Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. This is the Don Levertar Show with this two-guts podcast. I see the Reaper around the corner. The Reaper's been late to meetings. The Reaper is sheepish, a bit meek, punished by management, not confident really. I don't think it's weird to see that the reaper slouches, the reaper seems like he's been beat up because he doesn't attend the prep meetings
Starting point is 00:00:35 to explain why this very important thing that we do every week requires his constant attention, his attention to the lines, and his attention to cheating, which he has been, you know, you know, he's not, he's, it's a very looks. Look man, this is a fireball offense. Okay, and if I didn't want, if I wasn't scared of the optics of firing the Reaper and sending him out of the street
Starting point is 00:00:58 in this media climate, he would have been fired for an assortment of offenses, including just attitude. So the optics, not your life, I mean, not in my life. Okay. I fear the bucket of death more than I fear actual death because it puts me in these ridiculous costumes. I tried two of them on. I've got to do a Captain Hook one and my wife is very disappointed with how flimsy and shitty the fabric is and it's embarrassing what what the costume is. So you're very upset. Yeah, my wife and I are very upset.
Starting point is 00:01:25 We both like the costumes to be pristine and sensual. And the F1 costume is not much of a costume. It's just sweats and a helmet that's way too tight for me to successfully do the show with the helmet on. Like the Rocky sweats? No, they're not. No. And I don't think those those sweats would be tied on me anymore.
Starting point is 00:01:45 They would be. I'm not totally sure, maybe in my shoulders, but I saw you shirtless, not but last week. I'm just glad you finally admitted how much you liked the costumes, because we've all known it. Yeah, I know. I look, man, I've been in hiding in front of the audience for two damn years. It's time to be free. It's time to be free. It's time to let go.
Starting point is 00:02:06 Now we got our power back. It's not just Jeremy with his shitty jokes. Lucy is making big splashes every city she lands in. She is headed to the SEC championship. Splash. That's a giant one. You have the situation where Georgia, which is beaten three top 20 teams by like a combined 120 to 40 can lose on a neutral field Alabama by one and
Starting point is 00:02:46 Maybe not be in the playoffs, but this one feels like it's for the whole ball of wax. You're right I mean, I mean we need Alabama if we want the chaos theory you need Alabama. Yes You need Alabama to win because there is a situation in which everyone's gonna do what Sugazzo is as put so much stock on taking down Georgia, especially if you're Alabama, but you can't ignore what Texas did to Alabama. If they win a close game, someone and they don't put in Texas, someone in that committee has to look Steve Sarkeesian right in the eye and say you didn't make it right in the eye. Go right up to him. It is office. It's a hey.
Starting point is 00:03:19 I know you be Texas, most valuable win in the sport at Tuscaloosa, but you're not in. If they win, there's a world we don't have a single SEC team in the playoffs. It's crazy. The last video that we have, are we ready to unveil it? Before America, it is ready. It takes curation. It takes days of gentle, gentle care. Lucy cried on the airplane on the way to the game.
Starting point is 00:03:40 I did. She went to Michigan Ohio State. Let's see what happened. Hi Dan, it's me Lucy and I'm here in Ann Arbor, Michigan. You can probably tell with the big giant M right there, we're here for the game. Ohio State Michigan. And you know what I'm here for? Not for content, to steal science for Iowa. Yeah Michigan, you're not the only one. You're not the only one.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Unless the Michigan Athletic Department is watching this and that was just a silly little joke. Why do you hate Ohio State? Because going to college to sell pizza for a living is not a fucking degree. Why doesn't anyone hate Ohio State would be the better question they're annoying? Because they suck, the suck eyes. They're the worst losers on the planet.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Entitled, terrible attitude, whiny, just a giant pan. I hate the whole state of Ohio just in general. When you play in a state in a shape like a toilet seat, it's a sh** hole. Because they like nuts. Your mascot's a nut. And who has a state in a shape like a toilet sink, it's a sh**hole. Because they like nuts. Your mascot's a nut. And who has a mascot of a nut? But they're never gonna reach us.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Ever, ever, ever, and they hate it. Ohio State fans, why do you hate Michigan? Errogant, pompous. You are born and you hate Michigan, and then you are raised to hate Michigan, and then you go to Ohio State and you hate Michigan. Cheaters, liars. So if I heard this correct, we just to hate Michigan and then you go to Ohio State and you hate Michigan. Cheaters, liars. So if I, if I heard this correct,
Starting point is 00:05:07 we just always hate Michigan. That's always the best. How do you feel about Jim Harbaugh, not coaching today? I wish he was here. I'm gonna be sick. Free gym. Free Harbaugh. Free gym.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Yeah, free Harbaugh. Free gym Harbaugh. Back to the NFL he goes. I would like to know where Jim Harboh is right now. You hear those sirens? They were coming for Jim. Hey, Jimmy! What do you think Connor Stallions has been up to the last few weeks?
Starting point is 00:05:33 I know he hasn't been laying low. He's Connor Stallions. Oh, he's hiding. Connor Stallions needs a statue out in the front of Michigan state. Do processes out of the question and stacks you're out in front of Michigan State? Do processes out of the question and something like that is a piece of f***. Are you nervous about having to play I won the Big 10 Championship game potentially? No. No.
Starting point is 00:05:55 I wasn't even nervous when Kate Beckham were in the air call with there. Herfus. Oh, ball, I? Are you there team beach I won by 40 next weekend? Who? Who was I? Who was I? I'm Dave.A.
Starting point is 00:06:05 We just have to kick a field goal, maybe, you guys. I don't know why they keep laughing when I ask that question. I'm now remotely. So, cut the camera. I can tell they're all really scared of playing the island next week. I'm gonna be on, what's the little Brad's actually? Love is you give all our dreams! Do you wanna be on the damn Levitar show? That's a f***ing loopy. Have you guys ever heard of the damn Levitar show with two guys? Yeah, it's a religiously ass day.
Starting point is 00:06:52 I'm beyond this, I don't know who this is. I read the microphone and I knew right away. Okay, do you guys watch the show? No. Not, no. Only because of you. We're beyond the Levitar show. Oh, yeah!
Starting point is 00:07:03 They just took a picture with me thinking, hey, it works for the damn Patrick show. Who is your favorite person on the show? That would of you. Be on the levittar job. Oh yeah! They just took a picture with me thinking, hey, works for the Dan Patrick's job. Who is your favorite person on the show? That would be you. Charts. Jess needs some more misogynistic fame. Like we need some more of that character. Do you have to go with Dan? No.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Although with you, I like your content. Let's go with you, okay? I can't film anything here. Dan, I don't know if you've ever tried to film a stand up. Here's a playing game. Let's go, let's go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, I'm going to miss it so much. Of course we're going to the SEC Championship game next week because we're not going to the other one. The one in the NINAAPLUS and you know what while we're at it, I just want to say we shouldn't forget about Michigan sign ceiling. Shouldn't forget about it.
Starting point is 00:07:51 And I think the only fair punishment is for them to forfeit the big 10 championship game. This video was brought to you by LiquidIV. Rehydrate like an athlete on game day and wake up feeling refreshed tomorrow. You can use code Lucy for 20% off at liquidiv.com. That's code Lucy. LUCY. You smell any different? You're wrong. Billy, Billy Gil. Where's everyone? It's just me. It's Cody. They don't send anyone else to this stuff.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Greg Cody, why are you laughing about the code Lucy? Five dollars for, sorry or your voice into the mike yes or about that did we wake you up from a slumber no i was enjoying the hell out of that what a great video uh... by lucy awesome that was the end of it that was the end of it even though it's not ending
Starting point is 00:08:36 yeah i don't know why i said that was a personal going and i think i've been to the issue of this week army navy bowl season will do stuff after that I haven't figured out. There was a great suggestion in there. I would be willing to build Michigan a Conner Stallion statue if they win the National Championship.
Starting point is 00:08:52 I will make it an ornate wonderful thing. Like expensive, I'm willing to do that if Michigan wins the championship. Is he gonna be dressed as a CMU staffer? He has to be, yes. But it would be made of a material that would make Michigan men proud. We will do this. Yes.
Starting point is 00:09:08 I'm offering to fund a project on behalf of Metal Arc Media to build Michigan a Conor Stallion statue that I will insist be put in a prominent place on campus and it will unlike some of the other. You need approval for that. Statue and miscarbonus that people argue over. Yeah, we're going to need a lot of money to do it. Pure bronze. It's expensive.
Starting point is 00:09:30 We're a Michigan fan celebrating beating Ohio State or that they get to face Iowa. They were, they found out very quickly that I was an Iowa fan on the field and that was not a pleasant experience for me. I won't say they're my favorite fan base I've ever interacted with. If Michigan forfeited it would be a tie. Yeah, we must. I'd take it. This God for Sakin' thing brought to you by Kentucky Fried Chickens, too, for $5 chicken wraps.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Now a new Mac and cheese, classic and spicy slow. That's right. Chicken wraps are back, a KFC. It's finger-looking good. I got the Baltimore Ravens, who were on a buy this week. A lot of buys. A lot of buys, this week.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Congratulations. I like them in that one. We've got Greg Cody. That is a joke that's been made since the buy was invented and the same fake chuckle that Coho's have been given for years. We like to party my teammate. That's all we won the buy the buy week was not a lot rummaging we got stugots and Cody today I had to cough. No one had an excellent news. No one heard it. I know what the five men had never paid.
Starting point is 00:10:48 No, just dead air. Just dead air. Hey, he's supposed to fill the gaps man. Support your teammate. That's the lamp is for. That's right. Gabin it. That's right.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Fill in your gaps for 20 years. All we heard was. Hell yeah. I got the cardinals. The cardinals are at the Steelers. Yeah, five and a half point dog. Greg, you can have that T-shirt fill in your gaps for 20 years. I got it.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Yes, get on it, Chris. Yeah, I think butter is better. The merch store is coming out again this week. This week? Wait, Tasha. We got a store, a bit of T-shirt ideas out there. I got a blue helmet Lion siders your bears bears are on a bike. Oh
Starting point is 00:11:41 That's do guts already has the rummage like that's the end of the rummage. No, you didn't He You started doing it this easier. You got to spend doing it for five years. Oh, the bears! How did I get the bear? Everyone get the bear! Yeah! It's a live highway! Where's Billy and Tony? Wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Yeah! The bears, and that's not good for anyone. I like the bears in that one. It's good for us. The bears. Oh. The bears. The bears, the key to that is to make the S a C. The bears. What?
Starting point is 00:12:11 Like that. The bears. The bears. The S becomes a C. But cares. The bears. It's just clearly an S at the S. No, it's a C. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Bears is an S is sort of a Z sound. Right. A C is like, dumb bears. Like that. I got a seminar on that if anybody sees you. I don't have proof that I'll show with the stugas. Gamble on by draft Kings. The Dan Laptard show was to got to sponsor by BetterHelp. I heard the hotel industry is moving away from providing shampoo and soap. Oh, they're gonna throw away the soap. I'm not even talking about that. I'm talking about the sheets and I'm talking about the towels. Stugats. Oh, we really care about the environment.
Starting point is 00:13:47 So please, hang up your towels and get out of here. You just don't want to wash these towels. Because it's going to cost you money to wash these towels. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it.
Starting point is 00:13:57 You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. You're going to have to pay for it. I'm talking about the sheets and I'm talking about the towels. Still gots. Oh, we really care about the environment.
Starting point is 00:14:05 So please, hang up your towels and get out of here. You just don't want to wash these towels because it's going to cost you money to wash these towels. All right, this whole thing about you're saving the whales or you're saving the turtles or whatever because I put my towel on a hanger. It is so full of it. All right, you just don't want to give me fresh towels
Starting point is 00:14:20 every day. Just call it what it is. Tell me you don't want to give me fresh towels. I'm still going to throw it on the floor. All right, I feel like water is a renewable resource and you're not really saving the ocean by using water to clean my towel. Are you? Am I missing something? What am I missing? Am I missing something? The end of the story.
Starting point is 00:14:35 This is the Dalébatá show with its two cats. The last time we saw this man, one of the most credible information insiders in the history of the game, he was trying to sell us a bill of goods that his natural scent was just coming out of the gym and wonderful and we found out that it was a fragrance, a $92 serum, the investigative work of Luzzi, an up and coming journalists as opposed to this washed uh... lying jay glazer you're the one who exposed him as being the user of serums correct yes and you say journalism is dead that it is not dead i know sports illustrated has artificial intelligence but
Starting point is 00:15:18 we've got real intelligence here lucy uh... you are still feeling the shame of this right jay i've got a number of football questions but it is now known throughout the galaxy that your wife knows how to make you smell wonderfully and expensively while you, her husband, think somehow it's his natural musk. Well, first of all, I think it's now been labeled surrog gate. It's never been good to be part of a gate. And however, it's fiancee, not my husband and wife yet. I still have time to screw this up.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Okay, I'm rooting for you. It's me, I screw it up. Well, I'm gonna get to the football in a second, but I do believe in the idea, man, Jay's been through some shit. He's crawled through some dark. And Jay, Jay can talk about love in a way that, I mean, your fiance has taught you some things.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Oh my God. You know, the best thing my fiance Rosie's done for me. So you're a lot of times people like me when you have this like depression anxiety, you don't feel you're worthy of love. So you try to sabotage it. You try to screw it up and you push people away because like the living in question of when it's going to end is almost more painful than it ended. So you force it to end and I've done that with every relationship where Rosie Tennyson has been amazing for me is she is told me every time I've had one of these meltdowns, hey, I'm not going anywhere. I got you.
Starting point is 00:16:47 That's really the first person who's ever done that for me. And the other thing is when you do it, you feel so much shame that you act like such a jackass. And that usually lasts for you for a while. She has such short-term memory, and within 10 minutes, she really convinces me like, no, babe, it's over, it's good. I understand you.
Starting point is 00:17:06 I get it, I totally understand it. And Rosie's done a lot of work on herself too and she's gone through a lot also. And Rosie, I think, has lived to help out everybody else. So she's perfect for me, man. And it's been great. We just had a great week in New York. We have to light up the Empire State,
Starting point is 00:17:23 probably me and Jimmy Johnson and Kurt Manifield brought Rosie up there with for New Yorker. Man, that's a bucket list man. It was it was pretty cool man. Take her back to my home. That's so awesome. Jay, let me paint a picture for you. Okay. Just give me your. Hold on. What happened there? You guys didn't like you didn't see the sincerity in that? Yeah. No, you were it felt like a transition. I mean, what else do I say? It's so awesome. I mean, you can see a little bit more sincere like a transition. I mean what else do I say? It's so awesome It just seemed I think Chris Jay that's so awesome. It really is You guys know what's question my man, what's some good exactly? openly and be vulnerable about this no one's gonna call me once so that's why I think more dudes need to do this
Starting point is 00:18:01 Like every time I've told you guys, and Dan has got us close together, as you talk like dudes never talk like this to each other. And every time I've talked like this with my, dude, we have dudes on the planet, the most savage freaking killers there are, and just brought us all closer together. That's great. Now Jay, let me paint this picture for you.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Okay? So listen, your fiance, your fiance goes outside, right? And it's a little bit colder than normal, okay? She's walking the dog. When she comes back inside, should she tell you, hey, it's cold, wear a sweatshirt. Where are we going? It's not a trick question.
Starting point is 00:18:38 Greg Cody has mad at his wife because it's 59. It was 59 degrees here this morning. His wife went out, went to work, and he he thinks he's furious with her that she had an Obligation a responsibility to call I know you're distrustful right now Jay, man He's suspicious of you right now, it's too guys. He thinks you're making fun of it. No Google and a weather app Jay you would tell her you would you would tell it chilly outside I'm a grown-up. Yeah, not your mom
Starting point is 00:19:14 I haven't do me the courtesy it's not our obligation. It would have been nice if she had said hey Rosie how cold is it outside? It was 65, I mean. You said open it and we're check yourself. That's a good point. I did like Jake Leyser. Jake Leyser, Bucking Up was, hey man, my fiance doesn't dress me, but that's her, I'm delightful.
Starting point is 00:19:35 That's her, that she gets me. But no way, hey, just to clarify something, you guys falsely accused me of wearing a calone. And just because I was, you know, Jersey and New York, I think you guys think I'm still the jujurekaron new r guy. I'm not. So that was false information. So I was saying, I don't wear cologne. I just happen to use this other beautiful skin moisturizer stuff that works with my natural fibres. It does work. It does. There's no dispeing. A greater truth has never been told. It absolutely works. I was lightheaded and Confused when you came in because you smelled so delightful. I want I want to get to some football stuff with you
Starting point is 00:20:15 Can we actually keep quarterbacks healthy because Cleveland is now on its third one. It's gonna be Joe Flacco or fourth one. Excuse me fourth one Yeah, no, it's it's a difficult and I don't know, it's gonna be Joe Flacco, or fourth one, excuse me, fourth one. Yeah, no, it's a difficult, and I don't know if it's because a line help is just not as good, I'm not really sure what it is. I think we've had, I don't think this is something that suddenly, oh my gosh, there's definitely a lot of quarterback shirt this year,
Starting point is 00:20:40 but there was last year, the year before that, you're before that, we've talked about this for while every year teams When you have these injuries people say oh my gosh, why are there so many injuries this year? First of all to violent game, all right, that's the bottom line. It's a violent game and I think we love it because it's a violent game That's number one number two. What's interesting also just about let's say offensive lineman But it's interesting also, just about let's say offensive lineman. O lineman, I remember Bruce Iyer and still me when he had, would get working offensive lineman, he said I almost have a different practice for them because these guys have never been
Starting point is 00:21:12 in the three point stance, never really been in the huddle. Everything from pop-worn to high school to college, there's all you're looking over on a sign over there and you're looking at signs or, you know, these, these big placards up there and it's not the same way in the NFL. So I just think finding those offers of alignment, even like look, trade deadline, everybody wants an offensive lineman. There's none.
Starting point is 00:21:32 No one's given up offensive lineman because it's just, I don't think the quality of those offers of lineman are probably what they used to be. And that's why you see guys also like Trent Williams and Lane Johnson and Jason Kelsey, who are old school gags or type of guys still at the top of their game after all these years, you know, those old
Starting point is 00:21:51 school guys who are starting around as much anymore. Jay, you know, though, that this evolution, like when they compare football to war and stuff and make this stuff about survival of the fittest and they're all fighting over money and where the advantages are, we're making defensive linemen who can't be blocked. We're making defensive linemen who are going to injure you when you try to block them and are going to injure your quarterback. The Raven said what happened with Burrow. The Ravens put their name on.
Starting point is 00:22:16 When you play us, that can happen to your quarterback. We're going to break this wrist. Like that's what... Yeah, but I don't... I don't think it's... No, look at like those old giants with Lawrence terror letter Marshall and Carl Banks and and Harry Carson no and those old 49ers and the Raiders defense were very long and they'll Pittsburgh Steelers defenses no I don't
Starting point is 00:22:36 think it's smaller but smaller right these are smaller human beings they're smaller training like half of them now they're smaller you're training like half of you're smaller training like half of them now. They're smaller. You're training like half of You know how much bigger you know how much bigger miles is no I'm saying that how we long is smaller that the players from that age who are hitting the Ford is that smaller? I'm not compared to today. I'm not saying small under most circumstances I'm talking bigger back at first of all I back then. First of all, I think players are, it's interesting. Back in a day, you know, when I started coming to giants in 93, you would see guys coming in as league. And yeah, that modern medicine was,
Starting point is 00:23:15 was really rampant in the NFL. And I think nowadays guys don't have to actually juice like they used to because of the supplement business and because of how much you now know about what you could do for certain foods and different supplements and different vitamins. You don't have to do it, but I think back in the day, oh guys, we're coming to the league now. We're like freaking four four heads coming out. You can meet. Now, I think they're, they're, they're monsters back then. Jay, where do you think Bill Balochack's going to be coaching next year? You know, it's interesting.
Starting point is 00:23:45 If we had this conversation five years ago, all three, and I told you guys this last time I was with you, all 32 teams would be lined up. And it's just not the case anymore, like, the style of beating dudes down, don't work anymore, don't check. And the reason why I think a lot of it is this right here because guys are going to locker and they're getting beat down constantly. Right. I just had this talk with with my head coach recently. He said, no, we're good about keeping everything inside our, you know, everything inside here.
Starting point is 00:24:16 I said, dude, there is no more inside here. You may think it's kept in your building. When these guys go to their phones, nothing's kept inside anymore. That old school mentality doesn't work. You can't just say, oh, there's no noise in our building. When these guys go to their phones, nothing's kept inside anymore. That old school mentality doesn't work. You can't just say, oh, there's no noise in our building. There's noise in your building because what these guys see on their phones, you can say as much as you want, oh, get off social media, but not off social media. It just doesn't happen. So I think guys get beat down so much. Now when you have guys like my Tom and it loves you up or my Dan, you see who loves you up or Dan Campbell who loves you up for Sean McVeg who loves you or my co-canons who loves you or Dan Campbell who loves you for Sean McVeget who loves you that's what's working more in the NFL than the old school way of
Starting point is 00:24:52 where you're just gonna beat you down and tell you what a moron you are I don't think that that style works and look you just saw what Joshua Daniels out of the Raiders right and those guys are attempting plus players have more power now than they ever have. They have a bigger voice than they ever had. So we asked where Bill Bellicex is going to go. You know, I just think the league has changed where you
Starting point is 00:25:13 know, five years ago, every team will be lining up for Bill Bellicex. Now I think they're going to look at it and say, Oh, man, he's definitely a draw. He's definitely great. He however does need a good
Starting point is 00:25:23 personnel guy with them. Is there personnel decisions have not been good? We've got less than a minute left here Jay, but we'll come back with you to talk some other football things. I what you just described though Jay is how you would describe a game passing someone by. It's not in the X's and O's though it can happen there too. It's not even in the front office though it can happen there too. You're saying today's players will not connect with the greatest coach we've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:25:50 You're saying his style is now out, his style is outdated. They connect with Domingo Ryan's, they do. The buyers do. But you get Ryan's, so they connect with Domingo Ryan's. Absolutely. They connect with Daniel. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:26:02 They connect with Dan Campbell, right? They'll tie for Dan Campbell. And that's, you know, I told Dan this. I said, dude, the reason why you're so great and what works for you is there's so little authenticity in these cats lives now because of social media. Because they're comparing themselves to everybody else's freaking Instagram and Facebook and filtered fraction of a second of highlights and people are tweeting out, listen, when you get tweeted at, it could be some 10 year old kid in a month's basement,
Starting point is 00:26:32 it's still just as loud as a 32 year old guy, who's an executive, you don't know. When you have a guy like Dan Campbell who really shown that he loves these guys as authentic and a lot of guys need that, they need that love, they need that fatherly love in it in a way, that big brother loving away. That's how Bill Balochek was doing, right? And those are genius when it comes to game planning. There's nothing like but the same time now these guys just need a different culture than they have in the
Starting point is 00:27:00 past. Jay, we're going to come back with you right after this. Don Lebatard, you keep mentioning Lou Harris and William is in Montreal, Harris, you keep mentioning Harold, Harold, excuse me, Stu got snake. Thank you so much for being on with us, really enjoy your work. Thanks for having me. Have a great day. This is the Don Lebatard show with this two got. This is the Don Lebertar Show with this two gods. J, instead of bombarding you with our curiosities, and I will tell the people, as I've told them before, the J Glazer has dedicated his life to mental health work.
Starting point is 00:27:36 He is the host of the Unbreakable Podcast. He is the author of Unbreakable, How I Turn My Depression and Anxiety and the Motivation and You Can, too, all of which is nice, all of which is sweet, it's syrupy, it is light, it's not wise here. He's here to talk football. He's here because we need football information. Instead of asking you the questions that we're curious about, what this week in football has been the most interesting stuff to you. A timeline sped up in Carolina that means you get one years ahead goats that's 12 games we have not seen that.
Starting point is 00:28:07 And it's the same thing over and over and over and it was actually talk to David Tepper about this at the the shoot really this year at the commissioners ball. I get really frustrated and actually Rosie's great with me because she she she she calms down you know the old glaze that pops out way too much. But I started this to him and other owners. I always tell these owners that look, would you trust Mike Taunlin, Sean Payton, Sean McVeigh, Kyle Shanahan to run your business?
Starting point is 00:28:37 And they say, oh no, absolutely totally different. I go, then why do you think you can make a second round pick? It's the same thing. Let your people do their things. And, you know, what happens with owners also, and I know what happened in Carolina is they had such a bad experience with Bat Rule. And, you know, Madagascar in there hire a lot of his friends. Just didn't, they, there was so much animosity down there. They, what owners do is then they go and they try and hire the complete opposite. So if they have a guy in there that thinks it's a tyrant is then they go and they try and hire the complete opposite. So if they have a guy in there that thinks it's a tyrant, then they go and try and hire
Starting point is 00:29:08 a bambi. And when bambi doesn't work, they go back and try and hire a tyrant. Same thing happens with, oh, we need an offensive coach or a defensive coach. And that's where they messed up also. I know they're going to look at it now, go, we need an offensive coach to develop our quarterback. No, man, what you need is a culture guy. You need a culture guy.
Starting point is 00:29:26 Somebody who builds your culture of winning. That's why John Harbor wins every year, from my Tomlin wins every year. That's why Kyle Shatton and wins every year. That's why, you know, and look for a wild Bill Belichick and a certain culture in there. And that's why you win over and over and over. But now no one wants that culture guy. You know how you're telling us the greatest guy because Mac Jones is his quarterback that But now no one wants that culture guy. You know how you're telling us the greatest guy because Mac Jones is his quarterback that Bella check the ultimate culture maker. Now that's not the thing that works anymore.
Starting point is 00:29:51 I understand what you think, Matt. Well, that type of, you know what? That old school coaching used to work. I ran, and I told you guys that crazy Rennie Katoor story last time. Randy told me a great coaching thing a few years ago, because when we were coaching our fighters I'd get mad at shit and I would jump all over these guys I'm like holy f**k how many times I got to tell you don't drop your hands and
Starting point is 00:30:12 Randy said we can't tell them that anymore. Only tell them what you want. You can't tell them what you don't want anymore. I was like what? He's like you can't tell them what you don't want anymore. Only tell him, don't tell him anymore, don't drop your hands. Now only tell him, keep your hands up. It's just changed. But that, but it goes back to, you know, and Ken Carolina, you have certain, you know, owners that once they, they've meddled too much, it's, they got to kind of look at themselves and they don't, because they think, just because I started this business over here, means I'll be great at this business.
Starting point is 00:30:47 That doesn't really make any sense for anything else in life. Like just because you run a great bank, doesn't mean you could run a great restaurant. Totally different. Can't be a great chef, just because you run a great back. Jay, because he's a medicine owner, because they don't have a first round pick,
Starting point is 00:31:04 because they have the quarter back, the the wrong quarterback from last year's draft, it sounds crazy. But are they going to have a hard time hiring a head coach? No, they won't, because everybody, it's still, and people who say that, you know, these young coaches a lot of times, I will say say this they did want Ben Johnson last year with a line and What I love about Ben Johnson who I think is the only really big offensive coach right now That's why I think you have other culture type of guys out there that you know Luana Ramo from from the Bengals and you know Dan Quinn Obviously and Jeff will break from the from the jets like the culture type of guys But Ben was like hey, I'm not ready yet,
Starting point is 00:31:48 which I love. Like none of these guys say, I'm not ready yet. They jump with the chance. So normally people will jump in a chance for a head coaching job, even if it looks terrible. I remember when the Saints were ironed, Sean Payton back in the day, they were in the middle of Hurricane Katrina,
Starting point is 00:32:04 they were displaced, and yet guys were still lining up for that job. Sean Payton back in the day. They're in middle of Hurricane Katrina. They're displaced. And yet guys who are still lining up for that job. So, and I think that every coach looks in and goes, I'll be able to turn that place around. I'll be fine with that owner. Jay, we saw it again Monday night. Scoring in the NFL is at a decades long low. Every week, over-unders in the 30s, low 30s.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Does the NFL have a problem? And how do you fix it? No, I don't think that's a problem at all. Like, you like that? Yeah, I mean, I love, I'm all school, again, I grew up kind of giant fans of us, just always love running in the defenses, man. I love it.
Starting point is 00:32:41 I love spam, football, who like that. Okay, you know, I love good defenses, but I do think a lot of the problem too is, yeah, I mean, guys, you're looking like Minnesota. It is ridiculous to think that Josh Dobbs came in there a couple weeks ago, didn't know anybody or any of the plays, was still able to win a game. Like it's ridiculous. And I don't think that there is enough for those, you know, enough depth there
Starting point is 00:33:08 at the quarterback position. And I think there's a lot of it is, look, you know, we see Bryce, there's a lot of guys like that size in college, right? And no one goes there. But Bryce is just so kind of advanced here between the years and I know you don't see it here, but he was like, here's a coach out there and like his preparation.
Starting point is 00:33:31 But because there's so many other sized guys in college that succeed, nobody really wants them playing quarterback in the NFL, they move them to another position. She don't have that same depth coming in or the NFL, and that's why you're going to have a problem. I know they're trying to protect these quarterbacks, but also like listen guys, no one really spars anymore. No one touches each other. And I know, you know, this, I say this and some players agree, some players don't agree, but man, like, you're going to fight, you've got a spar, you've got to get your body ready, and no one's allowed to touch each other anymore, so I do think there's a lot more injuries
Starting point is 00:34:06 because your body's just not ready for it. You're talking about practice, but tell me what you think of Boomer Asias in saying that the Jets miss out on free agents because no one wants to play on that turf. No, but then the Giants were too. Yep. No, I think, well, Jets didn Justin really missed out on free agents this past year, but I don't think that's the case at all. I think that a lot goes into free agent.
Starting point is 00:34:35 I kind of look at also like, first of all, Miami dolphins, no state tax here, Miami, they should have their picket litter wherever they go. Some of the Dallas Cowboys Right like no state tax great place all that there's on a cardinal should be out Scott sales phenomenal Right, they should be out recruit everybody. I think it's kind of incredible. Some of these teams get the free agents to come there Especially you see guys, you know, go to some of these cold weather teams especially when you see guys, you know, go to some of these cold weather teams, he shows you that they think that they're part of a turnaround, but you know,
Starting point is 00:35:10 I don't think the guys are looking at it saying, man, I'm not going to go there because of that turf, because that tells the case guys when we go on the giant tolls. What else did you find interesting this week outside of Carolina? Was there something going on with you in the Giants? Oh, I mean, the Giants, yeah, I just put out that there was, you know, it's so fun. I put out something about Brian Dable and with Martin L and there'll be a bad tension there. And I don't know if it's going to last the rest of this, the relationship, the rest of the season and anything is going to happen next year either.
Starting point is 00:35:43 I kind of got killed by a bunch of, you know, giant people and giant fans. And listen, I've been coming to giants half a 31 years. I don't get shit wrong when it comes to the giants. And I remember a few years ago breaking that, you know, the giants were going to trade Odele Beckham. And I got murdered for it. And you got to look at my tweet that I sent as a result of me getting murdered for it And people just you know just whenever I say something about the giants People get so damn angry at me and I'm always like do you guys get this pissed off when you keep coming from with a deon as a Report card. No, but also my you know I'm
Starting point is 00:36:22 I'm very very thorough in what I do. And I didn't do anything bad about either car. I'm like, hey, these two just need to, there's too much friction, there's too much tension. I don't know if they could go up this, they're good for each other if they can, but it's shame that it's kind of gotten to this level. And I thought it was interesting,
Starting point is 00:36:43 they gave Wink the Game Ball right after that and all that. Those, it was an interesting thing. And everybody, you know, these fans started telling me, oh yeah, great tension there, Jake. Ladies, when they gave them the game ball, I don't just put stuff out, gang, that, you know, is a, I hear say. Oh, giant, the Giants fans, he dismissed you with a gang.
Starting point is 00:37:02 And he said, I don't get shit wrong. Giants fans, you need to back off right not here Not on this one if you want to come after him on other teams. Oh, you don't get them wrong there either I don't give that shit wrong But I'm not but no but especially not there 30 years at the 31 year 31 year murdered more by giant fans and they are friends of my god I've been here since 93 and I haven't got anything wrong all these years man Can't give me a little why don't give me a little grace here, but if you don't want to
Starting point is 00:37:31 That's fine. That's fine.
