Starting point is 00:02:08 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports. Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Zeit Wein Vinegar. What's that? That is courtesy of, you guessed it, Johnny Davis. I'm Jack. That's Miles. This is What's Trending.
Starting point is 00:02:31 As we record this a couple hours ago, the Kentucky DA announced that they will not be charging any of the police officers with the murder of Breonna Taylor. And instead, one of the three will be charged with wanton endangerment. And it seems like the charges are related more to the fact that they were shooting all over the place as opposed to just shooting the innocent unarmed brianna taylor uh they they were serving a a warrant on the wrong house right yep and uh yeah yeah it's just a mess it's a mess and you know continued failed attempts at getting justice in this country. All the while, you got more fucking dweebs dressing up as super soldiers
Starting point is 00:03:32 and now rolling into Louisville like it's fucking Call of Duty convention or some shit. Right. It's, yeah. It's the very early stages of like, you know, what? Of it coming apart. apart yeah what a civil war would look like i don't know yeah what are you gonna do i'd give people justice you know try and solve the fucking problem or rather i mean because this is the thing cynically right this is the thing cynically, right? This is the kind of situation that the Republicans need to take,
Starting point is 00:04:08 to let the rejection of the results of the election, be the tipping point to cause enough chaos in the streets to give this administration, the sort of justification to answer back with a heavy hand. Yeah. Because it's all piling up. It's not just going to be the election. If things go as bad as they could,
Starting point is 00:04:31 that's going to get people out in the streets. It's the idea of the terror that this entire party has caused, this entire administration has caused, and pushing back against that. And that's going to be mischaracterized as, well, that's why this is an insurrection, and I have to do whatever I can to maintain the peace. that and that's going to be mischaracterized as well that's why this is an insurrection and i have to you know do whatever i can to to maintain the peace and it's just yeah uh it's
Starting point is 00:04:52 it's disheartening and you know it it just shows you that the this administration looks at people seeking justice um as terrorists yeah and i think that dynamic already tells you who's terrorizing who. Yeah. Not that. Yeah. Read about the Rwandan genocide. That's exactly how it goes. The people who commit the genocide are always claiming that the other side
Starting point is 00:05:18 is, you know, doing some manner of terrorism. Meanwhile, they're right wing militias were doing armed vehicle checkpoints uh in oregon uh recently like the other week trying to yeah trying to check if people were quote antifa again a just kind of vague distinction and you know it's it's what uh seemed far-fetched when to a lot of people when robert evans was talking about it in his podcast it could happen here and now it is happening here and it's
Starting point is 00:05:55 a fucking nightmare speaking of which rittenhouse is trending uh because of kyle rittenhouse, the 17-year-old who took his illegal guns across state lines to go murder people who were protesting, murdered a couple people, and then is now being treated on Fox News. They're calling him a little boy who is trying to protect his community. Oh, he's a real, today's Johnny tremaine isn't he wow it's yeah this is but the the reason it's making news is four people have filed a civil rights lawsuit against him uh and like some other people that were involved in some of the militia groups as well as facebook itself yeah Yeah, absolutely. Because they're saying like, without Facebook and these other people coordinating to go down to Kenosha,
Starting point is 00:06:50 we might be looking at a completely different situation. And yeah, absolutely, they should be suing Facebook, as should probably many other people who have fallen victim to sort of this kind of right-wing violence. But at this point, this is specifically they're pointing to the actual coordination that took place on Facebook and why they're being named as a defendant
Starting point is 00:07:12 also. So, yeah. Hopefully they will see justice, but it's hard to tell. Our courts have been nailing it when it comes to placing human rights against corporate rights. Palmetto cheese is trending because people are hungry.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Because fucking Woco or Costco or whatever you call it. Just because the guy who started Palmetto cheese has some off take about the blm movement calling them terrorists or some shit like that oh so now so now costco wants to remove the cheese because blm's a terror wow wow so that's that's what's happening that's uh what this man uh brian henry who's the owner uh wrote i guess on, on his Facebook, which is where middle-aged people go to ruin their careers. So that's that. We got that. So Palmetto is just a trademark for a brand of pimento.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Yes, exactly. Got it. I'm shocked that something named after the great South Carolinian tree would have any kind of intersection with a bad take on race. South Carolina. Come on, guys. I thought we were better than that, South Carolina. Anyways, we do have some great members of the zeitgang in south carolina shout out to you yeah i know they're they're the they're the ones single-handedly giving me good feelings about it
Starting point is 00:08:50 uh-huh um and then rolling stone is trending uh because they decided to give the people something to rest their brain upon uh an argument to rest their brain upon, uh, an argument to rest their brain upon. Uh, they released a 500 best albums of all time list. Um, and I mean, well, one of the articles, uh, that I read was congratulating them because,
Starting point is 00:09:17 uh, black women cracked the top 50. So, uh, wow. Oh, we, we've set a high bar,
Starting point is 00:09:25 which is so funny. Previously, there was such a lack of diversity in the top 50. Right. And it's unbelievable when you look at the albums that they put in there. You're like, you don't know shit about me. You didn't know shit about music if these weren't already in your top 50. How could you ignore half of these right being Rolling Stone
Starting point is 00:09:48 there are no rap albums in the top 10 but yeah I guess the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is a rap R&B album so that that is at number 10 the rap albums that make the top 50
Starting point is 00:10:04 like they have good albums on there. They've got, I think, other than The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Public Enemies, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, and Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which I know is your favorite album of all time, are the top rap albums. Kendrick lamar's to pimp a butterfly
Starting point is 00:10:28 is 19 um that should be higher yes i mean like the top it's interesting to see kind of like d'angelo like look i always talk about how much i love d'angelo's voodoo that's number 28 that that's a top 10 album for me but this is where like you know you fucking like i was telling you i'm like i don't like pet sounds as much as voodoo so voodoo should replace it but also like i was telling you i love i love the making of pet sounds like any stories or documentaries about i'm like this is the fucking sickest album or like i love how they just sort of like threw the playbook away and try to do something different uh so yeah it's hard with these lists it's like a star wars film like it's gonna fucking piss off a ton of people whatever whatever so at the end of the day just make your own list those
Starting point is 00:11:14 are the ones that fucking matter enter the wu-tang 36 chambers is uh in the top 30 uh right next to D'Angelo Lemonade is probably the most recent album that cracked the top 50 yeah um sure yeah I mean they what what are your like on the on the rap albums that made it what's missing what's not high enough like I would say Elmatic's not high enough Elmatic's not high enough I'm not the big like The Blueprint's a good album, but it's not my favorite Jay album. Yeah. So I'm like, okay. The Chronic, I feel like,
Starting point is 00:11:53 and this could be my West Coast slander, but I feel like Illmatic should be above The Chronic. Not to say that it's a better album, but it's my own personal taste. I love that era of new york hip-hop i personally feel like a quam and i should be above all of them and that's my personal i mean look when it got five mics in the source it was a moment and people were like this this a quam and i him and i a quam and i we better check this out uh but yeah we'll see you know what what other
Starting point is 00:12:23 how other people feel i think i'm trying to think of some shit that like a real honestly like i but these are all like old i'm just an old hip-hop head so right i don't know like what i'm like how come most deaths black on both sides isn't on here you know uh and shit like that jay dilla's donuts should be in the top 50 right yeah so we'll never be happy we'll never be happy super producer anahosnia's response to this conversation when we were having it before we hit record was i had to go put a piece of chocolate in my mouth just to survive this conversation yeah um so apologies to anybody who just had to listen to that i guess yeah it felt like they were transported back to a college dorm where some person you're dating you realize you don't want to date them anymore
Starting point is 00:13:08 from hearing them have a conversation with their friend a bunch of a bunch of our listeners just decided they don't want to date us anymore they kept comparing the cd images to an outcast cd called atlians and saying this one has clothes one doesn't. And that was blowing their mind for 10 minutes. Whoa. All right, shit. Well, that is what is trending right now. We hope y'all are doing all right. We'll be back tomorrow with the whole last episode of our show. Until then, be kind to each other, be kind to yourselves,
Starting point is 00:13:42 wash your hands, wear a mask, stay inside, and don't do nothing about white supremacy. We'll talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. Bye.
