He means that shit for real. He's gonna eat them all. I saw a photo of him eating a fucking hedge fund manager's leg. This guy means it.
Starting point is 00:02:33 We'll get into Zoran Derangement Syndrome on tomorrow's episode. My name's Jack O'Brien. That over there is Mr. Miles Gray. But yeah, just the straightforward. Just fucking hook my veins up to this Zoran win. But yeah, yeah, just the straightforward just fucking Hook my veins up to this Zoran win. Oh God please is the most Enjoyable night on cuz you didn't even have to like feel like it was just just felt good Yeah Like one of the things like I'm pretty sure what I think people need has appeal, right? Yeah
Starting point is 00:03:06 And then you see a campaign saying over and over like yeah, that's the the the thing like everybody shocking The the the headlines are all about how you like stunned cuomo and shocked the world. Um It's just like I don't know the the popularity of socialism has been pretty clear. Like for, since like 2008 really, when you think about it, like Obama basically ran on socialist ideals. Ideals, it wasn't necessarily, it wasn't the kind of thing that anyone would be like,
Starting point is 00:03:37 this guy's a socialist. Yeah, the vibes were like, hey folks, we could have more. I think terms and conditions apply. It was just like, yeah,, we could have more, I think. Terms and conditions apply. It was gonna be- He was just like, yeah, he handed the implementation over to the neoliberal forces. Oh yeah, we got some ideas. Barack, why don't you let us handle this Medicare
Starting point is 00:03:54 for all thing real quick, this Obamacare thing. But then an 80 year old socialist from Vermont almost beat fucking Hillary Clinton. Like, you know, so not a very popular person, but again, like Andrew Cuomo is like a political dynasty who's unpopular. And again, like it just shockingly, and that was 2016.
Starting point is 00:04:17 That was like before people had stopped having brunch because of how things, how bad things were. This was always gonna have appeal when you live in a capitalist country like this, where people are discarded without thinking, you know? And I think that's just kind of, we're now at this point, because you know, we've always been talking like, well, it's going to happen in general. And I think like, honestly, that's not a silver lining, but with Trump in office right now, it's made it painfully clear to people that
Starting point is 00:04:46 the too many people not everyone maybe not enough people but too many people are like yeah man this old way is fucking that's an L what turns out these people don't know what the fuck they're talking about and they are not even talking to us and like our needs and then here comes someone with a socialist platform and they're like yeah yeah yeah yeah i can i can get jiggy with this one um because i don't know what happens if kamala won the election what is that maybe not because that allows people to be like very strongly driven by the kamala harris loss and just you know, the, the, the Kamala Harris campaign, I think where these ideals like we're testing well. And then she just like tacked right and right and right and right until it was like, wait, are you running George W. Bush's 2004 campaign? Yes. And then it was
Starting point is 00:05:41 wildly unpopular. And it was just like such a transparent, fuck you, to like what people actually care about. Like that's what I feel like just the nihilism that people felt on the like 2024 election night. Like I think that's like a big part of this where people are like, it's not that. Like we can now say for sure, like Biden had that run that was basically people responding to being in a like, I feel like the vote for Biden was like, the equivalent of like tapping out in an MMA fight when you're like in an arm bar, or just like anything to make this Trump administration stop. Yeah, was how it doesn't matter. Yeah. And then it didn't work for the reasons that like so many other like neoliberal like it's just like the system is like, they're coming in being like, we're
Starting point is 00:06:36 going to fix the problem caused by this system that we are. Yeah. Right. It's just like, well, that doesn't really work that well. This machine needs to be unplugged. They're like, well, what if we like turn the volume really low on it? Right. No, no, no. You have to.
Starting point is 00:06:50 This this thing has to stop because it's not rendering good results for people. And again, I think more than anything, because obviously this is just a Democratic primary. This should let this should tell Democrats. This is what your base is looking for. This is what they're not looking for some rehashing of the good old days when they in fact were not that great at all. I mean maybe they're looking for rehashing of the good old days as in mom Donnie quoted
Starting point is 00:07:17 FDR in his victory speech and I've the most popular and successful American president of the past hundred years, who was basically like a socialist, like in many ways. And like, again, it's just like, it's so obvious that socialism is a political winner, that like to not know that at this point, you have to be actively trying to not know that fact. Of course, yeah. Or you're actively, you're just diametrically opposed to anything that renders even a sliver of equity for people. Yeah. Because yeah, that's what, and I think it shows too, that all of these people who were like,
Starting point is 00:07:59 who were against Mamdani, the way they're reacting to it, it sounds like the white racist people in the summer of 2020 when people like, we need rights, like people like we need to acknowledge the humanity of black people and over policing. But if we acknowledge their humanity, then don't I have less humanity? Like it's a zero sum game. And now they're suddenly like, but if if this guy is talking about equality and bringing price down, like what about the landlords?
Starting point is 00:08:24 And then it's just so fucking like we've we hear it over and over and over again but again, I think just the old ways just aren't as effective as they used to be just generally and they're really susceptible to looking like dog shit when you juxtapose it with someone with the kinds of like dog shit when you juxtapose it with someone with the kinds of platform that Zorin did and the campaign that he did where he's like actually engaging people where they're at and talking to them and being a fucking human. Yeah. So now we just sit back and watch how the mainstream media tries to destroy him and
Starting point is 00:08:57 his campaign. I don't know exactly how it's going to play out, but it's coming for sure. You know? Yeah, I mean, who knows? It's like anything, maybe they dig up some weird oppo and fucking try and make a scandal out of something or they completely ignore him and completely emphasize everyone else in the race for people who maybe aren't as savvy. I think they've lost that option at this point.
Starting point is 00:09:22 They can't really- They might try though. I think they've lost that option at this point. Can't really ignore him after he just like, after they're all just like, he's stunned the world, you know, like the, but one interview that's making the rounds is him saying that he would arrest Netanyahu. So they're trying to, you know, make it, I think connect that with the things he said
Starting point is 00:09:41 about the global infantata, infatata. Intifada. Intifada, infantata. Intifada. Intifada. Infantata. Infant toddler. It's an egg dish made out of infants. But anyways, I don't know. It's common.
Starting point is 00:09:55 I do just think like, let's bring them all in. Anybody who wants to join the broad tent, because it seems like there are a lot of people from the center left who are like, oh, well, this seems popular. And it's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, it is. It's gonna like, this is the only way forward for the party. And like- Jared Sussman Not really a fan of the landlord stuff, but- Jared Sussman I just think it could be nicer to landlords. Jared Sussman Might be okay.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Jared Sussman So, it'll be interesting, but it felt, felt good to just feel like we lived in a real country for the first time. What the stakes were. But again, it's a democratic primary. Let's, let's hope, let's hope, keep the momentum to November. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and he's going against Eric Adams, which is gonna be both I feel like You know, he's got the better positions and also Eric Adams is hilarious So he's gonna I mean in a debate I can't the way he fucking cooked Cuomo. Yeah in a debate I can't wait for Eric Adams who he has like the wit of
Starting point is 00:11:02 Someone on like a dial-up modem trying to fuck him like play live stream gaming or some shit. He's like, he's I don't even know. I don't even know where that's going to go. But he's not going on behind his eyes. Yeah. All right. Other big news. Liver King has been arrested for threatening the conservative Joe Rogan. So we've all been talking about the need for a liberal Joe Rogan. Don't forget about the conservative Joe Rogan, the actual Joe Rogan, who lives in Austin, because he just got fucking threatened by one of our greats. So I do have to just quote the New York Post real quick, because they didn't put this in the headline because it wasn't front page news. But the article opens, his beef went bad.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Oh, okay. Disgraced influencer, the liver king. Then they talk about how he's known for lying about where his muscles come from. It's not steroids. To me, eating this bull's testicle every day. Bull's not steroids. It's me eating this bull's testicle every day. Bull's testicle. It's not the $11,000 a month steroid regimen that I'm on. But he apparently filmed a video where he threatened to fight Joe Rogan and had guns on him. So I think things are going well on the right.
Starting point is 00:12:23 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Good for them. Good for those too. Work it out, folks. Work it out, fellas. It's the collab that we've all been waiting for. There's your Barbenheimer. That's right. That you've been looking for.
Starting point is 00:12:34 All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. Over the past six years of making my true crime podcast, Hell and Gone, I've learned one thing. No town is too small for murder. I'm Catherine Townsend. I've received hundreds of messages from people across the country begging for help with unsolved
Starting point is 00:12:56 murders. I was calling about the murder of my husband at the cold case. I've never found her and it haunts me to this day. The murderer is still out there. Every week on Hell and Gone Murder Line, I dig into a new case, bringing the skills I've learned as a journalist and private investigator to ask the questions no one else is asking. Police really didn't care to even try. She was still somebody's mother, she was still somebody's daughter, she was still somebody's sister.
Starting point is 00:13:23 There's so many questions that we've never gotten any kind of answers for. If you have a case you'd like me to look into, call the Hell and Gone Murder Line at 678-744-6145. Listen to Hell and Gone Murder Line on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Jeff Perlman The summer of 1993 was one of the best of my life. I'm journalist Jeff Perlman, and this is Rick Jervis. Rick Jervis We were interns at the Nashville Tennessean. But the most unforgettable part? Our roommate, Reggie Payne, from Oakley, sports editor and aspiring rapper.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Jeff Perlman And his stage name? Sexy Sweat. In 2020, I had a simple idea. Let's find Reggie. We searched everywhere, but Reggie was gone. In February 2020, Reggie was having a diabetic episode. His mom called 911. Police cuffed him face down. He slipped into a coma and died. I'm like thanking you,
Starting point is 00:14:22 but then I see my son's not moving. No headlines, no outrage, just silence. So we started digging and uncovered city officials bent on protecting their own. Listen to Finding Sexy Sweat on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And here's Heather with the weather. Well, it's beautiful out there, sunny and 75, almost a little chilly in the shade. Now let's get a read on the inside of your car. It is hot. You've only been parked a short time
Starting point is 00:14:55 and it's already 99 degrees in there. Let's not leave children in the back seat while running errands. It only takes a few minutes for their body temperatures to rise and that could be fatal. Cars get hot fast and can be deadly. Never leave a child in a car. A message from Nitsa and the Ad Council.
Starting point is 00:15:13 We are telling our scientists today we have disdain for your expertise. And then you have China as an exception saying actually we're going to invest a trillion dollars in new science. Yeah, you heard that right. While the U.S. is cutting billions from science and public health, China is making historic investments. That means here in the U.S., fewer breakthroughs, slower medical advances, and a serious risk of falling behind globally.
Starting point is 00:15:37 I don't think anything about that is efficient. I think that it is actually profoundly inefficient. As she would know, Chelsea Clinton is using her expertise in public health to break down what these cuts really mean and why protecting science isn't just smart policy. It's a necessity. This week on Dope Labs, we're putting it all under the microscope with Chelsea Clinton, diving into what's at stake for science, medicine, and our future. Listen to Dope Labs on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:16:15 And we're back. We're back. And yeah, we're back. Some oaf sat on a Picasso chair last week. Mm hmm. Some oath sat on a Picasso chair last week. I just people need to look this video up. Anyone who was raised right or is raising a child right at this moment, you will fucking do a backflip in anger watching this. A fucking adult at a museum just be like, yeah, I can sit on this fucking thing. And then the leg just comedically goes, like this fucking just gives out underneath him. And he just tries to fuck off with his wife.
Starting point is 00:16:51 He'd be like, just fucking go, just fucking go. Go, go, go, go. You can like hear that even though it's just a closed circuit so you can't hear the audio. You can just hear them being like, go, go, go, go, go. Yeah. And they walk out and like, have they been arrested yet? Was like, how is this?
Starting point is 00:17:05 Oh, I don't know. The Van Gogh chair. Yeah, I don't know. Let's see. Reportly white Americans. How have they not been? This was from last week. There's this Italian museums plea.
Starting point is 00:17:15 So they, oh, maybe they're just saying for people to respect art. Let's say they have notified police about the pair who have not been identified. How? How? Come on, y'all. Come on.
Starting point is 00:17:26 These people need to pay for that. So they walk up, they walk into a room. There's a Picasso there. Or it's a Van Gogh chair. Oh, sorry, Van Gogh. There's a Van Gogh there. Did Van Gogh build furniture? Maybe that's our problem.
Starting point is 00:17:40 The chair was built by an Italian artist, Nicola Bolla, and is bejeweled with crystals. It is named after Vincent van Gogh as a tribute to the Dutch artist's painting of a simple chair. Got it. So they sat on a janky Swarovski covered chair that was called a Van Gogh chair. What's wild is their fucking little placard that goes next to it that tells you like the word, like, you know, the backstory, whatever. It's just fucking on top of the chair. Like you have to be like, yeah, dude, this ain't for fucking story, whatever. It's just fucking on top of the chair. Like, you have to be like,
Starting point is 00:18:05 yeah, dude, this ain't for fucking sitting. Yeah. What the fuck you talking about? It's pretty, like anything that is like bejeweled, I would think. And it's also not a thing where they like mistook it for a chair in the museum. No, they knew, they were fucking around taking pictures. They were lining up
Starting point is 00:18:22 for a picture. Yeah. He was getting his picture taken by his wife In the museum. No, they knew. They were fucking around taking pictures. They were lining up for a picture. Yeah. He was getting his picture taken by his wife when the chair fell to pieces under his. Yeah, because I think his wife goes first and she got her arms out like she's balancing. She's like, I'm not going to really put my ass on this thing. And then his dumb ass really tried to get low with it, like the yin-yang twins, and then boom, both legs came out. Oh
Starting point is 00:18:46 so Brian the editor points out he was hover budding and Then yeah, whatever lost his lost his balance You hate to see it true. I call a fame of behavior. What's the over under on those people being American? Oh my god it's that and then distant, distant second would be Australia, right? Aussies? I don't, yeah. I can see some Aussies. I just know them as being really like loud and drunk whenever I travel. But yeah, it could be. Definitely a former colony of the British.
Starting point is 00:19:30 A lot of people talking about the fact that Top Gun Maverick predicted Trump's attack on Iran. It. Well, hold on. What it predicted it. Yeah, dude. It's like straight up. OK. So when he was on the Maverick, you haven't seen Top Gun Maverick.
Starting point is 00:19:40 No, I don't give a shit about that. Oh man. It's such a good movie and it like does the job of getting you ready for this so that you're already like inclined to be rooting for it. Oh, it's an inoculation. Yeah. Movie through film. So the two big reactions in the mainstream media and online were, uh, you know, global condemnation and comparisons to Tom Cruise character because the mission in Top Gun Maverick was to bomb a uranium enrichment
Starting point is 00:20:14 site housed in a mountain region in an unnamed foreign country that was underground. And like they talked about like collapsing it and like a lot of the details very similar Matt Gaetz was like I want to know who at who at Top Gun Maverick knew the future who at Top Gun Maverick knew the future I don't know who at crackle bear cracker barrel knew the future. Are you fucking stupid? You know why it's not that even it predicted it This has been of like one of those ominous weird foreign policy threats forever And also the Navy is you know the co-producer of the film, you know At least informally. Yeah, the Exactly like this is this movie in particular like the time we at the time, both Top Gun Maverick and Top Gun, the original, were basically funded by the Pentagon.
Starting point is 00:21:14 So that's the only way you get to play with those planes. They're like, OK, we get to have notes on this. Right. Like, oh, yeah, fine, fine. But you get to, well, you can use all of our killer toys. Yeah, there aren't many aircraft carriers going around that you can just like sub in to shoot your movie on. You need basically one of the real ones.
Starting point is 00:21:36 And so if you're going to make a movie about flying off an aircraft carrier and doing dangerous mission with like, I don't know how many millions of dollars these fucking planes cost. If you want to use this, you better be hooray rah-rahing the American empire. Yeah. They don't name Iran. They just say that they're trying to disrupt the uranium enrichment process of a company that poses a threat to allies.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Okay. very vague. If they do get nuclear weapons. So that would eliminate Russia, China, North Korea, and then the mountainous nature of, you know, makes it pretty clear. And then like also the defenses, like some of the defenses in the movie, they scramble F-14 Tomcats. So that suggests Iran. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:28 So people are like, who at Top Gun Maverick knew the future? It was made with the full support and cooperation of the Pentagon, as was the original. So you could view it as not an act of magical seeing of the future, but rather of predictive programming or propaganda that valorized an attack on Iran to the masses before it happened so that, you know, to manufacture consent in advance. Yeah. I think another detail people should know is you want to know how Iran has F-14 Tomcats? We gave them to them in the 70s. That's right. Bad news for fans of M3GN, the robot who serves Cunt. Yeah, M3GN 1 was good, right?
Starting point is 00:23:14 M3GN 1 was good. People were fucked with M3GN 1. M3GN 2.0 is about to drop on all of our asses. And here are some of the headlines we're getting. on all of our asses and here are some of the headlines we're getting. M3GN 2.0 is exactly 0.0% watchable. You'll be shocked by how bad M3GN 2.0 is. Is that just like a reference to that robots run on electricity? And so it's like, you'll be shocked. Very small wonder coded and three again 2.0 review killer robot girl gets new foe but no upgrade and take well I don't know. I will say I'm still holding out hope because first of all the first one was not like good
Starting point is 00:23:56 This is just like fun. No, I guess it was pretty good But one of the few favorable reviews did call it hyper camp dumb funny unexpected mashup of Terminator 2 judgment day and mission impossible Which is actually not necessarily what I'm looking for right from this movie. But anyways, well, I guess there's like they They're just making a lot of people saying it's real tick-tock ready. It's like so campy to just be memed out and I'm like, oh A lot of people are saying it's real TikTok ready. It's like so campy to just be memed out. And I'm like, oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:24:26 Just like watching TikTok, but like not being able to be like, all right, I'm tired of this one. Let's move along. I gotta do a baile funk dance right now. All right, well, Brian, the editor will be able to report back because he's going to see it this weekend. Thank you, I'm freaking.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Thank you for your service. Mm-hmm. That is gonna do it for this Wednesday, June 25th. We're back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other, be kind to yourselves, get the vaccines while you still can, get your flu shot, don't do nothing about white supremacy, and we will talk to y'all tomorrow. Bye.
