The strike finally ended on all parts between writers and actors this week. But I was beginning to feel because of how many times I'd seen that usher advertisement

or that shows advertisement on Netflix, I am reminded by that advertisement, hey, I'm running out of content. I am running out of things I want to watch. They're not making new stuff. And I was, I'm just now beginning to feel it where you go through the channels or you go through your streaming services and all of a sudden, you don't have anything that you want to go to that you trust to be good or quick. You don't have a wide palette.

If you don't want something that's two hours, you want something that's quick and a half hour, I've burned through most of it. I was just now beginning to feel the content drought of this strike. Dan, I'm with you. I'm running out of Columbus. I am almost out of Columbus.

Mike Ryan had the take when the strike started that he was excited about it because selfishly he wanted to get through a ton of shows. I'm still in the middle of my Leslie Neilsen marathon. Oh nice. I mean, I mean, I'm ready for Outer Banks season 4 to come out. I almost. All I have is the Guild of Dage right now.

I can't do period stuff. It's Julian Fellows. Lord Julian Fellows, Dan. I just can't do it. Like my wife wants to drag me into costumes and period pieces and I'm like, I just, I cannot do it. I don't want to. Even with the costumes, you don't want to do it?

Well, I wear the costumes, right, of course. So you'll be seated in the couch wearing the costume watching the Pew Peace. Yeah, I'll often do be dressed, you know, the Renaissance period. The motif. Yes, an elaborate ornate hat. But the other day, I was tempted by the pandaverse

and South Park, but I could not bring myself to add for 11.99 Paramount Plus. I couldn't do it. South Park was calling me. The pandaverse was calling me. And I just simply couldn't put forth the 11.99, but I was close. I was tempted. I was right there.

Yeah, Champions League with that too. You get Syria, Aakris, Wittingham, now the voice, the lead voice of Italy's Rear Mirror Soccer Division. Yeah, I mean, I'm a soccer fan, which means I have to have all these in order to watch the global game. It means I pay $500 a month for entertainment, but included in that was South Park's Pandaverse. And I like what South Park has been doing rather than like the weekly episodes.

They put more of their resources into having kind of like these mini movies when they have something to say and they have something to say about multiverses and Disney and why their movies are so bad. Basically, it's all Kathleen Kennedy's fault. And so like a portal opens up, a portal opens up to a different multiverse Kathleen Kennedy that she's a president of Lucasfilm. And it's the version of her that comes through as Cartman and Cartman's response to any time they're pitching a movie

is put a woman in it and make her gay. And like that's just like the one line that he has for every single movie. Even when a platter of food comes out at a restaurant, he says, take it back. Put a woman in it, make her gay. And so it's kind of one note, but at the tray and matley, they like to talk about what's going on. But the funniest part or the actual layered element of it is that now accounts like end-wokeness on Twitter are like, see, Cartman gets it. Yeah, obviously that's not what they're trying. What has become is people totally missing a kind of like Ken in Barbie where he's become a hero of sorts to a certain people that they're poking fun at,

is if conservatives think that Matt Stone and Trey Parker are on their side, I think they have it a little twisted, but- So it's not about pandas? Oh, man. This happened to us this week with the Aaron Rodger story that when you put your toes in any of these waters and make art in this particular culture that we live in for creativity, you're going to get a lot of things that spring forth that are a magical kind of silly because people want to argue about all of these things.

This is real life on Friday. We were texting about, the group was texting about some of the things that have been happening on our competitor station in New York.

There was a lot going on and some nasty things were said and we were all kind of grossed out by what was happening. And Don actually said to me, I might have to learn to control myself and not do this anymore because I don't want to be considered like these nasty yo-yos who do it just to do it. And I can tell you from sitting next to him, it's 100% real. Like, Don's not, he's aware he's recording, but he lets the moment become him. It's not a complete put on and then you know

as well as anyone as someone who's been like constantly sort of the alternative to like over the top yo yo radio. No one wants to be that. And I appreciate it. Don sentiment, but I sincerely hope he doesn't try to avoid being this because it's a beautiful thing. But to answer your question, I love both times like right now, be honest, the freedom to talk politics in the morning is sometimes great. And then there are times like right now where sometimes I'm more worn out doing the morning show and actually just look forward to talking about the giant's disaster of a season. Well, let's talk about what you're talking about, which is the coarsening. I can't believe that you're here to on budget on behalf of the coarsening of New York sports radio, but

you are making the argument on behalf of, oh, that's hackery to have young people come on and manufacture the take that runs Carl Banks out of town just because you are new to the game and the game now is just be louder and mean and yell that Carl Banks is boring. Dan, like, I've been dealing, first of all, I appreciated so much the random slander you had for Carton recently because it was so well deserved. And the fact that FS1 was like, we need to add this guy was remarkable, although we haven't really heard from him since. So I guess it's nice in that sense.

But now like since Carton left, it's like everyone on the fan is racing to the bottom to catch him. Who's going to be the next bad guy for people to cheer on? And like dude, you probably know Carl Banks is one of the kindest sports legends of all time. He is a gentleman. And like, I don't know any of the guys even involved in that. Honestly, but I was so disturbed.

I felt like the need to say something, because it's really worth it to a guy who brought you two super balls. That's really worth it. But Rosenberg, I'm sorry, Peter, this is how you get run out. This is how the game changes under you or the young person on k and legrika show of course in them there are three markets that matter where sports radio and of course it's going to be a race to the bottom i i just like listen

and the truth is we we pay a price for not being like that and i'm proud of it um you know i obviously anyone who's been radio radio knows the rating system is questionable to say the least. And I'm not a fan of it. We love the show that we do. I sincerely can tell you I am blessed. I know you know, Michael a bit. I know you guys played Don stuff all the time.

We're just three normal people who like, yes, we have moments where we get emotional and say angry things. Michael this year gave a full on apology because he reported something that he thought was true. It turned out he wasn't, he wasn't correct. The next day, he did a five minute. I'm so sorry. I need to be better. We really try to do a good job and also just be funny and have a good time. But like, you know, listen, we've become especially post 2020, Dan, where are the woke snowflake show? You know what I mean? Like once people found out that we were interested in handling ourselves a certain way in 2020 and 2021, I think that alienated us to a certain group of people and lionized us a bit. And it's, it's what we have to do with.

Peter, you can't apologize. That's a terrible job. I'm Michael Kay. You cannot apologize on local New York radio. You know that. That's how your ratings go into the tank, okay? But local radio wars, oh, do I miss this then? I mean, there are only a couple of markets that can do it. And I love Peter correctly taking the high road and saying, you know what, the high road loses. I said, the high road loses because trying to maintain some semblance of grace and etiquette and have some,

something that is not cruelty on sports radio will lose to cruelty. Every time it's impossible. Listen, I, dude, listen, how about this? You know this though? Do you know that carton? When carton before he went to jail, the powers that be had the idea to have him come on Harsha. Now I was already in full war with this dude and was like, I don't want, he said horrible

things about me. He's literally made up. He used to go on the air and be like, that kid used to be a fan of mine. He came up to me and told me what a fan he was made up out of thin air, never met him. I'm not from this market. I didn't know him at all. So I already had a personal extra grind on account of being lied about. But I said, hey, if you guys want to do it,

we'll do it. He will the second he gets a second, an opportunity. He will bite us in the throat. And that's exactly what happened, of course. What have you learned about the industry? It's a broad question, but you've worked it from a couple of different...

Not to apologize, I hope. You've worked it from a couple of different angles, and it is a specific kind of person that loves radio the way that you do. I've learned that to get to do this thing that I grew up loving so much, and I really did. I grew up loving both sides of it. Like I wanted to be Funkmaster Flex, you know, and cool DJ Red Alert before him. And I also wanted to be Bob Costas, who I loved listening to do. Costas coast to coast is Sunday night show. Like I loved all of it. What I didn't realize was that by the time I'd become an adult in order

for me to be successful, I'd have to do all of it. I don't think I knew that was the time I'd become an adult in order for me to be successful, I'd have to do all of it. I don't think I knew that was the plan, but you know, with very rare exceptions, and I happen to be talking to one of them, you know, you have to sort of do a lot to really make this thing work, you know, I mean, not everyone's going to be able to start a metal arc or have a pat McAfee situation. I am a true local, you know, radio and TV guy. And that involves a ton of work. Now listen, it's easy work. It is fun. I mean, I will spend Thursday morning in New York City for two hours celebrating the 30 year anniversary of midnight marauders and enter the Wu Tang 36 chambers, getting to play music for New York.

And then I'll go on in the afternoon and talk football. It's not a bad gig, but it's a lot of work. It is a ton of work. You're doing two full-time jobs. Most of those are just one job is enough, but you're still of the opinion that Kendrick Lamar is the greatest rapper of all time. Like you are the greatest lyricist, you are, that has not changed in the last couple of years.

I'm nothing, nothing about my feelings on Kendrick have changed at all. I mean, if you were to say is Kendrick Lamar the greatest MC who ever lived right now. I don't know if I'd say yes or not because my mood can change day to day, but I know what I was saying at that time and I was very committed to it. I put all my credibility chips in on Kendrick. I've been looking for, you know, I have a Sunday night show where I break new artists and

I'm super proud of the artists that I've played for the first time. ASAP Rocky, Todd or the creator, you know, Kendrick. A lot of people I played in New York for the first time, ASAP Rocky, Todd or the creator, Kendrick, a lot of people I played in New York for the first time. You'd be amazed how much it is not benefited me though in any way. Like every other artist in the world who you would think would not care about what my opinion was. And to me, an hour a week to hang out with Beetle, I would, I would be stupid to not do that. It's also combining some of the stuff that you love. It's not just pop culture. It's also the wrestling. He is a one time WWE 24 seven champion. You like eliminating. It's just the theme of it is you take two stories and decide which is the bigger one of the week.

You will will bigger or just more fun to talk about. You know, so my guess is let's be realistic guys. We know what this is going to become. This is basically going to become the Michelle Beetle Victor Wemba Yamma recap podcast. I mean, I, that, that is the path that I'm on. I accept it. Um, and I'm sort of the timing is kind of awesome to be doing the podcast with beetle when you think about it. But yeah, that is, that is essentially what it is, picking what the story to talk about is that week and just having fun. Listen, we've only done one episode guys.. Yeah. Just the legacy of puppetry I didn't realize was so strong to the University of Maryland. That article, it made me think about how church and religion, which I have become a buffet Catholic about, could actually become more meaningful for me in the present tense. I haven't gone to church a lot in the last two years, but I just went on Sunday, not because I wanted to make it into content, although, of course, Dominique suspects that.

It's because I was a long story short, It was my anniversary, wedding anniversary, seventh anniversary, and I went to church with Liz to just sort of do the thing that I'd like to do sometimes, which is examine the thing that is bigger than ourselves and reflect on where we've come in life. And- You walk into the church, the two of you hand in hand, and just point at people and say,

we got married here. We got married right here. This happened right here seven years ago. You're welcome. All right. Go on with your cataclysm. Cataclysm that have felt cataclysmic as the church has been atrophying, as it's been eroding because it's not appealing to a lot of people who otherwise might actually have that same instinct of like, I want to be a part of something that feels like it's speaking to me from a place that I can't understand. And, Charmini, I'm sorry. No, I was going to ask you actually, like, you're the churchiest of all of us. Am I?

Yeah, I mean, I go to church regularly. My wife is Catholic. We got married in Catholic church also, and the kids are doing all the Catholic things. I think that, first of all, it's hilarious that you wanna make this about church, when it's really just about drugs, just like everything else in your life is, like let me find a way to help with drugs.

I went back to church, no, you saw articles and said, they give out drugs at church, you're like, hey, where's the nearest church? Let me get some of them drug. The article is about how some priests have been experimenting with giving with dosing, aspiring priests with magic mushrooms. So I mean, I think those things are connected in some way.

And what church is for me at least, it wasn't something that I felt like a needer or something that I wanted to go to and it's not about believing being a true believer in religion as much as it's about a necessary thing for Most people that we don't do it's like a time to reflect time to assess a time to Look back a time to look forward and kind of reset yourself and I think that's what I've come to see as useful for church

So like when you go to a Catholic church as I do with my family, I mean, two, three times a month, most of the time we get up in there and less a little too sleepy. But when you go there, they do readings, they do songs, and then you do like the communion stuff. I step to the side when they do communion, I don't go take the little snack, the little sip.

I'm not down with that, but whether all the stuff is factual that I believe or not, it really doesn't matter to me as much as it's the principles that you hear from just about every religion are consistent. And then principles that I think it's important for us to reflect on sometimes and think about. And rarely do I go back at any point through my week,

do I think back like, hey, what happened last week that I'm proud of? What am I ashamed of? What can I work on? What am I gonna focus on next week? And I think church is like a helpful thing. If I could just routinely condition myself

to do it without church, then I'm not sure that I need to do it in church, but being in church, it's someone who's talking to you, and it's not like I'm in there thinking, you know what, God is watching me all the time. No, these are things that are important to me, and sometimes they say things about current issues that I don't, that don't rest.

Sure, oh no, no, no, of course. And then sometimes they say things that, but it's just like a spark in my mind, and it's the same thing where I think some people need some help to get to a place to think about these things, and that's where the psychedelics come into it. Yeah, so why?

For me, I should be clear, my experience at Mass on Sunday was... Not on psychedelics. Not on psychedelics, but I was thinking the whole time about how this could help, because what I want out of Mass, which I tasted beyond the literal Eucharist,

was the idea of, okay, I want to feel like, gosh, I want to feel like there's something out there that I don't understand that I can appeal to. Because what I come to church with, of course, Dominique, are my fears. I come to church with fear. What I pray for is for the safety of my family, for things to go great. I come to church from a place of need. And it's a place of need that is by social custom. Not gonna involve my cell phone.

That's a huge part of the presence of the experience. But also like, that's also what I'd turn to psychedelics for sometimes is, is I want to feel like there's something out there that is bigger than me that I can't explain. With that hints that even if I don't understand it, there's a reassurance in, in, in, in the vastness of. I know it's why it's turned, but I'm a fan of this God for Sakin' Show, so I do know that you tested very high on the narcissist scale, and I also recognize that when I listen to you, I hear it.

Like, did you not understand? You didn't hear the difference in me saying, I'm going to church to reflect on the way that I can be a better human and be reminded about the principles that I find important to me. And you like, I go to church because I want sh**. Correct.

I tell God, watch my back and give me money. Yeah, I, I, I, I was there to tell God that I'm still, I'm still here with my hat in hand, hoping for the collection plate to pass my way. I'm sorry. You're networking with God. I'm trying to book God as a guest on this. That's the most, the most popular thing I've ever heard. That hurts.

It hurts because it's hard to get court-sized seats with Jesus. Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! I need to reflect on that. Yeah.

Jesus, is it cool if I post this on Instagram? Oh! But okay, but that, that, that, that, that, oh gosh. That I would never do. I would only talk about it on a podcast I would never provide a photograph to play on the draft King's network and or YouTube But why where I I don't want to box you out with my narcissism. Oh, no, what is what is this story? You feel like to you? I'll be honest as the as the table heathen, there's a part of me that I don't have the

same relationship to religion that you all have. I went to Catholic high school and that was maybe where my sort of relationship with Catholicism began and ended. There was religion, like I grew up and we went to church and stuff like that and once I got out of the house, I was kind of like, yeah, it's not really for me. But to me, the interesting thing about that story, well, there were two interesting things. One was for everyone who was going through the experience in this story was just how much everyone had to take a sh**.

And whatever their desire was for this drug to get closer, the mushrooms, the mushrooms, to end some, end some sassafras, whatever their, whatever, whatever the desire was to get closer to their sense of faith or to God as a being or to their understanding, to me there was something that was just inherently funny with the idea that it ended with a what sounds like horrible sh**. One person had diarrhea and had to go to sleep. Like that's, do you understand how serious of diarrhea it is?

When you say, I had diarrhea and then I had to go lay down on drugs. Like that's this wrecked me physically where I need a nap. But I do think that religion, God, has had a marketing problem. And that's why I was drawn to the psychedelics thing because the people who are into like,

oh, I wanna feel stoned and wacky. What I think what you realize when you actually like do maybe sincerely, too sincerely, try psychedelics is the idea that I'm actually seeing the world in a different way. And it enables you to imagine things that your rational brain does not permit. And so this story about people sh**ing prolifically

and then seeing things that remind them of a religious experience and making them closer to God, what that did was remind me like, yeah, going to church stoned, going to church on mushrooms, I think that would get to closer to what Dominique is saying. you
