Starting point is 00:01:57 throughout the show. DraftKings, the crown is yours. I know everybody's excited. Football's back. Patrick Mahomes is still amazing all the all the all the warm and fuzzies but I have a complaint enough with the rule changes enough with the rule changes which ones all of them all of them all of them take me back to football not even I'm not gonna say 10 years ago give me back five years ago. Whatever we played with then, stick with that. Do you mean the rule changes
Starting point is 00:02:29 or the rule reemphases or both? All of it. Well, there is a rule change on the kickoff, which I loved when it was, they borrowed it from the XFL and it was way better from the XFL. I'm not exactly sure if the kickers are kicking from a closer spot, but they wanna incentivize more returns and we're not exactly getting that. Roy and I kicking from a closer spot, but they want to incentivize
Starting point is 00:02:45 more returns and we're not exactly getting that. Roy and I were going back and forth a little bit in the morning in that the pre-snap penalties for the Baltimore Ravens, this was a point of emphasis and it really ruined the game flow. Yeah, all the penalties came up when the tackles were standing as opposed to when they had their hand in it there, so it's like enforcement on net.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Is the center belt buckle the line that they have to? Dude, all right. What's going on here? It's been two and a half years of this, which Juan Taylor. Everyone watching at home sees this Chiefs tackle, get off the line before the snap. Every single person sees this at home. I'm not crazy, he is getting an early jump.
Starting point is 00:03:24 And he needs that early. I'm not crazy. He is getting an early jump and he needs that early jump because he not good. He's a not, he's a not a good football player, not a good a football player. Why did you turn Italian? Not a good a football player. Why did he turn into the guy on the pizza box? He's getting three tens of a second. He's getting three tens of a second jump on all these pass rushers. We see it every game. At what point? The NFL is like, okay, point of emphasis, illegal shifts before the snap. Cool. What about the guy that is constantly cheating every snap? What if it's just you? It's not,
Starting point is 00:03:57 what if he's just got such an immaculate jump off the line every single time? He's like, he gets there before everybody else and you're just seeing it a little different. Well, everybody in my house was seeing it different. My wife is like, is that guy getting off the line early? I'm like, yes, yes. They're gonna name the rollout to him. He's like the most triggering tailor on a chief's broadcast, which is saying something.
Starting point is 00:04:17 A tackle on a pass play is one of the funniest things in sports. If we just like made everyone else on the field disappear, just like the way they're standing like awkwardly and then they're like, like it's just such a ridiculous athlete. That is what they do. Like their main job is just to like,
Starting point is 00:04:32 it's just so awkward. How bummed was everybody when that game got delayed till 840? Dude, what? I was fighting. Has it always been like that? No, no, no, there was lightning. 820 is usual start.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Yeah, there was lightning in the area, so they delayed the kickoff, and my eyes were heavy. I say this every year. Or every year, yeah. Like, I don't know how you guys do this, this East Coast time watching games. Like, this is ridiculous. Ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:04:59 It was 1140, and they were still playing, and I'm like, God, just get the game. But I don't want the game starting when I'm like trying to figure out dinner. Like, I like the way it is here, that I can get dinner playing. And I'm like, just got to get there. But I don't want the game starting when I'm trying to figure out dinner. I like the way it is here with us. I can get dinner. And then afterwards, now I'm done with this. Seven o'clock hours for dinner,
Starting point is 00:05:12 and now I can focus on the game. Chris, if you experience it on the West Coast, you're like, oh, I can get used to this. And it's a valid criticism. Every time that the West Coasters say, you guys are doing it wrong, all I can do is nod along and say, yeah, can't change where I'm at.
Starting point is 00:05:23 I guess I could move. I mean, do you eat dinner at 9 PM? Like, I want to eat my dinner while I'm watching the first quarter. And yesterday, I ate my dinner, and then I had a two hour wait until a kickoff. It was ridiculous. Wait, what time did you have dinner?
Starting point is 00:05:35 Like, 7. Oh. I timed out the Door Dash wings. That was never going to be the first quarter, though. I timed out the Door Dash wings. I wish it was. That's the point. You know what?
Starting point is 00:05:42 I wanted nice, hot wings to go with a kickoff, and then I was eating a full sports bar meal like 40 minutes before the game got started. I hated that. Well, dinner time kind of starts differently when you have children, because that's a little bit earlier now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:58 It starts at like six. See, now let me ask you this, Roy, and everybody who asks kids, do you guys do the family dinner thing every time? Yep. Every time? I'm telling you, sometimes you just gotta be like, yo, kid, your meal is now.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Oh, no. You know what we call it? Sometimes we have a picnic in the living room. Yeah. I have a fancy restaurant for me. Juliet gets to name the fancy restaurant. And I'm usually hungry at that point if it's on the weekend and I just need that Italian food to hit right
Starting point is 00:06:27 at that moment, picking a timing guys out. Chris, describe picnic night. Do you put out a little picnic blanket? Picnic night is usually when we Uber eat something. So the Uber Eats comes in and we sit down on the floor, we just break it down and we're just sitting on the floor. It's really nothing outside of that. Surrounded by same-end Gundy pizza boxes.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Yeah. Yeah, look, sometimes I'm just like, I have multiple, I got three, so it's a lot. Sometimes it's just like, you, there, go, get out of here. Three, there's, having a family dinner is sometimes like a to-do. It's absolutely a to-do, man. And it's just like, and you can't get them to shut up.
Starting point is 00:07:01 That's the other thing. They won't shut up, like just eat. Like if I'm sitting there, and all I hear is yap yap yap yap. But isn't the family dinner the time to talk and catch up? No, our family dinner has a lot of range. There are some dinners where it's like, this is just gonna be a phone dinner, you can have your tablet, I'm on my phone,
Starting point is 00:07:15 my wife's on her phone, we don't even look at each other. Phone dinner. And then there are also dinners where I turn into like a guy from the 50s and I'm like, we're gonna be humans, you put that tablet away, how was your day? What'd you learn today? There's a difference though. Mike,s and I'm like, we're gonna be humans? You put that tablet away? How was your day? What'd you learn today?
Starting point is 00:07:26 It is a difference though. Mike, Chris and I have one child, Amin has multiple. The multiple children are talking to each other. Each other. All children are talking to us. Talking to each other and talking. I struggle. I think about when I was a kid,
Starting point is 00:07:41 was I this damn boring? Because they talk about the dumbest things. It's just references. You were. No, I wasn't. I promise you. You were seven? This is what they do.
Starting point is 00:07:52 This is what they do. Remember when Skivity, he was Ohio. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. That's the whole conversation. No, I got it. And then they just repeat it over and over again. Hey, hey, my, Skibbity, Ohio. Ha ha ha ha ha.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Mixed in a Skibbity toilet at least. Whatever, I don't even. That's so 2023. My daughter called me bruh the other day. Bruh. I get some bruhs sometimes. Is that the bruh? I'm your dad.
Starting point is 00:08:21 I'm just like, what are you doing? I think that this is a generational divide in that when we were kids, we were entertained seemingly by the same things that our parents were. Everyone was approaching things from a level point in pop culture because YouTube wasn't a thing. Now kids, things go viral, all the kids in high school know about the skibbity thing right?
Starting point is 00:08:45 But adults have no frame of reference for it adults used to have frame of reference for things that entertained kids like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Oh, yeah, that's on channel 30. I got you. Yeah, we got it, but skibbity. I'm out of the loop when I was a kid I lived in the central time zone and the first quarter was always at dinnertime and it was amazing in the central time zone and the first quarter was always at dinner time and it was amazing. And last night. That's what's happening, you were engineered socially. It was amazing, oh 7.30 sit down, watch the first quarter and then you'd ease your way into the living room
Starting point is 00:09:14 for the second half right after dinner. Said last night, I'm eating at like seven, the game starts at nine, by 10.30, like complete crash. I tweeted like maybe a minute of game of clock was left in the first half, like I don't know if I'm gonna make it to the second half. And I fell asleep like I think 30 seconds later because I missed the end of the first half
Starting point is 00:09:33 and slept until like 12, 30. And then I was like, well, I think I missed the whole game. Dude, isn't that one of the most amazing things when you have a very vivid memory of the clock being like three seconds to go. It was like a minute and 10 seconds. And then you say, I don't remember half time. Like how did I go from like, I'm watching this to,
Starting point is 00:09:51 I'm completely knocked out in three seconds. You live in Arizona and sometimes you're like three hours back and sometimes you're two hours back. That would really mess me up. It does and it doesn't. It doesn't mess me up because I don't have to change any clocks in the cars or whatever. So from when to when is it two hours behind?
Starting point is 00:10:08 It's whenever you, whenever daylight, whatever. I don't even know what daylight savings and daylight regular standard is. So you'd be surprised. It's from like November to March. Yes, it's winter time. It's just an hour though. Winter time, we're mountain time,
Starting point is 00:10:19 summer time, we're Pacific time. I had to deal with this when I worked with Golic because half the year he was three hours behind, half the year he was two hours behind, and I had to figure out Arizona time, and I'm not equipped for that. I tell you, sometimes it comes in handy, sometimes it bites you in the ass.
Starting point is 00:10:34 For instance, I have a radio show that I do a serious XMNBA radio on Sundays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern. Jason Jackson. With Jason Jackson, that's right. And during the winter, that show starts at 8 a.m. my local time, which is a decent hour. Right now, up until the clock change,
Starting point is 00:10:51 it's a 7 a.m. start on a Sunday. So it's just like, ah, you know, I'm dragging to get there on time because obviously they want us there early to check in to make sure all the connections are working. So really talking about 6.30 in the morning. We're so old because our talking points after the game was how we were inconvenienced in our sleep.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I'm just saying, I'm like, look. We went into time zones, pre-stamp penalties, I thought we were on the right track. There were a lot of things to talk about that game, but then we took a hard left into Old Town. OK, well, I will swing the wheel right back into football and say, Travis Kelce's new hair, dumb. Dumb?
Starting point is 00:11:27 Dumb. He's doing this thing that celebrities do. I'm gonna push the limits here, where I'm so cool that I can do something like this and it'll still be cool. Can we talk about Mike getting dragged by the Chiefs' groundskeeper? Because he tweeted that Travis Kelce had a die job just like the Chiefs field, and apparently,
Starting point is 00:11:43 the Chiefs' groundskeeper did not like him. Yeah, groundskeeper and I have to walk it back. I got properly dragged by him. Look, I'm not gonna pretend, I'm a know it all. What did he say? He denied the accusation. For anybody that was watching, I'm sure you all noticed, man, this turf at Arrowhead is never this green.
Starting point is 00:12:00 And usually when a turf is that green, like Tampa Bay, they often paint their turf. And look, Kansas City often painted their turf too. You can usually tell by how much green is on the jerseys. It's an abnormal thing. So I put circumstantial evidence together. I saw a really bright green turf that I'd never seen before.
Starting point is 00:12:19 And I saw early in the game, a lot of neon green grass stains. And right then and there, I made the accusation that they dyed their field. By the way, Travis Kelce, that one's a lock. Definitely dying the mustache and hair. It's just much darker now.
Starting point is 00:12:33 But as I tweeted it, I was like, man, I should have had, I went for the joke, maybe I should have had a couple more series sample. And it became pretty evident that this was like, not a dye job, and this was not a die job and this was just a spectacular job because Arrowhead's hosting Kansas football games this year and it's never been, it's been a really difficult grounds
Starting point is 00:12:55 to keep and the groundskeeper worked me on social media and I just couldn't say anything. He said he worked you, what did he say? He said hey a die job, like you must have, what did he say? He was like, all right, Ryan Day. It's always a great compliment when people think it's died. And it was, then I knew.
Starting point is 00:13:13 I'm not gonna go at the groundskeeper and say, oh, you're lying. I'm not gonna do that. You should have done that. I mean, that's so internet, but no, I was wrong about that. So I have to walk that back. And publicly, I have to walk back because there's this Twitter account
Starting point is 00:13:27 that's called DLS Corrections, that its whole existence is to point out when we screw up and get things wrong, which is often, which is kind of like this show. No, when we do that, it's on purpose. That's what people understand. So we had a, like finally, I got a good NASCAR segment when it came to Tyler Reddick.
Starting point is 00:13:44 But this account really wanted to hold onto the fact that Tyler Reddick after the race denied that he had shit and puked, which is okay, cool, we played the sound. I mean, it was pretty obvious. It's pretty obvious, that dude shit himself, man. And also, there are beat writers that are covering this that have access to those radio comms,
Starting point is 00:14:02 and they made it pretty evident that this was happening but afterwards Tyler Reddick denied the claims and there's there's a good amount of evidence that suggests that maybe we misinterpreted it maybe Tyler Reddick didn't shit his pants but my whole thing is let the legend live we all had fun. No I did hear he only sharted. Well and Mike the other thing is also, what I'm hearing is that we don't have any confirmation that he didn't shit himself. He's denying it. He's denying it.
Starting point is 00:14:31 He's like, I fought it the entire race. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, like, if you shat yourself right now, would you be on air talking about, yeah, guys, I just shat myself. Yeah, it's happening. He'd be like, no. Power through, though. He'd power through.
Starting point is 00:14:40 We're opening the door to, I think, appropriate scrutiny, which is, Tyler Reddick has everything in the door to, I think, appropriate scrutiny. Which is, Tyler Reddick has everything in the world to gain by saying he didn't shit himself. But I would argue, you had one of the more heroic sports performances of all time. Lean in. Be the guy that shit himself and puked himself
Starting point is 00:14:57 and still won a regular season championship. Be that guy. Does it diminish it now though, Mike? If he didn't? Makes it a little less fun for me. Now granted, the guy spent three and a half hours behind a wheel fighting off, shitting, and puking. That might be more impressive than shitting yourself,
Starting point is 00:15:10 by the way. Because he didn't get the relief. Like, we could hold it. No, there's nothing that makes you drive faster than when you got to go. But you already went, though. But you already went, though. No, but we're saying that if he didn't go.
Starting point is 00:15:22 If he didn't go. At that point, you can't hold that. Whatever's coming out there, you don't hold that whatever's coming out there You don't know it comes out. You can I don't he couldn't well He said he claims he did and now you're setting yourself up for this exit Yeah, but come at you sometimes you will sit on the toilet And you're like I've had a lot of feelings and there's got to be a lot in this toilet And you stand up and it's just like one little like like a piece of a poop fight
Starting point is 00:15:44 Yeah, you ever had that where you like nugget you're constipated right that's what I know that but I'm just saying but sometimes you don't realize you'll have the feeling of like oh I've done some work here and then you stand up and it's like one little pebble let me get what happened to Tyler back on track for a second the hair I don't know if the chiefs groundskeeper was referring to Travis Kelsey's die job or the grasses job but what he responded to Mike was, thank you for the compliment.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Nothing better than people thinking it's died. That's a good point. We don't know if he's actually talking about the field. But then there was a subsequent follow up where he said, we try to never die at all. Which, again, try to never die doesn't mean we never die. And then he said, only thing died the last few years is one pass down the hashes for an AFC
Starting point is 00:16:25 Championship game in January try to progress here every week all season pre germ time seedings grow tarps I don't care about that field heat are all used to keep it natural every week again could be about the hair Obviously is between the hashes once you get into like week 12 I mean the offensive lines just turn that field up you gotta die that field Oh, yeah come winter time January, which is what he said Which is why I was like this this is a place that often up. You gotta die to that field. Oh yeah, come winter time, January, which is what he said, which is why I was like, this is a place that often dies their field, paints it green.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Tampa, Chicago, keep an eye out on that one. These are places that it's historically difficult to keep the grounds. You think George Tomah would have the answer? Well, that's also what I was doing is like, I don't even want to respond to this guy because I'm a Tomah guy. I mean, we're all Tomah guys over here.
Starting point is 00:17:05 I think we should get George Tomah on the phone, try and figure out, hey, you watched that game last night. You think that's a die job? We can't ignore the elephant in the room though, is that that turf looked mighty nice. Arrowhead has never looked better on my television. I don't see anything wrong with ignoring the elephant in the room, Mike.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Better than FedEx field. Let's talk about Lamar Jackson and that final play. And Isaiah likely not only becoming tight end one for the Ravens while Andrews is on the field, but arguably becoming tight end one for the league in one game. A star-making performance that would have been solidified even more were not for that much of a toe. But let's talk about what happened before that, which is Lamar Jackson, an athlete that we've never seen at that position, people have their thoughts and opinions about him, he has Zay Flowers open.
Starting point is 00:17:50 And he only has Zay Flowers open because of the chaos that he creates in that backfield. Chris Jones was unbelievable yesterday. Offensive line was bad. Dude, yeah, but, all right, so Baltimore's a really tough offensive line to evaluate, at least for me, because Lamar Jackson is such a great runner that part of what he does is he holds the ball
Starting point is 00:18:10 and he tries to draw in the pass rushers so he can then take off. And that puts the offensive line in a difficult spot because they almost have to kind of be bad for Lamar to be great. And Lamar is kind of almost making them look extra bad because he's setting the defense up. But in that play that I'm referring to,
Starting point is 00:18:29 the likely toe we should throw up there because that's how close we were to not covering last night Chris. Oh boy. Oh my God. When John Harbaugh threw up the two I was. Dude, that felt like I don't want to do the whole scripted thing but the way they cut,
Starting point is 00:18:42 it's like the play happens touchdown signaled They just cut real quickly to him going for two I shit myself and then they show the read it was just like it could not have written that ending right that or Kevin Durant's toe. What do you think was a Smaller margin of this one. Yeah, Kevin Durant was like clearly on the line. He wasn't clear They had to like squint and enhance and enhance, the zoom and enhance. I felt like I was in a 90s action movie. Enhance, enhance.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Taylor's saying before the show, we shouldn't be able to enhance. Like what are we doing with replay if we can't enhance? He says replay's too good. It is too good. No it's not. Dude, 20 years ago that's a touchdown. And it shouldn't have been.
Starting point is 00:19:21 No, but like, I like, this is what was happening. They're robbing us of the fun of those moments. Like, oh my God, he did it. What an amazing play to come back and win the game. I mean, it's plenty fun when likely you find out that his toe is just out, because that's also going to, that made live more, that toe being over made live more and resonate
Starting point is 00:19:42 than him actually catching that touchdown. Like when Max Deuce was out of bounds, but not out of bounds. Everyone remembers that. That was hovering though, that was different. That one was very tricky. I honestly don't remember that. To Taylor's point, I will say this.
Starting point is 00:19:55 If we're not gonna go all the way with technology for downs and for ball placement, all these things, we're not gonna put chips on everyone in the ball to do yardage, everything. Then we can't have these replays that zoom all the way in so we can see like a sliver of a toe over a line. It's either what the refs can see in real time or we go all in on technology.
Starting point is 00:20:17 We're right in this like in between where it must be impossible to be a referee because if you're able to like stop freeze frame, zoom in on something, how is he gonna see that in the field? And then it just kills the momentum of a drive. And I don't know, I'm with the mean. It makes it a little bit less fun.
Starting point is 00:20:31 I don't wanna watch auditors. I don't like watching IRS audits. I like watching people make money. Guys, last night was plenty fun for me. If you had the Chiefs, really fun. I'm complaining about something that I slept through. I've got the Duranto, by the way, right here on the screen. Like, that's how grainy it is. We've got the Duranto, by the way, right here on the screen.
Starting point is 00:20:45 That's how grainy it is. We really can't tell. We've come a long way, because this is way more grainy than last night's one. I will say soccer has a real issue on its hands, because it's made the game a lot less fun to watch for me, and I'm watching less of it because of VAR. I can't be emotionally invested in buildups
Starting point is 00:21:01 unless it's obvious to the eye, because I'm always looking out. Mike, it's the dumbest thing ever. The whole point of the offside rule in soccer is that you don't have people cherry picking. Now we're getting people called offside because his elbow broke the plane. Like that's not the-
Starting point is 00:21:15 Like a shirt sleeve. I agree in soccer. That's not the spirit of the rule. I'm with Mike. During the Olympics, there was that, I think it was Mel Swanson's goal to put them ahead. I didn't even celebrate I was like, oh that's coming back I don't know how soccer players do it
Starting point is 00:21:32 They score and then they do a full celebration and then like five times out of ten There's like it's coming back Chris lost a bet and they had to bring the guys back out on the field two hours later Insane that was absurd. What I mean never bet in game on soccer and I did that one time. What Amin is saying is absolutely right in terms of spirit of the rule. There has to be a general margin of error that you adhere to when it comes to the offside role. You should be allowed to have a shirt sleeve offside.
Starting point is 00:21:57 But back to the Lamar Jackson play where he misses an open Zay Flowers in the end zone. It's kind of hard to criticize Lamar because he did everything to create the open receiver, but Tony that was a really bad miss. He missed Rashad Bateman who was also open running a different route in the area. So when Zay Flowers looks back, he sees Rashad Bateman running in front of him like, oh that must be to him. And he's hauling ass going this way and the ball's going behind him. He literally threw it between both of them wide open. Keep an eye on- It's a bad angle for us seeing it from the pocket where he was
Starting point is 00:22:28 looking at because we don't have that spider cam view at least from what they played on the replay. But it was like an egregious miss. Keep an eye on the Bateman thing because he was plenty frustrated. Multiple misses with Bateman last night. Well, he was plenty frustrated. Biggest one he caught though. There was a point in that game, I looked at my cousin along, like is every play to Zay Flowers? Every play to this guy, and also it's not the most efficient play.
Starting point is 00:22:50 At one point, like he's touching the ball 30 times and they got like 28 yards to show for it. What are we doing? Hold on, I wanna stop you somewhere. You said you looked at your cousin-in-law. I don't think in-laws go extend past like daughter, brother. I should just call him cousin. I usually call him cousin. I don't think in-laws go extend past daughter, brother, son. Yes, your wife's cousin.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Well, I call him cousin. I usually call him cousin. Or that. He calls you chef. He calls you chef, yeah. So I guess he was under the impression that this game might have been on ABC or something like that. He's a DirecTV customer.
Starting point is 00:23:21 And he had already missed out on a game, so they came over to the house, I was like, why don't you guys say, we'll have dinner. And then, by the fourth quarter, I was really regretting that, because my eyes were like really falling asleep. I would have missed that game entirely. I'm glad I fought it off, because it was a great finish.
Starting point is 00:23:37 It was kind of an odd game, I don't really know if anybody played well, except for Isaiah Likely. Rashid Rice played really well. Yeah, well that was always open, like at what point, I know they have a different defensive coordinator, played well except for Isaiah likely. Rashid Rice played really well. Yeah. Well, that was always open. At what point? I know they have a different defensive coordinator.
Starting point is 00:23:48 At what point does Baltimore stop putting a linebacker on Rashid Rice? On really fast wide receiver? Yeah. Tough. In the slot. They didn't have an answer for that. Xavier Worthy, by the way, is going to be great for them.
Starting point is 00:23:58 They just keep drafting the fastest guys on the planet. What is happening over there? They keep hitting, but then missing on guys, too. Michael Hardman was supposed to be that next guy where he's like blazing speed he's super fast and he's not that good but Xavier worthy I don't know if he's gonna be an every down like this guy's gonna be a Rashid Rice type but he has those busts like huge plays where it's like okay the bills traded that pick like Xavier worthy could have been a bill but they traded the pick and
Starting point is 00:24:22 they took Keon Coleman so now the pressure is on Keon Coleman heavy-footed Keon Coleman Have weight home heavy looks like he's a bit cement footed. Ah, come on guys Tony would you call him earlier? Tell them Benjamin? One over reaction before the game start because that's what it feels like we're doing right now I just heard everything for campy. I'm all for this on Monday, but you guys, they haven't even, we've watched one NFL game play this season. And the reports, the reports on him have been good.
Starting point is 00:24:51 It's kinda all over the place with Keon Coleman. Keon Coleman in college, I thought he was a good player, he had a really good quarterback, but if you look at every time that they targeted him, it wasn't the most efficient thing. It was like kind of like Zay Flowers, like why are we force feeding this person if they're only gonna come down with a ball
Starting point is 00:25:07 like 50% of the time? I will say on that third down where he hunched behind the line and then all of a sudden everybody was like, where did he go? And then he just kind of pops out. It was a great open field tackle by the safety or whoever was covering him, but it was a great play. You know, I really wish we had Stu Gatz here
Starting point is 00:25:21 cause I wanna ask him. He said that last night was a must win game for the Ravens, and they lost. So what does this mean now for Baltimore? Seasons over. Smells like football. It smells like football.

Don LeBretard. Number three, Chick-fil-A waffle fries. Yeah, we can get mine. Love it. I mean. Nah, I think it's an overrated fry. You guys go ketchup or Chick-fil-A waffle fries. Yeah, we can get mine. Love it.
Starting point is 00:28:45 Nah, I think it's an overrated fry. You guys go ketchup or Chick-fil-A sauce? When you have the Chick-fil-A. Polynesian sauce. Polynesian, that's my brother right there. Good call. You're my brother. Stugats.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Oh my God. What a weird interaction. White guys! What, what, what, what, what, why? Wow. This is the Don Lebatar Show with the StuGuts. You know, it occurred to me as I asked where StuGuts should have asked them about last night. Did he even stay for the game?
Starting point is 00:29:18 I'm not exactly sure. It was a really difficult ticket to get. I saw, I heard Billy, I was watching their pregame show, which was fun, and they mentioned that they got, I don't know if it was tickets or media credential, they all had access, and the debate was whether Stugatz was actually gonna show up, but I saw his classic awkward, self-blurry selfie from inside the stadium. You got the posture down.
Starting point is 00:29:38 He was at least, like, where it's just so awkward. He's definitely using two hands. Two hands to steady the cam. I've got the picture up on the screen right now. Keep an eye on Stugatz's social media usage, by the way. Yeah, what's going on there? He's way more active. Very interesting. Is it a contract here? What's happening? I'm not going to say what I know, but I know that someone has been helping him run his account.
Starting point is 00:29:59 It's Taylor. Oh, it's obvious that someone's helping him because he's getting clips out from the show on there. And I'm just like, either Stugatz's daughter, or they have College Football 25, or? He's denied the claims. I don't believe it. I mean, there's no claim. I'm not making any claims.
Starting point is 00:30:14 I'm just saying he's been very active on social media. Maybe Mikey A. Mikey A's doing something. And whoever's doing it, they've captured his voice very well. And it was almost like, should you be posting this on social? Should we expose more of the world to Sugata's takes? He's putting show clips out, he's doing his takes on Twitter, and he's getting good engagement with them.
Starting point is 00:30:32 I did a scroll yesterday, and I was just like, wow, a lot of tweets the last few weeks. If we could throw that picture up again, that is certainly not the press box. So they got tickets to the game. They got tickets to the game, and it was a very difficult ticket to get. And my heart was warned by seeing Billy
Starting point is 00:30:51 in clips of Billy recording content out there. You could see the joy on Billy's face. And I texted him on the side, I'm like, how awesome is that place? Because I've been to Kansas City for a week one affair, and it is a very special place. He was having the time of his life. A lot of people with a ticket that were lucky enough special place. He was having the time of his life. A lot of people with a ticket
Starting point is 00:31:05 that were lucky enough to get a ticket were having the time of their life. And if you wanna be lucky enough to have a ticket to a sold out event like last night surely was, you only have so many options. Well, let me tell you the best option on the secondary market. I'm talking of course about the game time app.
Starting point is 00:31:20 For all of football season, this needs to be the first app that you open up. If you're interested in seeing a big game in your market. Or abroad, create an account and use the code DAN for $20 off your first purchase, TermSupply. Download the Game Time app today. Chris, what time is it?
Starting point is 00:31:37 Game time! Who? It's another big game tonight. Awkward, I don't like the Friday night thing. Like NFL, enough. Enough. Enough. What are you guys doing? Enough. Friday night thing like NFL enough enough enough guys doing is for high school football only the first week of the season you're gonna go watch Columbus and Booker T tonight I'm gonna watch that you're gonna drive to st. Thomas oh yeah I'll be there I'm sure Bishop
Starting point is 00:31:59 Gorman's on ESPN you IMG Academy are you anti high school football I love high school football but sounds like you're antihigh school football? No, I love high school football. I love high school football, but. Sounds like you're anti-high school football. Can I stop all of you? Go Nolan. I know we're in the take business, and we gotta like, oh, Friday, I'm gonna rip it. You're all gonna be fine.
Starting point is 00:32:14 OK, it's one week. It's NFL. NFL football. Everyone's just like, I can't believe it. No, college football's infringing on Friday nights too now. Hold on, Chris. Don't be a simpleton. This is how they started Thursday night football.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Used to be, oh, it's just week one! It's just week one! And I loved that. And then all of a sudden, we started getting a bunch of shitty games on Thursday nights. Last night was shitty? No, not the-
Starting point is 00:32:37 I was touching my nipples the entire fourth quarter last night. I'm not talking about week one. You don't lose the plot. Week one is always, they're trying to get you. It's they're trying to get you. But when you got Jags Titans color clash. You got Dolphins Bills on Thursday Night Football in a couple weeks. Occasionally it's good.
Starting point is 00:32:49 Occasionally they got a good one. Most of, I think we can all agree, most of the slate is bad on Thursday nights and on top of it, even when the matchup is good, the play is terrible because they've had four freaking days of rest. So don't tell me, oh this is a one off thing, you'll be fine. Because I know in three years, the greedy ass NFL, they're going to do it to us again. They're like, guess what? We've got Friday night football now. Good. I don't know. It's one thing to take over a Thursday. It's one thing to take over a Monday,
Starting point is 00:33:17 but I already devote plenty of my weekend to football. Friday's my one weekend night to take care of the family. So I got, I got a life. I'm with Mike on that. My wife would kill me if there was NFL football every Friday. I don't think the NFL's allowed to do Friday night game. There's going to have to be legislation, because they're not supposed to have Friday night
Starting point is 00:33:37 games in September through like December or something? What Jess is saying is right. There used to be. A sports broadcasting act or something like that? I took a sports administration class where the anti-trust laws protected the college football window from the NFL and now we're gonna have college football
Starting point is 00:33:51 playoff games in NFL windows. So I think all of that stuff is starting to fall by the wayside. But it's Friday, a college football night? Yeah. Yeah. There's SMU BYU tonight. Bastards, man. Yeah, but that's all right.
Starting point is 00:34:03 But I also don't love college football on Friday. You can skip that. College football's for Saturday. Nothing, no, Friday. And match is for Tuesday. Yo, Friday is Friday. Friday's let me be human once a week. So I have to make, let's take tonight for example. It's a great sports night.
Starting point is 00:34:16 You have Faux versus Fritz in the US Open, that's prime time. You have two Americans fighting for an appearance in the final, that's going to be really dramatic. You have Eagles Packers, which is if we're going to send a game to Rio and do this Friday thing, why are we sending a banger of a game over there? Also, I don't know if you've seen the reports, but teams, people can't, people are worried about the colors that they're wearing in, in this place. They're, They're worried they can't leave their hotels. For that, just keep the game in Philadelphia.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Dude, among other things also, we got Link's fever tonight, we got Ace's son tonight, and like we've got, this is- Those are really good games. Great games, great games. Give us some breathing room. We've been giving London crap games for a decade,
Starting point is 00:35:02 and we're giving, like, I'm with you, Mike. This game should be Sunday, this should be a 425 kickoff. It's a big night for NFL Threads, though. This is your moment, Threads. If NFL Threads is ever gonna be a thing, tonight is the night because X is banned in Brazil, which makes it difficult for a lot of these beat writers to do their job during the game.
Starting point is 00:35:22 So that's something to keep an eye out for, but I'm faced with all these difficult decisions, but I also, since it is a weekend, I gotta also manage my personal life. And so the decision that I made was, I'm gonna watch Beetlejuice Beetlejuice tonight. Tonight? Yeah, I'm gonna go tonight because I can't go tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:35:38 You got the Canes play and it's six o'clock. And I love college, it's a great tremendous college football slate tomorrow. That's my football day. Friday can't be my football day What's really I'm not even it's not even the the the football game that's entering the equation because Beetlejuice Beetlejuice all day Especially with the good reviews of it I'm really bummed about the US Open and hopefully I imagine that game so going to be going that match is still going to be going
Starting point is 00:36:00 So I'll be able to catch the tail end of that because that's what I'm more into tonight But this game, I don't understand it, I don't know why we're doing it in Brazil. I know why they're generally doing these remote games, but out the box, a Friday, week one, a banger of a game, everyone seems to be miserable that they're doing this thing. I just don't get it. I need one weekend night that is not dedicated to football. You're putting me and my family in a very difficult position. Next Friday you'll get it, no biggie, next Friday you't get it. I need one week a weekend night that is not dedicated to football You're putting me and my family in a very different next Friday. You'll get it. No biggie next Friday. You'll get it Yeah, but Beetlejuice Beetlejuice like these movies stay in the theaters now for like three weeks and then they're out dude You gotta get it. You gotta get it when it's hot. I gotta go right now for date night
Starting point is 00:36:36 Yeah, I gotta get a sitter like this is when you have a kid things are difficult and I can't have the NFL which I love And I really want wanna watch this game, I can't have that getting in the way. Like, it's too much. You guys have won. You're running up the score right now. It's like, Urban Meyer's the commish. What are we doing?
Starting point is 00:36:54 The whole beauty of it was it was like, one day a week, I'm dedicated to this. And then it's like, and Monday. All right, Monday night. All right, one day a week and Monday night. And then it was like- I'm happy for it on Monday night. And then they're like, hey, and also Thursdays. Okay, one day a week and Monday night. And then it was like, I'm happy for it on Monday night. And then they're like, hey, and also Thursdays.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Okay, one day a week and Monday night and also Thursday night. I'm good with one more. No. Give me Friday and then I'm good. You guys, Duke versus Northwestern is tonight. Do you know how many consultants are gonna miss the NFL game because they're watching Duke at Northwestern?
Starting point is 00:37:20 Did you see the Northwestern stadium this year? They're temporary. Yes, and I have a take about this. First of all, it's gorgeous. It's on Lake Michigan, and it looked beautiful, but it is going to be so cold and windy there in like two weeks. Catfish, can you say catfish?
Starting point is 00:37:35 The practice facility that they built is brand new. It's also on the water. I played soccer there before, freezing. They got the drone shots and everything, and everyone's like, oh, that's so awesome, it's gonna be so cool, whatever. I thought of just some dumb kid somewhere, like in California, being like, oh, they got cool beaches too over there.
Starting point is 00:37:53 And then he's gonna go, and within a month of the start of school, he'll be like, this? I'm telling you, right now, it is already in the 60s this weekend in the Midwest. It went from like 95 degrees last week to now it's pretty chilly again. In the first week of October there's always a frost. It is going to be so cold on the lake.
Starting point is 00:38:10 But it does look beautiful, I will give them that. Yeah, they did this just for everything that they could get that last weekend of August for their propaganda and recruiting tools. The content team went crazy. As soon as I saw that thing on the lake, I'm like, that is going to be arguably the worst place
Starting point is 00:38:25 to ever play a sport that ever exists. Come wintertime, I can't imagine being there, sitting in the upper deck watching Northwestern. I had a good year last year, especially when you consider the expectations. But that's got to be a miserable place come a couple weeks from now. There has to be laws and regulations against this, right?
Starting point is 00:38:45 You can't just build a stadium wherever you want, right? In a wind tunnel, like, that can't be, that can't be like, just, yeah, go ahead and knock yourself out. If you go to a baseball game here in this market, you kinda come away with a take that, yeah, I guess they can just put this wherever they want. And not make any sense whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:39:04 But I'm going to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice tonight. I'm really encouraged by the reviews. I'm happy. Everything that I've seen from Tim Burton and the press is really encouraging. Michael Keaton's in the film for the exact same amount of time that he was in the first one. Which if you remember, wasn't very long.
Starting point is 00:39:18 It's only in, his screen time I think was like 17 minutes. Why was he not in it for very long? I don't understand. Isn't he Beetlejuice? Yes, but the whole point is like you have to summon him. So like he can't just be around all the time. He needs to be gone in order to be summoned. But Mike, I'm glad that you want to talk about Beetlejuice
Starting point is 00:39:35 because I want to talk about something specific. And that's Tim Burton casting his love interests in movies. Always. Enough, dude. Enough. We get it. You're dating Monica Bellucci. We get it.
Starting point is 00:39:47 This one's a hell of a win for him though. Sure. He pulled out a big dub. Look, her, Elena Bonham Carter, beautiful and also a great actress as well, but like, yo dude, like. Yeah, and Ned Wood, he started doing it too, and Mars Attacks, and.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Wait, they got divorced, Elena Bonham Carter? Yeah, yeah. Now he's dating Monica Bellucci, and guess what she's doing now. Has, they got divorced, Helena Bonham Carter. Yeah, yeah. Now he's dating Monica Bellucci, and guess what she's doing now? Hasn't been in a movie in like 100 years, all of a sudden, let's put her in Beetlejuice. Is she the Beetlejuice's ex-fiance? I think so, because in the trailer, she's missing a finger,
Starting point is 00:40:16 and if you watch the first Beetlejuice, there's a point where he's getting married to Winona Ryder, and he pulls out the ring, and he's like, fuck, she meant nothing to me, nothing at all. That's a pretty good fetal jujube. It was in that moment, don't ask me to recreate it. But everything that I've read about it is encouraging.
Starting point is 00:40:31 For example, Tim Burton was asked, hey, why isn't Gina Davis and Alec Baldwin in this movie? And he's like, because I was telling a story, and it didn't make sense for them to be in this story. I thought he just said, because Alec Baldwin shot somebody. Well, that could be part of the reasons too, but. She's been in a lot of movies in the last 10 years.
Starting point is 00:40:48 I know she was in one of those Liam Neeson movies. We did it for her. Monica Bellucci? Yes, she was in the Passion of the Christ. She was in memory. She was in memory, the movie where Liam Neeson has Alzheimer's, he's a hit man with Alzheimer's. Oh, that's great.
Starting point is 00:41:00 Oh my God, yeah, you gotta watch that one. I will find you if I can remember where you are. He gets in the car, he forgets why he got in the car in the first place. It's actually a great premise room movie. One of the Matrix movies as well. I think it was reloaded. Yeah, but that movie's terrible.
Starting point is 00:41:13 What? Apparently the- Bad Matrix movie. Apparently the story behind this sequel is the story that Tim Burton wants to tell is a story about the generations of parenting, the relationship between a grandmother, a mother, and a daughter, and through the framework of this, you know, gothic whimsy Tim Burton universe, which I'm really
Starting point is 00:41:34 excited about. When I first saw that this sequel's being made, and the original came out in 1988, I was excited just because of the nostalgia aspects, but I'm like, okay, this is a cash grab, and I'm first in line, I'll be there, but I really hope that you do it for the right reasons, and it seems as though they're telling a good story, and they really worked on this, and careful amount of thought. Tim Burton apparently almost retired after Dumbo,
Starting point is 00:41:58 which I kinda like. My daughter loves that movie. He did the live action Dumbo? Yeah, my daughter really liked that movie. I didn't mind it, but it apparently almost made him quit his entire career. Bastard. I love Tim Burton movies. He's one of my favorite filmmakers, but you know, he kind of got worse the more CGI got involved in movies because it gave like this like really blurry hue to all his films and all Tim Burton's films, the practical sets,
Starting point is 00:42:26 especially in Beetlejuice and the Batman movies, they really suck out. Practical set design is what I like so much about Alien Romulus. He did Frankenweenie? That's a good movie. Speaking of Tim Burton, it's almost night before Christmas time.
Starting point is 00:42:38 I went to Publix the other day, there's pumpkins. There's pumpkins everywhere. Guys, guys. Travis Kelce last night looked like he was dipped inside a pumpkin spice latte with his little outfit on. This acceleration of the seasons has to end. We cannot allow corporate America to just usher us straight out of summertime into Halloween.
Starting point is 00:43:00 We gotta hold two damn months before that happens. In August. Jeremy is drinking a PSL right now. I'm drinking a pumpkin spice latte as we speak basic broad I feel like one of the most overused takes in all of takery mm-hmm these days is Slow down with the holidays no relax Thanksgiving or relax. I just got to ha we're not even to Halloween yet And I'm already it's like I go in the robot What's going on? I like that living mean you are usually such a free like such a unique thinker don't do this take I want to live in the moment thinker. I like the tread is is so worn on this wood
Starting point is 00:43:37 Would the red on this take is just worn Chris's team pumpkin. I'm not even I'm not even pro. I say it I'm so tired pro, it's just- You are, just say it. I'm so tired of that take. There's a pumpkin here. Slow down, Holladay. He's got a pumpkin stick on his Starbucks too. That lady did that. I didn't ask for that.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Hey, Chris. There's no pumpkin in there. Chris, happy new year. No! No! I do feel some kind of way about skipping Thanksgiving. Yeah. I like Thanksgiving. I like the communal aspect
Starting point is 00:44:05 I like the food and I just hate that we just skip right past it If my neighbor wants to put up a Christmas tree in October letter, no, it's just like who cares I just why don't we have to get on I make the rules for when the holidays can be celebrated I don't care what you do in the privacy room home I care about when I walk into my local supermarket and I gotta be inundated. They're trying to make money, they gotta get ahead of this.
Starting point is 00:44:30 No they don't. You're gonna make me sell pumpkins for two weeks? No! They're trying to make money because they themselves made this so commercial. So they're just feeding the machine that we're lamenting because it's too much. We gotta stand up together and take a stand against this.
Starting point is 00:44:45 No, I mean, no. You thinker. Putting up Christmas lights on your house is not the privacy of your own home. Like, that's affecting my sleep. Well, yes, you gotta turn that. I've never been. We'll give you some blackout.
Starting point is 00:44:56 I've never been. What, oh, right here. I asked Christmas lights are in your neighbors' house. I'm like in my bed trying to sleep. It's like, god damn, tell them to turn the Christmas lights off. Are these neighborhoods with the Griswolds? I think it's like, is this really an issue that you're running to?
Starting point is 00:45:06 Yes. No, that's not. Chevy chases down the street with his stupid ass lights and Roy's like, shut up already. The dammit in need, the damn lights are on again. Those damn flood lights, man, all over the house. And those flood lights are, like, do you guys have people in your neighborhoods
Starting point is 00:45:20 with the motion sensor flood lights? Oh, I used to have a guy in my neighborhood who did an entire light show to music. Like, he'd tune into the radio and he would play a song and he would do like a whole thing and he engineered it to all the things with dance and flash and it was crazy. People would just sit there on the block and block traffic and just like listen to...
Starting point is 00:45:38 Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Exactly. Maynard and Steve Roller. What did they do the other nine months of the year? They leave them up and just dump it in. No, I'm talking about Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Oh, that's a good point. They set up the tour.
Starting point is 00:45:51 It's a great gig for them. Get ready to count some money. They can't even tour in Florida anymore. No? No, is that a joke? Anymore? I missed a joke. That's a great joke, man.
Starting point is 00:46:02 That's a great joke, man. That's a great joke. Great, damn good joke. Damn good joke. Hit the button, hit the joke. That's a great joke man. That's a good joke. Damn good joke. Hit the button. Hit the button. The Siberian thing plays down here though. I was so fixated on orchestra. I was like, which one was orchestra? Orca? Orca? Or Sea World?
Starting point is 00:46:18 The arts in general really. That was, yeah. No, the violins. Great joke. You know what man? Where's the... I hit it already. No, you don't know it's up the nose here. Oh, where is it? Oh now you find okay? No, I can't even find it. Oh, I'll go to the next page. Oh next well he scans for that I want to talk to you guys about something that popped up in pop culture last night
Starting point is 00:46:41 Minor penalty two minutes asshole. Oh no! Self asshole? No, you're not. Wow. I fucking told Joe you didn't get him to do this type of shit. Away from the mic, I mean. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:46:53 All right. Well, do you have any takes on Linkin Park? No. All right, so we can kick you out for this one. I might join him. Linkin Park got back together and this was something that had been long rumor, there had been videos of the new Lincoln Park
Starting point is 00:47:08 kind of rehearsing and whatnot. So it's not quite the shock and awe of Oasis, but this is a band that for many in our audience means way more to them than Oasis ever did. And so obviously tragically, they lost Chester. They have to replace Chester. And for many people, that's a bridge too far. How do you lost Chester, they have to replace Chester, and for many people that's a bridge too far. How do you replace Chester?
Starting point is 00:47:27 He was so associated with their sound. But me, as someone that wasn't the biggest Linkin Park guy when it was happening, I will totally admit, their sound has aged with grace. Now that you frame everything with nostalgia and the fact that Chester is gone, I look back on their time, Hybrid Theory was a classic. They were really of their time,
Starting point is 00:47:49 which sometimes is a bit too much. My criticism when it was happening, as someone that had seen them live, number one, Chester Live was a bit of a struggle, but I think he would have aged well too with all the advancements in live auto-tune. I was kind of way too stubborn about manufactured bands. And to this day, I still kind of am.
Starting point is 00:48:08 I look at bands like Imagine Dragons, and I look down on my nose on them. And, I've done that before. Limited fake Imagine Dragons. But, you know, the timeline is kind of, you can scrutinize a timeline in the formation of Linkin Park and say, is this band manufactured?
Starting point is 00:48:24 And that's something, if you're a hipster or someone that's really stingy about these things, You can scrutinize a timeline in the formation of Linkin Park and say, is this band manufactured? And that's something if you're a hipster or someone that's really stingy about these things, you could hold against them. But there have been plenty of great bands that have been totally manufactured by record labels. Fun, that band Fun, they were totally just studio musicians that were getting all the scraps of songs and samples and putting out demos, and then they just realized, let's just put out an album.
Starting point is 00:48:48 And that's why they're not even together. They didn't even know each other, really. Yeah, they were basically considered themselves a super group because they were three different artists who sort of came together that had been in different bands. And Jack Antonoff was one of those people. He was the main person sort of producing some of that music, playing guitar for them.
Starting point is 00:49:05 And then, yeah, they put out two albums. They didn't really like each other all that much. And then they split up and jack started bleachers and producing for every pop artist that existed. Yeah, they didn't like each other because they never really knew each other to begin with. So that was kind of like my thing with Lincoln Park. It was kind of like two bands kind of put together,
Starting point is 00:49:22 hey, you guys should get this front person. And it worked And while it was totally trying to capitalize on that new metal thing They did it damn near better than anybody else But I they've gone away and really struggled with the loss of chester as you would because he was so associated with that band But I think now that they've come out on the other side and people look back on man in the end They're just like karaoke standards, this band. Those songs were all hits.
Starting point is 00:49:48 I mean, remember when they did the hybrid album with Jay-Z? Oh, dude. And it was like the biggest thing that existed. Moment in time. You might have a take on the Jay-Z mashup album. That was a classic. That was a classic. I listened to that album last week
Starting point is 00:50:02 on my drive up to Gainesville. It... I listened to that album last week on my drive up to Gainesville. It's... Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do Can I get an encore? Do you want one? That's the only link. Did he do the instrumental well on that? No. I thought he was trying to do Transylvanian Orchestra at a certain point.
Starting point is 00:50:21 Me and Roy were talking before the show. We don't know anything about Linkin Park. Roy, I imagine you like Linkin Park just because you might have heard their songs so much, but I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album.
Starting point is 00:50:39 I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. I'm just saying, I don't know anything outside of that album. Roy, I imagine you like Linkin Park just because you might have heard their songs so much in hockey arenas. No, I actually don't know who they are. In fact, I asked them, you did this with Linkin 182 though and I didn't believe you. No, I've never listened to their music.
Starting point is 00:51:00 I hardly pay attention to their music in the arena. But I asked them outside, hey, didn't Linkin Park do a song with Method Man? He said, no, it's Lipskisky. I'm like, well, they all look the same. Well, they all kind of sounded the same. But like I say, for that new metal era, Linkin Park, for that sound, if you like that rap rock thing, Linkin Park did it as popularly as anybody. And even though they were kind of manufactured, they perfected a formula.
Starting point is 00:51:27 But now, this isn't exactly Oasis, this isn't even like if the Smiths were ever to come back together, these aren't guys. The Smiths broke up? Not the Smiths, I love the Smiths. Who are the Smiths? You don't know the Smiths? I heard it.
Starting point is 00:51:41 Mr. and Mrs. Never heard, yeah, that's the only Smiths I know. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's gonna fall in love with you. The Smiths. Which one? I know who the Smiths are, but Amin doesn't know who the Smiths are. Morrissey and Johnny Maher, the Smiths are an incredible band.
Starting point is 00:51:52 There it is. You know when I hear the song? I always think of Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell on the boat in Miami Vice. Keeping a mojito in Cuba. Yeah. I know where we can find a good mojito. I didn't know there were so many Chinese people in Cuba. Yeah. I know where we can find a good mojito. I didn't know there were so many Chinese people in Cuba.
Starting point is 00:52:07 That movie had, it was kind of all over the place. Director's cut though. And yet it doesn't qualify for Cinephobes somehow, someway. Because I think the director's cut kind of frames it. Michael Mann is a genius and he's a mad genius specifically with that movie. The stories surrounding the making of that movie,
Starting point is 00:52:22 I think Rolling Stone did like a retrospective on it, it makes you like that movie more because it totally missed the mark. Apparently the story behind that movie was, Michael Mann just wanted to do this detective movie, this cop movie, and the only way he could get it made was, just call it Miami Vice, like I'm coming back to Miami Vice.
Starting point is 00:52:40 Yeah. Because the IP, man, Hollywood, man. That was the start of it. Yeah, that was his baby. What do you make of all these popcorn buckets that people are gravitating to? Oh, like the collector's item. Yeah, there's a popcorn bucket for beetle juice,
Starting point is 00:52:54 beetle juice, and. They're more expensive, right? Yeah, I imagine. Give me the paper. Wait, does the extra butter on the top layer for me? On the double. Does the beetle juice beetle juice one looked like, you know. Faleck in nature, this one, it's a sand worm,
Starting point is 00:53:08 so it's not like, I don't look at it and be like, I wanna hit it. Now these specialty buckets, how hard is it to cut a hole in the bottom? I don't know, but I- Hell yeah, oldest trick in the book. I was trying to figure out what the appeal is, and then I figured it out.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Well the appeal is the hole. Well. Gotta make sure the edges are the edges are yeah, you can bang it. That's one of the appeals I guess But movies in particular like we don't even have ticket subs anymore movie posters are pretty much all digital We've had essentially 20 years where movie memorabilia has kind of fallen by the wayside You don't even have fast food tie-ins anymore.
