2030 800 billion dollars will leave the global economy Because something that I'm seeing whenever I travel which is good. God. There's a lot of office space out there that is closed These were vibrant businesses, but this feels a little bit like zombie apocalypse stuff when you start taking out the economies in a bunch of cities because everybody's working from home. And when I heard the number $800 billion globally, I'm like, wow, the pandemic really sort of shifted

what the human relationship with work is, which is fairly startling, thing to learn, right? I don't know how many of us had thought of it beforehand But what was brought home during the pandemic is that most people want to be working at home And want to have a different relationship with work and culturally young people are not gonna have the relationship with work that their parents and their grandparents Had with work especially if you create more halves and have not, where it's not worth it to go to work. Where getting inside of your machine is not worth it, I'd rather have a job that can pay me from home than having to do something that requires me to go to an office.

And it just got me to thinking this new, it's, oh, lazy. The young generation is. Yes. I did not get to thinking that that's where you were headed, right? No, young people change everything Hmm and young people get to decide what the future of popular things are a hell in a hand basket done and This seems like something I mean that is changing in a way that we're not gonna go back on lazy say it The funny thing is Joseph get your side is

Working from home actually leads to longer work hours because you're always on call. And it's more productive for the companies. It's less overhead because you don't have to not only pay for rent but also overhead utilities insurance for having a workplace. Is it more productive? Is that empirical? Because I wouldn't think it would be more productive?

It is it is because from Jeffrey Tuben, I imagine it is I don't want you to go ahead and ask him how it works from home. Hey, it was productive. All right. You've got CEOs and say, you've got some people willing to unpopularly say from the elite class of the rich, willing to say, get your asses back in the office. But there's not a valid philosophy

behind it other than that's how we've always done it, right? There are some jobs that require you to be in person, right? Some jobs need... Important ones, broadcaster. Like that. Like that. That shit they do when it goes to Maui and they call it from a closet amateurs. Something that, for instance, manufacturing for sure, right?

Any kind of service that you're performing, all the service jobs, I can't get a haircut over Zoom. I have to go to my barber shop to get a haircut. But when you talk about the vast majority of white collar jobs where people are doing fair... Fair collar. Data entry or any other school. Second place is blue.

They have to, I mean, they don't have to go in because there's nothing that makes the work better, quality or more accessible by them being in person. Do you guys have any opinions on this? I'm just curious whether, because you guys are coming from a different generation. Oh, much fun you have. Chris Cody and Lucy are coming from different generations.

They're- Are I being ignored? You should have some dissenting opinions on this show. He is coming from a different generation as well though. I like going back to work. I didn't, I was cool with when we worked from home for like a few months. My back started hurting. I just wanted the normal life feel of leaving every day and coming back. And when you're at home constantly, it's like you never really stop working,

so it's just, I like being back to normal. I think it should just pretty much be a choice. Like I know certain companies like the company, my dad works for, had a really tough time just trying to get people back into the office. So it became this decision of, do we force people to go back in the office, be miserable, or do we let them choose?

And so it's, at this point, if you're at a job that requires you to go in, that's not something like we do, where it's the product is a lot better in person, then like, why not just work at home? I don't really care. Do what you want. I don't know why people are so up in arms about this.

And guess what? Turn those old buildings into places for people to live. How about that? Yeah. Thank you. I just sold all the problems. Let me tell you, so many buildings people are living. If you walk outside, you walk outside.

As a person who's worked from home since 2020, every single day, it definitely plays a part into my depression because all I do is work. All I do is try to make everyone here look like great people. I mean, not assholes. That's hard work. That's a 24 hour job. Literally, especially, we've grown as a company,

so the work demand is a little different now. So I find myself some days, I won't even leave the house for like a day or two, and I don't realize that day. I don't have it on vitamin D or none of the just a human interaction that it takes for me to at least have confidence sometimes. So I think I struggle with it.

See, Dan, to me, it's kind of like when the NBA in 1998 said we need maximum salaries, because these salaries are out of control. And this is going to help us the owners. And the players are like, no, we won't have max salaries. That's awful for the players. And over time, what ended up happening was actually max salaries helps players,

because the number of people making unlimited money are very limited, and the number of NBA players who are modest middle class by their standards is much greater, and so that max salary allowed more of them to make money. Meanwhile, the owners are rather pay the most money to the guy who's actually responsible for the success. So it's actually flip flop from the original intention.

Same thing here. I think the original intention is the employees like I wanna work from home, I wanna be able to do and have my kid next to me and have to pay for daycare and all that stuff. And the owners, the employers are like, no, you need to come into work because that's how work is done.

And over time we're gonna find that the employees are like this is depressing. I have no separation between life and work find that the employees are like, this is depressing. I have no separation between life and work, and the employers are like, I don't wanna pay rent, I don't wanna pay overhead insurance for people to come in to work. No, stay your ass home, work from home.

And that is the full chrome where everything switches. Let me give you an example. You are mentioning that disparity, and I know there's another place with the strike ending with the actors. I think something that a lot of people don't notice and don't care when they think about the actors. Most of them are not making any real money.

You think of them as the height of fame and glory and the top 12% do make plenty. But after that, it's a bit of a struggle. What did you find interesting about the concessions that were made there before we get to the bucket of death by the actors and by the rich people? The only good movie has been Sound of Freedom, available on video on demand. So it's interesting, Dan, because storing James Kavizel, my kid, I was telling my kid, have you ever heard him speak, very compelling? It's gotta be.

A regular Greg Gutfeld. You gotta be. In closing, that's why women should stop voting. He gotta be a hard worker no matter what you do. And in order to paint the picture, I changed the channel to like a movie. And I said, see that guy over there? He's lying down on the ground because he's playing dead.

And there's been a massacre or whatever. That guy right there busts his ass doing auditions and off, off, off Broadway plays and indie movies and commercials just to be cast as dead guy number three. And there are hundreds of thousands of actors like that. Like they're living check to check. They've got regular jobs in between to pay for their health insurance and all that stuff. So you're right. There is a huge have and have not disparity in Hollywood.

But as with regards to the deal, there are no strike protections with AI, which means basically they can use your image and likeness. Fine. We didn't hear you. Yeah, I think he's okay. And I paused in a really well image. Have you ever watched the left behind?

Yeah, so if there's a strike next time, this deal allows the studios to say I'm just gonna use the Name image and likeness of Nicholas Cage or John Travolta or any of these people to continue to come on Stuff Jim. Bezel right so that's a huge deal number two Self tapes are no longer considered auditions. What does that mean it means?

Self-tapes are no longer considered auditions. What does that mean? It means basically what's been happening is people go in person to audition, but then the pandemic happens, so people start zooming in and people were self-taping, right? Meaning I wasn't even asked, I'm sending in a tape. Now here's the big deal, because self-tapes are no longer considered auditions, regular auditions, meaning in person or even over zoom, you get paid for those.

Cell tapes, not auditions, you don't get paid for those because way we didn't ask you. Riveting. So what's going to happen is the studios are going to basically ask for cell tapes because then they don't have to pay you. And that- I don't know. Broke back Mountain was quite ahead of its time with Heath Ledger, the late Heath Ledger and Jake Jill andal playing Cowboys, rough masculine Cowboys who end up as lovers, movie directed by Ang Lee, one of the most beautiful movies award-winning movies I've ever seen. That's number five.

It should have won Best Picture, David. Couldn't agree more. It was a disappointment that I actually lost to Crash, which to me is one of the weaker Best Picture winners in recent memories. Gorgeously shot, as you mentioned, only as a real sensitivity to the material. Heath Ledger, Jake Gyll-Hall, amazing movie together. I agree. Broke that mountain.

Great film. Number four. Source code. Source code was not widely seen. It's with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monahan, who you may know from the Mission Impossible movies, Tom Cruise's girlfriend, Slash Wife. This is a movie about a guy in a train. He may be alive.

He may be dead. He may not be that person. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is also in the movie where it shows what science can do in order to help stop a crime potentially from happening. It's like minority report before, minority report, minority report. Source code, fantastic movie,

we're seeing Thrice. I love an esoteric choice as much as an ex person, but I figured I was seeing a Thrice. I've never seen it once. As you said, David, most people I haven't seen it. I can't even criticize the movie. I haven't seen it. I don't think anyone there has seen it,

I don't understand how a movie person critiques a movie they've never seen. Why not just acknowledge I've never seen it. It may be great. Number three. Stinger butt up. Prisoners. The newly single Hugh Jackman is in a movie with Jake Gyllenhaal, and it is a movie that gets you on myriad levels. What you think it's about, it may not be about. It's got tension. It's got amazing writing. It freaked me out when I watched it for various reasons.

So I've never watched it again, but it still is number three. Most notably Canadian director, Deneville, love didn't care for the ending a little bit ridiculous. The phone call from the grave, but I'm with the David really well-acted. It's a suspenseful excellent film. Number two, Crazy Heart. That is known as the Academy Award-winning vehicle for Jeff Bridges, but Maggie Jill and Hall plays a critical role as his girlfriend as a single mother in that movie. It is a movie with a great soundtrack with Jeff Bridges and her performance, subtle,

wonderful, beautiful. And I chose that over Secretary, which is another great Maggie Jill and Hall vehicle. But this movie is worth seeing crazy heart number two. I wish you've gone with secretary, nothing like a little S&M conversation. I think the show would have appreciated it, but crazy heart is excellent. I in fact have the CD. I got that sent to me, a part of the Cricks Joyce Association. So the CD is excellent.

Jeff Bridges sings, I can't pull a song. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to crank up the crazy heart CD later today. I liked it better. It was called tender mercies, but sure, it's a good movie. Go ahead. That is a Jessica. Are you there? You've never heard it. She's not. Robert DeVolk, country singer. Go ahead. What I don't like about the segment Dan is that Adnan feels like he has to prove every week about all the stuff he does and gets and sees. It's like boasting for no reason. Number one. Well, he does have credentials.

He's got critics credentials. Right. I'm a member of the Critics Choice Association, so I do get sent free stuff. I get sent swag. It's a long talk. Oh, yeah. And how close is that camera to your Facebook?

Number one day. I can see that work, Donnie Dan. Number one, stranger than fiction. Don't say a word at, man. Not one word, stranger than fiction is Will Ferrell's best movie. That's number one. Number two Maggie Jill and Hall is a baker who is audited by the tax man played by Will Ferrell. Amit Thompson, Queen Latifa, Dustin Hoffman, the layers of this movie. Maybe you did not understand them and I'm fine with that But there are words and passages and pros in the movie that make

you think about your life. The choices you make, what's real, what's not real. And at the end of the day, as you know what I love, it's a movie about love. And it's got one of my top five lines of any movie. Emma Thompson is a chain smoker. Queen Latifa gives her a nicorette patch. And she says, a nicotine patch. I don't need a nicotine patch. I smoke Yeah, I can't really see what it's all the top five lines of all time. That's pretty good

Man, you're not gonna believe this but again, we've mismanaged the clock So Adnan has so rightful through his top That number one's good. I like stranger than fiction But stranger than fiction will Ferrell's best movie I've not heard a whole lot of people say that now. I haven't seen stranger than fiction But that is not something I've heard a whole lot of damn there's a reason we have to hold a whole lot of that It's not true, so don't worry skip stranger than fiction. You're gonna be fine. You'll get your life Okay, all right number five

light crawler All right, number five. Nightcrawler. That was a good one. Great film. I mean, this is like Taxi Driver meets Network. The insatiable celebrity news media run a Rousseau channeling fade, done away. Jilla Hall's kind of slash Travis Bickle, Danero. Fantastic.

We'll be bug out of the entire time. Introduce us to the great Rizza Med. Nightcrawler, excellent film. Shame on you, Samson. Not having this in your top five. Number four, The Dark Knight. Buzzer, oh, there he is. Only one of the best films in the last 25 years,

you're not gonna include the fact Maggie Gyllenhaal was in The Dark Knight, clearly important part of this film, Heath Ledger Forever. Number three, Broke Back Mountain. Buzzer, oh, there he is. As discussed, only wonderful film, beautifully acted all the rest of it. Number two, you mentioned Stranger than Fiction.

That's like Charlie Kaufman Light. The real Charlie Kaufman will adaptation, please stand up. Phenomenal Nicholas Cage movie playing both roles, Donald and Charlie Kaufman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, great in the movie. And number one, you guys are going to love this. I think of the Gyllenhaals, I think of one movie, and Jake was in it, it's City Slickers. Buzzer.
