You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. This is the Dunlabel Tarshall with the StugatSpotCas. Some incredible news here are the ratings fronts with the Chiefs game from this past Sunday. I'm reading a tweet here from Fox Sports PR and week three's national NFL on Fox window ranked first among females 12 to 17 females 18 to 34 females 18 to 49 and F2 plus demos this week, which is absolutely incredible. That was the chiefs game. It was the game everyone was watching. And I cannot believe those numbers, those numbers are fascinating. We talked a couple of years ago about how football would have to make and was making a marketing push toward moms because the pipeline needs the bodies of their boys and the dangers of the game

make it so that if parents don't want their kids around the game because it's too dangerous for kids, the NFL, we saw the business of the NFL move to marketing toward women and moms because fell moved to marketing toward women and moms because please, please don't take away the future meat and bodies that we need to throw into this machine. And all you got to do is throw a pop star into the mix who's got legions of fans who will discover who Travis Kelsey is because they're because she is Taylor Swift is dating Travis Kelsey. Allegedly, although El Duncan suggests otherwise. Total viewers for the game were 24.3 million. It was the most watch telecast

of the week on any network. It's amazing. I can't believe they're old strategy of being like, here's a pink jersey with sparkles on it. Ladies, you're gonna love it. There's so many rhinestones. These are different sparkles. These are the kind of sparkles that you can't, you imagine, you think to yourself, football cannot get any bigger. It can't get any bigger and it keeps getting bigger.

I think Taylor Swift is the biggest star on the planet. Music sports anymore. No, they're soccer stars. The planet is larger than America. And I'm including soccer stars. No, I made that statement. You can't say that she's bigger than Ronaldo or Messi. And internationally.

You can say it, but it's not accurate. No, it's accurate. Well, how do you know? Because the following can be measured and the follow-up counts are larger for Ronaldo and Messi than they are for Taylor Swift. Again, not the entire world is not America. I understand Americans think that the entire world is America, but it is not. There are many places in the world where Taylor Swift does not matter.

There aren't many places in the world where Ronaldo and Leonel Messi don't matter because it's a very simple game. You know, but you don't need access to, I don't know, stereo speakers. You don't need to, to soccer is a game that is very simple and the poor can play it and it's, it is something that's so, it's measurable. Not by me, it's not my opinion. We've asked the question before, whether it's bad bunny or Taylor Swift, they have a certain level of fame.

I'm not here to dispute that in music. I would say there is no one larger than Taylor Swift right now. But the followings of soccer players are larger. I just can't wait for the Swifties to start falling into football, though, right? They started watching on Sunday and seeing that specific game. But now, like, is this fan base that dives deeper into conspiracy theories than any other in music and pop fandom going to start like having really strong opinions on the tuck rule or things like that?

Can you get for me, Billy, the sound here because there was a transaction in sports that went under the radar yesterday, understandably. But you know, Stugant, that fairly famously, Dremon Green punched teammate Jordan pool. Jordan pool was bad the rest of the season and then traded. And Dremon Green has gone back to to Golden State where he has now teamed up with Chris Paul who they don't seem to get along much before this, but maybe they can just be professional teammates. But now the Golden State Warriors have added someone else that Drey Montgomery has a problem with Rodney McRooter as signed with the golden state warriors,

which allows us to resurrect this sound. Dremont, what happened at the end there with McGruder? I don't know. I was in the locker room, but apparently he was taken up a way and I was like, when the fucking Rodney McGruder become the tough guy out of team, right? I don't know, man, everybody in the league tough these days. It's crazy. I've seen a lot of tough guys this year.

I don't understand it. Don't nobody do anything. Like if you really wanted to do something, you could have done it. Walk over there talking like he's a team tough guy. That's a lot of hair. Tucked out, Rodney Rodney. Tucked out. I don't know man, that's too many tough guys

in this league these days for me. But I know ain't nobody's got to know down Rodney McGruder. Like, you kidding me? Scrazen. I want to come back after apologizing to Greg Coded because of the acid in your tone when you referred to El Duncan, who you did not know as lady. Lady.

I try to do that after I get like a bad shot. I'm like Andy. Come on. What are you doing? Andy's a good boy though? He is Yeah, he's good loyal. Oh Loyal of the ass. Is's out of four games. Huh? Why would the loyalty need to come out the ass? Explain to me what that was a different level of oil of the day. It's a pillar of silence. Explain to me what you were going for. What other options does Andy have? I mean, sometimes I wonder when I'm on a bad streak, if I have three, four open frames in a row, it really makes me wonder. You realize Andy's looking around saying, why am I stuck with this guy? He probably is. And, but those are the times when, you know,

a lot of people are two-ball men, or women's bowl as well. You know what, you don't wipe off the ball though before. I do not, no, but I'm a one-ball man. So, are you a three-finger man or a one-ball man? I'm a one ball man. So are you a three finger man or a one ball man? I'm a one ball three finger man. You can be both. You know, a lot of people have, you know,

spare, especially spare balls and everything. Come on. Yeah, balls of ball. Just to be clear, you are a three finger, one ball man with a bowling ball named Andy that has loyalty out the ass. Sagaaki. Right.

I'm glad we covered all of that. He gets it. Thank you. Let me segue here to a more serious story, Stugas. I don't know that anyone necessarily cares because the athlete is there to provide your feel good. And once the athlete, no matter his name, stops with the feel good, we start caring about them less.

The Raiders have had an issue, quietly, with Chandler Jones. Chandler Jones, and this was not reported enough when it happened. Past rushers are hard to come by. There was an incident in Miami that I told you about involving Chandler Jones. And what it was in public at a bar at the Delano and football players generally can't have incidents that don't get back to their teams because the investments are so large because these football factories and organizations are so strong with their security details, it got back to the Patriots and they traded him. They traded someone who now it seems like is having a great

many mental health issues, but is saying to the Raiders he doesn't have mental health issues. Now I will go back and say again what it is that I pointed out. The Patriots knew something and they traded something that has value, a past Russia and they traded him to the Raiders while knowing something. And that Raider problem, the organization that had Barrett Robbins to got to disappeared before a Super Bowl, teaching a lot of us about mental health issues the night before a Super Bowl because he was bipolar, Barrett Robbins disappeared and his teammates trashed him after the game after losing the Super Bowl. That organization known for taking renegades, known for being comfortable with the discomfort of guys in football who may have some head issues, right? They have some, head cases is what we would call them.

Right. He went to the Cardinals first from the Patriot to the Cardinals, then to the Raiders, and he said he is being hospitalized against his will. That is what he said. He said he's being forced to stay away from the team while he stays at some sort of mental health facility where he wasn't offered a bed and had to sleep on the floor. He says he called his GM a bunch of times, but hasn't gotten an answer. He said his brothers bring him food and clothes to eat and that he's losing a million dollars

for every game he misses. He says he's perfectly saying, what do you do with all of this? I'm not talking about organizationally. I'm saying, where do you side when you're viewing that a team has run off a past rusher and it's telling you that he's not well and not well enough to not be stable or around their team or huddle? When that sport causes head traumas and can help facilitate some of these darknesses

that can encompass the athletes that they don't recognize. Yeah, I just worry about the guy. I mean, it's a mental health issue that he's dealing with. And for perspective, this is not an all time great. I'm not gonna exaggerate. He's pretty good. He's got 112 career sacks.

He had 19 in one season just four years ago. At all time good. Yeah, yeah. Those are all of fame type numbers. So this is an extraordinary athlete. And he time good. He's those are all of fame type numbers. So this is an extraordinary. Yeah. And he's got a show. We're just two guys. Gamble on by draft Kings. Don Lebertard. Were you guys building out the a rod bathroom of your imaginations? Is that what I heard you discussing during the break towels with an a on them? You know, the thing you slide the toilet paper on that's a baseball bat.

about 10 years I mean that, that smile on his face. It's like, James Wednesday. I was worried about him at the beginning, Mike Norvell with us. I was worried at the beginning because it looked like that was some difficult sledding when you got there. Thank you for joining us, coach. And it looks like you fixed it. FSU's got a ton of athletes.

Take us back through some of this journey, though. What was the beginning of, like, how unpleasant was it to get there and inherit everything from the Bowden family a million years ago to feel like, you know, it was struggling at the beginning to get it to here? Well, I mean, it was definitely a challenge. You come into a situation where there have been a lot of change. And you can't really point to any one person or any, any, any, you see, or situation, but, you know, it was really hard for the players. And anytime that you go through different expectations, all things recruiting, what guys are looking for, your evaluation, the makeup of a team. And when that turns over as much as it did over that three, four-year period,

I mean, it was definitely a challenge. And we had to go through a lot of things as a program to really set the foundation. As a coaching staff, we had to establish consistency. We had to establish a standard and then we had to put push these guys in understanding what that would look like and how it'll be able to accomplish that.

And then you just build the confidence and trust of, you know, how we were gonna get that done. And you know, it definitely took a little time. You know, there at the beginning, but you're so pleased with the steps that we've taken, Mel love coach and this team. You know, we got a great group of young men that I get to, you pour into every day.

And you know, they definitely, you're showing up big on the field and you know, who they are off the field. When you say challenge, what do you regard as the greatest challenge you have endured in your professional career? I mean, it was really all coming in. And just as you come in,

it's about building relationships and you want to be able to establish what that expectation is, how we're gonna do things. And I guess it was eight weeks into being here, you had COVID hit. And for all the work that went in at the beginning of it, trying to get a sense of who these guys were,

what they were about. And then you don't see them for the next three months. When we come back into fall camp, I mean, everybody had to deal with COVID, but just with our situation, I mean, it was unique. And we had to go through a lot of difficult moments, but we had that consistency, as we had that growth and just investment into each other.

I think you saw a lot of growth within our program. And as we continued to identify and find the right fit for for guys coming in. I mean, it's really come together. We got a wonderful culture. You know, these guys, like I said, they love to work and it's been just a lot of fun to see them grow. Coach, do you like today's college football? I do. I mean, it's, you know, there's, it's unique. It's different. You know, there's a lot of, you know, you told me five years ago that this is what it would look like. I could never probably imagine, but that's part of life as adapting to the changes.

And it's a new situation, new circumstance. We have stayed true to our core of what we believe. And the guys that we're bringing into the program, what still comes down to finding the right fit. And that's something that, regardless of the path that guys have come, last year about 75% or 70% of our class was from high school seniors.

We were able to get some great high or great transfers that have come in. Some guys have come from junior college. Everybody's got a different path or journey, but you see that mesh and jell together because they're all like-minded. And we're very transparent in the recruiting process. And I think we put together a great team

that's building into a family just because of that evaluation and you'll find in those right guys. My come much bigger than one game symbolism. Right there have been for you winning at Clemson because Clemson's been the king of that ACC for a pretty long time. No, I mean, I don't, I don't say you're shy away from how big of a win that was and it was one that was needed.

And no, I said after the game, that was a win that was four years into making, you know, Clemson has won for a long time. You know, they got a great culture. They got great players, guys that believe in what they're doing. And to go there on the road, you guys know all the stats of how long it's been and any streak that they've had, you know, just not just against us, but against, you know, anybody coming into that stadium.

I mean, it's been, it's a challenge. And to see our guys face the adversity that we face, you know, we were down to 10 points a couple times in the game, but our sideline was awesome. Our kids just they they continue to believe. They continue to play. You know, we needed a play where there was offensively there in the second quarter, the second quarter or defensively there, late in the third quarter. I mean, those guys rose up and made the play and and then to see us, you know, finished it in overtime. I mean, it was just an

outstanding game for us and one that, you know, we didn't play our best, but we got the win. And now we can get better from that. And you'll continue to grow as a season goes for us as long. Coach, I'm curious your thoughts on the ACC this year. Clemson already has two losses, but it feels like one of the most competitive years we've seen from that league. Duke, you and see Miami, obviously, Florida state. It feels like one of the most competitive years we've seen from that league Duke, you and C, Miami obviously floored a state. It feels like one of the more underrated conferences in college football right now.

No, I mean, it's, I mean, it's very, very competitive. I think if I believe I saw it right, there's six, I mean, six teams that are 4-0 right now in the ACC. This is a, I mean, it is very competitively and there's a bunch

of great coaches and you take Clemson who's been the standard for the last 8, 10 years. And they're 0-1-2 in the league right now. And that is a dang good football team. They're going to win a lot of games this year. I would say that they're very capable in 9-10 win football team.

And so for us, you've got to bring it each and every week. you know, we went on the road to Boston College, you know, we got up 31-10 and, you know, in all reality, you kind of took, took, took the foot off the gas a little bit with the, with the edge which we were playing with. And before you knew it, it became a lot closer again than it needed to be. And, you know, you got to, you got to show up and you got to play it in the elite level. And it's about, you know, just continue to get better as the season goes, but it's an outstanding league this year. When you say that you couldn't imagine college football being this five years ago and you sounded like a man who had to say he likes the way college football is now, but doesn't

like some of the things with the changes. Can you point out to us what it is that has happened where you've been like you've got to be kidding me. This has changed so much. I'm stunned by how much this has changed in five years. Well, I mean, I think you look at, you know, roster turn over. I mean, our first, you know, our first two years here, you know, they're hard-caled at 25, you know, players that you could sign.

And that was it. So you couldn't change a roster. You, it took time. It took, you know, there was a long process. And now with that limit, you know, going away, I mean, you see, you know, a lot bigger signing classes, obviously the transfer portal and what that's done, you know, the NIL component of where that is. I mean, all things that I do believe are ultimately good for student athletes to have choices and opportunities, but you know, it's just if you would have said five years ago that this is where we're going to be. I mean, it's it's pretty extreme and you know,

I don't say something to sound good or you know, I do. I think that there's, you know, when you see where we are in college football, it is different than what I would have ever expected. But, you know, it really does put an emphasis on what are you going after? What do you, you know, what are the, how do you develop a team with so many different dynamics? Where, you know, guys are not tied to being there. They can leave. I mean, you, your culture does matter. It's, you know, by the identification and evaluation of who you're bringing in, whether it's high school's, you know, by the identification and evaluation of who you're bringing in, whether it's high school transfer, you know, junior college. I mean, there's so many different elements that, you know, you still got a team still win and the culture matters and how that

all comes together. It's what I love about this game. And, you know, it's been, really, I have enjoyed it. I've enjoyed seeing, you know, all the different paths and all the different backgrounds and all the different experiences come together and, you know, it builds the team I get to coach every day and I love it. And so different than what I expected, but, you know, it's, it's really pretty good. Coach, I know how important Deon Sanders is to your university. And I know how much, you know, he's beloved in Tallahassee. But I'm wondering, do you think, like I do, that 60 minutes is now obligated to go out to Eugene, Oregon and do a piece on Dan landing?

I guess he has said that again. Deon was featured on 60 minutes and Stugaz is saying now Dan landing should be featured on 60 minutes because he beat Deon saying now Dan Laning should be featured on 60 minutes because he beat Deon. That's what he's saying. I mean, Deon's been great for the Game of Football. And you look at what he meant to afford a state when he was here. His personality, he's remarkable in being able to promote what he believes. And obviously, he has a great backing of experiences throughout his career.

Anybody you talk to was with Dion, here's time as Forteste, they talk about his work ethic. They talk about how much he was willing to pour in to get what he wants. And he's been great for College Football. I mean, the fact that there's that much attention and for everybody to see, you know, what's happened at Colorado, you know, what he did at Jackson State during his time there.

I mean, it's, you know, he's definitely been unbelievably impactful and, you know, he's going to, he's going to continue to work them to, to at a high level because that's just who he is. So, you know, I don't think there's any, anything that, you know, you're going to win games, you're going to lose games because that's just who he is. So I don't think there's anything that, you know, you're gonna win games, you're gonna lose games. That's all part of it. And, you know, but, you know, he's brought great attention to our sports and I think he's been a positive

to college athletics. Because of those kind of changes, because of the transfer portal, is what you do for a living harder or easier than it was even a few years ago? Well, I think it's definitely harder. I mean, there's no question about that. And it's not just for the coaches.

I think it's the hardest time in the history of college athletics for student athletes. And it's not social media. It's all the other elements of things that really challenge them throughout their journey. Because one, they can go. Everybody's with third parties, whether it's people that everybody's going to have an opinion on what you should do and what it should look like. The pressure that these young men have to face, it's, you know, it's difficult. And, you know, that's why, you know, having those relationships being real, being transparent with guys, you know,

that's almost, I'm gonna tell you plenty of things, you probably don't wanna hear, but it's gonna be true. It's gonna be real. It's gonna be something that we can go together with and, you know, be able to live out experiences. And there's gonna be days that we get knocked down and we get to, you know, rise up together

and push forward. And it's always about that response. But I think for a coach being able to help guys along that journey. And then it is like roster management. That's difficult now is what it's ever been just trying to plan out years ahead because your team can change in a blink.

And ultimately, I think that makes it a difficult dynamic, but really just I think it's hard for this harder now for everybody that's involved in college athletics than what it's been, but it's also can be very rewarding just because of the impact you can make. Coach, my college football team has been wildly disappointing this year. They can't score points. It's't score points. It's ruining my days. So I'm on the market for a secondary team and I'm not trying to put down any pressure

on you, but the University of Florida did send me this box of stuff. You're just an ass. You're going to ask first off. No, I'm giving him the chance to respond to this. Where am I? I'm on the tennis table. I got sent to a little bit more than you. I was at center anything.

Where am I? We are Miami Show. I'm not the show. I got sent a little bit of money. You as a center anything, right? We are Miami show. I'm not Miami. Wow. So you're saying that you're openly available. She could be bought. I can be bought.

The evolution of compassion on sports radio gas bags, Stugots and Greg Cody, because they are feeling bad for the piling on that's going on with Zach Wilson in New York. Yesterday, Damian Woody came and said he's done with Zach Wilson and he's been done with him for a long time. Joe Namath yesterday also said, get him out of here as the quarterback.

And Stugat and Greg Cody think it's unfair, even though he's playing the position incompetently that a 25 year old, that they're calling a kid, a 25 year old professional, that they are calling a kid because he looks like a scared kid. And he's playing like a scared kid. You guys are now looking underneath the helmet and seeing the human being in there.

Well, it's too harsh. That you feel bad for. I mean, Joe name it is the face of the Jets organization. That's part of the problem. We don't have a more modern reference than Joe name it, a guy who won a Super Bowl in 1969. That's how bad this organization is. Zach Wilson did not ask for any of this. He was drafted number two. He wasn't good. He was benched. They replaced him with Aaron Rogers. He was thrusted into a position, a difficult position for someone to be in

at that age. He's 25 and you have guys like greenie, did. This is not the normal criticism. This is guys like Mike Greenberg at Joe Name-ith saying he should never be allowed in a football stadium again He should never be allowed to play in the NFL again And the fact that Joe name-ith is still the mouthpiece for the jets and that radio shows are still calling up Broadway Joe it should be Broadway Joe because he doesn't belong to the Hall of Fame. He is the worst quarterback in the Hall of Fame by a lot. For Joe, name it. This is a something so harsh as the face and mouth of that organization.

So harsh about Zach Wilson. You want to say he's not playing well? Fine. But he should never walk into an NFL stadium again. It's such an easy target. How about you go after Joe Douglas for not providing him with an offensive line? How about you go after Robert Salah for not coaching the kid up? How about you blast somebody who won't give you access to the building, Joe?

How about that? That's totally something you would say though. Totally believe it. You are. Leave it to me. I mean, according to stat mew, Zach Wilson's career quarterback rating is 69.2. Joe name is 65.5. And you're 100. What Joe? You're 100% right that name is the weakest guy in the Hall of Fame. He's there for one season and one guarantee. One guarantee. In the case of Zach Wilson, I get that sports gas baggery trades in overreaction. I get that. And I don't think Zach Wilson's good enough to start right now, but the idea you're going to give up on his career at age 25 is

preposterous. The problem here, the greater problem than Zach Wilson is that the New York Jets didn't have a veteran backup behind him. It's ridiculous. Zach Wilson has a track record of professional income. Joe Douglas has a track record of taking the wrong quarterbacks. So bless him and not Zach Wilson. No, I agree with that. Zach Wilson isn't the reason Rogers isn't playing this year. It has nothing to do with him. I do think it is important to look at him in this perspective of, yes, he's 25 years old because I'm 25 years old. That seems I could never handle that the way to the world.

He is a child. His brain just fully developed. It probably still isn't fully developed. How have they not brought somebody else in just for optics?
