Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, the internet, and welcome to the Zeit Stalker, Richard Ramirez. That's courtesy of Miles Gray, right before we started recording. My name's Jack O'Brien. That's Miles Gray. The Zeit Stalker, Richard Ramirez. I don't know. Look, this is what happens to us towards the end of the day. Yep. This is the mini Daily Zeit Geist, where we talk about what's trending currently on social media. Yeah. Social media.
Starting point is 00:00:28 And trend. And trend. Googles. And Google. Googles. Man. Woo! Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Let's start off with Fiona Hill. Yeah. Fiona. Top trender of the day. Yeah. What'd she do? Well, you know. Who's that?
Starting point is 00:00:43 She went to Capitol Hill and told the truth. Any relation What'd she do? She went to Capitol Hill and told the truth. Any relation to Hank? No. But someone did on TV, I think it was CNN or MSNBC, mistakenly called her Fiona Apple. Which makes sense because let's be real, there's only one Fiona. Every single night.
Starting point is 00:01:00 What? What is that? Every single night is a Fiona Apple song. Didn't realize the rhyme. Direct rhyme. That's how slow my brain is. But yeah, she is, you know, was the top expert on Russia and Ukraine for meddling in the elections and also reprimanded a lot of the – well, not reprimanded. Just gave a stern warning to Congress about like be careful about the things that you say because a lot of them make their start in the Kremlin. Right. You're parroting Vladimir Putin talking points. Yeah. And, you know, obviously massively important testimony. But as you will hear us say over and over again, I think we get it now. Right. What's next, though?
Starting point is 00:02:00 Yeah, we get it. And it's either support for impeachment. It's either plateaued or is going down. So, yeah, Devin Nunes, I don't know how concerned he's going to be about the fact that he's parroting Vladimir Putin talking points. Well, he's already looking so weird from, like, there's that other story, Lev Parnas was helping him out investigate shit in Europe. Like, it seems like even the people who are up there trying to cover this shit up, or at least- Are also shit stained. Right.
Starting point is 00:02:31 They're involved. I like how you put respect on Devin Nunes' name, even though it's not, there's no tilde. Oh, it's not Nunes? No, he like America. Nunes? He's like, Devin Nunes. Representative Nunes. Fuck that guy. He's like Devin Nunez. Representative Nunez. Fuck that guy.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Anyways, I don't respect him, but I respect- Respect the name. Respect the name. The brand. I just, I like to add a little- Little flair. Little flair to words that don't even require it. We get it, bro.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Just to let you know that I've been this big. That I've studied abroad for three weeks. Studied abroad in Ireland. Oh, that's right. We've talked about this. Yeah. And I did study abroad in Spain for a month in high school. Oh.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Yeah, high school? High school. Damn. It was pretty dope, actually. Madrid. Where? Madrid. Oh.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Yeah. That's how I pronounce that. Wow. Doritos. MSNBC fears Yang is trending on Twitter. Mr. Linguaje Cateano over here. Wait, he fears that MSNBC fears Yang. MSNBC fears Yang.
Starting point is 00:03:40 So this is based on last night's debate. Oh, speaking time? Yeah. When you break down speaking time, it's pretty stark. He got a total of six minutes, 43 seconds. Elizabeth Warren got 13, 23. Buttigieg got 12, 44. Biden, 12, 35. I mean, it's roughly, you know, Yang Gang says that he's in fourth or fifth or sixth or seventh or eighth or ninth in national polls, like some national polls. But, you know, he got less speaking time than Tom Steyer. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:04:16 And Tulsi Gabbard, who is just a Russian plant. When he spoke, he had some pretty good. Andrew Yang? Yeah. I mean, he was talking his shit. Yeah. which is interesting, too, because it's interesting. I see why a lot of people are interested in him because he does have a very up-to-date view on technology and what that actually means right now. blind spot where they like acknowledge that it is something that's coming up uh but also not taking seriously like that that is a future many other people are going to have to face whether that's dealing with you know these nearly monopolistic companies uh automation etc but
Starting point is 00:04:56 yeah yeah it seems like he's uh the new what's that guy uh ron paul Paul. He's made for the internet. Yeah, I think he's better than Ron Paul. For the internet, by the internet. Okay, maybe he's better than Ron Paul. I think he's the new Tulsi Gabbard. Does that make sense? I think he's Andrew Yang. Andrew Yang, first of his name.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Yeah, he didn't get to speak. They didn't ask him a question First of his name. Yeah. He didn't get to speak. They didn't ask him a question until 32 minutes in. Right. Steyer was what? 29, I think. Yeah, 29. Because I remember watching it and like when he finally spoke, I was like, oh yeah, that guy.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Right. Oh, right, right, right. Oh, yeah. So yeah, I get the frustration from Yang Gang and MSNBC. I mean, he does also seem like he's dealing with the same stuff that Bernie supporters are, that Bernie is, where he's not a traditional candidate. He doesn't have the centrist bona fides. And because he's even further back, it's easy for them to ignore him.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Yeah, it's hard to ignore Bernie so much considering how high he's polling. But yeah, I think it's easier for them to sort of rationalize why they've not given him much speaking time. But also, this is the problem when you have 9,000 people on that stage. Right. What was it, fucking eight? Yeah, eight people. And 14 total, I think, or no, 10, I think, right? Were there really?
Starting point is 00:06:27 I mean, there's only one way to know, and we can't possibly do that math right now. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. One, two, three, four, five. There it is. Meteor shower tonight? Yeah. Depending on where you are and what time you're hearing this,
Starting point is 00:06:41 meteor shower tonight. Yeah. Depending on where you are and what time you're hearing this. If you're like, basically, if you are East of Texas or like at the Eastern, most part of Texas, if you do a straight line over to the rest of the East coast, you may see a meteor shower tonight.
Starting point is 00:06:58 Basically, if you start listening to this right when you download it, look up now. Yeah, now exactly. Hurry. We're talking about 400 to 1000 meteors per hour possible depending on the visibility and where you are uh this was this was predicted
Starting point is 00:07:12 uh by two i guess renown yeah renowned meteor scientists um and yeah depending on where you are you can you might catch a very very brilliantburst, as they call it. Last time it happened, 1995. Oh, wow. Yeah. That was a great year for meteor showers. Great year for meteor, great vintage. Yeah, great. One of the best.
Starting point is 00:07:33 I don't think I've ever seen a meteor shower. The one time I saw a meteor was at a summer camp or something, and I was just looking up, and I saw it, and then no one else saw it, and I kept insisting. Like a shooting star? Oh, is that what that is? Yeah. What's a shooting star? A meteor.
Starting point is 00:07:47 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's like a meteor burning up. Right, right, right. Just a little streak across. Yeah, yeah. In my mind, I was like, wait, is it a star that's shooting across the sky? Yeah. And then going to its next spot?
Starting point is 00:07:56 No. That's a meteor burning up in our atmosphere. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which someone would have told me that then. And I'm not finding this out right now in my old age. There is a shooting star in Jaws uh at one point and really yeah and I was always like huh I wonder what that like symbolizes like as a kid and it was just they happened to catch a shooting star oh that was
Starting point is 00:08:17 just an organic yeah into in the actual sky right after the uh shark attacks the orca as they're telling drinking stories about shark attacks. I read the USS Indianapolis story from Quint. And then the shark attacks the boat. They're all freaking out. And then the shark goes away. And they're just sitting there. The boat's sitting there. And they do a wide shot of the boat.
Starting point is 00:08:42 And you see a shooting star across the sky. This has been a verbal recap of Jaws. Of a scene from Jaws. Anyways, Joe Biden's stutter is another thing that is trending. There's a new profile that points out that he has
Starting point is 00:09:00 had a lifelong speech impediment and that a lot of the stuff that he gets shit about is caused by that, and it's a profile, I think, in The Atlantic written by a writer who has had a lifelong stutter, and so they kind of have an ear for it, and they're always kind of looking out for that sort of thing, and they noticed that he seemed to have like that sort of speech pattern
Starting point is 00:09:29 just in listening to him publicly speak. Interesting. And now they're like, this is the first time, like Biden wrote about it in a couple of his memoirs. But he's never like really spoken about it in interviews so this is the first time that that is happening well you can't play you can't blame your terrible takes on legalization and the me too movement on the stutter right folks that's but yeah I mean I think that's in that's a good thing to know yeah for sure um and finally Luka Doncic. Yeah. This dude.
Starting point is 00:10:07 He's a- He's the real article, huh? He's the genuine- Genuine article. Yeah, so he was a rookie last year in the NBA, had an outstanding rookie season, but- Was he a rookie in the NBA? It was unclear. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Right? I believe so. He deserved to be if he wasn't, but- Yeah. Yeah. if he wasn't. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:27 And he, you know, it was unclear if he was going to be, like, a very good player or a great player, and this is his second year, and he's just, like, jumped up a level, and he's, you know, contender for MVP. He just had his second 35-point triple-double in a row. Wow. He did it in 27 minutes, which is the fastest anybody's done it. And he is the youngest player to have ever had consecutive 35 point triple doubles. Wow. So yeah, this dude, like he's worth watching, even if you're not a huge basketball fan, because he does some things
Starting point is 00:11:00 that you really don't see anybody do like nobody since LeBron witchcraft yeah no like I don't trust it and also if you've seen his mom like there's something going on with that family yeah like there's well people were evil
Starting point is 00:11:19 shit people were fell in love with his mom I think even before he got into the league yeah his draft night people people were like, wow, Luka Doncic's girlfriend is so hot, and it was his mom. This is my mom, everyone. Yeah, leave me alone. I'm so sorry. This is Doncic.
Starting point is 00:11:36 But he has this step back three that covers half the court. It's pretty incredible. You think any, I mean, I always feel like European players, they move differently. Yeah, he definitely does. And I think, I wonder if that is on top of his being just a really great athlete. He's already operating physically in a different way.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Or his movements are informed differently. I don't know. That's what I always think, because I'm always like, I love soccer and basketball so much that I'm always like, I wonder how much that those cultures overlap yeah
Starting point is 00:12:07 like Pau Gasol's ball movement reminds me a lot of like one touch passing right like in soccer wow okay I've been paying attention Miles wow wow okay amor
Starting point is 00:12:23 alright that's it right those are the things that are trending yeah anything else we want to talk about um no all right i don't know yeah let us know if you want to talk about something we're back uh tomorrow morning with another episode of the daily zeitgeist uh have a night. Watch out for those meteors. Yep. Kisses. Beso.
