Starting point is 00:02:04 Yeah, well, a lot of people are concerned about you. They're calling you Billy Ill. That's really just me. Yeah, I don't think a lot of people are calling me that. Illy Gill. Yeah, I got a lot of texts yesterday. Did you? Yeah, I feel like some artistic liberties were
Starting point is 00:02:18 being taken with my health. I was asked by multiple people, I heard you're in the hospital. And I said, I am not in the hospital. I was never in the hospital. Seems as though just someone decided to say on air I was asked by multiple people I heard you're in the hospital and I said I am NOT in the hospital I was never in the hospital seems as though just someone decided to say on air. I was hospitalized. I didn't say that no I know okay, okay, it wasn't me, but you thought it was me right no. I know who it was it was Dan I know that he said I was in the hospital for some reason did he really yes glad he has a pulse of his employees I think because he knows you love football so much. And he knows you love Radio Rose so much.
Starting point is 00:02:47 He just figured it would take something like going to the hospital for you to not be here yesterday. Well, I'm here today. You are here. Yep. How was your flight? It was good. I like a quick flight.
Starting point is 00:02:59 The last couple of Super Bowls have been like five hour flights for us. This is a nice quick one up and down, an hour 40 more or less. It was Vegas and Glendale, you're right. Yeah, I had, obviously because I'm me, I had like a stressful situation on the flight. Because when I was getting there, I saw someone at check-in that I recognized.
Starting point is 00:03:18 And I was like, should I go up and say hello to this person or should I not say hello to this person? Right. I don't want to be a bother. Sure. And then at the gate I saw the person and he had his hoodie on and headphones on and I'm like I'm not going to talk to him. And then at...
Starting point is 00:03:32 So you saw a person, you knew who this person was, the person is a celebrity and unlike me you were questioning whether or not you should say anything. Well it's going to get worse when you find out who it is. Oh God. So I end up then seeing this person at baggage claim. Right. And I'm like, well, if I say anything, it'll be now, obviously, because I'm not
Starting point is 00:03:52 going to see this person the rest of the week, more than likely. And then other people were talking to this person. I'm like, OK, before I go, I'm just going to say, hello, introduce myself to the person, whatever. Also, sitting next to this person, Braxton Berrios. So who we're going to talk to this week. Super Bowl week radio out, Billy.
Starting point is 00:04:09 That's what happens, you know? So there was people on the flight, obviously, coming from Miami over here to New Orleans. And when I saw this person, I figured they're going to be on my flight. I know where they're going. So I go up. And on the way back, I get my bag.
Starting point is 00:04:20 I go, and I was like, hey, how's it going? Like, I'm Billy. I do the show with Stu Dodge. You know, like, we, how's it going? Like, I'm Billy. I do the show with Stu Dodge. You know, like we've spoken a couple times. Like, good to see you. And the guy goes, I know you are, Billy. Like, you don't have to. I'm like, yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:04:32 Like, we do a show. He's like, I know. I know who you are. Why are you surprised? You want to know who it was? I think I have a feeling. Who do you think it was? Raheem Oster.
Starting point is 00:04:41 It was Raheem Oster. It was so awkward. I'm so awkward. Is he coming out? I told him, I heard you're busy, then he's like, yeah, it's really busy. He's like, I'll find you guys. I'm like, okay, see you there.
Starting point is 00:04:57 I was like, I think I do, like, all right, good luck this week. And then I leave and I go to get an Uber. Right. And I'm just begging him, like, please, Uber, get here fast, because I was already so awkward to begin with. I now don't want to be standing at the Uber check with Raheem
Starting point is 00:05:12 the entire time. Making words. Making words. Exactly right. The less I say, the better. It's generally how my life goes. The less I say, the better. Fuentes and I came here.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Jimmy Johnson was on our flight. Oh. I know. There's something that makes me feel good when a coach is on my flight, especially in that coach. Yeah. Why, because you think that he, like, I mean, just heaven forbid, you think that plane crash is not in his future?
Starting point is 00:05:37 Yeah, yes. I feel like that's, yeah, I feel better when I know. Plus, if something does happen, he's a coach. He's going to spring into action to take care of all of us. That's what coaches do. Oddly, I thought that with Raheem, too. I was happen, he's a coach. He's going to spring into action to take care of all of us. That's what coaches do. Oddly, I thought that with Raheem, too. I was like, this is good because should anything happen, he'll probably be the first one to take control
Starting point is 00:05:54 of the situation. And then I can hop in after. I'm not a first responder situation. I can be guy number two or guy number three. You can pile on very well. Exactly. Right. Yeah. Raheem, you get it started. Once there's a big crowd, I can be guy number two or guy number three. You can pile on very well. Exactly right. Yeah. Raheem, you get it started and I'll be there for you.
Starting point is 00:06:08 Once it's a big crowd, I can kind of get in there and be like, hey, hey, hey, you know what I mean? And kind of stop things. Should I need to? Did you see the awkwardness on opening night where multiple people ask, or I guess it was probably the same person, ask Patrick Mahomes and ask Travis Kelce about the referees? So they ask, I think, Travis Kelsey. I was on a flight with Jimmy, just so you know.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Oh, yeah, well. A little delayed, yeah, but Jimmy took care of it. Really? That's good. I can't believe that Jimmy still lives in the Keys or in Miami or wherever. And then he flies to LA every week to talk football. We were shocked he didn't fly private, to be honest with you.
Starting point is 00:06:44 You know, maybe things aren't as good to be honest with you. No. Yes. Maybe things aren't as good. Let me tell you, it was delayed. But once they realized Jimmy was on the flight, that bird was taken off. Yeah. Jimmy was not having it. That's true.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Yes. So you were saying about the awkwardness. Well, I was going to say someone asked Patrick Mahomes, what do you love more? Or what teammates have helped you in the past? Which referee has helped you in the most in the past? So they asked him about referees. And they asked Travis Cousins, do you love Taylor Swift more?
Starting point is 00:07:06 Do you love referees that call Phantom, roughing the pass or to give you 15 yards more? He did not like that question one bit. It's a good question, though. Travis Kelsey used to be a staple on these things. Yeah. Never see him anymore. You're at big time. Mm hmm. Also, he's always in the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:07:24 I can't believe we're 50 Warwick. You and I have grown old together, man. the I can't believe we're fifty war you and I have grown old together man. Hey hey it's a you know another year around the sun we're thankful for that but you know being fifty they think the kids are. Yeah
Starting point is 00:07:44 you know yeah I'm old. Yeah. Yeah. I'm old. I'm old. I'm old. Kids have a funny way of humbling you, right? Oh yeah, they keep you in your place now but they also keep you active too. Yeah. So, it's important that, you know, I
Starting point is 00:07:59 stay active, you know, continue to move around. Just, you gotta enjoy life, man. So, trying to do that. Uh you do. Tell everyone what you're doing this week, New Orleans Superbowl week with Smirnoff. After that, I want to ask you more questions about being 50, okay? Well, oh oh yeah. Smirnoff, you're doing a huge tailgate along, the longest tailgate ever for Superbowl. It's going gonna be a 60 foot truck bed and we're just gonna have a lot of food. The chef is gonna be out there cooking
Starting point is 00:08:30 and just a really great time for people to come out and enjoy themselves. And most importantly, they have to drink responsibly. Yep. But come out and just have a great time. And I'm gonna have other former players out there with me like Vernon Davis and Chris Long. So I just think it'll be a great opportunity to come out and just really have a great time and enjoy themselves while they're in New Orleans. It's gonna be a fun time. But for me, I'm always gonna promote we gotta be responsible, drink responsible, have a great time, engage, just enjoy each other
Starting point is 00:09:10 and just really enjoy that New Orleans, that New Orleans feeling so it's really good sometimes to be hanging out on bourbon but we'll be on Canal Street this weekend. One of the really good be proudest of. Well you know I'm thankful honestly that I have the ability to just to help people help change someone's life impact them and just doing things in a positive way and helping them have a better future not just for themselves but for their kids and you know it's not just about me but it's also about building a healthier society, a healthy community so that we can support each other. So I'm thankful that I do have the ability to impact communities in a positive way. In terms of cities, where does New Orleans rank for you?
Starting point is 00:10:19 Well actually I was born in New Orleans. I'm a charity baby. So I'm a charity baby, born in New Orleans, raised in Baton Rouge. So I mean, New Orleans, that's home. I have family there. I go back often. And when, when I do go home, that's that's money in the bank for me. Billy, are you taking notes here? Warwick is giving us some advice as to where to go when we make our first trip to New Orleans. Yeah, Warwick, I'm interested in the cuisine as well, so I've been looking for an expert of sorts. I'm glad that you're giving us this. I have a question for you.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Yes, sir. Liam Cullum, you want to punch him in the head, right? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha periods of time and then you reappear like, here I am the head coach of the Jaguars. Well, you know, it's a business. You know, I don't, you know, for me, you can't take anything personal. And I had to learn that early in life that this is a business and everybody's going to do and the teams are going to do what's in their best interest. Then as a player and I know as coaches, you have to do things that are in your best interest. And so he's looking out for his future and his opportunity.
Starting point is 00:12:07 And I can't really be mad at that. It's it is what it is. This is a business at the same time that we do love the game of football. And it's about team. But the business side comes first. Warwick, are you a fan of everything that's changed in college football? No, sir. I'm No, I'm not. I'm not.
Starting point is 00:12:26 I'm not. You know, I think when you're thinking about college football, the NIL has definitely just really impacted a game in such a way that, you know, kids are supposed to be in college. You can play sports, but you're supposed to be in college to get a degree. Today, it just seems like everything is about the dollar, and they're not going through any adversity. We all came out fine on the other side because we learn
Starting point is 00:12:55 some things by going through some adversity. And once we fell down, we got back up and we're able to move in a more positive direction. And today, if they don't like something, they say, bye, they're getting a transfer report or go to the next location. And they're just chasing the money and not necessarily focusing on the next 20, 30 years of their lives. So for me, I just think the game, they need to take a step back and put some parameters around it because I want the guys to make money, but we need take a step back and put some parameters around it because I
Starting point is 00:13:25 want the guys to make money but we we we need to have some parameters around this game so that it's a game where they're they're playing at the highest level but you're also you have to go through some adversity to get to the other side.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Understand the journey that is going to take to become a young man, a great athlete, just a great human being. Uh if I told you way back when Deion Sanders would one day be a good head coach, dare I say great head coach, you would have told me
Starting point is 00:13:52 what? Uh well, I have to say wait and see, right? Um cuz it's hard to say who's going to be what but I think Deion is taking what he's gotten from other coaches and and what he has learned. I think he's trying to instill that in other athletes. So it's about a wait and see game and you know for me, it's just you wait and he's still coaching. He still has a
Starting point is 00:14:16 way to continue to grow and impact guys. So I think it's only a matter of time. We'll see what happens, but it's a wait and see game. Do you marvel? I mean, you're a former running back. You rush for I think over 10 it's only a matter of time. We'll see what happens but it's a way to see game. Uh do you marvel? I mean, you're a former running back. You rush for I think over 10,000 yards during your career. Do you marvel the way we do at
Starting point is 00:14:33 Taequan Barkley? Well, I like his game. You know, just so you know, I'm 37 yards shy of 11 thousand. So, if I would've if I would've got a couple more carries down in Tampa. Yeah. My early days. Yeah. I've been over 11 thousand. I've just
Starting point is 00:14:48 missed. Who are we blaming for that? No, there's someone to blame. Who are we blaming for that, Wark? I hear it. I hear it. Well, no, no. Think about it. When I first got into the league, I got drafted. I was 170-some pounds and back then,
Starting point is 00:15:02 you're not gonna let a 170-some-pound running back, run the ball consistently down in and down out. And whenever we got close to the red zone, they would take me out of the game. So it's just what it is. And I played in the area where, you know, I was only a hundred and eighty five pound max playing at this level. And I had to prove that I can run the ball inside. I can at this level and I had to prove that I can run the ball inside. I can make guys miss. I can do things that they didn't think I can do. And I was just that chip on my shoulder.
Starting point is 00:15:30 But the game has changed today. It, you know, I've had guys who playing said if I played today, oh my gosh, that, you know, I can. I can probably do some things. You play a lot longer and make a lot of guys miss. So it's, it is what it is, but I think I had a good career. I got over 15,000 yards of total offense, rushing and receiving all purpose yards. So I impacted and I wasn't trying to get hit at all. If you remember, I wasn't trying to get touched. Oh, I remember, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:06 So I wrote a book. I was running for my life, literally, so making sure that I can get up and go on to the next play. But I am thankful. And Saquon, I mean, he's just really took a step forward. And I think just being in Philly, you know, after his first year, I think now he found his rhythm.
Starting point is 00:16:30 And can he maintain that or continue that for the next few years? Time will tell, but right now he's riding high. And, you know, offensively, they're controlling a line of scrimmage and creating holes and seams for him. He's hitting them at the right time and making guys miss and that's what's important You think with that Eagles line you can get the 37 yards you need maybe two three games to go out there
Starting point is 00:16:53 20 carries something like that. If not the Eagles, what's the team? Who's the line that gets you the 37 you need? Yeah That's a tough one that's a tough one. That's a tough one right there. Cause football has just changed. But, you know, just watching Saquon, I mean, he's running a little stretch or counter and he's able to utilize his skills. I mean, I think I can probably do that, but. Okay. If you know what, if you just gave me a really good offensive line, I'm gonna do my thing. Yeah. That's all I need is good offensive line and they gonna get all the credit,
Starting point is 00:17:34 but I'm gonna work hard to get those yards. We'll have you promote Smirnoff again on the way out here, but one more question before we get to that. The Mount Rushmore of Florida State football, four names. I need four names Warwick. The Mount Rushmore of Florida State football. The Mount Rushmore of Florida State football. Yeah. You can put a coach on there because I know you want to put Coach Bowden on there. So. Oh well he's the top. I mean it wouldn't be, it wouldn't be any Seminoles Florida State without coach Bowden and it's a
Starting point is 00:18:10 lot of great players. You know, I know it's there's so many guys I can't really just name four honestly, right? The greatest player is is well, the greatest person is coach Bowden. We have, you know, obviously Dion was a great player. Terrell Buckley was a
Starting point is 00:18:27 great player. Charlie Ward, I mean. Charlie Ward has to be on there. Charlie Ward, Dion Bowden. They all, those three need to be on there and Derrick I say you're the fourth for me. You're the fourth. Um fourth. Yes. Well, you know, the thing
Starting point is 00:18:40 is people don't know this that when I went to Florida State, I was supposed to be a defensive back and I made a deal with Coach Bowden that if you give him an opportunity to play running back, and if it doesn't work out, I'll move the defensive back. But he gave me an opportunity to play running back. And the rest was history after the first week of training and training camp. So I'm thankful that I was able to go there and definitely impact the school in a positive way and like I said run and compete and I love to compete so I wanted to be where the best were at and I wanted to show everybody that I can play with the best so that's that competition in me. I don't
Starting point is 00:19:18 think it's ever going to go away either. Listen I think I left out Derek Brooks. Who am I taking off? I think I left out. Well, no, Derek, Derek. I mean, but it's, it's, that's what I'm saying. It's so many guys that you can't, it's, you can't just pick for. I mean, I love Dion, but you know, Brooke was a, was a great player. I mean, we had a, we had great guys on both sides of the ball. I mean, it's the teams that we had that brought it together. Remember, my year was the first year we actually won a national championship. So you got a lot of great players that played together, came together, and we all helped each other be the best that we can be. And that was the most important thing. It wasn't just one guy.
Starting point is 00:20:03 It was a team. And Coach Bowden was the head of that. He was't just one guy. It was a team and coach Bowden was the head of that. He was the the one that brought us all together. Warwick, one more time on the way out here. Tell everyone what you're doing this week. New Orleans Super Bowl week with Smirnoff. Well, everyone, please come out. I'll be in New Orleans at the Super Bowl. It's going to be the longest tailgate you've ever been a part of with Smirnoff
Starting point is 00:20:27 Ice. We're going to have great food, some jambalaya. We're going to have other guys out, Vernon Davis and Chris Long. It's just going to be a great opportunity to come out and just really engage. It's going to be on Canal Street, but if you want to know more, just go to smilnoff.com and you can sign up, find out the location that we were actually be at. Just come on out, just have a great time and we can all, we can toast each other and have a great time, drink some cocktails. So it should be a great, great time, family and friends and just people that love to engage and just really want to enjoy
Starting point is 00:21:06 themselves but we always have to remember that we got the drink responsible. Always. Just let's take care of each other, drink responsible, but we're going to still go out and have a great time together. You are a good man. We appreciate the time checking him out. Smearnoff this week, he's going to be in New Orleans,. Gonna be hanging out with Vernon Davis, Chris Long and others. Uh by the way, 50 looks a lot better on you than it does me work. Thank you for your time buddy. Yes sir.
Starting point is 00:21:32 Well, I try to save all the gray eye. I try to keep it all off. I'm just on health here. That's all. Oh, it's all and you're good. Trust me. Starting point is 00:23:05 What my favorite start? Yeah, my favorite Chessie song. Yes. No just your favorite song in general My favorite song in general is son of a son of a sailor by Jimmy Buffett really I saw that you went not too long Good to a Jimmy Buffett concert. I am like you with a dead. That's why I started there I'm with I'm a Jimmy Buffett a parrot. Yes. I'm a parrot. Are you really I went to 46 shows before he died what? You and Greg Cody Wow Really huh 46 I saw him once and I'm so glad that I went the one time that I saw him right He puts on a great show. It's an unbelievable experience incredible energy. The crowd is super into it Yeah, it's it's I've been told it is I've never been to a dead show, but I haven't told it is basically it's like a dead show when where it's tequila instead of pot basically is. But other than that, it's, you know, very same vibe, a very welcoming, like people of all ages. And like, you're just there. And it's it's all about the tailgating as well. And yes, what's your your go to outfit? Because there are some wild outfits when you go there. You're not a cheeseburger on your head type of guy. No, no, no, no. I'm usually just a Hawaiian shirt or a previous Jimmy
Starting point is 00:24:08 Buffett concert shirt. Very, you know, in spirit, but not, you know, not, you know, f***ing coconut bra. Yeah. Did you ever get a cheaply bra? You can't have everyone after you, Barry. I would like to see you in a coconut bra. You can't have people taking pictures of you
Starting point is 00:24:20 dressed that way. Exactly. Exactly. That's for when you're at home, let's say, Jimmy. Did you ever get a chance to meet him? Yes, multiple times. Multiple times. Look at you, Barry.
Starting point is 00:24:29 I have a great, and we can do it on the air if you want, but I have a great. We're on the air. Oh, we really are? Yes. That's awesome. That's amazing. It's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:24:36 I didn't even know we were started. I love that. Fantasy football happy hour. We really have been on the air the whole time. He just starts. I just start sometimes. You were talking music. I love this conversation. Sure. I just start sometimes. We were talking music.
Starting point is 00:24:45 I love this conversation. Sure. I want to hear about the times you have met Jimmy Buffett. I'll give you a great Jimmy Buffett story. I've met him a couple of different times. The first time I met him, so when Jimmy was alive, he used to do a show for Sirius XM called The Bing and Bong Show. He has Margaritial Radio, which is still on Sirius XM.
Starting point is 00:25:01 And so The Bing and Bong Show was him and his musical director Michael Utley. And like, I don't know, 10 minutes before the show, they would either answer viewer questions or they would interview somebody or somebody would interview them. They would just, they played these characters, Bing and Bong. And so their tour manager of 25 years,
Starting point is 00:25:17 guy named Hakee Larson, his production manager, dear friend of mine. And so Hakee, I was going to a show and Hakee texts me and he goes, do you want to be on the Bing and Bong show? Jimmy would love, youike, I was going to a show and Heike texts me and he goes, do you want to be on the Bing and Bong show? Jimmy would love, you know, he knows you're a big fan. I'm like, oh my God, yeah. So I'm thinking I get to meet,
Starting point is 00:25:32 I'll do it because I get to meet Jimmy. Of course. Okay, fine. So I do the Bing and Bong show. And that's like in the summer in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Okay. Maybe eight months later, he plays a New Year's Eve show at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Starting point is 00:25:50 And I somehow managed to get front row tickets. And I am, it's New Year's Eve and it's my wife and I and another couple that we're friends with. And the tickets were a surprise. We get there and we're like front row center. I am, you know, I'm hammered and I'm just, you know, I'm going crazy and I'm like, you know, I'm hammered. And I'm just, you know, I'm going crazy. And I'm like, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, Finn's up, you know, Finn's to the left,
Starting point is 00:26:09 Finn's to the right, I'm doing the whole thing. I'm doing the whole thing. I'm, you know, I'm bowing to him. I'm like all in, like I'm, you know, I'm knocking inflatable balls onto the stage. He never once recognizes me or acknowledges me, which is fine. It's totally fine.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Like he's playing with 20,000 people, right? But never once does he just, you know, kind of give me like a little look or what, everything like that. And I'm like making a big, I'm like, whatever, who cares? I'm like at a great, you're trying to get noticed, right? I'm not even trying to get noticed,
Starting point is 00:26:32 I was just so into it. Right, I got it. No, so I don't care. Again, I've already met him and like, but whatever. My point is, is that he never does. He never acknowledges me, never looks my way at all. It's fine. Everyone's going crazy.
Starting point is 00:26:42 He's playing to 20,000 people. Okay. A year after that, my wife and I and my kids go to the Margaritaville Resort in Florida on vacation. There's one in Hollywood, Florida, which is basically Fort Lauderdale. It's beautiful. It's a great resort. It has one of those surfing machines, the FlowRider. The FlowRiders are awesome. You do not do the FlowRider. It's Margaritaville. You do not do the flowrider. It's Margaritaville.
Starting point is 00:27:06 You do the flowrider? I do. There's a lot you don't know about that. I know. Quite the onion. The flowrider was great. I literally looked into how much would it cost to get one in my backyard and then it's crazy expensive.
Starting point is 00:27:18 Really? How much? It's well over seven figures. Over? What? Yes, yes, yes. Wow. They told me it's one five to two and I'm like really what yeah Wait, you're gonna put it in your yard. Yeah my backyard. I love this
Starting point is 00:27:32 Matt I swear I thought you said so I got one No, but I thought like, you know, could it cost maybe a little bit more than a pool You know, you know kind of thing and like I don't know. You were thinking the $70,000 ranch, right? Yeah, that's right. Exactly. I thought, like, you know. Finance it a little bit. Yeah, you can kind of explain that away.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Yeah, yeah. Just like. Over a million dollars. I mean, I have five kids. You know what I mean? You're always looking for, you know, at the tiny way. Whatever. Doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Just send them out there. Right. But the point is, anyway, so randomly Jimmy Buffett is at this resort at the same time I am. And so he was doing some photo shoot and they were shooting him at the Margarita Resort. And so I see him.
Starting point is 00:28:14 And so I just walk up to him and I'm like, hey Jimmy, hey Matthew Barry from ESPN, I'm Hakey's friend. And without missing a beat, he shakes me and he goes, Matthew, so great to see you again. Last time I think we saw you was front row at Barclays on New Year's Eve. Hakey's friend and without missing a beat he shakes me and he goes, Matthew, so great to see you again. Last time I think we saw you was front row at Barclays on New Year's Eve. My God, he noticed.
Starting point is 00:28:29 He met me once for five minutes. So cool. A year and a half previously. Right. Never wrecked. And then, but like, and then, you know, again, without missing a beat. And later I'm talking to Hakey and I'm like, dude, did you tell Jimmy I was going to be here?
Starting point is 00:28:44 And he goes, no, I haven't talked to Jimmy probably in a week or so, but he goes, I will tell you, that story doesn't surprise me because he has a mind like a steel trap, he remembers everything, and when he's on stage, he doesn't miss a beat. Like, he just sees everything. So that, I've heard stories like that before.
Starting point is 00:29:00 So anyway, just, you know. It's very cool. Kind of crazy. So anyway, I'm a massive, I'm a crazy Buffett fan. You're really a kid at heart you are Matt right I mean. Dude I mean listen I'm on TV wearing makeup talking about fake football for a living. Yeah. I mean you know like my job is. What a gig. Right exactly it's ridiculous. They pay me Stu Gotz to talk about fake football. Right? And betting on sports, right? And I mean, right, all of us. I mean, we have stupid jobs.
Starting point is 00:29:30 So if you can't be a kid in a candy store, and like, again, and I'm so lucky, like that experience that I just told you about, the ability to meet Jimmy, the ability to get good tickets, the ability to afford good tickets, all comes from this dumb place of a job that shouldn't even exist, and it does. And so it's like, it's all incredibly.
Starting point is 00:29:47 And it doesn't feel like work, right? Right, exactly. It's incredibly lucky, and I'm truly blessed. And so I cannot be happier. I want you to get a Flowrider. You deserve it. I want you to get some big deal coming up. And it's like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:30:00 I'm getting a Flowrider for my yard. Believe me, because we spent, me and all my kids, we were on that every single day. They're not easy. They're not easy at all. There's somebody there that's a Flowrider instructor. We took private lessons after the park. After it closes, you can get a instructor.
Starting point is 00:30:21 And so the first day, we all tried it. We all loved it. We all fell on our ass in the water. And then they're like, oh, well, if you want to get a, and so like we, like the first night, the first day we all tried it, we all loved it, we all fell on our ass in the water, and then they're like, oh, well if you wanna get a lesson, so like me and all five kids, and my wife, like we got an instructor for an hour, and like we just practiced, just the five of us, and then we were competent, and like literally every day
Starting point is 00:30:42 for the rest of the week we were there or whatever, we loved it. It's a dangerous game, so you ever done. I have a bathing suit that think you can fly Yeah, I fell down like immediately. Yeah, I needed lessons. Yeah, apparently, but I want to go to give you the rope like it like Yeah, they give you the rope It's great we had so much anyway, I looked into it and then I was like, all right, we're out. And the instructors make it seem like it's the simplest thing to do. Oh, they're on one leg.
Starting point is 00:31:09 And they're doing backwards. I want to punch them in the face. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. It's all you do on vacation. Yeah. You try to relax.
Starting point is 00:31:16 I want to go on a Berry family vacation. I mean, your family sounds delightful. Thank you. OK. You're going to take me and Billy next time? I don't think he wants us to go on his vacation though. Listen. His vacation's to get away from people. No you. OK. You're going to take me and Billy next time? I don't think he wants us to go on his vacation, though. His vacation's to get away from people. No, stop it.
Starting point is 00:31:29 So I have five kids. And my sons are now grown adults. They're 26, 24, 20, and then I have the twin daughters that are 13. So wide range. But at this point now, it's like the 26-year-old has a serious girlfriend. The 24-year-old is like, so it's like, when we go on vacation, it's like 12 people.
Starting point is 00:31:46 So at this point, I wouldn't even notice you guys are there. You might as well come along. Like, when we go, it's like, it's a whole, it's a traveling circus. You notice when you start paying for us. Yeah, well, well. Maybe one is. Honestly, like, you know, my wife handles all the bills.
Starting point is 00:32:00 I just, you know. Billy, Matthew was nice enough to have me on his show and I gave a ridiculous take. Yeah. He talked about it right when he walked up here. Yeah. Because he's still reeling from it. And so go ahead and give Billy the take that I gave and and then we'll go from there. I'm curious because I've caught onto a pattern where Stugats will kind of repeat some of these from time to time. So I'm wondering if he gave you something
Starting point is 00:32:21 fresh. I wrote it in a book. I mean, well. Clearly, Billy hasn't read the book. He published the book. I published the book. Fair enough. Well done. You put your name on a book that somebody else wrote. Fair enough. Yeah, so his take is that Brian Bielik is the greatest
Starting point is 00:32:39 coach of all time. That Andy Reid and Bill Belichick shouldn't even be in this conversation, but that Brian Bielik is the greatest coach of all time. His argument is, and let me tell you what my take on your take is, and then you correct me if I've gotten your take. I only said he was a better, I said do it with Trent Dilfer, that's what I said. Yeah, that was his basic take, was that like, you know, like it's anyone can win a Super Bowl with Tom Brady or Patrick
Starting point is 00:32:59 Mahomes, do it with Trent Dilfer, the way Brian Billich did. Or in Joe Gibbs's case, do it with three separate quarterbacks, none of them in the Hall of Fame. How about that? Right. So that was his argument, was that why is Andy Reid being talked about as potentially the greatest coach of all time? Bill Belichick is a mediocre coach without Tom Brady. Brian Billich.
Starting point is 00:33:17 He's going to agree with me. I'm not full out of Greek. You guys are insane. Look, I've been flirting with this. Take Matthew, and I want you to hear me out on this. You guys are insane. Look, I've been flirting with this. Take Matthew and I want you to hear me out on this. You're working it out on Matt? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:29 George Kittle. Yeah? More impressive than Travis Kelce and Gronk. Who has he had? More impressive is, I don't know, because Gronk and Kelsey have been so clutch in such big moments. Kittle's awesome.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Yeah. I love Kittle. He's great. He's unbelievable. And I will say that it's not really a fair comparison, because Kittle, like Gronk, are also excellent run blockers. Yeah. Unbelievable. Like, I don't think people appreciate how good a blocker
Starting point is 00:33:56 Gronk was. Yes. And I don't think people understand how important Kittle is to the 49ers run game. Kelsey's not a blocker. Yeah. Kelsey's a, you know, he's a big wide receiver. Kittle's numbers are bad because of the fact that he blocks so much. Yeah, Kelsey's a you know he's a big wide receiver in numbers are bad
Starting point is 00:34:05 Kelsey's not a He can be so much better right those numbers at point Kelsey's more like a wide receiver Yeah, yeah exactly, but he's been so clutch for so long Yeah Just in you know in the biggest moments and just so good at just sort of finding spaces and you know a lot of it We could spend hours and hours talking about like it it's so much about showing up on it. Who are your teammates? But doing it with Garoppolo.
Starting point is 00:34:29 Now you're talking. You see? Well, prior to this year, this was my argument on Terry McLaurin. I'm like, Terry McLaurin's one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. People are like, eh. And I'm like, look who's throwing him the ball.
Starting point is 00:34:39 Oh, yes. And then he finally gets a quarterback this year. Yes. And he finally gets a quarterback this year. Right. And he finally gets a quarterback this year. Right. Terry McLaurin is here for you with the commander. Oh, it was amazing. It was great. It was, found money.
Starting point is 00:34:49 But everyone's so upset. And I'm like, what's that? What have we got? Our producer made the most useless contribution to this show in the four-year history of this show. That's saying something. After, yes. It is.
Starting point is 00:34:59 It is. You're right. But after a game, he's just blurted into a microphone, I feel good for Terry McLaurin. I just left it on our laps. Yeah. Oh, I thought he was alone, but apparently he's not. Oh, no. He suffered for so long, you know. And this this year was amazing.
Starting point is 00:35:16 People were upset about the championship game. And I said, look, we won four games last year. Our preseason win total is the commanders was six and a half. If you told me, and we had been in the quarterback desert for years and years and years and years, and I said, if you told me before the year, hey, you guys are gonna win 14 games, you're gonna win two road playoff games,
Starting point is 00:35:34 you're gonna, you're going to discover that you have a franchise caliber quarterback, a superstar quarterback for the next 15 years, and the only downside is you get your ass kicked in the NFC Championship. Where do I sign? Sign me up. Where do I sign right now?
Starting point is 00:35:49 I mean, like, I think it was Peter Schrager that put this tweet out. I apologize if it wasn't, but, you know, about in terms of rookie quarterbacks in the championship game and the defenses they had. Right. Right, you know, Flacco, Roethlisberger, Sean King with Tampa Bay, Brock Purdy, they all had top three defenses.
Starting point is 00:36:07 Right. Jayden Daniels had defense number 18. Wow. Yeah. And you know, I mean like, he just, you know, I mean, with all, my argument is that Jayden Daniels, what's so impressive, there's so many things impressive about Daniels' year this year, but one of them is that
Starting point is 00:36:21 he actually played with worse talent around him this year than he did his final year in college. Correct. Had Malik neighbors in Brian Thomas senior year in college. Yes. This year he had a Lamedes, a KS, and Diami Brown. You know, Noah Brown. Right. He had Tare McLauren.
Starting point is 00:36:35 And I mean, Zacherts had an amazing year. Zacherts was out of football last year. Yes. You know, so it's just like that he was able to do that and credit to Cliff Kingsbury, credit to Dan Quinn, credit to the entire organization. But like, faith in five, man.
Starting point is 00:36:48 That kid is special. I know you don't typically take quarterbacks with the first overall pick in a fantasy draft. But because of his running ability in the upside, do you think he could go number one next year? I don't. I mean, even me, I'm as Homer as they come. Running's important.
Starting point is 00:37:02 It is. But I'm at QB3. I have Alan and Jackson over him. OK. And then, but I'm a QB3. I have Allen and Jackson over him. Okay. And then, but I think he will go in the top five of fantasy drafts next year. I think I could see putting people putting Burrow ahead of him. I could see people drafting Jaylen Hurts ahead of him. But for me, Jayden Daniels is three.
Starting point is 00:37:17 And I think the hype on him is going to be so real, especially because I think the commanders obviously they're going to fix the offensive line. They'll add another receiving weapon, whether it's T Higgins, whether it's, you know, I've heard, you know, Godwin, maybe they'll be in on Cup, who knows, but like they'll add to that receiving core. You know, it's not just gonna be Terry McClure next year. Billy's talking about all the time, like as you get deeper into the playoffs,
Starting point is 00:37:38 there's only four teams, you're doing your weekly fantasy, it becomes more and more difficult. Like how do you, for sure, because everyone's taking the same. Everyone has the same players. Right, right. Especially when you do like a Draft Kings, you have you, right? Because everyone's taking the same. Everyone has the same players. Right. Especially when you do like a Draft Kings, you have a budget.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Yeah, you're taking the same players. That's where you have to go variance. That's where you have to, why, yeah, exactly. You know, if you were doing like a, you know, a game for this one, like you're like, oh, well, you know, hey, Juju Smith Schuster, you know, like we think he pops off.
Starting point is 00:38:00 Mac Collins was my guy all season. He was so cheap. He's so great. He finally had a game. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mack Collins is great. So it's in the margins, huh? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:08 I think he'll be semi-popular, but I think Dallas Goddard has a big game on Super Bowl Sunday as well. You almost have to take a flyer, just take Carson Wentz. And maybe you'd be the only one who has him. What if Mahomes goes down? That's a little bit crazy. Really? Do you take like?
Starting point is 00:38:22 You're not going to win anyway. Do you take like Jake Elliott? Does to win anyway. Do you take do you take like Jake Elliott? Right. Does it turn into a field goal battle and Jake Elliott who struggled throughout the you know playoffs in this year does he suddenly you know come up clutch and kick five field goals right? Who knows? I want Billy's take though on your your billet take your Belichick overrated take. I hate to tell you. I think he agrees with it. I mean I I
Starting point is 00:38:42 don't agree with it, but... Listen, Belichick's a great coach. I'm just saying, the record without Brady is below 500. Brave of you to go out on that limit and say he's a great coach. I mean, it's hard to say he's not. I'll say this. But he benefited from a great quarterback. It may be in his book.
Starting point is 00:38:55 That's like probably chapter 17 or something. People are not getting to that chapter, so like that... I'm going to give that fresh for you. Yeah, I appreciate that. I haven't heard it yet. I'll tell you a Belichick story. Okay. So and I think that I was gonna tell you two but I think one actually you guys had on your on your show but the first one is I remember I was talking to Teddy Bruski at ESPN right and I'm like hey Belichick
Starting point is 00:39:16 like what is you know how brilliant is Belichick right you know kind of thing and he told me a story he says my second week he goes my second week of my rookie year we're on the road somewhere and I go to the practice field I'm looking around and I'm like hey where's the play clock where's the play clock and he's like my position coach goes oh it's up there in the corner he's like why'd they move it he goes well the stadium we're playing at this weekend that's where the position that's where the play clock is they have it all the way up in the corner so we're gonna, you know, you wanna practice
Starting point is 00:39:45 knowing where the play clock is. Attention to detail, right? Attention to detail. And Teddy just said, throughout my career, there were plays that I missed. There were plays that I didn't, you know, take the right angle or that I didn't do well. But there was never a play I wasn't prepared for.
Starting point is 00:39:59 There was never something that an offense did that I hadn't seen on film or been talked to before that week. He's like, I mean like who thinks of that like oh we should practice where the playcock is. And so that's that and I was just like oh damn. And Deb McCordy said the same thing and I know he said it on some show and it might have been this one I forgot but Deb McCordy told me the same thing that like their first game at MetLife when he was playing the Jets he's just like oh the wind carries a ball he goes if you get it you if
Starting point is 00:40:26 you're on a go-round whatever just play back a little bit because the ball's gonna get caught up in there mm-hmm and that's exactly what happened he ended up getting an interception I think on Sanchez and like it just so just I don't know like you love the attention to detail just speaking to what a great coach he is yeah you know like I'm Like I'm not even a Patriots guy, I'm a commanders fan. But like, I mean, you know, respect. Somehow I have made you defend Bill Belichick here. I know, but respect.
Starting point is 00:40:52 Give the man respect. When Teddy told me that story, which is such a small little story, but I just thought that was like, Who would think of that? Yeah, who would think of that? Alright, your people are asking you to leave now. You have to get back to your NBC responsibility. Yes, exactly. Fantasy football happy hour, fantasy life promoter, Matt. Yeah, well, so we're all friends on the
Starting point is 00:41:13 cock, on Peacock now. The cock, yeah. Of course, exactly. So we love the cock. We, somebody clipped that. What happened there? We follow you guys. We follow the Dan Leventard Show on Peacock, especially all this week. We're live from Radio Row here in New Orleans. So check that out. So if you play fantasy sports, if you bet on the game, we have a bunch of free betting advice, free betting tools, parlay builders, etc.
Starting point is 00:41:44 FantasyLife.com We enjoy our sit-down with you every single you're a good man And you have a great family and I look forward to the next family Sponsorship before you go look at me. I love you. I love you Tell her rooks with us here. Radio Row, New Orleans in his Super Bowl week. Chiefs and Eagles, the P&G Battle of the Paddles. Tell us about what you're doing there, Taylor.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Yeah, so P&G, third annual Battle of the Paddles event. Going to be playing some ping pong with some of our favorite NFL players. I'm teamed up with Kirk Cousins. We're going up against Micah Parsons, Chris Olave, Drake May, who are also teamed up with other celebrity fans. And it's going to be good. Single elimination. We play to 11.
Starting point is 00:42:37 Got to win by two. I'm excited. I'm not an advanced ping pong player, but I feel like I'm good enough to hold my own. But I'm hoping that Kirk Cousins just puts the team on his back and we can get the win in this one. All right, so do you know if Kirk is even good at ping pong? Honestly, I don't.
Starting point is 00:42:59 But I am a Falcons fan. I am from Georgia. So he is one of my two Bs. I have faith in him. Right. But honestly, something about Kirk strikes me as someone who's played ping pong in his day. Really? Really? And what would that be if you don't buy me asking? Kirk and he said, you know, my teammates always say I have the
Starting point is 00:43:23 dad's leg, but I think my swag has no swag. And I can just see that person being an expert on the ping pong table. That's how I envision Kirk. I think he's good at probably a lot of like, alt sports. So what have you been doing to prepare for this? You say you're like a novice amateur ping pong player. You're not good.
Starting point is 00:43:42 You're not great. You're not terrible, though. Like, have you been practicing? What have you been doing? novice amateur ping pong player. You're not good. You're not great. You're not terrible, though. Have you been practicing? What have you been doing? I've done some light practicing. I may have stopped at a bar or two that has ping pong table. I've learned that I have a much better backhand than I do forehand.
Starting point is 00:43:58 There's something about the control when you're going that way with the backhand. I need to improve my serve just a bit. But honestly, this is my thing with PNG Battle of the Paddles, which obviously I'm super, super excited to be a part of it. And I want to know, you need tips. I love this. So you need to learn how to slice, okay?
Starting point is 00:44:19 No top spin. Don't try to hit it hard. Just slice your backhand, slice your forehead, because what happens when you slice is the ball bounces and it comes back towards the net. Okay. Mm. That is so what's the key to a good slice? So you have to kind of go from up to down like this motion. You see the motion I'm making. You have to go up to down. Yes. Yeah. Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:44:42 And if you have any more tips, please, because I really want to beat Micah. OK. Wait, you want to beat who? Who'd you say you want to beat Micah? I want to beat Micah. Because all Micah's got to do is talk trash and go right into our existence.
Starting point is 00:44:56 OK. Who is the best ping pong player of the group? Do you know? I really don't know. I hope it's Kirk. I'll say that. It better know. I hope it's Kirk. I'll say that. It better be. This is so good. I love this. I love big buck. So listen, sandpaper rackets. I don't know if you have those, those help velocity and then the underspin. Okay. Underspin. Okay. So slice. Yes.
Starting point is 00:45:21 Get you a sandpaper racket. Yes. Figure out your underspin. Yes. Yes. And again, the slice is all about the angle. So the balls get about this way as opposed to going right to them, right? Make a move. Make them do something. You know, get mobile, get active. Yeah. Yeah. Are you are you? I'm not just saying that I I will be. I'm not just saying that, I will be. So when you're watching ECG Buster Battles, streaming on Complex's YouTube channel, and you need to do the slice, just know it was for you. Taylor, I'm telling you right now, I'm going to watch it.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Okay? I am. I'm going to watch it. If I don't see a slice backhand out of you, I'm going to be very, very... I'm going to bring you back on, and I'm going to be very upset. And I'm going to talk to you about this. And I'm going to teach you how to do the slice backhand. Okay. All in on that. Now I'm like, okay, you need to get I need to get my slice over the net.
Starting point is 00:46:13 That's my fear now. Yes. It's a kind of go all the way. But I got you. I'll be working on it. Are you excited for the game this weekend? I'm so excited. I can't wait to be in the building.
Starting point is 00:46:24 I love the energy of the Super Bowl. I can't wait to be in the building. I love the energy of the Super Bowl, so it's going to be great. And of course, an amazing matchup. And coincidentally enough, the first PNG Battle of the Paddles was the same matchup. It was Eagles-Cheeps. Wow. A little deja vu, but I think that this year I'm going to win Battle of the Paddles. Okay, so the first battle of the paddles, it was the Chiefs who won the Super Bowl. This year you're saying you're going to win the battle of the paddles. Who's going to win the Super Bowl?
Starting point is 00:46:52 I think, and I, so I am not a person, it's very clear to me that so many people are like anti-Chiefs, they don't want the Chiefs to win. I don't feel that way. I think it's really great that we get to watch greatness and they say, I'd be happy for this to repeat and be there to watch history. So if Chiefs win, amazing, good for them.
Starting point is 00:47:11 I would personally love to see the Eagles win. So I will be sort of, you know, with my fan hat on be rooting for the Eagles. I just love what Saquon has been able to do this year. Happy that Jalen is back in the Super Bowl. I just like the story of it. So I think that's who I'm gonna go with. Are you, do you have Philadelphia ties or you?
Starting point is 00:47:32 Well, Sequon, I'm very, very close with Sequon and his family. Okay. I've been with Sequon since he first got into the league. And it's funny, so every year, obviously Sequon's birthday is February 9th. So this year he's playing the Super Bowl on his birthday. But every year, we always do, like, something really big with his family.
Starting point is 00:47:51 Like, three years ago, we all did Mexico. The other year, we just rented out the spot and did a big dinner. Wow. And after week one this year, I texted and said, I just have a feeling that this is going to be the first year that we are at the Super Bowl. No, I'm rooting for the Eagles. Okay, that is an amazing story.
Starting point is 00:48:17 So pretty crazy, right? Right. Well, I saw the vision early. Yeah, no, that's incredible. But since you're so close with him, was he as shocked as everyone else was when the Giants let him go and went to the Eagles? I mean, it's ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:48:32 Well, I think that at this rate, Saquon just loves the story that he now has, right? Right. You know, he went to this new team and just found new life. I interviewed him for our Thursday night football game that we had with the Eagles. And he was just like, you know, I didn't know what my value was gonna be.
Starting point is 00:48:49 And I didn't know what people thought my worth was going to be. And he was like, I've learned through this that all of those are just words. Like what one person thinks about you is different than what somebody else does. So he's just obviously all in with Philly and loves this circumstance and loves his teammate.
Starting point is 00:49:05 But I mean, of course, winning is very fun. So I'd love it, too. Have you planned the birthday celebration if indeed the Eagles win the Super Bowl on Sunday, like the post-birthday celebration? Yeah. I'm sure they have that all figured out by now. It's a birthday.
Starting point is 00:49:21 So regardless, there will be some sort of celebration of life. But I know his mind is mainly on winning that game. It's all his friends and family that care about the birthday. Right. He's like, I have a Super Bowl to win. Yes. Listen, the reason you saw it was because he's no longer on the Giants.
Starting point is 00:49:38 And you knew the Eagles had a legitimate shot of making it to a Super Bowl. So that's a good job out of you, Taylor, OK? Like. Hey, what can I say? Now you know what people see? Me winning Battle of the Battles. I got to manifest that. the the the the the
Starting point is 00:49:52 the the the the the the the the players go against one another in a double single elimination tournament. Plans and Ping Pong will be streaming on Complex's YouTube channel Wednesday at 7 Eastern Time. All right. You gave me a reason to watch slice backhand only, not forehand. Forehand little topspin, backhand slice.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Okay. Got you. All right. All right. You're gonna win it Taylor. I feel it. All right. I do too. I appreciate the tip. You love you. I love you. Alright. Alright. You're going to win it Taylor. I feel it. Alright. I do too. I appreciate the tip. You got it. Enjoy your week, okay? You too. Okay. Thank you, Taylor. Starting point is 00:52:08 How you doing? Will Schilf. One of the all-time greats. How often, like, percentage of time you have that ring on your finger? Ooh, that's a nice looking ring, Billy. I would say 30%. 30% of the time.
Starting point is 00:52:23 Just 30? Will? You know, special occasions or just in case I walk into the bedroom, I pick it up and put it on and then put it back down. Have you ever lost it? No, actually I've had it stolen once, though. Really?
Starting point is 00:52:36 What happened? Yeah, man. We were in Colorado and we were visiting my son and they actually broke into the car and stole it out of the car. Wow. Why'd you get it back? Yeah, but why'd you keep it into the car and stole it out of the car. Wow. Why'd you get it back? Yeah, but why'd you keep it in the car? Well, I wasn't really thinking.
Starting point is 00:52:49 I just gave a speech and all this other stuff. So I had my high school and all that other stuff and wasn't really thinking out there. So it happened. Right. Will is with us here on behalf of the NFL alumni and the Gear Up campaign. Tell us what you're doing this week with the NFL alumni and the gear up campaign. Well, we're talking about gear up for cancer. So basically, we're trying to let everybody know,
Starting point is 00:53:09 once you reach the age of 45, you need to have your colonoscomy, which is one thing that most people don't wanna talk about. But it is part of the cancer thing that you can actually scream for and that you can survive from. And I think most people don't realize it's just getting tested to find out what's going on and that makes can survive from. And I think most people don't realize it's just getting tested to find out what's going on
Starting point is 00:53:27 and that makes a big difference. And I think that's where we're talking about gear up for it. Make sure that once you're 45 or above, get your test done so that you know that you can, you know, take care of your life. I know there's a lot of things out there, but this is one that I think is very important for our community.
Starting point is 00:53:43 Are you impressed how like the chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, three kids, you're a former chief. Like how, you're a former great. And I'm wondering, do you watch this team and do you marvel at them the way we do? I do, I have fun watching it. Really? It's really cool. And because I'm closer to it, I guess.
Starting point is 00:54:00 Yeah. It's a lot more fun because I can yell at the TV and look at it and say, you know. You're a yeller at the TV when you want football? Well, because you're like us. Because I know. Because you personally know some of the guys. And you're going, man, what did you do that for? When does that stop?
Starting point is 00:54:14 Is that going to go on forever? Oh, yeah. If you love a game and love a sport, of course you are. I mean, that's part of it. I mean, that's what the ebb and flow of it. Or you say, hey, I'm going to change the mojo, so I'm going to move from the kitchen to the living room. You don't do that.
Starting point is 00:54:27 You don't do that. Well, she does us. Of course. I mean, this is amazing. I do it all the time. It never works for the Jets. I'm a Jet fan. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:33 There's only so much you can do. That face he just made. Oh, there's only so much you can change on that. Yeah. Got a new coach, which is awesome. So that's good. Yeah, we'll see. So what are you yelling at the TV?
Starting point is 00:54:44 Like, are you yelling like, give us an example, PI! No, I don't. All of that stuff I don't yell at. It's more or less watching technique. I watch certain things, and I was like, oh, man, how did you miss, hey, how did you not see that guy doing this? Or how did you not see that rotation? Because they're not as great as you, Will Shields.
Starting point is 00:55:00 That's why. No, it's just because that's how I watch the game. And I'm watching my guards and my tackles, and I'm going, ooh, that's a bad set. Oh, you didn't use your hands or this kind of stuff. You know, how do you recover? How tired are you of the question of the phantom penalties that Patrick's some benefits from?
Starting point is 00:55:19 A little bit. That comes with winning, I think. There are certain things you can't control. Yeah. And that's the one thing about it. It's not like he's, hey, begging for it or what have you. I mean, you could make anything spin the way you want to say it spin.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Yeah. And you're looking at it, and everybody's going, oh, well, he was asking the rest to let him know when he was near. I was like, no, he wasn't talking about the guy. He's talking about his offensive tackle. Right. You know, it's just, and some people are knowledge-based. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:40 It's understanding. And yeah, there are some penalties that you look at and be like, ooh, yeah, that could have went either way. Right. And I think when you're winning, it makes understanding. And yeah, there are some penalties that you look at and be like, ooh yeah, that could have went either way. And I think when you're winning, it makes it harder. And I think that's the whole thing, because it used to be us thinking about the Patriots. Yeah, exactly right. Well, I thought the same exact thing, yes.
Starting point is 00:55:56 And they thought it about Jordan the Bulls, too. Yes. Exactly. I was wondering if the Chiefs fandom blinded that at all, or if the football players were like, I don't know about this one. Yo, there's a penalty is a penalty. And you look at it and you're going, ooh, yeah, I wouldn't player's like, I don't know about this one. Yeah, there's a penalty is a penalty. And you look at it and you're going, ooh, yeah,
Starting point is 00:56:06 I wouldn't have called that. I would have did this. And we're just as judgmental on our own teams. If you're really a player, you're just as judgmental on your own team as you are on others. And you're looking like, oh, man, he got away with that. Or this person did this or this, that, and the other. Or you go, yeah, we did get a call.
Starting point is 00:56:22 Who's the, was there a D lineman that kept you up at night? You were so great at your job. Was there a guy you had your face on Sunday where you're like, man, I'm not going to sleep the night before? There's a few of them. John Randall was the main one. Oh, he's crazy that guy. That was a beast.
Starting point is 00:56:34 Oh man, he would give me fits all the time. He's one of those guys you'd be like, I got to face him this week. Let me, I got to do some extra work. I got to do some extra study and I I gotta figure all that good stuff out. But he was that guy that basically would give me fits. And my rookie year is when we first sort of met. And we're at training camp and he shows up and he's going, hey man, he's talking back and forth of, hey, what's going
Starting point is 00:56:58 on and he's doing his little arm thing and all of that good stuff. So it was fun to just sit there and I'm sitting there as a rookie going, I gotta block this? This is what's gonna happen. I was like, oh my goodness, this is gonna be crazy. And so he, on that line, they had three Hall of Famers. So we got indoctrinated by them as a rookie year. So it was good. Like Chris Dolman and those guys? But it set the tone for where I wanted to be for the rest of my career.
Starting point is 00:57:23 Right. Billy, this is interesting because Will Shields won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. And we have someone on our show, Greg Cody, a columnist for the Miami Herald, who made a very controversial statement saying he would rather win, and most players would rather win, the Super Bowl MVP as opposed to winning
Starting point is 00:57:41 the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. The most prestigious trophy. What are your thoughts there? Well, I think first and foremost. He wasn't trying to discount the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. The most prestigious trophy. What are your thoughts there? Well, I think first and foremost... He wasn't trying to discount the importance of the award. He didn't mention you specifically. And I get that, but when you walk your way down that path and you look at it and you see how many people
Starting point is 00:57:55 have actually made it to the Super Bowl, how are you going to be that person that's going to win an MVP if you can't get there? And that makes it hard, where Walter Payton, man, of the year is about your community service, what you've done, and how you build it, and how you bring your teammates and your community together. Right.
Starting point is 00:58:13 So there's difference within that parameter. So you might not win that MVP during the year, but for your community, you're the MVP, man. Yes. You've actually done enough work to put in where somebody noticed that you've done something enough and be able to make it happen and change somebody's life. Listen, you can't win a Super Bowl unless you make it to the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:58:31 He's right, Billy. You know what you can do? All you can do is be a good person. Exactly. Tell Greg Cody, you want to tell him to go believe himself? Yeah, tell him. What do you want to do? Go ahead and tell him.
Starting point is 00:58:38 He'll take it. I wouldn't tell him that. I'd just say, you know, you just got to understand where you're coming from. And we know that, hey, there's only so many teams that's going to get to the Super Bowl and be MVP. It would be nice. It would be nice to have a Super Bowl ring
Starting point is 00:58:50 or whatever that is. I said, but there's only one ring given out to one team. Where Walter paid many years, there's only one person that actually receives that every year. And it's for the work you did in your community. So I think both of them are valuable. But I think for me, I'm happy with the one I got. I wish I would have gotten the other one,
Starting point is 00:59:08 but you can only get what you can take. Well, hold on, hold on. Devil's advocate here, if you could trade Man of the Year for Super Bowl MVP, would you? No. Oh, good. He's a good guy. He is a good guy.
Starting point is 00:59:20 I like it. That's why he won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. Walter Payton Man of the Year. Some people are out here and they're saying, you know what? I'm gonna tell Greg Cody to go bleep himself. Exactly right. People are out here selling mustard. They're selling different things.
Starting point is 00:59:28 What's he saying? Hey, you should get screened for cancer. Yeah. He's a good guy. Tell us one more time. Well, all the way out, we appreciate it. Well, we're here for the NFL alumni. And actually, it's NFL A gear up backslash cancer,
Starting point is 00:59:42 so that you guys can actually go and get your screening. And we're actually coming to here, actually, in the next couple of months and doing major screenings. So we have four different places that we're doing it right now. But we're also going to take the show on the road so that everybody can get the screenings done so that they can make sure that they're as healthy as they can be to live as long as you can.
Starting point is 01:00:02 Molinoscopy road show. Yes, sir. I like it. You're not performing, though. No. OK, go. I'm already done. Molanoscopy Roadshow. Yes, sir. I like it. You're not performing, though. No. No, no, no. I'm already headlined.
Starting point is 01:00:08 Sorry. I don't want to go anywhere. Are you taking the Eagles, or? I don't know. Come on, man. You should know. 14-0. Come on, man.
Starting point is 01:00:14 I can't believe someone stole that ring. They saw that ring. They saw your name on it. Like, you know what? Taking this is a good idea. No, the thing that shocks me more is you kept it in the car. If I, if I go in, if I'm, look, I'm not a car thief. Hey, it's one of those things that when you're packing stuff up and you got out of your bags and everything else,
Starting point is 01:00:32 it's like, it just sort of gets your brain, and you're like, hey, I'm going to go for a walk over here across the thing, and I'm going to wear it across, you know, as I go up this mountain and then come back down, you know. You would never imagine, like, oh, I forgot something in there. And I was like, yep, I did. If I break into a car, I see that.
Starting point is 01:00:48 I'm closing the car. I'm trying to fix the window however I got in, and I'm running the hell away. But you go in for the car, you walk out with the ring. I mean, you don't want the car anymore. What's the ring? Well, it never showed up again, so I don't think they got too much for it.
Starting point is 01:00:59 Yes. Yeah. Will Shields, I had to tell you something, man. I love you. Well, thank you. I appreciate it. All right. Thank you you. Well, thank you Thank you for your time sir, no problem. Thank you guys We appreciate to keep up the good work and enjoy the enjoy the game this weekend. I will all right
Starting point is 01:01:15 Billy asked Ed McCaffrey is with us and I'm excited about this and we'll talk to him about self and McCaffrey brands He has Rocky Mountain mustard protein, Protein Bites. He's got a lot going on right now. Radio Rose Super Bowl week. He asked me if I wrote this book and Billy responded, well, not exactly. No. You know, the content is yours.
Starting point is 01:01:37 It's a great question. The content, Ed. Yeah, the content is yours. Thank you. The content is mine. Someone transcribed the content onto paper, because I can't do that. I can't write.
Starting point is 01:01:47 I don't think you can even read my writing. I'm not a typer. Who has time to go through spell check? That's exactly right. I'll give you the story, and you just kind of put it down onto paper. Ed actually put it perfectly. Stugats moving forward.
Starting point is 01:02:00 I think you should say this. He said, you published a book. Yeah. Which is exactly right. You published a book. Listen, it is exactly right. You published a book. Listen, it pays the same. I'm good with it. But still, life is about stories and storytelling.
Starting point is 01:02:11 And the stories are yours. The content is yours. Thank you. Somebody else can do the hard work. You can talk to them and let them write it down. Listen, you get me. Yeah. Yes.
Starting point is 01:02:20 You get me. Tell us what you're doing here. Self and McCaffrey Brands, Rocky Mountain Mustard. You have Protein Bites. There's some bags right in front of us here. So how did you get into this? Well, thank you for asking. You got it.
Starting point is 01:02:32 God bless football. And God bless McCaffrey Brands Protein Bites. And I'm so proud of this. I've been in the food product business for over 25 years. I had mustards and horseradish sauces, which I still sell to this day, that I've been selling since the 90s. And I did it because a friend of mine introduced me
Starting point is 01:02:49 to the idea of having food products. We also had at one time Ed's Enzo Nose, which was a frosted Cheerio. Ooh. The box was really, it was a cool box. Ooh. It was a collectible. The quality of the cereal was just okay, not great.
Starting point is 01:03:01 But I was still playing, we were winning Super Bowls. It was a fun thing to do. We had Eddie Mac and cheese. Oh my gosh. Oh wow. Right I was still playing, we were winning Super Bowls. It was a fun thing to do. We had Eddie Mack in cheese. Oh my gosh. Oh wow. I love you Eddie Mack in cheese. I love this. He was so proud of that.
Starting point is 01:03:11 Yeah. Eddie Mack in cheese. It was good, good. But the mustard that we made was phenomenal. We, you know, I met this family that's been in the industry for a hundred years. They came over from Germany and made spicy brown mustard. It helped me come up with a recipe that I was proud to put my name on.
Starting point is 01:03:28 And the mustard has sells, even though now I'm Christian or Luke's dad, or I'm the mustard guy, right? It's because they have it in their fridge. Yes. You know, it's sold because it's a great product. That's how it sells for 25 years. So I stopped coaching a couple of years ago. I partnered with my business partner to try to grow our business. So we expanded our lines of mustard and horseradish sauces, which you can buy either online or in King's Supers and Safeways in City Markets in Colorado.
Starting point is 01:03:55 But I wanted to create a healthy snack for everybody. I have four boys, my wife Lisa and I are in cars driving them to practices and games, driving carpool at school. They always are hungry and need something to eat. If kids don't get their sleep or don't eat properly, you know, they're a handful. And something that's easily digestible, I got a couple of kids that have some allergy issues. And so what is, you know, gluten-free, non-GMO, healthy, that tastes great?
Starting point is 01:04:20 Because how many healthy foods taste awful? All of them. It's like you're chewing on cardboard, right? Exactly. You're right, Ed. It's like you're chewing on the heel of your shoe and you can barely stomach them. So I'm like, what can every kid eat, regardless of allergies, that is healthy for you but tastes great?
Starting point is 01:04:34 And it took me forever to find a manufacturer that could create these because I think they're delicious. Now I wanna hear what you guys have to say. At some point during the week, try them. Give me honest positive feedback. No, I want to hear what you guys have to say. At some point during the week, try them. All right. Try them right now. We'll try right now. Positive feedback, right? But these, again, are super healthy, gluten-free,
Starting point is 01:04:50 non-GMO, vegan. They're made with all natural premium ingredients. And they're very low calorie as well. But they have protein in them. A lot of the unhealthy snacks don't have any protein. I don't think people consume enough protein throughout the day. Here's the thing, Ed. It's so incredibly important. You say non-GMO, you say gluten-free, all this stuff. And I'm like, I don't have any protein. I don't think people consume enough protein throughout the day. Here's the thing Ed, you say non-gmo, you say gluten-free, all this stuff and I'm like I don't know and then I open it sprinkles. Yeah I'm in.
Starting point is 01:05:12 Like a little frosting, a little frosting. So the flavors. I just had the chocolate chip cookie dough. I'm telling you, listen I'm being serious. Please be serious. These are delicious. They really are. Ed I I love you. Thank you. I love you too. You know what? You just sold a couple books. Wow. You're gonna buy me books? I'm buying a couple books.
Starting point is 01:05:30 Don't even give me one for free. I'm buying them. Amazing. I'm buying them online. But no, so far we've gotten such great positive feedback. Everyone seems to like them. And I'm so excited because they actually taste good. I'm glad you like them as well.
Starting point is 01:05:41 I'm sure eventually there'll be some curmudgeon that doesn't like them. Yeah. But it's so hard to get a good tasting healthy snack food. So you should still eat healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But that time before dinner, it's like still a couple hours away. Or during the show, right?
Starting point is 01:05:54 You can't throw down a cheesesteak here while you're trying to do the show. No. Slop all over the place. No. You know, feel bloated all day long. So this gives you a little pop, a little energy throughout the day.
Starting point is 01:06:03 You're eating healthy. You're doing what's right for your body. But it also tastes good, and you're not chewing on cardboard of all the things you talked about today I think the thing I'd most be proud of is being known as the mustard man. Yeah, yeah I think I would not the father of two NFL players My goal is to one day be the mustard king of Castle Rock, Colorado Really I'm on my way, but how do we get yet. How do we get you there? Goals. You know, share them with the universe. Who's the present Mustard King of?
Starting point is 01:06:27 When you wrote the book, you shared it with the universe. Of course I did. I'm going to write a book. Yeah. So well, there's some pretty stiff competition there in Colorado. But I'm going to get there. I'm going to get there.
Starting point is 01:06:37 Completely unfamiliar with the Mustard competitions in Colorado. He doesn't want to promote their brand. Yeah. With your endorsement and your support, I think I can get there, guys. You know, and I was thinking about this, OK? The Golick family is right next to us.
Starting point is 01:06:51 The Manning family gets all this love. Why does the McCaffrey family, you play in the NFL, you won Super Bowls, you have two sons. Why are you not the first family of football? We were talking about all the father and son and brother combinations. And the Matthews family's the father and son and brother combinations and the Matthews family's got uncles and fathers and players. There's so many great football families.
Starting point is 01:07:10 I mean, I don't think you can beat the Manning brothers. Their dad played and they both won two Super Bowls. Right. Yeah. But you know, I'm surprised that more professional athletes don't have their kids that follow in their footsteps because obviously, you know, if they're genetically blessed, it's probably a path like There's people in venture capital and private equity in Silicon Valley whose kids go into venture capital and private equity You know, they grow up around it and they fall in love with the sport
Starting point is 01:07:35 I think it's the greatest sport in the world, but I have four boys my oldest son Max they're on this picture by the way Yeah, it's beautiful. Very nice. Yeah Yeah, if it was NIL they they could have cashed in and called. Well, maybe they still cashed in. My oldest son Max coaches for the Dolphins. I'm so proud of him. He played in the league five or six years, fell in love with coaching.
Starting point is 01:07:53 Christian, obviously, is playing with the 49ers. My son Dylan played at Michigan, played FPS football. I got to coach him a year. He's now a fisherman in Hilton Head Islands. Wow. If you ever want to go fishing for some redfish in South Carolina, let me know. But he helped.
Starting point is 01:08:07 I'm going to let you know. I think I will. He's been part of this whole McCaffrey brand. He's no longer playing football, but he has really helped us develop this product. And as a fisherman, he's out on the boat all day long and very outdoorsy and hunting, fishing, you name it. And so he carries around.
Starting point is 01:08:23 But he's been very helpful with the brand. And it's been fun to work with him. And then Luke was a rookie with the Washington commanders this season. So Lisa and I still travel to games every single week. Every single week we're watching an NFL football game. And when we're not there in person, we're watching games on television.
Starting point is 01:08:38 Sometimes we're at the game with an iPad, watching them at the same time. I'm reading between the lines here, Seagots. And Ed didn't say this. He'd never say this, but he kind of said, a little bit easy for Christian. He had all these genetics, I mean, all he had to do was fulfill his destiny.
Starting point is 01:08:51 And unlike Ed, Ed had to come in here. Not only did Ed, Ed didn't have a leg up in the NFL and he didn't have a leg up in the mustard industry either. Right, he didn't have protein bites. Paving his own way, exactly right. Paving the way, baby. We were talking about that, you're talking about all these NFL families, right?
Starting point is 01:09:06 Yes. It's a blessing and a curse. Genetically, you've got to be talented enough to play in the NFL. I don't care who you are, what your name is. If you're not physically gifted, you can't be one of the best 0.001% of the people at what you do. But it requires a lot of hard work and determination.
Starting point is 01:09:21 Nobody in my family played pro sports. And I was the oldest of five kids. The expectations for me were zero. Right. Do whatever you want. What do we care? Right? But when you're the kid.
Starting point is 01:09:32 They were just happy you weren't getting in trouble. Right. Yes. Football for me was like cheap babysitting. Hey, we're going to practice. What practice? Football. Really?
Starting point is 01:09:41 I didn't know I was on a team. Coach is looking after you. Drops me off with a water bottle and you start running laps. And what are we doing here? And it was, you got five kids, your parents, you got three kids in three years and all of a sudden you're like,
Starting point is 01:09:53 they gotta be participating in activities. Get out of the house. And it wasn't fun in the beginning, but I fell in love with it. But when you're, you know, my kids have pressures I never had, like these guys that you're talking about, they grew up, like the Manning brothers even, their dad played in the NFL,
Starting point is 01:10:08 who knew they were gonna be as good as they were. But they're probably, when they were younger, always getting compared to their dad. If you're not an NFL player, then you didn't live up to expectations. I never had to deal with any of that. So I know a lot of pro athletes in football and other sports, they don't even want their kid to play the sport.
Starting point is 01:10:24 So I don't want them to have to endure that kind of criticism or pressure. And so Lisa and I never signed them up. Interesting. We said, you have to do something. You're not going to sit around the house playing video games all day. But it could be part of STEM.
Starting point is 01:10:38 Hey, join the chess team. Play sports if you want. But you have to be engaged. Follow your passions. What is it you love to do? And so we made sure they had to do something, but we let them choose. So when they asked, it was my oldest son Max when he was nine, had a friend that played football. He's like, hey can I sign up for football? We're like, sure, we weren't gonna prevent him from playing if that's what they wanted to do.
Starting point is 01:10:57 And as soon as Christian saw Max playing, he couldn't get enough of it and then his little brothers followed. As the father of an athlete who's playing at Northwest in La Crosse, Women's La Crosse, which is the pinnacle of her sport, I imagine that watching your sons do it, play football, is more gratifying for you than you playing yourself, correct? You want more for your kids than you want for yourself.
Starting point is 01:11:17 Every parent I talk to, you got a son, you got a daughter. They're playing. It doesn't matter what sport it is. It doesn't matter if they're singers or actors. You want them to succeed so well more than you've ever wanted it for yourself. And that's the blessing of being a parent. It's also one of the most challenging things,
Starting point is 01:11:33 because you can't do anything about it. It's hard, yeah. Win, lose, or draw, we're here for you. We love you. I'm not on the field. I can't make a play for you. Right. One of the reasons my kids loved lacrosse
Starting point is 01:11:42 is because I didn't play lacrosse. Really? Yeah. They're like, all right. So they want to do something I didn't play lacrosse. Really? Yeah. They're like, all right. So they want to do something dad didn't do, right? Just the dad. Like, you don't even know what you're talking about. So then I started studying up, and I
Starting point is 01:11:51 tried to give them one tip. I'm like, you got to bend your knees and keep your arms straight when you're scooping. And they're like, shut up. That's a very generic tip right there. You're ruining lacrosse for me. OK. I'm lucky in that I haven't been great at anything,
Starting point is 01:12:05 so my children have nothing to compare themselves to. Right. Every track and field, you were pretty good. Let me ask you something. So is there a rival condiment to mustard? Let's say some of your children come out, like Luke or Dylan. They say, you know what? We want to come after the throne,
Starting point is 01:12:19 but we're going to go against mustard. Is ketchup your rival? No, it's not a rival. It's a completely different category. OK. Oh, wow. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:28 And there's some, obviously, Heinz is by far the number one ketchup on the planet. But they got some pressure with some competitors jumped up and produced ketchup without corn syrup because of health concerns. So then Heinz copied them and did the same thing because you have to follow the trends and you want to be health conscious.
Starting point is 01:12:48 But there's, I mean, think about it. There's so many, I'm not going to name the names, there's so many very popular mustard brands that are in every grocery store on the planet, right? But what we've been able to do is one, create a phenomenal product. Like our spicy brown mustard, I would put next to any mustard on the planet.
Starting point is 01:13:04 There's not a better spicy brown mustard on the planet earth than what we produce really it's it's absolutely delicious you can't beat it which is why it's still sold after 25 years but we've also been able to create a little bit of a niche in our business because the bigger brands don't always want to experiment with new flavors and new products so we've created a chipotle mustard you don't find a created a chipotle mustard. You don't find a lot of chipotle mustards. We have a sriracha.
Starting point is 01:13:28 We have a squeeze bottle with horseradish sauce. It tastes delicious. We came out with a smoky horseradish, slightly different flavor. The bigger companies are making so much money and have so much success with their main brands, they don't need the brand sauce in different categories. So we can be nimble and quick, which is what we have to do.
Starting point is 01:13:45 We can provide, you know, our main retailer is King Super's in Colorado, which is owned by Kroger, and City Markets, so when they want to come up with a new product because of the changing demographics, or for any other reason, we can work really quickly. So we're more like a speedboat than, you know, an aircraft carrier. And so that's been a very efficient and successful thing
Starting point is 01:14:07 for us to do. So over the years when they've needed honey mustard, we've created honey mustard. Dijon, we created Dijon. And we'll continue to do that, and I think that's where we fit in. It's tough to stand toe to toe with billion dollar corporations.
Starting point is 01:14:20 We're a mom and pop, small company, make healthy food, make good tasting food. Billy, what do you imagine that to be like? You know, we spent some time with him, like when he's on the sidelines or he's in the stands and he's watching his kids play football and something doesn't go their way. What do you imagine him to be like? Because he's right, it is difficult. Not like this. Not as cool as he's being right now. Oh, thank you. I was like, I didn't know where that was going. No, no, you're very cool. You're a great guy, very relaxed. But are you relaxed when you're watching them? I am. I am now. But no, you're very cool. You're a great guy, very relaxed. But are you relaxed when you're watching them?
Starting point is 01:14:46 I am now. But as a parent, look, we're just talking parents. You love your kid. You want him to succeed. There's probably going to be a time throughout their childhood where you're more relaxed and you're saying and doing the right things and you're there for them.
Starting point is 01:14:58 You're not making it about you. And then there's probably a time, for whatever reason, where you get too intense. And I've gone through that. Yeah. There was a time where I was sitting up in the stands and my wife's like, I'm not even going to sit next to you. Of course. Yes.
Starting point is 01:15:11 And you know what? In those moments, I realized me having any kind of anxiety, it's not helping them. But it's also pushing me away from my wife, who I love, and meeting my other kids. So I'm like, it's challenging to be a parent. I respect parents. The number one thing you can do is love them and support them.
Starting point is 01:15:27 They just want to know you're there for them no matter what happens. One of the challenges for me because I coached all my kids is knowing when to take the coach's cap off. They don't need it on the ride home. They don't need it at the dinner table. Now I'm at the point where if they ask me, I'll volunteer advice, but if they do not ask me, I will not volunteer advice. Right, makes sense. Do you ever wear the three Super Bowl rings just to like remind them, hey, dad's got three of these? You know what? I don't have... Only recently I wanted to buy Lombardi trophies and put them up in my house, and I've never displayed my rings because
Starting point is 01:16:01 going back to what we said earlier, I never wanted them to feel the pressure of having to be a Super Bowl champion to be successful. So even to this day I don't have my rings. I did bring one here because I got one for calling games on the radio. John Elway gave me my fourth Super Bowl ring for calling the game. You didn't have to do that. That's very nice of him. Very appreciative. So I'll wear that one because if I lose it, I can replace it. OK. But you tell people you have four rings, right? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:28 Yes. Good. I got one for each kid. They each get a ring. All right. We appreciate the time. One more time on the way out here, tell us again about Self and McCaffrey brands and these great products we just tried.
Starting point is 01:16:39 Yeah, super healthy snack. I think you'll love them. Birthday cake, chocolate chip cookie dough, fudge brownie. You guys gave me your endorsement, so that's enough for me. Yep. And you're buying some books. I'm you'll love them. Birthday cake, chocolate chip cookie dough, fudge brownie. You guys gave me your endorsement so that's enough for me. Yep and you're buying some books. You know put down the junk food, pick up a healthy snack mcaffreybrands.com. I hope you like them. Okay and one more time. I love you. I love you. Right back at you. Thank you. Oh he doesn't really like it.
Starting point is 01:16:59 I love you too. I love you too. And I'm buying your book. Wow! Two copies. Congrats on publishing. Congrats on publishing. You're a great salesperson. Yes.
Starting point is 01:17:11 I'll buy multiple copies. You know what? One for each kid. This holiday season I already know my white elephant gift. Alright. That's a nice compliment. Ah! That's a perfect ending though.

KM Jordan one of the really good guys in the NFL, one of the really good guys in general is joining us right now. I love you man.
Starting point is 01:18:58 What are you doing with Old Spice and what's in your head right now? Man, when I think about Old Spice, when I think about football in general, about the trench warfare that goes on between offensive linemen, defensive linemen, coming in after practice, hot, sticky, upset, you know, you're showering and even after showers you've got sort of got that like, I'm still sweating feeling. That's why you need something like a game changer, right? Old Spice is reinventing the game again. You know, we think about the deodorant game,
Starting point is 01:19:25 you think about how you just apply. No, no, no, this is a sweat-absorbing, total body dry-fill deodorant here. We're talking about you can use it anywhere, 24-7 total body freshness. I mean, pits, sure, chest, yeah. You know, lower back, most likely for a big guy. You have some in your pocket.
Starting point is 01:19:41 I mean, I'm not going to say that I just keep one on me, but I keep one on me. Wow. Okay. Mandarin sandalwood, it is what it is. It gives you a nice little freshness. I've been walking, somebody was like, oh, you smell nice. I was like, don't worry, sweetheart. It's just mandarin sandalwood. Is it weird if I smell it?
Starting point is 01:19:53 No, check it out. Check it out. That's what I'm saying. It's going to give you like a like, oh. It's almost Mojito-esque. Really? I'm just saying. Take a bite of this, Tugatsi.
Starting point is 01:20:03 Take a bite? OK, here we go. Take a bite. Mm, yummy. That's what I'm saying.. Take a bite of this, Tugatsi. Take a bite? Okay, here we go. Take a bite. Mmm, yummy. That's what I'm saying. It's nice. I mean, when you think about total body freshness, you think about what you want to do coming off of a great game, you want to smell nice as well, and that's going to give it to you. Delightful.
Starting point is 01:20:17 Yeah. Apply anywhere. See as you see fit. What's this massive box? Come on, man. It's not a massive box. This is my guy I'm walking around with. This is massive. This is the old Spice guy. That's a massive box to us, Billy. To him, it's massive box. Come on man. It's not a massive box. This is my guy. I'm walking around with.
Starting point is 01:20:25 This is massive. Like you were massive. Old Spice. Old Spice guy. That's a massive box to us Billy. To him, it's just you know, a box, right? It's just a guy. Yeah. Come on. This is an old, it's a, the wise old Spice guy. Right. You know, can old Spice total body deodorant may or may not make my uh my dad jokes hit a little bit better. And there we have him. Why ask this guy? Wow. Hello, how are you?
Starting point is 01:20:46 Who do we have winning this game? You're right. Old Spice guy, you wanna come sit down with us? Yeah, come on. Oh, hell yeah. Here we go. Make my dreams come true. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 01:20:59 I've always wanted to be like, and I'm on a horse. Gosh darn it. You wanted to do that? Yeah, I've always wanted this. I'm on a horse. Have you met him before? Absolutely not. Who has met a myth?
Starting point is 01:21:07 You don't meet myths. It's like the... Jeez. I gotta tell you, this is very exciting. I've done like 20 Super Bowls. I've never been more nervous or excited for a guest to sit down next to me than I am right now. I mean, this is amazing.
Starting point is 01:21:18 You didn't ride a horse in. Shirtless to Radio Rose Super Bowl week. Yeah, you didn't ride a horse in and I'm sort of like... That's why they say never meet your heroes. Yeah. Well, I'm meeting him today. Hi, Old Spice Guy. How are you?
Starting point is 01:21:28 Well, hello. Oh, boy. Of course he talks like that. Of course. The voice I've always wanted. Good to see you, gentlemen. Good to see you. What do we have here?
Starting point is 01:21:37 Oh, yeah, you tell us. You know, it's mini you in a box. You know, when we say Old Spice Guy, now I sort of want to throw this one away because we have the Old Spice Guy. The question, is he fresh? That's a foul proposition, which we both know. The answer is clearly yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:54 Yeah, yeah, yeah. When you think about the bourbon cherry scents that also come with the new scented flavors, come on, you're going to have to think that we're always going to stay fresh. You have to stay fresh. You never have to get fresh. Right. Cam Jordan is the best pitch man I have ever heard in my entire life. He's gunning for my job. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, What is the coolest thing about being the Old Spice guy? Oh, man. Nobody knows your first name.
Starting point is 01:22:25 That's true. He's not the Old Spice. Old Spice. First name, last name guy. Probably horseback riding, you know, and staying fresh. Oh, my God. The voice. The voice.
Starting point is 01:22:36 The voice. Yes. Swan dive into total body freshness. Into total body freshness, yes. Cam, you've nailed it once again. Wait, so we can ask questions about the Super Bowl. Absolutely. And we'll get an answer from the Old Spice guys in a box.
Starting point is 01:22:51 Okay. That's him. Will Patrick Mahomes win Super Bowl MVP? Here, let me bring him up to the. Smells like a yes to me. Wow. That was easy. Wow.
Starting point is 01:23:02 You heard it from the guy on the horse's mouth. Wise old sage of an Old Spice guy. How did you, like, the process of becoming the Old Spice guy, how did that happen for you? Like, how many people wanted it besides Cam? I mean, I also wanted to be Green Lantern. And they just gave that away to a British guy. Jon Stewart is an American military man.
Starting point is 01:23:24 And we gave it away to a British guy. Undoubtedly,. John Stewart is an American military man, and we gave it away to a British guy. Undoubtedly, he has green eyes, so kudos to him. There was a lot of people who were in that audition room, but yeah, it was quite a few bare chested men running around that day. You were the best of them, though. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I just feel like, you know, yeah, when
Starting point is 01:23:43 you think about New Orleans, you think about good times and you think about hand grenades and the hurricane drinks, right? And of course, King Cake. Right. King Cake. When I think about total body spice, do I think about swagger, MVP? Do I think about cherry bourbon or man or sailor wood? I think about the Old Spice guy, V. He's coming for you, man.
Starting point is 01:24:02 I don't know what to tell you. No, no, then I'd be A Old Spice guy. Nobody wants to be A when you, man. I don't know what to tell you. No, no. Then I'd be A, Old Spice Guy. Nobody wants to be A when you can be V. Yeah. V, right? Do you have a question for yourself? No.
Starting point is 01:24:11 Yes, yeah. I do. I do. Me. Hello, me. Is Cam coming for my job? The answer's no. Yes.
Starting point is 01:24:21 Oh! Hey, brother. Hey, brother. Hey, brother. You put on his side. Well, that was crazy. There was no... There was no alluding to it. It's like he saw the inner depths of my soul.
Starting point is 01:24:34 I didn't apply enough deodorant to cover me. And that's on me. He felt your vibe. Kim, what are, like, the two or three things we have to do if we're staying in New Orleans this week? Come on. The first thing you have to do, other than Marvel at my city, is go find yourself a great king cake.
Starting point is 01:24:53 Mardi Gras season is upon us. So of course, it's finding a great place you can get crawfish at. That's fine. For me, I'm a desserts guy. So king cake is right up there. Ooey gooey cake, elite. Go get you a praline. Really? If you like confectioners sweet, I'm a desserts guy. So, King cake is right up there. Ooey gooey cake, elite. Go get you a praline.
Starting point is 01:25:06 Really? You know, if you like confectioners' sweets, I'm not going to say you're at the age where you probably enjoy candy corn. I love candy corn. I knew it. Underrated. It's overrated.
Starting point is 01:25:17 I like the ooey gooey cake myself. Of course you do. I mean, ooey gooey. You just like saying ooey gooey. Who doesn't like finger-licking good sweets? Absolutely. So yeah, if you're just saying, ooh-wee-goo. Who doesn't like finger-looking good sweets? Absolutely. Calm down. So yeah, yeah, if you're a candy corn guy,
Starting point is 01:25:28 you're going to love a Prolly. So those are my top three sweets you got to go get you some. What is the age of a candy corn guy? You said he looks like he's the age of a candy corn guy. Again, it's that age. You know how the emotion, the EQ of kids is so much higher of a threshold than it is when we were growing up, when I was growing up, when you guys were growing up.
Starting point is 01:25:48 It's just like the sweets. There is an age limit. Some guys will never know. Kids born after 2000 are never going to know about Charleston chews, Boston baked beans, and the likes of candy corn. Yeah. You love those old school candy shops, don't you?
Starting point is 01:26:01 I grew up watching my parents eat those types of things. And I was like baked beans. Nobody wants baked bops and baked beans as a candy. Candy corn is some of the worst candy in the world. The worst candy in the world. Like just go get you a sugar packet my guy. Eat chalk, anything but candy corn. Oh the things they'll never know. Can you stay here the entire day? they'll never know. Can you stay here the entire day? For ad-libs just like that. That's so good. What's the favorite word for you to say
Starting point is 01:26:29 with that incredible voice? I know there's a favorite word in there. Yeah, here we go. I'm on a horse. Or hello, hello ladies. Hello gentlemen. I can't even, hello ladies. No, my voice doesn't even, gosh darn it.
Starting point is 01:26:43 When I grew up and I looked at myself in the mirror, I was like, I'm gonna have the most incredible voice ever. I'm 6'4", 275 pounds as a 17 year old, as a senior in high school. And I was like, hell yeah, the voice is coming. And then like, just think about when it dropped. Voice dropped, so this is where it dropped to. We were up here for a while.
Starting point is 01:27:03 Sounded like Mickey Mouse. And I was like, this is not, this is not. Kim, are you complaining because you got a lot of gifts when you were born, man. Again, God gives all the soldiers, you know, every gift. And I got a lot of them, but we didn't catch a, we didn't catch a Kaleus Campbell. We didn't catch the old Spice Man.
Starting point is 01:27:19 You wanted Kaleus's voice? Like I can't even get that low. Like, is that me, fella? How you doing? And you're like, yes, Jesus. He's a friendly monster. Yeah, gosh darn it. Tiny me has a bigger chest than real me.
Starting point is 01:27:29 I don't know about that one. I don't know about that one. The pecs are percolating. Wait, would you rather be the Old Spice guy or be you? I mean, it seems like you'd rather be him. I mean, that's a conflict of interest. Wait, how many kids do you have? Two.
Starting point is 01:27:46 I might take him. You have four? I've got four. His house seems a little bit cleaner. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When you think about it, you know. Yes, yes, we all know about the terrible twos. Two is easy.
Starting point is 01:27:57 It's three when they get like a conscientious knell. Two, they're just like, no, no, no. Three is like, no, because I said so. Why oughta? If this was 1990s when I was growing up, I would have been caught back on you. 2000, what do we say? Hey, you don't say that.
Starting point is 01:28:12 Go to the corner, come back, breathe. We do breathing exercises in the 2020s. Yeah, yeah. We punish them with candy corn. That's what you have to do. Oh, you like candy, huh? Dad's brought something for you. That's no punishment.
Starting point is 01:28:26 He's going to lay out for that line. Say that again. I punish them with body wash. Staying clean. Don't leave me the entire day. I'll say I reward them. I'm like, who wants to smell like Mandarin Sandalwood? Any takers?
Starting point is 01:28:44 Knowing good and well, you know, my nine-year-old is like, yeah, I love smelling clean. You know, he gets dirty, and at the same time, he's like, Dad, what are we wearing? I'm like, wow, what are we wearing? Choose one, bro. Is it MVP? Is it Swagger?
Starting point is 01:28:55 Or is it now Cherry Bourbon? Is it a towel, or is it a shirt draped around your shoulders? I don't know. What is that around your shoulder? This is my shirt that I never wear. Yes. Why do you own one?
Starting point is 01:29:08 To put it around my neck. How dare you? Just in case you need it, or just like, you'll never need it. All heroes need a cape. For moments like now. Does anyone have any more questions with the man in the box? Come on.
Starting point is 01:29:22 Will Nick Sirianni be fired after this game? That would be ridiculous. Win or lose. Of course, my fresh friend. He said, but of course, my fresh friend. He's on the outs. Tough. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:34 Tough. I now know what it feels like to have a head coach get fired. Win, lose, or draw. Cam, last time we spoke to you, you told us how you would eliminate Gronk should you need to. Yeah. How would you eliminate the Old Spice guy if you needed to? Wow.
Starting point is 01:29:47 Make his gig. Yeah. Wow. Through nothing but time, because as the sage of an Old Spice guy that I'm carrying, you have to respect the OGs of the game. So if he ever decided to, unfortunately, just live out his age, I'd be like, and now my son can take over. We won't be long gone. Lies. I think he's calling you old. The Old Spice guy out his age. I'd be like, and now my son can take over. We'll both be long gone.
Starting point is 01:30:05 Lies. I think he's calling you old. Old Spice guy doesn't age. Yeah. Damn it. Didn't think about that one. I thought we were going to play full contact pickleball. I am.
Starting point is 01:30:16 And now you're speaking my realm. I drop it in the kitchen. Oh my god. I would ask you about football, but who cares? Yeah. Yes, there's a team. There's two teams playing on Sunday. Yes, it's going to be a high scoring game.
