facebook and all the like only when it was clear that he lost the election that was then they were like hey yeah this guy's a jerk right yeah so it's you know it's only a matter of time until
Starting point is 00:21:42 does apple know he's gonna win in 2020 yeah and they're just like uh we until... Does Apple know he's going to win in 2020? Yeah. He's like, I'm going to remember you, Google, Apple. Every American now gets an Apple phone. They're great patriots. That's truly like... I could see that being... That is a dystopian future that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Oh, yeah. Is that everybody gets an iPhone and he calls them apple phones because he doesn't know what an iphone tim apple thank you big supporter tim apple but but but like that is enough to secure the vote because that's all we all we care about let's focus on right now where he's a sweating mess and he's just talking about how where are the good agents that are going to turn up on my behalf. Is he still asking for the FBI to revolt?
Starting point is 00:22:27 He had a fucking whole other meltdown this morning, too. It's literally nonstop. The mornings, he just has these fucking mind melt sessions. But it's wild because he says all this stuff, and it's barely getting echoed back into the mainstream gop stuff like it used to like i think they're having to really be like okay how are we going to split the energy between appeasing this old man and also like trying to somehow eke out an election even though we have all this rat fuckery in place yeah they got a lot on their plates right now. The Crown. We're still
Starting point is 00:23:08 awaiting season 5. I'm assuming season 5 is going to be the story of Diana and her passing and all that. Do you watch The Crown? I started watching from the season before like when we just been when they just introduced diana so what is that four yeah yeah yeah because the other shit
Starting point is 00:23:33 i'm like yo i already know about this shit when she's like a child and is basically being like wooed um yeah so anyways they've announced that the young prince william and kate middleton have been cast for the sixth season now we're still awaiting the release of season five yeah eagerly we are royal watchers here um that's not true i don't give much of a shit no i just want to see if they make prince William like a fucking loser. That's the thing I liked about that last season. These people fucking suck. Charles is such a dork. It's true.
Starting point is 00:24:11 It is one of the... Doing a long-term prestige TV show, you have great actors playing these people, and they manage to still make them unsympathetic, which is great but just by using the the reality of their situation i love that i love that and i just like that episode where he thought that he deserved to be oh i guess it was prince philip but he deserved to be like talking to the guys who had just come back from the moon really fucked me up when he was like, I'm a great man too.
Starting point is 00:24:45 They were like, huh? They're like, shut up. What the fuck are you talking about? Nobody ask you shit, Philip. Sit down. But yeah, I don't know. I just like because it's like the, it's just the UK version.
Starting point is 00:24:56 You're like, fuck these people. Like, let me show you what these people are really like in a very dramatic way. Yeah. I feel like there's, I feel like a behind the scenes look at prince william and kate middleton would be revealing yeah to those of us who are huge huge fans where's arie though when's arie gonna be mate um hopefully has a massive role
Starting point is 00:25:19 prince harry massive role mate like it uh just laughing at the fact that if i ever found myself in the same room as him i would be forced to say that exact thing right right prince harry prince harry massive mate absolutely Prince Harry, massive, mate. Absolutely. You know my friend Miles. That's a pretty similar. I'm telling you, when I see things, I feel like I can manifest them. Like, I'm going to hang out with Prince Harry before I pass. That's just, I know it can happen. I know it can happen.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Giving myself a lot of time. Okay. But I just feel like at a certain point, it's going to happen. I'll be like, you know it's fucking wild and he's like yeah we got the same birthday i'm like you know you knew let me stop you right there mile let me stop you right there mate because we've got the same birthday in it. Hey, my Sim, I already get in, mate. Oh, wish in one hand,
Starting point is 00:26:30 huh? Shit in the other. Hey, you know what I'm saying? Yep. This guy gets it. up first. All right. Well,
Starting point is 00:26:37 that has been an episode, a trending episode. We're back on Tuesday with the whole ass episode of the show yeah till then have a great long weekend yeah uh be kind to each other be kind to yourself get the vaccine don't do nothing about white supremacy and we will talk to y'all on tuesday and shout out labor
