Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. This is the Dunluba Tarshou with the StugatSpotcast. Stugat, you have heard me say that I don't think that I've heard anywhere in sports or sports media the business of sports covered better than it is in the hour the sporting class that John Skipper and David Samson do talking about all sorts of stuff that I think the Darren Reveals of the world and the business community reporters who don't have the expertise of these people at the top of sports, I just think it's all covered very poorly. And one of the places that I think all of this is intersected with something hugely interesting in sports is the way the fighting game has been
Starting point is 00:00:59 fractured as a content industry. Showtime boxing now dies. Boxing has always been King sport in America. If you've got heavyweight champions, that matters. Boxing doesn't matter in this country, the way MMA now matters. The mixed martial arts who have had major mainstream backing after political protests and John McCain saying it's cock fighting. Now sponsored by Disney, Dana White runs the fight game. The dirty, dirty business of fighting, and it's the dirtiest. Like the idea that Dana White as a commissioner would be held in the same esteem as these other people
Starting point is 00:01:36 when what you have to do to be Dana White to win at the fight game, that is the dirtiest in sports. To got to say, it's the toughest. It's where the agents reside. And the boxers and the bodies get bleeped to win at that and be done king for the modern age. Like, there's all sorts of contaminants in there that turn fighters, meet into the machine and underpays them and takes their money. And here comes Inganu, who somehow escaped that machine and said, no, in the fight game brand is what matters. Watch what happens when I control the pay
Starting point is 00:02:13 per view. I'm going to go fight fury and I'm going to turn into a circus event that renders both mixed martial arts and boxing smaller than my brand. Like this guy, and Gano is a bit of a freedom fighter for labor in his sport. Good God, go read about his story. How he got to conquer the fighting game and how much harder that is to do than Dana White conquering the business of this. And he beat him at business too, because now he's free and he's created a fight that people are going to watch and pay to watch. I think the fury is going to embarrass him, but it doesn't matter. He wins just
Starting point is 00:02:46 by producing an event that signifies he's fighting for fighters, for brand management, for independence. It's like a great American story, Tony, the whole thing. And God knows somehow got out from under Dana White's thumb, somehow did it, and now is gonna have a monster event where he competes against Dana White. And you could say getting out from Dana White's thumb was the easiest thing that Francis has done in his life. Like he's escaped Africa through the deserts to try to get to France, he was homeless in France,
Starting point is 00:03:18 started fighting, made his way over to America, and the story lives on. But this fight against Tyson Fury, and we talk about the dirty business of sports is being held in Saudi Arabia where they're gonna pay billions of dollars to make sure that this happens and that this goes great. But when you look at it,
Starting point is 00:03:32 Guna versus Tyson Fury, Tyson's probably one of the greatest heavyweights of all time in boxing. I don't think that's, there's a debate there. And Francis and Guna is the one guy that can stand in front of him with nuclear power in his arms and be able to give him some sort of a fight. But it might be the biggest paper view we see this year in any sport.
Starting point is 00:03:47 I wonder what is the draw of this fight because Tyson Fury also brand managing makes a dock you reality series with Netflix because all of these guys to got to now businessmen who realize that athletes have been underpaid for their economies for a long time. So Tony's get a buy that fight regardless. So buy any fight. I'm kind of, I feel like I'm a good, I'm kind of on the fringes of being interested. It's not interesting to me. It's not a fight.
Starting point is 00:04:15 I'm going to purchase it. Well let's see here because the trailer for this fight and man, we've seen how cool the fighting industry has gotten. I think, man, I think those 24-7s at HBO did was like the beginning of how you show the way a boxer trains for something. You tell me if this promo, this trailer sucks you in Stugatze is the caveman who still wants to talk
Starting point is 00:04:38 about the Rocky movies. Mm-hmm.
A month old. Wow. Boys, what do you say? Who's the... That was great. I mean, and set to an obscure sunny and share song, Bang Bang.
Starting point is 00:06:09 That's what you love most, yeah. That was great. Yeah. If that was a movie, I'd watch it. I mean, Billy, you were unmoved. I was confused as to why there's like a big Hollywood thing if they're not fighting in Hollywood. But aside from that, I mean, not a big...
Starting point is 00:06:21 Two giants are shaking the industry, are shaking streaming. They're about to fight at the center of, man, look, this isn't just a fighting story. It really isn't. Please pay attention to the enganu portions of this because in the labor industries to God's, I'm telling you, the fighting game is the dirtiest.
Starting point is 00:06:44 The dirtiest for this guy to come out and create this spectacle i just hope he doesn't get his ass kicked because i would like people are going to make fun of him he's already one getting to that getting to what ufc would not do for him there stugots because they did not do that they they were not interested in selling him unless he was totally under contract for ten more years of superfights that would have limited his ability to actually have the freedom to create that but if just getting there is early winning why are you concerned
Starting point is 00:07:15 about him actually winning like because i think people laugh i think people will laugh at him the moment that i mean i think tight man look. Did you hear what Tony just said? Tyson Fury by any metric measurement go look at the glitch go numbers so that you understand what came before him. How unbeatable this person is in the modern age because he's a weird fighter that descends from street fighting gypsies for a hundred years like any fights awkwardly and no one knows how to beat him and also when Deante Wilder was the biggest punch in the game. Nox amount he gets up from it like the Undertaker. And you're like, what the bleep was that?
Starting point is 00:07:48 That's straight out of Brad Pitt in snatch. Like, what is that? How did he just get up from that? It's the biggest punch in the history of the sport. It's the biggest puncher, Deonte Wilder, against one of the biggest boxers every 6'9'270 pounds. Right? And you're looking at Ingun who's like 6'4'270, but he has five inches over him.
Starting point is 00:08:06 And Ingana during the face, I was like, yeah, he kind of looks flabby, but don't let that fool you like he's a horse. One would assume that Ingana will not be able to get that close to a professional boxer because he's not a professional boxer. He is a mixed martial artist. One of the things I love about that part
Starting point is 00:08:20 of the combat sports is the arts in it is, what do you best at? Do I have to keep you on your feet I if I get you to the ground and I also scared of you there the fact that he has to stand up and fight Tyson fury I don't think Boads any kind of chance and probably ends his career where no one's gonna want to see a second fight Maybe but the thing is it's that that power that he has in his hands and because if he catches Tyson fury Now that he's gonna knock him out But if he pops him one good time,
Starting point is 00:08:45 something that we didn't see in Mayweather versus McGregor, right? We never saw McGregor really touch Mayweather. If Tyson is kind of back on his heels, and Gano can get one off. You guys, Mike, you think in Gano has any kind of... I mean, getting one punch, watching a fight because one guy might be able to land one punch. But if you're Tyson, you have to be smarter.
Starting point is 00:09:03 You have to carry him. If you think you can beat him and knock him out, you have to carry him, make it appear closer than it actually was and get the second fight. That's how you do it. That's business. He won already. Fury and Ghanu both won by getting paid to do this.
Starting point is 00:09:18 And people will tune in. I don't think I will, but people will tune in to see the spectacle. And a trailer certainly made it seem interesting. These two guys know how to celebrate, but it's a spectacle. And they've already won by just getting someone to pay them as much money as they already have to put this thing on. Francis will make more in this fight than he has in his entire fighting career as a champion. Well, that's the part, right? That's,
Starting point is 00:09:41 to me, that's the why I keep saying that he's a freedom fighter because it is so hard to get out of the thicket of that game, Stugat's. Don King would put a million dollars in a suitcase in front of Muhammad Ali and Ali would get suckered by it thinking he was getting rich when the contracts he was signing were exploitation of the highest order. Should have been a lot more than a million. This is where we are now with mixed martial arts though, where I don't know how you recreate starting your own fighting league. I just don't think that people understand Tony.
Starting point is 00:10:14 The achievement it is for this guy to extract himself from what was gonna be the promise of Dana White saying, you'll fight John Jones, you'll have some super fights, but I'm keeping your rights for the next 10 years And then God knows saying no, I'm not doing it that way. I'm gonna make money for me if I'm going to expose my body to this The money's going to be made for me not for you and Francis was on with Joe Rogan a couple of weeks ago We were talking about the super fight and some of the stuff on the back end of the deal where the UFC was extending Francis every time He had an injury they would extend his contract six months, but not book him on a fight. So they would just like, in perpetuity, just extending his contract without booking him
Starting point is 00:10:51 a fight, they told him John Jones, they told him steep, they told him on these things. And then at the end of the day, he was like, yeah, we're not going to book it until you sign that next fight that has like another 10 fights on it. I know this drives you crazy. You care about the stories behind the athletes, especially in fighting, Dan.'t they just they just want a good fight like tell me I'm going to get a good fight okay okay giant black guy against giant white guy go ahead that's always worked in boxing like go ahead do it that way then if you want to just make it the circus oh and got oh he's a bit of a mystery got out from Dana white and he's a monster everyone
Starting point is 00:11:20 fears him no one physically no one in mixed martial arts was enough man for him. Okay, I can sell that. But today, yes, I'll sell it that way. Just Tyson Fury is hard to get behind. He's got his charisma's, but he's also got a whole lot of shit there that's unpleasant. You used to cover some big time heavyweight boxing fights and I did grow up in that.
Starting point is 00:11:42 And I love the documentary when we were kings and the golden era of heavyweight boxing. It is kind of disappointing to see what boxing has become now in terms of getting mainstream interest. That it takes the, it's celebrity. It's Jake Paul, it's Floyd versus McGregor, it's Senghanu versus Tyson Fury and I just wish that this sport would actually have something that feels this big with actual boxers. The problem is it can't because there's so many different divisions and so many different belts that are owned by these companies and it's impossible to bring it under one roof
Starting point is 00:12:12 to mainstream. Greg? Like soccer boxing's dead. Don't live a tart. That bear was not on house death. Deck. Excuse me. I was gonna say desk I meant deck. I botched it terrible two dollars That don't debucks two minutes
Starting point is 00:12:33 See it home for the day walk to the ocean. What do you want me to do? Superbowl wait then I didn't ask for any of this and I have no money Aqua still got walked to the ocean. I walked to the ocean I really have no money get out of here get out of here. I I have no money. Aqua? Stugats. Walk to the ocean. I- Why? Walk to the ocean. I really have no money. Get out of here. Get out of here. I'll do the show without you.
Starting point is 00:12:50 I don't like this. DCC Don Limita's show with this Stugats. [♪ OUTRO MUSIC PLAYING [♪ Mike Ryan, what birthday is this for Tony Khan? Is it 41st, happy 41st birthday, wrestling, emprasario, and Jacksonville Jags Apologist, Tony Khan? Happy birthday to him. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Good luck. Thank you. I really appreciate it. Thank you guys. Thanks for having me on today. Wanted to talk to you because people have been paying attention for a long time saw you build this business out of nowhere. You promised everyone what you were going to do.
Starting point is 00:13:32 You told them what you were going to do and you built a legitimately competing wrestling company right now that goes after the top spot in the fight game. This week you have a genuine wrestling ratings war. When's the last time that give me in this country the last time that we had a genuine week that made an appearance where you're putting out your best card because you need to win a good old-fashioned wrestling ratings war this week. It's been a while and it's very exciting to have the head-to-head competition tonight with AEW Dynamite on TVS. It's a big deal for
Starting point is 00:14:06 us because normally the show is on Wednesday. We got time shifted to Tuesday this week and it means a big competition and we've loaded up the show on TVS tonight with our best matches. I think it's going to be amazing. I even got TVS to go commercial free for at least the first 30 minutes, which is on the hurdle for us at Dynamite on TBS. So it's pretty cool. You were insistent on winning this ratings war. You are doing you are pulling all the stops because you're going head to head and you insist on winning tonight. Commercial tonight on TBS. It's title Tuesday. I can't even imagine how much is going to be in that first half hour. How much are you going to
Starting point is 00:14:43 stuff into the first half hour of that commercial free? A lot, a lot of great stuff. And I may even go more than a half hour. We're just going to have a good time. TBS has been very cool. It's going to be a great night of wrestling. I really appreciate you guys having me on,
Starting point is 00:14:58 giving me a chance to plug that we're on Tuesday night tonight on TBS. Tony, how'd you do that? Convince them to go commercial free for a half hour? They're partners, right? You said at the beginning, you wanted them as genuine real partners. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:15:11 They've been great partners to us. They've been very kind. And really the new management at TBS has been more supportive than ever before. It's really exciting. They've helped us expand our calendar. We have three shows now. And they've given us tons of backing. We have three shows now and they've given
Starting point is 00:15:25 us tons of backing for this big show tonight on CBS, the AEW title Tuesday Dynamite. You know, there's some big fans of yours at Warner Brothers Discovery also. It's really great to be able to come here and plug the show and I have to say I would love to have you guys in that Warner Brothers Discovery family. Wouldn't that be great? We could just do this every week. All right, we'll get to work on that. Everyone around God bless. Football's about that. Yeah, wants to make a deal. I, I'm most curious as you had into this evening because you're not someone who's ever afraid to tell us what he thinks. Did you expect when you took on the responsibility of this job, did you foresee the unpleasantness of I'm going to be drowning in death threats one day because
Starting point is 00:16:13 of the decisions I have made? Is that something that you expected? Not really, but I think it's great. Really, to be honest, I think the, yeah, the rank core of sports fans is across all sports. And it's something I've seen in football, in the NFL, you see it in football on the Premier League. And for us, it's a great thing that we have passionate fans that really care about AEW, that really get excited about the shows. I love it. And our fans are really supportive. We're on our best run of major events we've ever done. You know, recently we set the all-time record, the world record for ticket sales, for any wrestling event ever. We've done all kinds of unprecedented things since we started
Starting point is 00:16:56 this business. And might I add, the first ever AEW TV contract I ever signed, I actually did it in your old office at the Cleveland or after you had me on the show. So we go way back and your show has been a great home to me for many, many years. Tony, you mentioned threats from fans and you also mentioned the great show at Wembley that I was in attendance for. I do agree that you've had a really great run lately, but there have been moving. I'm going to be moving. But there have been those in the media. Dave Meltzer recently said AEW is running cold.
Starting point is 00:17:30 I know that attendance is now all of a sudden fodder for memes. You've brought in Adam Copeland from WWE. There is a sense that with Jade going to WWE, there's a lot of positive momentum there. How can you change perception right now? Well, I think we've really begun to change it. I think the perception is very strong for AEW worldwide. Like I said, we're 44 days ago. We set the all-time record for ticket sales, for any wrestling show ever in the history
Starting point is 00:18:01 of the planet. So we're having a very good year. Our pay-per-view numbers are through the roof. And we're gonna have a great show tonight on TVS. I think the fans are really behind what we're doing. People really are mobilized behind this lineup. And I have to say, I've seen more positive, more positive feedback about AEW in the last 24 hours.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Then I had in several weeks and that's saying a lot because we've had a lot of huge shows in the last 24 hours, then I had in several weeks. And that's saying a lot because we've had a lot of you chosen the last several weeks. There's a lot of things that have come across your way that maybe you weren't fully prepared for when you went down this venture, the managing of people and personality dynamics. At that show, you guys managed to put on the biggest show in wrestling history at Wembley Stadium,
Starting point is 00:18:42 but you were dealing with a nightmare scenario backstage as one of your performers got into a fight with another one of your performers. You've come out and publicly said something happened back there where you feared for your life, and this is all surrounding Filnite, aka CM Punk, who's now no longer with the company. I know that there's a lot of specifics that maybe you can't get into. No, get into this specific. I want to talk about the managing that scenario. It flashing before your eyes.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Oh my God, this is happening right now. And having to put on a show as one of your top performers, top build performers, a star that was on all the marquees has lunged towards you in a threatening manner. Well, I don't really want to talk about it, but I will say that I was really glad that the event came out as one of the best shows I've ever seen in pro wrestling. It was over 81,000 tickets sold, 81,000 and 35 tickets exactly. And the crowd was amazing.
Starting point is 00:19:37 The show was amazing. And the wrestling was amazing. Everybody who wrestled on the show from start to finish did a great job. The fans were behind it. It was one of the biggest pay reviews we've ever done. And we set huge milestones. Really, that this company is all about. That really when AEW began, it began as a love letter to pro wrestling for the fans. We had never gone to Europe and down a show. We debuted there with one of the biggest wrestling events
Starting point is 00:20:05 in the history of the world. And yes, it was a challenging day backstage without getting into this specifics. It was a hard day, but when the show was over, I think we were all really proud. And everybody held their head high that this is one of the best wrestling shows anybody's ever done. And AEW were the ones that did it.
Starting point is 00:20:21 It's a big deal. And now we have this show tonight. The whole company's really rallying around the people wrestling on tonight's show. I think tonight on TBS, you're going to see AEW at our very, very best. And yes, I am glad that you enjoyed the show. I thought it was a great show, but you're right. It was a hard day. It was hard to get to that point. And thankfully it came out as a great show. I'm gonna tag in Dan real quick so he can actually get the real news making answer
Starting point is 00:20:49 after I apologize for making CM punk the inventor of Nike. That's a five. A punk move by Tony, he asked you a question and you've been at the fight game a long time. A total non-answer at the beginning and then just unrelenting promotion because you're a dirty fight game promoter and you didn't come close.
Starting point is 00:21:06 You know there's a lot, there's people doing a lot worse stuff in the fight game than you're right Tony. No, no, it's bullshit. It's a bullshit. It's a bunch of people. No, that was bullshit. There's something happen. I want to know.
Starting point is 00:21:17 What happened back then? What happened back there? What happened? Don't tell him, don't give us. Bill, I broke the tack you. I can't talk about it. What is that? I came on, you came on and I'm like this guy always answers the questions. You can't talk about it. What is that? You're I came on you came on
Starting point is 00:21:25 I'm like this guy always answers the question. You said you feared for your life You promoted this thing a couple of different times. All right. You got your promotion on it's tonight You got a rating on glue to title Tuesday give me some of the good Did he throw a punch at what happened back there? I? Have not Really gone out and discussed that publicly beyond what I said in Chicago I had to make a really hard decision after what happened and I really appreciate all the fans standing by us in supporting AEW through this and we're having a huge
Starting point is 00:21:54 show tonight and like I said I am promoting tonight's show but I also am not saying anything that I haven't said before. That's what you said. We're special We want us to whisper I thought he's stay strong Did he punch you with the left or right hand? Did he make contact?
Starting point is 00:22:09 You haven't said before Did you need an ice pack? You're not understand how promotion works We don't want the same things you've said before We want a little bit extra Just give us a little something Who wins tonight? Well, that's a good question about a man
Starting point is 00:22:22 David Billy, he was getting there I really appreciate you giving me that out. He said, okay, come on, left to right hand. What did you punch you with? Guys, what happened back there was a really hard day for a lot of people. And I don't want to make light of it because it was a really challenging circumstance. It was one of the most incredible things I've been through in wrestling.
Starting point is 00:22:47 It was a really hard day at the office for a lot of people. And the amazing thing is that we still came through and put a great show out under what were really challenging circumstances. And for the fans there, including you, Mike, because there's people that traveled from all over the world to come see this show, it was really important to every single person, everybody back there, to get it together and have our best show. And we did it.
Starting point is 00:23:10 You know what I like to do after a hard day at work? Sometimes I like to talk about it. Talk it out, relive some of the events, maybe go low by blow, and really have my friends lift me up. Not just that's what we are. Get it on friends. Come on. Have you give us a nugget?
Starting point is 00:23:27 Guys, I really think that, you know, we got the term buckle right now. The reps, we got, we got to tell you count of five. Recept four. I'll give you what you want. Tonight on TBS. Wrestling promoters, they're not talking about these kinds of backstage incidents believe me not talking about this thing would be the
Starting point is 00:23:51 least of a wrestling promoters miss tonight on tbs it is titled to is a shot of inspec man i get it it is the is it indeed the most dangerous situation you've ever found yourself in backstage yes or no. Oh, without a doubt, without a doubt, 100 percent yes. Did you indeed fear for your life or was that performative? Yeah, I was scared as hell for a moment there. Do you want to talk about it? No, no, I really don't. I don't want to talk about tonight.
Starting point is 00:24:17 Go Jags. Hey, big win. I don't want to talk about that. Big win for the Jags. See you later, Tony. Tonight on TV, as it is titled Tuesday, a before AEW dynamite at 8 p.m. Eastern is the buy-in at 7.30 Eastern. First half hour at least is commercial free, at least.
Starting point is 00:24:34 There is more there. Tony, you're promising us more than 30 minutes commercial free. Are you breaking that news right here? 32 minutes. I'm gonna try to push it. I'm gonna try and go a bit over 30 minutes. I'll go as far as they're gonna let me go. I love to push it. I'm gonna try and go a bit over 30 minutes I'll go as far as they're gonna let me go animal I love to push I love to push the envelope, and I wish I could give you guys everything you want to hear today
Starting point is 00:24:52 And I was you can you could break it You could you're charge of the company you can just give me one detail You can't see us you're the boss when stew gots is the voice of reason there You know that I have you. That's not a comfortable. Terrible. Well, I like how. One water brothers. A good later toning. My guys, thanks for having me on. Don Lebertard.
Starting point is 00:25:17 Oh, I think Larry Fitzgerald's on the green right there. Stu gots. That's how fun's a repair. Oh, no. How do you think that they are the son to be fair alfonso repair as a great ass this is the down lebertar show with the stugats
Starting point is 00:25:38 Greg Cody has promised me that he is maximum ready for our two i have accused him the last couple of weeks of losing stamina, spewing gibberish. Mike Ryan claimed it was the worst take he has ever had on messy and then the next day or the next hour he came on and made a backpack reference. None of us understood. He was lost in the show. It reminded me of the day he came and drugged up and got confused by the lights honestly. So he is promising me right now. Our two is going to come with maximum effort and
Starting point is 00:26:10 maximum possibility from Greg code. I got energy out the ass. I really do. It was unnecessary for it to be in perfect. That's a lot of effort there to begin with. I mean, you know, you got to explain yourself. I have Stugots legitimately fired up about a couple of sports issues. It's rare that Stugots gets genuinely worked up about the, anything other than the firing of people or the criticize of people. The joy of sports Stugots is now taken on his role totally as just professional critic who finds the ways to feed off of athletes, misbehaving or doing poorly so he can criticize them.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Thank you. But he cares legitimately about a couple of sports things. For some reason, he can't stop talking about A-chan, the dolphin's running back. He's incredible. You're just, yes, he's very fast. He's out for a couple of weeks. The dolphins have a nice little stretch coming up here. They have Carolina at home.
Starting point is 00:27:02 That's an easy one, but then they have the Eagles. And I want A- chain available for that gay. A chain. He changed his name. Are you trying to remind everyone how to pronounce it? It was originally a chain and now it is a chance. Greg and I were talking about how important what a difference maker he has been for the dolphins in this offense.
Starting point is 00:27:18 He's averaging 12 yards of carry. 12. He's second in the league in rushing on 38 carries. It's incredible. The way he sets up his blocks, the patience, the speed, it's fun to watch the dolphins are fun to watch their beautiful. He's doing something in that huddle that most dirt hasn't even though he has all of that speed for whatever the reason is. You're not used to. Most dirt is just as fast, allegedly clocked in the same sort of rain straight line speed up but you rarely find it seventy five yards down the sidelines oh shit they can score in one play they
Starting point is 00:27:52 can do that on a running play they have that kind of running back now it's not something that the dolphins uh... have had uh... since ricky williams yeah that this is the best dolphins offense ever and I say that having covered Dan Moreno with the Marks Brothers and they were all over the field setting passing records This is a more balanced offense because of a Chan and and most dirt and their speed they have a balanced offense Now they can run and and they've never had at the same time a great passing game and a great running game They just haven't. Back when they were winning championships it was all running. In the marino era it was all passing and now
Starting point is 00:28:31 they actually have a dynamic offense that can win both ways. And that team speed, a Chan and Tyree Kill both claimed as a fastest player on the team. And when you factor in most dirt and and and Jalen Waddles the fourth fastest guy on this team he would be the fastest guy on ninety percent of the rosters they have the eight fastest timed speeds in the NFL this year on one team little did a chance and tyrie kill know that the fastest guy might be a white corner out of sandstorms stunning we haven't covered it enough we need to get that guy on that i need it because i'm so tired of these guys talking about who's the fastest who's's the fastest, and someone escaped our intention entirely. A chance is also the reason running backs are never going to get paid.
Starting point is 00:29:11 Because B. John Robinson was the big rookie coming out of the draft. The Falcons took him in the first round, I think. This guy has more yards than B. John Robinson does on 30 fewer carries. Like, Dan, he's incredible. Running backs are never gonna get paid as long as you can get an H. Ann in the fourth round to the NFL draft. I'm sure B. John Robinson would look exactly
Starting point is 00:29:33 like H. Ann in this offense. I'm certain of that. No, are you? Hmm. That wouldn't be too sure. Yeah. Are you guys not aware of how good that guy is? Are you not aware?
Starting point is 00:29:44 Is he as fast? Beigeon Robinson can. He only does different things. Right. Just like a Chan is nowhere near a shifty. Right, but this is an offense built on speed, on movement, on a Chan getting the ball in mid-stride. And that's his speed.
Starting point is 00:30:00 The speed of the Dolphins offense is what makes the whole thing work. I'm not sure if that's totally interchangeable. If you put a lesser speedy guy in the office. To be fair, the blocking on the outside is what makes it work. It's why they moved on from arguably the greatest tight end in franchise history when you look at the numbers and the zone running scheme. Yeah, it helps if you have a world beater. They definitely did a great job in a massive,
Starting point is 00:30:25 very fast talent, but for 40 years of sample, when it comes to running backs in this offense, Alfred Morris had a pretty good year inside this offense, and he's way slower. Mike, by larger point is you can get similar production in the third or fourth round as you're getting in the first round at that position. I get an exact mosses second, his third in the is third in the league of the conversation you can have a
Starting point is 00:30:47 about running backs it's certainly a conversation that you can have about running backs inside the zone blocking scheme of the shane and family can you guys and maybe Greg Cody can give me some assistance here I want to make a plug here for Pablo Torrey show Pablo Tori finds out he's really doing some different stuff in the space. If you have not heard this podcast, it's a lot different than most, well, I'm going to say everything that you will find in sports. I'll take your word on it. And one of the things, well, you were on it. You were featured in an episode. Well, it would not be surprising that you say you were because it's talking about your marijuana
Starting point is 00:31:22 habits during sporting events, which evidently make you not only forgetful but also it should render some of your analysis hazy at best because listen to Pablo Tore finding out something we haven't in many many years around here the exact details in stugots is NFL observations. Here's another friend that I want to put on the record here. Hey, Pablo, it's two guys on a mobile phone. A listener of yours asked for the THC cannabis consumption habits for people on our staff to, you know, for sporting events. Here's what I could tell you. If it's a weeknight event, it's a 9 o'clock store or 8 o'clock store.
Starting point is 00:32:02 I usually take a gummy 90 minutes before the start of the game. And then right at the start of the game just to make the gummy land perfectly, I follow it up, right at tip off with a bonkit. And then everything kicks in at once. On Sundays when I'm watching the NFL, no gummies. I just ripped bonkheads from the second, the one o'clock game start until the second the Sunday night game is over. BONG HITS. Brown of it.
Starting point is 00:32:32 What are you doing? College? Another one with that. Oh, sorry. You matured. Old school, old school stugants ripping bonkheads all weekend from noon to the Sunday night game.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Got the girls out of the house, Dan O. I mean, they're in college. And did you get the Bungh is back out? Bungh in it. Have you been freed by the pioneering Mad Dog Russo, who now talks publicly about eating gummies? So now you feel, how have you hidden this from us all of these years? I haven't been exactly hiding it, Dan. What's he hiding exactly? Oh,
Starting point is 00:33:07 boo. Steven's A list of five game over. Oh, wow. Sorry, back to the show. Steven's A list now puts the dolphins at number five. Hey, all you want to do is be on there. All right, you want to be in the conversation right on there. We're back. Well, I feel like you were number one a couple of weeks ago, and that's where you wanted them. We were off Now we're back. You don't want to be five because that just kind of kills all of the Speaking of number one the Keynes were number one last week in the BCS standings and this week the new BC BCS standings have come out and the Keynes are not even in the top 25. I wanted to get to this because I believe I believe that Mike Ryan everyone is doing the same damn things around this Mario crystal ball story. But Mike Ryan has a piece of information, a piece of nitpicking that I believe you will find it no other
Starting point is 00:33:58 trough in America. We playing let's nitpick. This is, yes we are. Can you help me? Because Mike Ryan needs some help here. Everyone's saying the same things. No one's got original content. But my grind here has the largest lament of the loser you will ever hear with something at the trough that I don't believe I've heard anywhere in all of the coverage of this international incident, this Cuban timeout crisis in Miami.
Starting point is 00:34:24 Tired. He didn't actually fumble. incident, this Cuban, Cuban timeout crisis in Miami. Tired. He didn't actually fumble. And the review was terrible. Wired. The Georgia tech receiver should have been ruled down at the one because he initiated his slide before the end zone. Two seasons ago, the NCAA in response to the ACC championship where Kenny Pickett had one of the greatest runs ever where he faked a slide, implemented the Kenny Pickett had one of the greatest runs ever where he faked a slide, implemented the Kenny Pickett rule. There you see, Plain is Day, a wide receiver initiating the slide before the end zone. I arrest my case. I think once your coach decided not to take a knee, the referee stopped officiating.
Starting point is 00:34:57 No shit. They were leaving. No shit. Like, they lost. They should have knelt. They turned a win into a loss. That doesn't absolve the ACC from, look, that would have been a bullshit way to end the game. I know technically that's what I would have been even better, but that would have been hilarious.
Starting point is 00:35:11 It would have been even better. It would have been hilarious because then we're taking now, Chris, all in the kid are both idiots. No, touch on right. They out in it. Who's the bigger idiot? It's right. It would have been my father for everybody.
Starting point is 00:35:23 That was tough. What you were about to say. How idiot-tid. The 49ers are number one on Stephen's A-Lis. Yes, deserved. Ryan's at four. He goes number two, Chiefs number three, and non-God bless football guest Dan Campbell.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Lions at four. At number four ahead of, oh, look, they've outraged. The dolphin homerag up. Dolphin homer, look at woke him up look at go ahead i mean steven a what are you doing if the if that if the dolphins and lions played on a neutral field my amie would be clearly favored there's no question about that they'll be favored by at least four points
Starting point is 00:36:00 mhm it's at i don't know i don't know at least four points i mean let's not get carried. You buy it down to three and a half, right? You know, you take the half point at that point. But yeah, am I wrong? Am I the only one who thinks it's ridiculous? You're a homer.
Starting point is 00:36:17 You're a homer. You're a homer. You're a homer. You're a homer. I'm being a homer, such a bad look. I'm not a homer. The show is how I'm honest. I'm honest. I'm honest. I'm honest. I'm not a homer. The show is how I'm honest. I'm honest. I tell it how it is. I do.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Having said that, just too impartial, dude, it's cutting it up, a realist. I am impartial. Rounded in reality. I do a football pod. I see a homer might have pointed out that after the kickoff return against Duke, the ACC put out a bunch of statements and suspended officials because of the national tragedy that was Miami winning a questionably-efficient game. And now that the dead silence is there, well, that's just fair, not weird at all.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Zegaki. Let's name it. You said it. Thank you. I mean, I live in South Florida. Why wouldn't I wish well? Mary, at least you admitted it. Finally, finally, in a mission.
Starting point is 00:37:06 There it is. I like writing.
