Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey folks, it's Mike Ryan and if you're watching our show, you've probably known your boy has undergone a little bit of a body transformation and I gotta tell ya Peloton has helped me on my fitness journey. It got the ball rolling for me because I watch my wife on the Peloton, she takes all these great classes, she has her favorite instructors, I listen to the music, I'm a big music guy, gets me fired up, makes me want to take part in this fitness phenomenon known as Peloton. Peloton offers a variety of challenging classes from four-week strength building classes to running cycling and everything in between. Peloton will help you achieve your goals and maybe you'll have some fun
Starting point is 00:00:36 along the way. I know I have. It's backed by thousands of members whose lives have been changed. Be part of that group. Telling you I'm better for it, having it in my office. Sometimes I can put on the baseball game, sometimes I can put on a soccer match, some other times I'm totally locked in on an emo playlist. Find your push. Find your power with Peloton at OnePeloton.com. This is the Dan LeBattor Show with the Stugats Podcast. This is the Don LeBattor Show with the StuGuts Podcast. Ron McGill has shown up. Thank you. I don't want to keep him waiting anymore.
Starting point is 00:01:14 I think the last couple of weeks he's been rabid with rage, so I'm happy to see him less temperamental right now. What is behind you right now, Ron? In the office that you're in, what is the artifact that you uh... that you're most excited about or uh... that means something to you anything nothing really is a cold right there is always there's my the sting with the long list university of florida well congrats
Starting point is 00:01:39 uh... we're proud of that uh... congrats is that better like where does that rank the greatest of the honors that you have received in your career as an ambassador? Is it the Hot Dog Hall of Famer or is it a University of Florida thing? Very close to each other, but I guess I'm gonna have to give UF a little bit of a nudge on that one.
Starting point is 00:01:58 That was something that I carried a huge chip on my shoulder because I never actually graduated from the school. So for them to give me a distinguished alumnus award Which I think they've only given 150 out in the history of the school that was pretty big for me How about the change maker award at the Blue Gala just a couple of weeks ago? Well, just having Mike Ryan be the emcee for that prestigious event just made that award that much more prestigious for me Ron are you a Panthers fan because I haven't been able to get my Cuban friends over to this team. Uh, Tony, what?
Starting point is 00:02:29 Dan, I saw the start of the game and then my kids started crying and then I didn't watch. I'm not my Cuban friends. I cannot persuade them to watch this sport. Oh, I listen. I love the Panthers, but only in person. But watching hockey on television for me, it was like watching soccer on television. It just doesn't do anything for me. But when I watch it in person, my gosh, you know, the same
Starting point is 00:02:48 thing with NASCAR. You go to NASCAR, watching it on television, it's just a bunch of cars going in a circle. You watch it in person, it is just so intense. And that's what hockey is to me. Hockey is, I would say hockey is probably my favorite sport of all to watch in person. I'm going to Talladega this weekend, and I've been told as someone that's been close to the cars in Homestead and feeling the power in your chest that there is it feels like Armageddon is circling by you every lap at Talladega because it's a super speedway. This is going to be my first super speedway race. What are the details? It's the camper, what detail?
Starting point is 00:03:25 Are you gonna, is it a content opportunity? Yeah, yeah, no, DraftKings actually, this whole thing came about because DraftKings knew that I wanted to go and they made something happen very late for my friends and I, so I'm gonna be out there giving some picks. I'm camping out the entire weekend at Talladega Super Speedway,
Starting point is 00:03:41 going to the Justin Moore concert, gonna hang out with the Alabama football team at the Xfinity Series. I'm super excited about this because like I said, it's a Super Speedway going to the Justin Moore concert, gonna hang out with the Alabama football team at the Xfinity Series. I'm super excited about this because like I said, it's a super speedway. This Talladega, for me, everyone feels a certain way about the brickyard and feels a certain way about Daytona. The Talladega race is the most unpredictable race.
Starting point is 00:03:57 It's the most dangerous race. You're gonna probably have several big ones there. Super Speedway racing is quite random. It's just pure chaos. But also, the big draw for Talladega is it is the biggest party in the circuit. People will show their buttholes if you ask them to. Okay, that's unnecessary.
Starting point is 00:04:15 Asking them might be unnecessary because they just spread the word. It's an odd ask. It's about the buttholes. I'm telling you, this is a thing. I've said this on so many corporate zoom. Okay, what's the deal with the buttholes and everyone's like yes No, it's a thing. That's not an inappropriate question to ask. Okay. Thank you. Thank you for nothing Thank you boy, yeah, Greg Chris you told me that somebody on the Boost Mobile hotline accused your father of something that I did not hear yesterday. Can you play that for me, please?
Starting point is 00:04:52 Hey guys, Zach from Coconut Creek. I had jury duty with Greg Cody in August last year and I caught him sitting there reading his own book. I'll hang up and listen. Is that true? August of last year. Jury duty. Reading your own book. It's very possible.
Starting point is 00:05:12 You know one way to avoid being caught reading your own book. Listen to my own book. You're saying something to Bill, huh? I hear it's a very good book. Hey, well, you know, I think that was just a very sly move on Greg's part to promote the book. I mean people say hey, that's great Cody. What's he reading? Hey, I got to read that because you know, that's just that's just sly marketing on my part. Congrats, Greg. I think you did a great job.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Thank you Ron and people who don't write for a living probably don't know this but when I write, when I read a column I've written, even though I wrote it and know what it says I don't need to read it, when I read that column I've written, even though I wrote it and know what it says, I don't need to read it, when I read that column, I try to read it as a reader is reading it, and I also read it for errors, I read it instructionally for a way I should have turned that phrase that I didn't and will might next time. So there's a value to that. When a book comes out, I read it for many of the same reasons. You know, is there any shame in reading your own book? I don't know. The caller implies so. I would say that there's shame in what Stugatz did, which is never read or write his own
Starting point is 00:06:14 book. I would say that there should be greater shame in that. Let me play a video here for Ron McGill. Again, Stugatz out with a toothache. We'll miss the draft. Can we get this octopus on the screen so that Ron McGill can tell us what's happening here? Is this an octopus, a jellyfish? What is this thing? This is, what, this is... That's an octopus. Actually, it looks like a type of squid,
Starting point is 00:06:40 to be honest with you, that's a squid. What is that? That's an odd, that is a ballet type movement. It's haunting and majestic and wonderful and weird. Like it's all of those things. I don't know the specifics of that, but it certainly looks like a type of squid to me. And you know, all of these types of animal squids,
Starting point is 00:06:59 octopus, they are incredible in their ability to camouflage themselves, to reshape themselves, to do things that people think would be impossible, but they make it possible. That's just one of the many wonders of nature, man. That's why I do what I do. You learn something new every day. What would you say like that though, Ron, in terms of just a beautiful video, a majestic dance?
Starting point is 00:07:20 Like if I'm saying to you something that feels spiritual in nature, you would say, what is the thing to the eye that most oz you visually? The dance of the mannequin bird. Watch the dance of the mannequin bird. It is such an incredibly beautiful, intense dance. The way he moves and shuffles back and forth on the branch and does this thing with his feathers, man, it's such a piece of work, such a work of art. It's unbelievable. Ron, we had a debate on the branch and does this thing with his feathers. Man, it's such a piece of work, such a work of art. It's unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:07:47 Ron, we had a debate on the show last week. Would you rather, for the rest of time, be able to understand every language in existence or to be able to understand what animals are saying? I feel like I know where you'll fall on this, but what would you be able to do with that information of being able to understand animals? Beating the witness, by the way.? Save the planet by the way. Yeah
Starting point is 00:08:07 Understanding the language of animals. I think I would learn a lot more Then I'm just understanding all the languages of people because I think animals know things are able to Perceive things that we are not and we would open a whole new channel of communication there that could open a whole new world For us Chris what is that? That's a no-brainer. What kind of question was that? I objected by the way. I objected. You led the witness. I knew the answer. When we were having this discussion last week and Ron's son walked through the room, I asked Sean, his son, hey, if your dad could be given one thing from earth above all others, wouldn't it be to be able to understand what
Starting point is 00:08:46 the animals are saying? He guessed yes. Is there anything that would go higher than that for you, Ron? The question would be to understand something, what I want to understand? To be able to be fluent with the animals, to understand their language. There's nothing that you would prize more than to be given that by Earth. You'd be able to be fluent with the animals to understand their language. There's nothing that you would prize more than to be given that by Earth. You'd be able to save the planet with that, wouldn't you? I think I would. Yeah, I think I would.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Wow. What? I would rather my dog understand what I'm saying than have him understand what, you know, I mean, Jumpin' Charlie, you know, don't do that. You know, don't pee there. You know, pee on the outside. Listen, I think he understands that, Greg. He just does it anyway. That's true.
Starting point is 00:09:31 You're very right. I do wish I could tell my dog, like, I'll be back in 20 minutes. Or like, I'll be back in a couple hours. Like, don't freak out. This is gonna be a longer trip. This is gonna be a shorter trip. I wish I could explain that part to her.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Yes, me too. But you know, you can explain that just a couple of reality is nobody's promise tomorrow and he just worries about you just like somebody else would worry you know you know you're taking your trips of where god knows what could happen did you just call i mean that's just something you know i was a very strong bonds so that they they they they know that anything can change in any minute
Starting point is 00:10:03 ron i want to read you a headline and you tell me how this is possible. Galapagos tortoises at Philadelphia Zoo become first time parents at nearly 100 years of age. That's possible because these animals can live, sometimes there's a belief that they can live in excess of 200 years of age. So, you know, if they didn't have the opportunity to connect earlier, well, you know, better late than never. It doesn't mean that they're infertile. People look at a hundred years of age. So, you know, if they didn't have the opportunity to connect earlier, well,
Starting point is 00:10:25 you know, better late than never. It doesn't mean that they're infertile. People look at a hundred years of age and say, oh my God, a human being wouldn't be able to have a baby at a hundred years of age. Well, a human being doesn't live to be 225 years either. So that's like saying, you know, a human had a baby at 50, which is not impossible. It's not, you know, it's not favored, favored, but it certainly is not impossible. It's not, you know, it's not favored, favored, but it certainly is not impossible. Okay. All right. So tortoises are still Randy at that age. Oh, the tortoises. I've seen tortoises Randy like, yeah, until they take their last breath,
Starting point is 00:10:54 at least the males. You haven't seen it to the last breath. So they're like humans. Okay. You haven't seen till the last breath. You haven't seen a turtle having sex, die. Can you imagine? Oh, geez, damn. You want to get into technicalities now? I mean, I've seen that. Let's say I've seen a turtle having sex
Starting point is 00:11:09 and then die the next day at over 100 years old. Ron, I read a story about giant squids a while ago. Well, I listened to a story about giant squids from David Grant, and it was about how, if you were able to find a live giant squid specimen, it would be one of the greatest scientific discoveries because we've only ever seen dead giant squids in terms of like things that haven't been discovered yet that we know are out there like animal species.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Is there anything more than the giant squid that would be, that would trump that as a scientific discovery? Well, the giant squid has been found. If you Google, you'll find video that they have got video of a giant squid in the very deep. It's a fleeting video, but it is a verified, true video of giant squid. So we have been able to see them.
Starting point is 00:11:54 We haven't been able to, because they occur at such depths that when they finally get to the surface, they are not able to survive. They need that pressure, I think, of the ocean at those great depths to survive. So we do see them sometimes when they wash up on the beach dead, but they have been filmed underneath the live.
Starting point is 00:12:08 As far as the missing animal, gosh, I don't know. There's so much talk now about the ivory-billed woodpecker, an animal that was deemed extinct many, many years ago that there have been some sightings in the swamps of Louisiana. And I know there are people that are dedicating their lives to trying to find that animal. So there's also some talk
Starting point is 00:12:26 about the Tasmanian wolf, you know, in Australia and New Guinea, that they've seen that. So I don't, there it is, see, I told you, that's the giant squid, they actually got some video of it. They're like 60 feet long, right? Yes, they're huge. They're actually one of the favorite foods of the sperm whale, which is of course a huge whale,
Starting point is 00:12:43 but that whale dives like a mile deep to get it. It's unbelievable. Ron, how smart is that creature? Do we have any idea? Do we have any information on what that creature living knows or can do? I don't think so. I don't think so. I think a lot of people speculate that they are very intelligent because they are, and I think it's the cephalopod family, which is the octopus and squids, which tend to be pretty intelligent in their ability to maneuver and adapt to their environment. The giant squid is of course this enormous animal. I mean, like I said, the sperm whale feeds on,
Starting point is 00:13:16 if you look at shots of sperm whales, sometimes you'll see these circular scars on their face, which are the suction pucks of the squid trying to save themselves while the sperm whale's trying to eat them. And they leave scars with these huge suction pucks on their face which are the suction pucks of the squid trying to save themselves while the sperm whales trying to eat them and they leave scars with these huge suction pucks on their faces fantastic stuff that is a great dismount good seeing you Ron thank you sir always nice seeing you a reminder to the audience you are Zoo Miami's greatest donor his substantive endowment you are responsible for more in the way of donations than any other group of people. So
Starting point is 00:13:46 Ron McGill's endowment is something that gets help straight to the animals. We will talk to you again next week, Ron, and let's do Against the Spread. That's right, it's time for... Against the Braves! And it's brought to you by our friends at DraftKings. DraftKings, the crown is yours. Roy, kick us off. Game two, Canadians at Capitals. The Capitals lead on a series one-nothing. The Montreal Canadiens have covered the puck line in the last six games against Eastern Conference opponents after coming off
Starting point is 00:14:28 overtime and they will again, they are one and a half gold underdogs tonight go with them against The Smithers! I like how Roy gives analytical advice and I give you vibes advice, right? So Houston Rock, it's game two. In Houston, they can't shoot as bad as they did last last game they can't Dan they can't shoot as bad as they did last game okay Jalen Green's not gonna play that bad Fred Van Vliet's not gonna play that bad the Rockets they're gonna come out with their hair on fire all right well that seems that be hard to play that way it's gonna be
Starting point is 00:15:02 hard to play but they are gonna play that way only minus three at home Okay against an older in the tooth longer in the tooth. Can you say older in the tooth or how does that work? I knew what you meant long long in the tooth They have old teeth too, but the Golden State Warriors are they gonna be able to compete with the Rockets? With the pace that they want to come out with I don't think so. I'm gonna take Houston minus three With the pace that they want to come out with I don't think so. I'm gonna take Houston minus three That old-timey music olden the tooth music Hey you in the audience, it's Mike. Starting point is 00:19:02 resources, see dkng.co. Don Lebatard. This guy comes in as the next Wayne Gretzky. His nicknames include the Chosen One and McJesus. Okay? He's a great player. He scores a lot of goals. He scores a ton of assists, but it hasn't translated to making Edmonton a powerhouse in the league.
Starting point is 00:19:24 They're in the final. Stugats. What's your nickname for them? McOva rated. This is the Don LeVatar Show with the Stugats. ["STUGATS"] I will always introduce this man the same way. You might know him 15 NBA seasons. You might know him three time NBA champion spurs, Raptors, Lakers.
Starting point is 00:19:56 You may think three pointers. Nope. Best defender in the open floor of LeBron James and Dwayne Wade that there has ever been. No one has ever been better at stopping the Dwayne Wade, LeBron James two-on-one fast break than a very confusing Danny Green. He has no accomplishment in his career better than that. Danny, good to see you. He's also the host of Inside the Green Room with Danny Green. But thank you for joining us. And forgive me for always doing that to you, but it's the best thing that you did.
Starting point is 00:20:29 You did nothing better than that. You were less good at three pointers than you were at that. I 100% agree, man. I appreciate you always having me on the show. So true honor. But yes, that's a hell of introduction. And the one that I took the most pride in. So I'm glad that I'm known for my defense and specifically that you know
Starting point is 00:20:48 I was a pretty decent shot blocker, but I was good at guessing and making the guessing the guessing game I guess on the two-on-one and fast break so thank you for reminding people that yes Were you offended last night watching Lakers and Timberwolves and seeing two teams shoot 20% from three I? Was not I mean it was ugly game and Timberwolves and seeing two teams shoot 20% from three? I was not. I mean, it was an ugly game. I mean, Legos came out hot and I think it ended up, I think their numbers ended up dropping toward the end of the game. But you know, today's it's weird that I'm saying today's NBA, but this year's playoffs
Starting point is 00:21:19 has been kind of ugly with low scoring, right? Even Golden State, Houston series was low scoring right even Golden State Houston series was low scoring even the Knicks Detroit series has except for the game one who else the other day was was not high Clippers Denver 105 102 so we haven't seen an abundance of scoring but 95 84 that's pretty ugly for the playoff so I mean I said I don't mind the not shooting great from three but we still want to see some you know some good actions some good basketball some scoring from the mid-range and we've we seen that from Kawhi we see that from you know Katie and other guys that do mid-range but yes definitely want to see some more scoring in these games if you had to bet and be right Kawhi will be
Starting point is 00:22:01 standing at the end of these playoffs healthy If I had to bet and be right Yes, that's Yes, I mean that's something that I definitely hope for him and I'm happy for him I have to see that he's playing and he's good in the book It's been a while since we've seen him healthy in the postseason We're trying to remember the last time that we've seen it. I remember the bubble and after that I'm trying to remember if he got through the postseason healthy. So that was five years ago, you know? If it's your money, it's hard to make that a probability.
Starting point is 00:22:31 It's hard to bet on that, is it not? Cause I'd like to. It is, but I put my money on it. He looks good right now. You know, in the past I would be like, cause, you know, he also took some games off this season. Like he, his body, I think has gotten the proper rest where they monitored because the other times that he got hurt in the postseason, he played the full seat or he played a good amount of the season. I think he took a right amount of games off this
Starting point is 00:22:53 season to be able to be fresh enough for the postseason. So I'll put my money on it. Danny, I've been trying to get this take off the ground and I cannot do it. Nobody will co-sign it with me. Nobody will allow it. I want to argue that Jokic is the best offensive player in the history of basketball. I could put him in the top five maybe. No co-sign on that. No co-sign. I don't think I can co-sign fully. I can put him in the top five because to me, and maybe I'm biased because I have to guard the big men, right? And I mean, we've seen Russ do triple-double thing, but scoring alone, like in my time, obviously I've seen, I've never played Michael Jordan, but he's number one at scoring.
Starting point is 00:23:43 And then for me, behind him was Kevin Durant and James Harden, just at scoring, because those guys can unbelievably score. And he can too, but he does more than just score. Hence the best offensive player. I'm doing all of it, efficiencies. All of it. I'm doing all of it.
Starting point is 00:24:00 It's not just score, the best, I mean, Shaquille O'Neal. I'll put him at the best big. Well, but that's not what I want. That's your lane. No traffic in that lane. I don't want him as the best big. And when you're talking about guarding him, you might be able to stop whatever it is Michael Jordan and LeBron James and Dwayne Wade are doing in the open corner, two and three on one.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Yoakets are getting stuck in his belly button. Yeah, I don't know if I'm stopping Michael Jordan, though. That's a that's that's three and one. Yoke gets you getting stuck in his belly button. Yeah I don't know if I'm stopping Michael Jordan though that's a that's that's a tough one even Kevin Durant but yes he probably is the top best offensive skilled or scoring or offensive player big why centers position? Too many words. It's too many words. You're not cosigning what I'm asking you to cosign so we'll just go back. It's just too tough. There's too many skilled offensive players that have come through our league
Starting point is 00:24:48 and it said to me to put somebody- None like this one, Danny. None like this one. Michael Jeffrey Jordan. None like this one. There have been exactly zero who look like this one. And as an added bonus, oh yeah, everyone passed on him. He didn't go in the first round.
Starting point is 00:25:02 I would agree and attest to that. That's a good I mean, but Michael Jordan man There's a reason why and some of these guys Said he's got one ring So some of these guys that you're talking about he's passing up have like five six rings and they might have better teams Just talking about the offensive skills. I'm not talking about the championships Danny's trying to find a polite way to say you're wrong. Don't you get that? Steph Curry is a Steph Curry is very skill set to like, he does
Starting point is 00:25:30 a lot of things like this guy's imagine he's like his toes to the top of his head there is seven feet occupied. So this year, Jokic has shot 40 plus from three, but I don't know if he'll consistently do that. You know, so good Jordan No, Jordan couldn't but said Steph is in that said there's so many talented players that have come through our lane seven that Offensively, okay. But yeah, so footer, you know that that's a that's not a bad take. It's a strong one. I
Starting point is 00:26:01 I'm more in a greens than I am disagreed But it's hard for me to fully commit to that until I do some more research. He's second in the NBA and it says, Danny, I need to change your mind. Can we change your mind? I need to badger you until you change your mind. You guys are pushing me there. Yes. Yeah. Too often in sports debate, people just stick to their take and don't say, you know what? You've convinced me. I just, I may venture to say this is that time. As this time goes on, I'm getting more and more convinced because yeah, we haven't seen anything like it.
Starting point is 00:26:35 We haven't seen anything like it. Danny, shop for your life, Jokic or Jordan? I'm going on Mike. Yeah, all progress. It's just been a long time. I'm going on. No disrespect to Yoke. I'd say they're both very good players, but I'm going with Mike and even Luca is a guy that we might be able to put in that conversation. I want to talk about Luca. Stan says he's the best offensive player ever. Stan Van Gundy says that Lucas is the best offensive player ever. But I want to get your take on Missoula
Starting point is 00:27:09 the other day. Tatum's doubtful. And Missoula the other day just said get up because he was riding around on the floor, but he's actually doubtful. So he was hurt. How's that one going over with your star player that Missoula is a little bit of a crazy person? I mean, it depends on how Jason, I feel like he's a kid that can receive constructive criticism well and was his pops or his parents from the old school times. That's just how it was. You know what I'm saying? You break a finger, you got nine others, get your ass up, get back in the game and play. So, I mean, I loved it.
Starting point is 00:27:49 I, you know, and to me, I don't, I don't know exactly what he's hurt. It was, it was a risk, right? Or something like that. Or I don't think get up is constructive criticism. Tony's back there. Tony played through a, through a spring last night, got a sprained thumb, and he kept playing through it. 15 points in the second half. Let me explain it to Danny. So Danny, I was, I was on the block and I was waiting for a pick and pop. Guy goes to pick.
Starting point is 00:28:09 My thumb gets caught in his shirt, yanks it back. I had already had 20 at that point. Had to come out. He was hot. Come on, I was hot. I had already hit like four or five threes. I came out of the game, had to tape myself up real quick. But guess what?
Starting point is 00:28:20 Second half started, I came back in, had another fat one. You're a warrior. Like, get up. I'm with you on that. Listen, he's got that dog inside him. There's not many injuries that should keep you on the floor for that. Like unless you tore ankle or knee, you know, said, I don't know what it is. I don't, I didn't see with injury, but I thought it was his wrist, right?
Starting point is 00:28:37 If I'm not mistaken on this one, it's wrong. Yeah. Yeah. So his legs are fine. Like your legs are fine. And I'm not saying that I'm not trying to like downplay his injury, but Joe was like, look, man, you're not shot, you're not dead, get up. You know, we can look at this wrist on the sideline. We can look at it over here. And I think that's just part of him being raised from the old school and trying to let the new generation,
Starting point is 00:29:02 new school generation, like you guys are soft. Get the hell up. Like you don't need to be laying on the floor that way. And I get some guys like to sell the call, like to sell this, make them look at it, make them see, because sometimes you won't get them to review a call unless you sell it. But, uh, I mean, if when I'm, if I'm coaching any of my kids, I'm telling them get the hell up, but yeah, that might not go over well with superstars and NBA.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Well, it's not constructive. Get up is not constructive criticism under any circumstances. I won't put it in that category. I would say that he's a kid that can take criticism. I'm not saying this is constructive criticism, but I think he can take that type of tough love and treatment and is okay with it. I want you to- Maybe I'm wrong?
Starting point is 00:29:41 I could be wrong? No, I think that you have some expertise here that you can help us understand kawaii lennard a little bit better than most having been a champion with him by the time he gets to you in toronto after whatever the betrayals were of the spurs medical staff that kawaii lennard when you talk about playing through injuries we were marveling at this yesterday was incapable of jumping he won a championship playing only old man game could you notice what story can you tell us from that? That would give us the insides of you have no earthly idea
Starting point is 00:30:12 How hard it was for him to win the championship when he couldn't jump in an NBA Finals game that that's interesting It is tough I said I've seen Timmy play on one leg and to go back to Joe Mazzulli, Papa said way worse things to me in the past besides get up is not that bad or that harsh. But Kawhi to me, I said he was unbelievable during that run. And I know he was limping. I know he had one leg. But to say he couldn't jump I think is a stretch because he definitely did dunk the ball. He dunked the shit out of Giannis one time. Like it was where he he was limping, but he still was getting to the rim
Starting point is 00:30:48 Still dunk the ball But yes, I know he was he was hurt. He was on one leg and to do that with that type of injury Just showed how tough of a kid he is and you know people will give him a lot of slack because I was injuries in the past and it's a lot of negativity But he's fought through some injuries in the past and it's a lot of negativity. But he's fought through some injuries in the past and I think it makes him look bad because they don't release the injury or how severity of the injury until after these series are over like the past couple of playoffs we've seen he's like, oh, he's injured. He might come back.
Starting point is 00:31:18 And then after the series, I was like, oh, he tore his ACL. So like you guys should announce that obviously didn't want the other team to know because they want to fear them. But you're making the player look bad by not announcing that when it happens, but he's a kid that could fight through, you know Injuries you fight through, you know pain and he's shown it and proven it before so I never doubt I never doubt him two-part question on Pacers and Bucks Why do the NBA peers think that Tyrese Halliburton is overrated and is Yannis out of there if Milwaukee loses in the first round? I don't think he's overrated.
Starting point is 00:31:51 I just think that, well, I guess if you look at the totality of it, they put him in a category because of he had an unbelievable stretch last season the first quarter first third of the season where I won't say his outer body experience are above himself but he played an unbelievable efficient rate and he was getting 20 assist game getting 30 balls shooting 40 plus from three and as we've seen that's not his norm or like you know 40 plus from three he can't score he can't say he became an all star the first half of last season because he was making three pointers from the half court line because he went through an up like he introduced himself to an olympic team like some people like he should
Starting point is 00:32:35 because you got guys like and i was doing tv with john wall the other day and some of these things he's never got and invited to and john was an unbelievable point guard And if he matched up with him in his prime, I know It would be a great hell of a matchup and he probably give him some fits But I think Tyrese is a very good player I just think the standard that they're holding him to an expectation or they believe he is is a lot higher Than what? He's consistently shown on what he really is. So I don't think he's overrated. I think it's very good But you know some other point guards some other people So I don't think he's overrated. I think he's very good.
Starting point is 00:33:05 But you know, some other point guards, some other people don't think he deserved to be Olympic gold, Olympic team over like Kyrie and certain people. So I get that. But as John is out of there, I think there's some consideration. If they lose in the first round, they're on 02 right now to Indiana. And if they lose probably 4-1, which it looks like it's gonna be going in my mind, I think there's gonna be him considering going to places
Starting point is 00:33:32 and the organization having to sit down, talk with him and seeing where his mindset is. But I can see Yanis also being a guy like being loyal and saying, I started my career here, I wanna finish here. Nah, loyal's not it. I think loyal's not it. I got my ring, maybe, maybe. So we don't know if we see what his brother said a lot has to do with his brother what is if they bring his brother back or
Starting point is 00:33:52 But yeah I think there's gonna be some some consideration of him and the organization of trading him this offseason if they lose for one in This series this episode is presented by draft Kings draft Kings. The crown is yours Danny I got three questions for you rapid-fire if. If you listen to an audio book to complete you, can you then claim I read that book? No. Yeah. Sam Van Gundy disagrees, but we move on. Who's more handsome? Andrew Hawkins. You have to read it. You have to read it. Go ahead. Read the shit. Okay. Well, I heard this shit and I got the same amount of information. Well, I'm not going to play it.
Starting point is 00:34:27 It's got to be pretty sure. I wouldn't say you didn't read it, but I listened to that book. The correct terms, I listened to that book. This has been a great segment for changing people's minds. Who's more handsome, Andrew Hawkins or Method Man? We're taking an internal tally here. Is Andrew Hawkins the receiver? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Otherwise known as Walter. Well, see, like you know Andrew Hawkins and you don't do a show with him like Greg Cody. Like Greg Cody's a part of our ensemble cast, had no idea who Andrew Hawkins was. Never been to the same studio with him. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go with Method Man just because I mean for what I've seen as an older guy he's kind of take care of himself. Yep. Yeah. And he's been in a... That is true. 100%. And the last question, Mark Jackson once famously said, the great ones tell their body not today. Was there ever a time where Danny Green had to tell his body
Starting point is 00:35:13 not today to overcome with a great performance on the court? No, my younger days, I wasn't that smart. I had to have, and I think most athletes had to have coaches tell you not today. It's just that I grew up you know the different the coachings the the parenting was very different I played football so it was like if I'm sick I'm gonna try to go it doesn't matter if I'm hurt whatever it is if it's not stop me from running I'm gonna try to go so you are saying not today you are always always your body screaming it's telling you
Starting point is 00:35:53 you're not playing and you're telling your body not today body okay one of the great so then yes that was every day that was yeah not today every day no not every day. I'm being, but there was a lot of moments. Yes, there's a lot of moments where it was not today. I was sick, I was hurt, and I don't think it was any in the finals. There was none in the play, like not many in the playoffs, but there was some, some times where I was sick, but said the coaching staff would have me sit down or if I was really sick, but I can't remember
Starting point is 00:36:26 there was one in particular moment where I had like a flu game or anything like that. How about this, how about, did you ever come out one day and say to yourself this, because you were trying to summon the greatest of strengths within you? I got a dog in me. Yeah, I mean, so there was, there was some moments where I said, didn't feel, I'm trying to remember
Starting point is 00:36:44 if there's any playoff games where I didn't feel great. But it didn't have to be, it felt, it actually would be, you felt too great, right? Like it's not just your body, but you feel, I was assuming turned ankle. It seems as though you got a bad immune system. No, I wasn't always sick. I wasn't always sick. There was definitely times where I had a groin injury or I had a
Starting point is 00:37:08 Asthitis pubis and I kind of played through most of that What is that that sounds terribly? What is that pubis like a groin injury? Asthitis pubis asthitis pubis. I think that's the correct term. It's a groin injury sounds It sounds painful in um, Greg, I, that definitely, it sounds painful. In America, it wasn't, yeah, it wasn't,
Starting point is 00:37:30 it was painful. And I said, I didn't know how bad it was till the end of the season, but I had a status pubis, most of that toward the end of that year. And I've had to play through that. So that was tough. It was definitely tough as well.
Starting point is 00:37:41 Danny, you don't believe in the Rockets, right? I believe they're good, but I had Golden State in seven in the series. I just think Golden State, just because I have Golden State doesn't mean I don't believe in the Rockets. That's exactly what it means. No, I mean I believe in Golden State but more because they're more experienced. You guys are stirring some stuff up, man. Danny, though, this is the thing, right? You either believe the Rockets are going to get out of the first round or they're not.
Starting point is 00:38:08 And I don't believe anybody thinks the Rockets are going to get out of the first round. I believe they're a good team. And I think if they had a different matchup, I would think they would win the series. But this matchup, I believe in Golden State more, because they're just more experienced to me. That doesn't take away the fact that
Starting point is 00:38:32 Houston is a good enough team that I believe is like could if depend on matchup could make noise in the playoffs if they played Lakers that they played, you know Memphis there are other teams matched up that they I think they could they could you know be Timberwolves Lakers who you got I had Lakers and six So game one didn't shake you No, I mean I Mean I usually stick my prediction I just think like is so they had a really bad night Timberwolves had a really great night They shot that they shot the hell out of the ball
Starting point is 00:39:00 Jade McDaniels 25 points on 11 from 13 like I don't think will That if it's like he may score 20, but not that efficiently They hit like a franchise record of threes like I don't know if they can they shoot decent they shoot decent But I don't shoot. I don't think they'll do that again For like three or four more times in the playoffs. So I think the Lakers I was safe that with Luca and Brian Danny I assume you have Cleveland in four or five games Luca and Brian. Danny, I assume you have Cleveland in four or five games. What on earth can the Heat do to make this a long series?
Starting point is 00:39:28 Game one incidentally, game one incidentally, I saw these stats. Cleveland had its best offensive game of the season or Miami had its worst defensive game of the season. That's not great. It's not, but you gotta give credit to the teams making it like that way. They had a worse defensive
Starting point is 00:39:45 because Cleveland played really good offense. Ty Jerome played well. I think it'll go five, maybe six at most, but what can, Miami stuck around. They looked like they belonged. It wasn't like when it was lopsided, OKC, Memphis. That series looks a little more lopsided. But Miami just plays their game. I think they have a chance.
Starting point is 00:40:06 They need more Khalil where they need a little more branch production. They need probably start Davion Mitchell cuz he played well. I like that guy. Yeah, I think they found some things and just hopefully take away Cleveland's through, you gotta take away Cleveland's bench a little bit and take away three ball from them a little bit, which said they won't shoot it as well. That's hard to do. Danny, do you like movies?
Starting point is 00:40:29 I love movies. So, we're 30 days away from the final reckoning. And I think Mission Impossible for my money is the greatest action film franchise of all time. It just keeps getting better. Outside of all the Marvel movies, too. Yeah, oh, the Marvel movies, you can't say that. You can't say that about the Marvel movies that they keep getting better.
Starting point is 00:40:49 You can absolutely say that, at least in terms of like a timeline, keep in mind this franchise has been around for like 30 years now. Yeah, it's like Fast and the Furious at this point. No, only better. It is better. Fast and the Furious doesn't have 30 years. It certainly doesn't have, they're not,
Starting point is 00:41:02 how many times has Tyrese been disavowed by the government? I mean seriously, come on. I guess you know where I stand, but in your opinion, and please let it not be fast and furious, what is the greatest action film franchise of all time? To me, I would go with the Marvel movie or like the Batman series, like the Dark the Batman the Nolan trilogy. Yes Nolan trilogy Avengers The Avengers unbelievable like the Batman's Did you like the Batman the one with Robert Pattinson as as Bruce it was good. I liked it I liked it, but it wasn't as good as the crusade though. I've taken too long to get the sequel out there He's gonna be 41 Christian bit. Yeah, the Christian Bale said we have to wait till they finish
Starting point is 00:41:44 But the Christian Bale one is we have to wait until they finish, but the Christian Bale one is a top tier. I will say this, I've seen Sinners and I've never, I haven't felt about a movie like that, like where I thought about a movie after, because it was when I first saw the hype, I'm like, ah, people probably hyping it. And I'm all for pushing and black culture and everything like that. It's great. And I was like, I'm going to see the movie.
Starting point is 00:42:04 I'm still going gonna promote it regardless, but it lived up to the hype. And I'm still watching this and finding out new stuff about the movie. Obviously we're talking about series, but this was an unbelievable movie. And I'm excited to see it again. I've been floored by how,
Starting point is 00:42:17 I didn't think that things could be made that would just get universal applause in 2025, where people are talking about something, they're saying how good it is, and then people go see it and they say it's better than that. Like the last thing that felt like that to me was like Hamilton a million years ago and then people turned on Hamilton too. Cause people usually ruin it, right? And people over hype it. But this,
Starting point is 00:42:39 this lived up to the hype man. Just the, I'm learning still even after the movie, how much like about the cast and crew, very talented actors, unbelievable. And people say it's really not a horror it has some jumpy scenes but it's it's like a horror mixed with musical it's like and I don't I'm not a fan of musicals at all but the soundtrack and I think the villains need to get more credit the villains were unbelievable too like I don't see enough of them on Instagram obviously everybody talks about Michael B Jordan and Hailey Steinfeld. They're unbelievable too. But the other actors, the old school actors, like they came full circle. It's a movie that I really interested
Starting point is 00:43:13 in seeing again and seeing what I could pick up the second time around. But it was, and to me it was Michael B. Jordan's one of his best acting movies I've seen. But it was, it was unreal, man. It was it was it was it had a great feeling great experience in the theater not even seen an IMAX I want to see it in IMAX to see how different it'll be inside the green room with Danny Green and we have a victory here on behalf of America you guys all heard it here Danny Green has conceded that he was wrong he's had his mind changed he can be open-minded Jokic is better yes I was actually gonna come back to that I was gonna come back to that I think you guys convinced. Jokic is better than Michael Jordan. I was actually going to come back to that.
Starting point is 00:43:46 I was going to come back to that. I think you guys convinced me. Jokic is probably the best offensive player in the history of the game. Thank you. Until Luka surpasses him. Luka has to get an MVP. Luka has to get an MVP in a championship. Luka's MVP in a championship. Then we'll have this discussion again.
Starting point is 00:44:02 A victory. Thank you Danny. Good seeing you. Same victory. A victory. Thank you, Danny. Good seeing you. You gotta win. Say I appreciate you guys, man. This is always fun. I gotta do it again soon. I got a dog in me.
