Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. This is the Dunluba Tarshou with the StugatSpotcast. Extremely excited to have Rebecca Lo joining us. We spoke to our co-host, Brendan Hunt. Yesterday, you can catch her work on Premier League mornings, but also after the whistle. It's an Apple News podcast. At Mittler, it's something to do with in season one. Excited to see where it goes for this women's world cup cycle. Rebecca, let's get right to it because a lot of people may have slept through last night.
Starting point is 00:00:41 A lot of people are upset that they didn't sleep through last night to see a listless performance from the US Women's National team. Your takeaways because people seem pretty upset right now. Mike, people want their night back. I mean, people waking up at midnight to watch that was pretty much a waste of time. It was abysmal. I would go so far as to say it was abysmal. It was probably the worst I've ever seen
Starting point is 00:01:05 the US women's national team play. From start to finish, I mean, normally you have a good heart from a bad heart, if you, if overall you've had a bad performance, you can say, well, at least we had a good second half. But really, from minute one, the crazy thing is, he pretty much picked the team that I'd have picked, but they just don't look hungry. I don't understand
Starting point is 00:01:26 why they can't perform. It's very strange and very concerning, but I do think the head coach needs to take a lot of the pressure here because I'm not sure he's making in-game decisions particularly well. But Rebecca, I feel like this team has gained enough equity with us, with its fans. They did what they needed to do. They advanced and we should celebrate them advancing. Yeah, I mean, that's one, that's one argument. They did what they needed to do in terms of they got out the group,
Starting point is 00:01:54 but what you really need to do in a world cup is finish top of your group. Because if you're going to finish second, you're going to have a very difficult last 16 game. And it looks like they're going to play Sweden. That's not easy. Had they really done what they were supposed to do and finished top, it would have been easier. So, I mean, I guess they got out of their group,
Starting point is 00:02:10 great, at least they're not out by the skin of their teeth because of course, when Portugal hit the post in stoppage time, if that ball had gone in, they'd have been going home. US women's national team would have been on the plane today. So, yep, they're through. Yep, that was their objective in the big picture way of looking at it, but not in the mind you shy. And they're not doing what
Starting point is 00:02:29 they should be doing. Are there signs for hope and encouragement going through? Or are we just leaning on our reputation? There's always signs of hope. I mean, there are Sophia Smith in the first game with two goals. She looked brilliant. She on her day can do it. We have experience in Rapinoe, in Julia, Kelly O'Hara, who really showed some leadership at the end of this game when she kind of gave a bit of a team talk and said, look, forget about everything now. Now it's about a one game tournament. So we have that experience. And let's hope that can come to the fore because something needs to happen. There needs to be a spark because at the moment there is no spark and that is very unusual for the USA. Look,
Starting point is 00:03:11 their favourites coming in, so there's a huge amount of pressure. The targets on their back, we know that. We know that's always the case with the USA. They kind of should be used to that. So it's strange how muted they are, which is why I come back to the head coach, because I'm just not sure he's got the credentials to take this team all the way. I hope I'm proven wrong. Is it fair to say that against Sweden, missing a couple of good players? They're going to be a serious underdog,
Starting point is 00:03:38 which is unheard of for them in the last eight, 12 years. The US is going to be an underdog to Sweden, right? Well, you know, it's funny, guys, football's weird. You can see the reputation as Mike was talking about there. Sometimes proceed you even over form. I'm not sure they will be underdogs. If you looked at it in a very small little last couple of weeks and you're an alien coming down to the women's world cup, then maybe. But anyone who knows about
Starting point is 00:04:05 the women's game over the years will still think the USA can pull us out the bag. They are missing a big player. So Rose Levelle, who is back from injury and started the game against Portugal, picked up a yellow card. That's two yellow cards now in the tournament for her. She misses Sweden. That's a big loss. So that makes them slightly more, if you're gonna say underdogs, I suppose. I still don't think they're underdogs. Sweden and not the team they used to be. America go into this for me. Favorites have to win, should win.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Yeah, I don't think they're gonna be underdogs either. And the betting markets are probably something different than perception, but it's also funky tournament. We saw Argentina like eight years ago, make a World Cup final without actually playing well throughout the entire tournament. It's a very strange thing, but I want to talk to you now
Starting point is 00:04:52 a little bit shift gears before we come back to the Women's World Cup, because I think for me the most fascinating story is the Columbia and Women's National team, and I'd love to get your thoughts on that given their history, but you also work for NBC's coverage of the Premier League. And one of the things that the English Premier League
Starting point is 00:05:09 has never really had to deal with is their league being rated. And right now, it might seem like a relationship out of convenience because not a lot of great contracts are finding their way over to Saudi Arabia. But I'm curious to see English perspective right now on the Saudi League. It's really interesting. I think at the beginning of all this happening, people thought we'll try to try this about
Starting point is 00:05:35 10 or so years ago and it peaked it out. So this is going to be the same thing. I don't think it is the same thing. Do I think that the Saudi League is going to rival the Premier League? Absolutely not. It just can't because yes, they have some players who are in the middle of their careers, but on the whole, if you look at the Jordan Henderson's and you look at the Benzimas and you look at the Ronaldo's, they are all similarly to Messi coming to MLS. So there is a raid as such, but it's not yet got to a level where I'm thinking this is
Starting point is 00:06:07 really dangerous. It's a bit dangerous as well because of the money. It's just kind of skew-wipping, as we say in England, the whole landscape of transfer. So if you're being offered crazy amounts of money for a player that isn't worth it, that is going to change the way the money is then fed down the pyramid. It's kind of changing that side of things. I don't think from a football perspective, it's a big problem right now because the players going over there are on the whole, on the whole, at the end or nearer the end of their careers. You're at the moment not getting the 20 year old or the 21 or 22 year old, you're not getting early in Harlem
Starting point is 00:06:44 saying, you know what, I wanna go to Saudi Arabia. If that happens, then we're in trouble. Arshad was kind of at the center of a related story when Tony Khan mentioned Saudi Arabia's human rights record and the murder of a journalist. This was when Mitravich was linked to go to Saudi Arabia and it seemed as though after that made news, the public counter by Saudi Arabia
Starting point is 00:07:07 was to offer a bleep you money deal to the headman in charge, Marco Silva, over at Fulham. He rejected, but are, do they not only have resources, but can you actually say they have bleep you money and they'll just keep increasing offers until people bend the knee? Eve, um, yeah, they could they will probably continue to offer crazy amounts of money until some people bend, but not everyone's going to bend guys.
Starting point is 00:07:34 They're just not the level of play. I mean, look at Mbappe, for example, what are they? I mean, now that is bleak view money. I mean, the money he's been off is $700 million or something. It's insane. And at the moment, according to reports, he's not interested. Why? Because if Embape goes to Saudi Arabia, the level of his play will drop because the players there are not very good on the whole. They're just not at the level that he's used to playing in European
Starting point is 00:07:56 football. So he's going to say no. Marco Silva, as it stands, wants to honor his contract for the next year at Fulham. Also, he's managing in the best league in the world. In a year's time, Marco Silva's contract will be up. That's when things might change. Maybe he'll think, you know, I'll go for two years and take a lot of money and then I'll come back. I just, I just want to, I think we need to see how things turn out with the likes of Stephen Gerard, for example. He goes over there, it's getting paid more money than he'll ever have had in his life and by the way, he's had a lot of money. In two years' time, when he comes back, how does it affect
Starting point is 00:08:30 his career? That's then going to affect how people make their decisions because if Gerard comes back and can't get a job because he's been managing in a pretty lowly league, then a lot of people are going to think, actually, you know what, I'm not sure I want to sacrifice the rest of my career for two years of money, but some people will. That's what makes us all different. You can check out Rebecca and Brendan Hunt, her co-host on After the Whistle. They're covering this women's world cup extensively over there. And I want to talk to you about what is, for me, an equal parts great story,
Starting point is 00:09:00 but also sad story when you dive into the history of the Colombian soccer federation and their treatment of women. We're talking about sexual harassment. We're talking about withheld wages. We're talking about the same oppressors that are keeping this power dynamic in their federation, actually taking the wages from one tournaments over there. And yet in the face of all that,
Starting point is 00:09:21 Colombia are having a magical run right now in the World Cup with a brilliant 19 year old that you can make an argument is shining to the point that is Linda Kaisato the best player in the world right now, certainly most informed. Oh, I mean, I think you're right, most informed. What she can do on the football field is very, very rare. She runs around defenders like they're not there. She has played guys, like you say, she's,
Starting point is 00:09:45 she just turned 19. She has played in three World Cups in a year because she played for the under 17s just as she was turning 18. The under 20s are now at the senior World Cup. I mean, there's very few people if not any who've ever done that and she's performed at them all.
Starting point is 00:09:58 She is somebody, remember the name, Linda Kaisedo. You're gonna know that name for the next 10 to 15 years but to go back to what you said about the federation, Mike, this is the problem with the women's world cup. When Brendan and I did a 8 to Z, as you guys would say, 8 to Z on each for each team, virtually every team has an issue with their federation, whether it is allegations of sexual abuse or payments, or simply they can't even seem to get them on the right flight altogether It's an absolute joke that the men get treated the way they do at the World Cup six months ago
Starting point is 00:10:31 And because of the way the Qatar World Cup was changed to December we have this juxtaposition now Six months apart. Let's look at how the men are treated. Let's look at how the women are treated It's an absolute disgrace guys and we have to air it as much as we can to try and get these things to move forward. But Jamaica is another one. Jamaica, they've been there, their organization. The players didn't even know which airport they were supposed to be going to. It really is a disgrace. And the US women's national team have done a lot to try and move things forward in terms of equal pay. Thank God for them. But it is the slowest domino effect in the history of the world. By the way, it's an absolute shambles. Well, the women super league over in the UK
Starting point is 00:11:09 is doing a lot to elevate the women's game and also help these European nations. And we're seeing the United States lead that was propelled by things like Title IX, things that this country had over other countries. How soon, or maybe are we living in it right now? Is the United States going to be just a regular size fish in this pond? I think we're getting towards it now.
Starting point is 00:11:34 I think we're getting it towards it now. I mean, having said that, having said that, having lived in America for 10 years and now I'm in American citizen. Oh, yes. I do think that this country is the best in the world in terms of facilities, support, finance, everything that any player could ever want. So actually United States, men and women should be mulled ahead of everybody. They actually should, if you look at everything that they have in this country to support them. Unfortunately,
Starting point is 00:12:01 it doesn't always work like that in the world. And we are seeing that this women's world cup that, yes, the USA are now a slightly smaller fish. There's still a decent size, but everybody else is catching up. And I think this is gonna be the world cup where we see that sort of slight change of narrative. But you know what, it's a good thing. You know, one of the United States
Starting point is 00:12:21 will be winning 10-0 every world cup. We don't want that. We want competitive football because that's gonna to drive eyeballs to the women's World Cup. So I'm fine with it, but the USA need to kick up the backside to realize that they're supposed to be number one. They're supposed to be bloody good at what they do and at the moment they aren't showing anybody that.
Starting point is 00:12:37 So kick up the backside or else, yeah, little tiny fish from in around. She's up there with Ernie Johnson. She's up there with Reese Davis as the best studio host in the game. Her hot take game is horrible. She's on the hot seat. Expect more from the United States. I love you Rebecca. She is damn good at all this. Make sure to check out all her work. Specifically after the whistle with Brendan Hunt. Rebecca, thank you so much. Absolutely pleasure guys. Have a great day. Thank you. Don Lebertard. Spots!
Starting point is 00:13:07 Stugats. More Spots! VCC Don Lebertard Show with the Stugats. Apologies that I'm sitting in this seat and I immediately took it to soccerland. Right? What you do. Yeah, I didn't push Dan out of the seat to do that interview. Dan left and it's soccer land.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Yeah, and it sounds lovely. And it's been a bit of a day and we're all kind of processing it. Sounds like a lamb where nothing happens. Same part. Yeah, I found out with the rest of you that that thing happened at 2am this morning. And we have bread Williams in and we have Lucy. And it's been a heck of a couple of weeks for Lucy. I trust me when I say it's not like this all the time.
Starting point is 00:13:56 It's close to this. Most of the time. Most, actually, it's like this all the time. There's a few weeks a year though, where it's not like this. And it has to be, for it to not be like this, the heat and panthers have to be in the final simultaneous. I mean, most of the time I'm not here, so I'll have to take your word on it.
Starting point is 00:14:12 I'm so glad I moved across the country for this. So I'm so happy. Yeah, we're one big family. You know, but the type of family that surprises people with really horrible news at the time on air To get your honest reaction on YouTube, because everything is content these days. Everything. Brad. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:32 This is okay. Brad. Yes, you're welcome. Yeah, okay. This is the second weirdest. I don't wanna call it a gig, but it's something that I'm doing. I once did stand up at a wedding
Starting point is 00:14:50 and I had to follow the maid of honor who did a toast. And during the toast, she said obviously many people in the wedding knew that the bride's mother had passed away two weeks before the wedding, two weeks. And the toast was a lovely toast. It was art. She's looking down on us in heaven. You look so great. And then now comedian Brad Williams. That was my intro. That was literally my intro. Not let's lighten it up. Now let's do something a little more fun. It's just all right. Let's cheers to mom. And now the comedy of Brad Williams,
Starting point is 00:15:28 that was my intro. Whoever designed that run a show, spot on. This is right up there with that. Surprise. By the way, I'm launching a tour today. All right, great. First theater tour. This is not just like him going around. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's good to work. That's good to work. First theater tour, this is not just like, you know, him going around. This is a theater tour. Yeah, let's fill these theaters. Yeah, we have a fancy graphic up for you.
Starting point is 00:15:52 There you go. It's not all bad. By your tickets early, I'm a very small man. If you're in the back, it's going to be tough to see. I mean, I'm not having screens. I'm not Taylor Swift. So, but yeah, get your tickets called tour 24. All the details are on my website. Use pre-so code Brad and it's the announcement today. What's your website?
Starting point is 00:16:12 BradWilliamscomedy.com over 60 dates, but okay, whatever, I'm sorry. That's the people's family members are paying. As part of your shows this weekend in Miami, you should just reiterate the sad news that started today's show. That's what I'll do. I'll, yeah, I'm going to be at the Miami improv this weekend and that's how I'll open. I'll open with a moment of silence and replay this, start of the show and then tell some jokes which will be followed by more moments of silence. There is more comedy to be had here.
Starting point is 00:16:41 How many people talked to Dan before we went on air today? Because I had a full conversation with him in the kitchen and had no. If you didn't mention anything. You didn't say anything? Not even a hint of it. We were laughing and joking about something. It was.
Starting point is 00:16:53 It was just mind. I saw him at this. I saw him at this. I mean, how does he not ingregs defense? It's funny, but how does he not say anything to Billy or to any of us? I saw him at the sink, like filling up a water container, and the water container was overflowing,
Starting point is 00:17:07 and he was just standing there with his head down. So I kind of... You kind of picked up on something. And then Billy came over, I was like, here's a knee slapper for you. No, I went up and I... No, no, no. I went out for Brad Williams, this Billy Gale.
Starting point is 00:17:18 The first time I had seen him in weeks, and I was like, hey, how's it going? Because I knew him. Yeah, I'm like, how are you doing? The normal question of how's it going? Yeah, welcome back, Billy. You didn't say, hey, how's it going? Because I knew it. Aaron, like, how are you doing? The normal question of how's it going? Yeah, welcome back, Billy. You didn't say small talk. Yeah, small talk.
Starting point is 00:17:29 It's a laugh we joked in the next talk. Small talk. That would have been a great name for the tour. Damn it. Is it too late? It's too late. Next tour. So we'll get that graphic up.
Starting point is 00:17:36 When we had Ron on, there was just a, hey, Stu, how's it going? And Stu was like, great. Yeah, is it? Just go with good today. Is it? I don't know. I am so bad with death. This is after I knew. as it go and it's like great. Yeah, is it? Just go with good today. Is it? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:46 I am so bad with death. This is after I knew. I'm so bad with death that that is not something that you should spring on me. Yesterday, we were planning on doing the show. Dan was here on the meeting and then he was gone. And then I slotted into the seat too much fanfare. And I was prepared to do the exact same thing.
Starting point is 00:18:04 And then I saw that Dan was here. And Dan didn't take part in the meeting. He just kind of went to this room understandably, actually not understandably. But where he finds a strength to even do the show tells you a lot that this show does bring him some relief. So as bad as it ever may feel for you guys. And the occasional good show that you're like,
Starting point is 00:18:24 hey, you guys have been there for me. I guess there's something to it because we were kind of there for Dan. Could have done without the surprise. That's just me. Chris, he texted Chris this morning. He's like, I'm gonna be there just for a little bit and I'm gonna go and I'm like, okay.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Chris, you knew? I was on a text chain where he was like, I'm gonna pop in for the start. No, he said he was coming in, right? He didn't say. He's like, I might have to leave for hour two. Okay, he's gone. Yeah, I had no idea.
Starting point is 00:18:48 So, so Mike, your biggest complain about everything this morning is that is how it affected you. Yeah, he should have worked. Oh, wait, he's just a rock of planning. That's my prison baby. That's my prison baby. All right, so I do want to, we had a tough day. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:03 I do keep my condolences on your day. I do not like my condolences on your day on not. It's such a hard day for you. I have been inconvenienced by Libo a couple of days. So many plates. So I actually have a funny story about Libo that I'll share with you guys right now.
Starting point is 00:19:18 I my most recent tattoo is a Libo design and a lot of people I posted one picture of it and the internet was very helpful to point out that there's actually a Libo design and a lot of people, I posted one picture of it and the internet was very helpful to point out that there's actually a typo in it. I think you can understand why there's a typo in it given the condition that Libo has been in and I did notice it and I've decided to keep it the way that it is but it's the second to last. I really have a choice. I mean it's permanent.
Starting point is 00:19:44 No, no, no, no, no, it's actually an easy, because he missed an eye. And there's a space there that I can, I was actually going back and forth with Dan about whether or not I should fix the typo or just remember it as it was. Because when I first saw the design, I actually didn't want the writing in it. And then the typo presented itself,
Starting point is 00:20:02 and it was actually a very easy decision to just not go with it. So this Libos story is about your tattoo. Yeah. Yeah. Just so we're clear. No, no, no. And how he's fine. And how he messed it up. Literally Joe Bell. He's had a tough day. I told you I'm retroactive. I told you I'm bad with death. Everything's about me. Obviously. So I decided to keep it and I will keep it henceforth, henceforth, like that. But it's not the last piece of art that Libot did. I actually saw the last piece of art that Libot did. And it was while Libot was at the hospital. I saw, like, then it was very kind to share videos of Libos reaction to the art.
Starting point is 00:20:45 And I saw Libos last actual piece of art. You know how they have the whiteboard where the nurse writes their name and everything like that. There was a fancy Libo design penis on that whiteboard right by the nurse's name. And that's the kind of fight that Libo had that's kind of elevated spirit. Libohad for all of this, Dan's been really private and I hope on that tattoo.
Starting point is 00:21:09 No, I don't have the penis. The penis because I don't have the claim to fame that I have Liboh's last piece. Are you upset about that? No, not in the least because I've been I don't think I'm I've never this is more about me. Guys, so buckle up. I would not be producing this show, we're not for Lebo. Flatly. Lebo was really kind to me, I stepped in a pretty big shoes here and naturally two
Starting point is 00:21:37 goths and Dan were really nervous about it because every step of the way of my, my history with the show, I've been in over my head, and this was a show that was moving in a really positive direction, at the time that Hawk are executive producer at the time left it, and Dan did not trust me, flatly. This is, this is, now the feeling.
Starting point is 00:21:57 Yeah, they shouldn't come as those surprise, but I like it. I've had awkward situations where Dan has had me interview a potential replacement for myself. It was, it was, what a weird place. Yeah, it was, it was a really weird place. And the only people that were in Dan's ear about you gotta write it out with him,
Starting point is 00:22:14 you gotta, his heart is good and they have faith was, I went out to dinner with Libos so much during that time. And I went out to dinner with Dan's mom, trying to figure out ways to earn Dan's trust, trying to figure out ways to earn Dan's trust, trying to figure out ways to learn more about Dan and help our dynamic. And so I know that Dan's a complicated guy. So I went to the people that knew him best.
Starting point is 00:22:34 And over the course of three years, Lebo and I got really close. We went to a bunch of concerts together. And I would have left the show or I would have been, I would have been candel long time ago. If it wasn't for what Lebo did for me just as a friend, just as a person, Lebo knew his brother better than anybody, so he provided me so much insight and so much help in just being able to overcome, sorry if I'm getting choked up a little bit, and just being able
Starting point is 00:22:59 to overcome the personality dynamics of this. As you guys can attest to, it's a pretty strange setup that we have over here and over the years Lebo he moved and He had this this fight going on that he he fought so bravely and valiantly throughout the years with it And we couldn't talk all that much and I couldn't get the opportunity really to say what he meant to me And I kind of feel guilty now that my one of my last requests in time with the Libo was just, hey, make me a tattoo. But it's something special and the fact that
Starting point is 00:23:32 there's a typo on it makes me laugh. And I'll think back to seeing that initial reaction from him in the video and seeing what his spirits were at the time. And the fact that he had a penis drawn on the on the whiteboard. The fact that he was able to smile throughout the process was something that was uplifting in a really weird circumstance, especially for someone like me that understandably is bad with death,
Starting point is 00:23:56 given my history. And I just, I love him so much for what he did for me. And I know you guys have your own stories and interactions with Libos, you guys had a really great on-air relationship with Libo. Libo was a part of our show and not just the the aesthetic but an actual cast member on our show when we did the man who's never willingly attended a spawning event in all sorts of other bits that we should edit and possibly revisit. What did he
Starting point is 00:24:20 call to? What did he say? Tom Braves Like Eric Braves. He said Eric Geter. Eric Geter. He's like, I'm Eric Geter. Who do you, who do you, he's like, who is a superstar of the Yankees, the captain that was killing the game for time, Geter? He's like, I know this. Eric Geter and one of the great show moments of all time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Lebo, Lebo in terms of people associated with her show. Also him painting the orange. Yeah, he had a really high key rating. And there were things going on that unfortunately meant his interactions with the show were fewer and further between. And I think that's understandable now. But he was, there's no Levitard show. There certainly no me as a part of the Levitard show without him.
Starting point is 00:25:05 And his art speaks for itself, but just as I knew the man, not necessarily knowing the artist all that much, knowing the show character that we grew to love for his naivete and his laissez-faire attitude for everything that Libot was. I'm eternally grateful, and we're all better for having him in our lives. Let's go to Brad. I'd rather hear Greg. Lucy?
Starting point is 00:25:29 Oh. Don Lebertard. Fall the rain drops for lemon drops and gun drops. Oh, what a rain that would be. Stoo got standing outside with my mouth open wide. Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah In hindsight, the water overflowing, crocheted it up. I mean, I was trying to tell you, Chris. And water was trying to tell you something. I knew he was just been stressed for weeks,
Starting point is 00:26:11 so it could have been that stress. Like, I didn't know that we had arrived. It was a weird one. And then I saw people joking around him, and I'm just like, this is awkward, man. Yeah, yeah. Brad Williams at the Miami Him Pro, this weekend. I hate you all. I hate you all.
Starting point is 00:26:25 I hate you all so much. I'm in 20. I have- Not really. Roy's cool. Thank you. I have a question for you guys. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Have any of you guys, and this is kind of like, in completely opposite direction, but I've had a few with us today, Billy. Have you guys ever like bought something once or signed up for something once and then received four years email promotions for that said item or company. And what is the weirdest one? Because for like five years now, I'm terrified on the tie-in.
Starting point is 00:26:56 I've been getting emails for this company called Undisputed Belts. I believe because of the championship belt that we gave big boy when he won celebrity prognosticator like 16 weeks in a row. So we ordered him a custom championship belt for beating Colin Coward. And for like six years now, I'm constantly getting emails about this website's promotional championship customizable belts. I have to dig through my email, but there's a few of those really random ones. I got emails from a maker of oversized foam cowboy hats. Yeah, because the canes open up against LSU
Starting point is 00:27:34 in Jerry World one year, and I thought it was a great idea to have an oversized orange cowboy hat, which was visible from one of the biggest stadiums in America at every seat, and it just never left my lap after the first quarter. We let out those crap, but it's...
Starting point is 00:27:49 But Billy, can you unsubscribe to the emails? Can't you do that? I couldn't work. Yeah, I'm with Greg. They find a different angle. Yeah, they ignore it. It always keeps coming somehow. I don't know how.
Starting point is 00:28:00 I'm looking through my email. I act, and that's a bad job of sitting in this driver's seat a little bit, and that's not great audio So I apologize. Well, I may I could have given you guys a heads up That today yeah, we could all be doing better better there in that respect Greg You see has something actually you were looking in your phone. Yeah, see that you want Is well the beer still a thing? I feel so welcome
Starting point is 00:28:25 Yeah, it is, it is. It's really cool. Will the beer, yeah. In college, I used to give my friends like customized shot glasses with pictures of me on it, really narcissistic, but funny. Wow. So I will be in the middle.
Starting point is 00:28:35 I'm interested in those. Yeah, I want one. I get emails now that's like a picture of me from college on like a t-shirt or like a very nice frame. And they're like, come on, buy it again, buy it again. It's been years. I've unsubscribe to the Gregg Cody podcast, but yet it keeps coming.
Starting point is 00:28:49 It just keeps landing on my phone. That's a good example. It's like that darn U2L. I'll let you write where you wanted to go. One, two, and we don't let you out. You celebrated a big anniversary, as you know, in the industry, the four year anniversary is known to be the biggest.
Starting point is 00:29:02 It really is, that's the silver anniversary. That's minus 21. Night G-R-E-G-C-M-O-T-E. Night G-R-E-G-C-M-O-T-E. Night G-R-E-G-C-M-O-T-E. All right. Greg Cody Knight, four Myers, four years ago. Who doesn't remember it?
Starting point is 00:29:21 Career pinnacle. By the way, Lucy was on my podcast this week and I didn't get one of those custom made shot glasses. What happened? It's in the mail. Okay, good. Okay. That was a lie. Greg Kodina. Haha.
Starting point is 00:29:38 What you guys discussed about your podcast, you revisited the night that you threw out a first pitch. I made a song about me imagine that I did break news on the podcast. Oh wow. Yeah, I reported I reported exclusively and I meant to ask McGill this to see if he knew a Wombat Is capable of running a hundred meters faster than Usain Bolt. Okay. That's it. That's it. That ends right there. And you reported that. Yeah. It's a good report. You know, in a wombat, it's just like a big giant rodent.
Starting point is 00:30:22 It's the other one. But you reported it your say. No, no I broke it. You don't reveal your sources, but had you Ah, you know, I it's a bit of information that I knew I conveyed it nobody else. No This is catchy It makes you wonder Greg doesn't it why we don't have animals competing in the Olympics it does there should be an Olympic Event I mean if we want the fastest, you know, being in Earth, why does it have to be human? Right, exactly.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Speaking of animals, Dan Campbell wanted a live lion on the lion's side lion. Is that just, that's so damn. Is that just breaking news right now? Are you breaking that? The NFL said no. I'm the man. Brad, I don't think I did a good enough job of promoting your upcoming shows. And I just,
Starting point is 00:31:07 what Greg's podcast? Once in my life, I wanna be as good at promoting anything as good as Dan was at promoting Dragonfly Jones's podcast. What? He bashed up his podcast. He hasn't put up my dad's podcast like that ever. That's not occurred to me.
Starting point is 00:31:24 As he gets the name right. Of course it did. Oh, love of God. He promoted that like an absolute pro. It's the best he's ever been at it. And all it took was the tragic passing of his brother for him to turn into Johnny Carson. What?
Starting point is 00:31:43 We've been waiting for this. Who was that? I think it's on a rival network. Is that still on Cowherd's network? We've built an entire network around the man. We have 28 podcasts. He could have done that before. I don't, he still calls Mystery Crake Magic Crake.
Starting point is 00:31:57 He's never promoted anything of ours that well. But we afford him that. He's going through stuff. Yeah, he's at a tough day. It's of you. I mean, I guess, please, please, please think of me. This is my honor. Seems like you're taking the news tougher than he is.
Starting point is 00:32:13 Yeah. Really Mike, like, are you okay? No, thank you for asking. This is my honor to along European vacation, by the way. This is exactly how I wanted to go, feeling guilty that I can't make it to any sort of service. If you're wondering why we're laughing around this, it's because everything is content on this show. Dan would be the first one to tell you that.
Starting point is 00:32:30 My mom's funeral. What's the first person to tell me about that? My mom's funeral was content on this show and I spent that time during my mom's funeral thinking of actual content for the next show because it was funny to see a bunch of old people try to figure out zoom at that time. That was an offer. Yeah. It was not because of your mom because of zoom. Well, thank you. Yeah. The crazy part about being in the content business is that once you have fans, they also expect it. My father passed away a little over a year ago and the comments. Have you ever wait, you came just push through that.
Starting point is 00:33:05 You've got to think about how it makes me feel. Oh, okay. I'm sorry. Are you okay knowing that my dad passed away? Yeah, my dad's so with me. So we're good. Yes. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:14 So you feel fine. Yeah. But on the post where I made kind of announcing, there were many comments saying like, oh, this is going to be a great new 10 minutes. I'm like, milk it. Yeah. I'd rather have them back. Yeah. I'd rather have them back. I'd rather have them on Dad's back.
Starting point is 00:33:26 But okay. Are we cracking your act? What? Are we gonna crack your act this weekend? This is up there. This is up there with the, the Eulogy prior to your set at the wedding? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:37 This is right in there. Let's go back to emails we can't up subscribe to because now it's getting uncomfortable. Packed Sun is that still a thing? I get packs on a lot. I still get updates from an apartment complex. I lived in maybe 12 years ago, but it's back when I was single,
Starting point is 00:33:53 so it's like they're doing a lot of single things. So it's like, oh, it's a pool party. It's a, they're playing bags by the pool. And I'm like, man, that sounds great. I got the census the other day and I thought it would, because I have big bold letters, you must respond to this by law. The US census? There was a random survey that I was selected for.
Starting point is 00:34:14 My address was this sounds. No, no, no, it's, it was only up and out and it as well. Yeah, I thought right in the car, believe it. It came from the US Census Bureau. It had an ID number. I went through the government. It was a dot go. It's also the way. Yeah, I didn't ask me for my mother's maiden name.
Starting point is 00:34:27 Yeah, I got one of those. It was sent by somebody. No, Billy, he's not your prince. Yeah, just see like the census isn't done in like years ending in three. No, no, no, there's the proper census. And then they do a survey where it's just randomly selected folks where they try to decide whether or not you're blind or deaf, and because you, how you answer that question, they give you more teachers. That's, that was my understanding on it. It took like 45 minutes to complete.
Starting point is 00:34:55 Not even the actual big time, major league census takes that long. You can't, that's a bit of an inconvenience. I should have gotten, if, if, if, should have gotten paid. If Instagram Reels was paying me to take part in IG Reels early on, the census should give me a little nut. Just saying, there's a lot of time, my time is valuable.
Starting point is 00:35:15 A little nut. Yeah, I should get an Arbitral. I mean, Arbitral is paid. I used to do the ratings, you used to send a dollar in the mail if he would fill it out, you're right. Yeah, well, I, and this is a lot more work. I could have never, I was 18, no 19 when I started working in radio, so I've never actually had the joy of filling out a diary.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Well, we cut it. Yeah, because we were in the industry. Yeah, but I was, I was so tempted. And by tempted, you mean you did it. How can you not? And by the time to do me you did it Night That is the talented yeti yeti belong from your your podcast Greg so your your podcast has Lucy on it
Starting point is 00:36:06 Lucy Rodin our newest cast member but you call her dad the dean of what was it the dean of rodine the dean of rodines any broke news i mean the one that i'm that you got the one but don't give it all don't get away all the time not but who else is talking about a one-bat on their podcast we got there because we also had more than for my stale talking about the women's world cup and oneombats are huge in Australia. It's like other than the kangaroo, it's really like the national animal of Australia.
Starting point is 00:36:30 So that led me directly to the speed of a Wombat. Because you don't associate a Wombat look slow. Morgan from Australia thought the Wombat was slow. I'm talking to an Australian woman telling informing her that the one bad is you saying both fast nobody knew it the one back in scoot right there right sneaky speed in that right Lucy sure yeah thank you Lucy it's understandable if you're ahead spending a little bit was that about the saying that you said on the great-goatie show podcast I said it worse on my own podcast. It sits unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:37:07 You think I'm good now? I don't. You ought to hear me out. I don't think I can do that. He also said Caitlin Clark would be the tallest person ever on the podcast. Yeah. I forgot we had Chris Bosch on who six.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Sorry, Chris. Did Chris if we're really back 20 pairs of underwear for this cruise? I think he did. At least 15. Well really don't you bring more underwear than you guys like I you bring more you think oh two days like you just I like to bring a lot of underwear like this is like the one thing I've done on this show that's like not gross and everyone's Yeah, I can't win around here. I feel bad I could have done my dad's taken to like I get crushed no matter what around here. I can't win around here. I feel bad for you. It's one of the looper comments. I could have done my dad's take and said, like, I get crushed no matter what around here. I can't win. I don't know what he's a ridiculous number.
Starting point is 00:37:48 I'm packing like four underwear for a 10 day trip. Well, because you know, I free ball it. There you go. How would we know that? I've mentioned this. Oh, me free balling is cannon. That seems uncomfortable. Yeah, I, not during this summer, it's not.
Starting point is 00:38:06 Great, great, great, could we ever just free balled it? Damn right, I'm not not during this summer. It's not great great great Can we ever just free balled it damn right I have yeah right now since my college days It was a thing Seriously when I was in college that was like a thing great graphkins!
