It's kind of a bummer day. It is seconds that day after the death of Kobe Bryant. People were saying to me on social media they were looking forward to seeing how we deal with his complicated legacy. We'll get into it a little bit more on tomorrow's show,

but I think at least I can speak for myself. The way I've been dealing with it is watching videos of him and his family and videos of people reacting to his death on field and off, to quote Mayor Pete, watching highlights of his game. Yeah, I can't really bring myself to read much about it. It's fucking brutal. I mean, yeah, there's no – I've seen so many takes on the internet about this.

Yeah. takes on the internet about this yeah i i can own the the overarching theme for me is just such a tragic loss of a life i don't it's not just limited to kobe bryant and his daughter and it's there there's the pilot there's other families who are going to be affected by this in ways that i hope no one would ever have to experience yeah but as humans, you feel like you know people. I feel like I've known Kobe most of my life. I can remember when he came into the league and I was still in high school and just being kind of blown away by him

and growing up with him, watching his game evolve. Yeah, so just as a human being, you know, you can't help but feel that loss kind of impact you because you feel like you know these celebrities. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. It's just terrible.

It's awful. I just look at the amount. I can't even get over the Alta Belli family. They have a mother, father, and daughter all together. It's just not pleasant. Let's move on to other news that is trending right now. Ken Starr is trending because he had some opening remarks. That he was like coming after himself?

Kind of. He was basically like warning against like the abusing impeachment as a tool. I mean, next thing you know, we're going to be going after presidents for everything. For like oral sex or something. What the fuck? I mean, he's not the only person on the president's defense team. Why would he be the one that they chose to make that point? Right. It was weird because both people, like the people who gave opening statements,

they sort of dunked on themselves where you have Ken Starr being like, oh man, like, is this even right? Is this abusive? And you're like, hold on. You did the exact same thing. Are you coming after your old self here? Right. Not to mention. Gemini Man. Ken Starr starring in Gemini Man.

Right. And even think of, like, the shit when he was at Baylor, too. That when he was a president of Baylor, like, hiding all kinds of sexual assaults. Yep. He's had a pretty awful track record. That's what he was doing in between, right? Yeah. Yeah.

And it was just, most people were absolutely amazed at how he completely contradicted himself from 21 years ago. Was that what it was? 1999. Yeah. Okay. That's right. Quick math.

Quick math. So yeah, I think that was, and then Pam Bondi goes up and talks about corruption. Meanwhile, I think people, she has like real big ethics things hanging over her head too. So it was almost like people being like, the thing I've done, I'm also going to talk bad about. Right. And that's our defense. Yeah. Is that a good defense?

I have no idea. I mean, I guess because most people's response is just absolute confusion slash like laughter in a confused way slash sadness being like, oh, these people are just. But when they're talking about how bad our defense is, they're not talking about how guilty the president is. Right. Boom. 7D chess. Impeachment is hell. It divides the country like nothing else is what Ken Starr says. Like nothing else except for this president. The guy, I'm pretty sure his own ethics lawyer at the time when he was special counsel was resigned because they're like, you're really trying to make a meal out of this thing in a way that his ethics lawyer was like, this is you abusing the impeachment, the ability to impeach.

But this is where we are because they have absolute, their plan at this point is just to shrug and be like, nah, this is just a game, especially coming off the heels of the John Bolton stuff. Yeah, and they have compared that to, somehow they're comparing it to the Kavanaugh thing. They're like, these drips and drabs of leaks, we're not going to fall for it. But yeah, just nothing on the substance of the allegations or the evidence that the president actually did what they're accusing him of.

Oh, it was his ethics advisor when he was a special counsel resigned. Basically telling Starr directly, you have violated your obligations under the independent counsel statute and have unlawfully intruded on the power of impeachment. You can't write this stuff, folks. And half of Americans say the Senate should vote to convict and remove President Trump in a new Fox News poll that was released. And independents, too, are now crossed over into the removal category as well.

Yeah. But, hey, it looks worse and worse for them every day something else comes out. Who else is trending? Chris Wallace? Who else? Chris Wallace, yeah, from Fox News. While we're on the subject. Again, so John Bolton comes out, or there's a manuscript of his upcoming book out, and it says directly what the whole scheme was.

The president instructed me to keep freezing the aid until they cooperate with investigations into Democrats like the Bidens. That's what he says. That's what he attests to. And that's what I think they want his testimony for. So this has caused so much wheel spinning on the right. Like, you know, they have senators. They're asking in the hallway and they're acting like this is not big news at all. Oh, it's nothing.

It's not everyone saying it's nothing. Chris Wallace from Fox, he was like one of the few voices out here being like, this is really big. This is really significant to have, you know, a lot of people are arguing. We're hearing things from people who aren't eyewitnesses or who weren't speaking to Trump directly. Now you have the national security advisor saying that this did happen and is willing to testify and they don't want to. And he says it looks really bad. At a certain point, one of the people that was co-anchoring with him started doing some talking points.

And he got visibly frustrated and told her to get her facts straight. And Brett Baier had to come in and be like, oh, okay, come on, let's tone it down a bit. Right. It's all about decorum with them now. Yeah, exactly. And the whole thing was just sort of, you could hear even how shaky in their voices were when they were trying to defend themselves to Chris Wallace is being like very blunt. Like, no, this is this is significant. And like, well, no, because the thing is, you know, nerves are flying a little bit.

But I don't know what that means exactly, because if there aren't votes in the Senate, then what's it all for? I mean, always keep in mind that when they when the right accuses Democrats of something, a lot of the times it's the thing that they're most guilty of. Democrats of something, a lot of the times it's the thing that they're most guilty of. And being a snowflake is one of their favorite things to accuse progressives of. And man, they are, as Dave Chappelle would say, brittle, brittle spirits. Let's talk about Google Docs. They were down. Elsewhere, I guess? And Google Drive. Yeah, in the U.S., some other areas. I mean, we work off of Google Docs. Everyone on Twitter was like, what the fuck happened to Google Docs?

I mean, it shows you how much. Everyone on Twitter. Well, because there are so many all caps, fucking exclamation points. I think because Google is our Lord and savior, we do all things through him. Yeah. Um, and that shows you when shit goes down.

I, in a way I was like, damn, I think, uh, it shows you how reliant people are on Google because once that goes down, there were people who were like, I have my job to do.

Right. And it's based on here. Yeah. Google docs, man. Back to pen and paper y'all. Yeah. Shit.

Or just back to sending things back and forth over email, which is wolf. Could you imagine putting our show together over email? I mean. It would be nonstop people sending email. I don't even want to think about it. That's what we used to do with the pitch doc for Cracked. It was an email chain? It was an email chain it was an email chain wow every week little boy yep uh let's talk about jayden smith tyler that those three words are trending yeah

uh did you watch the grammys by the way no i was yeah i had too much going on. So after Tyler, the creator, won a Grammy for Igor, Jaden tweeted, my boyfriend just won a Grammy. Jaden has tweeted things to this effect before about Tyler. And yeah. People are like, what? Yeah. I think the most interesting thing happening from tyler creator winning um for igor was he was basically saying like this best urban contemporary album shit he's

like it's the diet n-word like right calling this like what he's like the album was not rap right it was on some he's like it could have been a pop album right but there's this weird thing it's like okay let me see uh well if you're black you're probably doing r&b or hip hop yep and even if you're pushing the the genre outside of its boundaries from from starting in a place like that it's like the the the nominating body is too rigid to acknowledge it for what it is and i think that was probably the the biggest point that I took home from all of that. Because that was a pretty good album. It was funny in the...

It is a really good album. Justin Bieber, like in the comments after the first time that Jaden said Tyler was his boyfriend, Bieber was like, I thought I was your boyfriend. And then Jaden was like, you know that you are. So Jaden could just have many boyfriends. Right.

I'm Jaden's boyfriend too. Okay. That would be dope. Let them know. If Jaden and Tyler are together, that would be a dope couple. Power couple. Pretty good album, I'd say.

Yeah. I just have to pat myself on the back a little bit. Every time I see articles about this, they keep using the same still from a video that I made with Jaden Smith like two years ago when i worked for vanity fair where it was this video called uh jayden smith blows his own mind and shit i remember that video i didn't know you made that oh yeah yeah i made that shit in like 10 minutes when he was doing a photo cover uh magazine cover shoot and i was like here's the concept and he was like this is great this is great he was a legitimate

half when in between takes he would be like yo that is the concept. And he was like, this is great. This is great. He was a legitimate half when in between takes, he would be like, yo, that is the most cool thing I've ever heard. It's like, unbelievable. He's a really sweet guy. Yeah. Yeah. Credit to him and trying to save the world with his water. Uh, the Grammys in general, I only watched, I only turned it on for like 10 minutes, uh,

in between just watching sports center over and over again. Uh, and, uh, I caught Tyler's performance and it was pretty dope actually. in between just watching SportsCenter over and over again. And I caught Tyler's performance, and it was pretty dope, actually. The Grammys, I go back and forth. Sometimes I'll see a Grammy performance, and I'll be like, all right, this is the closest that you get to performance art in mainstream culture,

to performance art being on one of the major networks Because they really like go in on the presentation, but then they're so whack about it Yeah, they're so like well Frank Ocean should listen to us. He fucked up his performance like And like just very I don't know up there on asses about about the performances that it very i don't know up their own asses about about the performances that it kind of annoys me every time i see them doing the most with their uh presentation but tyler's performance was uh pretty dope puff daddy also said a thing i think it was clive davis's pre-grammy party he got some kind of like lifetime achievement award and was just like to be honest um the grammys don't really know how to recognize like

achievements and like from black artists right they just don't yeah and it was kind of like weird it's like oh okay right and he's like and that ends today i guess but yeah the sentiment remains i mean there's so many times you like look over how these album of the year nominations work and other times you're like sometimes they you can't believe what they're picking. Yeah. Yep. I mean, the industry in general has a long history of that sort of. Good Kid, Mad City lost to a Daft Punk album for album of the year.

What? Which is unbelievable. Like, I don't even, not to, no shade at Daft Punk. They did what they did, but that album they made compared to Good Kid, Mad City, doesn't even fucking compare. What's the great album that lost to Steely Dan? Oh, it was the Marshall Mathers album. Oh, damn.

The Lost to Steely Dan. Anyways, that is what is trending right now. The Lakers-Clippers game was just canceled for tomorrow night, or postponed. So shout out to everybody in both of those families who are going through some shit right now. Yeah, and everybody, all the loved ones, all the people who passed away.
