Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. This is the Dunluba tour show with the Stugat's Podcast. On the first play, Kenny and Charles and Shaq wouldn't shut up about college football atmosphere never seen anything like it. We all want to put on uniforms and play and their season ended on the first play. Before we get to that though, I want to spin the wheel of issues because a lot of people are very interested today. Brad Williams has fallen out of the sky,
Starting point is 00:00:47 a comedy legend, a giant in comedy. Giant, good words. I think that's accurate. Brad Williams is straight. Are you okay? Very trickered right now. I don't know if I'm okay. I didn't sleep last night.
Starting point is 00:01:01 The so-tell is right next to the arena, there was parades going on, someone had a pickup truck with a basketball hoop on it, a random five on five started happening in the middle of the street. Welcome to Miami. So I'm here on the day to be the voice of the fan to calm you guys down,
Starting point is 00:01:20 so it's not all Miami talk all the time. We've got a couple of different issues here to attend to. Greg Cody Tuesday is here. We've got a lot of different issues here to attend to. Greg Cody Tuesday is here. We've got a lot of people here. It's very crowded with a whole lot of people haven't talked for four days. Many of them who spent a half the week
Starting point is 00:01:32 and haunted with a hole in their stomach because the worst loss in the history of South Florida sports, tens of a second left, you shouldn't care like that about anything. You do. You're a fool. It's the wonder of sports. But for two days, you lost all life perspective. You're a fool. It's the wonder of sports. But for two days, you lost all life perspective. You're walking around with a hole in your stomach because Boston's going to laugh at you all off season because you're the first to go and lose after being up 3.0.
Starting point is 00:01:54 And it wasn't just that they were going to laugh at you. It was Boston was going to laugh at you. And we haven't had that feeling around here in general, the fear and all of it in about 10 years since the very beginning of what LeBron did. Total insanity, fear, pooping themselves. Parakeet Cortez, I saw, I saw from an investigation that your avatar was going to move to a panthers hat. A panthers hat immediately. None of you believe they were going to win that game.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Mike is sending out tweets. None of you. Mike is sending out tweets saying the season is over. You're welcome. Thank you. Can we give Mike a little bit of a hand to do? I saw that tweet or a mic. I was like, today's gonna be a good day.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Thank you Mike. The great mic. The great mic. The great mic. The great mic. No one there are needed. Let's spin the Wheel of Issues and I just before we get into the Wheel of Issues, it's heavy obviously obviously you've got do you want to start with the history of Boston and
Starting point is 00:02:49 Riley on the wheel do you want to start with rivalry do you want to start with I believe that certain members of the shipping container including Greg Cody rooting for loss last night so that work would get easier. Oh no, around here. I don't put that in my mouth. I believe it. If I could give Greg his flowers, I know he's a writer, but his tweet really met the moment last night. And I just wanna stand back and appreciate.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Thank you. What a great storyteller. Bob Ryan-esque. You get me. Thank you. You wanna tell people what that tweet was, Mike? help it was simply the letter a yeah lowercase to be understated what I'm trying to do is give the Miami Heat an a an a grade excellent the plus would have been superfluous the capital letter would have
Starting point is 00:03:41 been showy I wanted a little lowercase A to speak for all of sub-Florida done and no minus. Efficient, right. He chose to be efficient. Hold on, there's more. Oh, there's more. On the wheel. There's just hole in your stomach. Right. There's two right? There's two number eight seeds ending Boston seasons of great hope. There is Bill Simmons, Mike Sherr, Reggie Miller, Tatum, Bam and Fubar on Netflix. Spend the Wheel. It's a loaded wheel. It is a loaded wheel. I can't see it from here in the new studio. Billy, what did it land on over there? Ooh, it landed on, I don't see it. The two eight seats.
Starting point is 00:04:32 The two eight seats, thank you, Chris. Wow. Couple of eight seats cutting it up. Go ahead, Dan. There's never been a better time in South Florida sports history than right now, upsets and Boston tiers tears and you feel like you've already won even if you don't win in the next round and so there's hot i mean she's that's not on the long
Starting point is 00:04:54 really surprised that didn't land on food bar when it was near you you were to control the wheel that you were secretly you were secretly rooting for everything that happened at the end of game six i want you to be honest because i accused you by text of giving a fist pump the way that i did secretly many years ago when you donnis has them dunked in a chicago game i didn't miss it finally that mission was a big got that we got ten years in the making away we got it before he did that i'll reveal that billy yes or no game six because my Crying and Chris Cody had fallen to the floor just gutted gutted by a loss
Starting point is 00:05:31 Like there's never been in this city none none is felt like that none Not Alan Houston A fiesta ball would like a word Mike the fiesta ball you had to hear from Ohio since then no I had to hear from all the college that that was a game six and I know you want to do the whole in the stomach show but that is of totally forgotten play. No one will ever remember the Derek White buzzer meter. I love no one. The first year of the big three Dan kind of felt bad after losing it is. I mean they lost it JJ Baraka. If they ended up losing in game seven, the Derek White thing surpasses Alan Houston,
Starting point is 00:06:08 but there's no surpassing the PS. I'm talking about in the moment that it happened. I'm not talking about what happened after that. I'm talking about what you walked around with for two days. And I had an entire game and the piece of my knowing that Joe Mizzula was not going to come back on Eric's post. You're such, you're such, yes, this is Miami. But man, I know I took about 40
Starting point is 00:06:27 milligrams and I went to bed. That's what happened. Mike. Mike. Oh, what? I texted you. You're so fraud. I mean, my amy fans, you're, I had another game to go. Mike, Mike, I texted you. Are you ready? And your answer was, I'm still mad about Saturday. It was like minutes before the game I was I was right, but you know that was a private message not the performative stuff that we do shame on you and congratulations
Starting point is 00:06:50 Billy went super viral last night by putting out the schedule. Oh, yeah, Billy was on it last night He put out the schedule hundreds of weeks ago I got Billy to be sent in groupchets. I did I have no affiliation with Billy and Superviral just by putting out the schedule. And then bam, bam misses the bunny, and everyone is crushing bam. And then Billy, helpful Billy. Heat Nation's rooting for you, bam.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Oh, man. I just said, I just said, Heat Nation knows you're trying, bam, exclamation mark, we're with you. Just in case, sometimes people need words of encouragement, you know what I mean? Everyone's screaming at this guy. Imagine if he goes out in a timeout or like between quarters to go to the bathroom or something.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Check this phone, he just sees all this stuff that he's in his bad head space. He needed a positive one, so I put it out there. Didn't tag him because I didn't want it to be, you know, a little showy, but a little support for our guy, Bam, huh? I was in three different group chats. See you yesterday. That were thankful for Jalen Brown,
Starting point is 00:07:43 elbowing Bam in the face because he was doing what everyone in Miami wanted to do. Wow, that's, that's hard. Come on. I mean, Bam needs the support. Never forget what Bam did in game six. Never forget what he did in game seven. I forget all about Derek White.
Starting point is 00:07:58 You're in the NBA finals. You won by 20, actually. We won by 20, actually. Yes, thankfully our second best player, carried us to victory. Caleb Martin. I was frustrated with BAM and then Stan pointed out the great screens he was setting. That's why you pay the man.
Starting point is 00:08:16 It's a winner stat. He's a loser. Stan Metabio is a winner. He's in his third conference finals win. He's in his second finals in four years. He is an anchor of this team. I'm not gonna do any of this shit. He's an anchor, all right.
Starting point is 00:08:30 He's a certain conference champion. Bam out of bio. Two times. Two times. I don't know whether you guys very quickly after that had the thought that I had because I called my father and he was swaggering around, very happy. And I'm like, if BAM looks like that against Boston,
Starting point is 00:08:47 what's gonna happen against Yokeich? I can give you some sample size stuff that isn't probably not great for BAM. Well, but if that's what it looks like, if that's what it looks like in two games at the end where you really need BAM, I was laughing. My father, I was tickling him, chortling. I'm like, the zealous minutes.
Starting point is 00:09:07 It's throw some Kevin Love at him. See what happens there. The BAM meltdown is not what we should be talking about today because he plays great defense and one of the reasons they're great is because of their defense. And he's important, and if he frustrates you because he's missing layups
Starting point is 00:09:24 and you want him to be more aggressive, that happens from time to time. He's not Yochitch. So the last three seasons of BAM versus Yochitch matchup data, this comes courtesy of HP basketball sees Yochitch averaging 52 points and 25 assists over the course of 44 minutes. What? I mean, who cares? Defense wins, championship. BAM was. What? I mean, who cares? Defense wins, championships, bam was plus 22.
Starting point is 00:09:47 I mean, enough, you guys, you're in the NBA finals. What are we doing today? Yokech is a betting favorite at minus 125 to average a triple double. My overall point, look, he's almost done that all post season. He did it to Phoenix. He lost both games averaging a triple double. All I'm going to do today, though, is tell you, the season's already won. It doesn't end in laughter of down 3L and Boston gets to celebrate.
Starting point is 00:10:17 There it put up the banner of Boston Tears because anything after this is gravy because they didn't deserve to win game six. They don't deserve to be this deep into the playoffs the way that they played this season. The whole season's a gift. Really the banner should just be the Bill Simmons photo. That's the Bill Simmons photo. Raise it up. That's so good. UD raises it up to the rafters and then it's in every pregame from here till the end of time.
Starting point is 00:10:44 UD is seventh finals. We don't go to the finals without Udonas has on as a franchise. Exactly right. He should reassign him. Udonas will decide when Udonas's career ends and no one else. Well, he's already decided. Well, I don't know. I think he's decided to read this.
Starting point is 00:10:58 But he'll decide when he wants to 10. He wants to 10. He'll have to see. He'll tell us my. The popping circumstance of the goodbyes. He said he's he's a 10 level sea. He's my the pomp and circumstance of the goodbyes. And he said he's he's ending it. Yeah, so it's Tom Brady. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:11:09 He got to see how the season ends because if the sense of the bad taste in his mouth, maybe you know, run it back one more time. What a great pivot from Stugat's not having any idea or memory of your Donnis having already said on this show last week. We need we need to we need to cut to to break, because he's a national champion. Yeah! Right. Who is a really racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial,
Starting point is 00:11:36 racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial,, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, racial, or do it against Alabama. A little thing in it. He said that on air, I think. I think we all heard that. I'm turning into Greg Cody.
Starting point is 00:11:48 I'm a national champion. I'm turning into Greg Cody. Brandon, it's not happening now. It's been happening for a few years. Ha, ha, ha, ha. Greg Cody, local Homer and historian. Thank you. For half of that.
Starting point is 00:12:02 You know where we are historically column wise. Give it a spooling storytelling punctuation. Best ever? And you know it. Don Lebertard. We are crazed right now. You are a fed and crazy. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:12:17 Shoot gots is alive. I'm not saying. He's keeping this act over there. Jats has been writing the entire time about the Miami Heat. And a mean here is getting buried by heat and nation. He's been telling you, he's been keeping it. You're praising screws, he was all for nice.
Starting point is 00:12:30 No, it's Kate Shootie. What is that? What are we doing? When screws go to the cup, he's looking to lay it up. He's not looking to turn it over like Duncan Robinson is. Duncan Robinson is a coward. Listen, listen. He is a coward.
Starting point is 00:12:43 Still got a coward. And bam can coward! Stugats! Chris? A coward! And bam can be bam in DC! I am dumb with him! And Carl Lowry is one of the worst postseason players in the history of the NBA! This is the Dan Lebathar show with a Stugats! Draftking Sportsbook and official sports betting partner of the NBA has a limited time offer for new customers. Use code Dan when you sign up on the Draftking Sportsbook and Official Sportsmaning Partner of the NBA has a limited time offer for new customers.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Use code Dan when you sign up on the Draft King Sportsbook app. The heat receiving the Bob Kuzi Award and the Larry Bird Conference MVP Award. As Ernie Johnson said, it's not lost on me, the irony of this, but is it ironic, sad or hysterical? fritzy? I think it's pretty hysterical to me. All right, Seaton. Yeah, I mean, it was going to be my best of the weekend. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I thought it was just, I was absolutely dying last night watching. And Ernie, yeah, he had a great, right, you know, the irony here's not lost on me. Marv? Oh, hysterical. All right. Paulie? Yeah, hysterical. That's a brutal weekend. That's a holiday weekend holiday weekend in Boston. All the bros are out all
Starting point is 00:13:46 Tanned up. Everybody primed for a historic night. Yeah, the beer's in the back ever. Yeah. Here's the here's the Larry bird trophy, Jimmy. It's bringing Dan Levitard host of the Dan Levitard show with Stu Gauntz and Dan. Good to see you. So it was nice seeing you, Dan. I've got a little bit of chaos around me here. We've got a very electric sort of vibrating Miami, and we're coming off of a historic United America last night, feeling very good about itself, because they would be able to laugh at one city. Last night was a winning night for America.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Either today would be about laughing at Boston fans or laughing at Miami fans. And America wins today, and here's the best part about it. America was gonna win today no matter what. One hated fan base was going to allow you to laugh like that today. So congratulations to America. Yeah, but I don't know if America hates the Miami heap anymore. No, no, we kind of need it. We kind of need it down here.
Starting point is 00:14:50 They hate Miami. Oh, but not not the heat. I believe that all things Miami are something that divide America. Do you guys hate the Miami heat? Like Jimmy Butler's a great story and Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent and Eric Spolstra. And we need the hate. We've been starved for the hate. It's a thousand and a half. Why is it not understanding what's happening around here? Wait, the lights just went out on your show.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Oh my God. Haters. What happened? Haters. Bring back our hate. Okay. I'm sorry that the power has gone down here. Oh my gosh, haters. What happened? Haters. Bring back our hate. Okay. I'm sorry that the power has gone down here.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I can still hear you though, Dan. I can still hear you. You never look better. I love it. Yeah. Anybody got any matches? How about a candle? Something.
Starting point is 00:15:40 I'm running, I'm running a media empire here, Dan Patrick. This is a very exciting time in our history. Man. Everything shakes and creaks down here with the enthusiasm. We've lost all power down here, so I'm sorry. This isn't a better televised affair. Do you, is this my best? I like it.
Starting point is 00:15:58 I like it. I like it. My candlelight. Can you see me? Can you see me now? Is this the Levitardvitard blare witch project i i'm sorry that i literally after leaving the s.p.a. and can't keep the lights on and two god pay the bills for the man will you
Starting point is 00:16:18 you want me to pay the bill i don't pay my own bill uh... what it be like today if the Miami heated laws last night? Well here's the thing though, Dan, do you know what a gut punch game six was? Like, when do you ever see it'll get forgotten by time? What would have been something that embossed in would have rang a turn like Dave Roberts stealing a base? And when they were down three, oh Derek White gets lost to history now. He's just, the reason I say this felt the way that it did back when Miami and the world
Starting point is 00:16:55 were fighting is because everybody was willing and ready to laugh at Miami being the first to drop a 30 lead. Derek White doing that as a gut punch. If you like sports, you can hate Boston and still be like, man, that was amazing. What an amazing ending. And Boston would have had that forever instead they had it for two days. It's gone now. It evaporates into something like, oh my god, that team was a laughing stock.
Starting point is 00:17:21 And here's the best part, if you want to laugh at Boston. Boston season ended on the very next play when Jason Tatum heard his ankle. Like the very next time they played a basketball play, everything the Derek White gave them was gone. And so it's just, it's something you can laugh at. Just like us losing the lights here at a seven-o'-moment in sports history. It's out Florida. Where we've got two eight seeds ruining Boston season. Two eight seeds ruining everything Boston wants to believe in as hope. We really hate Boston.
Starting point is 00:17:51 It's a legitimate rivalry Dan. We don't have those anymore. It's a legitimate rivalry. Those are the best two teams in the east the last four years and they hate each other going back to Pat
Starting point is 00:18:01 Riley hates Boston because bleep Boston. Okay, who's more important to the heat and their success, Eric Spolster or Pat Riley? Why do I have to choose? You have to choose. I ask you to choose. You, look, it sports radio. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:18:17 I mean, okay, Eric Spolster learned in the dark crevices of the caves of whatever obsessive compulsiveness sort of what you're in right now, a dark cave. Exactly. In sports, Eric Spolster, he was spending years sculpting in the dark recesses of the film room before technology was good. Like he's, he's slicing up tape and he comes through 30 years of that. Now, what is it? Seven, seven finals or Eastern conference finals, whatever the numbers are, half the time they get that far. And it's all of it. It's not just spul, straight,
Starting point is 00:18:55 spul, straight handed down from Riley, because he learned all the Riley stuff and they still go face to face on confrontation, even though Riley's damn near 80 years old. Well, you answer the man's question. I mean, I don't, I mean, who built it? Cat Riley built all of it. Okay. So Stu got's, let me ask you, who's more important? Eric's bolster. In fact, and I would tell you that if Eric's bolster has ever had thoughts of going somewhere
Starting point is 00:19:21 else because he is tired of this question and tired of being under the umbrella of Pat Riley. I would tell you after this season, his stock will never be higher because he has made it to the finals with Jimmy Butler as his best player. And when you consider what jobs are open right now, Eric's Bolster could say, Hey, here's my salary. I want to be president. I want head coach. I want control of everything. Not surprising. I think I could do it in Milwaukee. It's surprising that Stugats would turn Spulcher winning into a leverage. How about we stop giving Riley credit for something that Spulcher is actually doing. Okay. Because Spulcher
Starting point is 00:20:02 is on the badge and he has coached these guys. There were then four games of an NBA champion. because the ball st very good jobs available that are never available. And in Miami, Spulster knows that the guy who was with him in the video room is with him still because he's got organizational stability behind him. It doesn't matter who you choose to me. It doesn't. He could have gone to Portland, gotten out ownership stake, could have been president, could have had power,
Starting point is 00:20:38 but he's been comfortable growing old here, learning what he's learned here, 30 years of, you saw, Dan, have you ever seen after a game six, a coach going into Boston for a game seven, as an eight point dog banging on the table, I want to tip it up again right now, right now. I want to, I want to tip it up again. Like you could give it. I don't know why we have to separate the credit. Why do we have to choose between them? Why can't it be organizationally? this is a really strong organization that is done more winning this century than the Celtics bought you know basketball's most historic
Starting point is 00:21:12 franchise see this is why i'm starting to hate the heat again because people like dan levittard telling me all that and by the way don't take credit for the florida panthers here damn what do you mean i mean aren't they closer to bookbook of riton uh... they have to well actually we were saying that the uh... boat parade is gonna be a part of the because they they they exist in a marshland it's aggressively uh... i mean sunrise florida that's where you go to die and well i mean well good that's all right
Starting point is 00:21:44 good thing we have an expert in gregg kody here who lives right over there I admit. Whoa. I mean, well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good.
Starting point is 00:22:00 Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well, good. Well's not going anywhere, er, exposure. He's a heat lifer book it. That's our popular Greg Cody long time. Total Homer. Yeah, absolutely. Especially this week. He just gave you book it like it was a 70s detective catch phrase. Thank you book it. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, put it in a book, write it down in a book. The blanket. How big is Jimmy Butler? If we had power rankings in Miami.
Starting point is 00:22:27 No, our athlete power rankings is he a one seed. Oh yeah. What do you, oh yeah. Are you guys doing it? Dan, you were doing the show I've always wanted to do. Power rankings. Jimmy Butler. God bless you.
Starting point is 00:22:44 One seed. One A. Okay. over anybody with the dolphins anybody anybody else come in to anybody from the floor to Panthers. Okay, you're talking about uh present or all time um how about current and then we could do all time. Okay, but this is what we need to do if we're gonna go to you know, can you put up a test pattern at least on your screen there, like something it's just, I, buddy, I don't have control of the technology here. This is embarrassing. It is embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:23:12 You don't think I'm embarrassed right now. Do you think that I filled with boy and champion pride right now? This is why Mike Ryan left. But as you, he hasn't left, you just can't see him because his head is hand in his hand in the dark. I can see he's going to be leaving. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:27 I'm leaving now. Yeah. I don't I get out. Get out while you can answer your question. This is why it's funny. The question that you just asked. Yes, Jimmy Butler is in the process of trying to wrestle away the legacy and team of the Miami Heat from Dwayne Wade gave us the greatest feeling.
Starting point is 00:23:44 And LeBron James gave us the greatest feeling in the brunt james gave us the greatest feeling however in the last two games Caleb martin has been their star Caleb martin has been their best player over the last few games our Michael Jordan has been outplayed by Caleb martin over the last half of the year he should have been the MVP last night. Well, that's Reggie Miller's fault. He said it on the broadcast again I'm why are you yelling you don't even have lights on then you don't even have the status to yell at me right now Because Reggie Miller told us on the broadcast last night prize the audio works there out of that studio
Starting point is 00:24:22 Good gracious, man, you see me at all? No, it's a dark screen. Why am I holding these lights? I can't see me sweat. It's been holding a phone to his face for 15 minutes. Damn, for 12 minutes, you have been in the black and in the dark. You can't see me at all.
Starting point is 00:24:43 No. The power is out in the building. This is great. I have no idea how we're connected to the damn badgered honestly. It's hot in here too. All right. Well, now I'm now I'm here. Now you don't have any signal here coming. Oh my god. I feel bad for you. Metal art. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. you need to be on the line. Hiring now. Hiring now. It's media falls apart all over the United States. How about technicians?
Starting point is 00:25:10 Hiring technicians right now, a lighting director, something like that. You got to start with the basics. A good foundation, Dan. A brand new studio. I'm sure it wasn't cheap, Dan. I'm sure it wasn't cheap. Oh no, I saw the tour.
Starting point is 00:25:23 I saw the tour of the studio. Look great. You know how hard it is to pay rent and buy things in Miami right now. You know how expensive things are here. Stougots, Greg Cody and Dan Levittar make up that powerhouse show. The Dan Levittar show with Stougots. You know what? You're onto something a blackout show. We see audiences do it. You've done it with a show with Stu Gatz. You know what, you're onto something, a blackout show.
Starting point is 00:25:45 We see audiences do it, you've done it with a show. Congratulations, Stan. I'm deeply embarrassed. Thank you, Dan. Stan Levitard. Man, he's falling on hard times. F-D-S-P-N. Yeah, feel bad.
Starting point is 00:26:01 Don Levitard. Spots. Stu Gatz. More Spots. This is the Don Levitard! Sports! Stugats! Sports! This is the Don Lebatard Show with the Stugats! Draft King Sportsbook, an official sports betting partner of the NBA has a limited time offer for new customers. Use code Dan when you sign up on the Draft King Sportsbook app to check it out.
Starting point is 00:26:25 On one of the most anticipated days in show history, at one of the most enthusiastic times at any time that I have lived in South Florida. You may hear that I am presently doing the show via iPhone with the shipping container standing behind me in the dark including inexplicably Brad Williams. I have one functioning microphone I am hooked up to the iPhone we have just crapped out like just shit ourselves on the Dan Patrick show. And I have behind me in the dark people I cannot see all of them. I have Roy I have Jeremy Tony. They want to so badly speak Mike and Billy and Chris Cody are here again and inexplicably Brad Williams
Starting point is 00:27:13 Greg Cody is next to me stugots is next to me Chris Cody Can you come over here to this one function? microphone Okay, and just just tell us what your observations are on what just happened with Dan Patrick how embarrassed I should be as someone in charge of metal art media who has just seen his company shit itself on national television well we definitely shout ourselves on Dan Patrick but I blame Bill Simmons for this do we know that he didn't cut all the power around here? All right, media elite is what he's going with.
Starting point is 00:27:46 He had his routine, I asked him a question. He decided to do whatever it is he wanted to do. I ask you again, what stood out from what just happened with the content with Dan Patrick? I think that we showed that we can, we mean business. When shit hits the fan, we keep it together. You'd put together a segment in the dark This is keeping it together. This is keeping it technically. We had no choice
Starting point is 00:28:11 Depressed okay Impressed is what you were by what we just did interesting go sit in the penalty box Get out of here Two minutes for being impressed Wow, two minutes for being impressed. Unbelievable. It was a box of their condition, could rest. Because he was telling me before we came on here that what he was most amazed by is the way
Starting point is 00:28:32 that Stugots kept trying to grab the steering wheel in the dark to what we were doing with Dan Patrick. At one point, just shouting LeBron for reasons, nobody could understand. Well, I felt like you were uncomfortable because again, the power went out and we were in the dark and you were using your cell phone as lighting.
Starting point is 00:28:50 And so I was just trying to be a good teammate then. I felt you were uncomfortable. I felt like you needed some of the chime in. And so I was the guy. I mean, I was trying to be here for you. Don't criticize me. What did I do? I'm not in charge of electricity over here.
Starting point is 00:29:03 I wasn't criticizing you. Chris Cody was until I asked him to do show and then he decided to blame Bill Simmons for our power outing and a conspiracy involving the media elite that won a silence Miami which deeply wants to be hated right now by the country. He really though Greg Cody, Dan Patrick, flummoxed me when he said, who hates you guys? We're just busy hating Boston. That's right, it's a popular thing now. But we're doing the best we can here. Everybody hates Boston.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Derek White, he was a legend in the making, and now nobody remembers his name. I barely remembered his name. I had to think Derek White, right? But, you know what? Thank you, Larry. Thank you very much. I'm sweating like a pig here, Dan.
Starting point is 00:29:45 I'm sorry, I'm trying to do show. We lost also our air conditioning here. Mike Ryan, how do you generally feel about how everything is going right now? Just in general, I want to discuss what is a very historic game in South Florida history that people are expectingly wanting to hear from us on, and it's not going
Starting point is 00:30:05 well so far. I'm terribly embarrassed by all of this and proud in our ability to do a segment such that it is though, but right now my mind is trying to figure out exactly how we're going to put together a show because we don't really have an ETA on when the power is coming back. What was bizarre about the entire experience with Dan Patrick is, despite everything turning off, the connection stayed sturdy with Dan Patrick, which I don't quite understand. So you were still able to do that segment as our world was falling apart around us. But we're not going to be able to do an entire show like this because I am
Starting point is 00:30:38 melting right now. Yeah, it's gotten very hot in here. Billy, can you come over here over my left shoulder, please? Just real quick. It's a big alone. here. Billy, can you come over here over my left shoulder, please, just real quick. It's a big deal. Yeah, I just want to know. And the room, Chris. I have, why is he still here? Why are you not?
Starting point is 00:30:52 I can't see you. I can't get out of here. Go sit in the penalty box room. I don't want you here anymore. Billy, this is all I want to know. Chris, this is Jessica that's dark get it just not reading the room I mean hard to read the room when you can't see it's fair point huh hey Billy yeah did you
Starting point is 00:31:19 do this this I'm here just to support you Dan, whatever you need I'm here. Billy, did you do all of this? Did you, did you find a power structure in here that locked us out of the ability to do a show today because you wanted to do the show as soon as game six ended secretly. I feel like this is going well all things considered don't you? Why are you still here? Bread Williams do you have where are you can you come over near my right shoulder, please? Sorry, you said where are you? I thought there was a short joke You're a professional comedian. Do you have any experience with the power going out during a show what you're supposed to do? I actually do in New England. It was in Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut. The power went out in the Hartford mall and
Starting point is 00:32:16 we Everyone put on their iPhone lights and I just had to scream at people with no microphone even got heckled by someone when there was no power. How do you feel like this is going so far? I think it's going fantastic. I'm a guest in your house and if this is the house, okay. Yeah, it's not a great situation. It's not a great situation. Mike Ryan, what are you doing with my cell phone and it's flash light?
Starting point is 00:32:43 Why is it not in the right place? We're trying to... You're blocking the view from the one camera that we have. So I'm in charge of lighting as well as making sure we get a show out today. All right, so just tell me on the computer that does work here. It works very damp.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Yeah, I'm sweating because this is uncomfortable. But... All the tickling. Stugots, what is the third thing trending over there on your computer, the very third thing? Uh, Bill Simmons. Anybody here have any thoughts? I listened to the Bill Simmons podcast. That was fun. He brought his dad in there. Um, I made sure to listen to what they felt like after the, the Derek White made basket at the buzzer because now none of that matters. It is not going to be remembered whatsoever. And I think that's the funniest takeaway from everything.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Is that all this narrative was building. You had former Red Sox from the 2004 team. You had Derek White already christened as this cult hero and they got their asses handed to them by 20 at game seven. What's been really weird about these two teams that have been running this conference outside of the shortest offseason ever was that home court advantage didn't matter whatsoever. You had the heat lose game seven on their home floor. You have the boss and Celtics lose game seven on their home floor. You have the boss and Celtics lose game seven on their home floor.
Starting point is 00:34:05 You have the Panthers and the heat winning as many games in TD Garden as the Bruins and Celtics this season. It's a really bizarre matchup, these two teams. And saying nothing of Bill Simmons though, the idea of that, because he's not wrong, Mr. Guides. He's not wrong.
Starting point is 00:34:22 If you listen to their podcast, which I employ, everyone is sick of Jalen Brown. Everyone is sick of Jalen Brown and I think the Miami Heat discovered this last year and the playoffs with him is that he can't trouble he had eight turnovers and I mean dude was looking like he he should wear a late like most of that game. Everyone's pretty much over the Jalen Brown thing which I found pretty interesting considering the ceiling on him can the start that he got to off of his career but he's twenty six now and there is no hope that he can improve that aspect of his game stugots he's gonna get uh...
Starting point is 00:34:54 gonna he's while he's going to be in the ability from boston to get the richest contract in the history of the sport, the Supermax near $300 million. I think Jalen Brown's hand is hurt, but he misses all his threes last night, eight turnovers. That's the reason they didn't win in the finals last year, so he can't dribble. They've got a fundamental problem at the core of their franchise that when you ask him to be the number one, the way Miami has Caleb Martin to be the number one, what you get is what you got last night when Jason Tatum is hurt. They need Jason Tatum to the whole franchise in Boston, the whole blueprint is built upon if Jason Tatum gets his ankle hurt in game seven. Jalen Brown can't actually
Starting point is 00:35:39 carry this. Jalen Brown is still a very, very good player, though. And he's going to get his money if not in Boston, he'll get it elsewhere. I would tell you that's on the Zoola Les. So you have to recognize that you're playing four on five out there and you take Jason Tatum out. I don't care that it's a game seven. And you know who you put in, Dan, you see if Blake Griffith has one more in the tank. Just one more in the tank. Can he give you a 22 off the bench at a night that you need it? Just summing something up in a big spot former all start you can't leave to
Starting point is 00:36:11 Tatum couldn't move you don't put them out there in a game that requires movement. You don't do that Blake being the replacement for Tate. It's the best they've got. Yeah. Uh-huh. I agree with him. He was how are you still here? Get out of here! Stay! Stugats, you were asked about Jalen Brown. How did you go to, you got a bench Tatum and Plake Blake Griff? And you were just asked about Jalen Brown! I said he's a good player, he'll get his money. If not in Boston, he'll get it elsewhere.
Starting point is 00:36:36 But that's what I do. I mean, I shift to the Blake Ribbon. And then... You shift the blame to Missoula for not benching Jason Tatum. No, it's not really. That's a good point. Thank you. I got a quick power update.
Starting point is 00:36:54 I finally got a return phone call from Ready Killowat. He says the lights should be back on by early June. So there's that. What? Yeah, it's true. Who's that? Ready Killowat.. Shoe Killer! I don't have access to the sounds here because the computer's in it.
Starting point is 00:37:11 No, you can, but he's here. You can leave though. You can go, you can go, go, go, go, go, go, go, be with your son. Never. I can be up there, it's a long way, man. It's really fair. Just right in front of the camera here. Do you know how hard it is to give me less help Uh, never. I can't be updated. I can't be updated. Oh, man. It's really bad. Just right in front of the gallery. All right.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Do you know how hard it is to give me less help than I just got from Stugots when I asked him a jail in brown question. He went straight to Missoula Tatum and then. I'm late. Great. Griffin. You just see if he gets summoned something up. Listen, I want to talk why at least there are way to get Grecoady and the Horde network out
Starting point is 00:37:45 with no equipment? Can Brad make a sound? Is there a way that we can do that? How do we get with nothing working here? And us running toward the end of the segment, he's asking how to whisper when he gets back so that we can get as a show, we're just going to go. I can have a timer.
Starting point is 00:38:02 I have my clock ticking up right now, but if it takes down, it can... All right, the iPhone. All right, let's see when he comes back in here, whether or not it's around it. I've got now, please explain to me, Mr. Godds, how many iPhone lights are in our face right now? What is it?
Starting point is 00:38:18 It's roughly nine. Nine, how many people are in this very small, damp, humid, no air conditioning room right now? Starting to smell. 9. How many people are in this very small damp humid, no air conditioning room right now? How many are here right now? Sir, give me a number because we've got video in here. This slip shot operation has a whole bunch of people, not a lot of lights. How many people are in here? 74. But how many are really in here? Like 11. That's a lot. It's in a small room we have 12 people here on one of the most
Starting point is 00:38:53 historic days in now it's Chris Cody has walked in. Go get your father here so that I can get his historians perspective. Did he embarrass you at all? How maximum Homer he was on the Dan Patrick show? Just, that's his role though. I mean, he's a poignant, nuanced opinion in South Florida sports history. That's why you got the tweet yesterday, A, like he just cuts right to the heart of the matter. Chris, Greg, I'm sorry we just saw your seat here.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Can you please sit down here and give us some good content, good content, not, you know, a bunch of jokes. Can you give us, you don't need that microphone, that microphone's not, we got this one functioning microphone and what we need from you is a little bit of expertise as a South Florida historian as somebody, no jokes around here, okay? We're all joking, but you're a maximum excellent storyteller. You chronicle Miami's history in sports in the market, and we presently are in what has to be viewed as not just the most
Starting point is 00:40:01 exhausting time for you as a sports columnist working very hard, but also an exuberant time because you're torn between loving it and being tired. So explain to us what's happening in South Florida right now. We have two eights playing like Aces. How's that for a reference? Wait a minute, is that the thing? That's the hard network out? It sounds like my popcorn is done in the microwave. The hell's going on here?
Starting point is 00:40:34 He's this Christ almighty That the hard network out should not happen during a power outage. It's it's not even fair Those phones out of my face What are you doing? It's not even fair. Those phones out of my face. What are you doing?
