We have arrived, we are tired, we're getting towards the end of the week.
We have done 1,000 interviews. We've done a lot of interviews so far.
By the way, today's episode of God Bless Football
is presented by DraftKings.
DraftKings, the crown is yours.
Who's who, man?
What?
Who's who this year?
I mean, I got to tell you.
What do you mean, who's who?
I mean, this is a packed, stacked Radio Row.
It's my kind of Radio Row.
That's all I'm saying.
Yeah.
Mikey, so I sprained my ankle last week, as I told you guys.
And then you saw me with a sprained ankle.
Then I caught not technically the flu,
but I got very sick earlier this week.
And I had to take medicine.
I thought I was out of the woods.
Now today, I'm wearing my glasses.
I don't know if you noticed that I was wearing my glasses.
I brought contacts for the trip.
When I come on radio row, I want to wear my contacts.
Right.
You know what I mean?
Make sure to look. Why? Because you don't feel like you're cool enough in the glasses? I mean, what's going on there? No, it's not a cool thing. I think you look good in the trip. When I come on Radio Row, I want to wear my contacts. Right. Why?
Because you don't feel like you're cool enough in the glasses?
I mean, what's going on there?
No, it's not a cool thing.
I think you look good in the glasses.
I had someone, Taylor, reach out to me
and say, this week is you dressing for the job
that you want.
I was like, thank you, Taylor, I guess.
But Taylor's just always insulting me anyways.
Anyways, today I'm rocking the glasses.
You know why?
Because I woke up with a swollen eyeball.
Really?
Yeah, well, I guess not my eyeball.
How does that happen?
It's my eyelid.
I think that I got a stye from recovering
from like fighting off the virus or whatever.
So basically whenever I think it can't get worse,
I wake up and it has somehow gotten worse the next day,
which is a fun little game to kind of see exactly
how tomorrow will be worse than today.
Yeah, I'm glad I spent the last couple of days
sitting right next to you.
Yeah, don't worry, I'm not contagious.
So says the doctor.
By the way, we're also presented by Smirnoff.
We do game days.
We do, yes.
Please drink responsibly.
Smirnoff Company, New York, New York.
Who is joining us on this episode, Billy?
A lot of people are joining us.
A lot of people.
Basically everyone.
A lot of people are joining us.
Wait, does Mikey want to run the road for her?
Basically everyone is joining us.
Hold on a second.
Hold on.
Let's not put the cart before the horse here.
Okay, we don't want to do that.
Which by the way, if you're listening later on,
you're going to hear about chicken farms and horse farms probably.
Yes, it confused all of us.
Unless you hear about it tomorrow because again,
I don't know what day it is.
I don't know what time it is.
I do know this though.
And you have a stye in your eye.
I do have a stye in my eye, which by the way is a good name for it.
Stye in the eye?
A stye, yeah, because it's in your eye.
Yeah.
Now we're talking about.
It is a good time to remind you guys that if you want to,
for the last time this season, you can compete against us in fantasy.
You go to dkng.co.smearnoff.
And this is the big one.
This is the big one.
This is the last time that you can do this this year.
And guys, I was going to say I think that this is the week for me.
I don't know that this is the week for me
because there's only two teams.
So many of the teams are going to be so similar
that I don't know how I'm going to be able
to find a roster that sticks out.
Right, you got to find it.
I'm taking Kenny Pickett.
Right, no, that's what you have to do.
I said that to Matthew Berry the other day.
You have to take one of the backups
in the event that one of the quarterbacks get hurt.
Yeah.
I think you said you'd take Wentz
and he just looked at you like you were a fool.
Well, I mean, most people do.
How does that make you feel?
I don't care.
Okay, good.
All right, anyway, so we have a billion interviews today,
or was it a billion and one interviews today?
It's billion and one today.
It's a billion tomorrow.
I think that, I think we're gonna get things started with Ed Reed
who's to God's dubbed the coolest person that he's ever met. No the coolest person on radio
route. Oh who have you met cooler than him? I've never well I'm not certain I'd have to think about that but Ed Reed is
he's certainly up there who is the coolest person ever you you without you without glasses. Thanks to God. With glasses, not as much.
Thank you for lying to me.
It's your insecurity, Billy.
Billy, I do think you're cool. I do.
Not as cool as I breathe, but I do.
Who is cooler than I breathe?
Fonz?
Oh boy. All right. With Fonz.
Has anyone in our audience heard of Arthur Fonzarelli?
Please give me that look.
It's got a thigh in his eye.
Let's talk to Ed Reed.
Ed, you're the coolest guy in here, man.
I gotta tell you.
I'm serious. You are.
He makes me the coolest, man.
Cause you're Ed Reed, man.
Is there an age, Edward,
you're gonna stop being cool or no? Right. Reed, man. Is there an age, Edward, you're going to stop being cool or no?
Right.
No, man.
My dad's still the coolest, man.
My dad's still the smoothest, man.
Oh, my god.
Cap'n man, man.
That's what we do.
You know?
Smooth to the day you die.
Right.
What are the keys to being cool, Ed Reed?
Because you are the coolest mother bleeper in this place.
Oh.
I mean, just treating people with with respect man. Yeah. At the end of the day
you just treat everybody with respect you know you meet them where they at.
Right. You know and good with yourself. Yeah. At the end of the day you know it's
I don't get caught up in the Jones type things you know I do what I want to do
for the most part wear what I
want to wear.
Yeah.
So long as like it's like Dion
said honestly.
Right.
That's what it goes back to
honestly that statement.
Right.
Feel good.
Right.
Dress good feel good feel good
play good play good.
Yeah.
Like all that.
Right.
Is it like without the pay good
stuff because you don't really
think about the pay as much like
money comes.
Yes.
You know like money going to come to you if you're doing the right things and moving the right way.
You know it comes to you man.
Right.
You know because they print it every day.
People get so caught up in that.
How you get caught up in something that's unlimited.
Right.
Why would you put a limit on something that is unlimited.
You'd have as much of it as you want.
You really could.
So why would you. I want to make this, I want to make that.
You know, I get it, setting goals, and I do that.
But don't limit it.
Right.
Yeah, don't limit yourself, man.
You know, so.
By the way, the greatness, the beard, the sunglasses,
all of that contributes to the coolness.
Yeah.
I mean, come on.
You know what I mean?
That's part of it, man. You know what I mean? You know, you just got to go with it, man, I mean, come on. You know what I mean? That's part of it, man.
You know, you just got to go with it, man.
You know, I done watched a lot of direct TV in my time.
That was well worth it.
Watching guys like Denzel, you know, and Samuel.
You know, Michael Jordan.
Joe Montana, man.
You know, guys of old.
Lawrence Taylor, now, who I talked to a good bit.
My man, Mel Blunt, who I met when I first became a Hall of Famer.
Really meeting a lot of the Hall of Famers.
Like those type of things, my dad, my parents, you know, Ms. Hall, Mr. Nip, my mentor, Mr.
Parkhead, his wife. Like those type of people what I'm saying? And my town and city, like things I grew up around, you know, when it was rough, it was
rough, but for the most part, everybody was, you know, they were like, you know, they were
like, you know, they were like, you know, they were like, you know, they were like,
you know, they were like, you know, they were city, like things I grew up around, you know, when it was rough, it was rough.
But for the most part, everybody was cool with the situations and circumstances that we had to live amongst.
Right.
You know, yeah, we needed more structure, needed more resources, but the things we had, people were cool with it.
You know, and that's that that coolness keep me on the ground.
Yeah, man. Yeah.
You've lived such a great life, a full life.
You do what you want to do.
But I'm guessing because Jimmy tells us all the time,
Jimmy Johnson, that his time at U.M.
is still the best time of his career, of his life.
I'm assuming U.M. is was the best time of your of your career.
Right. It's kind of hard.
It's kind of hard to take that era out of your life.
If you've been a Hurricane.
I know, but you played a legendary team in the NFL.
Yeah, man.
But when you're a Hurricane, it's different, man.
It can't really compare NFL and college.
It's different eras, different times in my life.
Sure.
In college, you're with your teammates more than you are in the NFL.
NFL is a business. It's like y'all work together now and then you're going home.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying? That's different.
Yeah.
College, we work together, we live together.
Yes.
We go to school together.
Right.
You see what I'm saying?
It's still got that pureness to it.
Different stage of your life.
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah. You still got that. Well, not the pureness, but you still got that togetherness, that. Different stage of your life. Yeah. Right. Yeah, you still got that.
Well, not the pureness, but you still got that togetherness,
that cohesiveness where you're still together.
Not when you put people away from each other.
That's why you still have training camp,
where they come together and approach.
Yeah.
Where they got that time when you got to get together.
And the teams that come together in that time,
really in the springtime, wins the championships.
Right.
That's what happens.
Most of these teams are here
thinking they can come to
August and trying to get ready
to win a championship.
A championship was ran was won
here in 2013.
That championship was won in
2012 right after the game.
We lost.
Yeah.
I was back to work like you
know what I'm going we're going to win back to work. Like, you know what?
We're going to win this championship in New Orleans.
You know what I'm saying?
If you play in the NFL, it's 365.
For all the parents and kids and all that want to know,
it's 365.
Football is 365 until you're done.
When you're done, you're done.
You finish, then you're done.
I can listen to you talk all day.
And I don't want to get on your bad side,
but we were talking to Christian Fulton a little while ago.
He was saying that the greatest college football
team of all time was his LSU football team that won
the national championship.
No, Joe Barone.
Well, and someone may have agreed with that.
No.
And I was taking it back.
Let's just talk about it.
How many draft picks they had off that team?
A lot.
But I'm not certain.
How many first rounders?
So you have Burrow, you have Chase, you have, I mean,
I'm certain there were probably four or five at least.
OK, and Cincinnati not doing anything, though.
I mean, yeah, they got the yards and all that, stats and s**t.
But OK, Burrow, MVP.
I like Burrow.
He actually changed my thought
on what I thought about him from college.
I didn't see him with those killer instincts like that.
Burrow is a mod.
I can't say I haven't seen that.
Now, if I was in Cincinnati,
if I was in Baltimore, it'd be different, but.
He still get his, Carson got his.
Like, you know, like I really,
I like Burrow on some real stuff.
I like Burrow, like, I like Chase. Those on some real stuff. I like borrow like I like chase.
Those guys are really good.
They were really good at LSU.
But no, man, come on, man.
How many Hall of Famers they got?
Not yet.
I mean, they're not right.
But a lot of them are done playing.
They never played against a defense like that.
How many of them are playing and doing big things besides?
Come on, give me the name.
Now I have to look it up.
Was that on that team? I don't even know. I have to look it up. Yeah, look at what they're doing.
I think it's time to just say, OK, it wasn't them, Stugett.
No, it ain't.
Listen, I'm not them.
They would not.
No, bro.
I am totally good with Ed saying it's not them.
It's us.
And the argument's over for me.
I don't think they'll call these guys up.
Did they ever talk about them beating the NFL team?
They didn't say that about them.
Well, Christian Fulton was making it sound like they could beat any NFL team, to be honest
with you.
They couldn't, dude.
But the Bengals are struggling to beat some NFL teams.
Yeah, exactly.
Like, come on, man.
Now you got me looking the LSU team up, man.
Yeah, please look them up while we're doing this, man.
Because that ain't even a debate.
I get a lot of people, like I'm from here, you know,
so I get a lot of people always saying that.
Like, no, bro, that ain't happening, man.
Yeah, the other thing he said is if you took an all-time LSU
team, that team would beat an all-time UM team.
Why are you even talking about this?
OK, OK, hold on a second.
Before you get him killed, hold on a second.
He did not say a UM team specifically. He did not say a UF team specifically.
He did not say a UF team specifically.
He said any team.
I'm only arguing this and entertaining this
because we talk about it.
But yeah, man, like, dude, I was on that team.
Yeah.
No, dude, y'all tripped.
No.
That's all you need.
Ain't nobody beating us.
What's coach you've been like for you?
It's been awesome, man.
I learned a lot. You know, I've been on the administrative side. Nobody's beating us. What's coach been like for you? It's been awesome, man.
I learned a lot.
You know, I've been on the administrative side.
I've been coaching.
I've seen every last side of football.
I've been on this side.
I've seen every last side of football.
I was a referee when I was young.
Does it give you a new appreciation from when you were a player now seeing all the other stuff?
Yeah, yeah, it does.
It does, man.
You get to see some stuff you didn't get to see,
and things have changed.
This game is different, but it's just, man.
It's like life.
You got to adjust.
Referee Ed Reed is crazy.
Oh my god.
Yeah, man.
Yeah, but I bet your referee Ed Reed,
once he experienced being a referee,
was probably lighter on the referee.
He's moving forward.
I mean, I always knew they probably lighter on the referee. He's moving forward. I mean, I go through hell.
Those guys always knew they were part of the game.
Yes, referees that knew me know me.
We had a decent relationship.
We had a decent relationship.
I spoke like, I see these guys now we speak to it.
Like, I speak to them because I knew them.
Like, they part of the game.
Right.
Like, I used to be, bro, you can pull up.
I used to be hiding behind him and they like, what are you doing?
I'm like, you're in the game. Like, stop be, bro, you can pull up, I used to be hiding behind him and they like, what are you doing? I'm like, you're in the game, like stop moving, bro.
Cause he's thinking like most guys go like,
you know they tap the, they tap the rough,
so they can see.
And I'm like, I'm just like behind him
and he's looking, I'm like, bro, stop moving.
I'm just like behind him and he's looking. I'm like, bro, stop moving. I'm just hiding behind you.
They're looking for me.
Coolest f----- guy in here.
By the way, Justin Jefferson was on that team.
Yeah, OK.
And what does he want?
What does he want after that?
What did they want after that?
Oh my god.
Well, they haven't had time yet.
Yeah, they had some time.
It's been like 10 years.
Justin Jefferson is from my high school.
Right.
I know.
OK.
Who went to my camp.
You taught him everything.
Hey, I teach him everything, but he got some knowledge
from McCain, baby.
Yeah, no, man.
I love that, though.
It's all about good competition.
One thing that will always be in sports
is going to be comparisons.
It's just a good comparison.
They had a great team.
And what we'll never see is those team play
unless somebody go and do it on college football,
something like that.
It's always a good fun, man.
But yeah, man, we's a team dog what are you doing with direct TV my
sports man direct TV is all across the world across the nation you know we
everywhere we're all in your streaming all right well ESPN on Fox on NFL
Network and my sports streaming comm direct TV man like I've been saying go on Fox, on the NFL Network. And MySportsStreaming.com, DirecTV, man,
like I've been saying, go study the game.
And if you want to study the game,
MySports has everything for you across the nation.
Again, like I said, so kids, parents,
put your kids in front of the TV,
want some sports on, let them study their craft,
you know, from DirecTV, MySportsStreaming.com, baby.
How many times did Ray Lewis give a pregame speech
and you guys just looked around at each other
and been like, what the hell is he talking about?
Man, that is hilarious, man.
Hey, is that Vaughn Miller?
Is it?
I think it is.
That is, I need to talk to you, man.
I need to talk to you, dog.
And Reed having a conversation with Vaughn Miller after I just asked him a bunch of Super Bowl radio.
That's what it's all about.
This is great.
You got a chicken farm?
You have a chicken farm?
Wait, you have a chicken farm?
You have a chicken farm?
A horse farm?
Come on.
We left off at Ray Lewis pregame speech. Yeah, man.
Man, I love that you do that.
I got chicken for him, man.
Like, you know, I need to talk to anybody.
Feel free to.
Chicken for him.
That's right.
I'm in the research.
I eat chicken and trying to sell chicken.
But if I made my own chickens, bang.
All right.
That's why you need to talk to them.
So Ray gave some epic speeches.
Right.
And yeah, there are times people would come up to me
to translate to Beyonce.
Because you speak fluent Ray Lewis.
I do.
That's my bro.
I know everything for the most part.
Yes.
We've asked Ray about this, by the way.
He laughs at it.
Who has chicken farms?
That is hilarious, man.
That was just one time.
I think it was like, it was Super Bowl run.
Yeah.
And I want to say, I can't say the name who it was.
They're joking.
Guys used to be like, we'll go to pregame right after.
And guys would be like, hey, was, it was. One of them, they were joking. Like guys used to be like, we'll go to pregame right after, and guys would be like,
hey Reed, can you translate?
You know?
So it was funny, man.
It's just fun.
Like, cause in the heat of the moment,
and like, I think my bro and I learned from each other.
We helped each other a lot.
You just tell real, that bro, people listening, bro.
Like, we gotta slow down, like.
Cause when you giving speeches, man,
you just be feeling it.
You know, you just said. You should be confused, man, you just be feeling it. You know, you just say-
You should be confused.
Yeah, you be feeling some stuff, man.
He gave this one speech down here.
It was in Miami.
OK.
We was in Miami this one time.
Ray had a house in Miami, man.
And Ray is a very spiritual, grounding type person.
And he'll take moments and use it.
And it's all genuine you know
and that's that's why people feel it man you know what I'm saying because one time in Miami
he went to his house and came back that night he gave us a speech and we just like he's
like and I'm in the water and the the birds just coming and it's gliding. And it glided right past me.
And I was like, yeah, it's that moment.
And we was like, okay.
Birds?
He said moment.
There's always a moment for Ray.
He always woven a moment.
That's my bro, man.
I love it, man.
I was always croc for him.
We love you. Miami loves you. The LeBatoard family loves you. Thank you for doing this, man. I love it, man. I was always croaking for him. We love you. Miami loves you. The LeBatoard family loves you.
Thank you for doing this, man. We appreciate it.
You are the coolest man alive.
Thanks, man. Shout out to NFL Superboy New Orleans, baby.
Shout out to my city.
Look at me right here, man.
Talk to me.
I love you, man.
I love you too, man.
Thank you, man.
Much love, man. Love to you guys.
Thanks so much.
You know, a lot of people don't express themselves, especially men like that.
Yes.
You know, like, and it's all genuine, man.
Thank you, man.
It ain't nothing coming from me.
That's part of being cool, man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Christian Fulton is with us.
He's a cornerback for the LA Chargers.
He's here promoting himself.
He's here promoting the city of New Orleans.
Did I say it right?
Yeah, yeah.
Billy doesn't think I said it right.
No, you just, you've been saying New Orleans the entire week,
and then all of a sudden you have
a whole different pronunciation.
Billy, when you talk to a guy who's from New Orleans,
you've got to say it properly.
Yeah.
Right, Christian?
That's how you say it.
I'm telling you, man.
You're flawless.
Nautilus.
What are you doing, man?
Just came home, you know, see the family.
Right.
And just so happy, you know, see what Bo is out here. So you know, just so happy, you know, Super Bowl is out here.
So just trying to show love for the city,
meet up with some of the guys.
That came out, a couple of players came out.
And like I said, just spend time with the family.
How do you feel when you're hosting, I guess,
like a hometown Super Bowl?
We were trying to do some callous about it earlier.
It's kind of annoying, because you still
have all the other stuff you got to get going on.
And then everyone's like, oh, let's do this.
Let's do that for the Super Bowl.
It's like, I still need to see my family.
I have to do all this other stuff.
People just think you have an endless amount of time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's definitely how I've been feeling.
It's cool, but it's a lot of pressure, though.
I'm saying, you're pretty much like everybody's tour guide
for the week.
And I'm like, yeah, don't call my phone with that.
They call it anyway, though, right?
They call it anyway.
Because like you said, it's like you got your own schedule.
You know things that you got to get done.
But then you still got to see family, check on friends,
do anything.
Well, no, because of who you are,
I'm sure they're all asking, like, oh, you
may get me tickets to the game.
Can you do this, ations? They already know.
They know better?
Yeah, they already know.
Hey, if I'm not playing, hey, can't do much for you.
You know, not with the Super Bowl.
You said you were glad that you had some time off
before we came on air, and then I reminded you,
you like to be playing this one.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, yeah.
Right.
That's the goal, you know?
One of my long-term goals is, you know,
to hopefully eventually win a Super Bowl. Yeah. You know, I've been blessed, you know, one of my long-term goals is, you know, to hopefully eventually
win a Super Bowl.
I've been blessed to win a state championship, win a national championship, so just want
to complete the Triple Crown, I would say.
And it would have been great, you know, because like I said, being from New Orleans and winning
the Nattie in New Orleans.
Oh, doing it here, yeah.
Oh, you won the Nattie in New Orleans, right?
Yeah, yeah.
New Orleans. Yeah, doing it here, yeah. And you won the Natty in New Orleans, right? Yeah, yeah. New Orleans. Yeah, New Orleans.
Good job.
So it would have been great to play in New Orleans
and win one in New Orleans.
How is Jim Harbaugh as a coach?
He's a one-on-one guy, I will say that definitely.
Not many coaches like him at all.
He's a player's coach, a coach who wants to see guys, he wants
to see everyone contribute and not all coaches are like that, you know. He sees value in everyone
and I mean he just has a story literally for everything. Like every team meeting we're
expecting like this. I see you smiling thinking about him. A little crazy though. Oh he's nuts.
I see you smiling, thinking about him. Oh, my God.
A little crazy, though.
Oh, he's nuts.
I think about it, he's nuts.
Let's just between us.
A little crazy.
Listen, we know him a little bit.
He's nuts.
A little crazy.
Nah, I mean, I don't know.
Coach is crazy.
He is crazy.
So he was on this show years ago, and he was talking to us about one of his favorite songs,
was like this song from the 1940s, and it was about a shipwreck.
A shipwreck?
Yeah, and he said it was a toe-tapper.
I'm sure he probably correlated to football.
It was the weirdest thing.
He was saying how great the song was,
and then we played it like, this is a slow song.
You can't really move to this at all.
And it was depressing. It was about a shipwreck.
Yeah, yeah.
That's what I'm saying. He's just a one-on-one guy.
He will take something and make it into nothing, right?
Some way, somehow.
And it makes sense.
It makes sense.
He will find a way to make it all come back full circle.
So I don't know how he does it.
I mean, he has experience.
But like, in the middle of it, you guys
are kind of looking at each other.
Like, how's he going to tie this one together?
Where's this going?
How's this one going to end?
Nah, we've all definitely had those moments where we're like,
hold on. We don't know what's going with this one right now end? Nah, we've all definitely had those moments. We're like, hold on.
We don't know what goes wrong with this one right now.
But he sticks the landing.
He sticks the landing.
Well, it keeps you focused because you're like,
how are we going to end this one?
Nah, yeah, yeah, yeah, nah.
In fact, you've got to stay in tune the whole conversation
with them.
So we asked Deuce McAllister this earlier,
and I'm wondering, if I had to ask you,
for people who are coming in this week and people who come in in the future the three things
they need to do when they come to New Orleans what are those three things three
things I nailed that one by the way yeah I mean you gotta try some oysters right
gotta try seafood you got a particular place for oysters yeah I'll go to Jaguars, honestly. I'm going to trust you because you're a hometown kid.
That's why.
Everyone likes to give their advice on food.
No, I want to hear from a person who's lived here their entire life.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I know that I wouldn't see you nowhere wrong.
I feel like I'm actually a foodie.
Really?
Yeah, if y'all want me to come check y'all's spots out out here.
Really?
You want to get lunch after this?
Let's do it.
I'm a foodie.
Yeah, I'm a foodie.
I'm a foodie. I'm a foodie. I'm a foodie. I'm a food here. Really? I'll come. You want to get lunch after this? I'll come.
Let's do it.
I'm a foodie.
Nah.
Yeah.
I mean, you just got to go tour the city, you know?
And you'll run into a lot of things.
You'll find it.
Yeah.
It's impossible not to find.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Nah, 100%.
I want to ask him food questions.
Go ahead, Billy.
No, being someone from here, you're
able to win the national championship with LSU.
Yeah.
Is there anyone more New Orleans than Ed Orgeron?
No.
He's the most New Orleans.
Oh my God. Oh coach. Oh, 101 coach.
He's another one that it seems like for other reasons,
you have to pay attention to everything he's saying
because you get lost very quickly.
Yeah, yeah, about 100%.
But he's definitely going to be more straightforward.
You know, he's definitely going to get straight to the point.
He's a guy, obviously, he's very straightforward.
He knows how to get the best out of players.
And I think that's why everybody loves him.
Because like I said, he's a players coach.
And he has so much experience being a coach.
He's played with, he's coached so many great players.
Yeah, he's been a part of so many great programs.
And I said, just just talking to him, he gets you fired up, you know.
So, I mean, he's one of the best coaches, you know, that I've played for, you know.
And like I said, that's pretty much why, you know, everybody loves him.
Was that the greatest team you've ever been on?
Yes. Yeah, it was.
I mean, it's ridiculous that team.
Oh, my God. I know. I's ridiculous, that team. Oh my god.
I'm just saying, it's just crazy in real times
to see all the guys really getting what they deserve,
what they work so hard for.
And we still have guys that still haven't
made that splash in the league that some guys have.
That you think are going to?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
100%.
I imagine playing there helps you get ready for the NFL.
The transition was easier because you were playing
against NFL guys every day in practice.
For real though.
That's what I'm saying is like,
our back, like we, like Coach O, like he's a guy,
you know, that you make sure you're like,
we're still like, you know, most teams, you know,
they stop going ones versus ones, you know,
once the season starts, but no, Coach O, he's like,
no, we, we gonna get this work. We gonna get this work against the ones. And then, you know, they stopped going ones versus ones, you know, once the season started. But, nah, Coach O, he's like, nah, we're going to get this
work against the ones.
And then, you know, like I said, we had guys that were
younger guys that are now, you know, kind of just entering
the league, you know, probably like their second or third
year, you know.
So it was fun, you know, going against those guys, like,
you know, and I mean, it showed, you know, probably,
it was the best team in college.
I think it's the best team in the history of college
football, and that's saying a lot a lot like there are some great Keynes
teams but this team like top to
bottom like God man. I say and
what she goes over probably was
a you know yes one of those
things that he probably could
tell you like I know yeah yeah
yeah that's a good time for you
look at his file. Did you think
Jaden Daniels would turn into I
know I know he transferred but
do you think Jaden Daniels would turn into, I know he transferred, but do you think Jaden Daniels
would turn into what he's turned into?
Honestly, I'm going to say I didn't.
Because like I said, I've seen, like that's the thing.
It was a real progression with him.
And I love to see that.
He's had a great year seeing him grow from where
he came from Arizona to where he's at now crazy
You know how many guys are an NFL factory? Yeah, I know I'm gonna say we're there
I think literally we put together NFL team and like when it gets other schools. Oh you take all the best players
Who else would be Alabama maybe
So Oh no, you guys, they went. Wow. I mean, who else would beat Alabama, maybe? Alabama, right? So they have Joe Burrow and Jaden Davis.
Well, I was going to say, who's your quarterback now?
They can play Jaden at running back.
Well, now there's some decisions that need to be made.
We got to throw a package with Joe out there,
and you got Jaden at running back.
Right.
Hey, I really could be a coach at OC and put something together.
Wait, so are we doing this all the time?
Like, you're taking Chase, you're taking Odell Beck. Like, how are we doing this all the time? Like, you're taking Chase, you're taking Odell Beck.
Like, how are we doing this?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh my god, you have the greatest team ever.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
If we do just like players that are in the league today,
we would definitely win that one.
I think I agree with you.
Yeah.
It's you, Alabama, maybe Georgia, I guess.
I gave it, yeah, Georgia.
Georgia's pretty damn good, man.
But who's our quarterback?
That's what you do. Alabama has two of them. I to know and they have Jalen hurts you guys have quarterback covered. I don't know they don't have a quarterback
How you feeling about the game this weekend, I mean I think it'll be I think it's gonna be a really good game
I mean obviously I said I wish you know that we were playing but I think you know going to be a really good game. I mean, obviously, like I said, I wish that we were playing.
But I think these two teams are strong.
They put their body at work together, and so on.
They're the best two teams.
Now I'm thinking of Texas Tech as the best team,
only because of Patrick Mahomes.
Man.
He lost five times a year in college.
Man, man.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
What, that he lost that much in college?
Yeah, yeah, man.
It is. It's ridiculous. Yep. What, that he lost that much in college? Yeah, yeah, man.
It is, it's ridiculous.
Yep.
So we appreciate your time, man.
You want to promote anything on the way out?
I feel bad.
Yeah, how do people follow you?
How do we get more of you in our lives?
And we're gonna have lunch later,
so I'll put you forward to that, man.
Get some oysters.
Man, y'all can follow me on Instagram, Twitter,
Chris1KrisS1, underscore.
You know, I'm a low-key guy and if y'all wanna meet him.
You're a cool guy, man.
Yeah, yeah, I appreciate that.
Look, there's your quarterback right there walking by.
Hey, look at Joe.
Say what's up to Joe.
Hey, Joe, what's up?
What's up, Joe?
How you doing?
Come on over, Joe, let's go.
That's crazy.
All right, you wanna sit here
and we'll have Barrow come back.
He seems busy right now.
Christian or Joe? Both of them.
You have anywhere to go?
Nah, I'm good.
Nah, you got my guys.
Yes, well, you got, listen, look at me.
I love you, man.
Love you, bro.
Yeah, I love you, man.
Thank you so much.
Can't wait for lunch later, my man.
On the way out, why receiver that keeps you up at night?
Why receiver that keeps nobody keep me up?
Come on man.
I told you, I've seen the best bro.
I'm sorry, I forgot.
Sleeps like a baby now.
After LSU, he sleeps like a baby.
I heard he played against Chase.
We appreciate you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I appreciate y'all having me.

you assume if you have a farm, you got chickens.
Chickens come with farms.
Yes.
You know, goats and things of that nature.
What's a horse farm?
Yeah, what is a horse farm?
So basically what we do is we board horses.
People come to us, it's like a horse,
think of it as a horse hotel.
Okay, really?
Wow.
Yeah, I like that.
A horse hotel.
Yeah, a horse hotel.
Yeah, horse hotel, hotel.
Horse tow.
Horse, no, horse hotel, man. Yeah, but he tried to blend them both, you know? I'm trying to brand for you. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Samirinov, we do game days. The longest tailgate you've ever seen. I mean, we're talking about a 60-foot bed here.
Right.
That's what we're doing.
Yeah.
I mean, FlowRider's going to be there.
It's going to be off the charts, man.
Yeah.
I can't wait.
I'm excited.
I've never seen anything.
Have you ever seen anything like this?
No, never in my entire life.
I'm with you, man.
See, one thing about Samirinov, they always
come up with these great ideas.
That's why I love being a part of their family.
I mean, it's been an amazing journey with these guys,
because you never know what you're going to get.
I know.
You look great, by the way.
Oh, thank you, man.
I appreciate it.
You can still play, right?
Yeah, of course I can play.
Come on, man.
Look at me, man.
A guy that looks like me.
Come on, man.
Yeah, of course I can play.
Are you serious?
If I give you a full year in the Chiefs offense,
what are you doing?
A full year?
Yes.
A full year?
Yes.
Maybe, I say maybe 50 catches.
Right now.
700 yards.
Right now.
First year, year one.
And as we progress, numbers might go up slightly.
That's impressive.
How much time do you realistically need to get back in,
to get going, do you think?
Well, I need to spend a lot of time.
I mean, with the things that I'm doing,
I have a show coming out called Match Point, comes out
February left on Apple and Amazon.
I mean, it's called it's about two tennis players
retire and decide to start a podcast.
Everything goes wrong.
Really? I brought my good friend, Omar Bode,
who won the Super Bowl with me in Denver.
He's a part of the cast. It's going to be hilarious.
Guys, you guys got to check it out.
So between the time, by the way. Oh, thank you so much.
So between the time doing all that stuff, I would need to take time away from that and
take a good month and a half to get back to where I need to be.
And bada-bing, bada-boom, here we go.
I'm dropping back, maybe with Jaden Daniels behind the center, throwing me the ball.
Tennis, do you have a love for tennis that I'm not aware of?
Well, I used to be...
Well, I'm really good friends with the Williams family.
Okay.
And they used to have these activities at their house where they, it was called the Williams Invitational.
Oh, right.
Where all of the friends and family members come over and we play tennis.
That's how I learned how to play.
And I just embarrass everyone at tennis.
That is one of the coolest things I've ever heard.
They have a lot.
It's like a Venus and a Venus and a Venus.
No, seriously, I mean, they would have all kinds of performances.
It was a whole thing for five years.
Like Lake Fest.
That is so.
Why did it stop?
Well, did you see what's going on?
So Serena's got pregnant.
Yeah.
Yeah, kids.
Life got in the way.
Venus became a fashion model.
Yeah.
But you still want to go.
I mean.
Yeah, you want to still flip.
I do want to go.
I mean, look, hey, but if you get married
and your life changes, you don't want to invite guys.
You don't want guys around anymore.
I guess you're right.
Are you good at tennis?
I mean, I'm OK.
Right?
I mean, you know, I'm OK.
I can hold it down.
OK.
When you played Serena, how badly did she beat you?
She played left handed.
Come on.
She and Venus played left handed.
Get out of here.
Oh, yeah.
I guessed everyone? I guessed everyone, yeah. Those were the rules. Those were the rules. We'll beat you lefty. Got Venus played left handed. Get out of here. Oh yeah. I guess everyone?
I guess everyone, yeah.
Those were the rules.
Those were the rules.
We'll beat you lefty.
Got to play left handed.
So you're playing strong hand, they're playing weak hand, and when you played them what was
the result?
They just won.
That's ridiculous.
Yeah, there's no other way.
That's crazy to get hurt.
When you were in the league, you've had a great transition after the NFL.
You have a show coming out now that you just mentioned.
This isn't high on your list, faculty.
You hosted the challenge reunions.
You've done all kinds of different things.
Did you know when you were kind of wrapping up
your career on the field that you wanted to get into doing
different things like that?
No, I didn't know.
My life has taken a path that was totally unexpected.
I didn't know anything about anything.
Yeah.
You just kind of go and hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
It was one of those journeys that I've taken.
But they say when your life is like that, that means you're on track.
You're in the right place.
You're right where you need to be. Because you can never really, you can plan out what you want
to do.
But the best outcome is always
the things that you didn't
expect.
The things you didn't plan for.
You know what I mean?
Like being here with a 60 foot
truck bed.
Yeah.
Right.
That's a tailgate.
You know what I mean?
That's crazy.
I didn't expect this.
Right.
But look, I'm here.
I'm a part of it. And look, I'm having a great time.
But the NFL part you expected, you're saying after the NFL, right?
Because you worked hard to get to the NFL.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I worked hard.
Oh, yeah. Just letting life come to you after.
Yeah, I worked hard to get to the NFL.
I mean, I had goals and dreams.
You don't just stumble into that league, is what I'm saying.
It comes with preparation and planning.
Right, right. And you kind of stumble into everything because you go I'm saying. It comes with preparation and planning.
Right, right.
You kind of stumble into everything because you go into the NFL expecting to be this all-world player.
But it don't happen like that.
My first two years wasn't the best.
It wasn't what I wanted it to be.
But as I continued on, it got better and better and better.
What's the thing you're doing now where you're the most surprised?
Like, I can't believe this is what I'm doing. I can't believe.
Like, sitting here with you guys right now,
you're about to be a part of a 64-tailed big.
No, but something you didn't set out to do that you're doing,
you're like, holy shit, how did this happen, you know?
Being an actor.
Really?
Yeah.
Wow.
Is it hard?
Because LeBretard thinks acting is easy.
He's in my co-host on the main show.
No, no, no, no.
When I first started acting and studying with my coach,
Anthony, Robert Epstein, I almost quit.
I almost gave up.
It was so hard, man.
Really?
Yeah.
Wow.
I mean, the things that you have to do.
I remember working with this other coach named
Kevin Benton.
Kevin Benton, he had me go.
He said, I want you to look at that wall right there.
I want you to pretend you're in the middle of a desert,
but there's water and there's a ship going by
and the only way to get out is to get that ship's attention.
So I had to go, help, help, help, help me.
Crazy.
Yeah, it's crazy.
But I had to do it in a, I had to pace in the back.
But I imagine that's the least confident
you've been in yourself your entire life because you exude confidence, man. I had to pace it in the back leg. But I imagine that's the least confident
you've been in yourself your entire life
because you exude confidence, man.
I mean, no, I mean, it's tough.
Everything you do, I feel like anything that you do,
whatever it is, it doesn't matter,
whether you're making a glass bottle
or you're making, coming up with the designs
for this football, in order to be great at it,
you have to put the time in, you have to put the time in.
You have to study the craft and continue
to go through trial and error and get better and better.
It's always one of those things where sometimes you
find yourself sitting there like, gosh,
I need to figure out a way to do this better.
But it's through trial and error.
It takes time.
So this will sound ridiculous, but because of how much time
you put into playing football
and how many years you devoted to that craft,
was acting harder for you, I guess,
at a certain point in time?
Because you had to start over.
It was like starting football from the beginning.
Yeah, in the beginning, when I first started,
when I first started, it was the hardest thing ever.
It's like learning to dance, all of that stuff
going the same way.
If you're first learning to do anything,
it'll probably be the hardest thing of your life.
And as you continue to go on, it'll probably get harder.
But until you find, we all have different ways of learning.
You gotta get on with it.
And figure things out.
You have to be uncomfortable, man.
Yeah, you have to be uncomfortable.
Some people give up, some people quit.
Some people are not, you know, used to being uncomfortable.
They just don't like it.
It's one of those things.
But if you put the work in and you have trust and faith
that you'll get to where you need to be,
then it'll eventually happen.
Well, we'll get you out of here in a second here.
We'll promote Smirnoff one more time on the way out.
What are you thinking in terms of the game this week?
I think it's gonna be a good game, but I can see the Eagles winning by two touchdowns.
Really? Yeah.
A lot of people are starting to lean Eagles, man. It's crazy.
Why do you think that? Sequon Barkley, they have the thing, right, that teams want.
They have the ability to keep Patrick Mahomes off the field.
Yeah, I mean, it was, yeah, I mean, everything that they have, the talent, Taekwon, Hertz.
Yeah.
They just got, man, they're all across the board.
Those guys are playing the best football of their life.
Two touchdowns, though, Billy.
What we've heard is that if it's a one back-to-back Super
Bowl, I'm not doubting you.
I think they're the better team.
Look what they did against the commanders.
Yes, I know.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Look at that.
You're right.
That was torture, man. Yeah. It think they're the better team. Look what they did against the commanders. Yes, I know. Yeah. Look at that.
You're right.
That was torture, man.
Yeah.
It was torture.
It was torture.
You know what's not torture?
What?
World's biggest tailgate.
Yeah.
You're right.
Tell us.
You're right, exactly.
But look, I had an opportunity to do something
even cooler than this.
Seems impossible.
A few weeks ago, yes.
What?
With Complex.
Ooh.
Yeah, it was amazing.
So I went through my house, and they
had me find some of the most valuable items
that I didn't mind giving away.
Oh, wow.
Well, I did.
I didn't want to give them away.
OK, wow.
You know, when it comes to Smirnoff,
I'll do anything for them.
What'd you give away?
I can't tell you, but you can find out
if you go to smirnoffdrops.com.
Oh, you are good.
You are good.
Come on, man.
Look, look. I've been talking about the best are good. Come on, man. Look, look.
I've been taught by the best, man.
Come on.
What, us?
Not us.
No, not us.
His coach, Coach Epstein.
Thank you so much, man.
I hope the tailgate goes well.
We appreciate it.
But you're a good man.
I love you, man.
Oh, not just the tailgate, man.
I just taught you.
I know.
What is it?
I don't know.
The longest tailgate.
The longest.
The 60-foot tailgate.
Oh!
I was listening, man.
He does remember.
I love you, man.
I love you, too, man.
Thank you, man.
Thank you, man.
I appreciate it.
Love you, too, man.
Love you.
Good luck with the horses.
Thank you.
Oh, the horses.
Not the chickens, though.
Not the chickens.
I got to be honest with you.
I don't know how you feel about this,
but I feel like you're always Joey Porter, not
Joey Porter Senior just because of Joey Porter Junior now.
Well, I guess the only reason why they say that now is because a couple of these people
that act like they watch football, sometimes they don't.
They'll think I'm Junior.
Yeah, I don't like it.
You know what I mean?
Who you talking about, Joey?
I've been called my son a few times here, and I've been like, yeah.
Because the way he was interviewing me is if like, so what do you think about how you guys played this year?
And it was leading the questions if I was my son.
I feel like you roll with it.
I just did.
But I was like, I don't know if he know I'm senior or not.
Am I lost a little weight?
I'm like, am I looking DB skinny?
Am I that small?
It's a compliment joke.
I take it, but my son don't look at it that way.
Like, man, I ain't that old-ass dude up there.
Right.
Your son's like, wait a second.
You guys saw that old man with me?
Yeah, he's like, man, don't give me that.
He's about to be 50 years old.
Look how he walks.
You do not look 50 years old.
I'm 48, but my whole thing is my son.
Joey, you look fantastic, man.
I appreciate it.
But when I walk, my son is like, that's not me.
Yeah, right.
Yeah, so funny, man.
What are you doing with GNC this week, Joey?
Man, trying to, I'm with GNC Livewell.
You know, I've been a big supporter of GNC
back when I was a player.
You mean, it was one of the, one of the few places
that I knew if you bought some over-the-counter products,
there wasn't nothing going to happen to you.
You know, you wasn't going to fail no drug test.
And at the time, I really wasn't looking for nothing
but a good pre-workout, some good vitamins,
multivitamins, creatine, and weight gainer.
My off-season stuff I put in my body is simple.
Those are the four things that I'm going to put in my body.
And when I worked with GNC back then, it was never a situation to where when I did it,
I was like, am I going to pass a drug test?
You knew you was going to pass it.
They don't sell nothing that's over the counter.
You're like, oh, I bought that at GNC and I failed the drug test.
People that do that be lying.
Right, you ain't buying nothing at GNC
and go fail the drug test.
Anything that I took, I'm never have, so right.
I love it for that.
I love it for the products they sell.
It's good for me and my body.
I'm just speaking for me.
I don't lift like that no more.
I'm not lifting the train like I did when I played.
So it's all about living well. Is I'm trying to lose me. I don't lift like that no more I'm not lifting the train like I did when I played right so it's all about living will is I'm trying to lose weight stay in
shape
Those are the products that I put in my body. You're still lifting though
Little bit not not not not not to tackle nobody a little bit for you is a lot for a lot of other
Yes, yes
a real little bit. It's getting close to none.
Are we arriving yet?
Oh man, I'm little.
Joey, I got to be honest with you.
When you were playing, you were such a great player.
I never thought to myself post-career,
you're going to be a coach.
I don't know why I didn't think it.
But how did you get into coaching?
What made you decide that's the path you wanted to go to?
Well, I never, even when you're playing, you're coaching, right?
Yeah.
You don't realize it because every time you have to,
especially you, the way you play.
Every time you have a rookie, it's
your job to make sure your rookie is good.
Like the coach is going to coaching.
But when you're in a room, you're not
going to leave a rookie out there to himself
to pick up the defense or how to be a pro.
So you never stop helping.
Like when I came in, my vets helped me all the way
until they left.
And then I was a vet to my room every year until I left.
So you're coaching in a little bit.
And then like what I realized in coaching,
when you're done playing football,
that's the closest thing to the void you're gonna get.
Really?
And it feels the same.
Makes sense, yeah.
The loss is hurt.
It doesn't feel exactly the same.
You're saying it just got you to the close.
It does though.
Really?
Like I lost a game as a coach
and I was in there, could not believe,
I'm mad at myself for being this distraught.
I'm like, man, you ain't miss no tackles,
you ain't play like, I'm almost in tears of mad.
And I'm like, how is these emotions hitting me the same way?
Right.
I ain't practice, I ain't? Right. I ain't practice.
I ain't do nothing.
I ain't not.
But what it is, I'm putting in more time as a coach
than I did as a player.
It's the hours you're putting into it.
You're invested.
Man, like hell you invested.
You invested like, so like, when you invest that deep,
you want to see the guys perform the way what you've
been doing. You put so much into it, like you want them to get it right.
You like, you wait all day, you're like,
oh, here comes the play.
I know it's the play, here comes the play.
He's going to be in the right spot, he's going to make it.
Then he make it, then you, you, you.
That's where the celebrations,
when the coaches is going crazy.
Because what they told that player all week
and lined up and it happened.
And they did it.
And they did it.
And that's how you build trust.
And that's the satisfaction that you get as a player.
That's the way you can't wait for next week.
But those losses, they hurt the same way.
And that's the biggest thing.
I didn't know the losses was going to hurt like they did.
Well, it's because you feel like you can't control the outcome.
You have no freaking control of it at all.
Yeah, but I'm surprised because players always talk about they
can't fill that void.
And you filled it with coaching.
It's not playing, it's coaching.
It is because the herd is there.
And like you said, what I feel about when I played is I'm
playing.
I personally is going to affect this game.
Right.
I am.
Yeah.
Somehow today, I'm going to have my footprints on this game.
Yes.
You can call the best plays all you want to.
And if you still can't do nothing,
all you can do is just try and help you put your guys
in the best situation.
Right.
Hoping they execute.
If they execute and everything goes right,
that still looks good.
But I can't make you win that one-on-one fight.
Right.
But what you can do is watch a ton of film,
which I'm sure you do,
and put your players and say, look,
when we get exposed that.
Yes.
Yes.
When you get this and you see them doing this,
make sure you don't, you know what I mean?
So you always in, that's the satisfaction
is watching your players get it right.
Right.
Do it right.
Watch them as sale and believe in their self
and start to have success because they believe in
what they're doing because you told them.
And it is, like I had TJ as a rookie.
You know what I mean?
I watched TJ open his pass rushing Arsenal
to what it is now.
I watched him.
I had him as a rookie when he first came in.
How he plays and how he looks now is totally different.
Wow. You know what I mean?
In what ways?
In his, his skillset is his skillset, but he's opened up so much more in this pass rush
right yes he's opened his pass rush playbook he used to be just snatching pull right his shoulders
would always be hurting and i'm like dude you can't keep running to these 335 pound dudes
thinking you're gonna headbutt them and snatch them down and that's gonna be it no you're gonna
be more you're gonna need more than just button press.
Because he'll try and stone you and then throw you by,
but like now, man, he's inside, he's outside,
he's dropping the shoulder, he's getting low,
he can show you this shoulder, pull out of it, swim.
He has a full package.
Looking at it from the other side now that you're a coach,
is there things that you go back and go,
oh, like, coach is right about this.
I didn't realize how hard it was.
Now I understand what you're trying to tell me.
Like, your career, I'm sure you had things you're like,
OK, get out of here.
I used to be like, man, I had coaches that were talking,
man, we didn't leave until 12 o'clock at night.
I'm like, why?
The hell are you doing at 12 o'clock?
Like, we left at 6.
Yeah.
What'd you stay another six hours for?
Now you know.
It's football, right?
But it's that, but then it's the other component of
some people aren't comfortable with what they're doing
so they overcheck their work and just keep going.
And like, I'm a type of, I wanna be right,
I wanna put in the work for us to be right,
but I'm not gonna keep second guessing myself.
If I done ran through all Monday to Friday with the guys,
and this is how we're gonna do it,
ain't nothing about the seeking to my head on Saturday
of like, did I do everything right?
Well, let's add this.
No, man.
We go run when we practice.
I feel good about when we practice.
Then what I've also become of in the coaching
is less is best.
I'd rather have a fast player that knows exactly
what he got.
Right.
And if my loss is because that guy is better than me,
well, you can't out scheme him being better than you.
Right.
It's nothing I can do.
At some point in time, you got to take on that damn fight.
You got to fight the guy that's in front of you.
Right.
We have 11, they have 11.
The good teams, you win more of your one-on-ones
against the guy in front of you.
Like at the end of the day, that's still part of football.
I have to beat the guy that's in front of me.
Right, like, you ain't out-scheming that.
Sure.
And sometimes you can get a guy all the way to that situation
to win that situation,
and maybe the guy just can't beat the guy in front of him.
Right.
And that has to do with coaching or the scheme.
That guy's just better.
Amazing. When you saw TJ his first year,
did you think he would turn into this or something close to those after when we first drafted him?
I didn't but once I got him in the building cuz I went down there to go work him out
Sure when we would draft him when he came into the building and now he's amongst the rest of my guys
He's him, but it's bud TJ. Chickalaw, Harrison, Jarvis. And you really get to know them too, right?
Well, now I got all six of them.
Yeah.
And they're all going against, they're all,
I'm putting them through all the same drills.
Right.
And he's standing out above everybody.
Like, he just would do everything a little better
than everybody.
You know what I mean?
Like, he already had big features, big hands, big feet.
They don't know how athletic TJ is.
He can dunk the ball through his leg.
He can do the East Bay Funks.
He can do the 360s.
He can do the windmill.
That's a part of TJ that y'all don't know.
Yeah.
Like, he's crazy athletic, but we just
know the football part of it.
You wouldn't think that he...
Well, you also don't really need to do that for football. But he can do it though.
But that's what I'm saying.
So like when you're trying to be,
when you're an athlete, you're doing things that's better.
Like, yeah, you can cut, he got good COD,
he has all that, he can punch good.
But it's little things that everybody
might not have in their bag.
Like he's a different athlete.
So how he catch the ball, how big his hands is,
like he would hurt his thumb his whole rookie year
because he would punch at the ball so hard.
I'm like, hey man, we're gonna need you for the season.
You're tearing up your thumbs,
but now he's been punching for so long,
it's automatic when he's behind you
and he punched the ball.
It's coming out.
His peanut punch is like perfect.
But he didn't went through a whole lot of thumb injuries getting to where he's at ball, it's coming out. His peanut punch is like perfect. But he went through a whole lot of thumb injuries
getting to where he's at now, right?
But I say that to say when I had him, Harrison, Jarvis,
Bud and TJ and Chickalaw all together,
TJ Clearcutt was the better athlete.
You could see it, yeah.
And he wasn't faster than Bud,
but he did other things better than Bud wasn't he wasn't faster than Bud. Right. But he did other things better than Bud. Yeah. It wasn't stronger than Bud. Yeah. But
it athletically he did stuff that Bud can do. Now Bud is a brute. Just strong
and fast. Yeah. Harrison was the muscle of the group. Yes. TJ athletically can do
all of it. Crazy. You know what I mean? Yeah. And that was a separation. Then when he added to his past Russian
on top of his natural gifts, it just got better.
Incredible.
What's more gratifying for you,
watching your son do it or doing it yourself?
Watching my son.
It's the past, right?
Yeah, man.
It's the greatest.
You know, it's when you have kids
and you watch any kid succeed.
I mean, that's the whole joy, right?
It's the ultimate.
It's the ultimate, man.
So like, watching him have success is crazy for me in itself.
It's like I've watched you have success in Little League, in high school, and college
was great, but to fall into Pittsburgh at home, to play at home, and now you live literally
down the street, a couple of miles down the street from me. And all of it's just, it's surreal sometimes.
Yeah, you like that. I'm not certain he loves it.
Oh, no. Yeah, he...
I'm joking with you.
I don't go over his house like that every day.
I'm not the pop-up parent.
He doesn't dare think he's better than you, right?
He doesn't know how great of a football player you are.
Well, I tell him he's better than me because the whole thing is...
And I never said it in front of me as a joke,
my job to my kids is to make sure they are better than me.
Yeah, a better version of you.
A better version.
So now if he finishes at the end goal and he's better,
man, that was the whole point.
You win, Joey Porter.
You're lying a little bit at the moment.
Right.
What do you mean?
Yeah, you're better than your son.
Oh, right.
For now.
For now. I got 13 years, you got two. Yeah, exactly. It's 13 versus two Yeah, you're better than yourself. For now. For now.
I got 13 years, you got two.
It's 13 versus two.
He hasn't cracked the championship.
He hasn't got a Pro Bowl.
You let him know that.
Sometimes when he starts getting a little loud, you let him know.
And he's got to catch me in picks.
I got like 13 picks already.
Finally, we've got him here.
But you stopped lifting.
I mean, that's all.
But you stopped lifting.
Yeah, it's his turn.
I gave him my weight room.
He has the weight room at his house.
Joey, we really enjoyed that.
We had a great time.
We had a great time.
We had a great time.
We had a great time. We had a great time. We had a great time. I mean, yeah, he, it's his turn.
Yeah. He has, I gave him my weight room.
He has the weight room at his house.
Joey, we really enjoyed this.
That was great insight by you.
Tell us one more time on the way out.
GNC, what are you doing with them?
GNC Livewell, man, that is,
it's how I transformed from being a player,
the supplements I used to take when I played for GNC.
I mean, when I played for the Steelers and all the teams,
I was on GNC. I mean, when I played for the Steelers and all the teams, I was on GNC products.
So GNC is, you know, they're in Pittsburgh.
Their headquarters is in Pittsburgh.
They always had a great relationship with the Steelers.
Now the relationship from the Steelers
to pass on the Joy Porter Senior and Joy Porter Junior.
Like, we believe in the GNC products
and Livewell products.
I believe in everything they have over there.
I know what works for me.
And I'm too late in my career now to change.
You know what I mean?
This is what works for me.
It worked when I played.
It's working now.
And I stand by it.
Like I said before, GNC is one of those places
to where I got supplements and I always feel good
about what I was putting in my body.
And the way the league is now,
you got to watch what you're putting in your body,
or you'll get suspended.
No doubt.
We appreciate it, man.
I'm glad you found something to fill the void.
Oh, I did.
Because most players we speak to,
they never find that thing.
So I'm glad you found it.
I appreciate it, man.
You got it, man.
Logan Ryan's with us, two-time Super Bowl champion.
He's promoting himself.
I love that.
It's what everyone should be doing.
Exactly. Hey, man. You gotta believe in yourself.
Yeah, absolutely. Two-time Super Bowl champion. You know the thing or two about winning Super
Bowls. But when did you know you wanted to get into broadcasting? Like, is that something
you always thought you were going to pursue? I wouldn't say always. When I was in New England,
we definitely weren't told or taught to talk a lot or any at all.
Right.
That's just the policy.
Yep.
But I've always been a natural storyteller,
like in the locker room and whatnot.
And I always loved the game and studied the game a lot.
And when I left New England and went to the Tennessee Titans,
they really paid me in free agency.
My last game in New England was a 20 to 3 Super Bowl comeback victory. So when I went to Tennessee in free agency. My last game in New England was a 20 to three Super Bowl
comeback victory.
So when I went to Tennessee in free agency,
they were paying me for that Super Bowl pedigree
and that experience and be the leader in the locker room
and tell us what it takes type of guy.
And you're like, OK.
So I had to become more vocal right away.
Had to be a leader, had to do pregame speeches,
postgame speeches.
So I get interviewed.
I had a radio show, you know,
I took over Delaney Walker's radio show,
so I took his radio show and didn't think nothing of it,
and then people are like, man,
we love hearing your stories,
or like, you're kind of good at this,
so I was like, all right, cool,
so then I just always kept talking,
and then you play for the New York Giants,
and then, you know, you're captain on New York Giants,
and Saquon Terz, ACL, Daniel Jones not playing too well,
and Joe Judge is your coach.
So every single week they're asking me questions.
Like Logan, go talk about everyone else but yourself.
And in New England, the rule number one
is don't speak about anybody else's situation.
So I had to dodge all those questions every week
and got really good at talking to the media,
being in New York, and having a radio show in WFAN.
That's a pretty tough network with those fans. And I'm happy all the time.
So that's where it kind of came.
And here we are.
So now I'm broadcasting and working for CBS.
What did you do on the fan?
What did I do?
Yeah.
Oh, I had a show, a weekly show.
I would call in.
Moose and Molly, me and Molly would get into it every single week.
So it was a lot of fun.
It was like when you're losing two, three games in a row
and people want answers.
And you're just like, look, man, we're trying to do our best.
We're trying to do our jobs here.
Like, we didn't score enough points.
We didn't stop them.
Like, there's not that.
It's like, it's not a secret.
Yeah.
Right.
Everyone wants to dig it out of you.
Like, what do we need to do?
And I'm like, we need to play better.
Yeah.
It's crazy how you go from an environment like New England,
where I imagine you're almost taught like, yeah,
that's the devil.
You don't want to deal with the media, too. Then you go to Tennessee. Like, you said it's like, well, why I imagine you're almost taught like, yeah, that's the devil. You don't want to deal with the media too.
Then you go to Tennessee, like you said,
and it's like, well, why don't you do a little bit more here?
We need to give these speeches.
We need to do some media appearances.
It's like a 180 that you have to do.
And then the Giants allow them to do the same thing,
but the Patriots won a bunch of Super Bowls,
and the other teams did not.
Yeah, look, I think the New England thing,
I think, is his bill.
And I think we saw his personality this year
in the media, right?
I think people seen it, and they're like, wow, he's actually funny, and actually he's good at telling stories. And I think when New England thing, I think, is his bill. And I think we saw his personality this year in the media, right? I think people have seen it and they're like, wow, he's actually funny.
And actually, he's good at telling stories.
And I think people were surprised.
We always saw that side of Bill.
He just didn't want anybody outside the building to get any type of answer from
us, any tip, any injury.
What's your status?
Are you playing next week?
Don't talk about your injury status.
Don't talk about your teammates' injury status.
You're coming off ACL. You'll be back next game about your injury status. Don't talk about your teammates' injury status. Like, oh, you're coming off ACL.
You'll be back next game.
I know it.
Like, don't put that expectation.
So he didn't want to give out any insider info.
Like, that was his biggest thing that he taught us,
is like, we're trying to win every game,
but there's no reason to give our opponent any inside glance
of what we do, how we do it, who's playing,
what our situations are.
Was it surprising to you to see him do the media this year?
Look, I think it's surprising seeing it, yeah, for sure.
But I knew that was his personality all along.
He played pranks on us.
He had jokes.
I told this story before and it's still random to me.
We had a bunch of Rutgers guys in New England,
McCordy's twins, myself, a handful,
handful of Rutgers players.
Steve Belichick went to Rutgers, forgot his own son, right?
So he had his love of Rutgers players,
and he would say, like, you know,
I was a really good tackler.
Like, that was like my thing in the NFL.
Like, I won the best tacklers, I don't miss tackles,
I'm tough, I don't miss games.
And he was like, these Rutgers guys, they're soft,
and he called me soft to, like, get under my skin.
And then he's like, you're soft as marshmallows.
And everyone knew I wasn't soft.
But I come in my locker one day, and he
has a tub of like 60 gallon tub of marshmallows
overflowing out of my locker.
And I'm like, who gave me the marshmallows?
And then Bill's like, do you like those marshmallows?
I'm like, oh, great.
What do I do with these? It hit for like a second. Good joke, dude. What do I do with these? Yeah, it hit for like a second.
Good joke, dude.
What do I do with all these marshmallows?
It's like, does anyone know why there's marshmallow?
Bill, what do we do?
Right.
But like, yeah, the coach pranked me.
Like, the coach pranked my own locker.
So I don't think people would expect that from Belichick.
But I love playing for him.
He was a genius.
And I learned a lot from him.
And a lot of us, Patriot guys, do good in media
because we've got literally the Harvard schoolbook
of football from this guy.
That's interesting.
Are you surprised that he's coaching in college?
That was surprising, no doubt.
That shocked all of us.
I had to do a lot of media about that, obviously.
No one saw that coming, but college football
is shifting more to pro football.
And he's going to get a good salary.
And I'm sure his son's going to be on staff for the future there. Yeah. And he's going to get a good salary. Yeah.
And I'm sure his son's going to be on staff
for the future there.
So I think he has some things that he wants,
and he has the power that he wants to have,
and he earned that.
But, you know, college football is nothing but glorified
and pro sports.
It always has been.
Guys are getting eight,
the guys weren't getting eight million dollars playing,
I'll tell you that.
So guys are getting a lot of money,
coaches are getting a lot of money.
So it seemed like a pretty good situation for him.
Logan, the thing that surprised me
the most about that entire situation
was the lack of interest from the NFL.
That's what surprised me.
He's the greatest coach ever.
But I think it's like, what does he want, though?
In terms of power?
Does he want to go to Jacksonville?
OK.
Right?
So maybe does he want to go to New Orleans?
Maybe the Saints want him right now.
But does he want to go there?
Sure.
So I think maybe the team or the fits that he wanted to go to aren't available. Yeah. So he's not want to go to New Orleans? Maybe the Saints want him right now, but does he want to go there? So I think maybe the team or the fits
that he wanted to go to aren't available.
So he's not going to go.
I don't think he's a guy that's going to coach in a situation
that he doesn't like.
I think he understands how important
it is to have the pieces in play, whatever they are.
So I don't think it's so much the NFL didn't want him at all.
Maybe last year that was the case.
But this year I felt like he was a little bit more selective.
You mentioned that 20 to 3 Super Bowl, you're down at half.
28.
28 to 3, I'm sorry.
What was said at halftime?
And who said it?
Very little was said.
I remember Brady slammed his helmet
because he just threw that pick six
and he was kind of like pissed.
And I remember we're sitting there,
it's very long now because it's a halftime show.
So it's extremely longer halftime than normal.
And I remember my buddy, Rutgers guy, Doron Harmon,
is on a bike because you kind of get your adjustments.
And you're like, all right, we're
going to go adjustments or whatever.
And I'll give you some insider here.
So Dan Quinn and the Atlanta Falcons,
they're a big zone team.
They play zone defense a lot because he was with Seattle.
So we played the previous Super Bowl against Seattle. So we were anticipating all Seattle's defensive
plays and they came out and all man to man. So I know Josh McDanism came in like, oh,
we got to go to our man beaters. So they're talking about a lot more X's and O's than
motivation. But I remember Doron Harmon and my boys like, this is going to be the greatest
comeback of all time. And we're like, I'm just trying not to get blown out.
And then someone else was like, yeah.
And then it was like, yeah, yeah.
It was like, yeah.
So it's like, you know when someone starts
to like a slow clap, it was like this?
And I heard it.
And I was like, all right, bro, chill.
Like, we're bad a lot.
But then I was like, yo, it will be. Like, yo, it will be. All right, let's go. All right, all right. And then we were like, all right, let's go. You know, bro, chill. We're done a lot. But then I was like, yo, it will be.
It will be.
All right, let's go.
All right, all right.
And then we were like, all right, let's go.
You know, whatever.
They can miss you.
At first I looked at him like, all right, bro, I don't know.
But he did say it first.
Daron Harmon, the closer we call him.
Safety came in, closed a lot of games.
My boy, he's the first one to say
it's going to be the greatest comeback of all time.
I like the idea now for the story you told us
about Bill and the Marshmallows is like,
while you guys are stressed, I don't know know how we're gonna come back, Bill's just
pranking people.
He's like, ah.
No, never in that moment.
No, heck no.
He's not pranking in the Super Bowl.
Absolutely not.
The Marshmallows came nowhere near that.
I was probably trading Kent.
But no, Bill, that is not Bill's game day personality.
In a weird world, a weird game show where I say you have to give me the best Tom Brady story and if you get it, if you give me the best Tom Brady story, you will win $50 million. What would your Tom Brady story be?
He doesn't have any bad stories. He doesn't have anything that he's not perfect in Tom Brady in.
He doesn't seem like a human.
He seems kind of like a robot.
Like a robot.
Yeah.
I haven't seen too many of that at Tom.
I mean, I will say the first time
I got drafted by the Patriots, I get drafted there.
And boom, they call me.
OK, I'm 21 years old, by the way.
I left Rutgers as a junior. So I'm a 21 old, by the way. I left Rutgers as a junior.
So I'm a 21-year-old kid.
I'm in college classes a couple of weeks ago.
Now I get drafted by New England Patriots in the third round.
I go up to Foxboro.
I sign my contract.
I go around the hallway.
Boom, I see Tom Brady.
I dip around the corner.
I'm like, oh, shoot.
OK.
What am I going to say?
Now mind you, I started playing.
I was born in 1991.
I'm 33.
And I started playing, I was born in 1991, I'm 33. And you know, Tom started playing,
I started playing football in 1999.
Tom started being the quarterback for the Patriots
in like 1999, 2000.
You know what I'm saying?
So he was a pro when I first ever touched a football.
And I'm an old player now.
So imagine what he is to these kids.
So I'm like, oh shoot, what am I gonna say?
Let me just like gather my thoughts.
So I go around the corner, I'm like prepared to introduce Poms, Sweaty Mom, Sp shoot, what am I going to say? Let me just gather my thoughts. So I go around the corner.
I'm prepared to introduce Pomp Sweaty, Mom Spaghetti,
that old thing.
I'm prepared to say something.
And he goes, hey, what's up, man?
Logan, right?
Logan Ryan, third round out of Rutgers, man.
I love you.
Watch your tape.
What?
I'm Tom.
If you need anything, my locker's over there.
And I get here early.
And if you need anything, just like come to my locker.
And he took all the awkwardness out of it.
He knew who I was, where I went to school,
what pick I was drafted.
He knew everything about that, about me.
And I just was prepared to say hi.
So I just thought that spoke volumes.
Then I was like, how early?
So then I started trying to get there early
because I'm an early riser and work started at eight
and I got there at 6.30.
He was, him, Edelman, Belichick Carr was there. I.30. He was him, Edelman, Belichick car was there.
I got there at six, him, Edelman, Belichick car was there.
I got there at 5.45, him, Edelman.
I got there at 5.30, Edelman wasn't there,
it was Bill and Tom.
I'm like, all right.
I got there at 5.15, I got there at 5 a.m. one day,
Tom and Bill, I said, I'm not going anything earlier
than 5.
I will be third or fourth for the rest of my career in this parking lot.
I will never be, I'm not waking up at 4 a.m. for this.
You didn't try out 430.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Five was it, his car was there, and he's like year 14, and I'm a rookie.
And I was like the third or fourth person in that building every day for the four years.
I was there, and his car was always there.
So when you get there, it's just the two of them. They're like, what are you doing here?
Why are you showing up so early?
I didn't even see Tom.
I don't even know where Tom was.
And then I just had, I would have so much time.
Maybe Tom's just parking his car there overnight.
Yeah, just for optics.
Exactly right.
That's the trick.
No, no, because.
Maybe you did meet him there.
I mean.
No, because he'll come out the sauna,
and you're ready, like, had his towel,
like, you're ready to had his workout clothes sweaty.
I'm like, what time did you work out this morning?
He already has done his post-workout sauna.
I'm just getting in.
So he got there early, early, man.
Scary hours where I didn't want to venture to.
But eventually, I had to kill three hours before work.
And we had long work days in New England.
So I eventually found a routine that I did my lift early,
then I ate breakfast at this time,
then I did the cold tub, then I stretched,
then I did extra film.
Right, so I started to get my own routine, just trying
to keep up with Tom that I carried with me
for 11 years in the NFL.
Interesting.
But you agree with Billy, though.
Just parking your car in the parking lot,
but not actually being there is a heady play.
Just think of optics that you're always there, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, that could be.
I like it.
That could have been it.
You know, I mean, I was.
Yeah, Tom comes out, and he has, you know,
he's in the sauna, whatever.
I mean, you can fake that.
But he comes out, and he has, like, the towel.
Like, Bill's dressed like a slob all the time.
He could have been showing up whenever.
Well, Bill slept there.
He just had his, well, that's probably.
Bill slept there.
His car was there from last night.
No doubt about it.
He slept there.
Tom, I don't know what time Tom did. He slept there. But Bill definitely slept there. His car was there from last night. No doubt about it. He slept there. Tom, I don't know what time Tom did.
He slept there.
But Bill definitely slept there.
What an amazing team.
What an amazing team.
Yeah.
Your body, you said it feels better,
because you're not playing football anymore.
But what do you miss most about football?
It's the locker room, right?
Yeah, I think that's the common answer.
Just the guys, the fellowship, the brotherhood.
I love my wife.
I love my kids.
But it's not like my locker room guys, the fellowship, the brotherhood. I love my wife, I love my kids, but it's not like my locker room
guys, we get that bro talk out.
But it's a competition.
It's like, I can go out there on a pickleball court
and try to kill somebody out there,
but that's not as competitive as I need it.
So I think it's the competition of competing
against DeAndre Hopkins or just preparing for battle to me.
And I think I learned that media
can be competitive, right?
Like we're all trying to do our best.
And when I go kill a segment, right?
When I go kill this show, I'm like, all right, boom, check.
Like I did what I had to do.
Like it's almost a competition to me.
Like I showed up prepared.
And I killed that five minutes of TV.
Where when I was a player getting interviewed,
we don't think anything about the interview.
We're preparing for the game.
Hey, can I grab you for five minutes? we don't think anything about the interview. We're preparing for the game, hit cat-grab for five minutes,
how much work goes into the interviewer.
You're studying for this guy,
I know you had you Googled me five minutes before I got up here.
Yeah.
So you're doing your little homework on me or whatever.
I was making sure you want to Super Bowl,
that's all I was doing there.
There we go. So you put work into it,
and the player you're not thinking anything about the interview,
you're like, all right, whatever.
But as the interviewer, now I'm on this side of it,
I'm preparing to have a good interview or whatever it is.
You're gonna be great at it, man.
You are great at it.
Oh, I appreciate it.
Yeah, man.
We appreciate the time.
Enjoy your time down here in New Orleans, man.
Yeah, appreciate you guys, man.
You got it, man. Have fun.
All right, thank you.
Awesome.

Are you staying for the game, Are you staying for
the game? No, no, no, no,
definitely. I'm getting out of
here before the game. Do you
not want to go to a Super
Bowl? No, no. I mean, I want
to play until you play. Right?
Is that is that the deal? Oh,
100%. So you've never been to
a Super Bowl and you're not
going to one until you play
it. Yeah. Okay. No chance.
All right. What if that
doesn't happen? I'm just saying. Jeez, what's wrong with you?
Puka, I'm just listening.
What's going on here?
Puka, I love you, man.
You know that.
I don't know.
I'm two for two in the playoffs.
I've been two years in season five.
I know.
We've only gone up.
Why are you getting mad at me?
Because I don't like what you're doing to Puka.
Last year, we serenaded him with a song.
All right, so Puka, you won't remember this at all.
Last year, we spoke to you.
He remembers the song.
No, he doesn't.
Last year, we spoke to you, Puka, and we
were your first interview of the day on your first day
doing Radio Row.
And when we met you, we said, you know what?
This Puka, he's going to be a star.
Forget the field.
Who cares about the field?
That's not important.
He's going to be a star at this media game.
He's going to be a star at Radio Row.
You're a star. And then here you are this year and you have multiple days you're going around
doing things. You've already learned to get out of town before the Super Bowl actually
happens. It took us 20 years to learn that.
A little bit. I try to take notes from these veteran guys and make sure I'm learning something
for real. Are you having fun this week?
Oh, it's been so fun. It's been to be able to work with teams like Pepsi, Toyota,
the brands that I've been able to be a part of,
and how they have been helping in my career
on the field and off the field, getting involved.
Like you said, in some of that media stuff,
it's definitely a different world
from what you're doing on the football field.
There's no running routes.
Nobody's giving you an exact way book
of how it's supposed to go.
But it's a blessing to be a part of it so I'm excited to get my bowling event
going on tomorrow that's what I got with going on with go bowling comm and Pepsi
if you go to go bowling.com you get a free bowling game a coupon for a free
bowling game so everybody definitely needs that. Hold on, free bowling? Wait how'd you get in the bowling this is
exciting here. I actually my high school basketball coach
would coach the bowl or taught the bowling class in high school.
So I was automatically enrolled into that class because he was our basketball coach.
But then we would, there was a class and it was bowling bowling class.
Yep. They would literally take a bus and you'd go from the high school down to the miracle bowl,
which is like a mile down the road.
And I would always bowl. So I got a bowling ball.
I got a Los Angeles bowling ball ram or a Los Angeles Rams bowling ball that I'm be bowling with tomorrow
Let's say I average about 200 score average about a 200
All right, you throw it straight. You got the curve action. I got a little curve action. I got a little hook in there
I'll make sure I spin right I got me to get 200 is not as easy as it may sound
bowling class in high school is crazy.
It's nuts.
I'm one of the classes he took.
Bowling class sounds like something
you do in college just to get the credits
to be able to stay on the field.
That school should be ashamed of themselves, OK?
We haven't talked to your education system over there.
I don't know about that.
I'm glad you passed Bowling.
Yeah, we got an NFL player.
We got Kingsley Suomati, who's playing in the Super Bowl, went to Orem High.
We played together.
He's a former BYU Coug.
So I think Orem High is doing pretty good.
I like how you say we have an NFL player as though you're not an NFL player.
And a damn good one.
What a breakout year for you, by the way.
Like last year was a surprise year.
Everybody you were robbed for a kid here, but we don't need to get into that today.
We don't need to rehash and open those wounds for you.
But you know, sophomore slump is something
that happens all the time.
And you had a better year this year than you had last year,
which I think, not that surprised people,
but it was great to see the development continue.
Yeah, I think it was super exciting.
I think it's a challenge to be consistent as possible.
I think from the people I've been able to watch and learn,
you get to see, we're lucky enough to see
Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson.
I'm watching Cooper Cup out, I practice every day
and for the past two years.
So seeing the best of the best move
and do this, play this position at a very high level
is an exciting and it made it a super,
a fun challenge for me to be able to go out there
and perform very well.
Well, and like this year you became the go-to guy, right?
To the point, and obviously the news has come out
in the past couple of days that, couple days that your team has told Cooper,
we're probably gonna move on from you,
we'll probably send you to another team.
So next year, not that you weren't already,
but you're the guy next year.
Yeah, I guess it's trying to realize that and process that,
but also feel like, man, I'm taking the same mentality
that I've had in these past two off-seasons.
So man, to be out there, to all 17 games,
I wanna be out there and provide for my team
as much as I can and as often as I can.
So it's super exciting to know that that privilege is going to be mine to be able to take that challenge on and
and yeah to overcome that challenge or to have fun while I'm doing it because I know it's something that I'm capable of doing
and the people around me will help make sure I get it done.
You guys were one of the hottest teams in the NFL towards the end of the season.
You got banged up early. A season. You got banged up early
A bunch of guys got banged up early, but then you got healthy at the exact right time
I'm wondering do you think in your mind if we just could have stayed healthy?
17 games, maybe it's us playing this Sunday in New Orleans
Yeah, I think health is definitely a thing that you had a chance regardless. Yeah
Yeah, like we are even though yeah
Even without even with some of the injuries and the challenge that we had to overcome,
we were still right there and had opportunity.
So it provides a sour taste in your mouth while you're watching some of these games.
But it also lets you know that man,
it gives you an extra motivator to in the office and workouts
to push just a little bit harder.
Billy brought up Cooper Cup.
Like you get that it's just a business or do you personalize that at all?
Like he might move on.
He's a good friend of yours.
I'm certain he's helped you along the way, but he might not be your teammate anymore.
You just realize, hey, it's a business.
Yeah, I think that's kind of growing, learning and being in the league a little bit longer.
You see some of these things happen.
And so it's just it is a part of the business.
But I'm grateful for the opportunities and the experiences that I've had with Cooper Cup.
And if there's a way that he could stay with the Rams,
that would be awesome.
But if he goes out there, I know a great team
will get Cooper Cup, and I'll be able to use the model
that Cooper Cup laid in front of me
to be able to have success in this organization
and as a football player.
How many times on average do you text Matthew Stafford
and tell him, listen, you're not retiring?
I should spam his phone, but I know he's kind of,
he's still, he's not a new tech guy,
so I know if I blow his phone up, he might not like that.
You know what I think you need to do next year, Puka?
I think next year you need to pull that card and say,
you know what, I don't know if I'm retiring or not,
because it seems to be the thing that your team is doing.
Sean McVeigh does it one year,
Matthew Stafford does it one year.
Everyone's always pretending. How about we all stay together?
Exactly right. Why are things so miserable for them over there Everyone's always pretending. How about we all stay together? Exactly right.
Why are things so miserable for them over there
that everybody's pretending they're gonna retire every year?
I think a puka.
I don't know, I hope it's not me, man.
I try to bring some new juice and a good energy
into the room, I'm like, man.
Maybe it is you.
Maybe all of a sudden, you know, this puka.
How could it possibly be me?
We're tired of this guy.
He's too positive, he's too happy all the time.
He can't do this.
That is so good, man.
McFae's not going anywhere, right?
He just likes talking about it?
He's an LA guy.
He loves it.
Coaches the best.
Yeah, I don't think he wants to leave.
The only thing I worry about, he's so good at the media game.
He is so good at it that I could see maybe,
because those jobs pay a lot, like Monday Night Football
and stuff, maybe, maybe he just decides, hey,
the grind of coaching
is too much for me.
But you're saying no?
No, he loves it too much.
He's still got out there.
He's got a good quick twitch to him still.
Is he a good bowler?
I don't know about that.
I think I would have him on that one.
Do you have a personalized ball?
I do have a personalized ball.
So you walk into the local bowling alley
with your own ball in the back?
Yeah, my own bowling ball.
I'm judging you right now.
They got good pizza over there. I'm trying to bowl good.
Do you go with like you have the shoes too?
I don't have my own shoes.
Really? I mean of all things you get the shoes.
I'm a size 14. If they would let me bowl in my Jordans.
I mean with the bowling alley that I go to back in Utah.
They let you do whatever you want?
Kind of.
Okay, there you go.
What's the proper amount of times to go to the handblower They let you do whatever you want? Kind of, a little bit. OK. There you go. What's the proper amount of times
to go to the hand blower per game, per bowling game?
I go, honestly, every time I grab the ball.
Wow.
Really?
You're a chalk guy.
You have, like, the rosin bag or whatever.
No, no chalk.
I like to get pedicures and manicures
and make sure my hands are nice.
You have great fingernails, man.
Thank you.
So I get them done.
So it's going to be a good experience.
Looks like you got hit with a bowling ball,
pretty honestly, too.
Yeah, I think I got stepped on.
Stepped on?
Hold on a second.
He plays football, Billy.
You've been stepped on during games, you're saying.
Yes, oh my gosh.
Yeah, I got stepped on by one of our linemen,
like right on my calf.
I thought my whole muscle tore.
I was like, it was 300 pound linemen falling backwards,
just right on my calf.
Randomness, right?
The randomness of football, man.
Football.
Is there a cornerback that, like,
if you have to play a guy the next day,
is there a cornerback that kind of keeps you up at night
because you're like, man, that guy, he's good.
I had the first time to play against Jaylen Ramsey this year
when we played the Dolphins.
He is good.
And man, I feel like they're, yeah, he definitely
provides some times.
But man, I feel like there's some times I got him and there's never a perfect play out there,
so it's an incomplete pass, the DBC's that as a win,
but I'm like, man, one-on-one matches, we're pretty close.
Right, are you a talker, Puka?
I mean, I think you're secret.
No, maybe a little bit.
If we're close and you're talking to me,
I'm not gonna just stay on mute,
but I won't be the first one out there to say something.
Well, hold on a second, what does this sound like?
I don't know. Well, hold on a second,
this is how I think this is gonna have to work, StuGots.
You're gonna have to say something to him to insult him,
to motivate him to come back at you.
No, no, okay. Because he says that he doesn't start it,
so you're gonna have to start it with him.
Okay, so I'm the cornerback, okay.
I say something like, man, like, your breast stings,
I know you didn't brush your teeth this morning.
That is very weak.
Wait, but if I line up against you, okay, I'm Jalen Ramsey and I
say, Puka, not today. No catches. Your response is?
Oh, I might just sit there and smile. That's the first thing you said.
13 receptions, 150 yards. I think a smile sometimes is the best form
of trash talking. Like you're confident, you don't need to say anything, you've said enough
with your smile, and now I'm going to go light you up, exactly. That's how I like to do it. That's so
good. Puka in your wildest dreams. Did you think like I
know you thought, okay, NFL. This is where I want to be.
Did you think it would be this big this early in your wildest
dreams like you would be this great this early at a game
that is very difficult to play my friend. Now I guess I always envisioned myself having success and being able to have the people around me support me and have that payoff in a great way and I feel like it really has.
I feel like I come from a big family, I come from a football family. Being able to be in the Rams organization with guys like Cooper, guys like Matthew, the other veterans on the team like Tyler Higby. And just having a great support system,
it's really helped me.
It takes 11 on the football field
and it takes even more people to help have
a grace and sensible life.
And I've been blessed to have those people around me.
A little tired of the Chiefs.
Yeah.
You are.
You're saying yes, you are tired of the Chiefs.
Yes, I am tired of the Chiefs.
They're annoying, right?
The Eagles, I mean, it stinks to say that.
The Eagles too, you're tired of the Eagles?
No, I'd rather see the Eagles win. They're annoying, right? The Eagles, I mean, it stinks to say that. The Eagles too?
You're tired of the Eagles?
No, I'd rather see the Eagles win.
Wow.
What is happening here, Billy?
How many people have told us they'd rather see?
A lot of people would rather see the Eagles win.
I know, but is it just like, is it Chief's fatigue?
Is it like, what is that?
Like, no one roots for Philadelphia.
No, I know.
That's why I'm like, it doesn't make any sense.
You can't even figure it out! You're confused by it
I just don't want to see the Chiefs
It's okay
Don't feel bad
It seems like you're like don't feel bad, it's okay
Well he's a nice guy
Alright tell us one more time about the bowling tournament
Yeah, go bowling in Pepsi tomorrow
I'll be out there with some other NFL players
And we got a bowling event going on
If you're out here in the New Orleans area,
out here for the Super Bowl,
come have a nice cold Wild Pepsi cherry with me out there.
And then we can see.
Wild cherry Pepsi is the best Pepsi.
It's fantastic.
I'm glad we're all on the same page on that.
It's better than the original.
I got to be honest with you.
Puka, thank you, man.
I hope the bowling tournament goes well.
Continue success, and we appreciate your time, man.
Thank you, guys. Thank you. The great Reggie Bush is goes well. Continue success and we appreciate your time man. Thank you guys.
Thank you.
The great Reggie Bush is with us.
What are you doing here?
Super Bowl Radio Row.
We have Chiefs and Eagles coming up on Sunday.
Things are really picking up.
It's getting busier down here.
What are you doing with Tostitos?
Chips and dips have been a part of my life for every Super Bowl.
Of course.
Who doesn't love chips and dips?
Right.
What's your Super Bowl spread look like?
Let's see. If you're watching the game at home,? Yeah. Right. Yep. What's your Super Bowl spread look like?
Let's see.
If you're watching the game at home, you're in the living room, what's it look like?
I definitely have chips and dips number one because usually my wife will be cooking and,
you know, the cooking takes a little bit longer.
Yeah.
So you're kind of hungry while the cooking is happening.
So you need something to snack on.
Of course.
And that's where the chips and dips come into play. And then I would probably ask very nicely,
I would ask my wife if she could make it.
Very nicely.
Very nicely.
Very nicely.
Ask everything very nicely.
Well, with your wife especially.
I would ask her very nicely to make some of her favorite
dishes for Super Bowl.
OK.
All right.
Are you a regular chip or a scoop guy?
Oh, I love a Tostitos scoop.
I'm a scoop guy.
I like the little scooping chips that they made.
Yeah, the little bowls you go in there.
It's like a little pool for salsa.
Oh, delicious.
I love it.
You're in Billy's wheelhouse.
Delicious.
Can I tell you, I I love Tostitos,
one of the saddest days of my life
was this past couple months ago
where I was watching the Fiesta Bowl
and it was no longer the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
Oh, it broke my heart.
What is the point of having a Fiesta Bowl
if it's not the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl?
That's crazy. That's crazy.
Certain things belong together.
It just makes sense.
I haven't been the same ever since,
to be honest with you. I haven't fully recovered. Yeah. Yeah, I don't like it. Yeah.
We had, Ed Reed was sitting down with us earlier and we brought up the, who was the guest we had on before that from LSU, Billy?
We had on Christian, I don't remember. Yeah, it's been a long day. But regardless, he said, and I'm sorry to put Billy in a bad spot there. He was saying that the LSU, if you Christian Fulton,
Christian Fulton said, if you went all time, right?
And took all the guys.
LSU would have the best team as opposed
to if you took the all time grades from UM or USC.
Then Ed Reed sat down and he laughed at him and said,
are you kidding me?
Justin Jefferson has never played against me at UM.
I'm guessing you might think it's USC though. Well,
okay. Here's the thing. I grew up watching that that you.
Yeah. That that team that era. That was my favorite college
football team to watch. Okay. And those boys were they were
dogs. Like there's no other way to describe them other than
incredible. All those guys were dogs. Yeah. First round draft
picks at every position. Yes. Um some of their backups were
first. Yeah. We talk their backups were first round.
Yeah.
We talk about guys like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed,
a slew of running backs that they had there.
Willis McGahey.
Yeah.
McGahey was their third back.
Yeah.
He was the third running back.
Yeah, for a while.
Yes.
And so.
Frank Gore.
You know how he think was on that?
No?
For me, I always give, you know, I
got to give respect and my flowers
to the team that did it before us
Which was the you and the only team that we've ever been compared to is the you right?
That's only people that people have been able to compare to you to is a USC era that when we played there, right?
And so I feel like you know that game
You know if there was even ever an opportunity to for that game to happen that would be a dogfight
It would because you know, obviously they had great players.
We had great players.
They had Ed Reed.
Yeah. But we had Reggie Bush.
I know. You know what I'm saying?
And I was returning punts.
I know. Returning kicks.
Yeah. Catching passes.
Returning to running the football.
Like you couldn't you honestly couldn't stop me because I was being used in too many different ways.
Right.
And that's the way that I wanted it.
I wanted it to be that, okay, well, if you had a great day
playing defense and stopping me in a run game,
I can still hurt you in punt return.
Right.
And kick return.
Right, and catching the football.
Were you excited about NCAA coming back
this year, the video game?
1,000, oh my God.
I don't know how much, you were playing real light.
Look at the smile on his face.
I was playing as you. Oh my God. As a child, I was playing as you in the video game. 1,000. Oh my god. I don't know how much. You were playing real light. Look at the smile on his face. I was playing as you.
Oh my god.
As a child, I was playing as you in the video game.
A cheat code.
Unstoppable character.
So I don't know how excited you were, how much you played.
When you played as yourself, was that cool?
It was amazing.
So I actually just partnered with also with EA Sports
for the college football 25 game that just came out.
And it re-released my character into the game.
And I played the game with our team, our USC team, and myself.
I ran back three kickoff returns.
Nice.
Nice.
Oh, against Vince Young.
I ran three kickoff returns against Vince.
What a game that was.
Holy crap.
So yeah, man.
Great game.
It was awesome. But yeah, Vince is my dog. Shout out to Vince. We just played a college that was. Holy crap. It was awesome.
Vince is my dog.
Shout out to Vince.
We just played a college football game.
We did it on YouTube.
But yeah, man, I was so excited about that game coming back.
Yeah.
Are you surprised, Pete Carroll?
Pete Carroll.
Yeah.
Is he a young 77?
He's a young 77.
Almost annoying.
He's a very young 77.
He's got too much energy.
I'm not going to have that amount of energy when I'm saying, I'm not going to get. He's a very young person. He's got too much energy. Like, calm down.
I'm not going to have that amount of energy when I'm saying,
I'm not going to get to 77.
Get out of here.
That's why I think it was a good hire.
I knew it.
Yeah.
If the Raiders think they're getting an old man,
they're not, right?
Exactly.
You're not getting an old man.
And listen, I don't love the way that that situation played out
for my guy Antonio, because I think he's a great coach. Sure. out for, you know, my guy Antonio,
because I think he's a great coach.
Sure.
I know he got one year, right?
Yeah, he only got one year.
Like, let's see where, and this has, you know,
been one of my biggest, I think, issues with the NFL is,
I would love to see more younger,
former players being hired as head coaches.
Because these are the guys that the players remember.
They're the ones that the players have respect for.
Interesting. Right, no disrespect to any of the older coaches.
I love Pete.
I played for Pete.
He was great.
But also, when you're trying to, when
you need to be able to relate to the youth.
Yeah, connect with the players.
Connect with the youth.
Connect with the players.
It's funny.
We had Quincy Williams on.
He said, I watched Aaron Glenn growing up.
And so he's excited to play for Aaron Glenn. Yes, exactly
Yeah, and so that's that's the thing and that's that's what you want, right?
And that's that's for me as a player always had a ton
I loved playing for coaches who played the game like I loved that that to me was cuz now I knew that the things that
They were you know telling me they actually did it. They lived it. You know I'm saying they know what I'm going through
Yes, he's great great He's gonna do amazing, but I would love to see Antonio get another opportunity because he deserves it man
He and he took over in a bad situation exactly he earned it
He took over that job that honestly I think when they gave him the interim job
They had no intention of hiring me as a coach
Yeah, he got the job because of the job that he did the half season exactly then he only gets a year
And it's like never mind. Yeah, it's like you can't do anything with that,
man. And, you know, so again, we can hit on that all day, but I
love seeing Antonio get another job. Reggie Bush is with us on
behalf of Tostitos. Hey, man. Thank you guys. We appreciate
you. Thank you so much. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Cameron Dicker is here. He's promoting himself. Yes. Yeah. I
love that, man. Promote yourself.
Go ahead.
Yeah, I mean, I've been working with the Friendship Foundation
this year, which has been super fun.
It's been a foundation out in Manhattan Beach area.
And it's just a foundation that helps kids with special needs.
And it's been just a fun group to go out and work with.
I'm told you're also promoting your merch.
A little bit.
I'm trying to come out with some cool stuff,
so we'll see what happens.
He doesn't want to immediately go into promoting merch.
We'll see what happens.
All the good work that he's done.
Walter Payton, man of the year.
We'll get to the Walter Payton.
I want to get his message.
And you're like, let's sell t-shirts.
I want to make him some money.
That's all I'm trying to do.
The DickerTheKicker stuff, great name.
Yes.
Could be some fun stuff. OK. That's what I'm trying to do. The Dicker the Kicker stuff, great name. Yes. Could be some fun stuff.
Right.
OK.
Yes.
That's what I'm talking about.
We're getting some fun stuff out there for sure.
Right.
And yeah, it'll all come by next season.
I was going to ask, do you like Dicker the Kicker?
I love it.
OK.
It's been around since seventh grade for me.
He seems to embrace it.
Has he, really?
Yeah, it's been forever.
So I'm so used to it now.
Who gave you the name?
My science teacher in seventh grade, Mr. G.
Really?
Yep. Mr. G, now be careful seventh grade, Mr. G. Really?
Yep.
Mr. G, now be careful.
Because if Mr. G is still with us,
and you start selling things that say kicker the kicker,
Mr. G may come after you.
You copyrighted that thing?
What happened?
I've copyrighted it.
Mr. G knows what's going on.
OK.
Be careful.
Yeah, I see him around all the time still.
Mr. G may be coming after you soon.
I know.
We'll see what happens.
Yeah.
OK, so Mr. G is still a friend.
Yep.
OK, he deserves most of the credit.
Yeah, he's awesome.
Then Gus Johnson really brought it to the global,
to the big name.
But Mr. G was right there.
Is Mr. G still teaching?
He is still teaching, yeah.
OK, good.
So he's a science teacher, super fun.
What type of science?
I don't know, sixth and seventh grade science,
and eighth grade science, whatever that was.
I don't know why I'm asking so much about mr. G. Yeah, because we love mr. G
Do you mind if we get mr. G on at some point just ask him questions
Are you having fun this week in New Orleans I am got here yesterday
I'll have it honors tonight and that'll be a blast.
Right.
So Greg Cody, a Miami Herald columnist,
he said to us last week that winning Super Bowl MVP
would mean more than the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
It's blasphemous, OK?
Do you agree with him?
I do not agree.
OK.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
I mean, Super Bowl MVP would be nice.
It'd be nice.
It'd be nice, but I think the Walter Payton Man of the year award kind of stick out a little bit. Yes in life
Yes in terms of your personality
Yeah, definitely more meaningful right attributes kind of who you are and also what you've done
So I think that means a little more are you surprised that you have arrived where you've arrived like is this
This is like dream come true type stuff, yeah it's kind of wild I never thought about
playing football I know even in college I think about playing football
professionally it all just kind of his doors have just kind of kept opening and
I just keep saying yes right the most nervous you've ever been up if do you
get nervous before cakes not really no I mean I get you never get nervous I
wouldn't really say so like not that I remember I mean I get more. You never get nervous? I wouldn't really say so. Like not that I remember.
I mean like even college, that was probably
like one of the bigger kicks was college freshman year
against Oklahoma.
And I mean there's the video, the meme of me on the sideline
like giving a heads up and a wink to somebody.
That was like right before the kick.
So I'd say I'm pretty relaxed during it.
I don't understand this level of relaxed and level of cool to be perfectly honest with you.
It's weird.
I'd be a nervous wreck if I walked out there.
Yeah, of course.
80,000 people are there.
You only win if it goes through.
I mean, teammates don't like you if it doesn't.
Yeah, it's just what I do every day.
You know what I mean?
It's the same thing.
Like, you guys doing this.
You don't get nervous doing this.
And so it's like, OK, it's kind of the same idea.
Are you more of a homer road kicker?
Like, do you like to kick the one that shuts the crowd up
or the one that gets the crowd going?
A road kick is pretty electric.
Yeah.
Like ending the game on the road, right?
Yeah.
Or like it's coming down, you need
this to tie the game and stuff.
And the stadium's going crazy, and then they
see it going through, and it's just like, quiet immediately. And you're like yeah that's awesome.
Yeah that's a pretty sweet feeling.
Too easy at home I think.
At home it's kind of like.
More challenging you know.
Yeah at home it's just kind of like okay like yeah that's fun but it's cool to do.
So when did you realize you were going to go or had a chance at least to get to the
NFL?
Because it's interesting you never set out to get there and here you are.
Yeah, honestly, people joked about it in high school all the time.
But I never really thought about it seriously.
And then just having the opportunity through college and doing pretty well
throughout college, I was like, oh, OK, this might happen.
Yeah. So yeah.
Or a crazy person.
Harbaugh's awesome. He's like, I explain him best as your friend's weird dad.
Right, I like that.
He's like so loving.
That's so good.
And it fits him so well.
Like the way he is with the media is the way he is with all of us.
Yes.
You're just like, dude, what are we talking about right now?
But we love it.
And it brings teams together.
And if that's the reason he has such tight teams,
it's like he's such a strange guy and such a fun guy
that you're just like, dude, you're awesome.
Just loving.
It's the honest form of leadership.
I think we were talking to Christian Fulton earlier
who was telling us, yeah, you need
to pay really close attention when he's talking
because you never know exactly where it's going to end
or how he's going to tie it all together.
I swear, team meetings, it's just story time.
And then it's somehow within within that it all connected to football
Everybody's like man. Yeah, you're right. Like somewhere along that you got me. That's incredible
Tell us something about Jim Harbaugh that we don't know like is there like do you know anything?
It's that you can share with you. I don't want to get you in trouble. He's your head coach
Like with Belichick for years, it would say always sneaky funny. You just don't see it, you know
But with Belichick, for years, it would say, oh, he's sneaky funny.
You just don't see it.
You know?
I think Jim's so open to everybody
that you guys have almost heard all of the stories that
are able to share.
Because he's such an open book.
Because he's such an open book.
For me, for a while, I was like, there's no way this guy's
this open.
There's got to be hiding something.
No, there's something.
Go find it for us.
You're always trying to think about something,
but it's the way he is.
He's just so genuinely loving that you're like this is kind of like weird and awesome
Yeah, never had a head coach like that never never in my life
I don't think you'll ever meet another person in your life quite like Jim Horba. No, but yes
No, he is a very unique individual. I mean, he's the craziest person I've ever met
There's something going on where you're like, whoa, this is a lot.
I saw him at Augusta, he was walking around with his kids and like, you want to say, I
go normal dad, do a normal dad.
No, he was crazy even doing that.
Yeah, so it's awesome.
He always has kids.
It's cool to see that he always spends time with his kids, like after practice, they're
always around.
So he gets his family time in, too, which is good.
Listen, just between us, getting tired of the cheese.
Oh, boy.
Yeah, of course. I want the Eagles
Yeah, I want I did one game there so I know some of those guys there I feel like if I was there for one game and then I was and I would I would want them to suffer
I disagree. They were a great organization
I knew I was only gonna be there for one or two games and like I got for me
What stood out to me was when I went to the Chargers I had the game
winning field goal my first week there and Nick Sirianni texted me right after
the game was like hey congrats super cool to see you succeeding and I said
right there that shows the organization and you have me. Look at this guy. So I mean great dude.
You know what it's not up to me in my book Walter Pated man of the year right here, Attaboy
You win if you don't win the Walter Pated man of the year award
I'm gonna give you the Billy Gill man of the year. Thank you. I get with that
We do it every year here
the first annual. Yeah, really good. We need to start doing
that. Let's go. That would be
awesome. Ah, all right, man.
One more time on the way out.
We appreciate your time. Tell
us what you're doing. Promote
yourself a man. Yep. Just here
enjoying time at the Super Bowl
here for the Walter Payton Man
of the Year nominee for the
Chargers. And so just kind of
promoting the good work that
the Lord's done in my life and just sharing the love of Jesus to everybody out there.
So it's just something something little I can do on an everyday basis.
And so, yeah, thank you.
All right. We appreciate the time. Listen, if you don't win it, we're rooting for you.
We want you to win it. But you you got the Billy.
I know I appreciate it.
You have that in your back pocket.
Let's go. Awesome.
Thank you, buddy. Thank you.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
All right. Good luck.

["Dreams of a New World"]
I actually have a question for you once we get going from a story that we've been told
and we've heard multiple versions of this story.
If it came from the goleks mouth it's...
I believe that it was you.
Absolutely false.
I believe that it was you that was involved.
Oh god.
You're gonna start right there Billy?
We can.
Alright.
Kyle Rudolph, it's Radio Row. It's Thursday.
It's Eagles and Chiefs coming up on Sunday.
You have to dig deep on Thursday.
Everyone's tired.
You got to tell your body not today.
Kyle Rudolph is with us here on behalf of Good Sports.
And Billy has a very probing and pressing question, it seems.
We'll get to what you're doing with Good Sports in a second.
But let's go, Billy.
No, it's not a probing a pressing question.
I have a question for you. Kyle, were you's go, Billy. No, it's not approving a pressing question. I just have a question for you.
Let's get it out there.
Kyle, were you a little nervous when
he said, I actually have a question for you?
Yes, I'm a little nervous, but lay it on me.
This is not something that would put you in a bad position
at all, and I'm pretty positive from the story
that we've been told by multiple people now.
You were involved in the story, but it was not
anything that you did.
We were told, you know Jessica Smetana,
have you met Jessica?
So she's friends with the Golic,
she stayed at the Golic's, they were there
for the Notre Dame, the first playoff game.
Absolutely, I know Jessica.
The story goes that,
I know where this is going.
Now you're nervous.
No, no, no, I know where this is going.
The story goes that she was under the understanding
that the Gullags were having, I guess,
like a victory party at the house.
She was staying at the house.
She goes.
She was excited.
And then you showed up, and you showed up with Shane Gillis.
And none of the Gullags were there.
They all left to go to the airport
and just head out of town.
So everybody thought they were going to a nice victory party
at the Gullag household.
And the Gullag household, the Gullags
just abandoned you guys. Yeah, Golick household, the goalists just
abandoned you guys.
Yeah, so Notre Dame college football
playoff game on campus.
Big win for us against IU.
And we were sitting in the suite with Shane.
And he kind of leans over and he's like,
yo, where are we going after this?
And I'm like, well, I'm not taking you to the linebacker.
We're not going to CJ's or fittings.
I can't take you into a college bar in South Bend.
There's no way.
Those will get mobbed.
Yeah.
Yes, right.
Forget us as all the former players.
Not in his best interest.
So I text Junior, and I'm like, hey, Mikey, what
are you doing after this?
We're walking distance to the house.
And he's like, let's hang out and have some beers.
He's like, we don't leave till 12.45 or something like that.
That's all he said was we don't leave till 12.45.
So in my mind, I'm thinking that's 12.45 tomorrow afternoon.
Of course, right, yes.
Not an hour from now.
Right.
So kind of round the troops up in the suite.
We head over.
We walk to the house, go in the side door,
and they're like packing up their suitcases.
And I'm like, what are you guys doing?
Right.
Like, we're leaving at 12.45.
That's in 15 minutes.
Like, what do you mean we're leaving at 12.45?
I'm like, yeah, we got to go to Happy Valley.
We're going to Penn State for the Penn State SMU game
tomorrow.
I'm like, well, you have any beers?
We're already here.
That's all you care about.
Well, yeah, the fridge has got a few different beers.
So Shane called me and he's like, hey, I think we're outside.
I'm like, yeah, come on in.
So he comes in.
We were sitting there having beers.
And then again, Jessica walks in.
She's kind of just like, yeah, that's Shane Gillis.
Where were the Gullicks?
They left. They went to the airport.
So yeah, they had packed up.
Jake actually drove Junior and Senior to the airport.
So it was literally just me and a couple of my buddies and Shane,
his girlfriend, his manager.
So we're just hanging out having beers in the Gullicks house.
So good. Somebody had to celebrate the win. Yeah. The Gullick should have a bar at Notre Dame. Don't you think oh absolutely?
Yeah, let's uh let's get on that Rudolph me and you okay. I'm in
Well the Gullicks would have to get on that
No we're in
If they're in we'll give them naming rights, but 80-20 hour way right you get with that
I'm in I'll take the 20 I'm good
Billy I interviewed Kyle Rudolph I interviewed Mike Gullick
jr. from Kyle Rudolph's bed once yes that's how close these two are he slept
over he slept in Kyle's bed okay and he joined the show from Kyle's yeah that
needed some clarification because that could have been that could have gone a
number of different ways but it also sounded like you were in his bed for
some reason Mike he was in town for one of our charity events.
And he's like, dude, I got to get up here in a few hours.
I got to get on.
I got to go to work.
I'm like, just do it right here.
We'll be good.
Tell us what you're doing with Good Sports,
because I have more questions about the Gullocks
afterwards.
Of course.
No, speaking of charity events, so this year I
was introduced to Good Sports.
I spoke on a panel that they had in New York City, and really just learning more about
the organization.
And basically, what Good Sports does is they provide access and equipment to youth.
Sports now are getting so outrageously expensive.
Raising.
There's a statistic that 75% of parents contemplate taking their
kids out of sports because it's just too expensive and they can't afford
everything. When I was a kid I signed up for football and I showed up and they
had, it wasn't the nicest equipment, but I had my helmet and shoulder pads and
all the gear that I needed. My parents just had to get me cleats, maybe gloves, something
like that. And I feel like in today's world, youth sports are, it's becoming like a market,
like it's so expensive to have your child participate in sports and what good sports
does and the access that they provide for these kids who need it. I think about all the life lessons that I learned
as a kid playing sports.
Yes, ultimately I was able to reach a level
of professional sports, but that's not what it's about.
It's about these kids being kids,
having the opportunity to play sports
and learn the lessons that we all learned
playing youth sports.
Learning how to be a good teammate,
learning how to handle adversity,
learning how to handle success,
all the things that ultimately make us better humans
as we grow up.
Good sports is making sure that those 75% of parents
don't have to ultimately make that decision
to remove their child from sports.
When we've arrived at a place where
sports are too expensive for kids to play,
that's a bad place.
It's an awful place.
It's a ridiculous place, right?
It is.
And again, I just go back to I get it.
I have kids.
So eight-year-old girls in sports.
I have a six-year-old son in sports.
And then my three-year-old's starting T-ball this year.
And it's so funny being around youth sports. Like I go to my six-year-old son in sports, and then my three-year-old's starting T-ball this year. And it's so funny being around youth sports.
Like, I go to my six-year-old's hockey games,
and every kid in there, or every dad in there,
thinks their son's going to play in the NHL.
Of course, yes.
My kid's like eating ice in the corner,
and like tripping over, and starting fights,
and stuff like that.
And it's just like, that's what kids are supposed to do.
Yes, be kids.
Ultimately, if he's good enough to play sports,
to pay for school and potentially provide
his living one day, great.
But that's not what it's about.
Go be a kid.
Go be a good teammate.
Learn the life lessons that sports teach you.
And good sports has just done such an incredible job.
The more I've learned about the organization,
the more I get involved with the organization,
it's an honor for me to sit up here
with the Good Sports logo on my quarter zip
and just use my platform to continue the work
that they're doing.
That's a good job out of you, man.
I appreciate it.
And I like the top here.
Thank you.
That's what I said.
You want to get me one I'll wear the entire day for you. I think we can make that happen. I'm not sure if I'm going to get it. And I like the
uh I like the top here. Yeah.
That's what I said. You know,
you want to get me one aware
the entire day for you. I think
we can make that for that. It's
a nice one. I like to ask
someone because you their shirt
Kyle. We can get you to taking
care of. But Kyle's a big
golfer. He knows this. You
cannot have too many of these.
It doesn't matter what the logo
is. Doesn't matter what it says.
It's a nice little quarter.
Right? Too many quarters. Absolutely. Are you still doing the Beer Olympics?
So we call it the lake bash. Okay sorry. When you raise money for a children's hospital they don't. Yeah Beer Olympics is a strange name. They don't love Beer Olympic. Gojo told me it was called the
Beer Olympics. Well yeah. It's 100% a Beer Olympics. Okay thank you. The champion is decided by Flip
Cup. Like let's be honest.
But hey, we're raising money for a children's hospital
in Minnesota.
So the shout out, M Health Fairview Masonic Children's
Hospital, they don't love, if I call it, Beer Olympics.
Yeah, Lake Bash is a nice name.
I did it.
Not Kyle, it was me.
Let's be honest.
It's the Beer Olympics.
OK.
It's quarters and beer pong.
Over a series of how many days?
So one day, it's probably four hours.
The first year, it got aggressive.
Oh, I know it did.
I think that's where we had you on.
Yeah.
We're competitive by nature.
So I can't go to my own event and lose to people.
So I think we won the title the first three years.
Junior was on our team all three of those years.
I like to think, you know, I'm the Howie Roastman of Beer
Olympics.
I put together a pretty good team.
I stacked it up for us pretty good.
What year would the team?
What year we buy on this?
On the Lake Bash?
We would have been, basically it was the three or four years
leading up to 2020 because then in 2020 we couldn't do it.
So we need to fire it back up again.
I love that you think you're the greatest at putting together
a team of people who can drink beer the best.
Absolutely, that's what it's all about.
That is so good.
When you look at, we have obviously a big game coming up
on Sunday, the biggest of games, Eagles and Chiefs.
Do you view Travis Kelsey, when you look at him,
do you see the greatest tight end of all time?
Yeah.
And I think he's just like, each and every year that goes by,
he's putting himself in a stratosphere
that tight ends have never gotten to.
I described it as when you're a receiver
and you start getting mentioned alongside Jerry Rice,
that's Larry Fitzgerald and these guys that are just
first ballot Hall of Famers.
He's now a tight end that's getting mentioned and breaking receiving records
that Jerry Rice has set.
So it's just one of those things that it's
almost unfathomable to think about him, especially
the playoff statistics.
I mean, the playoff statistics.
And I get it.
That's way more than just Travis.
It's team success.
Having the greatest quarterback
of this generation right now, and Patrick Mahomes
under center, and the amount of winning
that they've done in this 10-year span.
They win on Sunday.
They're unequivocally, no doubt, the greatest decade
dynasty in all of football.
Right, three-peat, yes.
Three-peat, no one's ever done it.
No one's been in the Super Bowl five out of six years.
Obviously the Patriots would have something to say
about a two decade long dynasty.
Of course.
So we'll see.
So much obviously has to go the way of Patrick
and Travis won't be around for that second decade dynasty.
Right.
But who knows?
I mean, for Tom to play 23 years,
that's a huge part of that 16 success over two decades.
So we'll get you out of here in just a second here.
We'll let you promote good sports one more time
on the way out.
But that's an interesting thought right there,
because people are talking about Travis
and how much longer he'll keep doing this.
You don't leave a quarterback like this.
Like, you'll tack on a couple extra years, right,
for Patrick?
You'll do it as long as you can.
Right. At the end of the day, Travis is 35 years old. Right. like this, like you'll tack on a couple extra years, right, for Patrick? You'll do it as long as you can.
Right.
At the end of the day, Travis is 35 years old.
He's not going to be out there 10 years from now.
Right.
You would assume Patrick probably still will be.
No, but I'm thinking like two or three years from now.
People think he's going to retire after this game.
I'm like, no.
I don't see it.
Yeah.
You're going to the Super Bowl every year.
Like, you have the greatest quarterback in the game right now.
He still caught like 90-something balls.
I think it was 98.
You don't retire when you catch it.
I think Tony Gonzalez retired after like a 94 catch
season, which is insane.
But when you're catching 98 and winning and putting a ring
on your finger every year, what's the point of leaving?
I retired because I caught four and they wouldn't throw it
to me anymore.
So I was like, yeah, it's time for me to go.
It sounds like they've made the decision for you.
I'm out.
All right, go check out the goleks here.
He's going there next.
But one more time on the way out, tell us about Good Sports.
Yeah, I know.
Good Sports is an incredible organization
doing unbelievable work making sure
that our kids stay in sports.
Sports taught me so much as a kid.
It's far beyond just grooming the next generation
of professional athletes.
This is making sure that kids have all the opportunities
that they deserve.
You're a good man, Kyle Rudolph.
We appreciate it.
Thanks, Dugats.
I appreciate it.
You got it, man.
We have a legend here on the set,
Joe Montano, one of the greatest quarterbacks,
if not the greatest quarterback of all time.
We will get to that in just a second.
Tell us what you're doing with Pfizer.
Yeah, I've been partnering with Pfizer now for a number of years and we're just trying
to get out the word that the CDC now has lowered your at risk for pneumococcal pneumonia to
age 50 and above. And if you're 50 and above, you're about six times more likely to be at
risk for getting pneumococcal pneumonia and that
one of the things we were saying is get with your doctor get with your
pharmacist see what your your risk level is but they're still saying get out
there and get vaccinated no matter what and if you're like this guy said if
you're 50 and older you should get there and do that if you want to learn more
about it they've got a great website.
It's called vaxassist.com.
That's B-A-X-assist.com.
A lot of good information on there
and I'll help you weather your way through it.
Billy, these were words that are difficult
for me to pronounce and say.
So Joe's like, hey, just throw it to me.
Say Pfizer, I'll take care of the rest.
Why?
Because he's clutch.
That's what he does.
I mean, I see that.
Yeah, I can't say those words, Billy.
Billy, here's the other thing.
I think Joe Montana and it's ridiculous that you're being left out of these
conversations because everyone's talking about my homes, Brady, my homes, Brady.
I grew up. I watched you.
I know how great you are.
You went to four Super Bowls.
You won four Super Bowls, Joe.
Like those guys have all been to Super Bowls and lost.
You know who hasn't? Joe Bleep in Montana.
How about that?
Well, I appreciate that.
You have that over there.
But when you watch, when you watch Patrick Mahomes play,
like as great as you were at the game of football,
do you marvel the way we do with Patrick
Mahomes? Oh yeah he's a different cat. Right. I mean he gets it done no matter how he hit throw
behind your back whatever you got to do. Yeah. He's just got so many different deliveries. He's
he's in what people call the zone. I don't I don't like that word but that'll help you understand
that he's right now he's playing at the top of his game and he's I don't care who word, but that'll help you understand that he's, right now he's playing at the top of his game
and he's, I don't care who you are and when it is,
even if they're having a bad year, he's tough to be.
Right, do you feel left out of that conversation though?
Just, I mean, really?
Yeah, no.
You don't care?
No, it's one of those things,
it's really hard to compare guys, I always think because I say the guys who played before me,
the ball was a different shape. Right. And one of the guys,
and I never remember if it was Sammy Bar or Otto Graham,
one of them won 11 championships before there were Super Bowls.
So you know, what even knows that he remembers that. And, um,
I don't know. I just think it's just too hard
to compare through Arrows.
Do you, when you see what the Chiefs are doing now,
coming off of kind of what the Patriots did,
do you have fatigue in the type of dynasty, things like that?
Do you want to see a team like the Eagles come up
and overtake, I guess, the Chiefs to some sense?
Or do you like the history that we're watching
with the Chiefs?
Well, I think the one good thing with the Chiefs,
it's always nice to see a record being set, right?
And to have someone go three-peat for the first time
would be great to see.
You know, obviously I played in Kansas City.
But then it also would be great to see someone win,
like the Eagles.
And so you're tossed and torn.
But like I said,
Mahoney is tough to beat.
Mahoney, I forgot about the years you went to the chiefs.
You went to the AFC championship game that first year.
Yeah. Yeah.
If we hadn't screwed up, we would we would have made it to the Super Bowl.
Oh, Joe, what happened?
You're still you're still living with it.
What happened?
You know what we lost?
We lost like three games before the end of the season.
Right, yeah.
We should have beaten.
And instead of getting home field advantage,
we had to go to Buffalo.
Right.
And it was 50 degrees and sunshine in Kansas City that day.
It was not 50 degrees and sunshine in Buffalo.
You wanted home field there.
Oh, God, yeah.
And we'd already beat them once earlier in the year.
When you see, I guess, the current landscape of quarterbacks out there in the NFL now,
Holmes obviously has kind of like a stranglehold on the Super Bowls and the winning and all that stuff.
There are the Josh Allens out there, the Joe Burrows, the Lamar Jacksons.
It seems like, and we've talked about it all year long,
unfortunately it seems like they're just all so great at the same time.
At least one of them is probably going to get cut out of winning championships
just because there's only one championship every year.
Too many quarterbacks, not enough years, you know?
And they're all roughly the same age, too.
I know, and they're all great.
They better hurry up.
But it's kind of unfair in that way. roughly the same age. Yes, I know they're all great. They better hurry up.
But it's not fair that it's like when Jordan played, you knew there was a series of great players who were not going to win an NBA title. Yeah, that's kind of the deal right now with my homes in the other quarterbacks.
Yeah, you know, the Chiefs are finding a way to keep that team together.
Right? So yeah, it's great to have a great quarterback.
or finding a way to keep that team together. Right, so yeah, it's great to have a great quarterback,
but you know, everybody has to get to these games,
everything kind of has to fall together.
I mean, if you, they've made it through early,
they had a lot of their injuries early in the year,
and you want to get healthy back now.
And unfortunately for the Eagles,
they're pretty healthy right now.
So I think it's still gonna be a good game.
I think the Eagles just, you know, they can control.
Usually when you see a team, everyone's, you know,
it's the quarterback throwing the ball, throwing the ball,
but usually the teams that win end up
having a pretty good running game.
So the Eagles getting insane this year.
I know, so I think it's gonna be fun to watch.
Gonna be a fun one.
Joe, what do you think the 49ers should do with Brock Purdy?
Well, I was just talking about that earlier. Everybody's saying I think you got you have to pay him
I mean you I can show you a handful of quarterbacks out there making a
Ton of money. Yes, that hasn't produced anywhere near what he's produced in the short amount of time. He's been able to do it. So
He's had some nice weapons around him too and they were the opposite way.
They had injuries throughout the whole year.
And so everybody has ups and down years.
And, you know, unfortunately for him, I think there was a lot of pressure on
trying to have to win games instead of, and there were times like he got sacked
so many times, but I felt for him because I look on the screen
and I can't see a wide receiver in the picture.
Right.
And I'm going, no wonder he's holding the ball.
So, but hey, you gotta pay him.
Yeah.
You gotta pay him.
John Montana, do you know how much money
you would make in today's NFL?
Do you think about that?
I mean, seriously.
I try not to.
Yeah.
Do you really?
I got one guy's game check was more than I made a
whole year.
Just the way it is.
You know, you did pretty good yourself.
I know it but the funny thing is the way I look at is all
the guys who played before me, right?
Say the same thing about my right.
Yeah, so I know you played basketball growing up.
I think you're
still, you're a big basketball
fan. Uh what do you make of
Jimmy Butler going to golden
state? Your area. You know, I
think it's going to be
interesting to see. Um you know,
they need someone to kind of
give a spark to him and
hopefully he's the he's the key
right? Yeah. Billy, why are you
laughing? He's a golden state
fan. I mean, he's not he's he's a Celtic fan. Yeah. Yeah. No.
What do you know? He's a he's a he's a big Golden State
Warrior. I grew up a Celtic fan. That's what I know. I
know. No, he's not a Celtics fan. He's been down in Miami
too long. So, his entire life by too long. Yeah. Uh Joe. So,
one more time on the way out. Tell us what you're doing with
uh with Pfizer and we do appreciate the time. The greatest quarterback of all time on the way out, tell us what you're doing with Pfizer.
And we do appreciate the time.
The greatest quarterback of all time.
I said it there, go ahead.
I've been working with Pfizer for a number of years now
with pneumococcal pneumonia,
and just trying to get the word out that the CDC now
has lowered the at-risk age to 50 and above,
and that you're six times more likely at risk
at 50 and above.
And, you know, recommending people get out and look and get vaccinated against it.
And the website is vaxassist.com, V-A-X-A-S-S-I-S-T.com.
And to learn a lot more about what we're, what Pfizer's doing.
Tell your wife I don't care what she says respectfully.
Those are great sneakers.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Thank you, Joe.
We appreciate the time.
Thank you.
And enjoy the rest of the week here.
Thank you so much, Joe.
You too.
Legend Joe Montana.
Nice little Old Spice shirt that is right there.
No doubt.
Soft.
Careful, he's going to ask.
I'm going to ask for one.
Yeah.
He's been asking everyone for whatever they're wearing.
It's weird.
Hey, Old Spice, can I get a shirt? I'm going to ask for one. Yeah. He's been asking everyone for whatever they're
wearing. It's weird. Hey, Old
Spice, can I get a shirt? I'm
joking. I would wear it. Yeah.
Double XL. Double XL? They're
not making XLs like they used
to. You're not a double XL.
Trey Hendricks, he knows they're
not making XLs like they used
to, right? You know that. Yeah,
I know. I know. Well, Trey
hasn't been in XL probably since you were what? Like right? You know that. Yeah, I know. I know. Well, Trey hasn't
been in XL probably since you
were what? Like fourteen years
old or something. Uh it was I
was 225 for a while. So, I got
out of XL kind of late. Yeah.
Uh you having fun this week,
man? Yeah. Yeah. Pretty good.
What have you been getting into?
Uh for the most part, just
hanging out at the hotel and
stuff but. Great. That's
boring. Yeah. Stay out of
trouble, Trey. Don't listen to him. When do we start? We start.
Oh, we are.
Oh, shit.
Excuse me.
We started.
Yeah, we started.
Yes.
So you're bored at the hotel.
You're not doing anything.
Yeah, for the most part.
My brother and I are hanging out.
Food is definitely the most entertainment
we're going to get.
All right.
What do you think of this?
I think the winner of this game should
have to play the Cincinnati Bengals.
You know, we played both of them. I think weals. We played both of them.
I think we had our shots on both of them.
And I think we lost both.
So that's a tough sell for us.
But I think our football season ended outside the playoffs.
And you got to wear what your record is.
Yeah.
We'll get to the game here and all the festivities around it
in just a second.
But tell everyone what you're doing with Old Spice Total
Body Dry Free Deodorant. Yeah, this is with Old Spice Total Body Dry Free Deodorant.
Yeah, this is the Old Spice Total Body Dry Field Deodorant.
It obviously keeps the piles feeling fresh.
It's all over the NFL, so everybody can wear it, and I highly advise they do, because some
guys, I don't know what they're doing.
Wow, you're saying some guys?
Oh yeah.
Give me someone who smells.
Yeah, who's the smelliest person you've cleared against? Come on, Drew. No, I'll stay in my locker room. Why? Are you saying some guys? Oh, yeah. Give me someone who smells.
Who's the smelliest person you've played against?
No, I'll stay in my locker room.
BJ Hill can throw him right under the bus.
Oh, yeah.
Because he can take it.
That's why you went to BJ Hill.
Right under the bus.
That'll be every stop I'll be talking about BJ.
How frustrating was it for you guys?
Because you know how good you guys are when you have everyone,
everything go in the right way.
Everyone's healthy.
How you finish so strong, right?
But for Joe to have that kind of season and for you guys not
to be able to capitalize it a big way on that kind of season.
How frustrating was that for the entire team?
Well, I kind of hinted at it before you wear your record,
you know, and that makes it, you it, it's a humbling sport.
It's obviously a win or a loss league.
There's a couple we wish we had back, but that's not how it is.
So you go out there, you produce.
And credit to Joe and Jamar and obviously T Higgins
for having incredible seasons.
Luan Arumbo turned our defensive,
what we are as a unit around, so that we had a winning record.
I'm having trouble looking at you, Trey.
I'm not going to lie.
Why?
Because he's so good looking?
No, because he went to FAU and he's an owl.
Yeah, and I went to FAU.
He's a FAU guy.
Yeah.
Shula Bowl rivals, if you will.
Yeah, yeah.
Shula Bowl is always a special game.
I think you guys more than us as of late.
Shula Bowl has been through.
Amazing.
What's that? John New Smith. He's amazing. Oh my god, hel has been a great idea for you. John-Drew Smith is amazing.
John-Drew Smith, he's amazing.
Oh my god, he's killing it.
Incredible.
Yeah, we played against each other for four years.
Yeah.
So that made the Schuylibowl interesting for me.
Yeah.
You know, obviously we've been in the league
for eight years together, so 12 years playing with him.
You know, it's a pretty incredible thing.
And then coming back down and having his best season
so far in Miami has to be cool for him.
Oh, yeah.
Getting to talk to him at the Pro Bowl was really cool.
A humble guy. Yeah. Works hard, so. How'd you wind up at FAU just out of curiosity? Um, it was somewhere
I wanted to play defensive end the offers weren't as
Obviously for tight end I had bigger offers, you know
You know everybody has those like preferred walk-ons when you're talking about smaller conferences didn't want to do that
And then it's being close to my family, you know
They've been such a huge part of the development in my life,
my parents, my brother, my sister, obviously, aunts,
uncles, all that stuff.
So being able to drive about four hours from Orlando
is something that was really important to me.
So it was a perfect fit.
I got to produce at a high level.
And obviously, playing in the National Football League
is the goal.
Billy, you have to like Trey.
He spent four years of college, the best four years,
well, if it was four years of his life, in Boca Raton.
And he doesn't leave the hotel on Super Bowl week.
I mean, he's like you.
I mean, listen, Trey, just keep doing what you're doing.
It's working out for you.
Oh, I'm doing great, yes.
Don't listen to him.
Look, let me ask you a thing.
No, I'm saying you have to love him.
I love him for it.
As respectfully as possible.
It's my definition of fun.
Do you want to?
My wife and I, we have a great time.
I've had an amazing time with my wife doing absolutely nothing.
That's so good.
That's what you want to look like at 50.
No, but he's too young.
Well, he plays football.
I mean, I'm sorry.
But you're too young for the-
We can go bowling.
I mean, bowling night, it's Super Bowl week.
You're going bowling?
Super bowling. Super bowling. See? We're going bowling. Super Bowling. Super Bowling.
See, we're going to go Super Bowl.
Trey gets it.
What's a wild night out in the town for you, Trey?
Can you?
Um, probably a scary movie.
Oh, I'm getting a little wild.
Crazy. Only if you guys are feeling wild.
Quacky.
Yeah.
So what's your favorite scary movie?
Oh, I don't have any.
That's how wild we don't get.
You're watching Harry Met Sally.
But no, it's good stuff.
Oh my God. No, it's not good stuff.
I want you to go out and enjoy life, man.
You're a superstar.
This is how he enjoys life.
What's wrong with him enjoying life this way?
I guess you're right.
What do you want him to be doing?
That's a good question.
I just want him to like go experience the city, have some food, a few drinks, maybe
gamble a little bit, all that kind of stuff.
You know, you could do that with your wife.
I was drafted to New Orleans.
Right?
Yeah, so I had a, there was a time and a place in my life that I have had that definition
of fun.
You wake up the next morning and it's not as fun as I thought it was.
Right, you're all business man, right?
Been there, done that.
He's a pro bowler.
Back to bowling.
Back to bowling. Back to bowling. as I thought it was. Right, you're all business man, right? Been there, done that. He's a pro bowler.
Back to bowling.
Back to bowling.
Back to bowling.
Who's the quarterback that you haven't sacked
that you're dying to sack?
That's a great question.
Thank you.
Josh Allen.
I've hit him a lot.
He's a centaur, that guy.
Yeah, yeah.
He's an incredible athlete.
I mean, there's places that he was going down
and he's halfway and he gets it out
and they're going for 15, 20 yards.
And it's like, man, on like 80% of the rest of the league,
that's a sack.
The outliers are obviously the Joe Burrows,
the Lamar Jacksons, the guys that are also hard
to take down, but he's a heck of a talent.
Who's the guy, since you've been in the NFL,
that you did sack and you're like, I can't believe't believe I got that guy I'm so excited I got that
guy. I was fortunate to have Drew Brees in New Orleans and obviously when you're
talking about a quarterback like that everybody else just becomes like a
quarterback you know he was such a high character guy he was a leader of elite
men you know and and when you got to see him there was that that's pretty much
the pinnacle of quarterbacks.
And then it's just the guys we're competing against,
and I'm not too, I'm not excited about that.
I'm excited about getting the ball back to that dude,
or obviously Joe Burrow.
What was the biggest change from college to the NFL for you?
People always say that the speed of the game changes.
Some guys say not so much, but I'm interested in what you
thought was the biggest change once you went from college
to the NFL. Definitely, went from college to the NFL.
No, definitely.
From Conference USA to the NFL, speed of the game for sure.
Really?
Knowledge in the playbook also much bigger.
And then also, you know, you have guys that are just massive human beings.
Yes.
At left tackle or right tackle.
And they smell.
Right, yeah.
And they smell.
We got to get them smelling good.
It's a national football league, guys.
Like, come on, what are we doing?
But yeah, no, the size of the tackles is incredible.
Have you met the Old Spice guy yet?
He was wandering around here yesterday.
Oh, yeah, they're great people.
Yeah, well, the guy, the guy from the commercial.
The guy on the floor.
The guy who sits on the center.
He was just wandering around here.
Really?
Yeah, he just stood here and we're like,
well, come on up here.
Because Cam Jordan was up here talking Old Spice, too.
Talked to the Old Spice guy for like 10 minutes.
Thrill of a lifetime.
Wow.
Yeah.
Check box.
Exactly right.
I hope you meet him one day.
I'm going to be honest with you.
That would be a wacky day for him.
That would be.
We're getting wild, guys.
We're getting wild.
Tell your wife.
You'll never believe it.
I love you, man.
I went to New Orleans.
Oh, there he is!
Ah!
Dream 2 come true. There he is. Get back here. Too wild. I went to New Orleans. Oh, there he is! Ah! Dreams do come true.
There he is.
Get back here.
Too wild.
No, this is great.
You say his name and he'll appear.
Did that happen?
It is unbelievable.
While he is moseying his way up here on stage,
who are some of the defensive linemen in the NFL
that you admire, that you love to watch?
Chris Jones is a menace to me.
Obviously, the TJ Watt, watt miles Garrett Max Crosby Aiden
Hutchinson group, you know, you have the Boza brothers
Those are talented players and obviously Vaughn Miller cam Jordan the guys that have been doing it for a long time as well
I respect their games as well
So, you know and even the young guys the development of Joseph O'Shea
He's he's fun to watch and watch him kind of get to work and feel out what it is to be a pro in his opinion. Yeah do you want to ask any
questions here Trey? Yeah listen I don't want you to get out of your comfort zone.
I know this is a lot for you. It's a big day. You have to take a long nap today Trey.
It's going to be fresh don't worry. I feel better now.
OK.
Me too.
Can I start the day by saying I love you?
Hey, I love you.
And I love you.
I love you.
We got those out of the way.
Do you love Trey?
How about Trey?
I love Trey.
Yeah, I'm wearing a shirt.
I gotta get some.
I mean, Trey, you might want to say it back.
So don't go there.
Well, Trey's not certain.
I'll be back.
Good?
Uncoachable.
Uncoachable.
Very insincere.
I'm coachable.
I'm coachable. Exactly. Do you have any questions for Trey?
No, no, no, not today.
Okay, cuz he's complaining about offensive lineman guys on his team who don't smell very good.
Ah, yes, I remember those days.
Do you really?
Fun filled locker room days.
Oh, like.
Do you want to ask a question, Trey? Do you have anything more?
Just because the voice is fantastic.
Well, I have a question for you for Trey.
So Stugatz has politely been calling Trey boring, essentially.
I'm not saying that's a bad thing.
But that's how he's been positioning it, right?
It's not a bad thing.
I don't think you are.
I love the golf. Well, he's been criticizing Trey and saying he should be doing more things as a worldly traveled man such as yourself
What do you think Trey should try to do that? He hasn't done yet?
I mean he looks fit so the the planet thrusts and squats are out
But scaling Mount Everest, I think Scaling Mount Everest would probably be something
that he could add to his bag of tricks.
Well the level we were at was scary movies, so it was just going to scary movies.
Might I add It Chapter 2?
I would say watch that one.
Start with Chapter 1.
Yeah, is there a continuation?
Do you need to, like, for plot purposes,
see chapter one?
No, no, no.
All you need to worry about is the performance
of one young man in chapter two.
He plays Mike Hanlon.
Wonderful actor.
I feel like we might be looking at him right now.
This is fantastic.
Oh, it's so good.
Listen, it's Radio Row Super Bowl.
This is what it's all about.
It's about this right now.
What's going on here and being asleep by 10 o'clock in your
hotel room.
Exactly.
I love it.
That's too late.
Way too late for a slumber.
You're welcome.
All right.
One more time.
I love rhymes with rhymes with lumber, which is wood.
Yeah, we're on it.
Oh, you're the best.
One more time.
Tangle wood.
Yeah, tell us what you're doing with Old Spice Man.
And enjoy the rest of your week.
I know you.
No, I appreciate it.
I think you might.
I don't know.
Total body, dry field deodorant.
It's going to keep you feeling fresh every day.
It keeps the National Football League feeling fresh.
All right, man.
We appreciate it.
Yes.
You like that?
Fresh.
It was good.
I love fresh refs.
Well, I know. Each game, that is. I It was good. I love fresh refs. Well, I know.
Each game, that is.
I know you do.
I don't like to recycle.
They have a responsibility to be.
Exactly.
To smell good.
And to stay fresh with those calls.
You're 100% right.
Enjoy the rest of your week, man.
We appreciate the time.
Thank you.
All right.
