Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. This is the Don Levertar Show with the Stugots Podcast. Stugots, the numbers around this show over the last few weeks have exploded because we've never had this concentrated sort of sports interest where things are at the height of crazy. Right. In teams of once. Well, but in 25 years, we've never had, you know, Miami does bandwagon well and the country
Starting point is 00:00:41 was actually interested in things going on in South Florida. And so I imagine today that the people are here to eat tears because one of the great fun things in sports is to enjoy the misery of people who were loud mouths and lose at the end. And second place isn't what the heat is about. I would have taken second place at any point in the last 30 years of Panthers. And so what I'm not going to do today, Stu Gatz, what I'm not going to do today is spend too much time ripping Roy and Chris Cody for spending God knows how much money in Las Vegas to go see what I think might have been the most lopsided ending to a season in the history of that sport.
Starting point is 00:01:19 I didn't look at the numbers, but nine three, that can't be the way a lot of seasons have ended in hockey of glory and wonder. And we'll go to at some point, Chris Cody and Roy Invegas just to get them up in an unreasonable hour if they've even gone to sleep. But before we get to what it is that I'm assuming America wants from this show today, which is tears, I will just tell you at this point in my life in my mid fifties
Starting point is 00:01:48 dealing with real, hard shit away from here. I am so damn grateful for the last two months of crazy distraction that has been sports in this market. And I don't want to soil that with Jimmy Butler, you're a bum. Kachuck, why couldn't you play through the sternum, through the, through the fractured sternum in game five so that it wouldn't end nine, three. I know you want tears here, but it's really hard to get none. Only one team in both the sports got to where my Emmy got and they both got there at the same time. And they gave us just so much fuel over the last two months that I'm super grateful for it.
Starting point is 00:02:28 So you're fine with second place, you're fine with being a runner up. Yes. In both sports, we went through all that, stayed up every night, watched every game. It wasn't every two nights off because one team was making a run. It was every damn night because both team were making fun.
Starting point is 00:02:43 And it was all magical. It was all of it was great because I didn't expect any of it none of it. I think I talked to a couple people I think most people just feel relief that it's all over which is kind of crazy because like on paper you're like oh my god in two days our city lost two major sports championships. We should be incredibly depressed. And it's just like, thank God, I can go back to living my life. Because the problem is, like you were saying
Starting point is 00:03:11 with the schedule and it happening at the same time, like, I didn't know how anyone could be as invested as they normally would be in either one because it was like one, the other life. Or in life, Billy. Oh, my life's been on pause for like two months now. Because everyone was just expecting it to end at some point, and then it didn't, and then you're like excited the orange life, the orange life building. Oh, my life's been on pause for like two months now. Cause everyone was just expecting it to end at some point
Starting point is 00:03:27 and then it didn't, then you're like excited on the flip side though. Could you imagine if we would have won two games in two days? Oh my God, what a big day. That would have been an all time high, but it didn't happen. And it's just like, oh my God, thank goodness this is over.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Now we can go back to paying attention to the Marlins. We're happy the series were not extended to the six game, seventh game, because neither team was gonna win. And so it's over. It's, I can move on with my summer. Go see Dead Joe. Okay, speak for yourself,
Starting point is 00:03:54 because still guys came in here and just like dropped sandwich all over the table and said, and just looked at me while eating through crumbs on his face, vacation mode, Dan, Dead Summer. You're happy it's over, because you had to work. You seem happy as well. I'm grateful that it existed. I am, what do they say about the corny thing about love?
Starting point is 00:04:14 Like, I'm happy that I had it, man. I'm not sad that it's gone. I'm happy that I ever had it. Don't cry because it's over, smell, because it happened. No, that's not the thing. It's better to have loved and lost and never loved at all. Dance like nobody's wrong.
Starting point is 00:04:27 I think he combined two cliches. Don't cry because it's overlapped because Miami lost two championships and two consecutive nights after being the loudest gas bags this entire postseason over teams that they didn't even believe in to begin with during the regular season. That's what made it so magical. That's the saying.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Yep. That should be the saying. Jessica is radiant. She is beaming. She brought to her dog in. I the dog. I just saw the dog run by. I run by back here after a ball of some sort.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Yeah. My stress ball that I got from the finals. Good, good riddance, I guess. What's going on here? We're taking the means airport experience and bringing it to the show. Two nights in a row, back to back, season ending, finals ending losses.
Starting point is 00:05:10 We needed a therapy animal in here today. You thought this would relieve stress? It relieved everyone's stress, except yours, because you're the only one that hates dogs here. I don't hate dogs, it just don't like strange dogs. You're afraid of dogs. I mean, hate dogs. You're afraid actually when you notice
Starting point is 00:05:24 there is dogs here today was kind of great And then he was in like a swivel chair and just kept spinning around hoping that the dog wouldn't follow him Yeah, leave me was the dog in what yeah the dog is back in here now No, I mean I mean I mean came in here and said what's with the dogs? I know a lot of people who hate dogs shows gone to the dog really It's a valid question. I has. Why is there dogs here? It's pretty normal. No, he gets what an S.
Starting point is 00:05:47 He came in and said, what's with the dogs? But I do think he's afraid of dogs. He doesn't trust dogs. And I know a lot of people like this. Because we dog lovers can love dogs that never be scared of them. But I mean, he's an animal that bites and that he doesn't trust. And I'm sure this animal does that.
Starting point is 00:06:04 She doesn't bite. Well, she's this animal does that. She doesn't bite. Well, she's never been. Oh, those seeds ornamental. It's just there for show. Night she takes them out, puts them in a glass of seltzer water. They're not dentures. Then they bite.
Starting point is 00:06:16 She doesn't bite. She's a good girl. She bites. This first off, Hildy and Kristen said. It smells like urine in here. On Wednesday, yeah. It does smell like urine. Sorry about that. Oh, yeah. Go away. Kristen said, it smells like you're in here. On Wednesday, yeah. It does smell like you're in here. Sorry about that.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Oh, yeah. Go away. Kristen, it really smells like piss in here. Every way. Why is it coming to me? Is it what? Why is it coming to me?
Starting point is 00:06:33 They have a pet policy on Wednesday to bring your dog to work every Wednesday. Is that a thing? They do? Kristen and Hildi said it was a thing. I trust them and believe in them. They're in charge of the production around here. They made it. And they said, bring Willow in in and it'll be a great stress reliever for everyone. We had a long stressful
Starting point is 00:06:51 stressful spring. All right, we needed a little break. We needed some pep, some happiness in the studio. So I said, okay, I'll bring her in and then Bambi came in who's Hildi sister's dog who is dequeue to Judo baby. That dog bites for sure. And so I think everyone's in a good mood because of the dogs except to mean. who's Hildi's sister's dog, who is decutor's little baby. That dog bites for sure. Sure, for sure. And so I think everyone's in a good mood because of the dogs except to mean. Don't you go home to this dog every night? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:13 What stress relief, what stress relief you see it every night? That need to, like, you love Lee, right? Yeah. Put it me on the spot, right? Lehman. Lehman is his name. Putting you on the spot. So it'seman Lee man is his name, putting you on the spot.
Starting point is 00:07:25 So it's like, imagine saying, you know what? It's not enough that I see him when I go home. I have to have him at work too. Oh, it would be nice if Lee came to bring your boyfriend. Well, a lot nicer, bring him in instead of this, this, this, this, uh, to this, you guys need to come in here and tell me it smells like urine in here. I'm not joking. I'm assuming it's not a mean or it's to this. You guys need to come in here and tell me it smells like urine in here. I'm not joking. I'm assuming it's not a mean or it's to God. It could be. It could be. I apologize. Vacation mode. Dan.
Starting point is 00:07:54 All of those little plush toys that we play with out there and between breaks that dog has been all over it. Yeah, they're all contaminated. It's done. I was nervous. I knew today was dog then. I was coming in and I just know, you know, Dan doesn't always reogge the back to like different things being thrown at him, you know what I mean? So it's like there's been lots of people here lately. Shows have been stressed. I'm like, I don't know that bringing a bunch of dogs is a good idea today. But it's gone.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Well, the one thing I will say, I have, yeah, so far so good. Dan was the most excited to see her. It only takes one. It only takes one incident. I have a past little sitting out there on the counter. Oh, it's gone. That's what I'm talking about. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Dan, how do you think about this idea, talking about wasting company resources? Because I came up with a cute idea that I told Hildi and Christian about yesterday. I thought that they should have made employee IDs for the dogs, because they had the printer out yesterday, but they didn't do it.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Sure. See? You see? Yeah, that's fine. You're an idiot. You're a great idea, Billy. I'm glad you're working hard on keeping us all afloat and just... Next Wednesday, Rumble can come in. I think Billy gets the most joy.
Starting point is 00:08:58 No, I think Billy gets the most joy. How can I cost this company? That's four dollars here and there. I mean, you guys said, what are the thousands of dollars? I know. I'm gonna lose Vegas for what? Okay, well thank you, thank you for bringing that up
Starting point is 00:09:10 because here we go. We've got Roy Bellamy joining us live from very early in Vegas. I have gotten no content for this show from Chris Cody and Roy Bellamy. I'm glad we sent both of them and John Reed in a Panther jersey. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:24 So he can get kicked out of another press box. Game five, you lose nine to three. I haven't looked at any of the numbers, Roy. Have we had a lot of finals that have ended with, with that, with somebody getting hit nine to three and being a loser. You flew out to Vegas to see a historic loss in the end of your season. And you looked like you're hungover.
Starting point is 00:09:46 That's because I am, Dan. Yeah. There have been two instances of the team scoring not on goals in the Stanley Cup final game before this. So this is the third time. Now I get into my room around 5 30 Eastern this morning. So I'm hurting. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Good coverage. Good coverage. What were you doing? You were just wandering around on the ice celebrating with the Vegas players being around What could have been your dreams instead your dreams dashed and crushed and turned into ice? That and drinking yes Where were you the Cosmopolitan? I have my first Cosmol, which was pretty nice Cosmopolitan, I have my first Cosmol, which was pretty nice. It came in nice little fancy glass.
Starting point is 00:10:26 It tasted like oranges, you know, it was very good. So this wasn't all for now. I was, and I had my nights saved because of it, so you know, I appreciate it. Where's Chris Cody? I don't know. You know what happened? He set his alarm for 5.30 pm instead of am. So he's late.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Of course he did. Any other content that we can get? Strong content from Vegas, you and Chris were in Vegas and you were just gambling and didn't. That's it. That's the coverage we have on this hockey season that you've been the most exciting hockey season of your life, correct? Yes.
Starting point is 00:11:00 It's basically the best pants as team that we've ever seen because they want a game in this stand-alone series So yeah, but we do have content coming and involves a wedding chapel. I won't go further into that Yeah, we got content coming. Could you guys got Mary? Well almost Okay, so there is content coming. I'll believe it when I see it. I've heard such things from the basketball all-star game that Tony and Amine went to. We do very well with disappearing coverage. So I'll believe it when I see it so far. I've seen only this. It's not very much. The loss tapes from Cleveland,
Starting point is 00:11:39 man, if anyone could have seen them. Well, they would have been great. I'm sure. Just wasting money right and left. All right, sleep and get home. Congratulations on the greatest hockey season we've ever seen in Panther hockey. One win. The most radiant. The most radiant person here today is Jessica.
Starting point is 00:11:56 She is just, this is Jessica's happiest day at work. She's got dogs. I've never seen her this happy here. Like, are misery. Like, are misery. ¡Adox! ¡No he visto nada de este happy here! ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós!
Starting point is 00:12:09 ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós! ¡Adiós! y las criaturas están por todas partes. A raíz, bluque, a raíz.
Te atreves a ver. Don Lebatard. Tony, kids, you don't really realize how much time it just adds to your day. And how little they bring to the table. They bring nothing to the table. Yeah. Nothing to the table. In fact, you have to bring the table off.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Physically, to them. But I wanted to go to Flanagan's before you know what I would do. I grabbed my keys. I had hopped my car. Now there's seven different bags. You got to take a tater. 35 minutes ago to Flanagan's before you know what I would do I grabbed my keys I had hop in my car now There's seven different bags. He got a tanker 35 minutes ago to Flanagan Stugats Nothing leaving anything move everything around all of a sudden you can't leave knives everywhere like I'm used to put it on the Paul Guillermo at Lebertard show is there anything lazier than an infant This is the down lebertar Show with this two-gat.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Draff King Sportsbook and Official SportsBetting Partner of the NBA has a limited time offer for new customers. Use code Dan when you sign up on the Draff King Sportsbook app. You might have heard a bit of a shell-shocked silence from some of the tears I'm sure that you want the most if you're in America outside of Miami And I'm not sure that Miami can really be classified as America I really do think it needs to be just separate as some seceded thing that is between the Bahamas and Everything that's happening and hey not a great
Starting point is 00:14:04 I mean, we've tried that before. Are you familiar with the story of the Concrac Republic? Love that. When Key West tried to break off and make its own country and then they realized, oh, no one's picking up a garbage. I guess we'll just go back. That is what happened. That's exactly. He's got the history. They have a museum and stuff for it, but that's the history. The history is like, we'll have our own land! No, we won't live by American rules. Hey, who's picking up the trash, right? Never mind.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Don't want to do it that way. Two cities in America that I feel like are in America. Miami and New Orleans. You're transported to a different world. That includes New York and LA and Chicago and all these other, oh, international cities. No, no, no. Miami, New Orleans are truly, they feel like this is the US. It was actually hit on in yesterday's post game show by Taylor.
Starting point is 00:14:48 It's not the first time I've heard that. That Miami is actually the capital of Latin America, South, South America, Central America. Miami is actually the capital city. You mean Taylor, 12 men and not Taylor, the Nick Vanuette, either shoe. Well, that's why reference to post game show. Got it. Well, some people then listen to post game show. I mean, it's upset. Let me explain something Mike. He's lashing out here and we'll get to your tears in a second. I tried. They're more familiar with Taylor in our video department than the notion of a post game show. He loves the inside shit, man. I mean, likes going in deeper and deeper until he's just amusing.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Legitimately only himself. It's a land that both him and... I mean, I needed the clarification. It's despicable. Him and Billy occupy it very well. I'm not making jokes for themselves. That is, it is true what he's saying. But a mean is lashing out in general and we'll get to Mike Ryan's tears in a second. Aqua, because I tried to get Mike Ryan's tears yesterday through tear gas, but there were more TV trucks than people. Bow out by what it is that was happening with Trump being indicted. So we did not get the tears yesterday.
Starting point is 00:15:55 We will get them shortly. As to God says, I'm just happy it's over. I don't think we've talked enough about the fact that the champion, NMP, is also glad that it's over like we cannot talk About the single strangest reaction. I've ever seen to winning an MVP I it's hard as that man is work him saying doesn't everybody hate work an amazing thing to witness But Amin is lashing out Mike because The first hour of that show when a lot of people were listening and watching. A mean was trying to get off a joke instead of doing any basketball, any
Starting point is 00:16:28 heat stuff. He had so much information, so much to say he just wanted to get off his inside patino joke for an hour just to make jokes of funny names of funny players who are walking through that door because they are having their season ended and let's laugh at the at the team that had its season ended. It's his joke. It's a copyrighted joke. He made it for an hour.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Nobody got it. I delivered a master class because I wasn't just saying random names. Some people are like, what is just written names? No. It wasn't random names. The names were correlating with the stuff you guys were talking about, along with the intonations. So when Billy was saying about the rock and his financial difficulties, I hit the patino game name at the same intonation. And when you guys were talking about Fubar
Starting point is 00:17:19 and Throat Slitting, I brought up Eric Murdock who famously did a throat slit gesture responding to Chris Charles throat slit gesture in the playoffs in 1998. If you were paying attention like my friend Paolo Torrey was, you would have been blown away with the Westworld levels of the maze that I built. Instead, like, I don't get what a meme is doing. Why isn't he just telling us about oh God, man Sometimes you mouth breathers. This is a kind of stuff. You know what my show's audience coming soon with Charlotte Wilder Oh, we're gonna train them we're gonna train them to look for those things to find those hidden gems then because
Starting point is 00:17:59 Everyone could just sit and watch a show. Oh, yeah look, oh, this happened, but it takes a keen eye to realize all the easter eggs and the nods and the kind of like nudges that are happening. It's a little bit of a melange of kind of different flavors and textures and instead you, in the sales are just like, just give me pizza. I mean, you forgot one thing though. Publicory, I walkin' through that door. He was high. Public one thing though. Pobletory, I'm walking through that door. He was high.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Pobletory was high. You know he is. As he often is. Yes. Reckless. Well, I mean, I'm just telling you that he and Amine were talking about how what he did for an hour, again, was Westworld. That's what he just said that season one.
Starting point is 00:18:39 Season two. Oh, season two. Season two. See what you were doing was season two. I'll give it a season two. By the way, I have confirmed through our sources that it's not a bit. Chris Cody is just legitimately not there because he partyed way too hard. No, but I know it's not a bit.
Starting point is 00:18:54 I know that none of this is a bit. Roy's still there. It's incredibly unprofessional. It's a, yeah, but okay. Why is Roy still there? Because he's incredibly irrational. Because he's irrational. Because that's a profession.
Starting point is 00:19:02 That's incredible professionalism. What you guys are witnessing, Roy, what other thoughts do you have from a Vegas hotel room? You've been, you want to go to sleep. You've been up all night. What are the panther season ended in an unholy disaster? Please make it worth our money here that you went to Vegas, go.
Starting point is 00:19:22 Well, they were hurt. I mean, for the players, and they have broken bones, and two of them played on it. Aaron Eckbite, a broken foot in the Boston series. He had a concussion about the down the plowsing like he is literally hurt. And Chris Cody is just entered the room. And of course, Rackle glutes his hurt. And to Lustor Rhinon and he has a chip. He can play and just go. He's just falling. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Kachak I read has a fractured sternum. Yes, fractured sternum. He played with it then in a game for seems like not. Vegas have shorter hallways. What? Vegas needs shorter hallways. Can we all agree on that? Put it on the pole, please,
Starting point is 00:20:04 juju. Hey, Vegas have shorter hallways. Can we all agree on that? Put it on the pole, please, Juju. Hey, Vegas, have shorter hallways. He's right about that. Yeah. Can we all agree on that? Roy, you were interrupted by a party in Chris Cody wearing sunglasses. You look like Daytona. Roy, please, please, please, I didn't notice my teeth. Doesn't smell bad. Oh, please, please. I didn't notice my teeth. Does he smell bad? Oh, no. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Oh, no. I woke up at 6.05 in a panic. OK. I'm late. Roy, tell me, tell me about the smells coming out of Chris Cody's face. You guys look like a Twitter fight. No.
Starting point is 00:20:37 He smells like a hockey locker room right now. Oh, that's bad. Oh, I smell. Yeah. Chris, did you have a cause from Folletin last night also or? The irony of all this is that I actually left where I was partying. I could have partied last night with the Vegas nights at Caesar's Palace.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Excuse me. At Caesar's Palace. Brett. And I went home to go to sleep so I could be here on time. I've smelled that breath on occasion. That's a good decision. Why would you say that?
Starting point is 00:21:07 Yeah, it's horrible. I mean, it's bad breath. It's a big man's bad breath. I smell it. And a big man's bad breath is worse than the average bad breath. Roy's already hung over. I feel so bad for Roy. Even it's, Roy, okay, let's do this.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Roy, this is what I would like to do let's go pressure no I want to get I want to get value out of this commentary what I would like Chris Cody is for you to consistently blow in Roy's face as as Roy tries to get through it with commentary about the final game of the season go ahead ahead, Roy, encapsulate the season here from Vegas, close it out for us. Well, that was a success. I feel so bad for him. Roy, power through it. Please, Roy, power through it, please. Well, that was expected to pass the big playoffs. Obviously, that was expected to pass the
Starting point is 00:22:02 beat to Bruins. That was expected to pass pants to be the Maple E's older hurricanes. At least you got on the ice though, but at least I got it. Yeah, yeah, they beat three, you get the best five teams to lead this shed. Just kind of get past the fourth one. What a time. Have we gone emotionally yet? Can we all just hug for these last couple weeks? Uh, what?
Starting point is 00:22:20 Yes, they've been wonderful weeks, but let's hear some emotion for you. Paul Maurice, the Panthers coach, do got to, I was surprised by this a little bit. Perhaps I shouldn't have been. Thank you for telling me who the coach is. You're welcome. We've got a lot of new followers in this realm. I needed that one Tony is also grateful. But Mike and Roy and Chris can tell you about his personality a little bit as he's loosened up in the playoffs and done a little more with the press conference and stuff. He's like maximum professional guy
Starting point is 00:22:47 and I'm not gonna say he's a robot, but when I heard these words come from him where he really paused for a second to summon the answer on how special this thing was. And this is a man who loves hockey, has been around hockey for a long time, these things don't happen that often. Yeah, we're gonna play the entirety broken up happen that often. Yeah, it was, we're going to play the entirety
Starting point is 00:23:06 broken up into two clips because I thought it was excellent. The first one kind of tells you what some of these players went through on Florida and the way that hockey coaches and players just talk about some of these injuries is pretty, well, it's something more of a lot. And keep in mind, this is a coach that was calling his players on the bench, Fing B's like three months ago. When it looked like the season was in mind this is a coach that was calling his players on the bench Effing bees like three months ago when it looked like the season was over
Starting point is 00:23:28 What is a stand for and it seemed like they they certainly made a connection through their toughness And here's Paul Marie's talking about the toughness they displayed throughout this postseason run Well, obviously not the way that you wanted this to end and and this team has battled through so many injuries And then you lose math you could check tonight We just heard you in the presser talk about his fractured sternum. How hard was it for him to accept that he could not play in this game? Oh, there were just two pieces to that. The mental part of it, not being there, killed him.
Starting point is 00:23:59 But he knew one of the things about him, he's an incredibly bright young man. So he can assess his own game. He knew we all knew that the hope would be that if we could get five more days of rest into owners of chance for game seven but he you know he came back he fractured that and came back and scored the game time goal net front and then you could see him in the next game, trying to find a way to play with a broken bone. And I think he had the three best chances we had to score. He had three of the four, for sure.
Starting point is 00:24:35 But clearly, he also knew that the other four guys on the ice needed a guy who could do other things. So he accepted, he understood. Well, he's not the only one that battled through this series. Goudus is Miss Time, Duke Claire is Miss Time, Montour is Miss Time. What can you say about the character of this group? Because they never seem to stop fighting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:58 There's a thousand stories in that room, Jackie, truly. Aaron Eckblad broke his foot in the Boston series. I might have to... Boston foot in the Boston series. I may have to. Boston. In the Boston series, any pop and shoulder out twice, past a concussion, get test and tore his oblique. We need to roll that puck up the ice and in game three, kept it in, we scored, scored tonight.
Starting point is 00:25:17 So we have some incredible stories. It wasn't actually this series. The vast majority of our injuries came in the Boston series and they survived it. I mean I love these guys. I've never seen a group of men. Brad Cogut heard here, high ankle sprain. That's a six-week rehab. You missed a period. You know, it was wonderful to watch. It was wonderful to watch. It was an accident series. That was three months ago. Yeah, there was No, those weren't normal injuries and at times. I'm glad that he highlighted the high point in Eckblad's playoff run But there were times that he was very frustrating to watch because he he absolutely played like he had a broken foot
Starting point is 00:25:57 A torn oblique had to pop his shoulder and twice and had to cut his cusses excuses if you're out there You're healthy enough to play don't want to hear it. Yeah, Rad it had to cut his excuses. Excuses. If you're out there, you're healthy enough to play. Don't want to hear it. Yeah, Radco. Radco is a very full, but it's, Paul Marisa has been around the game for a very long time. And his reputation was, it's like a Kurt one. And to see him grow and, and, and develop an affinity for a guy like Matthew Kitchuk, two guy that gets under your skin. Remember, he coached Winnipeg. Those were rivals with Calgary, and he didn't have an appreciation for Matthew Kachuck's game. I don't want to overlook that Matthew
Starting point is 00:26:28 Kachuck returned to the ice after breaking his sternum, got the game tying goal in game three and provided a screen that gave this team an overtime winner. It's only Stanley Cup win and franchise history. Here's another clip of Paul Marys from the very same interview on TNT and you can see the emotion pouring out of them a little bit for a hockey coach anyways. Well, it's been a hell of a run for the Florida Panthers even though it didn't end the way that you guys wanted to. You've been around for a minute, Paul. What has this year meant to you as a coach? You get cynical when you get old, right?
Starting point is 00:27:05 We pro sports sometimes makes that happen. The game is wonderful, it's beautiful, but the best part about sports, for all the things that you want your kids to learn when you put them in sports, for all the great character stories we're all in that room this year from Traini Camp on. We're casual with our words sometimes, but that group of guys loves each other every day. The way they treat each other completely destroyed any sentence as a mind might have of a pro sports.
Starting point is 00:27:41 It was absolutely, I don't even necessarily feel that I was a part of it, but it was a wonderful thing to be a spectator of and to see it every day. So it was at the very least profession affirming for me. It was actually cool watching Sugatsu's reaction to that as someone I was apparent. Loser! Not Sugatsu. Loser! Second place! Loser! Don Lebatard! Off-handed to me and Chris before he started playing. He's like, seems like that Tony guy gets triggered pretty easily. And I laughed the hardest out loud I've ever laughed in my life. Still got started.
Starting point is 00:28:15 He's triggered pretty easily. That guy. That's easy. I'm triggered. I'm triggered. I'm triggered. I'm triggered. I'm triggered.
Starting point is 00:28:23 It's crazy. It's crazy. No, you're self. No, you're self. No, you're I'm crazy. It's crazy. No, you know what I realized? No, you're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so.
Starting point is 00:28:31 You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so.
Starting point is 00:28:39 You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. You're so. Draft King Sportsbook, an official sports betting partner of the NBA has a limited time offer for new customers. Use code Dan when you sign up on the draft King Sportsbook app to check it out. What a horrible way to end that segment.
Starting point is 00:29:12 After we were getting to an emotional place. I was looking at Siagatsu I've known for 20 years and I've seen him coaching LaCrosse and I know him, important it is. And I saw his eyes kind of well up a little bit at Paul Marise describing what it was like coaching this season so late in his career and you just called him a loser. Yeah, that's correct. With venom and violence. I saw one like you, man.
Starting point is 00:29:38 What I was doing is 20 years of sports radio. I was joking, it was a joke. Obviously, it was moving and eloquent to come. Can you tell where a little emotional? We have an emotional support dog in the studio. I'm really broken up about this and it's just not the time for joking. Fair enough because loser. It was so Canadian. That sound, right? It just sounded like a different country. And a different and it's a different sport as well. And a different, and it's a different sport as well, like in the middle where it's like,
Starting point is 00:30:07 it's a little Fargo in it too, I feel like. Yeah. Well, that comes from the Canadian influence, right? But also, when you play that, play that sound, please. It makes me want to say, oh, say, can you see? No. Play it again.
Starting point is 00:30:22 Oh. Hanada. Yes. Yes, that's even better. The war isn't walking through that door. The thing that I liked best about what was legitimate eloquence and emotion that you don't usually find in that particular man because he's moved by how tough his players were for extra sternum. My favorite part, beyond even the crazy Vegas celebration behind this broken man that you
Starting point is 00:30:49 can hear is just the graphic that quickly goes up on TNT as soon as it starts, which is O for 14 on the power play. Roger Nielsen is a walking through that door. All right, P. Second team in Stanley Cup history to go Ofer. Ofer. In the Stanley Cup final on the power play, they actually had a shorthanded goal and not a power play goal. And I thought there was a really NHL coverage, TNT's coverage was really good outside of like the graphics occasionally forgetting that there's a power play was the interview in the middle of the first period. When the Panthers
Starting point is 00:31:23 were playing well-grown and at the game a little bit and they asked him just ahead of a power play, Paul, what would you like to see from your power play? He's like, honestly, I wanted to look like the five on five because they played so much better five on five. Then they did with a man advantage. It's cliche. I like that the TNT broadcast crew gave Florida their flowers and a lot of credit. It's true. They ran out of gas. They ran out of bodies. And I think where that game got certainly at a hand in that second period was the unrelenting wave of depth from, from Las Vegas. Well, they just go by Vegas. But they have Stanley Cup winners and captains on that third line. They have so many.
Starting point is 00:32:05 Fourth line is good. They're captain was a long-term injury reserve player who has got a $10 million salary and they have the richest team in the sport. They have a very aggressive GM. By the way, like I think their most expensive player was out for the year. Vegas is an incredible story and there were model franchise. I'm encouraged by what I saw from Florida. They had Matthew Kitchuk became a superstar in that sport over the course of this series. And he did so with a broken sternum. He had two game winning, he had two overtime walkoff winners, one in the sixth longest game
Starting point is 00:32:41 in NHL history. He sent them to the Stanley Cup final with two seconds left. I'm just so excited for the future for this team and they actually got some money to spend this off season. So they'll be back. This is part of the suffering that a lot of Stanley Cup champions have to do. Chris Cody, what do you have from out in Vegas there with your bad breath? Well, not everybody. Roy has also been playing through stuff. He's got a fractured clavicle. So everyone's been playing through stuff and, you know, the players get a lot of credit every year, but Roy deserves credit for what he's been playing through stuff. He's got a fraction of clavicle. So everyone's been playing through stuff and, you know, the players get a lot of credit here, but Roy deserves credit for what he's been playing through too. Rick Dudley is walking through that door. So I came
Starting point is 00:33:11 to you there. It's 12. We got shot. We got outscored. That was another graphic they put up there. 26 to 12 in the series. We got outscored. Wolf. I just want all of you to go back to how good it all felt. Mike just mentioned the shorthanded goal. That was the first one. And then the second goal of the final where they close out the second period in Vegas. That's as good as it would feel. That's the best it would feel. Time out of the winner. The winner in the three at two to well. Okay. So I could call game. You got you got a win, but you had very little in the way of hope because you realize I think this one doesn't happen very often in the way of hope because you realized, I think,
Starting point is 00:33:45 this one doesn't happen very often on the hope front, where not only did you get the unprecedented thing of the AIDS seeds both surprising you, but by the end of it, even the most hopeful of heat and panther fans were like, oh shit, the other side's kind of better than us. Like I can see what I'm watching here. Like yeah, maybe they get a game here and there,
Starting point is 00:34:04 but this is gonna be really, really impossible to do. This is better than all. Like I can see what I'm launching here. Like yeah, maybe they get a game here in there, but this is going to be really, really impossible to do. This is better than all the other tests. These are better. This is a better teams than all the other tests they've had. I have to say, Austin was the most difficult of test. Well, they came back from 3-1 and they were down a goal with a minute left on the road at the TD Garden. But I think entering that game, Aiden Hill, who's a fifth goalie, Vegas played this season and didn't actually get playing time until midway through that series against Edmonton, he had the highest save percentage
Starting point is 00:34:30 in Stanley Cup final history. He was just unbeatable. If the series came down to that final minute where Florida is just desperate and came for, throwing everything at the goalie, could Chuck's already off the ice because the broken sternum is just too much firm to bear and they're throwing everything at this guy.
Starting point is 00:34:46 And he's like an octopus and net. He was just red hot and in the history of hockey, hot goalies like that don't cease being hot midway through the sun. Oh, wait a minute, though. Wait a minute. There was a goalie that Billy and Stugatz said should be benched after game one. Let's hear the barking the bark Lee sound please my keen it isn't walking through that door and I'm gonna just tell you something sir jay
Starting point is 00:35:11 for Bob Cook this is goalie for the Pampers chef messing I mean not skip messing and I'm gonna get in there for major five sir jay for Bob Cook this is goalie for the Pampers if you're gonna get in there with a shit joke can you do us the courtesy at joke just for you if you're gonna do that can you get the name right why is John Reed fixing the lighting behind you guys in the hotel room during the segment like what kind of getting it's on you can blame the guy for running around here 35 minutes and 35 minutes into the segment Final floor is not walking through that door sir. J. Babamka Roy Roy something is based right now. Roy. I smell so bad. This is great
Starting point is 00:35:55 He looked like that before you got there Final final thoughts Roy on on the greatest panther season of your life in the indignity of a Vegas hotel room both of you hung over no sleep with some patented bad Cody breath. Well you know how to go to nice walk from the locker room to the icy walk between two mirrors where it looks like it's a hundred of them coming on the ice. That's what I felt like in this series. I felt like a hundred of them. Yeah the ice. That's what I felt like in this series. It felt like the hundred. Yeah. It's not deep. They were. But yeah, I mean, you heard from Reese, you heard our emotional he got those boys got heart. We should be proud of
Starting point is 00:36:32 them. I know I am. I know who he is. Oh, eight. He'll should have been MVP. Yeah. To play off. It's a playoff award. And there's a whole playoff. Yeah. He's something. That just hurts. Dude, that's happened. He was the best player. I have a, I have a group chat that's just a bunch of efforts directed at DLTAL in all post-season long because we left a 30 goal score unprotected and he's the greatest goal of the night ever and he's just the MVP of the playoffs right now.
Starting point is 00:36:58 And he, and I don't know if you guys saw the feature before the game that they showed on TNT, but he was absolutely reveling in doing this to the Panthers. The cop is hard to win. It is a precious trophy. Canada values it an unusual, in an unusual way. Vegas has it now after five years of existence. We alternative with South Florida.
Starting point is 00:37:18 I'm in the post of photo. Chris posted a photo on his idea. That made me laugh out loud, which is a sign that said, we've waited six long years. Oh, Ken. And Danine isn't going through that door. You know how money can't buy your class, right? We were unsurprised by nuclear secrets
Starting point is 00:37:35 being in a bathroom of trumps that had a chandelier. Oh. The very fact that Vegas now has the Stanley Cup cheapens it. It's a cheaper trophy than one of them. Well, there's three of them. So it's, yeah. I wonder if they gave them one of the beer sea cups.
Starting point is 00:37:55 You know, you're like, eh, you're not getting the original. Canada gets the egg cups. Exactly, right. They can't handle the decups. It's Vegas, I'm sure they can. Pierre, Francois Jackson is the one here that door. Vegas winning after six years, Mike saying you got a suffer. He's right. I mean, Vegas got there. They suffered early. They've been, they've been to two. Look what they did
Starting point is 00:38:14 after they missed the playoffs for the first time in their franchise history. They hired Bruce Cassidy and they went $14 million over the salary cap. Vegas just bought the trophy. The way Tampa was buying the trophy, skirting around the salary cap. And at the end, Florida's just the tires fall off the car. Every, the, the, the, the, the Zimpoanie is smoking
Starting point is 00:38:40 and like the fender falls off of it because they've got no money left, no, no body parts that work left. Classic banana in the tailpipe situation. Chris close out our coverage from Vegas. It's been sterling. I should have suggested to brush your teeth at some point during the segment highlights
Starting point is 00:38:59 from Vegas highlights from time with Roy. What kind of content did you guys get out there? Are we going to get it at any point in the next six months? We did a bunch of content. We may or may not have gotten yelled at by people at the Venetian and then talked to a PR person and they had us cut it out of the content that you're gonna see.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Wow. That's the story we can get to on a different day. Roy said you got married. Well, we tried to. I wanted to marry a hockey stick. We did a lot. Oh, you gave it away. It's called a Tee's Chris. I mean, you find out if I bury a hockey stick. We did a lot. Oh, you give it away. It's called a tease Chris
Starting point is 00:39:26 I mean you find out if I'm buried a hockey stick What happens Thank you gentlemen get home you were messed up. You flew you flew to big I think roast a for a while for a nine to three loss Right took his wife to have a Maurice pulling the goalie like downs nine three with six minutes left of the game I'm like hey, we got a shot in my personal record book It's only six three because three of the goals were for someone over the salary cap. Oh Thank you gentlemen. We appreciate your time. We appreciate your coverage. I wish it were better. Oh, I love you. I
Starting point is 00:40:11 Looking forward to you getting miss you guys come back Getting back here. I I believe That the people watching this right now that people listening to this are probably relieved watching this right now, the people listening to this, are probably relieved that the heat and panther seasons are over so that we can go back to talking about UFOs and other things. Like we really did morph into a sports show here over the last two months in a way that's dizzying
Starting point is 00:40:37 to me, confusing. I feel a bit short-circuited. People enjoyed it. I mean, you said the numbers are up. Yeah, well, they wanted more sports, but I kind of have always wanted to do the other things. And I believe, look at Roy's face right now, that we're close to harming some of the people
Starting point is 00:40:58 who work here, physically harming them, that the last two months have been too hard. Well, people are close to you, sent me to the Trump indictment yesterday. You got wild dogs running around the studio. I mean, why are you separating yourself from this? By the way, you're the driving force. Well, the last two months have been an I did rod race. You guys are the dogs and I'm the big fat guy in the sleigh.
Starting point is 00:41:17 That guy in the sleigh!
