What's happening, Daniel? What is going on, sir? Oh, you tell me. Oh, same old, same old, baby. Really, you tell me, because I have not been following the trend. I'm just finding out about these McCloskey people. Ah, geez. Mark and Pat McCloskey.

I had the boys by meself over the weekend, so I had my head down in trains and diapers. Sounds about the usual. Yeah. Just for me, even when i'm not around the kids so uh yeah let's talk about uh i guess ms-13 is trending matt gets is trending mark and patricia mccloskey are trending what what's happening all kind of related to the same thing so during a protest in st louis missouri a couple days ago, people were marching through a gated community.

And this couple, the McCloskeys, decided to come out of their homes brandishing a what looked like an M-16 and like a.22 handgun or something like that. And basically threatening people being like, get off our property or we're going to shoot you. And, you know, some things to note. Yes, Missouri does have standard ground laws and they are within their right to defend their property with deadly weapons on the other hand people brandishing laws walking on their property right bingo that's the other thing these people weren't walking on their property they were walking on the sidewalk in front of their house which is completely legal i think another big concern here is from is from people who are guns rights activists and

gun safety advocates, people like our good friend Robert Evans, would look at what they were doing and describe their behavior as awful, awful gun handling. One of the main rules is don't keep your finger on the trigger. Don't point your gun at anybody. These are very simple rules. And half the time that you look at these videos, the dude, Mr. McCloskey, is pointing the gun at his wife. And worse, the wife... Not on purpose, just like incidentally. Just incidentally. Right. Carelessly pointing the gun. Yeah. At one point, she grabs the barrel of the gun too. So here's the thing is that based on nothing, I'm just finding out about this looked looking at the pictures right i feel like i'm

watching a couple's sexual ritual of some sort like that they're like that there's something they're getting out of this that's below the surface because they just like go out there and stand shoulder to shoulder and just start pointing the guns i i don't know. I don't know if they were like shouting things. So maybe it was more hateful. But but it looks like they're like getting something out of it more than just, you know, being menaces. Oh, most certainly. I mean, it's you know, it's these these people are really angry about nothing and are trying their best to show it with these very weird displays of force it's it's sad it's very sad yeah i mean it's the when you look at those gun magazines uh they are people just itching they're like they want somebody to uh break and enter into their

home so bad so that they can use their gun on them. Precisely. All the ads for guns are like, be the diehard guy. Exactly. They're not going to know what hit them when they come for you and your family with this orange assault weapon. It's just, they're itching. Again, I go back to like arousal there's something uh that seems to be uh like deeply uh exciting to them in a in a i don't know in ways that aren't just uh you know like with robert he when he robert evans he when he talks about guns, it's like with a grim sense of necessity.

And with folks like these folks and a lot of the other gun people who are so careless with guns, it just seems like they've connected it to some part of their being that it should not be connected to. People are going to get hurt. uh, being that it should not be connected to. It's gonna, people are going to get hurt. Yeah.

I also think, especially with Robert and also a fellow host of behind the police propaganda, they both describe a reverence and a respect for, you know, the power and the creation and the, and just like the engineering of these devices in general. Like, you know, there it is.

We have spent so much time researching and developing weapons of war that there is something incredibly impressive about how powerful and strong and how much respect these weapons deserve. And to see that, and strictly from like the engineering standpoint, not necessarily from the advertising standpoint, but just like seeing that so disrespected and so ignored all of the safety precautions all of that like they're giving every gun owner a bad name with that kind of image and it's you know it's bad it's bad they suck yeah i mean you should be as reverent towards guns as you are towards human life, because they take human life.

Guns are a button you can press that removes a human life from the planet. It takes a soul. Sorry, but you were saying that there's something with brandishing laws. What is that? Brandishing is pointing your weapon in a threatening manner or handling your weapon in a threatening manner towards someone else.

That is brandishing. And there are laws against that in missouri the the you know the most recent now if the state code is updated in the past like two weeks maybe i'm wrong but for the most recent codes that i can see brandishing a deadly weapon or handling a deadly weapon in threatening manner to somebody is brandishing and it is against the law. And it does not, like it does not fall, understand your ground. If these people aren't on your property. Yeah.

Which they were. But I mean, to be fair, like how are we supposed to expect Mark and Patricia to have any awareness of what's legal and not legal? It's not like, Oh, they're,

they're both attorneys. Oh, wow. attorneys? They had to pass the bar. Interesting. Alright. Yikes. Reddit is trending because it banned both R the Donald,

some would argue that was well overdue, and also R Choppo Trap House, which is a place that i have been and enjoyed on reddit um what's your what's your take on this why why is choppo trap house getting banned is this just like straight up both sides of them i mean i think you know it think it's definitely a little bit of, I think it's a necessary action of all things being equal in that the kind of hate that the Donald subreddit incites is far more straight up on the surface hatred. And I think the kind of hatred that the Chopbo Trap House subreddit incites is similar to, there used to be a subreddit called Punchable Faces. And it was just a subreddit of people people hate. Similarly, there was a subreddit called Fat People Hate

for a long time, where it was simply a place to hate on people who were overweight. And those things, while, you know, they all fall under this category of like inciting anger towards a group of people because of a disagreement of ideals while while the donald like i said is significantly more on the surface it's hard to look at some of the posts on our dropout trap house and think that

they're not inciting violence against people right interesting yeah i i was more much more selective about my use of that and just checked out the occasional post when somebody pointed me i mean most of the posts are just like related to the podcast it's just like podcast reviews and memes about the podcast and stuff like that and so you know yeah and i'm a fan of the podcast yeah i mean reddit in general it bills itself as the front page of the internet. Right. I feel like it's more the front page of the internet that a certain type of white person pays attention to. I mean, I think that's certainly not far off. Right.

It's, you know, as it grows as a community, I mean, I'll say this, it's kind of like defined by what really controls the front front page of Reddit, r slash all, which is the most popular post. And while there are tons of communities on Reddit, there are so many, so many awesome, awesome communities on Reddit. It also happens to be filled with white nationalists, alt-right people, you know, people who are using bots, tons of Russian bots.

If you ever look at any post about Donald Trump, there are hundreds and hundreds, sometimes thousands of downvoted comments or just like deleted comments that are the exact same thing over and over because while it's a site that can't be corrupted with just view botting essentially or botting on mass upvoting stuff.

And so it is far from being safe to the terrors of you know internet trolls and you know people who want to agitate right it is basically the internet it's basically it is basically it is basically the internet and unfortunately people take advantage of the internet a lot yeah uh let's uh join our recurring segment chris roundup who's the number one chris who's the who's dropped in their chris rankings so a couple chris stories jim from the office not a chris but seems like he should be uh but chris pine is that who is uh has become number one, Chris? And our sister podcast host, Dana's estimation? Dana Schwartz.

Indeed, yes, Chris Pine has shot up the rankings. Similar to Tom Hardy's example of being a responsible human being, wearing gloves and a mask to go shopping to buy a delicious baguette, Chris Pine has joined the ranks of incredibly relatable and awesome celebrities by showing up at Skylight Books and coming out with a huge stack of fresh reading material and wearing a mask, making fun of paparazzi in the meantime. It was like a triple threat of, oh, this is a good dude right here. So Chris Pine jumping up in the rankings, taking a fellow Chris, Chris Evans spot. Wow. Your face, Chris Evans. Moving down in the rankings, Chris Nolan, Christopher Nolan. Apparently, Anne Hathaway said that he does not allow chairs on his movie sets because if you're

sitting, you're not working, which is the uh british equivalent of the awful boss if you can if you lean you can clean uh if you can lean you can clean type thing uh very i don't know that it's british i don't want to blame britain for that that's just christopher nolan being a dick like any bad boss you've ever had right right. Or like me to my kids over the weekend. Look, they need to learn to clean up after themselves. I've seen the meat food. You can crawl, you can clean that wall. Wonderful. And then big news, the Supreme Court earlier today struck down the illegal abortion restrictions. legislation that was like blatantly illegal under current precedent in order to get uh other

activists right-wing judges to pass it through so that it could make it to the supreme court with the hopes that our current like far right-wing uh executive branch would have approved enough far right-wing justices uh that they could you know send the country back to the 1950s uh but you know the supreme court supreme court is basically like the opinion section of america uh and in a 5-4 opinion john rober was like, no. First of all, they had just ruled on something I think three, four years ago, saying that this sort of thing would not fly. And he actually had to switch over to the progressive side

to keep in line with that. But now that he's the Chief Justice, there's a little more. He's sort of in charge of the overall direction. And so, you know, conservatives have to be wondering why this keeps happening to them. Like a conservative activist justice

becomes the chief and suddenly they're siding with the liberals. But I assume it's because when you're the final vote, you start to look at what the rest of the society looks like and how it works. I was going to say, the world?

Yeah. How things work? Like, it's... You would have to, like... You know, it would... If he upheld the law, he would have been out of step with the direction that our society and society in general has been moving

like the long arc of the universe as martin luther king jr said so um yeah it's he he did the obvious thing uh but we should be happy that he did because the alternative is horrifying. Um, but, uh, yeah, the bar is so frighteningly low. Yeah. We will at least, we will at least be pleased when that extremely low bar is met. So thankful for that at the very least.

Yeah. I'm thankful for the women of Louisiana who, uh, won't only have one place where they can, uh, you know, yeah. Get reproductive healthcare.

and you know, I'm, I'm sure that like eventually like the, I'm sure the things are still not great for them, but hopefully, you know, this is the first step in a long fight that will eventually make it so that people can't harass them for
