Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. Hamburglar, why are you calling? Rubble, rubble. McDonald's has a new biggest burger called Big Arch, made with two 100% Canadian beef patties, a new delicious sauce, and all the McDonald's flavors you love, and... Wait, you want me to help you get it? Rubble!
Starting point is 00:00:27 Come on. Compared to beef burgers on McDonald's current menu at participating restaurants in Canada. Your teen requested a ride, but this time, not from you. It's through their Uber Teen account. It's an Uber account that allows your teen to request a ride, but this time not from you. It's through their Uber Teen account. It's an Uber account that allows your teen to request a ride under your supervision with live trip tracking and highly rated drivers.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Add your teen to your Uber account today. This is the Don Leventor Show with the Stoogats Podcast. It's two guys podcast. Chris in the break was all flustered and all like. He was. He was huffing and puffing. I said, what's wrong with you, man? He's like, I want to talk about Mike White. You didn't see this?
Starting point is 00:01:17 I just like, is this dude even in the league? He's on a practice squad. He was with the Dolphins. He was fighting for this backup with Skyler Thompson. Mike White has a bigger contract than Skyler Thompson, so the Dolphins just made the decision, we're gonna keep the cheaper guy. So they let Mike White go.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Some were expecting him to clear waivers and come back and be like our third string for cheaper. But someone picked him up for their practice squad. Imagine that, the Buffalo Bills. And look, I get this from the Buffalo Bills perspective. Hey, this guy knows the entire playbook for our biggest rival, let's bring him in. But if you're Mike White, do you play ball?
Starting point is 00:01:53 It's like you've been friends, like there's no like, there's no relationships here. Like you're just like, oh Bills, I've hated you for a year because I've been on the Dolphins, but I'm just gonna, oh come right over. Here's all of our signals. Here's all of our signals. Here's all of our signals. I know you're using me.
Starting point is 00:02:09 If I'm like White, I'm like, I better be on the 53-man roster, or I better get double the practice salary, the practice squad salary, because I know why you're bringing me in here. Chris, you said he's from South Florida, right? What if he's a double agent? The Dolphins cut him.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Sabotage him. Wow, it's a jump. Knowing that the Bills now need a backup. Cause I think Mitch Trabisky, did Mitch Trabisky get hurt in the preseason, Tony? So they need a backup. Just telling all the wrong signals. They need a backup. So they pick up Mike White. He's going to either lie or he might steal
Starting point is 00:02:40 some of Buffalo's signals and send them back to Miami. Maybe he's just a double agent. Like, Miami may have planned this all along. Guys, if I get let go from here, and I end up in the practice squad for Pat McAfee, I'm not giving up all the goods. I've developed relationships with all you people. You think I'm just gonna go in and tell Pat McAfee
Starting point is 00:02:59 everything about Stugats, all his secrets? No, you leave here and you intern for the Pat McAfee show? I'm just saying. You know, I'm career choice. I would obviously hope so. But you wouldn't give away the secrets is what you're saying. I would aim a little higher.
Starting point is 00:03:09 I'm just doing a hypothetical here. Okay, but you wouldn't give away the secrets to Pat. Hold on, I would at least, I would know, okay, you're bringing me in clearly to see how the Levitard sausage is made here. So I'm gonna negotiate that. I'm gonna be like, pay me double the practice squad guy. Give me a guarantee that I'll be on, like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:23 I'm just not. But you're a starter here, Chris. You're a starter on this team. I'm just trying to find an example in our situation. It's true, but to Jess's point, what if we sent Chris to the McAfee show to tell them. Or Dan Patrick. Or Dan Patrick.
Starting point is 00:03:35 To give him bad ideas. Bad ideas. And then he'd just get to do what he's doing right now. Okay. If there was a head coach I could think of in the NFL that would try to deploy this strategy, it would be Mike McDaniel. So what do you have to slide,
Starting point is 00:03:47 like if you're someone at the Dolphins, you slide Mike White like a million dollar check under the table and you just say, here's a million. Someone from the Dolphins has to tell McDaniel, listen, we know the Bills will sign them if you release them, we know it, we know it. And then you release them and then Mike White joins the Bills,
Starting point is 00:04:03 but you're paying Mike White, the Dolphins hard to be on the Buffalo Bills I just know that first practice if I'm Mike White, I'm not W juice. I'm not playing ball I'm kind of sitting back like oh like I'll tell I'll talk to you guys in a little bit I'm not like first day. I'm not giving up all that. I got to read the vibes I gotta see make sure I'm gonna be here a while Did you bring me here just for this like I gotta figure it out You haven't being interrogated like in the Kremlin or something like hey give us all the goods right now I just have him walking into that first quarterback meeting and sitting back like I'm not gonna say much this first practice
Starting point is 00:04:32 Okay, so first of all if he's supposed to be the guy that you Signed to give info you wouldn't have him in the quarterbacks room. You'd have him with the defense That's true. That's like saying all the signals. Him telling Josh Allen, hey, by the way, this is what Tua likes to do. Like that's not. Now you're just, if I'm like that, if they tell me, hey, by the way, you're in the wrong meeting room, you're supposed to be in the defense
Starting point is 00:04:52 telling us all the dolphin signals. I'm like, screw you guys. But you know how much Mike White. They're paying you. You know. What the, peanuts. You guys know, no. He's just saying he would dip his toe in the water
Starting point is 00:05:01 just to get a vibe. Just to see what's going on there. I feel like I would not, if I'm Mike White, because you would agree, I think Mike White, isn't he like, is he upper echelon back up? No? I guess not, I mean he just got cut. I feel like if I'm Mike White,
Starting point is 00:05:13 I'm not just gonna take this pity, I want all the information job. Like I'm gonna actually look for someone who actually wants me for me. Mike White just got cut, but he did get guaranteed at signing four and a half million dollars when he signed his two-year eight million dollar deal. Like I kind of feel like is a milli worth like just ruining your reputation? And living in Buffalo. It's not just a milli though,
Starting point is 00:05:35 it's if he's really spying on behalf of the Dolphins, he's getting whatever deal they cut him, but also a share of whatever the Super Bowl winnings are a share of glory he might get a ring There's some there's something going on here. I'm with Chris. This is very fishy It sounds something's going on and if you're a good spy you go in there And you give them the first thing you say give them a good piece of information give them something accurate So they know you're serious. They know you're good. Yeah, and they'll use it and they'll say all right He's on our side. And then everything else from that on out is bullshit. Once they figure out that he's a double agent, it gets real uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Perhaps even sui award winning uncomfortable. It's the suis for most uncomfortable moment. And now the sui nominees for most uncomfortable moment. Greg gets upset about a picture of a mostly naked man that is definitely probably not him. Because I wrote Greg Cody's forward to a book that he's publishing. And he read that forward and was moved by it. He then allowed me to run the photo after enough is enough of him in New Orleans
Starting point is 00:06:47 drinking too much during Mardi Gras. Okay, I allowed you to run it to make fun of it, not thinking that you would say that it's me when it isn't me. Okay, when I- He gets so serious about it. Because it's ridiculous. Because I don't want anyone to think that's actually
Starting point is 00:07:05 me and for him to say that it is, that's what makes me mad. I agreed to let you use that ridiculous photo to make fun of the photo, but to actually say that it's me is absurd. It's an insult to me. It's embarrassing. You're a Miller Lite drinker. You'd never have a drink like that. It's embarrassing to me. All right, Brandon Tierney confronts Stu Gotts about WFAN. Do I love him coming in here all the time talking about other people's jobs? No, you're right. I don't you're right. I don't I agree with you and And you know that that needs to be said. Yes, you know, we're covered on our turf You're right and being so free with people's jobs
Starting point is 00:07:45 Yes, somebody's got to speak up and defend the station Mike Ryan wants a means dream Doing their own thing. I'm trying to produce a goddamn show over here. No one's listening. What's no one's listening? We'll do it live. No one's listening Four minutes now give me the dream. He's got a good point here. Just give me the dream. Let's move on Give me the dream trying to do a show here You're going eclipse that I said we're good enough for the show you're just doing your own thing Just give me the shitty dream Let's move on and get to Kyle Brandt.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Dan LeVittar leaks Taylor's Roy Williams story. Taylor told me a story when I came in today about an embarrassment that he had that he called his greatest embarrassment as a human being. Hmm. In which he accidentally texted University of North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams an assortment of replacements that he thought should replace Roy Williams when he retired because he should retire. He didn't mean to send that directly to Roy Williams.
Starting point is 00:09:07 He also didn't mean for that story to make air. Yep. He mentioned that. Oh, I didn't hear that. On the front end. I didn't even hear that. I didn't even hear that part. How convenient.
Starting point is 00:09:16 I didn't hear it. Leaky faucetard. He has Roy's number, huh? Can you guys help him? Did Roy respond? Can you guys? Can you guys help him? Did Roy respond? Can you guys help him? We tried, we said don't look at Dan in the eyes, don't talk to him and he broke that rule So he had it coming
Starting point is 00:09:33 Deshaun Foster's introductory press conference at UCLA It's us and USC We um. Wow. And in closing. Jeets. I'm just basically excited. That's it. Any questions? Oh God, that was hard to watch. Greg discovers fisting. Hold your breath here.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Fisting, also known as fist-f***ing, handballing, is a sexual activity that involves inserting one or more Or someone Free hats Our entire interview with the sex therapist. Do you know what the perineum is? The gooch, the taint? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Okay, wait, follow up question for a friend. Not your balls. Yes, yes. Follow up for a friend, is that the same as the grundle or is that different? April, you mentioned the clitoris. Asking for a friend, how does one find that? My issue is that I have a hard time waiting the time it takes to pleasure a woman because I can be much faster and I've got other stuff I want to be doing.
Starting point is 00:11:16 So my issue is what is the way without thinking of your grandmother to make it last longer? Okay. David Sampson asks Pablo Tori if he has a cock ring. I think she told David Sampson to buy a cock ring. She did. Yeah. You have that? All right, count us in for post game, guys.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Five, four, three, two, one. So as you might imagine, we are very mature and in no way have been having a side private conversation about the conversation we just had. David Samson just asked me if I have a cock-rick. Is that a private, is that a personal question? Dan makes it weird talking about Adam Schefter's mom. Is Meena gonna talk to Adam Schefter's mom this week?
Starting point is 00:11:58 I don't think so. I did not say that God Bless Football was not. I met her in an elevator on a cruise ship. Small world. Where else are you getting that information? Exactly right. I talked to an insider's insider. I did not say that God Bless.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Well, he was inside her. Hmm. Dan. Whoa. Dan. Oh yeah. She gave birth to him. Dan.
Starting point is 00:12:22 You're there, Dan. Dan. It's. Oh wow. Breaking news? Great timing. Dan Lebatard ruins Amin Elhassan's wizard's story. For those who don't know, I walked around the entire arena yesterday showing people this
Starting point is 00:12:37 clip because it's amazing. It's true, he did. So the Hawks are coming down, they hit ahead, there's a steal. Kuzma gets it, he pitches ahead to an uncontested Jordan Poole who throws it up off the glass. They're down 20. Wow, damn, Dan, I'm telling the story. I'm telling the story.
Starting point is 00:12:55 You just took his punchline, man. God damn it, Dan. That was the whole point of the story. You should go to Oddball. Oh, I am gonna go to Oddball, man. I'm sorry, he did that to you. Storytelling, learn it. So what what happened our attempt to interview Pete Rose? Pete you got me mr. Rose
Starting point is 00:13:21 $20 for an autograph. Pete. Pimlico. Charlie. Charlie Hussle. Hawaii football. Ellie Dela Cruz. Chris Sabo. Austin Kearns.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Pete, you got us. William O'Painton. Pete, you got me? Pete Rose. Pete. Ken Griffey Sr.? Ken Griffey Jr.? Oh! Hello sir! Sir! Can you hear us? Pete! Pete! We gotcha!
Starting point is 00:13:56 Oh, you can't hear us. Danny, you said he could hear us. Try turning the TV up a little. Might be my supplement, but I'm in on whatever is going on in the background. Hello sir. Charlie Hussle and the matter of Pete Rose. It's HBO's original docu-series. First two episodes premiere on HBO tonight, 9 p.m. Eastern. The last two episodes air tomorrow and all four hours will be available on Mac starting
Starting point is 00:14:22 later today. That was Pete Rose, our exclusive interview. This was his first interview about that documentary. Thank you, Pete. The shipping container debrief how Dan announced Lebo's passing. How many people talked to Dan before we went on air today? Because I had a full conversation with him
Starting point is 00:14:38 in the kitchen and had no. If he didn't mention it. He didn't say anything? Not even a hint of it. We were laughing and joking about something. Probably skipped his mind. I saw him at this, I saw. What was that?
Starting point is 00:14:51 I'm so bad with death that that is not something that you should spring on me. Yesterday we were planning on doing the show. Dan was here on the meeting and then he was gone. And then I slotted into this seat, too much fanfare. And I was prepared to do the exact same thing. And then I saw that Dan was here. And Dan didn't take part in the meeting,
Starting point is 00:15:08 he just kind of went to this room, understandably, actually, not understandably, where he finds the strength to even do the show, tells you a lot that this show does bring him some relief, so as bad as it ever may feel for you guys. And the occasional good show that you're like, hey, you guys have been there for me. I guess there's something to it,
Starting point is 00:15:27 because we were kind of there for Dan. Could have done without the surprise. That's just me. So Mike, your biggest complaint about everything this morning is how it affected you? Yeah, it did. Always. You should have workshopped it.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Always. Always. We're all complaining now. That's my person. We're clear. Billy Gill, dressed as an old timey baseball player, interrupts Dan's painful interview with Rob Delaney. I feel like I lost a son, cause I raised him.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Yeah, yeah, it's brutal. And I'm glad that you are talking about it. I'm so incredibly sorry. I'm glad that you're crying and that people can hear that because the pain truly is. There's an old-timey baseball player here, Rob. Yes, thank you. I can't cry in front of these people.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Do you know how weak it is? Do you know? I'm a blubbering idiot, Rob. I need this to be funny. Look, there's an old-timebering idiot, Rob. I need this to be funny. Like, look, there's an old timey baseball player. Rob! I know. Billy Gill crushes Butterfly Gardens seconds before learning
Starting point is 00:16:34 Lebo's funeral will be at one. My wife is so mad. About football? Yeah, well, because it comes in and eats up our Sundays and we should be at Butterfly Gardens. Sad place is Butterfly Gardens. You think so? Yeah, because you know they're all going to be dead in like three days.
Starting point is 00:16:54 I think my brother's service is going to be at one. Oh, geez. Lovely place is Butterfly Gardens. Brad Williams fears he is the show's curse. Listen, all I know is the last time I was in this studio There was a blackout and now I'm back So I'm just I I just hope nothing disastrous happens to anyone on this show today Never have me on this show again never
Starting point is 00:17:23 Massive blackouts close family member passes away if I'm back on this show again. Never. Massive blackout, close family member passes away. If I'm back on the show, your team tells me, all right, do you have all your affairs in order? Maybe you guys should have your affairs in order. I'm so sorry to be back here and causing this. Go sit in the penalty box. Go ahead and just get out of here. Five minutes to say it, I'm sorry. It's not for the I'm sorry, it's for killing my brother. Dan Leventhaler calls Dan Patrick Dave. Oh, you're saying that's the 13 wins he has to go to the Super Bowl?
Starting point is 00:17:56 Dan, I am scared to have hope. You just call me Dave? I did call you Dave. That's a fun. My brother died. But you're still proud of me. Alright, forget about the fun. I mean my brother died, his name is Dave, I'm saying it all the time lately. Don't do but like I'm not playing the dead my deadied card in response to a Billy Gill question. Has anyone ever cried off of something that they were reading off a piece of paper?
Starting point is 00:18:55 I just gave my brother's eulogy. Geez. I mean, you asked. Walked right into that one. You asked. Got your ass, Billy. You asked. You like that card. I mean, you asked! Feel into that one. You asked got your ass Billy. You like that card
Starting point is 00:19:07 Like I'm off the hook The Dead Brother card Lebatard show masseuse Genesis has her foot in Stu gots his ass Genesis's foot is in my ass right now. It's killing me damn deeper Yes deeper Genesis, but she's just gonna it's do it with your hands. She's just starting Greg Cody calls Mike Ryan a giant infant. I don't deserve it all right, and you're a fool for saying it, okay? You're a fool. Yeah, I was kind of falling Right now you're locking in on yeah, right. Let's drop the gloves pal
Starting point is 00:19:45 in on us. Yeah. Alright. Let's drop the gloves pal. Let's drop the... You should be thanking me. For what? Every day. For what? For what I've done around this character and the second shit gets real for you, you wanna come at me and call me a fool? Huh? No, no, no, no. Seriously. Jeremy. Seriously pal. Jeremy just whispered. I've added 10 years to your career. You wanna call me a fool? Wait a wait a minute you be toiling away you Michael your mark you want me everything you owe me everything you have added 10 years You're a rude young man, you're a fool! You're a fool! You're a fool right back at me! You're an idiot again! It's a fool on! You're an idiot twice! You're an idiot for dismissing how much I've helped you! You are a fool!
Starting point is 00:20:28 You're nobody! You are an infant! You have no thick skin! You are nobody to me! Where was me and Izzy? Oh my god, I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!
Starting point is 00:20:36 I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!
Starting point is 00:20:44 I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! You have no fix skin! Where was me and Izzy? Oh my god. Dude that was like two years ago. You are nobody to me. Yeah, but it's a suey for this year. No, it was like last summer. It was for last year. It was last summer. You should have complained last suey. What the hell man? There was also Chris something that you forgot to add that I do think we should play this one. We definitely should play the Ronnie Chang No, I just forgot his name. Oh we should play this Thing oh yeah in there. I think I was laughing over it. Yeah. No, yeah, I called them
Starting point is 00:21:29 I might need to go back and just listen to that one myself at one point. I didn't hear it the first time He's like you're a rude boy Your dad was legit mad never sounded older. I think Mike thought he was joking I think Mike was a little heated there was he mad more there or at the LSU thing? Oh The LSU thing to start. Yeah, he's pissed. Yeah, like that one. I heard his voice crack when he's all about like I'm embarrassed The best thing about my dad is it's usually genuine with him. He's rarely active No, this was a hundred percent serious and this was I was like out of town that day or something and like I got so
Starting point is 00:22:03 Many text messages about this this Mike and Greg argument. Everyone thought it was real, because I think it was real. It was real. At least on Greg's side, I laughed my ass off when it happened. It is one of the funniest things you've ever done on this show.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Dude, there's no, none of these shits that would make me really uncomfortable. They're all funny. They're all hilarious. That's kind of the idea. Although, although, really, really heavy on the Dan's brother die. Well, I mean, it was... Like, that should have been its own category.
Starting point is 00:22:30 The Death Guard. The Billy and the old-timey baseball, like, just them cutting to that during that, that was one of the funniest things all year. There was also an uncomfortable moment that got nominated for funniest moment yesterday that maybe should win both which happened when we were in Vegas on stage. The you god, Dan. Oh yeah. It was a tough one.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Who among us, right? Who among us. All right, we've got our Dolphins training camp series coming up next. It's Robert Kraycraft. River. River. Robert Kraycraft. That's a fine name.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Dammit. Suing for next year. The Patriots owner. Howdy listeners, it's Mike Ryan. The Dan Lebatard Show started September 1st, 2004. It's a long time ago, 20 years in fact. A lot has changed over that 20 years. But for most of that 20 years, we've had Miller Lite on board as a proud partner. And even though, like I said, so much has changed, our show has changed, where we've been, where we air, our priorities, they've all changed. One thing that hasn't?
Starting point is 00:23:33 The dependable taste of Miller Lite. What's the best thing about the original light beer? Miller Lite sparked this debate way back in 1975 and we still haven't settled it. For me, it's undebatable. The quality. Great taste. Only 96 calories. It's a beer that strips away everything that you don't need and holds on to what matters most. You don't have to choose what you like best about Miller Light. Miller Light has great taste and is less filling. Tastes like Miller time. To

Terms and conditions apply. Don LeBretard. While there's nothing official, and conversations are still ongoing. Was that a fake Schefter?
Starting point is 00:25:17 I tried. It was pretty good. It was excellent. I feel like there's legs. I tried at the beginning, and then I lost confidence in it. Why? It was good, it was good.
Starting point is 00:25:25 You got this. There's nothing official. Yeah, it's so good. Conversations are still ongoing. Stugats. It is trending towards Nick Sirianni, remaining the head coach of the Eagles. This is the Don LeBattar Show with the Stugats. I believe you to be the biggest fan favorite on this team. River Kraycraft, am I wrong about this? Am I wrong? He is your biggest fan right there sitting uncomfortably next
Starting point is 00:26:03 year. No, River, we asked him for a list of players he wanted to have on today, and he gave us a list that just had your name on it. That's right. You're a deep sleeper for me this year in fantasy, by the way. I'm taking you into 16th round every league. No one's taking you. You know that, right?
Starting point is 00:26:16 That should offend you. I love it, I love it. It fuels it. I appreciate that. Do you feel like a fan favorite though? Because you know this, I don't know whether you're able to walk the streets of Miami anonymously because you guys wear. I don't know whether you're able to walk the streets
Starting point is 00:26:25 of Miami anonymously because you guys wear a helmet. Are you able to do that too? Are you able, or do you find yourself running into a lot of people like this guy that you make feel good because of what you do on Sundays? I think I look like your average American, so I don't get questioned walking down the street. I would have thought you competed
Starting point is 00:26:43 in surfing at the Olympics, honestly. Most people think I'm a baseball player if I tell them I'm in sports or something. There are a couple of dolphins who have funny stories on that front. Wes Welker one time, they thought he was with a neighbor who wouldn't believe that he was a dolphin football player and then looked at him and said, no wonder we were 1 in 15 last year when they saw him. And Zach Thomas, they handed him one time their valet keys outside of a restaurant because they thought he was the valet. This is all happening just because you're white, correct?
Starting point is 00:27:13 Just saying. I don't know about all that. I do have a great story for you though. When I was, back when I was with the Denver Broncos, they had these events that you would go to and you'd wear your jersey and you'd go and you'd be there for people. And I was in my own jersey and people would come up to me thinking I was a fan and I'd be like
Starting point is 00:27:31 no look like I was like no I'm a player and they were I had this one family come up to me and look at me and ask me if I was a player I said yes and they were like nah you're not a player and they just walked away it's like all right but you've not a player. And they just walked away. It's like, all right. But you've arrived at your dreams, right? I don't know what your expectations were in say high school, but you've arrived at them, correct? You've arrived at the place that it's not just, making the league and being someone who's productive
Starting point is 00:27:59 in the league feels like a success, does it not? It's part of the journey. It's not the ultimate goal, but it is part of the journey. Couple pro balls, what are we looking for here? What's the goal? It's the end game, Spence. I keep the end game to myself. I've never told anybody.
Starting point is 00:28:13 That a boy. Wow, right. I mean, you think it's a Super Bowl, but now I'm curious. Yeah. Might be more. Okay, so forgive me. So I've underestimated you in the question. You've dreamt bigger than this.
Starting point is 00:28:23 I believe so, yeah. Yeah, I have my own dreams and aspirations, and I'll keep those to myself. And I know when I hit milestones, and this is a milestone for me. But yeah, it's not the ultimate goal. How did the name forgive the ignorance of this question? The name River is not your actual name, right?
Starting point is 00:28:42 What is your born given birth name? Are you gonna keep that secret too? Now my my legal name is Tanner Clyde Craycraft Mouthful yeah. Yeah Clyde being after my grandfather a family name Tanner though was after the bad news bears Tanner character That's apparently where they got that name. But River being from River Phoenix, and there's a whole other story
Starting point is 00:29:08 that my mom would laugh at me for not telling. But they started calling me River when I was, I think, six weeks old. And then my parents just never legally changed it. So my ID, all that stuff, everything's Tanner. But no one's ever called me Tanner before. I've always been River, so. Not even Mom, huh?
Starting point is 00:29:27 Nope, nope. I mean, like I said, at six weeks old, they started calling me River. What about when you do something wrong? Right. Tanner. Tanner. That's River. That's River.
Starting point is 00:29:36 The best people call me Riv. Okay. When Mom gets angry, it's River. You know, she does the full name. Were your parents hippies? Like, generally the name doesn't get changed six weeks in. Yeah no I know well just to throw you more for a loop my brother is Sky. So my brother is Sky. My sister has a normal name she's Lexi but my brother is Sky and my parents both have the same name spelled the same but both of their names are Tracy Craicraft.
Starting point is 00:30:00 So Tracy and Tracy and then my brother Sky and river and then Lexi is the only normal name To Tracy's to Tracy's spelled the same very difficult for banks mail all that stuff phone calls growing up Those are all different. How annoying is the phrase cry me a river to you? Oh got it all the time I was pretty emotional as a kid, too You know, I'd strike out in baseball and I'd let the tears come and I got that rule a lot too much It's two gods may offend you with this but among his bodies of water River does not fall in the top five My top five list of bodies of water would you you like to hear it? Yeah, I'm here number five is ocean
Starting point is 00:30:46 Okay, number four number four is a lake. Okay number three is a canal come on Number two is a lazy river. Oh, but that's a totally different thing Number two is a lazy river. Oh, but that's a totally different thing Rivers are we're fine snakes you find stuff in there a lazy river. You don't find anything Are more powerful, so you love a lazy river deserve it Number one is a pool fair. Thank you. I thought number one was an ocean. That was five. Oh, that was five. Five for a fish. Canal being on there. Canal being five, the list goes down.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Canal is a shocker, yeah. Canal is just a Suez, I mean, come on. It's gorgeous. Real expert on the Suez Canal over there. When all of these folks at camp are talking about this guy's faster than this guy and this guy's faster than this guy, who is the fastest player on person on this team? I?
Starting point is 00:31:49 Mean oh, it's gotta be me right I'm going neck and neck with reek Now the fastest guy is Tyreke. I mean it's I think he's a fast guy in the league I think he's a fast dude. I've ever seen in my life. So I don't think it's close Okay, but forgive me for this But I thought that there was a white corner back out here somewhere running around that people are alleging that they're alleging He's that fast. I asked Raheem this most or I don't know Maybe last year and I was asking Tariq Waddle HN who wins that who wins that race? And he said, no, there's another guy who's faster
Starting point is 00:32:26 than all three of us. Is that the guy? I think it might depend on the distance we're running. I think Tariq's getting anybody in the 60. He's probably getting anybody in any race. But I think Ethan Bonner, he's got the stride. And I would love to see what he does in the 100 meter. How about you, 5,000 meter?
Starting point is 00:32:42 Let's do this. Oh yeah, I'm gonna have a laugh now. That's what I got. I'll bring that to the table, pure grit. What are you proudest of in your football career? What am I proudest of? I think sticking with it. I've had a number of transactions.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Somebody told me the other day, it's at 23 or 24 transactions in my career. And just not letting people say no and believing in yourself and having dreams and stick into it stick into the script like I told you guys when this started I have my own dreams and aspirations and I'm not gonna let somebody tell me no and dictate my future So that's what I'm most proud of have to lie. I can't lie. I really want to know what your goals are I've never been like you want to dream usually people are pretty open with this So it's not something is playing you hiding it from me makes me want it so much more, but yeah I really wanna know what your goals are. I've never been like, I've never been. Usually people are pretty open with this stuff,
Starting point is 00:33:25 so it's not something. You hiding it from me makes me want it so much more, but it's okay, I'm gonna respect you. Yeah, now my parents don't even know, so don't feel like I'm gonna know. You don't think you can list all 23 of the transactions, could you? Do you think if I made you go through the resume
Starting point is 00:33:41 of all of the people who've told you you're not good enough for what it is that you're dreaming about. Do you think you could go through all 23? I know the teams, but I don't know. Yeah. You know, cause there were, you know, for example, when I was with the Denver Broncos,
Starting point is 00:33:54 I got released maybe eight different times or seven different times. So, you know, I was released by the Broncos, the Eagles, the 49ers, and even the Dolphins at one point. So I've been released by every team I've been on at one point. When you get released, do you have to just do the thank you? I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Like even though you wanna tell them something else. I think it depends on the situation. Luckily, my dad had kind of told me, never burn bridges, always be the bigger guy. And I've always had that going into those meetings. It's hard to get fired in a sense and to basically someone tell you you're no good or not good enough or whatever it is.
Starting point is 00:34:35 But every time is different, especially in my experience as I've gotten older, I've been released for different reasons. Sometimes it's because I'm not doing well enough. Sometimes it's because they need another position here. Sometimes it's because we traded for somebody, whatever it is, it's always different. Sometimes they lie, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:50 Yeah, there could be that too, yeah. I mean, I've been in weird situations, so I've dealt with a lot, but. You were with Mike McDaniel in San Francisco. You came over here. Like, how has he changed going from coordinator to head coach? Well, I think his role has changed, right?
Starting point is 00:35:05 He's leading the entire team now. So he's always been amazing to us. He was very involved with the receivers over in San Francisco. So we did have a great relationship. But to see him go from a coordinator now to head coach and the responsibility that he's had to take on, it's been very unique to see in anybody's position to get that kind of, what you call it,
Starting point is 00:35:29 raising responsibility, I guess. But it is cool to see, you know, to see everything and how he's handled everything and what his approach was. Every coach is different. Everybody wants to approach it differently. So that's been awesome. He's amazing.
Starting point is 00:35:44 I love Mike. He's had my back and he's let me compete. And that's all I can ask for as a player. As an undrafted free agent, the day of the draft, what were you expecting? So I had a little unique of a situation. I had blown my knee out late in my senior year of college. So unfortunately I was being told that I might be a late round pick even with a blown ACL. I don't think that was the best advice that I was given but just so I could have expected,
Starting point is 00:36:19 you know, and who knows what would have happened if I wasn't hurt, you know, but, but going undrafted was I think it's hard, but it's not, it's not the end of the world. And had I had that perspective back then, I think I'd have been a little bit better off, but it was a difficult day. Do you like being underestimated? I do. I do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:41 There was a part of me for a long time that always wanted respect, always wanted people to give me my flowers that I felt like I deserved. And there came a point in my career where I started to use that, and not want that anymore. And as long as I had my family and my people with me, then that's all that really matters. It took me a long time to get there. But I think probably my transition to Miami,
Starting point is 00:37:06 the year I came to Miami, is when I was finally able to turn that around and look at things that way. When he asks you about McDaniel, we've seen in a way that's obvious and undeniable the way that he has helped to by simply believing in him. You're clearly a McDaniel guy. He clearly trusts you to execute what it is
Starting point is 00:37:27 that he needs executed within everything that he's doing. Has anyone given you that kind of belief before? Have you felt that kind of belief from someone in all of these ecosystems that you've existed in? In my NFL career, Mike and Wes Welker are the only two, in my opinion, that have really, quote unquote, given me a chance. I've always been the guy that's known my responsibilities.
Starting point is 00:37:53 It's, I've always also been the guy where people think I have a lack of talent maybe to come through with it. And Mike and Wes collectively are the first group of people who have looked at me and said, here's your opportunity. You know, we're not going to do it for you. You know what to do. Let's see if you can execute it. And with me being able to back that up and come through, both parts matter. And I have nothing but respect for those two.
Starting point is 00:38:21 And, and I thank them for giving me the op. River, when the wide receivers go out for dinner, okay, who is the guy, is it expected that Tariq Hill is picking up the bill? No, no. No, it should be. No, I mean he does it because he's a good guy, you know, and Waddle does it too.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Do you do the thing where you're like, no Waddle does that, Waddle does that. And then they're like, now get your card out of here, and you're like, okay, no problem, I was gonna pay, but. Do you make the motion, do you do the thing where you're like, I'll pay. Waddle does that. And then they're like, now get your card out of here. And you're like, OK, no problem. I was going to pay. But the old D. Do you make the motion? Do you do that?
Starting point is 00:38:49 Like, I got to offer. Sometimes I might have to. I got this one, guys. Oh, no, not me. Financially, we were on very different levels. Tyreek and Jaylen, they both step up to the plate a lot. It just speaks to their character. Have you had any memorable trash talk from defenders in the league? Like, do you have any good stories of guys giving you some?
Starting point is 00:39:07 Of guys trash talking. I really don't talk that much out there. And I kind of like when I'm out there because a lot of people look at me when they're on the field and they're just kind of like, all right, he's probably not getting the ball. So they don't really pay attention to me, which is great because then I get to-
Starting point is 00:39:21 I wonder why that is. Yeah, yeah, me too. Yeah. Yeah, I was saying, huh, it is what it is. But I like it because, all right, you're gonna try and take a playoff because you look at me and don't think I'm a guy. Great, now I'm a professional.
Starting point is 00:39:32 This wasn't always the case. Like, okay, we have fun with it, but at every level until when, you were a superior athlete to most of the people you were playing against, correct? Like that- Yeah. At some point you went from, like, the higher you climbed, where, correct? Like that, at some point you went from, like the higher you climbed,
Starting point is 00:39:46 where was the point where that changed for you? Because the confidence that you must have had as a young athlete, as you know, went to high school and whatnot, you were better than most people, were you not? I would say so, yeah. College, NFL, you know, and I speak on this a lot. I think understanding your role
Starting point is 00:40:03 and knowing where you fit in on each individual team is very important and the quicker that you're able to realize that, the quicker the team will be able to move forward and yes, like when I was in college, it was very different. When I was in high school, it was very different. I walked out of college with over 200 catches. There's not a lot of guys in their career
Starting point is 00:40:20 who have done that and I was very proud of that, but yeah, I was absolutely the guy. And you come to a place like Miami with Jalen Waddle and Tyree Kill, you have to understand where you fit in, right? You're not gonna get 70 targets a year, you know? So yeah, there's a little bit of pride swallowing there and then a little bit of, okay,
Starting point is 00:40:38 if I wanna get out on the field, this is how I'm gonna do it because I understand their talent level and I understand my talent level and it's not that I'm less of anything to anybody else on the field and how I'm gonna do it, because I understand their talent level and I understand my talent level and it's not that I'm less of anything to anybody else on the field and how I view myself, I just know my strengths, right? So I can recognize my strengths and say,
Starting point is 00:40:54 this is what I can bring to the table and maybe this guy's not gonna do this, so let me do this part better. We wanna thank you for your time, but before you get out of here, have you ever been interviewed with your face as close to someone as it is to Chris Cody? It's a little uncomfortable. It's an honor.
Starting point is 00:41:12 One of my biggest fans here. I'm sweating here talking to you. You're very happy. Thank you. We've enjoyed watching you here with the Dolphins. Thank you for making the time for us. Thank you guys. I appreciate you bringing me on here.
Starting point is 00:41:24 Thank you, sir. He asked for you. He requested for you. He requested. I appreciate that. And Tyree kill wasn't on the ask list. We got the Viori exactly.
