God bless football, Mikey, eh?
God bless football, Billy. Here we are, it's Friday.
Big win for the Jets yesterday over the Houston Texans.
We were talking a moment ago before we started recording.
Not a good day for the people that fell for the trap
of saying the Jets are favored in this.
I'm gonna take them.
That'd be me. I fell for the trap of saying the Jets are favored in this, I'm gonna take them. That'd be me.
I fell for that trap.
Early in the week I saw Jets minus one,
give me the Texans, give them to me twice.
And yeah.
So we discussed it yesterday on pregame power up
on DraftKings network with Trey Wingo.
If the Jets win this game over the Texans are you back in on the Jets?
By the way we are presented by Smirnoff the world's number one vodka please drink responsibly. Also
we do game days the Smirnoff company New York New York. Now we are going to be talking to Chris
Sims later we're going to be talking to Todd McShea later we're going to have our pick segment
later Stigas is going to be joining us later as well.
But Mikey, I'll ask you now that the game has been played
because coming into it, you said if the Jets win,
I'm definitely not back on the Jets
and believing that they're gonna make the playoffs,
believing that they're gonna go far in this.
But now that it's happened, you're back, right?
I'm still out, but I'm fighting it
more than I thought I would be.
I'm fighting that urge to be like,
they really can go on a run here
because they can't go on a run.
I said before, I was like, this is the game the Jets win.
This is the game, they have no business
beating the Houston Texans.
The Houston Texans are a great team.
They were what, six and two coming in
and the Jets have no business winning,
but here we are and I'm fighting myself not to go back.
I don't wanna do Jets schedule talk
because I feel like that's where this goes,
but Cardinals, Colts, like, you get right back in this.
Listen, Joe Flacco's good, Joe Flacco's good.
That is true, Joe Flacco starting over Anthony Richardson
against your team isn't what you want to see,
which is crazy to say as a sentence out loud,
but I feel like that's where we are also.
CJ Stroud, sophomore slump.
Okay, I need to ask you a question
about the Garrett Wilson catch,
because I am a Jets fan.
I see it and I go,
that's one of the best catches I've ever seen.
But is it one of the best catches
or am I just, do I have Jets blinders on?
Okay, it was.
Like I put it up there with the Odell Beckham one.
It was an incredible athletic catch.
It was a great play.
However, by the rules,
I don't understand
how George Piggins' catch was not a catch,
and that is a catch.
The foot comes down, then we say the shin is down,
but the shin is connected to the leg,
and the leg keeps rolling,
and then the leg goes out of balance
before the knee comes down,
and if the back of your foot,
the heel of your foot goes down,
and then the front of your foot touches out of balance,
you're out, so like, I don't understand what a catch
is in the NFL anymore.
But it was great, but it was great, but it was great.
But it was great.
Where do you put that compared to the Odell Beckham catch?
Odell Beckham, Garrett Wilson.
But like, it's just a little bit.
It's just a little bit. It's one and one A? It's, yeah, it's Odell Beckham, Garrett Wilson. But like, it's just a little bit. It's just a little bit.
It's one and one A?
It's, yeah, it's one and one A.
It's one and one A.
But I wonder, like, am I just saying that
with Jets goggles on, or as somebody who doesn't
like the Jets, do you look at it and go,
yeah, that's one A.
Well, I think the thing with Odell Beckham is
if you watch it from like the side angle,
is that when he catches it, he continues to move back
and brings it like well beyond the back of his head
and then comes back in.
But man, that was a great catch last night.
And he was interfered with, yeah.
Here's-
That's, Odell Beckham wins.
Odell Beckham wins, but last night was a great catch.
I have some bad news for you
if you are a Garrett Wilson fan, Mike Ye. Odell Beckham wins. Odell Beckham wins, but last night was a great catch. I have some bad news for you
if you are a Garrett Wilson fan, Mikey A.
And I don't know if you're aware of this.
But if you like Garrett Wilson,
unfortunately this week you will not be able
to take him in our fantasy league
because our fantasy league is only for the one o'clock games
and the four o'clock games.
That is presented by Smirnoff,
$3 buy-in, dkng.co slash Smirnoff
if you want to participate.
Fun show coming up. You want to just get to it Mikey?
Let's get to it.
It is time for this week's edition of Studio Guts
presented by DraftKings Sportsbook.

and all it has to offer throughout the show.
DraftKings, the crown is yours.

I'm taking Vandy here.

It's that time of year again, football season. The most wonderful time of year. Traditions,
friends, family, good food, good drinks. From defending your favorite team after a bad loss
to obsessively checking your fantasy lineups. Football fandoms bigger than just Sundays. And Millerlite knows the passion
that comes with rooting for your team. Like the debate that sparked in 1975. Great taste versus
less filling. So what's the best thing about the Original Light beer? Let it be both. It's the
perfect combo that saves me time. I no longer have to walk down the aisle and think, what tastes the best?
Hmm, which is less filling?
What do I do?
Get the best tasting and the less filling and pour it into this giant blender, mix them
together and get the perfect drink?
No, you don't have to do that because Miller Lite already has.
Make your game day taste like Miller time.
Taste great and less filling.
Let it be both.

Your new show is out, The McShay Show. And we were laughing about the title of the show.
It's cleverly named, but we were wondering what was second and third place when you guys were figuring out
Congratulations on the show Todd and thank you for joining us when you guys were figuring out a name of the show
What were the other options?
The McShay Todd cast
Talking about my kids, that's what they wanted me to offer up. I did. And people at the ringer just laughed at it. So you can joke about it,
but that's not going to be your podcast.
What the Todd Todd Todd show from like the Cali end no bit, but the Todd Todd
Todd cast. Yeah, I'm not with I'm not with Kiper anymore. You know,
and I am in spirit, but but not not company wide.
So, yeah, I don't know.
We landed on that.
That was that was their call.
It feels a little like arrogant, right?
Like, look at me. I get it.
We were spitballing here.
We said Todd talk would have been good.
Yeah. Could have done in front of like a black screen on a stage the entire time.
Or also Todd Todd. Yeah. Could have do it in front of like a black screen on a stage the entire time or also
Todd Todd that Rossello just Rossello was was think remembering back to a time
I was at the shade hotel in Manhattan Beach
Brought him into my hotel room with all my film set up and talked him through James Winston versus Mariota in that draft class
And he referenced it as a Todd talk
And you were right by the way, I mean Yeah the and he referenced it as a Todd
talk instead of a TED Talk.
And you were right by the way.
I mean. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I
mean I don't want to but I want
that one. Yeah. Uh Billy, I
don't know that there are any
huge winners in that but yeah.
No, there's not. Well,
yesterday you won. Uh but Billy,
you had another suggestion,
right? For titles. Well, now
we're thinking about like what
we could name it and Shannon
Sharp has a show club Shashe. So, we thought about club McShay. Shea. There you go.
That is. Yeah. No, I mean, more casual. You'd be on account.
I've been called Shea Shea before, but not since not since
that podcast. That's gone away. I am certain Todd that you had
you guys drunk by the way, we are drinking Smear. No, yeah.
Yeah. I mean, please drink responsibly. Listen, you try
being a Jets fan, okay?
You'd be getting hammered on a Monday at noon as well, okay?
You spent your day yesterday watching the Jets lose in person.
Is that correct?
I did.
I did.
Yeah, that was that.
I was texting with you.
It's like, it sounded like a great idea.
My son's 10th birthday was recently.
We're trying to pick a game that we'd go to and obviously, you know,
I played college football with Joe Douglas, and thought it would be cool to bring him there and to
take my son to a game and Joe was there and, you know, get the
experience, right? Yeah. And that game looked interesting. I
knew the Patriots were going to be great, but the Jets are in
town, they're gonna have a great season. We all you know, all
we're expecting that. And then, you know, all of a sudden, it's like, Oh, shoot, one in six
versus two and five. But still an unbelievable experience. And
thank you to the Patriots. Thank you to the Jets, you know, got
to bring my son on the field. I'm talking to, you know, a
former ESPN executive on the sideline. I look over my son.
Yeah, I don't know if you've been on the sideline of an NFL
game pre
pregame. They have like the ropes up where people who are
allowed on the field have to stay within a certain area and
my son just think he thinks he runs the joint, you know, and I
look over and I'm talking to this guy Jerry Matalon who g
Matt, I don't know if he was there when you guys were I know
Jerry very well. He's a wonderful man. Yeah, he really
is a wonderful man. So I'm talking to him, lose track
of where my son is. And he thinks it's okay. Now I look
over. He's in the end zone. And I'm like, Oh, you know, like, I
know, and I'm all that's running through my head is like, Joe
texts me like, What are you doing? Stacy James with the
Patriots yelling at me. And so I look over and now the jets are
coming out of the tunnel. And Braylon
Allen, the rookie running back number zero comes running out.
And Tate is like, what's up, man? With his handout. And I'm
like, this isn't gonna end well. And so I'm like, Jerry, I gotta
go. So I start walking over. And Braylon was cool. He looked
around like what like this? He's not supposed to be here. And I
thought he was gonna be like, get out of here. But he he was like what's up buddy how you doing so that was the
start of my day I thought we were gonna get kicked off the field within like five minutes of being
right uh kudos to your son for acting like he owns the joint I like that I mean he gets a page
out of your your playbook right yes it is yes but you're his dad not me so yeah yeah I mean we
didn't have a conversation about that after.
I am certain you had a number of suitors. I'm wondering how you ended up, how this deal
came to fruition you with the ringer. I'm excited for you. I'm just wondering how it
all came about.
You know, when I when I was laid off with a bunch of people at ESPN, I kind of made
the decision a few months in
after kind of being frustrated going through all the emotions
that when I go back, I want to do it my way. And my guy, Steve
Mentsch, who's been with me behind the scenes, scouting,
lives up in New Hampshire, doesn't like to travel, just
been doing the grinding for over two decades, like 25 years. And
I was like, you know what? Mentsch is going to be my guy, and we're going to go on and we're
just going to be transparent. We're just going to do it our
way. We're going to take people behind the scenes of our
scouting process, bring them into, you know, in league
offices and scouting departments what they do, and truly have fun
with it. Like I've been, I spent 15 years on the road. Yeah,
you know, leaving on Thursdays coming back on Sundays going to
you know, from Knoxville one week to Tuscaloosa the next week
and had an absolute blast. But it tore me away from my family a
little bit a lot. And more but it just was a grind. And I loved
it. But when I kind of came up for air, I was like, the the media game has changed. The landscape has
changed. I'm watching you clowns, you know, five days a
week having a blast doing what you're doing. Yeah. And it was
kind of an inspiration. I'm watching, you know, whether it's
McAfee or, you know, Rossello and you guys, it just that seems
fun. So that we shopped it around, talked to nine different places.
Finally found the right.
I found the right home, you know, and that's hard to do, but I found the right home.
Spotify has gotten behind us.
We're going video with the podcast three days, three days a week, Tuesdays and
Thursdays every, every week during the college football season.
We do a show right after the games after the prime time game on Saturday nights,
which I signed up for and I love doing it,
but now I'm going to bed at one in the morning.
But man, I love what I'm doing and it feels right.
And that's the first time in a long time,
I can actually say that.
So it's really cool and I appreciate you asking.
So we're happy for you.
It seems like a life choice though, right?
Like this was a life choice.
Totally. Yes. Yeah. Good. You and seems like a life choice though, right? Like this was a life choice. Totally.
Yes.
Yeah.
Good.
You and I talked a lot like after I got laid off
and I just, I talked to a lot of people
who left ESPN or never worked there
and ESPN has been wonderful to me.
I don't like, I don't regret a minute.
I learned so much.
They created, you know, my, who I They created who I am in terms of on air. I don't
have a single regret. I truly appreciate ESPN and everything that it did for me and the relationships
I have there are lifelong. When presented with this opportunity, it was about being able
to do it the right way, in my opinion, being able to do it, where it was it was best for
me and my children and my family. And also being able to do it without restrictions,
you know what I mean? Like, of course, with what I with what I do, you guys do have the
fun and you, your whole thing your entire
life is you've been a great sports fan and you like you
bring that when I when I listen to you guys, I hear the passion,
the energy, I see the fun. It's like, it's contagious, right.
And that's why I love listening to your show still to this day.
For me, it's about like, all the tape I watch all the
conversations I have, to be able instead of just in 90 seconds with a clip that it has to be sold to somebody
and to actually be able to sit,
sit with this stupid microphone in front of me and equally stupid headphones on
to sit in my office where I watch tape and just to have the conversations with
the audience that I'm having with people in the league and to be able to like
dive in deeper to what I'm doing to people in the league and to be able to like dive in deeper
To what i'm doing to evaluate these prospects has been a lot of fun
Is your life a lot different now that you're doing the podcast or I guess your professional life like your workflow
Is it a lot different? You're still going to do a lot of the same stuff
but now we get you, you know three times a week during the season my uh, the
The process is the same like we started in May for next year
It's it's a full, you know, 12 months a year evaluating. I'm watching the same tape have the same database have the same board
You know to having the same conversations with everyone so like nothing in from the process changes at all
it's just it's a lot less travel and
And so there with that comes fewer stories of, you know, I sat down with Nick on a Thursday before, a Friday before a game.
And so I don't have as many of those stories, but I still have everyone's cell phone numbers.
I'm still talking to everyone.
So, but what's different now is we get to, like I've already one week into the show, like I trust the people I'm working with, the producers I'm working with.
I trust Mench implicitly.
And to be able to just shoot a text, like this week we have Joel Klatt coming on tomorrow.
To shoot him a text this morning, be, hey, do you mind joining you at Penn State, Ohio
State this week?
And to be able to tap into those, you know, it's been two and a half decades of building
relationships and getting to really know people and traveling with them and dinners and,
and like, you know, to be able to, to kind of call on all that now is,
is really cool. It's hard though. Like you guys make it look easy,
but like lining up guests, figuring out what the rundown is.
That's the hardest part for me. Like I always go on shows and answer questions. I go into a studio, I answer questions. I get a rundown and it's like, all right, these are
the five players I'm talking about, or these are the three teams. So I've always been like kind of
pushed and pointed in the right direction. Now it's like this, you know, this open canvas, if you
will. So the hardest part for me is figuring out, all right, what are we going to talk about this
week? What's interesting? You know, so like, the creative part
is different, and it's harder. But it's also more fun, because
it's challenging. So yeah, I don't know, it's a long winded
answer. But I'm enjoying the hell out of it, man. I really
am. I was worried. Like I was, I promise you, like, pacing
around nervous about the first couple of shows. I was worried. Like I was, I promise you like pacing around
nervous about the first couple of shows.
Are you really? Yeah. You got to remember I've never done this.
I know. I know.
I would go on a half hour show or an hour show and I would have a rundown. It just we're gonna do in the AIDS.
Right. Jaden Daniels go right. Exactly.
Jaden Daniels. And like here, here are the three clips that I
have and I could time it out to the, to, you know, what the video is.
And so to have like, all right, we're on for 60 to 90 minutes.
What do you got? So I was nervous. I was truly nervous.
I wasn't like shaking in my voice, but I was nervous.
I did like an open for the first show. I've never written my own open.
I don't host things. I'm not talented. I'm not Van Pelt. I'm not lebatard. I'm not you know what I mean? I'm not
these dudes. And so I'm not going to try to be I'm I think
that's the biggest thing I've learned from the first week is
I can still stay in my lane. And I can screw this thing up like
procedurally, you know, the the struck, I'm not going to have
these great transitions from one thing to the next. But I think
if we're just talking ball
and I'm sharing exactly what I'm doing, I think there's a small audience that might be interested
as we continue to move forward. I think a large audience. You have Levitard scripting out the first
segment. Is that the way you have the show? No, but I do watch Levitard every once in a while.
When he wants to get serious, he'll come out and it's brilliant.
I mean, he was a writer first, right?
Yes.
And I know Levitard refuses to ever talk to me.
The closest I'll ever get to your show is talking to you guys.
It's really what you represent.
What you represent is something that he hates, and that's the draft.
You sound sad about that, like disappointed that you're stuck with us.
No, I'm the only person who has a feud with somebody who just because they refuse to get
to know me. I'm flying down to one Miami one day and we're gonna go out to dinner. We're
gonna we're gonna solve this thing. I know it's the draft stuff. I know he hates the
draft. I think if you fly down to Miami, we're gonna go out to dinner. Yeah, without love.
Yeah, he won't show up. Yeah, because you represent something he hates. I mean, I understand that.
But my point is like he'll start crying and he'll he'll beautifully land a plane.
And like I can't do that. Right. You know, I'm just like that's not my talent.
I understand. I'm trying to figure out how to stay in my lane and not not muck it up on the way.
When's the last time you cried? Oh yeah.
I love a good cry.
I didn't cry when I got laid off. You didn't.
It sounds almost like in a strange way, Todd,
and I could be reading too much into this,
it sounds almost like it was kind of like a weight
was lifted when that happened.
Not necessarily something you would have done,
but you are almost grateful in a sense that it happened.
He's landed in a good spot.
Yeah. Yeah. It was not the plan. My plan was to work for ESPN the rest of my
career. I'll be totally honest. Um,
they wanted me to come back and do TV at some point and do the draft. Like,
I'm here, you know? So it's not,
I never had this intention and maybe I should have,
but after I got over the initial phase of, you know, disappointment
and all the emotions that come with something like that,
and started to talk to people who are doing this thing at a high level
and started to talk to my agency, there's life after and there's opportunities.
Yeah, I'm happy, man.
I'm happy. Yeah, I swear happy, man. I'm happy.
So it's Yeah, I swear. It's like it's different. So it's a good
thing.
Who'd you lean on in terms of making this decision? Was Mel
involved at all? Like who?
I talked to Mel Moore, I talked to Mel Moore in seven months.
Then I ever did. I'm Mel and I probably talked in 13 years together doing the draft.
We probably talked, I don't know, 30, 40 times in 13 years on the phone, just side conversation,
not like together driving to the hotel from Bristol and going to the draft. I'm talking just
like pick up the phone and call. He's always always been a friend But he became a close friend and the advice he gave me
Like lifting me up
the confidence that he had
It was impactful man. It was like
41 you like I could still hear him in my ear right now 41 years. I've been doing this Todd
I'm gonna be 64. I'm about to have a grandchild I promise you if if you gave me an opportunity where one year where I'm gonna you know be part
of a package where you get paid for a year and you can take it off I would take it in a heartbeat
so enjoy it like stop I remember him like stop stop worrying about what's next. Take a year, be with your kids, be with your family,
make, you know, get healthy, get right,
do things for you.
And that was hugely impactful, hugely impactful.
How's Kirk Cignetti doing it?
Games aren't even close.
They're just blowing people out.
What a great transition.
I love you, man.
Wow.
He's the best.
Wow.
No, no, he knew, listen, we. Wow. He's the best. Wow.
No, no, he knew, listen, we needed it.
He gave it to us and now you have to.
Yeah, it was getting like too sappy and emotional.
No one cares.
Yeah, no, they do.
People care, but Billy, that was the timing was perfect.
It was that or you would still got to wearing the exact same outfit, which is really distracting
right now.
Yeah, it's weird.
Well, he's got a sponsorship.
I'm still working on mine.
Listen, not everything on my body is for free. Okay.
Now it's either for free or he's trying to get it free. Just
meds walk in front of you is I know that much for sure.
signetti signetti. It's interesting because so my the
guy I worked with, I talked to you about Steve Mensch, there
were three of us it was myself, Mensch and Kevin Weidl. And
Kevin Weidl and his whole family like they he was with me for 12
years. He's now he's now scouting with the Baltimore
Ravens Kevin was he's always talking about signetting IUP
like long history. And he's a different cat. And so I've known
I've known about signetting before signetting was even
anybody, you know, when he was at IUP. And so to see him rise up the ranks and to win and Google me and all this
stuff has been kind of fun to watch.
Cause I've had this like connection with him without knowing him.
But you know, while he's like a different cat is the best way I can put it in
terms of like socially and all that his attention to detail, his confidence in
his plan and what he's doing his leadership from top to bottom
you can see it on the field they are not the most talented team they are not you know an
undefeated team in terms of just pure dudes on the field but they don't make many mistakes
they believe in what they're doing defensively they're buttoned up offensively they they
understand who they are it's it's really cool to watch. And he's,
I just love it. And I also like,
I have some friends who were really deep ties at Indiana football.
It's a basketball school. There's no question about it,
but what's different between like Indiana and maybe even Kentucky,
I don't know, is they absolutely freaking love their football.
And they, they've been starved for something like this.
So it's been fun to watch.
They should enjoy it now
because it ain't gonna be there for long.
Why not?
I mean, because he's headed to Ohio State next year.
He's gonna take a bigger job.
I mean, come on, why would he stay in Indiana?
I do here.
I mean, you get online, like,
can you imagine having the win percentage, the
recruiting, the talent, everything that you've done in your Ryan Day?
And they're like, f*** Ryan Day, bring in Signe.
We want Signe.
Can you imagine?
No.
A guy that they didn't know about two years ago.
Wait guys, Ryan Day is 56 and eight.
It's unbelievable.
Like how spoiled are you?
It's ridiculous.
But I don't know.
And I promise you this.
Signet.
He like, yeah, they go beat Michigan.
And he's Ohio State coach.
There he's going to annoy their fan base too.
He's not going to be as accessible. He's not gonna, like, he's not
going to recruit maybe some of that, but whatever it is, as
long as he beats Michigan, though, Todd, that's all that
matters, right? Herbs Herbstreet always talks about it's the
greatest fan base in the world, except for the 1510 15%,
whatever you want to put that number, the lunatic fringe,
right? He talks about it it like the Ohio State lunatic
fringe is up there with any fan base. It's just they're so loud
that it drowns out like the other 85% of like rational, good
human beings like all those. It's just that lunatic fringe is
special.
Topics Jay is with us the mix a show a new show part of the the ringer and wherever you get your podcast it is available. Todd McShea is with us. The McShea show, a new show, part of the the Ringer and wherever you get your podcast, it is available. I am wondering here, lot and a lot I had to say to myself because I was
Didn't really have an outlet last year except going on Rossellos every Monday. So I guess I just said it's Ryan a lot, right? Um,
Caleb special okay, I mean and we're seeing it we didn't see it for three and a half quarters yesterday
But we've seen it like the last five or so games
He's special. He's got I'm not saying he's ever gonna be Mahomes.
He's only won Mahomes,
but he had a lot of those same traits where it's sloppy.
Footwork's not there, but my God, can he create
and can he do special things with the football
that most guys just can't do?
So as a whole, I had a slight,
I think it was like 96 and 95 on a hundred grade scale,
like two of the higher grades I've given out in a long time
ever at the quarterback position. But Jaden, I had it's
like a third rounder coming into the year. And I remember two
years ago, being on the field with Brian Kelly with Jaden and
being like, listen, Todd, like I know you evaluate these guys.
Like, I promise you what I see in practice is a guy who can
anticipate throws, who who can throw to spots that you don't
see always on tape. I need and I'm pissed because it was before
the Tennessee game when they had Hendon Hooker and Tennessee was
rolling, right? And they and they got rolled up that day.
LSU did too. But it was I was on the field like 20 minutes before
kick and he's he's walking me through he's like, he's like the worst thing is he's like, I But it was, I was on the field like 20 minutes before kick and he's,
he's walking me through, he's like, he's like, the worst thing is, he's like, I know it's not you,
but like the media, every, especially locally is like, Oh, Jayden's doing great. He hasn't thrown
interception. He's like, I'm dying for this kid to throw an interception. Cause I want to prove to
him that it won't be the end of the world. Like we're going to be all right. He's like, I just
need him to rip it and trust his eyes.
He's like, he has to see a receiver come open very first, first play of that game.
It was a comeback route on the left side.
And I could tell by the conversation I had with him and then the, how the play
unfolded, he was like, listen, I don't care if you throw a pick six here, get
the ball out on time, trust your receiver, trust the play call.
And he did, and he ripped it it and it was a beautiful throw to the
left. And I said that was the first time I saw like Jayden's
not just a phenomenal athlete who can run in the four threes
and can make some deep throws and do some beautiful things
when the play breaks down. If he trusts his mind and his eyes,
he's going to get to a point where he can do special things
too. And so from that point on, he kept getting
better and better and better anticipating things, trusting
the offense, trusting his eyes. And then we saw the following
year he put together the season that that he had. And I said it
so many times to Rossello. If if I was dropped on this planet
and said, Alright, here's the 2023 tape of Caleb 2023 tape of Jayden. I'm taking Jayden.
He had a better season. I see it more. It's just it's more trans translates better. But
I've seen the whole career of Caleb. And I know what he's capable of. So I gave them almost
identical grades love both of them. I was slightly higher. I was a nine I think 96
and 95. For those two quarterbacks coming in and Drake
May was was number three on that list. But there was a little
there was a noticeable gap between the first two guys and
Drake May. So that's that's where I stand. It surprises me
because no rookie should be playing the way Jaden has
played. It's crazy. Yes.
It's crazy.
Yes.
He just like no rookie should ever have the rookie year that
he's had.
You can argue.
I know he missed the time and he wasn't great yesterday before
the Hail Mary and all that.
But you could argue that he's the MVP of the league.
I said it this morning.
You can argue that easily by the way.
I mean, Washington was a disaster before he got there.
And what he's done to that whole, the whole organization, like the
confidence has been instilled and there's, there's a lot of scouting.
I know we don't have to deep dive, but there's a lot of scouting stuff here.
Like the same, the same offense he was running his senior year with a
Denver rock who's now at Notre Dame is a very similar offense to what he's,
what he's running now. So the transition wasn't that hard form playing more ball
transferring from Arizona State to LSU and being in different
systems and playing is getting as much game experience as he
had. That's critical too. And so I think I think some young
quarterbacks can learn from his journey. hate the word journey.
But his his experience in college and the fact that
playing more games is critical. Because when he got to the NFL, right?
He was ready. Yeah, and it's rare to see that a quarterback is absolutely ready and Jayden Daniels has been ready
I taught another guy that was ready and he surprised me and I'm wondering where you had him like how you had him rated is
Bo Nicks. He's been good. Bo Nicks has been very good this year. I
Didn't have a first- round grade on him, man. Really? And I
said this, like, it's either going to be one of the most
arrogant mistake that has been made in that organization, or
it's going to be, you know, we're gonna see, we're gonna
see Sean Payton just thrive. And this is going to be the
greatest decision he's made and been a part of personnel wise. And early on I was like, this is the this is the
bow nix that I kind of thought that we could see. But he's gaining confidence and the trust
and confidence that Sean has in bow. Yeah, that that's another case study. Like,
Yeah. That that's another case study. Like, not wavering
undoubtedly. And I even said I said to Ryan, like week two or week three. I wonder if Sean regrets being so confident in
Bo, like publicly, not privately. That's what you have
to be. But publicly, like, I remember watching clips of Diana
Racine on I know you guys have a great relationship with,
and like when she was a training camp
and just raving about this guy,
like he was a five year vet who had proven himself.
And I was like, is he setting him up for failure publicly?
And then he comes out and he didn't play great
in the first few games, but to see the growth that he has,
and I think part of it is that unwavering confidence
that he's the guy. And Sean has done great things with him so far.
And yeah, he's playing good.
I was worried about him.
And I don't let me also say this.
I'm not sure he would have this kind of success this early that he's had in recent weeks.
If it was with anybody else, not to say that Sean's the only one who could develop them.
It makes sense.
But the fit was brilliant.
Yes. And he believes in him.
So that's that's also a big part of it.
We're wondering because we were talking earlier today about
Jared Goff like the MVP, Jaden Daniels.
It could also be Jared Goff.
Did you have Goff being this good?
What was your no, no, I really had him as the first quarterback.
I remember being I'll never forget being out at the Cal pro day, right? And
you're out in Berkeley and it's just different setting and all
the redwood trees in the background. And you know, it's
not like you're going down, down to Tuscaloosa for a pro day or
Columbus. That's a when you're scouting and you're going to all
these things every year, you're you're familiar with these
settings. And it feels
like I've been here before. Now, I remember being out of Cal. And
and just and watching it and it just it felt different. It's
hard to explain. It just didn't feel it didn't feel nothing. It
wasn't first class. It didn't feel like the right setting for
it. Right. And then golf, remember that with nine inch hands
or nine and one eighths inch,
that was a big topic of conversation.
So now here we are with this big setting
and the redwood trees and the hippie campus
and all this stuff.
And you've got, I think it was a Cleveland Browns
quarterback coach at the time,
it's got him dumped before every drop back,
taking the NFL football and putting it in a barrel of water. I'm like,
this just feels weird. You know, like, it's torture. Yeah, you
know, but they want to test Can he throw a wet football? So I
liked him. I thought he could in the right system be successful.
I was I was really surprised. You know, they go to a Super
Bowl with them and McVeigh is like, I need what was
this line? I need a I need a partner here. Yeah, not not a
mentor role or something. Something along those lines.
paraphrasing. Yes. And and I understood that but it still was
surprising. And I thought to myself, because remember at that
time, like we've seen Baker now we're seeing Sam Darnold like
you like retread quarterbacks was not a
thing your first spot didn't work out based off history you were done you're
done right yeah you're done of course and so I'm like oh golf's done and he's
going to Detroit and Matthew Stafford like anyone who studies tape and like
knows this game Matthew Stafford if Matt can who studies tape and like knows this game, Matthew Stafford,
if Matt can't do it, nobody can.
Like almost nobody in the world can do it.
And now Jared's going to Detroit.
He's done.
Right.
See what he's done.
And Brad Holmes, like talk about confidence and believing in a guy and Brad Holmes, the
general manager, seeing what he saw in him. And like, I remember reporters
after the first year, like, I do, obviously working in the
draft. It's like, all right, draft needs Detroit, it was like
quarterback, you know, golf is a placeholder. He's a bridge the
gap guy. But they if they're going to take the next step,
they need to they need to draft a quarterback early. And he I
remember watching a press conference where he's like, What are you guys
talking about? We got our guy, right? And I still like the quarterback top three
needs like they're getting there. They're just they're playing coy. But he
believed in him. And that organization believed in him. And Ben Johnson, the
coordinator is a big part of it, too. He's one of the brilliant minds in the
NFL, on the offensive side and, and
watching them, not only did they get them to a level where he's like, they can win,
they can win without him screwing it up. Like he is now to a level where he's one
of the 10 best quarterbacks in the league, maybe seven, wherever that number
is. And they're winning a lot of times because of him. How about Jameer Gibbs?
So good.
Like Brad Holmes.
For a while we didn't talk about Brett Veach in Kansas City,
the general manager and the job that he did because it's all
about Andy Reed and my homes.
Right.
And Brad Holmes to me is one of the great GMs in the NFL.
It was a big F you.
I get all these draft picks and we're going to take a running back and get mocked and we're
going to take an inside linebacker and get mocked and
look at them now. You know, like in a tight end, then I think
it was early second round just a couple years ago, the board
look at those guys out and Jameer Gibbs. I mean, every time
I look up he's going for like a 40 plus yard touchdown run.
Yeah.
Todd, it's nice to go down memory lane and all that,
but I'm a Jets fan, so I'm already looking to next year and
the quarterbacks coming out there.
He's are yeah, I mean we have to, but like this year almost
more than others. I feel like every week there's a different
name. We're hearing is this is the best quarterback coming out.
So right now as it stands, how do you
have them rated coming out? It's so it's interesting. You talked to NFL scouts, right? And early in the
year, it was like, yeah, this is the Kenny Pickett, Malik Willis draft, like these quarterbacks, you
know, sounds like a jet strapped. Yeah. It's gotten better.
But every time you want to like this, this week I was watching old miss.
I'm not on this.
Um, a and MLSU and Garrett Nussmeyer.
I just love, I still call it draft draft Twitter, but draft X it's like all of a sudden it was
17 seven and I'm going through the feed quickly because I'm getting ready for my first Saturday night show. And
it was like this orgy of draft geniuses on X, like clamoring
over each other like no, I had him first. No, he's my guy. No,
I had him QB one four months ago. Meanwhile, he hadn't seen
started. He started a bowl game last year. So like, it's just
interesting to see because and remember, first half
of first half of Alabama, Georgia was like Jalen Milro QB
one. Yeah, I knew all along and then you get you watch countdown
with greenie and and and he's talking to field gates in the
in the makeup room. And why not Jalen Milro QB one, you know, he could be developed and we saw
Jalen hurt. And so like, it's just funny in a year when you
don't have Caleb Williams, right? You don't have Jaden
Daniels and you don't have Drake may how like everyone is so
freaking eager to like, tap on that shoulder and be like, he's
my guy. He's mine. No, no, no, I had him first. Well, maybe there's
when we're fighting over that, maybe there's not one elite guy.
I can tell you this right now. Shador Sanders, without
question, has had the best tape of any quarterback this year in
the country. Amazing. And and everyone wants to dislike him
because his dad's going to block him from going to Carolina and and a handful of other places that he potentially could go and however that all plays out.
But should door Sanders after that Nebraska picked six and that tape has been absolutely lights out there protecting him a little bit better which is, it's hard to protect them any worse than they were early in the season, but every game he's gotten better more confident playing within structure
He's the best pure passer in this class. I know he's not overly mobile
He extends plays but he is not a guy that threatens you with his legs to run
But but I think from an NFL passing perspective. He has the most
tools to work with
Cam Ward is exceptional.
His his gift like his tools, his escape ability, his arm, like I
don't know if you guys saw a couple weeks ago, like that
throw 4248 yards back to the end zone. Yes. Unbelievable,
raising. Yeah, not many guys can do that. But there's four or
five plays every game where you're like, you know, like
careful, like that's not he's not going to get away with in the NFL.
And then there's another three or four throws. Like you gotta make that.
That's that's a layup. So I think cam ward has a lot of potential.
I think should door is the best quarterback prospect in this class.
I think they're both first round guys. I think Jalen Milro is absolutely the
wild card of all of us.
I think he probably would would benefit from going back another year and continuing to develop. He's made great. Remember,
he was benched midway through last season. Right. You know, like, so to see the strides he's made
in just over a year, really one year from that point, and to see where he is now and to see him
have that first half against Georgia. There's a lot to be excited about and his ability to run is second to none in this class.
But I think he could use another year.
I don't know if he'll wind up doing that or not.
It depends on how he finishes this season.
What happens in the SEC Championship game if they're in it?
What happens in the playoff if they're in it?
And if he finishes great, then yeah, he'll probably get a late first round grade and
go somewhere in the middle of the first round because a
team is going to bet on the upside.
But if I were advising him, I'd say, let's see how the season plays out.
And if it's still kind of up and down roller coaster style, then let's, let's
strongly consider going back another year and developing and then Garrett Nussmeier.
Phenomenal for the vast majority.
I think his tape is up there.
I wouldn't say what should doors, but I would say he's been the second best quarterback in terms of like,
no, I would say it's it's should or cam ward and then just tape wise Nussmeyer.
But then he makes that mistake and then three interceptions and the wheels come off
and Nussmeyer has another year too.
And we talked about Jaden Daniels,
how important game experience was for him
in this rookie year he's having.
I think Nussmeier should go back to LSU for another year
and gain that experience.
We'll get you out of here in a second.
We appreciate the time.
Where does Ewers fall into that?
Is he a first round pick or?
Ewers, after the Michigan game,
another guy just climbing over bodies.
I had you were QB one.
You were right.
It's just unbelievable.
Like, why do we have to?
Why do we have to declare right now?
You know, well, you got to be the first one to declare.
You got to say that guy first, right?
Yeah, that's my guy.
It wasn't me.
It was a Kiper.
It was exactly.
Exactly.
And that's why Kiper will put a player.
He's got a number 40 on his board up at 25 and sneak him in.
Yeah. The fall, the fall elevation.
Yeah, classic.
No, but but viewers is in that conversation.
There's no question.
I would say right now for me, it's it's Shador one cam war two
mill roads, like big asterisks next to him, but three based off of potential
Nussmeyer four, but again, probably should return and gain
more experience one year as a starter. Look at the history of
it dating back to Sanchez you guys know well coming out of
USC. So I would say Nussmeyer yours and then Carson back in
Carson back. Oh, yeah, was ever you know, everybody's no, it was
Milro in the first half and back in the second half. Yeah. Yeah. Can I
get the combo? Oh, that's funny. Uh the McShay show. It
is a part of the Ringer. It's available wherever you get
your podcast three days a week. Uh you look happy man. You
really do and I'm happy for you. We're all happy for you. So
uh good luck with the new show. We're here for you whenever you

I appreciate you too. Stegas. You asked me before like people
you were one of them, the people who I reached out to and people
who reached out to me and I'll never forget that because you've
got your persona and everyone knows all your all your flaws and we love you for them.
Thank you.
But but you were there like real real techs back and forth and being honest and and keeping me on top of some stuff.
So I appreciate you and I'll never forget that.
All right. Well, I appreciate you say that, man.
Good luck with the show.
And I know it's going to be great.

the
yo boys what's up Billy decided he had more important things to do than you know do our show and spend a little time with our friend Chris Sims huh
Wow what's why what's he got to do today what's he doing
I don't know Halloween
stuff, I guess. I mean, you
don't even know like you're his
boss. You just let him just
say I don't show up and it's
like, I don't know where he
goes. I mean, damn, where can I
get that boss? Yeah, well, hold
on. Mikey, he's got this all
wrong. You think I'm Billy's
boss? I mean, well, I mean,
you're higher up. I think I
don't know. I don't know. I'm
not sure. Actually, you're
right. I'm not sure. Well, I am higher up, but
they're Billy doesn't listen to
a word I say like, no, that's
not how it works around here.
Billy's just an organizer,
though. So you're his boss.
Like, I don't know what the
**** How do you guys let him
out of this? This is
disgraceful. Are you
disgraceful? You're upset by
it, right? You feel you're
personally offended and you
should be. Yes. Yep. Yep.
Screw him. Well, we know it'll
be a smarter, more cordial conversation. Screw him. Well, we know
it'll be a smarter, more
cordial conversation today
without him. So, that'll be
better. BFD with Mike Florio
every day on Peacock, the
Up Button Podcast, Football
Night in America. Mikey, Mikey
and I were discussing right
before you came on Anthony
Richardson and him tapping out
and saying he's tired and god
forbid a guy who runs that
physically says he's tired for
I mean Jesus the NFL everyone
climbed down climbed down his
back. What were your thoughts
on that whole thing because I
think Joe Flacco is the better
quarterback is the better
option gives them the better
chance to win but that's a
weird way to get yourselves
back to Joe Flacco. Yeah. No.
Well, it is. It is. I mean, first off, listen, that that has never been seen ever in the
history of football. I never. Chris, we've never seen a
quarterback run that physically in the history of football.
Maybe Cam Newton. Oh, Cam Newton. I mean, come on. We
always watch Lamar Johnson run seven miles every game. We see
Josh Allen run everywhere every game. Yeah, we're watching
Jayden Daniels run everywhere in every game. They're not tapping out. I mean
what he ran two plays in a row. Ask Ryan Kelly, the center,
some of the linemen, they're going, wait on some of those
run plays on that drive. You just hand the ball off and
watched. We were still blocking and working. Right. You tapped
out. You're supposed to be the leader of the team. That's not
a good look. I think that's just a microcosm of why he's being benched,
is that right there.
OK.
I think there's more to it.
Right?
And I think it's whether it's maturity,
just learning how to work and be ready for the game on a Sunday,
all that.
I think that there's a little of the players have spoken out
a little bit.
And then add the fact of what you're saying.
Joe Flacco gives them the better chance right now. Now, is that
the right decision? Hey, listen, it's a good conversation.
Anthony Richardson's good is really good, right? Yeah. It's
just as bad as really bad and it's hard to win a game 10 for
32, 8 for 24. Those are the stat lines we're seeing right
now. Misthrow, misthrow, misthrow, bad decision, misthrow,
misthrow, misthrow. Whoa, what a throw. Mist throw, mist throw, bad decision,
mist throw, mist throw. Whoa, what a throw. That's what it is watching them right now.
And that's hard to win on a consistent basis. And I think between probably some of the immaturity
things and then what goes on in the field, I think that it was hard for Shane Stikin
to sell that to his locker room anymore,
that they were putting their best guy out there
in Anthony Richardson,
and I think that's why they go with Joe Flacco.
It ain't over for Anthony Richardson.
They know how talented he is.
They just, last year's injury kicked the can down the road
to this year in development,
and he didn't get the off season last year and all that.
So yeah, there's still some work to be done,
but they're not gonna give up on him in Indianapolis.
There's no way, because like you said,
the high end talent is real deal.
Yeah, but Mikey, he's so right about that.
No one can make two quarters of bad quarterback play go away
with a single throw like Anthony Richardson.
Oh, it's amazing.
And then what Shane Steichen is doing,
and managing games and keeping them in it, right,
with that style of play is truly phenomenal.
Now this week is where I think with Joe Flacco, you got to play the Vikings, right?
And again, he's more experienced.
They have a passing game.
The Vikings are one of the best teams in football at stopping the run.
So if it was, you know, Anthony Richardson and just a run game and a few passes here
and there totally plays in the favor of the Vikings. Anthony Richardson with all the stuff Minnesota does
at the line of scrimmage. Joe Flacco makes them more dangerous. He's going to be able
to check plays, get different protections, just more comfortable because of experience
through the years in that in that element. And that's where I think, you know, that's
where the value in Joe Flacco and starting him right now.
Chris, what'd you make of how well Jamis Winston played last week?
I mean, crazy. I'm a Jamis fan. Right. Well, the first thing you say is,
what the **** would Cleveland look like if they played Jamis four weeks ago?
Yes. I mean, Stefanski's a great coach when he's coaching a team that doesn't
have Deshaun Watson as quarterback. The defense is an all-star defense.
It's still one of the best in football. It's even better than
the one that's statistically ranked because again with
Deshaun Watson, a quarterback of his three plays punt, three
plays punt, three plays punt. I don't care what defense you
are. If you're the 85 Bears, you're going to break down
eventually with that formula. You need the offense to give
you a rest, get a little momentum, put you in a position
of power from time to time on the defensive side of the
ball.
They never got that.
They're going to be dangerous here.
Watching that film on Tuesday, I mean, all you need to do
is view and you, me, and Mikey sat down and watched the film.
You'd go, oh my gosh.
Yeah, I guess Deshaun Watson was holding him back.
First off, he didn't make any of these throws.
Second off, the offense was totally different.
They were way more creative and schematically
did different things and aggressive that way,
which shows you that they weren't comfortable
calling some of those plays with Deshaun Watson.
So, Jameis Winston was awesome in the football game.
The Ravens defense is not good.
People gotta stop thinking Ravens defense.
The Ravens defense sucks.
They stopped the run, they can't stop the pass at all. They can't rush the passer
with their front four. They got issues there but man, James, I
think adds some juice to that Cleveland football team and I
think they're going to be dangerous here going forward.
Chris, they're two and six. They take on the Chargers. When
you say they're going to be dangerous, you're not thinking
playoff dangerous, are you? Like, I'm not going to say that
yet, but would I be shocked that they they string together a bunch of wins here and all of a sudden we're
sitting here a few weeks from now going like damn they're they're eight and eight
and if they can win the last two games here or one of the last two they might
squeak in with some help or something like that I think they have that type of
capability the Chargers are favored by a point and a half in this football game
they're really kind of very similar teams in your face defense, right? They want to
run the ball. Cleveland with Chubb is getting there. They're not quite where they want to
be that way. I took Cleveland to win the game because I just don't think the Chargers have
enough firepower on offense to beat that Cleveland defense consistently. And like I said, this
Cleveland offense,
I think is something to be reckoned with a little bit now
with Jamis at the helm.
Do you expect the Ravens?
Cause they got Deontay Johnson, but they need defense.
You're right.
And they have one of those kinds of losses
every year, man.
They have losses like that.
Usually in the playoffs,
they're getting them out of their system.
But do you expect them to get some defensive help
before the deadline?
Well, first off, I feel like the Ravens get a free pass.
Everyone anointed them the Kings and the best team in football.
And I'm going to be like, what?
They're five and three.
They could have lost some other games, too.
Yes.
I don't understand, just because there's
a love affair for Lamar, which I understand.
He's awesome.
But everyone's just like, oh, Lamar and Derrick Henry,
they're going to the Super Bowl.
Like what?
First off, they get a little pass happy.
Again, last week, Cleveland, if there's
a problem with their defense, you can run the ball.
They run the ball 11 times.
I don't understand that.
And yet the defense has started the ball.
Stu gots has got issues.
It does, yeah.
With the trade for Deontay Johnson.
And yeah, they need another corner or somebody like
that or a pass rusher, something of that element. But obviously that's not presented itself in a
trade package or anything like that. I think with the Deontay Johnson thing, they just showed you,
forget it, we're just going to outscore everybody. That's what they're opting to do.
They're going to whatever. And I would say this, and I said this on my pod Wednesday,
opting to do. They're going to whatever. And I would say this, and I said this on my pod Wednesday.
When Baltimore tries to rush four and play zone
or some side of coverage behind it,
they're wasting their time.
Just walk off the field and go drink Gatorade,
because the team always gets a big play.
They're better.
Blitz every play.
Go crazy.
Send the house.
Send the house.
Maybe you tip a pass, strip sack fumble, get an interception.
Nonetheless, let them go.
If they don't, let them go down and score and get your offense
back on the field.
I would play a little more like Detroit does.
Detroit goes, you're either going three and out,
or you're going to go down and score real quick.
But either way, Jared Gov in the company
are coming back on the field, and we're
going to attack, attack, attack. And can you keep pace with us? And I feel like Baltimore needs to do that.
Stop trying to be like the 2012 Baltimore Ravens. That day is done.
I think John Horbaugh would tell both of us, he would tell both of us,
Kyle Hamilton catches that pass. We win that game. You're not saying what you're saying right now.
Well, yeah. I mean, I would still question the defense. No. The defense was bad enough.
And even with that play right there,
it looked like he should have caught it.
We know that.
Elijah Moore f**ked Jamis Winston there.
He was running on a certain angle
and as Jamis is throwing the ball,
he did a shake and ran a different direction.
So that really screwed it up.
People want to make fun of Jamis and go,
whoa, he'll give you one of those every game.
That was more on Elijah Moore, but your points real, but I still think
and I've been saying this even before last week, their defense
is a problem and that trade for Deontay Johnson, that to me
kind of shows you they're going to go, you know, screw it.
We're going to go offense and try to outscore everybody.
Sims, walk us through the final play of Commander's Bears last
weekend. Like just walk us through what's going on in your head. Like what you're
saying. You're in the studio. You're watching that game
unfold. He throws a sixty-five yard, seventy yard Hail Mary.
There's a guy celebrating off to the side who's not prepared
for the play. What were Chris Simms' thoughts as that whole
thing unfolded because Jaden Daniels, man, he might be the
MVP of the NFL this year. Well, I don't want to go. I'm not
going to go that far.
He's not the MVP.
He can't throw seven touchdowns and only three interceptions
to be the MVP.
But he's still good.
The commanders are so bad for so long.
And the difference is Jaden Daniels.
I know.
Yes, no.
And he's added juice to the organization.
And he's playing awesome.
There's no doubt about that.
Like really good.
OK, I broke this down on my pod too. The biggest
flaw at this end of the football game was the second to last play. That's to me the
number one flaw. That's where it starts. If you go back and watch the end of the first
half, Washington tried to throw some out routes to get in field goal position to get a great
field goal before the half, before halftime. Bears played the defense of protect the sideline. On the
second to last play of the game, Washington was on the 35 yard line and the Bears had
nobody within 40 yards of the line of scrimmage as far as coverage guys. They just had the
three down linemen. Everybody was back. Why? Why would you let them throw a 10 or 15 yard
out route with six seconds left? I mean, why they can't throw it. He can't throw
at 80. He's not going to be able to throw the line of scrimmage
being from the 35 and probably have to be seven or eight yards
behind the line of scrimmage and throw it. He doesn't have that
kind of arm. It's not that kind of arm. Why wouldn't you
protect the sidelines and invite them to throw the ball over the
middle and the game is over. It's over. So that's where the
dumbness started and to let them get that 13 yard completion to the 48 yard line that allowed them
to throw the Hail Mary and then the Bears who were undisciplined, Caleb and the offense played like
crap all day long, down some magic late. They did not play good at all. Caleb played bad. It was a
bad game by Caleb. He went in there going, I'm going to show Jayden. I'm from, this is my hometown. I'm going to show everybody I'm the man. He
came in with a preconceived notion of how he wanted the game to go instead of just playing
the game. And that hurt them. But then on the last play, I mean, I'm yelling. I was
yelling on the second to last play, but on the last play we're sitting in the studio,
getting ready for the show and I'm watching it happen.
And of course, we just went crazy yelling because it was probably about 630, 645.
Yeah, maybe even a little later than that.
And we were just about to start the show or maybe had started the show.
We all went crazy yelling about it and the Tyreek Stevenson crap and everything along with it.
What's worse, the Stevenson crap or tap it out?
Anthony Richardson. I mean, come on. Thank you. That's a good one there. I mean, why
is Stevenson still playing? Huh? I mean, yeah. I mean, the Stevenson one's bad. That's bad.
First off, he had a personal foul in the game. He was John all game long. He got beat and
didn't play all that well in the football game altogether. Then he's going to try to rub it in the crowd's faces,
not do his assignment, then run over there the last second,
tip the ball in the air.
I'll give him the crown over that one.
Anthony Richardson, his heart's in the right place.
He's just got to mature and run some win sprints,
OK, during the week.
I mean, we can't run out of breath at quarterback, OK?
You can't do that. Sorry. That's not in the rule book. But yeah, I would go Tyree
Stevenson was worse than Anthony Richardson. Mike, here's the deal. You're not allowed
to be tired in the NFL or at least you're not allowed to acknowledge it publicly. Not
as a quarterback. You could be tired. You can be tired, but yeah, you can't be the leader
of the offense and like, oh, you ran two plays in a row when the offense aligned while you were running around. It's like, and then the
twenties plays before that were like, and they're working the whole time. And it's like,
Oh, you work two plays and you want to come out now. That's a bunch of BS. So yes, you
can't do that. Does any other excuse work there? Like, Hey, the shoulder pad kind of
fell out of place. I had to get it back. That it could have, right? And you have an equipment, the equipment issue, right? My strap fell off, whatever. Yeah, do that. But don't tap out because you're tired in a big moment in the football. And then put the offense of Joe Flacco in that position. Yeah, that's not fair to them either. That's where it's a, it's just not the that guy or that we've been promised for like years? Is this
is this that guy or are we just waiting for it to go down again? He's been no no yeah
he's been good no it's been good and and Mike yeah I think he has turned the corner I do
now again I don't think they're super talented to where I just think they're definitely going
to the playoffs are going to make some big run here I think there'll be a pain in the
butt all year long I think ultimately they're not a playoff team,
but probably upset some teams playoff dreams
and are in the mix here throughout.
They're tough.
They're pretty well-coached.
I think if we talk to most people on the street,
they wouldn't be able to tell you a player
on the Arizona Cardinal defense, right?
Off the top of your head,
you probably only know Buddha Baker and that's about it.
Yep.
And for most fans out there. Off offensively, they do lack firepower. Marvin Harrison Jr. is
very good. He's not the guy that's going to beat you 80 yards deep for a touchdown. He's very good
though. And there's no doubt about that. Trey McBride is one of the better tight ends in football
and James Connor is literally like, you know, the Terminator Connor guy, like he just physical tough as hell,
whatever, right. But to your point, my guy, Kyler in the pocket, tougher, making more
closed or tight window throws, pocket collapsing, not just abandoning ship and going on out
of here, go go gadget legs, I'm running, that's what I trust. Standing in there, throwing big throws off his back foot,
showing a little edge and leadership this year.
I think we've seen a different Kyler Murray.
That was a big time game last week.
Listen, that was never easy for them.
They scored points in the second half
because Kyler Murray was tough and made big time plays
and throws and big moments.
It wasn't like, oh, he's wide open.
He's wide open.
Oh, they're running the ball everywhere on them.
No, it wasn't.
It was playmaking.
So I got him losing a close one to Chicago this week,
but I wouldn't bet on it because I think Chicago's
a little more talented.
But no, I think Kyler Murray in this style of play
is here to stay, Mikey.
I think he's turned a corner.
I do.
Chris, the biggest play of that game, the best
play of that game, in my opinion, that game in my opinion and the play that ended
up winning them the game and this is why Kyler Murray is so
good was that third down run by Murray that was so great like
he's one of I don't know how many quarterbacks can make that
play, but he's one of them, man. I mean again, I've seen
Kyler Murray run around for 74 seconds in plays and never tap
out of the game just to let you know, okay?
Never.
I've seen him do it like multiple plays in a row
and be like, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom,
throw it away, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom.
I ran for 20, zoom, zoom, zoom.
I threw it for 15 and he doesn't go,
hey coach, I'm tired, I need to come out.
Hey, I get it, I got it, okay?
Okay, all right, I know.
It's happening organically.
I don't know, it just happened that way.
You keep proving the point.
It was perfect, right. It was perfect.
But yes, his running, he's still one of the best runners in football.
And then toughness there on that run.
Like, that play looked like he was going to lose five yards.
And then he stayed patient. He puts his foot in the ground and goes upfield
and kind of takes a hit and bounces off it and gets a few extra yards.
That's what I'm talking about in his toughness, let alone those last two or three drives. He made a throw or two
on each of those drives where you're like, oh my gosh, I mean, he's about to get hit. The guy's not
even out of the break and he makes an unbelievable throw with pressure and tight coverage. Yeah, he's
dangerous. He really is. And they're a team that's on the up and up.
They're not there yet, but like another off season of just now they just need some splash players,
right? Nina's another star on offense, another star two one defense. And I'd go watch out for
Arizona going forward. They got the beaten potatoes of their football team. Now it's time
to get some sizzle. And I think that's kind of where they are in their, their world right now.
to get some sizzle and I think that's kind of where they are in their world right now. I'm going to borrow this from Stu Gotts, game for your life, best game Kyler Murray has or
best game Jamis Winston has. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. I'd probably take Kyler Murray. Yeah,
I'd probably take Kyler Murray, but you know, Jamis is capable of his potential in big games. I mean,
he's thrown for 5,000 yards. He's
thrown for, he's led the NFL and touchdowns, but we know he's led the NFL interceptors.
I feel like a Jamis greatest game you've ever seen is going to be like 450, four touchdowns,
but probably two interceptions and maybe a fumble that he recovered, right? Right? Something like that. Sure. Where Kyler's best game is going to be like 355,
three touchdowns, maybe one interception,
but then also like four or five, like, holy runs
for like 80 or 90 yards, right?
And I just, yeah, that to me is a little bit more dangerous.
I'll take Kyler there.
James would have a tackle in that game though too.
Yeah, you're right.
Well, one of those interceptions, he's going to go get somebody. Exactly right.
Does Kyle look taller when he's playing well? Oh, yeah, he does. I think everybody feels
that he looks taller when he's playing well. You know, I had a little fun with them last
week just on on football night in America. I, we headlined it call of duty, right? Cause
of his, uh, his, his past with the contract stuff, but it was more in a, Hey, call
of duty is gone. Duty is called and he's kicking ass. And
that's kind of how I tried to frame it. And I'm, I'm glad to
see, uh, Kyler having success. Uh, Chris, just back to the
Bears. I know you picked them this week. You think they'll
beat Arizona. Uh, but Kayla Williams last week, just 24
pass attempts. Like it's time to take the training wheels off.
Let the kid play.
Well, that's what's crazy is they did in the weeks leading up or prior to the bye week. And last week too,
they couldn't get on a rhythm early on in the football game, but that was partly blamed of him.
I will blame him. And if you watch my Wednesday podcast, I showed a number of screenshots
And if you watch my Wednesday podcast, I showed a number of screenshots and plays throughout the game
That he either missed the throw or he made a bad decision or he just predetermined. I want to make a big play I'm throwing it deep and it's like why the their guys wide open right here or this guy's wide open over the middle
Why are you throwing it at 400 miles per hour?
Just complete the ball and steady lose control of it. You know, it wasn't as good of a game plan by them. I do think
they were a little conservative early, but it wasn't like the training wheels that we talked
about the first week or two. It just looked like training wheels a little bit because he did not
play well. Like I said, I really think he went into the game with an agenda. I'm going to show
everybody that Jayden's not as good as me. I'm back in my hometown and home area. I'm going to show
all my buddies and family in the crowd how awesome I am. And when you do stuff
like that and you don't just play the game and react, you get yourself in
trouble. And that's what I feel like happened to him in this one. Because
he's pressing, you're saying he's thinking too much. He's just not playing. He's
pressing too much. He wanted to impress too much. He wanted to prove to you. Jaden Daniels isn't the rookie of the year. I am, right? All of those type of things. I'm gonna show everybody that I'm the man and that he's been getting all these headlines, but they're gonna see I'm better today. And I'm back home where I played awesome high school football, was the number one recruit. I'm gonna show all my family I'm the man. I'm gonna gonna throw for 400 today and he tried too hard in that capacity and it
snowballed out of control. Sims, we had McShea on this podcast
and he he likened this upcoming quarterback draft class to the
Kenny Pickett year. So, there's not much help coming out and
this Sunday night, you've got Sam Darnold who's on a one-year
contract. How much money do you think he's making himself this year by how he's playing and the fact that if anybody wants a quarterback going into next year, you might be your best option.
Yeah, no, but right now it's it's cha-ching. Now it's got to continue. Like it's gotten a little rough here as of late to where if it plays if he plays like he did the last few games it's going
to be back to we'll give him a contract but it's like a hey a holdover contract for a rookie we
got or something like that right that's to me where he's got to play pretty high level football
so he's not in that book or in that boat of like hey he's good but we're not sure we want to give
him the franchise we just want him to hold it over for a year or two, right? And if he plays phenomenal
and like plays like he did the first four or five weeks here down the stretch, then
it's cha-ching. He's going to break the bank and be a big time starting quarterback. But
if it's a little bit like we saw the last few weeks with some mistakes and some misthrows
and staying on the number one read too long, he's going to get
a contract where we're going to go, oh, that's good money. But yeah, you can see they're
not buying into him long term. And that's where he's going to have to prove it to us
that he's worthy of us going down the stretch. Now, as far as the quarterback stuff here,
and you know, I'm not, you know, into that mode yet lately, I don't see anything that
jumps out. I would already say it's better than the Kenny Pickett year.
That's what I would say. Now, that was not a good year. I did not think Kenny Pickett was a first-rounder.
Any of that. I liked Malik Willis a lot, but he was raw as hell.
And I was the guy that picked Matt Corral, and obviously that was not a good year for me as far as quarterback draft.
But he had some elite. None of them. They all had problems. I think that's the point of McShea, but where I
think this is different. Jalen Milro special the Alabama
quarterback. Don't don't just look at it and go. Oh, they
lost two games. It must be him. He is the whole offense. They
don't run the ball that well, and if he doesn't make great
plays and great throws, they don't win games right now. He
has gotten way better at quarterback over the last year.
His arm is special and it's very rarely he's not the best
athlete on the football field.
I think he's going to be the number one pick.
So I don't think there was anybody like that in the Kenny
Pickett draft. The other one, I would say, Chidur Sanders.
There was nobody like that in that draft either.
Chidur Sanders, oddly enough, is slow and below average athlete
for 2024, which is crazy to say about Deion Sanders' son, who, you know, Deion Sanders is the fastest guy I ever saw in a football field in my life.
But when I look at Shadour Sanders, you know who I think of? Doug Williams. In the pocket, tough as hell, throw lasers down the field, not worried about a tight window or getting hit, tough as hell. So, I look at those two and go right away. I
think those two guys are better than anybody in that Kenny
Pickett draft. Alright, Chris, couple of quick ones. We'll get
you out of here. Tua, what'd you think? Yeah, all good. Tua,
what'd you think last week? How'd he play? Well, he played
good. Their offense is definitely better, right? But
again, this is what I tried to say last week, right? Let's
not forget the first two games weren't all that wow on offense with Tua.
Right. And that was that continued last week.
The league is caught onto that offense.
And then here's the other thing, too.
When you don't throw the ball down the field and all that,
it over accentuates that the league is caught onto that offense.
Man, there was a lot of throws at the line of scrimmage, behind the line of scrimmage,
not down the field, not attacking. I get that they want to get him in a rhythm. They don't want him
to hold the ball and take hits and do all that. But are we going to sacrifice the win and the
game plan every week just to protect Tua? Hey, Tua's healthy. Yep, we're two and 14, but he's
healthy. Hey, we're two and 74 the last three games, the last 76 game, but he's healthy.
I mean, that's where I go.
It's hard to play and win that way.
That's what I worry about.
They one don't still don't stick with the run well enough.
I mean, come on, they were running the ball at will.
They still get two pass happy.
38 passes for 234 yards.
That says it all.
Okay, that is hard.
It's hard to win games when you're
not making a team back up a little bit. It's hard when you could tell watching the games
to gods. He's conscious of holding the ball and getting the ball out of his hands. And
can you beat Buffalo up in Buffalo? Like, Oh, wait, it's collapsing. Let me get it
out. I don't think you can do that type of stuff. So yeah, I'll be interested to see where this goes. I think Miami's defense is a little overrated. I think Miami is invested into stars a little too much that I want to go there past their prime. And I think stars are down there not because they want to play for the Miami Dolphins, but because they want to live in Miami. And I just think there's issues of toughness, grit, everything there in Miami, and I don't expect them to win up in Buffalo this week.
Me and Mikey were talking right before you came on. We were talking a lot before you came on. Jalen Hurts, sneaky good year. Sneaky good year, Chris. Yeah.
Yes. I mean, their offense is, I say this every week and I've talked to defensive coordinators who have played them this year. I mean, it's, it watched them this week. They do nothing.
They run two runs on offense. They run a handful of plays on in the pass game, but it doesn't matter. They're better than everybody, right?
That's all it is. Teams go, wait, I know what run they're running, but I don't know. We can stop Barkley in the five all-stars they have at the offensive line,
let alone Jaylen might keep it around the edge, right?
So their formula is very simple,
but the defense has gotten better
and their playmakers make plays.
That's what they really are, right?
That's what I look at them.
They're not like, oh, surgical execute.
I just go, it's just a matter of time
before AJ Brown makes a play,
Saquon breaks a run,
Jaylen breaks out of the pocket,
makes a throw that way, all that.
I don't know if that's sustainable
against the upper class of the NFL,
but against the middle class and lower class,
and that's who they've been facing as of late,
yeah, it is sustainable and they got it going
and they're still extremely tough and talented.
There's no doubt about that, Stu Gotts.
The Rams are getting healthy here.
They're getting the receivers back.
Are you going to be surprised if the Rams are getting healthy here. They're getting the receivers
back. Are you going to be
surprised if the Rams win the
NFC West? No, I will. I won't
be surprised. I don't know if
I'd still pick. I still think I
like the 49ers to win the NFC
West. We know you do. Yeah. I
yeah. I mean, you know, I'm a
little biased but no truly on
the football field. I think I
really believe that as well.
Right. I do but but the Rams are going to have something to say.
The defense is young.
They're tough.
They're coached well.
They don't have a ton of playmakers,
but they know who they are and they play the right way.
And then like you said, I mean, Seattle's defense is not good.
If you look at Seattle throughout the year, whenever
they've had to play any good offense with a good quarterback,
they get torched.
I think they'll have a hard time stopping the Rams in that run
game and the receivers being healthy and all that this week up in Seattle. I like the Rams to win the football game.
Packers-Lions, your thoughts?
Packers-Lions, I think it's going to be an offensive explosion.
Really?
Yes, I think so. Because I don't think either defense is, the defenses are good, but they're ultra aggressive.
And they kind of have a style like what I told you
about the Ravens.
The Lions and the Packers go, we're
either going to create a turnover.
It's going to be three and out.
Or you're going to go down and score in five plays,
70-yard drive, and a touch up.
But either way, our offense will be back on the field,
and we'll be attacking.
They play the same style.
And that's why they're dangerous and tough to stop.
I just think Detroit does it better.
And Jordan Love has yet to play a plus football and
then a week out of practice. I like Malik Willis and I think
even if he plays, it'll be a fun high-scoring game too, but
I just I trust Jared Goff in that offense more in the way
the Lions are playing. I picked them to win 38-28 on up in
the up in Green Bay this weekend. If I tell you everyone's
healthy, are you telling me that San Francisco
is the best team top to bottom NFC?
Where is it Detroit?
No, I'm going to Detroit.
I'm not going.
I think San Francisco has got Super Bowl hangover.
I picked them to win the NFC West but be the fourth seed
before the season started.
I think that Super Bowl last year was devastating to them.
And as you kind of heard two weeks ago
when they were getting ready to play the Chiefs,
it was the first time really any of them
had watched the game back, right?
So I just between that, the injuries, all that,
they do have a little disease right now
of like games up at the end of the football games
where there's special teams, stupid turnovers, whatever. I think they're one
of the more talented teams when healthy, but no, I would still
take Detroit in that category. I would probably even take
Green Bay if they're healthy and Jordan Love could kicking on
all cylinders over the 49ers right now. I think I would. And
of course, the Eagles would be close in that conversation as
well. There's no way we were letting you get out of here without asking you this. Judd, Volpe,
Garrett Cole, or Aaron Boone? Who is Chris Simms most angry
with today? Aaron Boone. I mean, I'm mad at Aaron Boone. Why?
Boone? He's not out there playing in the field. I mean.
But this is the whole year. They were like this the whole. I
would tell me my friends the whole year. They'll tell you
Yesterday whatever they suck at running the bases and they sucked in the field all year
But they were the best offensive team in football so that hot that just covered flaws
They would win games eight to six during the regular season you go man. We had four errors in the field today
We got thrown out a second. We got thrown out a third.
The other team stole 47 bases on us.
But good thing, a judge hit two home runs
and Stanton hit two home runs
and somebody else had a big hit and we won the game.
That goes back to that.
That's the culture there.
Now, like the Garrett Cole thing is crazy too.
I mean, for his old school, awesome, he pitched amazing to not go cover firsts in that moment
there.
So weird.
That was the, that was weird.
It was weird.
I don't even get it.
I'm devastated.
That hurt me last night.
I woke up in the middle of the night devastated.
I'm not even, I'm not even lying.
He was tired.
Garrett Cole tapped out.
I guess so.
I guess he thought the ball was hit a little harder to first and all that. But I mean, one, you
know, Rizzo slow as hell. I would never depend on him or
anything, right? You gotta get over there. I just, I just
couldn't believe some of those errors in that inning and what
they did and you know, even with the score to go up six to
five. Yeah. And Jazz Chisholm stole second on that same play
and almost
got thrown out. Like, yeah, we got away with it, but that was stupid. What are you doing
in that moment? Right. That again, I just, yeah, I know it doesn't seem like it really
matters. It's Cashman runs the Yankees and that's all there is that's said about it right
now. He runs the Yankees. He loves Aaron Boone and Aaron Boone's not going anywhere. I'm
sorry, Chris. No, no, I exactly right. Well, anybody you listen to up here in the no,
in that department would just tell you that yes, Boone just says yes to whatever
Cashman says and that's Cashman likes that. And that's all there is to it.
Right. Boom got blamed a little in game one about the reliever he brought in.
And when they, you know, hit the starter, he brought in to be a reliever.
Exactly right. Exactly right. Nester Cortez. That is, the Yankees. I think he's putting in that decision. Uh when they, you know, hit the
starter he brought in to be a
reliever. He took exactly
right. Exactly right. Nestor
Cortez. That that is I
guaranteed Aaron Boone had no
call in that. From everything
I know from people even
associated with the Yankees, I
don't think he had any part of
that decision. I think he's
told who he's putting in there
and he puts them in. Are you saying? That's just all there is. Are you saying when the bullpen phone rings
and someone picks up the guy on the other end
is Brian Cashman, is that what you're saying?
I think he has to, I think they have to follow like,
hey, if it's we're going to the bullpen
and these people are up, you have to pick this picture.
If these people are up, you have to pick that picture.
I think Cashman and the analytics
totally run the show there.
And that's why it didn't work with at the end with Joe Torre. It's why it didn't work
with Joe Gerardi. Exactly. Joe Gerardi because they were like,
wait, I know way more baseball than you, Brian Cashman. Like
it's not even close and you want to tell me what to do all the
time. So yeah, that's that's what's going on there with the
Yankees right now. He's a yes man, much like Mike McCarthy for Jerry. Well, that's what everybody says. Like
if you listen to people up here, too, they'll tell you in interviews with the Yankees and like
Cashman asked 75 questions. Boone said yes, 75 times. That's that's all. That's all there is to
it. Anybody I talk to that knows anything or connected to the Yankees as I hear that from
everybody and I've heard it from people within the organization.
Yeah, I'm Chris Sims.
I live up here in New York.
I've known a lot of those kinds of people.
My dad's Phil Sims.
I know those kinds of people, and that's the shit I heard.
You're very angry, very upset.
I'm pissed.
As you should be.
Because I wanted to see a game six.
You were three games away from winning the World Series.
That was going to be an awesome story.
Right, it was going to be awesome. There'd never been a game six forced by a team down three.
Oh, it was all there. We blew it. Well, listen, at least you can enjoy Soto in a Metz uniform.
All right. Yeah, right. I know. That's what's crazy now too is now we don't have
enough money. Like we're like we're we're less. We're less rich than the
the Mets and the Dodgers. Right. That's what's crazy. Yeah, it's like we
got to get another owner in there with us.
I mean, we just can't compete with the Dodgers,
seven billionaire owners and Steve Cohn
who's got unlimited money.
It's shocking.
Like, are we really going to let Soto go to another team?
That's insane.
The Mets of the Dodgers, that's where he's going.
Sorry, bud.
I will be mad at the Yankees if they let Soto go. You're mad at the Yankees now for making it to the World Series.
Yeah, well, it was five nothing and then it was zero earned runs and they came back and
made it five five. That's insane. That's insane. It's like watching my son's eighth grade baseball
team. That's the **** that happens in that game. That doesn't happen with the Yankees in World Series Game 5. Crazy, crazy ****.
BFT with Mike Florio every day on Peacock, the Unbuttoned Podcast. Check him out there. And Football Night in America.
A good game coming up this weekend. Chris, we appreciate it. I'm sorry to send you into your weekend in a very bad and angry mood.
So, my apologies there.
Any parting shots for one Billy Gill on your way out here?
F**k you, Billy.
I don't know what the,
what are you going to buy Twix and Kit Kats right now?
I mean, what did you have to do that was so important?
I mean, geez, I just can't even believe it, Billy.
I really am. I'm ashamed of you.
It's very upsetting.
It's very upsetting.
What's up, Gord? Hey, what's going on? Mo just sent me a message earlier asking me if I knew this guy Austin.
Was the guy Austin the one who took the ball out of Mookie's glove? Is that why he was asking me that?
I don't know. Was it Austin? Was that his name? I don't know. Yeah I think it was and if it was
yeah I'm mutual friends with on my Facebook. That's why I think mojo was asking me if I knew the kids if it is
he went to
University of Arizona and played hockey there with Chris and
And Rob, so I don't know for sure but mojo was texting me and mojo
Are you so someone explained this to me? Well, okay mojo
Are you saying there's a possible connection to the two fans amongst this group?
Mojo, are you saying there's a possible connection to the two fans amongst this group,
Gordy in particular, that there is a connection
to the two fans who helped the Yankees win game four?
Is that the...
What I'm saying is whoever casts God Bless Football
does such an amazing job.
The fact that they were able to procure both Mojo
and Gordon Gronkowski Jr.
For the show, it's the gift that just keeps on giving.
The associations are endless.
I got a text from TMZ this morning and they were asking me, Mojo,
do you know who Austin Papio Blanco or something is?
And I said, no, who's that?
They're like, you're literally Facebook
friends with him so then I looked it up and my mutual friends Gordy, Chris G, Rob G,
Len G, Dan G, Big G and all the other G's so I'm I don't remember this gentleman but
putting getting my detective hat on I can just by deductive reasoning assume that Gordy and I probably partied with this guy about 50 times.
I don't remember it whatsoever. All right, so Gordy, do you have any recollection at all or no?
Yes, they've that I believe that is correct. Everything Mojo just said, The amount of times partying, not quite sure.
Right.
But yeah, Mojo has partied with him before.
Okay.
And I think I have his cell phone number.
I'll get out of here.
I mean, Gorge, send him a text right now
and see who he wants to come on, okay?
He's a hero, all right?
Tell him he's a hero.
There's three links on this gentleman's Facebook
page, one of which is hottest
college parties dot com. Oh,
wow. All right. Let's make
sure that's not pages and
available right now. So, let's
see if it's a defunct party
school website is exactly the
kind of person I expect you guys to be friends with.
Yes, yes.
Yeah.
I don't know whether to take offense to that or not Mikey, eh?
No, just be who you are.
Just be who you are.
Yeah, don't take offense to that.
We love you, be who you are.
Yeah, don't take offense to that.
Why would you take offense to that?
I mean you were-
CollegeMansion.com, Gordy.
Oh, that was Barbie.
That was Barbie, wasn't it?
Gordy, wasn't that Barbie, College Mansion?
Yeah, that was Barbie.
I guess you're right.
We have a history of this. Yeah. Oh my God. that was Barbie, wasn't it? Gordy, wasn't that Barbie College Mansion?
Yeah, that was Barbie.
I guess you're right, we have a history of this.
My gosh.
All right, so who's gonna reach out to this guy?
I mean, someone can send me the number and I'll reach out to the person.
All right, let me see if I have his cell number right now.
My God, you're the best, Gordy.
Don't crash.
Gordy, you're driving, be careful, Gordy.
Yeah, I know, but this is more important.
All right, Billy was just getting- Well, at least he's friends with all the cops at the police station, so if he gets pulled over, Gordy. Yeah, I know, but this is more important. All right, Billy was just getting to get in with all the cops at the police station.
So if he gets pulled over, he's good.
Yeah, are we in Detective Matt's jurisdiction again?
Where are we right now?
We are actually going downtown Boston, which I am good there
because I put the new Boston fitness centers in.
So I will have no issues there.
Anywhere outside of those two areas, very questionable.
Billy, did you hear what they were talking about as you were getting set up there?
The connection to the two Yankee heroes.
I did hear that and I heard that he may or may not own or has an association to a defunct college partying website.
Now, K-Funk, on the other hand, his picks have been defunct college partying website. Now, K-Funk, on the other hand,
his picks have been defunct this year.
They've been absolutely dreadful.
He had another week where he won zero games.
Yeah.
He-
The week's not over.
Another over.
His overall record-
The week's not over, but we got one more pick.
Atrocious, not even borderline atrocious.
It's completely atrocious.
I've updated the standings,
if anyone is interested in those.
After two horrendous weeks from Kay Funk,
back to back, he has plummeted in the overall standings.
Now, we have an exciting development here.
We have a new overall leader.
Coming into last week, our leaders were Chris Humphries
and Detective Matt at three and two.
It seemed impossible that anyone would pass them.
Now, last week's performances, two people
have surpassed the 600 win percentage mark of Chris
Humphries and Detective Matt.
Our new leader on this season at four and one
is the underdog with a win percentage.
Get out of here. Now, I'm not sure if the underdog with a win percentage. Get out of here.
Now, I'm not sure if the underdog is gonna be making an appearance again.
So who is the underdog?
It was a girl, Emily, it was with me in the car randomly.
What happened to her?
She's good.
She was excited.
She didn't go well in the car.
That's what happened.
She wanted to hear the links.
She wanted to see the link.
I want to send it to her. Okay, well, we'll send you the link.
So the underdog is now in first place with an 800 win percentage.
In second place is the spread master, who had a 5-0 week
and is now 24-14-2 on the season with a 6-25 win percentage.
Carl had an incredible run earlier this year where
three out of four weeks he was four and one. The spread master has had a more
impressive run the past three weeks. The spread master is 14 and one over three
weeks with the only loss being missing the spread by one point with my own
Green Bay Packers who still won
the game. And I just don't know if I am feeling better about being 14 and one, which I put
that record up against anyone in the country. Yeah. Or the world really. I'm the spread
master. So I'm the master of the spread. You are but I think what makes me
even happier than that is the
fact that K Funk is one and
fourteen over the last three
weeks. Yeah. but in terms of
this is created the most
beautiful thing to ever happen
to to sports. Yes, no doubt
about it. How can you say
you're not one and fourteen? He goes opposite. Because I'm not.
Because I'm not one fourteen.
But if he's fourteen and one, you have to be one and fourteen.
No, he's not.
Guys, he's absolutely not one and fourteen.
He's one and fifteen.
Oh, sorry.
He keeps losing those.
Those count.
Now, if you guys remember correctly, last week was particularly tragic because Mojo joined us for about 35 seconds and said he would simply be taking the opposite picks of K-Funk.
So K-Funk was a complete control and at the end of the segment, I offered K-Funk an option which we've never offered before, which was, K-Funk, we know you're struggling, you know you're struggling. If you'd like right now, you can just, we can put in for you all of the opposite picks
that you made for yourself,
and then we'll give Mojo your actual picks
since you're struggling to see
if this will turn things around.
And he said, absolutely not, and had an over five week.
Now, that led to Mojo's five and oh week.
Also having a five and oh week last week was ShareBear.
I think it was our first double five and oh weeks
that we've ever had.
Wow.
That has helped Share Bear jump above K-Funk in the standings.
So just below Mojo, we have Carl who's 1915 and one
with a 557 win percentage.
Then Mike Rollins had a good week.
He was four and one last week.
He's 10 and 15 on the season.
Everyone did awesome except for Funk then last week.
Essentially, yeah. Gordy had a winning week. Essentially, yeah,
Gordy so much so that Gordy
my schedule or don't share
I gave Gordy a five and oh
you've been bragging about
show that now Now, here's something that I will tell you.
Cheyenne, who was K-Funk's friend who was there, has a higher win percentage than K-Funk now. ShareBear has jumped over K-Funk in the standings, has a higher win percentage than K-Funk now.
And even while getting off to a horrible start this season, Gordy is now only half a game behind K-Funk in the standings. No, he's in last place though. Perfect. No, in last place is the blackjack dealer at
0-1-1. But K-Funk has done himself no favor because he's decided that off air he's
going to continue to send us these college picks and all of those picks keep losing as well.
K-Funk, in an effort to improve his improve with percentage has made it a lot
worse. So K-Funk actually went
0 and 7 last week.
So K-Funk is 13, 27 and 2
right now with a 333 win
percentage.
Gordy, unfortunately, I'm going
to share it now just for frame of
reference.
That's fine.
That's fair.
12, 26 and 2.
So Gordy's half a game behind
K-Funk now, but within striking
distance.
I will tell you this.
If Gordy gets a hold of the Yankee fan,
Gordy gets five and O's the rest of the time, okay?
I mean, that's it.
Billy.
Billy.
I would like to add a little bit of color here, guys.
Mojo, you've been talking the whole time.
Just let me say something real quick.
Hold on a second.
For one, we just totally forgot about the World Series pick, I guess,
because Mojo has- Well, it's not over yet.
Well, it's not settled yet.
It's not settled yet. That still counts. not settled yet. It's not settled yet.
That still counts.
That still counts.
Also, this is God bless football.
This isn't God bless baseball.
Go to the wrong show.
That was on the show.
That's number one.
Number two, I don't care what kind of gambling picks
I say on a group chat.
That has nothing to do with the show. I also I also gave
you guys Auburn Saturday night that one one guess what we're your only counting my losses like I
didn't see that one I know but I was down so much money on your other f***ing picks that I kind of
want to bet it I was scared. You're so mad dude look how mad you are bro. Carl will be on my side
I don't I think he's a kid right now college is out out. Yes, I suck. I'm probably gonna suck this week too, but I'm on my way up and up.
Well, you're not you're on your way down, but that's fine.
Yeah, yeah.
I got to read I got to read a text read here now that I allowed funk to say his piece.
Yeah, okay.
I just want to highlight that it wasn't just Funk
making awful, not awful, the worst picks.
It was also me making perfect picks
because K-Funk texted me Wednesday, October 23rd
at 1.06 p.m. and he sent me his picks.
And I said, I responded, this is right here,
I can prove it to you.
There it is.
I wrote perfect, I was actually going to take the opposite.
You did.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
And I said legit.
You already told us that on a joke.
It's out there, I was going to take those pics anyways.
Documented.
Sure, I'm sure you were buddy.
Well he just texted you, he said he was gonna take those pics anyways. What happened? I just texted, I texted this a week ago, the game. It's it's it's anyway. documented. Sure. I'm sure you were buddy. Okay.
Well, he just texted you. He
said he was going to take this
anyway. What's that? I just
texted. I texted this a week
ago. So, yeah, days before the
game's actually happening.
Exactly. starting to feel bad
for K. I am too. Actually, it
looks like he hasn't slept in
a month. Yeah. Did you get
coconut water? K. It's been it's been three years. I've been on top. You know what? I'm not scared. I'm worried about this. I'm not worried
about long season. I've won
every single season that I've
done on this show. I think
that's true. No, he hasn't.
Okay. Every full season, it
doesn't count if I show up for
two weeks and then someone
else makes my picks the rest
of the season. He's undefeated
man. He's undefeated. Give him
his credit. We had a wedding
in there too. Yep.
And he's been all of this. You guys are delusional. He's also doing all of this while expecting his first child, which is more commendable I would say.
That's multitasking. Yeah. Gordy, do you have the number? The cell phone number? Did you check?
I'm trying to actually park at this high school. I'm supposedly supposed to be training some clients on their fitness equipment,
so I'm very apologetic right now.
I will definitely work on getting that.
I'm leaving this to Mojo and Gordy.
If Gordy wants to get ahold of him, Gordy will get ahold of him.
That's it. And Mojo wants to get ahold of him,
he'll get ahold of him. That's it.
He'll get ahold of him.
That's it.
All right. We'll get him.
We'll spet them on next week.
Are you guys running?
He hasn't been on his Facebook since 2018 though,
so we're gonna have to tell him to get ahold of him. the I have a solution that I think I'm gonna offer you for next week should you want it and and should everybody here agree to this
Just cuz like I think I think I'd be kind of the author. I'd be kind of
Your mouth listen, you're not gonna want to hear this but we all feel bad for you
It's just it's it's going terribly right now. So we all feel very bad for you and we want you to stop
Yeah, you're pouting like a little baby right now.
So we want that to stop.
So not pouting at all.
But I mean, okay, we have we have all the games picked up for this week.
But maybe next week, if we have another off week for you, Kfucker,
I guess it's not even an off week because it's kind of how things been going this year.
But if you have another typical week, maybe you can pick the games
that we'll all be picking next week
and that we'll be picking against your own selections
to kind of get you back on the race track here.
You know what? I'm okay with that because every week,
we got the same damn teams and I hate them all, so yeah.
Well, there's only 32, yeah.
Yeah. Can we stay with the football though?
You're picking the same teams.
Well, let's make sure we're all good with this.
Mojo, are you good with this? We need to stay within the the same teams. Well, let's make sure let's make sure we're
all good with this Mojo. Are
you good with this? We we need
to stay within the sport of
football. You know, I I'll
even say it too if we need to
make this college just to get
K Funk back. It's not even fun
anymore, right? Like I'm
worried about ratings because
it's still his college picks
aren't doing great either. Yeah, yeah. I don't know if that helps him or makes his college picks aren't doing great either. His college picks have been atrocious in the text messages.
So I don't know that college is going to help the situation.
Let's just have a quick vote here though.
He picked the Yankees I think too.
So his baseball picks have been off as well.
Yes or no?
I took the Dodgers.
What are you talking about?
As long as it stays within the sport of football,
I don't care if it's like high school football,
if it's ankle fighters for under 70 pounds,
like whatever helps you the most.
Okay, so that's a yes from Mojo.
Are you good with this, yes or no?
I'm great with it. I'm great with it.
Okay.
Gordy, it's very stress driving.
That's what Boston and driving will do to you in that city.
Gordy, yes or no?
Simple yes or no? I'm just yes. Okay, good. Okay's what we're doing. That's what we're doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're
doing. That's what we're doing. That's what we're doing. That's what we're doing. That's what we're doing. That's what we're the game. I'm glad you brought
that up. Half of these things
changed. So now you're on his
side. I'm just trying to help
half of these things change. So now you're on his side.
Help them here.
Two minute warning.
Fourth quarter you could change
your picks again.
That's in all seriousness.
If we had picks on Wednesday,
you're telling me by Sunday that
some of the games aren't three or
four. Everyone else has figured it out.
K.
Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right.'s figured it out, right? I mean. And plus kayfunk, we're all making the picks
at the same time.
Yeah.
With the same information.
I mean, underdog figured it out.
Yeah.
I don't even know what teams are picking usually
when this happens.
Underdog went forward one ball in a drive through,
then getting out of the car to go pick up
like a float or something.
Yeah.
If I remember correctly, yeah.
But his larger point is correct in that we're picking games on a Wednesday that play on
Sunday and things change.
So I understand what you're saying.
There's nothing we can do about it.
I find myself putting my money against my picks sometimes because the lines change what
I'm saying.
So you're putting money on these picks.
Okay.
So secretly you
win all your bets just
publicly you lose them all
we're we're all making money
going opposite your we're all
doing that. I wish I was I
should you keep lobbing them up
for him he's gonna spike it
every time I feel good about
this week for you I feel like
you got a five and oh coming
let's get to the games. I do not. If he does not, we need to get somebody on the show next week because it might get
bad if he has another week like this. All right. Can I do all five of mine real quick?
Can I do all five? Yes, Gord needs to go. Gordy, commanders at Giants, Giants plus three and a half
at home. What are you taking? I'm never going with the Giants. Danny Dimes hasn't
thrown a touchdown pass in two
years at home. Alright, so
you're taking the walk in all
day. Alright, Bears at Cardinals
Cardinals minus one Arizona
Lions at Packers Packers plus
three and a half. Who you got?
Lions at Packers Packers plus
three. Yeah, plus three and a half at home. Oh, I'm taking the the Lions at Packers Packers plus
three. Yeah plus three and a
half at home. Oh, I'm taking
the points. Alright Colts at
Vikings Vikings or minus five
at home Colts going with Joe
Flacco. Dude, I love Flacco. I
just don't think he can pull it
off. It's getting too old. I'm
going with Minnesota. Okay,
Buccaneers at Chiefs. Chiefs
are undefeated. They are minus eight and a half at home.
Taking on Baker Mayfield and the Bucs.
They do not blow out anyone.
I'm taking eight and a half.
Okay.
Gordy, we appreciate it.
Get to wherever it is you're going.
Thank you, great job, K-Funk.
Yep.
Good job with the kids.
Yeah, Gordy.
Good job training the kids.
Gordy, get the Yankee fans on next week if you can.
All right, absolutely.
Okay, that'd be fun.
Hey guys, actually, I gotta run too. Yeah, he's gotta go too. I gotta run in one minute. That's a can. All right, absolutely. Okay, that'd be fun. Hey guys, actually I got to run too.
I got to run in one minute.
All right, you ready?
Do I even have to say it?
No, no, you're good.
You want to promote anything on the way out though Mojo?
My man, here we go baby.
Opposite punk for my picks and to promote today,
Once Upon a Coconut guys, 100%. I'm gonna go ahead and give out once upon a coconut and again if it goes bad for funk we need to have a therapist ready
for next week's show.
We do.
We'll get a therapist.
It's getting scary in here guys.
It is.
It's a great idea actually.
It's a great idea.
It's not just because it's Halloween.

Great taste versus less filling.
So what's the best thing about the Original Light beer?
Let it be both.
It's the perfect combo that saves me time.
I no longer have to walk down the aisle and think, what tastes the best?
Hmm, which is less filling?
What do I do?
Get the best tasting and the less filling and pour it into this giant blender, mix them together, and get the perfect drink? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm or you can find it pretty much anywhere that sells beer.
