Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's basketball. And on this new season, we'll cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio apps, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:57 The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Zite Eyes Trend Tower. Whoa. Yeah, we added a little bit there. Okay, Mr. Improv. Even more appropriate. Great. I like Zite, aka right there, off the dome of one Miles Gray.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Hello, you are Miles. I am. And you are? I'm Jack. Oh, great to meet you. It's great to be met. So, yeah. We are at the point in the week where I can't be brought to give a shit about most of the stuff that is trending.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Yeah. I mean, it happens when you have a week full of sifting through nonsense. But these ones are good, Jack. These are good, man. These ones are depressing, man. So up top we have, it is what it is. All right. That is how Russian state TV is talking about the prospect of everyone dying in a fiery nuclear war.
Starting point is 00:03:04 the prospect of everyone dying in a fiery nuclear war. We're all going to die someday, said Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of RT, while TV anchor Vladimir Soloviov added, at least we'll all go to heaven. Who's to say this isn't hell, folks? Who's to say this isn't hell already who's to say this isn't hell already right now you know has russian turned the corner that much that they're like ah we will all be in heaven together i thought i thought they were like yeah i mean that usually was like the one thing that was
Starting point is 00:03:37 helping people with the cold war be like they don't know they think this is it right so let's see what's funny look our boy vlad boy Vladimir Solovyov popping up again. We'll talk about him tomorrow because the FSB thwarted just a maniacal assassination attempt on him. But thank God he's still around. And then Vice's headline was like Russian state TV really on a normal one here, folks. line was like russian state tv really on a normal one here folks um it's just it's just funny to like watch the end of the world through like shitty internet speech speak uh you know if if anything millennial voices deserve to be the last thing you hear is the earth dies we had we we had nothing so give us this let us be the voice of earth death uh but yeah i don't know
Starting point is 00:04:28 i feel like this is like a the other reason too is they always pump they're always talking about nuclear war that it's truly become the boy who cried nuclear war and now nothing's being taken seriously at all and it's it's just a very i mean it's a very slippery slope because on one hand while there's enough to say like there's no way he'd do it the levels of like approvals to really begin to launch like tactical nuclear strikes is like there's someone who could get in the way it's not just him that's involved but that it we're only seeing him putin like just say the weirdest shit in an increasing rate like completely denying reality uh and leaning more into this thing of like oh we can strike quick just so you know and
Starting point is 00:05:11 you're like you know folks we don't know what version of a person you're dealing with here like what is he what's he even thinking right now i have no clue why is he still sitting at all those tables why so much speculation about his health? But yeah, freaky. I mean, worry. I'm concerned. Like, yeah. Is he get that man better medical care? He's got some.
Starting point is 00:05:33 I mean, he needs to be healthy for that trial. Yeah. Me and Tucker are on the same page on this one. Did Vladimir Putin ever say Daily Zeitgeist was a shitty podcast no has he ever called me a racist no and that's the worst thing that can happen so
Starting point is 00:05:52 Ben Shapiro oh boy who might be the small alien that like pilots the ship that is Tucker Carlson oh wow like in Men in Black yeah he went that is Tucker Carlson. Oh, wow. Like in men in black. Yeah. That's just a thought.
Starting point is 00:06:08 Um, he went, he loves to debate, debate. Yeah. Coward. Fine. Debate me.
Starting point is 00:06:12 You coward. Um, is kind of, is the version of him that's in my head. Fuck me. You coward. Wait, what?
Starting point is 00:06:21 I'm sorry. Pay attention to me. Uh, you have a medical disorder so he went to debate some college kids um i gotta say i was ready for a gymnasium uh with like a handful of people there but this motherfucker is like selling out big uh auditorium like this oh yeah was well attended and fully with people who are there just to like tell him to go fuck himself i would assume um probably not fully but at least partially um and he's he he is like a debate kid. He's like, he knows the Gish Gallop, like the Gish Gallop. That's an old hat to this young man.
Starting point is 00:07:11 This student, I think he's at Iowa State, just very, was very clearly like, I'm just going to speak directly to what conservatives do when they talk about anything that the left is doing, which is just take a point. Yeah, so he called him out on this. Yeah, completely obscure it, redefineine it and then have the other force the other person to redefine the thing that you've completely misnamed or mischaracterized and then just like and you see what's going on
Starting point is 00:07:35 this guy was very steadfast i mean like no we're not doing this and this is it's i'll play about a minute of this because it's it is interesting to watch that Ben Shapiro clearly, he has difficulty in speaking with because his tour is part of like the few America cannot survive without the death of wokeness or something like that. And this person's like, what? You're not even defining what wokeness even is like you're doing this just to create outrage. And so if the idea is that history has consequences, of course, that's true. That's not that is not what is what wokeness suggests is that fundamental institutions in American society are so... No, it doesn't. I ran Elizabeth Warren's campaign. I helped organize her volunteers around here.
Starting point is 00:08:33 I am a representative of wokeness. True. And that's just... This is all it is. I mean, I... You know, when I went to go get my first tattoo, the guy had lightning bolts and 88s tattooed on his neck. And as a Jewish person, that's really messed up. So it's basically a threat.
Starting point is 00:08:57 There are there are racist people who exist. The argument that you're making and I'm going to close with this because this is going in weird directions and I don't really know. No, it's not going in a i don't really want to get well now it's time for me to respond because i let you say okay i'll let you respond but no no not by now's my turn you you are not characterizing what i'm saying accurately now now it's now it's my turn your your your definition is inaccurate the reason your definition is inaccurate is because any sentient human being would acknowledge that history has consequences. Right.
Starting point is 00:09:27 But if the idea is, but that's not what woke is. And then he goes on. Woke is a different thing. Woke is to suggest that all inequalities of today. He really, at a certain point, the guy just keeps, he's not, he's like, no, no, you're, you know, you're, that's not what it is. I'm telling you. And he says, he sort of asks the audience. He's like, how come conservatives will never take the definition from the people they're saying are perpetrating a certain thing, what they're actually telling you what's happening. And everyone's like, oh, and he's like, get him, get him out of here.
Starting point is 00:09:57 And then they start covering the mic and the students like, oh, wow, we got free speech warrior over here. I'm being censored right now. oh wow we got free speech warrior over here um i'm being censored right now and it was just interesting to watch him yeah kind of fizzled out because he's here merely when he really just pushed back on the first thing which is like that's not what wokeness is that's you doing that to create a buzzword and a thought killing cliche to get people outraged i'm telling you what it is right now and he you could watch him he's like well i i so now it's my turn and yeah i i would never speak over somebody or try to fit 1 000 words into 60 seconds uh to completely uh overwhelm them so uh my turn and i'm just gonna keep saying it's my turn and whatever he's saying anything um what so was
Starting point is 00:10:41 that crap was that a shapiro crowd like yeah Yeah, that's him on a speaking tour. That wasn't him being like, pull up if you're trying to get some of this fucking Shapiro. It was Iowa State? I believe so. That's interesting. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:11:01 I just feel like if Ben Shapiro is going around selling out college arenas full of college students, it's a little scary, right? But that's just the venue. It doesn't mean every person. And that person who spoke might not have actually
Starting point is 00:11:18 even been a student because you can buy a ticket to an event at a college. You know what I mean? That's true. Either way, I mean, regardless of what that mix of was students to people, I mean, there's plenty of ignorant people to fill up an arena.
Starting point is 00:11:33 Elizabeth Warren! Elizabeth Warren! It's so funny, like, the way they even respond. Like, me looking at Elizabeth Warren is warren is like okay her policies don't exactly go far enough for my tastes or what how the vision i have for like a senator or whatever and these people are like they're like elizabeth warren you know the person who's you know putting bleach on our lawns and stealing all of our pets and then shapiro went on to argue for uh nazi
Starting point is 00:12:08 tattoos is that where where that went i'm assuming those might have been good tattoos right you don't know what that meant yeah you don't you i mean can you do you know how good the line work was i'm sorry the line were you a tattoo just nazi tattoos just not just nazi tattoos just nazi tattoos um kamala is trending because politico uh wrote just referred to her in a headline as uh they tweeted why did kamala take the pfizer pill yeah many people like they're like let me see some let me okay and every time mike pence was up there it was vice president pence you know and he's never called him michael or miguel or mike or none of that oh okay interesting so what's going on here political i think it was a lot of what a lot of people were asking on twitter um why so informal are you trying to you're not trying to
Starting point is 00:13:00 put respect on uh this person's name i mean granted i have again another person i'm not fully yeah uh agreeing with all the time but that's the vice president you know first black woman to be vice president the least you can do is just use the title rather than acting like you're talking about your friend uh but you know this is this is this is where we're at they're asking why why the pfizer pill and i don't know if they're in their mind they're like kamala is like a brand you know what i mean it's a buzzword there's only one kamala yeah but it doesn't doesn't that feels very feels a little it feels intentional yeah it does i mean yeah you you have style guides for shit like that like you don't um right like oh yeah when you get to that when it says women of color says yeah do
Starting point is 00:13:46 whatever the fuck you want man right like jesus um all right let's take a quick break we'll be right back i'm jess casavetto executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Starting point is 00:15:50 without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is Season 4 of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history.
Starting point is 00:16:16 People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game?
Starting point is 00:16:40 And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. Hi, everyone. It's me, Katie Couric. Have you heard about my newsletter called Body and Soul? Taking better care of yourself is just a click away.
Starting point is 00:18:01 is just a click away. And we're back. And Don't Worry Darling is trending. And that is the name of the new Olivia Wilde movie. Okay. With one Harrison Stiles. I don't know if that's his full name. And Florence Pugh.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Yeah. That was the thing Nicole was referencing yesterday. That like goes down on Florence Pugh. Oh, right. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. So this is trending.
Starting point is 00:18:38 They released a picture of them in bed together. Just, of them in bed together. Just being gazing lovingly toward one another with a hint of mystery kind of draped over the whole thing. But so while I think Olivia Wilde was presenting this at CinemaCon, she was served with papers on stage, which is kind of weird uh served with papers from uh jason sedakis
Starting point is 00:19:09 uh i guess they were what what are those called with custody papers not divorce papers custody papers um well it's i mean yeah you're getting served either way so she got served um and yeah i don't know good well she
Starting point is 00:19:27 was on stage at cinema con and like someone rolled up and she's like oh what for me like opens up but like served the papers right there and like is this a script and then i was like oh she's like okay so and so she didn't like say it while she was on stage she wasn't like i just got served but then i think people know she was like oh should i open this right now it was kind of like a moment like that apparently uh this wasn't this wasn't how it was planned i don't know i i guess i don't know if like you're the process server like if it's up to you like when you take your shot right yeah i mean if you're like i feel like she's not like one of the sleazy 80s like private investigators who's always like ducking uh right papers or whatever like a common
Starting point is 00:20:12 congressman mo brooks right right so it seems weird to me that they they would have had to go to these lengths to be like we gotta find her right which i think why some people speculate i'm like is this is a publicity stunt worked on me because i did not i had not even heard about this movie really um well we did because remember it was the demise of sudacus and olivia wild together and that was at that time we're like yeah man she's feeling harry styles but i didn't know it was coming out and like i didn't know um that so so now i naturally said well what was she in the middle of uh describing her movie as when she was served uh and apparently because it looks kind of like a straightforward uh romance romance and uh she said actually uh think more inception the matrix truman show
Starting point is 00:21:09 it's my love letter to the movies that pushed boundaries of ambition um which is intriguing i mean book smart was uh a very good movie and she was like all right you know you get your blank check moment one uh once a career sometimes you might as well go big okay y'all ready for this it's sleepless in seattle mixed with inception the matrix and truman show you ready i mean yeah like yeah yeah i guess so pull it off go ahead um but anyways are they still together Harry Harrison and Olivia I don't think so a sham
Starting point is 00:21:51 yeah maybe hold on let me see their definitive relationship timeline Super Producer Becca has informed us there's been some drama oh my god he's been spotted with Kendall oh drama oh my god they've he's been with been spotted with kendall oh no oh my gosh olivia you had it all you had it all anyway i'm sure uh zeitgang if you're up
Starting point is 00:22:14 on it let us know let us know oh yeah and then ian's like what about devin booker hey man he's not playing right now yeah you know he's on the bench right now in a few different ways uh laura ingram is trending oh my god yeah what what happened i don't i don't know for this sick ass tweet where you just show that you're a fucking just a ghoul who has no heart she tweeted my mom worked as a waitress until she was 73 to help pay for our college, even helped with loan repayment, loan forgiveness, just another insult to those who play by the rules. So a lot of people ask, okay, how long ago was this? Did you let your mom work till she was 73? Because you've been making money for a little bit. I know.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Amazing. what's the timeline here is this a is are you just lying because that's what most conservatives do to make a point um because this only makes you come off as someone who like really doesn't have their shit together right so that would be like into your 40s your mom was still working as a waitress to try and pay off your college loans um so wait wait what happened to you old bootstraps you let your old mom do that why don't you take out the fucking loan i know that's amazing so what she's born in 63 i'm just trying to i'm just trying to put some numbers here trying to figure out her mom's age and that is harder
Starting point is 00:23:46 to google while hosting a podcast than you might expect let's just say for argument's sake her mother had her at we'll call it 25 we'll go back 25 years from 63 we'll call it at 19
Starting point is 00:24:02 what am I saying 25 uh 1938 okay she's 73 2011 yeah she was she was hold on hold on laura hold on laura you wait i had to do quick maths we'll be right back with the ingram angle or whatever the fucker show is called. Right, right, right. Mommy. It's just so dumb. This idea of the people were like, what do people play by the rules? Yeah, guess what?
Starting point is 00:24:34 Slaves also played by rules. They were fucked up rules. Yeah, bad rules. We're trying to progress, you see? And that's part of that is saying the people who come after me maybe have it a little bit easier than i did that's kind of the point it's not how'd that motherfucker get it easier than me who fucking that we can't move forward like that at all if that's how you think but that's how they think she went to dartmouth uh and graduated in 85 so So I'm guessing that that wasn't the same price
Starting point is 00:25:08 that people are paying for college these days. Nah, I don't know, Laura. You know, do you? You know, we get it. Your mom's a hero. And you really left her out there to try on her own. Just do your job, mom. I'm getting the bill collectors are pressing me, mom. You better get back to your do your job, mom. I'm getting... The bill collectors are pressing
Starting point is 00:25:26 me, mom. You better get back to your job. Sorry, Laura. Dream Concert is trending. Spotify tweeted this out. Spotify did? Okay. They said, Dream Concert, go! Alright, settle down, Spotify.
Starting point is 00:25:42 First of all, you didn't even give us the rules yet they said dream concert go exclamation point then venue opening and then you go right then you say go so what is it i'm demanding that you go with an exclamation point you have to say it right venue opening act main act this is how you build your dream concert go venue uh fucking uh the knitting factory the before it shut down because that shit was intimate as fuck opening act uh fellacuti main act uh 1960s or late 60s slime the family the Family Stone. Boom. Wow. And that venue's small,
Starting point is 00:26:27 so you're going to fucking feel that concert. That's what I'm... So this Dream... A lot of people are responding with like Dream lineups of real things. I'm trying to get... I want to... I'm trying to see some shit I've never fucking seen
Starting point is 00:26:37 and really want to see in my life. And there's not much great footage of it for me to take in. Dream concert, go! Oh, man. Yeah. Venue. great dead footage of it for me to take in um dream concert go oh man yeah when i'm thinking uh yeah the the dead thing is a good point you know you know right bob marley would be pretty cool to have said that you got to see bob marley live at any point yeah um uh and um i guess even though i'm not an elvis fan i'd like to see elvis live like when he was doing his thing that people say he was pretty good um or otis redding otis redding that would be really cool wild yeah um james brown like peak James Brown.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Oh, but that's like a seven-hour show. Those shows would go forever, apparently. Hey, man. Like how those Prince shows did. Go that long because he kept the energy up. Kept the ball in the air. Because he was high as fuck. Yeah, but the venue's a good question. 930 Club?
Starting point is 00:27:44 Yeah. Merriweather Post Pavilion yeah let's go with that because I've heard of that before yeah well that was also an Animal Collective album right but it's also a venue
Starting point is 00:27:57 yeah man I can't talk music with you it's too intimidating it's okay you got it I like this so you want elvis and bob marley yeah let's go elvis bob marley um bob marley bob marley is the main main act elvis has never opened before um yeah but you gotta let him know let him know be like look elvis you you got here on the backs of black music you could open for this man yeah yeah exactly um all right
Starting point is 00:28:28 well that that is our dream concert boom all right and we're washed as fuck and we are washed I named a venue that is fucking gone so yeah I've seen like a lot of good concerts at Madison Square Garden that's like a
Starting point is 00:28:44 oh totally fun place to see a concert. Yeah, there's always good, like, you know, you can get good shows at a big venue. For me, I'm just like for the kind of music I want to be like, I want the band, like I want to feel like I'm on top of the band. And like it's the fucking acoustics are so wild that like my ears are blown out. Yeah, yeah. All right. Well, those are the things that are trending on this thursday afternoon we are back tomorrow with a whole last episode of the show uh you can go check out miles and
Starting point is 00:29:11 jack i'm at boosties yeah new episode yeah yeah uh out this morning it's a it's a good one um and we are back tomorrow with the whole last episode until then be kind to each other be kind to yourselves get the the vaccine.
