Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Crash My Zite on TC, going 100 miles per hour. Found myself upright on miracle status.
Starting point is 00:02:11 That is courtesy of Miles, courtesy of season two of the rehearsal. Episode two, season one, the rehearsal, Nathan Fielder's new show, in which we get to meet one of the more interesting characters. He's on a heater with these first two episodes. We get to meet somebody who's real into numerology,
Starting point is 00:02:37 seeing significance in numbers. Let's see what time it is, dude. 128, dude. Oh, 128. Yeah, 128. I'm the one to eat. This is the one to eat this is the thing to eat it's time i just ate thank you like perfect god's talking to me through the clock anyways we're not gonna get too much into that uh watch for yourself watch for yourself i'm jack that's miles these are some things that are trending joe mansion is trending tested positive for covet yep t's and p's my man t's and P's, my man. T's and
Starting point is 00:03:06 P's. T's and P's out to that man. You know, hopefully you wake up upright on miracle status, bro. That's right. Wakanda Forever is trending. A trailer came out that is the best trailer I've seen in a while for anything. So, okay, I was
Starting point is 00:03:21 watching it. I remember seeing a tweet about how the the teaser or whatever came out of the comic-con weekend i was like okay here we go her majesty has like a superpower to catch me getting emotional at the end of youtube videos that i play on tv like one time she caught me watching like a trombone solo and i was like like had a tear i was like man this solo is amazing she's like what are you watching i'm like this trombone solo is objectively fucking art okay you just caught the last part where people are cheering and then with the wakanda one she walked in right in that last frame where you see a hand just and the claws come out and i was like and she's like what are you what are you doing? I'm like, I don't know. Maybe he's alive.
Starting point is 00:04:08 God off guard. I'm such a kid when I watch these trailers, man. They get me with the way they're cut. Trailers are my favorite movies because, you know, can't beat a good trailer as far as I'm concerned. Did you have a favorite trailer growing up or like a trailer that you still think about you're like that the fucking trailer like shook me to my fucking bones i can't oh clockers spike lee's walkers had uh this uh 70 there's something happening no i forgot what the song was that it like used but it really like blew me away and i was like so excited to see that movie when it came out that it like carried through and i was just like i thought it was a very good movie it wasn't like
Starting point is 00:04:51 my favorite movie but the power of the trailer carried through to me being like yeah that's my favorite movie clockers my favorite movie now uh just like yeah i gotta find that trailer i remember like some classic rock song i definitely heard before but there was like something just cool about the way it was cut together for me uh i would say i have two trailers that i remember for whatever reason very consistently the first one i say for whatever reason was blown away with jeff bridges and tony jones because i think there's like oh fortuna or one of those like overused like classical songs is used and like there's like at the time i was so cop brained and i was like yo the bomb squad is fucking lit uh that trailer and then also just the first matrix one
Starting point is 00:05:38 uh i remember i spent like the first matrix or the trailer for the second one the first the first trailer that came out for the first mate for the first matrix wow the matrix that one i remember being completely just like i downloaded like the mpeg version off the internet took like 70 hours over the course of a month yeah yeah um but yeah shout out to the trailers but yeah the wakanda trailer looks fantastic and it i think this is focusing on Atlantis versus Wakanda. You got the fucking homies pulling up on humpback whales. For whatever reason, I think that's one of my favorite shots. The people riding a humpback whale?
Starting point is 00:06:14 Just like the idea of people just mobbing up on you, but they're pulling up on 70 dudes holding onto a whale underwater and being like surprise motherfucker like it's so dope and it makes me it's something i had never seen before the avatar trailer and then now it's in this like yeah i don't know it's it's wild it might just be one of those uh ideas that was out there it was in the firmament you just had to look at the numbers to see it yeah and then you were like okay 77 the number of the humpback whale and then you've got underwater so it may be a negative number but yeah man and the and the use of all right by kendrick it like kind of emerges from
Starting point is 00:06:57 the song that's playing the whole time yeah very going bob marley to kendrick like that yeah very well done very well done. Very well done. Very exciting. Samantha Bee is trending. Yeah. A very good show. R.I.P. Yeah, after seven seasons.
Starting point is 00:07:13 DBS is like, no more. So that sucks. I felt like that was a great show. And fantastic. Dude, think of Alison Zeidman, a past guest who who would back in the early days would was like writing some stories for us she was she was over there samantha b oh right shout out zeidman you know what i mean shout out homies who are looking for some work
Starting point is 00:07:36 after that but yeah we named the show after her yeah exactly that was the one i think that was one of the conditions she said she's like well i can't work on a show that doesn't have at least three letters of my name in it yeah but yeah a lot a lot of very funny writers sad to see it go you know a lot of yeah i just like wonder if tbs you know is the right network because like i feel like in the tweet that she announced it sort of alluded to the fact that they're like yeah you know because it's not just baseball or a rerun of big bang so thanks for that and i'm like that's true i'm sure you i'm sure you were giving the i don't know how uh how with it with the program uh the higher ups at tbs are but the very least uh got some good good do they do they make other do they make other original material like Like other original content? I mean, I remember when they were making
Starting point is 00:08:25 all the Tyler Perry shit for a while. I don't know. See, that's how far away I've drifted from what is on... On TV. I have no idea. Broadcast TV. No clue.
Starting point is 00:08:36 The last OG. Oh yeah, the last OG. That's right. And Chad. Look at that. All right. Let's take a quick break. We will be right back.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Say goodbye to another good friend. Leah Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Starting point is 00:10:21 And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Sanner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career. Without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:10:55 I'm Keri Champion, and this is Season 4 of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Why is that? I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black.
Starting point is 00:11:29 I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:11:51 The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. This summer, the nation watched as the Republican nominee for president was the target of two assassination attempts separated by two months. These events were mirrored nearly 50 years ago, when President Gerald Ford faced two attempts on his life in less than three weeks. President Gerald R. Ford came stunningly close to being the victim of an assassin today. And these are the only two times we know of that a woman has tried to assassinate a U.S. president. One was the protege of infamous cult leader Charles Manson. I always felt like Lynette was kind of his right hand woman. The other, a middle-aged housewife working undercover for the FBI in a violent
Starting point is 00:12:36 revolutionary underground. Identified by police as Sarah Jean Moore. The story of one strange and violent summer. This is is rip current available now with new episodes every thursday listen on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts and we're back and uh the Choco Taco is apparently going away. Yeah. You're familiar, right? This isn't like a local thing. Like everybody knows the power of the Choco Taco, I believe.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Yeah. It's one of the best Choco delivery systems, I think, that's been invented. It feels like if they're putting this down, somebody needs to hurry up. Taco Bell just needs to jump on this shit immediately. And be like, we're also an ice cream store now. Like, surprise, motherfucker. Yeah. I mean, right now, I don't know if there's an official announcement.
Starting point is 00:13:35 But a lot of people were saying that they're catching wind that Klondike, who's the manufacturer of it, is like, oh, it's getting discontinued. So I don't know. We'll see how real that is and if it's it's getting discontinued so i don't know i we'll see what how real that is and if it's gone for good but if it has been discontinued then that's a big yikes for the fans of the waffle you know taco crust or what am i looking for a shell with the chocolate and vanilla ice cream and then dipped in chocolate big yikes for me klondike yeah as well as my two yikes for me klondike sorry yikes yeah that was my go-to off the ice cream that and the screwball so the screwball is the non-chocolate option right screwball is like the pink ice and one that had
Starting point is 00:14:17 a gumball at the bottom right in that like cone plastic that is a trend i was noticing is that the young kids like weren't as into chocolate during trick-or-treating since we have hundreds of people come through our house during trick-or-treating. Wait, shut the fuck up, Jack. Shut the fuck up. Wait, what? They don't like chocolate?
Starting point is 00:14:38 As much. I noticed the younger kids being more into gummy and fruit candies and chocolate kind of taking a back seat. And so I remember suggesting that maybe chocolate was kind of going away because maybe they've always been raised on this inferior version and the knowledge that it uses child slavery. And maybe that's just made chocolate less popular with uh with young people i don't know but and then would this then be part of an overall trend away from chocolate uh we we can't know i stand with the choco tacos and the and the kids like me who would be like to be like where's
Starting point is 00:15:19 the chocolate candy like honestly that's whatever you know times are changing the kids know more than we do so you know take over kids fine fine do whatever you want with your shitty world with your shitty no chocolate world all right so the brazilian election is coming up uh there is a leftist leader that is like way up in the polls over Bolsonaro. And Bolsonaro has responded by kind of taking a play from the Trump handbook and being like, I think the election's already rigged. But somehow the electronic voting system in Brazil, which has been used without controversy since 1996, I think it's vulnerable to being hacked.
Starting point is 00:16:03 And just already putting doubt on the outcome of the election because he's losing by so much. Well, yeah, because it's like Lula da Silva's got like 47% and then Bolsonaro was like under 30% and that's when he's like, ah, this is all rigged.
Starting point is 00:16:20 It can't have anything to do with who I am. Right. But it's wild too because there's also been like assassinations like some of lula's like yeah top orders yeah supporters or uh top like even election officials have been assassinated like bombs people being shot at um just feels like straight up a authoritarian government trying to take over and overthrow democracy in one of the largest countries in the world and definitely in the Americas. And I don't know, just the coverage, it made me kind of take a beat and be like, so is this how like the rise of authoritarianism and
Starting point is 00:17:07 fascism would look in the united states is just like they just don't cover it really they're just like i don't know when i when i went back and like looked at what has already been happening i was like oh why isn't this like front page news this is crazy they're basically already waging a civil war based on his bad polling numbers and like i feel like it's just being covered as like man like his supporters are crazy it just i mean i don't i think the you know in general the media here is like what right-wing violence i don't know what that is yeah you know, right wing violence against people on the left. Hmm. Sounds like a disagreement.
Starting point is 00:17:48 I don't know. Like, I feel like you're not the reporting about it. Like in the U S isn't as like, uh, giving people the full picture as it might. Like when you read about it elsewhere, that's kind of looking at all the dimensions of a story like that.
Starting point is 00:18:01 Yeah. All right. And finally, Hulu is trending. So apparently the Democratic Party was trying to run some political ads ahead of the midterms on some of the central themes
Starting point is 00:18:15 of the Democratic midterm campaign, including abortion, guns, the January 6th attack, and Disney basically refused to run them. I'm guessing it's like, it seems like it's based on the idea that like they're too politic politicized the disney owned company disney owned yeah i'm sure yeah they get their marching orders from the mouse but yeah this has been like a thing going back and forth where there have been a few candidates who are like i want to put an ad on streaming because that's
Starting point is 00:18:49 where i'm going to get to more younger voters like putting that shit on broadcast television isn't as effective for me um that was siraj patel and this is in new york and they kept they kept saying to him that it's like there's's this policy we have. They're like, oh, is it written? They're like, it's unwritten about sensitive topics. They're like, what the fuck is that? It's an unwritten policy. Then how could we know how to navigate any of that shit? So you're not allowed to talk about abortion or guns.
Starting point is 00:19:18 You're just allowed to use them to kill people or to overthrow people's right to bodily autonomy like that right and i think that's what's really alarming is like you have a corporation now stepping in to say don't tell people about what they're what's at stake for them in an election like there's nothing deceptive about what they're saying and i think that's where we're now starting to see how ill-equipped you know corporations are because Cause they used to both sizing shit all the time. And now like objectively Democrats like, well,
Starting point is 00:19:50 they just overturned reproductive rights doing nothing about gun control. There's quickly eroding voting rights. Those are measurable and true. And they're like, you know, despite a little sensitive for, you know, we want to obscure those moments, really. I just feel like we might be seeing
Starting point is 00:20:08 lines kind of clarify a little bit. Bolsonaro is getting a bunch of support, like, openly from Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Carlson's actually going on Fox News and being like, yeah, there's
Starting point is 00:20:24 voter fraud down in this Brazilian election that hasn't happened yet. And, you know, just like backing him, giving him a lot of support. Trump is openly backing him. And so I guess it makes sense to me as corporations don't know which side is going to emerge victorious in the next you know after the midterms and then in the next presidential election and so they're going to treat both sides like they have valid point and like we can't count on corporations to uh take the right side here they're taking watching the sidelines and yeah they're they're trying to pick like a horse to bet on. I don't know, fascism or not doing much. We'll see which horse wins.
Starting point is 00:21:09 But gotta see, gotta see, gotta figure it out. It's more angst to throw on the angst fire, for sure. But again, I think this hopefully inspires more people to be a little more critical of like how like you know the media operates and what they're ingesting too because yeah i mean you look at something like disney too they're already trying to walk a tightrope to keep like the gop from fully being like everything they make is groomer content right so and you know also like we want our special tax districts too that it's like they put their chests out first with the you know, also like we want our special tax districts to that.
Starting point is 00:21:45 It's like they put their chests out first with the, you know, sort of opposing the don't say gay bills and then very quickly. Right. But that also might be part of the strategy, probably is part of the strategy on the Republican side is like that. Disney is opposing you on this one made up issue that we've completely invented that they're groomers so that they feel like they owe you one when it comes to get to make good. Yeah. Get to make good on that one. That's the call. Yeah. Well, we shall see.
Starting point is 00:22:22 Those are some of the things that are trending on this Monday afternoon. We are back tomorrow with a whole last episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. Bye.
